Morning chicks thought I would get us started. I am on my way to work in a 1/2 hour have to work out at the store today. It turned out sunny here yesterday but today is gloomy again. What's happening on your part of the beach today?

I'm getting ready to wake up my kids for the last day of school. Today is my daughter's 5th grade graduation. I bought her a cute outfit and new sandals (all in the women's department! :yikes: (who told her she could grow up so quickly???)... she is so excited... :)

heck, i'm just glad to have the day off of work! :lol3:

I'll pop in later....gotta hit the shower!

Whizzing through! It's sunny but windy this morning - a great day to hang out washing....except I did it all yesterday and hung out just the sheets.

I had coffee on the deck with The Girls this morning. Lucy was all excited and kept putting her paws on my lap for extra petting. The season has officially arrived ....for today anyhow.

I am planning to plant this morning and will go to the Greenhouse for a few hours early in the afternoon. If there is time and energy after that, I'll plant the urns at the Church.

Have a happy day, chickies, whether it be at work :( or a graduation :) or just hanging out!

A quick drive by for me this morning. It is DD's 8th gd Graduation. Every other year it has been at night and a big ta do but now they have decided it was to much trouble which really upset DD. Especially since DS had it last year! After that it is off to lunch and shopping with DD and MIL. I better get goin. I have to get DS up and wrapped to shower so I can shower and we can be there by 8:30! Have a great day all!

It's going to be a pretty nice day here today especially since I'm down another pound. WOO HOO! :D

I'm at work already. Came in at 6:30 so I can leave at 3:00 to catch my sister's lacrosse game (she's the coach).

Have a wonderful hump day!

Well, it's another freezing, rainy day today on my side of the beach. Must be hurricane season in my region of the tropics. Had to be at work at 8:00 today, which means I woke up at 6:00am and really just wanted to stay under the blankets. I was all set to cook breakfast this morning but when I woke up I had no motivation, it was so cold and yucky. So I grabbed some lemon pie (the "dessert for breakfast bars" from Phase I ideas) and some tomato and ran out the door into the rain. Bleh! Day 3 and counting on Phase I for me, though. :D
I hope everyone has a great morning!

good morning, beach bums :)

yesterday went well, except for a minor mishap in which i realized that i bought five boxes of regular, SUGAR jell-o, instead of sugar free. i made one box, licked the spoon and thought, "hmm, this tastes funny." so i check the box, and lo and behold -- SUGAR. i sort of freaked and and started spitting out the tiny bit that was in my mouth. i'm really serious about this no sugar stuff. i don't want a single molecule invading my body for the next two weeks ;)

this morning we tried that belgium waffle recipe with eggs and ricotta. MMM! it's good! i couldn't believe there was no flour in there. i wonder if there's any sugar free maple syrups out there? maybe davinci?

one other thing. do you guys know the difference between "diabetic safe" and "SBD safe" (for P1)? there's a local ice cream place that carries a product called "skinny dip" and it's "diabetic safe." i think i'll definitely get it during P2 (with nuts, of course!) but i'm wondering if it's safe for P1.

good morning chicks.
Its really really gross outside..it makes getting out of bed much like getting out of bed in the middle of winter...
anywho...I changed about 3 times this morning...even though i had picked out what i was going to wear the night before...I made the cheesecake smoothie this morning and it was delicious!
I brough mozzeralla and some cherry tomatos for lunch today...I cant beleive I am almost off phase1.....kinda nervous to begin phase2 but i wouldn't mind some sourdough bread with my coffee in the am!

Ruth you are so lucky you can actually go outside to drink coffee..if you did that here you would get blown away and really soaked!!!

*still haven't gotten my period yet..sorry if TMI but its bothering me...i am gonna give it a week more and if still nothing then off to the Doctors I go!

In reality i did lose 6 1/2 pounds in a week so my body is trying to ajust

*OH and I updated my profile pic...thats my engagment pic :)

Good morning!

Bamie, that's too bad about DD's graduation. :( Will you do something for her instead? Maybe she could get together with a few friends for a special night out?

Sky, too funny about the jello. :lol3:
I'm not sure about the diabetic safe stuff... anyone else? Ruth?

I've got to run... I'm behind schedule... will try to get back in later... have a wonderful day everyone! :grouphug:

Diabetic Safe is different from SBD Safe. We'd have to check out the ingredients. I googled it and just found diabetic exchanges - two starches, by the way.

The Girls just came in looking lovely with white petals in their fur. They've been playing under the apple tree! :) I picked a big bunch of lily of the valley and they smell just gorgeous! I love flowers in my bedroom.

I'm outta here too! My garden is calling.

Good Morning Y'all!
I haven't been able to get on the computer in days, either no time, or one of the kids is on here.
I completed my orientation for the hospital, and today I have to go in for department orientation in the pharmacy. I don't start really getting trained until either monday or tuesday. But that's good, my sister is coming to stay with me over the weekend. She'll be here for my DD's high school graduation! I am looking forward to my sister being here! We're great canoe partners! I love to go canoing with her, and we are hoping to go hiking too! I can't wait!
I feel like I've lost touch with everyone on this thread! I've been lurking, reading the new posts just not posting myself.
This weeks been my hardest to stay OP...not because of temptation, but financial....my DH doesn't get paid until the 31st, and we're flat broke, so I'm having to do with what we have in the fridge or pantry! But I've not been doing terribly. I have been keeping up with my exercise. As a matter of fact, set a goal of 2000 minutes for the month of May, and last night when I logged on to add yesterday's minutes, I was as 2049! woo hoo...I've set 2 goals this month and both have already been attained! Reaching my monthly goal weight was awesome!

Well, I'm gonna head out, gotta go to the gym early today, I don't know how long I'm gonna have to stay at the hospital today! And I sure don't want to miss a day!
Y'all take care, love you all
hope you all have great days and STAY OP

Morning chicks!

I'm down one pound this morning. I feel like this  but mind over matter I'm trying to make myself feel like this. :D At least it is one pound in the right direction.

Bami - Ellis is right maybe they can do something fun on an evening.

Phins - Congrats on your weight loss and exercise goals. Try not to stray too far off course. As you can see it can be difficult to jump start the locomotive again. I've been perfectly good and I've lost one pound.

Sky - You so funny! I can see you spitting out the jello. Amazing how much you can really taste the sugar in things.

Everyone else - HI

I'm not going to get discourage about the one pound. I've been a little constipated the past couple of days. Not sure why :?: I'm not doing anything different except eating cottage cheese for breakfast. The little Breakstone 5.5 oz cup. My water intake is superior. Even better than before I did the leekfest. I drink a quart of water when I wake up and a quart of water before bed and at least 3 - 4 quarts of green tea in between. My fit day yesterday was at 1300 calories. :?: I dunno

My DS isn't finished with school until June 10. How come all your kids are almost done? He is doing karate for the talent show at school on June 2. It is taking every fiber of my being not to meddle and make sure his routine is just perfect. He doesn't want my help. I was even going to make a special CD for his music and he said no. Why do they have to grow up so fast?

Morning Chickies.

The sun is trying to peek out here. I have a butt load (and if we're talking my butt, you know it's a lot) of work to do here.

Thanks again for all the well wishing! We got into our first disagreement over dinner last night -- I want my brother to walk me down the aisle but she has no one to. so, after about an hour, I ceased and we'll just walk down together :) That way we both get to be the bride the guests "ohhh and ahhh" over.

Just waiting for HB to call me all excited about the flowers. And this is why we never have any money.

No gym yesterday, but I am thinking Saturday would be best. I need to get my car inspected and re-registered at some point this week. Ugh!

Happy Hump Day all. Send some of your sunshine my way, wouldya? :) :) :) I am tired of this rain and gloom!

Hi chickies......graduation is over, my 8th graders are currently leaving, and as soon as the parking lot clears I am out to get some food. I am sooo hungry, but WILL NOT eat the donuts some "kind" parent put in the team room. :nono: Left the refreshment table at grad. and would not even look at the mini muffins and cookies. Kind of low on groceries at home, must shop tonight. Had cottage cheese and pepper strips for breakfast, and that is not enough, considering it was only one and a half hours ago. :hungry:

Logging in here is really keeping me accountable......wanted regular pancakes last night but kept thinking, "then I'd have to tell the chicks" and could not bring myself to do it. Same with the chocolate glazed donuts........must keep hands busy typing. And I lost another pound, so I must keep my goal in sight. :goodscale

Why are we getting out so early? (I think anchor asked that) because we started school August freaking 10th with teachers reporting August 2nd!! Parents have protested so much, as have business owners who rely on tourism, that next year school doesn't start until August twenty something, and gets out June 10 or so.

:?: Now here's a question--(kinda TMI have been on phase 1 since last Monday, with my only off plan cheat being a really big one including an encounter taco bell and a chocolate shake on Sunday night. So, does anyone else experience kind of different smelling pee? Really strong, kind of sweet but not quite......and I don't think it was the asparagus I'd been eating. This is different. Results of detox? I don't know. :dunno:

Bamie--maybe you can invite a few friends over to celebrate? Or do a fancy dinner with the family, in house or restaurant? 8th grade graduation is sweet.

MarineMom--making that switch from girls to juniors/misses must be one of those moments....I remember when my mom decided to do that. I felt so grown up. Must kill a little bit of your heart, though...

Adia---take it easy, let them dote on you, and get well soon. :balloons:

Ruth--have fun in the dirt.

Everyone else, have a great OP day. I think I may be able to get my car out to get some OP food for my hungry tummy.

LC, I hope that your work day is great...if you have to work, it helps if it's gloomy...that way you're not missing much! ;)

Soon, have a great day...staying in bed sounds fantastic! :D

Aileen, have a great day! I remember my 6th grade graduation. It was such a special day...I felt like such a grown up! :smug: I hope your daughter has a super-special day and that you have fun enjoying it with her! :D

Ruth, enjoy all that planting and the lovely weather! It's yucky here but supposed to become nice by tomorrow. I hope so...we had a planned walk at work yesterday that got moved to tomorrow because of rain. I'm looking forward to a long walk with a coworker I haven't talked with in a while. Should be nice! :crossed: I'd love to see pics of your planting when you finish! :D Give those beautiful Girls a good scratch behind the ears from me. Darlings!

Ah, Bamie, there is nothing like the dissapointment of a kid who was expecting something! :( I hope that you can make the day super special for your kiddo. Maybe you guys can go get pedicures or something together...something girlie and 'adult'. ;) Something where YOU can relax! :grouphug:

MnA, enjoy that lacrosse game and :bravo: on the pound! :cp:

Gryff, by tomorrow you may be feeling FULL of energy and pep as you emerge from detox. At the most, by Saturday. Good for you on taking tomatoes too! :bravo:

Sky, about the sugar, but I totally understand and think it's great that you are so committed...that's what will give you success and great health! :D Check the ingredients...technically, we're not supposed to eat any pre-made ice cream, but I actually have some SF ice cream once in a blue moon. I check the ingredients very carefully and try to find ones that are using mostly ingredients I recognize and can pronounce. You can also make ice cream at home...it's fun and yummy! Just check ingredients carefully, okay? There are lots of SF maple syrups out there...you'll find them next to the regular syrups. I actually found DaVinci pancake syrup at TJ Maxx, too, but it's much more expensive than the SF maple syrup you can get in the grocery store. Just as an aside, when making recipes, you can use 1/2 splenda and 1/2 SF maple syrup to substitute for brown sugar. There are also brown sugar substitutes, but they are made by the people who make Sugar Twin and Sweet N'Low, both of which give me headaches. I like the splenda/SF maple syrup combo better. :)

Angel, what a cute couple you are! Just be careful, chickie...wouldn't hurt to drop by the health center on your way to work or such. I lost 26 pounds in 2 weeks on Phase 1 and my TOM didn't skip a beat. :dunno: Each body is different, but better to be safe than sorry, you know?

Ellis, have a great day hon...hope you get a chance to relax with a book today! :D

BB, sorry for the weather, but glad for your deck! I hope you get out there soon and that the weather improves by then! :D

Phins, good to see you! Was wondering yesterday where you were. :bravo: on reaching both goals and so quickly! :cp: :hat: You've worked very hard!!! :D

Amy, congrats on the pound! Sorry about the bad mood...I hope it lifts! :grouphug: The folks down south start school in August so they finish earlier than us northerners. ;) That's how school was in CA, too. :dunno: I've been having horrible probs with constipation even though I'm drinking nearly 3 liters of water a day. :yikes: I've been taking a stool softener each day (metamucil was giving me gas), and last week had to up it to 2. I'm eating my starch a day, and lots of fiber-filled veggies. I'm also exercising a ton. Not sure what gives. :o Hope you feel better soon! Amy, DS still loves you! He's just showing you what a great job you did making him feel secure and confident in his own abilities. Sit back and bask in the enjoyment of a job well started. :D

Jenn, oh...the wedding planning fights! DH and I had so many...but the making up was fun. And it really made it easier for us to discuss things as a married couple...paved the way for the decisions we'd make later, you know? I love the idea of everyone oohing and aahing over you both! :D

Me:
Up a pound today...but last night was a late night, so no worries. :D We had a delicious dinner last night too! DH made these fantastic chipotle BBQ chicken sandwiches and the Kale with tomatoes and black beans from the recipe forum (amazing...and would make a delicious soup!). I'll post the chipotle sandwiches in the Phase 2 forum. Very good! :T

A dear friend is leaving to go back to Japan next week and has promised to cook a dinner for me and another friend tonight. I'm a bit apprehensive about what she'll make. It takes so much time and effort on her part that I didn't feel right about asking for special food for me. :( I'm usually very forceful, but not in cases like this. I'll probably just pick what I can eat and hope she doesn't notice what I'm not eating. :crossed: It'll be nice to hang out either way. :)

DH purchased our patio set last night! We'll get it on Monday and he says he'll set it up in time for us to have lunch out there on Monday when I come home from work. :D Here's the set: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v411/beachgalgarner/patiotable.jpg It's really cute and has a metal lazy suzan in the middle. I'm wondering if I get a bunch of mosquito netting from Jo-Ann's and drape it over the umbrella and down the sides if I could sit out there at night? I'm somehow super attractive to mosquitos and have a violent reaction to the bites. I'll get upwards of 40 bites just sitting outside for a half hour, swathed in Deep Woods Off. :( So if mosquito netting would work, it would be a dream! :D I'm so excited to actually be able to sit outside and just enjoy our garden. We're getting our grill soon too...and then, if the weather would cooperate, we can sit and enjoy! :D

Have a great day, chickies! :D

Mama, if your pee is very dark in color and smells strongly, you may not be getting enough water. Ideally, your pee should be a very light yellow...barely colored. Make sure you're getting 64 oz (or MORE! :D ) of plain water a day, okay?

Major congrats to you on resisting both of your temptations!!! :bravo: I think that's fantastic! Teaching and nursing must be the hardest professions to hold while dieting. People literally put food in front of your face 24/7! Good for you on resisting...and congrats on your last day teaching...you're a free woman!

My post needs to be quick, but I read lots of things I wanted to reply to! So here goes!!! LOL!

GRADUATIONS: Congrats to all of you!!! DD is finising 6th grade tomorrow. I remember her 5th grade graduation last year, so fun. I was in charge of planning the 8h grad. at the school I taught at. I wanted it simple, but the parents kept making it bigger and bigger. I just feel that you need to save some of the "specialness" for their REAL graduation. I was also constantly calling it "Promotion" instead of "graduation!" It is a blast - and I'm sure the simple one at school will be fun too. I'm going to my daughter's 6th grade Award's ceremony tomorrow. I don't think she's getting any, but I still like to go to those things :)

BABIES GROWING UP!: My daughter is in "No-man's land" for clothing! She is a size 12 or 14 Slim, but a 16 in length! A 16 slim with an adjustable waist fits her the best. I bought her a pair of size 1 jeans and they fit pretty good. She also got some handmedowns in sizes 0-3. She is also wearing Women's shirts because kid's shirts are too short. At least the smaller size tees fit her well right now. I remember going from a size 14 to a size 7! I was really depressed, because we started with 3's! Also, she wears one full size larger than me in shoes! (And is only about 2 inches shorter than me!)

Anchor - It's hard to let them do their own thing. DD was in Girl Scouts and they had to do a show. I had to let them do it on their own. It turned out pretty good and it made them proud. Just offer encouragement for the parts you think are great, and he might make the changes on his own. ;)

Hmmmm.... I know a lot of you posted, but I can't respond to y'all this morning.

Oh yeah - MAPLE SYRUP - I use a brand found with the regular syrups. It's Sugar Free and I love it. I also have used Maple Extract before and mixed that into the batter so it had the taste (personally like the real syrup, gives it the right taste.)

I didn't weigh when I got up (TOM is here!) But I slipped on my new shorts, and was surprised that I didn't have to suck it in at all. Curious... I weighed, after I had eaten and with clothes (so I could subtract a few lbs for my real weight!) And I was about 2 lbs lower than I thought. So maybe I'll brave the scale tomorrow morning and see. I think I'm down to 248, but we'll see!

Well, I'm off to finally make a curtain for my front, side window. Someone came over today while I was in the shower and rang the doorbell - I didn't get the door. But I couldn't help but think they were peering into my house and seeing what a mess it was! We've been meaning to put a curtain there for a while, but now I'm going to do it! (I could just clean up the house, but sewing is more fun)

Have a great day.

Busy mornin around the beach! I am taking DD out shopping today and to lunch along with my MIL. Yeah she got a bad deal because DS had a 6th gd grad when we lived in Tn. and we moved that summer that DD would have started 6th gd and since here she went to middle school for 6th she missed it and now this...poor thing! Bless her lil heart! DH was not even goin to go to it but they told him he has to get his passport for work today and the place does not open til 10 so I told him he best be at that baby girls graduation! He was! lol It barely lasted an hour and before it was like 2 hours. I sure hope they don't decide to stop havin 'em when she is a senior! lol! I'm very excited I just called about gettin my windows tinted (wow a black car is really hot) and the guy said bring it in and it'll be done in a couple of hours! WooHoo! I'll get my MIL to follow me over there and drop it off while we shop.

Anchor...We started school July 28th this year. We are/ were extended school where we had 2 weeks off in the fall and spring but it will change next year we will start Aug. 8 get out May 23rd. Only one week in the fall and spring. No I am not happy about it! lol Also we have no weather days as a rule. We have 2 built in and that is it!

BB....Opal is my birthstone...I love them...good luck findin what your lookin for.

Laurie...Love the patio set! Very nice. We have one via the previous home owners..DH got in negotiations for the house! He likes to bargain with peeps!

Well I wanted to reply to everyone but I am out of time! Have a great afternoon everyone!

Whew! Back from the food run, and have emerged virtually unscathed. Decided on Brueggers Bagels with a coworker thinking they would have salads.....alas, NOT! So, I had a turkey bagel on whole wheat with lots of veggies and low fat cream cheese, and took off the top so I only had the skinny bottom part. Not great, but not as bad as it could have been, I guess. Also stopped at the grocery store on the way back and picked up some nuts and RF cheese to keep here for other emergencies. Chased it with a latte with skim milk. Yum! I love coffeehouse coffee! :coffee: Funny how once you're fed, the donuts and muffins don't look half as good :p ....... And get this, on my way to the store, others were like,"there's food here, why spend money. One muffins won't matter." Then "wow, you're really committed." :D

I am drinking LOTS of water, so it must have been the asparagus...

Laurie, The mosquito netting may be a bit difficult around the patio table....the buggers will fly in under it. At least on a bed you can tuck the netting under the mattress........these things just came out that are supposed to emit radiowaves or something to repel mosquitos for 8 feet. Don't know if it's a scam or not, may be worth checking into....Kind of defeats the purpose, but what about those mosquito tents people use when they're camping? Don't know how that would work around the umbrella, though. :?:

Hottie---good luck on the curtains! Sewing is so out of my league, I admire anyone with enough patience to do it. And the finished product usually looks so beautiful.

See you later!

Hey Laurie that yard spray seems to work ok. I used it last year. I would love to have one of those skeeter repellers like Adia put a link to but there are just so many other things I want right now that are far above that. lol

I am soooo tired and my knee is gettin pretty stiff from all that shopping! Well I'm off to the couch!

Thanks for the wonderful suggestions, chicks! :thanks: Unfortunately, money is an issue... :( Adia, that looks wonderful, but I poked around and they cost $499-1,195! :yikes: Bamie, how does the spray work? I've tried the incense thingy (the coil), and the lantern thing. Neither worked.

Good point about the netting. If it pools at the bottom, like if there are extra inches on the bottom that bunch up when the hit the floor, do you think the buggers will be able to crawl under it? :chin:

They make really nice gazebos with mosquito netting or screen netting on all four sides...but again, it's an expense. :dunno:

Man - I've become hooked on Fit day .com  I can't wait to run all my foods through it. I'm even doing my own custom foods! I'm at approx 1300 again today.

Mosquitos love me too. I used to live on a lake  Not very sexy when you spend your entire life covered in deep woods off. Lately I've been using a little electronic gizmo that repels with sound. I hook it through my beltloop - it's made by sunbeam. It works pretty good. I was pouring beer at an outdoor fundraiser last year and the bees were terrible before I got there. They didn't bother anyone while I was there then when I left the bee's started swarming. They made me leave the gizmo behind. But I ordered like 6 of them though a catalog.

Ya, I know, way late for posting, but it's a good exercise! Busy last few weeks.
I've been behaving and seeing results on phase 1 again. Will be done on Sunday. Look forward to some fruit, but this time it hasn't been too difficult. I sunny weather makes all the difference in the world for me.

Dealt with this guy in the ER. His mom is doing this site for all the people that are trying to keep up info on him. I'm sure it's therapeutic for her as well.

Well, I'm off to throw some tomatoes and green peppers in the garden then I'm going for a bike ride.

Hugs to all.
