It's Challenge time!

1. First, its awful that there were only four posts on the exercise board last week! MOVE! POST! I am guilty in a big way here, so this week, I am going to set my goal of just three, but strive for four. How about you??

2. Its a holiday next Monday, so lots of Memorial Day parties, as well as graduation parties, etc. are going to be happening. What are your plans? Plan and post your game plan for staying on program over the holiday weekend. ( you know they say failing to plan is planning to fail!)

Morning all!

It's a beautiful, warm day here, although we are supposed to have storms by the end of the day. It's a good morning for a walk . .

I had a good, restful weekend--exactly what I needed. Now I'm ready to get back to work with a vengence.

Monet--Good challenges. I've been invited to a friend's lake house for at least part of the weekend (I have to work on Monday). I will take 100% WW buns for the inevitable cookout and snacks I can enjoy (fresh fruit, veggies, SF snacking items I can enjoy noshing on).

I hope everyone has a good OP day and week!

Good morning...

Another sunny day here and I did have a good night sleep. I finally planted some daylilies in yesterday and was so happy when I discovered that I get a good bargain for the amount I paid for each pot. In each pot, I have about 10 plants or more...wow...I was so happy because I do not have to buy as much as I think I do for the yard. I need to go back to get more.

Today is dh's off day as well so I might not get here much. In half an hour, we will drop off my van to replace the brakes and then we will be off to Ethan Ellen to meet with the designer there. They offer a complimentary designer service if we "intend" to buy furniture from there. I saw the Armoire and dining table I like but will not get them at the same time. Today's meeting does not tie us to buying anything...just get some feedback on the Armoire placement. Dh was worried that she was going to force the entire Ethan Ellen store on me....sheesh! If I know he is so afraid, I would not have talk to the designer at all. She made it very clear that we can do only one piece and it doesn't matter and so did we. Gosh...I hate it when dh starts to be overly cautious and critical, it really damp my spirit. I know myself well enough to know that I am not the type of person that would buy anything or spend insanely just because someone asks me to. I know what we need and that's all I am getting plus...I needed some opinion/help and the service is freee!!!!! I am sorry for dumping my frustration so early in the morning, it is just that my dh has this way of damping my spirit sometimes...with his over-criticalness and his over-cautiousness like everyone is out to get him!! Argh!

I better get change and will try to check in later if I can. Otherwise, have a good day everyone!!

Julia

Here we are in the last week of school! :D WOooHooo!

I went to the dance recital this weekend and it wasn WONDERFUL! The girls have improved so much this year! Rachel will be moving up to the next level this summer, si we are excited! :dancer: Their ballet teacher was new this year and has been with Atlanta Ballet for ten years, so they are really getting a lot from her! They will continue to go to class two days a week right through the summer.

Monet-My family loves onion rings. We would love to get your recipe! :hungry:

Keng-I have daylilies that are already blooming this year! They are huge! I planted them two years ago and they have really taken off! Can't wait to try your recipes!

Mum- My son is insulin resistant so we use that excuse for not eating sugar. Most people who are overweight are also insulin resistant or pre-diabetic anyway!

Pancho-congratulations on finding the good deals!

Fillise-love the pics!

Tech-yea! You are where I hope to be eventually! ;)

Everyone have a great week! Enjoy this wonderful early summer weather!

Good Morning everyone:

Our garage sale went well; made nearly $400, which surprised me since we live in a rural area, and I didn't think anyone would drive so far. We did sell some big ticket items (concrete mixer, crib, cradle, dresser), but the rest was just little stuff that added up. Britt made nearly $25 on her stuff.

This is my week to get back on track with eating and exercise. It's not always easy to post on the exercise board, but I will do my best. I don't have high speed, so it takes forever to do anything. I may just post it all in one post at the end of the week. I was at 122# this morning, and I'd like to see 120# before our trip the end of June.

As far as Memorial Day...we never do anything too exciting. We will probably just cook out here, and it will be legal.

Mum: Lots of people don't eat dessert; you don't have to explain, just say, "no thanks." We never order dessert when we go out to dinner. I am part of a Mom's Club, and I have been there for over five years now, so everyone saw me gain my preg. weight. We go out one night a month for a Mom's Night Out. I remember the pressure at first, when everyone was ordering their junk dinners and I was ordering a burger without the bun and a salad, or something of that sort, and would get the comments of, "how can you eat a burger without the bun...it's the best part." They would then all order dessert and I would pass. They gave me crap about that too. At the end of the night, they would be so miserable, they could hardly walk, and I felt light and not overfull at all. I was ready to go do something else, and they were ready for bed  . I now get calls from those moms asking me how I did it (now that I am 32#'s lighter than I was). When you go out to dinner, you have to make the best choice out of the choices you have. Stay away from the obvious...bread, alcohol, dessert, potatoes, etc...and do the best with the rest. OR, if you rarely go out to dinner (like us), allow that to be a free day and order what you want, in moderation. Some are able to get right back on plan after that while others struggle, so you will have to make that decision. It always helps me to not feel deprived if I give myself an occasional free meal or day. You'll do fine!

Ken: Hope Jess feels better soon. How fun...a furniture designer. Your DH sounds just like mine. My DH analyzes things to death; and it makes me crazy. He is so non-trusting and has no reason to be that way. I tend to be a little too trusting, and maybe shouldn't be....but that's who I am. Have fun!

Toni: Sorry you had a bad eating day. It happens to the best of us. Just jump back on and hold on for the long ride.

Monet: Glad you got your pool back to normal. My DH wants a pool, but I feel like they are just too much of a hassle. Good challenges; I'll do my best to meet them.

Fillise: Glad you got some much needed rest!

Thin: Glad the recital went so well!!

Well, I gotta go wash my face and get dressed. Have a great OP day!

GOOD MONDAY AFTERNOON ALL YOU BUSTIN BEAUTY BUDDYS!!!

Went this morning for another injection on my neck area and let's hope I get better relief than the first one! It last one week and then POOF....it was back to the unbearable pain. SO....keep those fingers and toes crossed for BOB!!

The wedding was BEAUTIFUL and everything went off without a hitch! I did my coordinating job just fine and got everyone up to the alter and back after the ceremony. The Brides Father and I got the banquet room decorated and set up for the dinner. The food wasn't too good, but at least we could eat it! The BRIE was DEVINE!!! OH....MY....GAWD!!! I had two big pieces of that! I did have a few drinks, but nothing to be worried about...I went to my room afterward and passed out..not from the drink, but from being dog arsed tired. Came home though at some point, and held my breath the whole way home because it was graduation weekend and the cops were out in force! I made it home though and climbed into my bed!
Tom (the DF of the Bride) gave me the tip money for the DJ, but at my table was a Cop friend and when he asked me what the money was for, he said absolutely not...the guy was getting $500 anyway and he had never heard of tipping the DJ...SO...he told me to take the money and put it in the WISHING WELL for the Kids...they would need it more...I told Deb (Mom) that I was going to do it before I actually put it in there and she said OK....
We're just hoping the Tom didn't ask the guy if he got his tip .... :s:

No plans for me on the holiday weekend...I think I have to work on Monday, so no out of town ventures.

I'm off to recline...The Doc told me that I would have a lot of pressure....AND I DO!!! Did y'all know the human head weighs 12 lbs and presses on the spinal cord?

I'll check in later...

Howdy all. I'm kind of in a rush so will make this fast. I've had a wonderful morning fixing stuff for the week. I made a waldorf coleslaw I saw on the food net work. Its from George Stella's Low carb and lovin it. Hope its good. I also made a breakfast casserole and froze some in serving sizes. Thank you ladies for the recipes. Last but not least sliced some strawberries in splenda for a treat. I'm glad I'm done with all that but it sure gave me inspiration. Having to go out of town to Wal Mart soon as DH has his lunch.

Pancho- Wow your yard sale sounds great. Wish I'd have been their to buy the cement mixer for DH.

Thin- Sounds as if your Rachael is doing so good with her dance class. Congrads to her for moving up.

Julia- I hope your trip to Ethan Allen turns out well. Sometimes Dh's can sure ruin a day!

Fillise- Don't work to hard this week.....

Monet- My memorial day will probably not be to hard since we'll be staying home. Not ready for my treadmill yet. Just trying to get my eating under control. I will though get going on some exercise.

Have a happy day!

Good afternoon ladies.

Whew! what a weekend. The wedding on Friday, Saturday my DD and SIL moved back in with us until they sell their house so we had to clean her old room (which was a pig sty) then a graduation party that night. Yesterday we left at (:00 for church and got home at 6:30 after errands and another graduation party. Then had to work out in the yard.

SUnday we are having a graduation party for the girls. About 100+ kids will be there at some point. Lots to do this week. I need to get a daily list to work off. Still trying to finish up some things around the house too before I have to start cooking. My mind is racing with all the lists of food and things to do. Just pray we have nice weather and we can be outside.

Bob, I hope your shot works better this time. Take it easy. Glad the wedding was fun. Ours was too.

Monet, Don't think I'll get in much exercise this week with the graduation party this weekend. Too much to do. But back at it hard next Monday. I probably will spend my Memorial day cleaning up from the party and then crashing.

Toni, Sounds like you are very prepared for this week.

Susan, glad you had a restful weekend. Mine was crazy with all the running and this week won't be any better.

Ken, Hope you gots lots of tips on your furniture. I found the tables I was looking for, now just need to figure out how to pay for them.

Thin, glad the recital was good. I loved those things when my girls danced. They necer did point. I really like that.

Nat, Wow, what a great yeard sale. I bet Britt was excited with what she earned.

Got to run, thought of something else I need to order.

Tonight, I used my new pressure cooker, and made beef stew. Oh, my gosh, it was AWESOME! I remember my mother making what we called a BBQ beef stew in her pressure cooker, but I had forgotten what a fabulous job it does of tenderizing tough meat! Total cooking time was 30 minutes, and the meat was falling apart.

I have gone hog wild on the sprouts! I have two large bowls I de-hulled today, and will leave out to get some air and light tomorrow, then put in the fridge. I love putting a big handful on a sandwich. Which reminds me:

Menu:
Breakfast: two ww waffles, bacon, water
Lunch: ham and swiss on ww bread with lots of sprouts
Dinner: Beef stew, salad
Snack: handful of macadamia nuts, ice tea sweetened with agave
two diet cokes with splenda

I am going to climb into bed soon. I am achy and feel good tired. After dinner, I set up my target on the new stand that I got the hardware for today, and shot some. My new purple arrows fly like a dream, and it was a lot of fun tonight. My fingers are sore, because I forgot to look for my glove until they were getting sore from pulling the bowstring. I want to shoot some each day, because on the 4th, when I have the arts team party, the ad min from church is coming and bringing his bow and arrows and we are going to have a contest! I really want to win!

Its time for bed, so I wish you all sweet dreams!

Hey, guys. I've been busy cleaning all day, haven't even had the time for exercise. With the way my eating has been since last Fall(bingeing), I've just about had enough. I've come up with my own therapy which I hope will work. A Food Journal. I've written in it several times today. The main thing is to see when I want to overeat,etc...what triggers it. I hope that I will be eventually able to have off-plan foods without going on a binge. Like eating a slice of cake at a party but getting right back on track with the next meal. Seems simple to most, but it's a personal demon I've been fighting. I've done good with my eating today as far as being legal. I had a little too much at supper, but overall okay. I'll post my exercise tomorrow on the board. Didn't have time to do any today, my house was a wreck and I couldn't stand it being dirty any longer. Boogie has recovered from his shots, although he "milked" it for 2 days later, lol. The white sweet potato-- was pretty good actually. Like 1/2 regular spud with a slight sweet potato taste and texture. Wish I could find them around here. Here's my menu for today:

BF- was an orange and SF yogurt
Lunch- bowl of steamed veggies, a dozen almonds, and sf yogurt
Supper-had 2(should have been only 1)grilled chicken breasts, salad with Ranch dressing, and a delicious sweet potato(butter, cinnamon, and splenda).
Dessert- SF fudge bar

Pancho- I'm sure you will see 120 again soon, before planned.
Tech- great going on the new low. That's my ticker weight, but not what I am right now, unfortunately.

Alright, I gotta go!

Howdy ya'll. My eating has not been very good the last couple of days. If you saw me eating you'd have no idea I follow the Sugar Buster way of eating. Oh well, tomorrow is a new day right. :) I was unable to get to the board over the weekend so I need to go back and get caught up.

I'm at mama's this evening so I need to make this short.

Love and hugs,
Crystle

Happy Tuesday,

Thought I would start off everyone Tuesday with a Tuesday Tip. I received this email this morning and thought someone might find something in it to motivate them.

Eleven Great Ways to Get Motivated to Exercise

You know you've got to get moving. You resolve to park the car a few blocks from work, take the stairs, and hit the gym after work. But a few weeks pass and before you know it, parking spots start opening up right in front of the building, the elevator is already in the lobby, and you've worked late every night that week. It's not that you don't know how to get fit, you just can't seem to stay motivated. We all know people who are religious with their workouts. So, what's their secret?
We asked fitness experts and regular Joes alike how they stick with their routine. These methods keep them moving; maybe one will work for you.

1. Embarrass Yourself
Make a mark on your calendar every time you make it to the gym or park. Seeing your motivation (or lack thereof) in black and white helps keep you going. Suzanne Schlosberg and Liz Neporent, authors of Fitness for Dummies, Second Edition (IDG Books Worldwide, Inc., 2000), suggest "whether you write your goals on the side of your shoe or in your training diary, glancing at them on a daily basis will help keep you focused and motivated. Some people tape their goals to their bathroom mirror or refrigerators." Do whatever works to make you remember what you promised yourself.

2. Join a Club That Wouldn't Have You for a Member
So you're not Steffi Graf. That doesn't mean you can't join a tennis team. Richard Cotton, chief exercise physiologist for the American Council on Exercise, says "joining a club, team or finding an exercise partner ... provides a support system and someone to simply share the experience with. Often times just knowing someone will be asking you 'How's it going?' can be the difference between exercise success and failure."

3. Love Thy Neighbor and Love Thyself
You can't leave a neighbor standing on the corner checking her watch. She knows where you live. Miriam Nelson, director of the Center for Physical Fitness at Tufts University and the author of Strong Women Stay Young and Strong Women Stay Slim (Bantam Doubleday Dell, 1999), says, "When I make a date with a neighbor to go for a run I keep it, and we have a great time." She also plans a regular appointment with her neighbors. "Saturday mornings several of my neighbors come over and we lift weights together; it's a great way to start the weekend," she says.

4. Challenge Yourself
Working toward an event — like a 5K walk or run, or an overnight bike trip to a faraway bed and breakfast — keeps you on track. Every time you exercise you'll be closer to meeting your goal. "The minute you mail in your entry fee, you'll have a whole new sense of purpose. And the feeling of accomplishment you get from completing your event is like nothing else," say Schlosberg and Neporent.

5. Dance, Dance, Dance
"Music is a fantastic motivator," says Michael Olajide Jr., a former professional boxer and inventor of Aerobox workout routines. "It can push you to do more and to exercise longer, even longer than you planned." Who doesn't get a surge of energy every time they hear their favorite tune? Plus, it's the perfect excuse to get that new CD.

6. Don't Count the Miles
"Do not work out to burn calories or lose weight," says Emme, plus-size model, author and columnist. "There are more important things than burning calories taking place during your workout. Newfound self-esteem and stress reduction are just two positive aspects of many that come to mind." If you're always focusing on burning off your morning doughnut, of course exercise seems like a chore. Try exercising for the sake of your health, not your body.

7. Find the Fun
Forget about the "no pain, no gain" attitude. "The mind, body and soul connection is very important here, don't forget to have fun," says Emme. Pick an activity you've always loved, like biking or walking outdoors. The more enjoyable it is, the more likely you'll stick with it.

8. Make It a Family Affair
"When I go for a run I entice one of my kids to go with me — he or she goes on their bike and I run. It's a great way to be together with my kids," says Miriam Nelson. Who better to egg you on than the ones who love you best!

9. Learn to Love Lycra
"Buying snazzy new workout shorts or comfy new cross-trainers can really get you fired up to work out, " say Schlosberg and Neporent. Once you realize how much better the right equipment makes a workout, you'll be loving your sports bra as much as soccer star Brandi Chastain.

10. Dive for Dollars
Money is the ultimate motivator. Put a dollar in a jar every time you make it to the gym. At the end of a month, treat yourself to a massage. You'll be at the gym more often than the trainers.

11. It's About Time
"My mood motivates me to work out, so timing is everything," says Kathy Kaehler, personal trainer and author. If you aren't up for a workout don't feel guilty about postponing. On the other hand, exercise has been known to improve a bad mood. Work out your aggressions in the gym instead of at home or work.

Fitness Facts You Should Know

Fitness Fact 1. Studies have suggested that walking at a brisk pace for three or more hours a week can reduce your risk for coronary heart disease by 65 percent.
Fitness Fact 2. About 25 percent of American adults — and an even greater percentage of women — are sedentary. After age 44, upwards of 30 percent of women are sedentary, and by age 65, the proportion increases to almost 35 percent. By the time they reach age 75, about 50 percent of all women are sedentary.

Fitness Fact 3. Only about 22 percent of American adults engage in regular, sustained physical activity for at least 30 minutes five times a week, and only 15 percent exercise both regularly and vigorously.

Fitness Fact 4. No matter how poor your current level of fitness, you can start an exercise routine and become fitter and healthier. Even 90-year-old women who use walkers have been shown in studies to benefit from light weight training.

Fitness Fact 5. Simply adding movement into your daily routine can increase your level of fitness. For example, if you park in the last row of the parking lot and walk briskly five minutes each way between your office and your car, walk up and down the stairs at your office during your 10-minute afternoon coffee break, and walk the dog for 10 minutes when you get home, you've racked up 30 minutes of exercise for the day.

Fitness Fact 6. Women with heart disease or arthritis actually experience improved daily function from involvement in various modes of physical activity.

Fitness Fact 7. Fitness consists of four components: your body's ability to use oxygen as a source of energy, which translates into cardiovascular fitness; muscular strength and endurance; flexibility; and body composition.

Fitness Fact 8. To address all the components of fitness, an exercise program needs to include aerobic exercise, which is continuous repetitive movement of large muscle groups that raises your heart rate; weight lifting or strength training; and flexibility exercises or stretching.

Fitness Fact 9. Walking at a brisk pace (a 15-minute mile or 4 mph) burns almost as many calories as jogging for the same distance. The benefit of jogging is that it takes less time to cover the same distance and it benefits the bones; however, it may be too strenuous for some.

Fitness Fact 10. It takes about 12 weeks after starting an exercise

Good morning...

I woke up a little tired and cranky this morning but slowly shaking them out of my system. I hate being such a grouchy mommy...lol. Besides being grouchy, I was hungry so I made some ww pancakes for breakfast. It was just what I needed...lol.

Nothing much planned for today except going to Lowes to get some more daylilies. They have the cheapest deal so far and I am going to take advantage of it. I am hoping to visit the local library as well but not sure if I will do it today.

Anyway, my menu for today :

Breakfast : 2 1/2 medium pancakes, 1 scrambled egg with cheese and 2 small sausages.

Snack : Not sure if I would have any.

Lunch : Baked salmon with ginger dressing marinated, brown rice pilaf and some sort of veggies.

Snack : Yogurt and fruits.

Dinner : I have no idea yet.

Some replies :

THIN : The kids must looked so cute at the dance recital. I haven't been to one but I have a feeling that it might be an emotional thing for me :)Yes, daylilies are awesome and my next door neighbor planted some last year and this year they multiplied so much. They are just beautiful!! I am only starting this year and can't wait to see how them grow. Daylilies are everywhere, almost everyone has it and I can understand why :)

PANCHO : Glad your garage sale went well. It must be such a relief to get rid of things that you don't need and also occupied the space in the house. I am sure dh and I can use a garage sale too :) It amazes me everytime I think about how opposite most couples are. I know that is a very good reason why it is that way. God obviously knows better than we do. I know it won't be good if dh is like me...lol.

BOB : I am keeping my fingers-crossed for you. No pain...no pain!! Now that the wedding is over, does it mean we will get to spend more time with you? :)

TONI : Can I come over to your house to eat? Yum...yum...I love prepared meals, don't have to plan last min is definitely good.

JACK-k : 100 kids??? Oh my, you need to go kidnap Monet so you don't have to work as hard...lol. Hope all goes well. What do you plan to make for the party?
Glad you finally found the tables you want :)

MONET : Beef stew sounds good especially when it was done in 30 mins. It amazes me how someone discovered a technology like a pressure cooker. What is next recipe to try out in the pressure cooker?

HEART : Everyone has different challenges and it is a big deal no matter how small it may seem to other people. I commend you on not giving up on your challenges. I know someday you will concur your challenges.

COUNTRY : Welcome back on track :)

Okay, got to go...Jess is nagging me to take her outside to play. Gosh...it is hot out there so I am not looking forward to it. Will check in later.

Morning all!

Belle and I are settling in for, hopefully, a good day's work (Belle has a little pillow on my desk that she curls up on while I work).

I've restocked the pantry with good foods--lots of veggies. I think I'm going to grill some veggies for tonight--YUM!

Jackie--Interesting fitness facts! It sounds like you have been molto busy! Don't wear yourself out, but have fun.

Country--You know what to do!!!!!

Heart--The food journal sounds like a good plan. I write down everything that goes in my mouth and it really helps!

Monet--The archer lady is back!!!!! I haven't heard you talk about your archery in a long time! Have fun!

Toni--The Waldorf salad sounds great!

BOB--So glad the hear that the wedding went well! Sounds like you did a great job. I hope this injection works too!!! You need to have some relief from that pain!

Nat--Wow--great yard sale! You gave great advice to Mum! I remember the first time I went out to eat on SB. I didn't fill up on bread before dinner, ate my salad, my meat and some steamed veggies. No potato. At the end of the meal everyone was complaining about how miserable they were and I thought "I feel satisfied." That was a powerful learning moment!

Thin--enjoy the freedom! I love the dance recitals--they are always sooooo cute!

Keng--Hope you are doing well. Enjoy the summer with Julia--it will be a special time as you wait together for her new little sibling!

I hope everyone has a great OP day!

Good Morning! I got up earlier than I wanted to, and tried to get some stuff done. I don't think I accomplished much, but I feel like I have been busy and its not even 11 yet!

I woke up this morning with a blister on my finger where the arrows hit. A good reason to remember to wear my shooting glove!

Tonight, I am going to cook some chicken breasts in the pressure cooker and see how they turn out. I may use a homemade teriyaki style sauce and fix some rice to go with it. In fact, I may do the rice in the cooker first, then do the chicken.

I havested a huge bag of radish sprouts this morning. I think I went over board on the amount I was sprouting! Especially when James told me this morning they gave him indigestion and not to serve him any anymore. I don't believe him, but when he gets these ideas, its best to humor him! :)
I may go out to lunch, but I really don't want to, since I want to eat sprouts!

If I am not on tomorrow, its because James is having surgery in the morning. I will have to go and sit and wait. I may go try and find a good book to read. I will check in as soon as I can.

FILLISE: My archery was kind of on hold...Tom wanted to build me a target stand, but never had time. I just bought a stand with a gift certificate the church gave me and I am back in business! :) Unfortunately, I have to be careful not to shoot when the cats are out!

KENG: I am going to try a chicken recipe tonight, with boneless chicken breasts. I am not sure how I will fix them, but I am thinking of using soy sauce, ginger, green onions and sesame oil on them. With some veggies thrown in and served on rice, it might be pretty good! :)

JACK: Thanks for posting the facts and tips! I read part of them, and will finish the rest when I am done with replies. Wow...100 kids! That is brave!

COUNTRY: When you are not eating on plan is when you need to be on here! That is why I am on here so much! :lol3:

HEART: Journaling is a great idea! I hope it helps. Poor Boogie! Shots are no fun!

TONI: That is great how you are planning ahead! I love that breakfast casserole...I am toying with making one too!

BOB: I am sure with all your brains, your head must weigh at least 15 pounds! :) Send me all your times. I want to see what all you cook, and how long it takes. I think this is going to be the beginnings of some changes at SpaMonet's kitchen!

PANCHO: I am glad the garage sale went so well! The heat sounds horrible though! I guess you have to make sure you drink a lot of water when you are out, right?

THIN: The recipe for onion rings is easy: 1 large yellow onions (you can use Vidalia or sweet onions, but the yellows have more flavor) cut into slices and separated into rings

Mix together: 1 cup milk, 1/4 cup oil, 1 egg, salt and pepper. When well blended, beat in 1 cup ww flour and 1 teaspoon baking powder.

Put 1/2 cup flour in a bowl. Dip onion rings into flour, then into batter. Fry in 375 degree oil until golden brown. I thinned it a bit and used it for shrimp and it was pretty good.
Guess that does it for me!

Good afternoon everyone. I'm having a wonderful lazy day today. I was so busy yesterday I thought I would take a day for myself today. My eating has been good. And I'm hopeing for a loss tomorrow. Hopeing, hopeing, hopeing! Breakfast- egg and sausage casserole Lunch- canalope and waldorf coleslaw. S- hard boiled egg Dinner- hamburger and cabbage dish and strawberries.

Monet- Thank you so much for that onion ring recipe. I'm going to try them this week end. It will be a treat for my DH. Your pressure cooker food sounds so good. I can't wait to find out how your chicken turns out.

Bob- Oh my gosh the shots sound awful. I do hope you have some relief from all the pain you've been in.

Jack-K- Wow!!! Are you kidding a 100 kids!!!! Girlfriend you're going to need a day at the spa after that. You must have nerves of steel. It makes me sweat just thinking about fixing food and stuff for that many people!!

Heartmom- I sure have the same problem with my eating. When I look back over the past year I can't believe I'm no where near where I want to be. Sure hope the journaling works.

CountryMom- Just hop back up in this old wagon and start again with better eating.... Doesn't that just make ya crazy when you get off plan.....

Julia- I'm sure your daylilies are going to look so pretty. I love them too.

Fillise- Belle sounds so sweet on her little pillow. I've got my dog laying by me and he's so much company.

Well need to finish up here and head in for a nap.... Ahhh a lazy day!!!

Good afternoon ladies

Busy ordering food again today. I keep changing my mind. Not sure if I will have enough and then will probably have waay to much. There is a misunderstanding. I am having 100 people and about 25-40 kids (22 year olds) Not 100 kids. I would kill myself. There will probably be about 15-20 small children, but as long as their parents are watching them, it will be fine.

Ken, sorry you are cranky today. Hope your mood improves. Could you share your brown rice pilaf recipe? I love rice pilaf. I am having quite a few things, mainly turkey, BBQ, chicken salad, hot wings, and many hordevours (sp) type things. It is not 100 kids, but 100 people plus about 25 22 year olds. To me they are still kids.

Susan, I actually love the party planning even though I am kitchen challenged. I have lots of people helping fix some things.

Monet, glad you are enjoying your archery again. Some days you may want to shoot when the kittens are out. Just kidding.

Heart, journeling is a good idea. I hope it really helps keep you on track. I think I may start on that myself next week.

Toni, you should take a day out for yourself. See my not to Ken about the kids. Have a nice restful day.

Have a great day.

Good afternoon,

I am beat up...haha...just from putting in some daylilies into the ground. I am so out of shape plus with the big tummy now, squarting was definitely a challenge. I feel like I need a good nap...lol. Thia is embarassing...lol. The daylilies at Lowes are disappearing fast and I almost didn't find anything but managed to get few pots of nice red ones which I hope will look beautiful. I still have to go back to get one more pot to fill up the space I allocated for the red ones. I will head out after a little rest.

Lunch was good, not exactly the same menu but close. I made the salmon with ginger dressing, basmati rice pilaf (didn't have time to wait for brown rice to cook), sauteed spinach and green beans from the can. I feel that I needed lots of veggies today. I think my body was telling me that so I opened a can of green beans. Jess loves "can" green beans compared to any other veggies I know.

Some replies :

FILLISE : You and Belle are so perfect together. What a wonderful relationship you both have. I am certainly going to cherish my summer with Jess and hubby, I know I will have less strength and time after the baby comes. Anyhow, I know it is just going to be temporary.

MONET : Don't you just love it when you feel that you are productive? I wish I feel like that everyday...lol, at least I know my home will be much tidier. Your chicken breast recipe tonight sounds good, I am sure it will turn out well.

TONI : Wonderful lazy day sounds like my kind of day...lol. Enjoy! Love your yummy menu today...I am envious because I ran out of my breakfast casserole....lol. Have a good nap :)

That's for now. I think i will go into my room to lay down for few mins.

JACK-K : 100 kids or adults that is a lot of people, do you have any help in the cooking department? My brown rice pilaf can be any combination you like. It depends on my time and mood, I will add different things. I usually sauteed some chopped veggies like onions, mushrooms, green peppers, garlic, some chicken boullion, dried spices together in olive oil. Salt and pepper to taste. When the veggies are almost cooked to my desire texture, I add in some cooked brown rice and sauteed them together. I taste it to see if I like how it tastes or if I need to add more salt, spices etc. Once I am satisfied, it is ready to serve. You can certainly add some dried fruits or even nuts to the rice. Another simple version that I made is using white basmati rice. This is how I made it today. Heat up some olive oil in the rice pot, add some chopped onions, then chopped garlic, paprika, chicken bouillon (not too much), salt and pepper, dried spices like parsley, basil etc. Mix them together and then add my uncooked basmati rice. Sauteed until the rice is well mixed with the veggies mixtures and then add some water and put the cover on. Bring the rice mixture to a boil and then turn the heat to simmer. I usually simmer about 15 to 20 mins and then I turn off the heat. I add in some frozen green peas at this point and incorporate the peas into the rice by fluffing the rice. Put the cover back and let it steam (heat off) until you are ready to eat. Basically any combination of flavour you like. Hope my directions are not too confusing. I am not good at writting out my own recipe :)

Just checking in...Laura talked me into making her a batch of the beef stew, since the guys ate it all up last night. I think she liked it. :) I need to put the leftovers in the fridge and James can eat it after his surgery. Beef stew is a nice comfort food....
Then I am going to get going on tonights concoction! I found a few sites online with pressure cooker recipes, so I will use them as guides. I think I can get into this fast cooking! Its awesome!

Lunch was supposed to be out with a neighbor, but I could not get in touch with her, so I ate here. I still have not heard from her, so I am assuming she forgot. That is quite all right, as I wanted to eat sprouts anyway! I had two brown rice cakes with ham, cheese, and sprouts, and some crab with sprouts and mayo on it. For a snack, I had a taste of the beef stew I fixed for Laura.

Dinner tonight will be chicken, rice and nappa cabbage.

 I will be back later!

Good afternoon everyone:

Lane has reminded me all day what a beautiful day it is. She keeps saying, "it's a beautiful day, isn't it mommy?" It's hotter than the dickens, and she sees the beauty in the day; how sweet. It really is pretty right now though; all the Palo Verde trees are yellow and the sahuaro cactus' have white flowers all over the tops of them. There are baby quail and baby bunnies all over. Sitting in the air conditioning looking out, it can be quite beautiful ;) .

DH is picking up Britt from school today and taking her out for ice cream, and then to spend some of the money she made at the garage sale; she made nearly $25...which I thought was pretty darn good. I guarantee you, she will buy something for Lane, or me or her teacher or someone other than just herself because that is how she is. She is so giving and loving, and so unselfish!!

MONET....YOU OWE ME MORE MONEY!!!  . Thanks for sending me to Michael's for those summer crafts; I just spent $95. I got a bunch of really great stuff though, and the kids will definately have lots to do! I just have to tell my DH now :( .

O.K. I don't want to offend anyone here, or upset anyone...but, I just wanted to remind you all what we were saying back when it was cold out and we were making our comfort foods and eating all those no-no's. We all said that when the weather warmed up and all the good produce was out that we were going to be on plan and lose the weight that we gained during those winter months!!! Well, the time is here! No more excuses...let's do it!!! There are lots of BBQ's and parties, but there is almost always something legal....salads, fruits, meats/cheeses. Even a dreaded piece of watermelon will be better than a brownie or slice of pie. I'm not pointing fingers because I am as guilty as anyone else. I do know that it is much easier to eat the right foods now though. I have so many fresh fruits and veggies in the fridge now that I am anxious to dig into. Let's get to it and do it!! NO MORE EXCUSES.

BOB: It sounds as if the wedding went wonderfully. I am sure you are happy to have it behind you though.

Toni: Planning ahead is such a good motivator to stay on track. I used to make pitas, legal muffins, etc..ahead of time and it kept me so much on plan. I gotta get back to that. I found an awesome muffin recipe in a cookbook that I am going to try to modify a bit to make SB legal. If they turn out, I will have to post the recipe. I hope you see a loss tomorrow.

Jack: Sounds like you had a very busy weekend. You have got your work cut out for you with all those people. 100 people in any shape or form is still an awful lot of people. Good luck...you're gonna need it :p . Thanks for the tips/facts; they are always so fun to read.

Monet: All this talk about the pressure cooker makes me want to keep mine (just kidding). It sure sounds like a time saver. I know my mom would put frozen meat in there, and it would be ready in less than an hour. I used to love to eat sprouts on everything until I kept reading about the bacteria found in most sprouts. I've stayed away from them for awhile now; It's nice to be able to grow your own! Good luck to James tomorrow during surgery; I am sure all will go well! Keep practicing with those bows and you'll whip the competition. I am sure it is great arm exercise. I know after shooting darts for too long, my arm starts to hurt.

Heart: I think a journal is a great idea. I remember what an eye-opener it was for me when I first started journaling. I think you will find that some of your sweet cravings are coming after your diet soda consumption. I found that was happening to me. I ordered Tony & the Kids video from Beachbody for the girls. They always want to exercise when I do, and this is geared toward children. It hasn't come in yet, but we can do it this summer to keep them moving, and out of the heat.

Country: Every day is a new day...put yesterday behind you and jump back on the SB wagon today. You are an old pro; you'll be back on track in no time.

Ken: Grouchy...what???? You are pregnant and it is summer; do you need any other excuses??? . How'd the meeting with the decorator go? My DH and I balance eachother out quite well. I am the uptight control freak, and he is the laid back, level-headed one.

Fillise: Just picturing Belle on your desk makes me smile; how cute is that! I agree with you. I always try to remind myself how eating to satisfaction is so much more pleasurable than eating to finish or until I am stuffed. I would much rather walk than waddle away (ha).

Well, Lane just woke up from her nap, so I better go spend some time with her.

Take care!

Dinner was a chicken 'chop suey' - chicken in soy sauce with veggies on rice. It was tasty, but not what I was wanting it to be. I got it done and then James worked longer than I expected, and it over cooked. The veggies were mushy and the chicken got a bit dry. They loved it though. I need to practice with cooking brown rice in the pressure cooker too...it turned out really good, but I had too much water in it and it got a bit sticky.

I have to leave here at 7 to be at the doctor's office before 8 with James for his pre-op. Then on to the hospital for their pre-op at 8:30. The doctor's office is in the complex with the hospital, thankfully! I need to remember to carry some cash for parking. I wish I had planned better, and gotten some things I could carry to eat. I think I will be there from 8am until 2 or 3pm by myself. I don't even have a book to read! :( I wish I had a laptop with a wireless modem! I could surf and play online while he was in surgery. Maybe I will try to carry my crochet stuff and see if I can do anything with it. I should also carry some drawing materials.

I will check in later tomorrow once we are home. I hope WIW is a good one for everyone!

Morning all!

Another gorgeous day here. A cold front went through last night so the humidity has dropped (note "cold front" here means it might hit only 80 degrees today). I'll have to find some stuff to do outside!

Monet--Prayers for James today! I hope you don't get too bored waiting. Let us know when he is home.

Nat--You are so right--now is the time to make good on those winter promises to ourselves. NO MORE EXCUSES!

Country--enjoy that bath!

Keng--those daylillies will be gorgeous!

Jackie--Yeah I was panic stricken at the thought of 100 young people. Now that it's only 20 or so. . . still sounds like a huge crowd to me. I'm glad you have help!

Oops--got to go. I'll try to get back to finish relies later.

Just a quick stop. Today's my anniversary!! Yay!! And my DH is home on vacation this week and I don't get on the computer much when he's here. I have better things to do. ;) But, I'm up a couple pounds after last weekend's birthday party...chips...cake...ice cream...the usual. So, anyhow...I'm back on track as of yesterday. And I'm staying there. My pants are still loose and that's what matters, anyway. I got a new George Foreman grill...one that's bigger than a potholder!! It's really great with the plates that come out and its much bigger. I just made bacon without having to cut them in half!! Any good recipes would be great...although the grill came with a huge recipe book I've been booring through.

Okay...have to get ready to go to Home Depot!!

Bye, guys...will stop in when I have a chance.

Happy WIW!

Hope the scale is good to everyone today. I was down 2 lbs since Monday's weigh-in and I don't remember what last Tuesday was. I need to change my ticker. I was trying to wt and hoping to get back to that number, but it is not happening as quickly as I would like.

Julia, thanks for the info on the rice. I think I will try it with the basmati rice. Don't wear yourself out with all that planting.

Monet, you were already a cooking fool now with the pressure cooker you will be cooking up everything in site. Hope James' surgey goes ok today.

Nat, any day the sun is shinning is a beautiful day. The perspective of kids is so amazing. Hope Britt got something nice for herself at the store. I agree with your point on the winter/summer. We all need to get on the ball and take advantage of the summer foods and the weather to get out an exercise. Next Monday, I am hitting it hard on both accounts and so is everyone in my house (whether they know/like it or not).

Country, hang in there. We can do this with each other's help.

Susan, I know you can find something outdoors to do with that beautiful yard of yours. Enjoy your nice day.

Tech, Happy Anniversary. How many years? Enjoy your day and week with DH. We will catch up next week.

Toni:

have a great day. I'll check back later.

The board seems to be slowing down again; what's up with that? Where are all you missing SB's?

WIW: I was at 123# today, and can't quite figure out why. I went to the gym on Mon, and I will be going today as well. I will post at the end of the week on the exercise board. I ate pretty well yesterday too. We will see how it looks next week. I am on target to get 4 days exercise in this week.

So far:
BF: oatmeal w/ agave syrup, flax meal, blanched almonds, cinnamon and a glass of skim milk. I usually eat some form of fruit with my oatmeal, but I have so much fruit in the house now that I'd rather snack on it during the day, but still not eat too much.

Lunch: Will be a turkey sandwich on WG bread.

Dinner: Will be a few slices of pizza (Britt has a birthday party to go to after school, and pizza is the dinner).

Snack: Not sure yet, but will probably be Triscuits w/ Laughing Cow Lite cheese, fruit (cherries, strawberries or grapes), Trader Joes granola bar.....we'll see.

I will also drink lots & lots of water!

Monet: I'm thinking of you and James today. We will be waiting to hear how he does with the surgery. Good luck not eating too much of that vending machine food.

Country: Losing a post is the pits! I hope you enjoyed your bath.

Fillise: That's funny....a cold front here means low 100's this time of year!

Tech: Happy Anniversary....enjoy!!! Glad y ou enjoyed the birthday party and are back on track now. If you stay there, those pants will stay a little loose. I would love to have a George Foreman grill with removable parts! Why didn't he think of that before? I already have two. I have the great big giant one, and a mid-size one. I love them, but the clean-up can be a pain sometimes. I think Monet mentioned placing a wet paper towel in it when done, and it makes clean-up easier. I have tried that and it really does help. Can't your DH think of somewhere more romantic that Home Depot to take you today?

Jack: Anytime the sun isn't shining is a beautiful day here  . I guess they don't call it the Valley of the Sun for nothin'. I think getting the entire family involved in diet/exercise regimen is a great motivator!!

Well, Lane is calling me........"Mommy, I neeeeeeeeeeeeeeed you."

Gotta run!

Have a great OP day!

Hello all--just wanted to report that I was down one pound at weigh-in. I was afraid I wasn't going to be down at all. I ate some food with a high sodium content Monday and Tuesday and all of a sudden my weight bounced up three lbs, so I was very happy that my body is starting to release it. I've been pushing the water and green tea--that always helps! This make 15 lbs total since I started the combo WW/SB.

Just a fly by! James' surgery went well. The doctor told me he is one tough guy, because the hernia was really really bad! James said after we got home that he actually feels better now then he did before! After we left the hospital, we went straight to Publix to get his prescription filled, then he wanted to go to Brusters for ice cream. Guess who ended up paying? I did very well all day...I had three eggs for breakfast, a protein bar, some salad and a cup of cream of broccoli soup and a diet coke with splenda. Then I went and blew all my good work getting ice cream at Brusters.

I don't know what I am fixing for dinner yet, since we just got in. Tom is at a conference today, and won't be home until late. I still have time to figure something out! :)

Thanks for all your well wishes and prayers for James. I appreciate it!

Howdy all.... Doing some house work. Yuck..... A never ending job huh... Made turkey cutlets last night with a zucchini casserole that I couldn't believe DH ate. I acted like I didn't notice he was going back for more. Also had a nice salad with homemade thousand Island dressing. Think tonight I'll cook salmon marinaded in Italian Dressing.

Monet- so glad all went well with James' surgery. Hope he has a speedy recovery.

Sebray-Congradulations on seeing that ticker move. Its good to see you posting. I'm so sorry you're depressed.

Morning all!

Miss Belle and I were at our desk at 9 this morning. So far she has gotten a good nap in, but I haven't accomplished much of anything.

Toni--what time is dinner? That salmon sounds good!:D

Sebray--5 lbs--WOOO HOO! Congrats!

Country--Everyone in Alabama was rooting for BO. I didn't watch AI, so I have no idea who was the better singer.

Toni--WTG on your loss too!!!! 4 lbs is great!

Where IS everyone today? The board has been soooo slow this week. I know Gator is in France, but where is everyone else?

I have to go to a fish fry tonight where there will be almost nothing I should eat. I may try to eat early and not there. Or I may try to save enough points today that I can nibble on a piece of fish and salad. It would actually be easier if it were chicken because then I could remove the skin. Maybe they will have some baked fish. . .

Have a great OP day everyone!

Good afternoon ladies.

I am sleepy today. Don't know why. Tonight is grocery night for the party. I'm dreading that bill. Spent $300 on liquor last night & $164.00 at Sam's (Like Costco). This is becomng an expensive party.

I'm only working half a day tomorrow so I can get my windows washed and my basement cleaned. I'm hoping everyone stays outside other than getting food. The weather is supposed to be sunny and 75.

Toni, 4 lbs is great. What a great motivator too. Keep up the good work.

Nat, I'm sure the rise in the scale is hormonal or something like that. Maybe muscle?

Susan, you are doing great on the SB/WW combo. 15 pounds is something to brag about. Good luck finding something to eat tonight. You are smart to plan ahead like that.

Monet, Didn't they have SF ice cream at Brusters? Glad things went well for James. How long will he have to be off?

Country, I'm glad Carrie won too. Bo was good but I liked Carrie better. I can't beleive you voted so much. My DD got in about 5 text messages, but you can never get through on the phone lines.

Sebray, Wow: 5 lbs is great :cheer: Sorry you are down. Maybe coming here will help. Hurry back.

Got to run. Hope to check in tomorrow, but if not have a great holiday weekend and I will talk to you on Tuesday.

Hello there (I think I can hear my echo......). It's Thursday and we only have 3 pages of posts. What's up with that?

After taking Britt to school this morning, Lane and I went to Sunflower Market (like Henry's or Sprouts). They had some incredible buys (Cantaloupe 2 whole ones for $1, 2 dozen eggs for $1, Nectarines .88/lb, 1 lb peeled mini carrots .77, bell peppers 3 for $1, Cameo apples 2 lbs for $1, Valencia oranges 2 lbs for $1. etc....). I spent $137 and got a lot for the money. I bought some pre-made shish-K-bobs for dinner tonight.

I was at 121.5# this morning, so I must've been retaining water or something yesterday. I got my fair share of exercise in yesterday. I got my weight workout in at the gym, and then did the treadmill for 50 minutes (hi-lo impact...running/walking combo). I then went to a birthday party with Britt at one of those indoor bouncy places with the inflatables. I jumped and ran around on those most of the night and had a ball. It was great exercise. I did have two slices of pizza, but passed on the cake.

We will be leaving here in a little while. Britt has a pizza party in class today, and we will get there a little early to be with her for the end of the party. They still have to go to school for 4 hours tomorrow; I guess to just get everything together from the year and shipped home.

Toni: Congrats on the loss; that is fantastic!! Keep up the great work. Don't you feel awesome?

Fillise: Congrats on the 1#. You should eat an apple and drink some water on the way to the fish fry. That will fill you up some, and keep you from eating too much of the wrong foods. Remember how well you've done; you don't want to blow it on fattening, artery clogging fried junk food. Did I convince you, yet? ;) .

Monet: Glad James' did well with the surgery. How long had he had the hernia? Better to get the ice cream on a good eating day then to top off a bad eating day with it ;) .

Country: 600 times?????? Holy crap, how did you manage that? How many hours in the day do they give you to vote? I don't watch American Idol, but I heard that Carrie is a country girl, and we can always use another good voice in Country Music.

Sebray: Congrats on the loss. I hope you are feeling better soon and back to posting. We miss your posts.

Jack: That stuff sure adds up quick, especially that liquor. I am always amazed how low our dinner tab is if we don't order drinks. Have fun!!

Well, I have to go clean up some dishes and and put away some laundry.

Have a great OP day.

IT'S ALMOST FRIDAY.....AND A LONG MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND FOR MANY! LET'S NOT FORGET WHAT MONDAY IS ALL ABOUT!

I'll try to check in tomorrow.

Take care,

Hello, all. Not much to report except that I was really bad yesterday. Went out of town and had Pizza Hut for lunch and KFC for supper. Really bad. Not for sure what my weight is, if I had to guess I would say VERY close to 170, that's about 10 pounds from my ticker weight that I saw just 3 weeks ago. I'll weigh myself tomorrow and "face" the metal monster with all it's reality. Today is better, thank goodness. Lunch was really tasty. I took a leftover KFC hot n' spicy chicken breast(minus the skin) and shredded it up in a big salad made with veggies, 1 egg, and cheese topped with Ranch. Had vanilla sf yogurt for my "dessert." I know it was probably too much calories, but I need it to sustain me until tonight. I didn't workout at all yesterday. I did the 2 mile WATP this AM and I have aerobics tonight. I'm cooking Mexican meatloaf(luv it), fried squash(in olive oil and onions), and green beans and yellow rice(yuk) for the rest of the family. I'm off to check out this new website, I'll post the link if it's any good....

Hey everyone! I just got in from the Old Tyme Pottery. Its one of those cheap housewares places...with lots of glass and stuff cheap. I got two cocoa mats for the back doors, a wastepaper basket for under my desk, (Tom stole mine!) two beach towels- cheap!, and four 59 cent plastic bowls to use for parties out by the pool. They had two cup glass pyrex measuring cups with raised numbers instead of painted ones...so I got one. My two cup measure is painted and you can hardly read it any more. I spent $25 for all of that, which I thought was not too bad!

I wish I had thought to put on my pedometer before we left. We walked up and down every aisle. and looked at everything that they had. I am sure it was a lot of steps! I know where to go to get glasses and glass plates now. :)

On the way home, we stopped at Harry's/Whole Foods and got some moldy cheese. (the fond nickname for blue cheeses here at my house) My neighbor told me they are building a new Whole Foods right up the street from me. Yeah! Not that Harry's is so far, but I am going to love having one even closer. Its a shame their prices are not as good as other farmer's markets, but they do carry some stuff you can't find elsewhere, and have the best price on organic milk products.

I need to go get some late afternoon chores done, so I will be back later!

EVENING EVERY ONE OF YOU BUSTIN BUDDYS!!!!

FIRST.....LET ME SHARE THIS....I KNOW IT'S NOT FRIDAY FUNNIES, BUT I CAN'T RESIST!

Redneck Vasectomy

After having their 11th child, a North Georgia Mountain couple decided
that 11 was enough, as they could not afford a larger bed.

So the husband went to his veterinarian and told him that he and his
cousin didn't want to have any more children

The doctor told him that there was a procedure called a vasectomy that
could fix the problem but that it was expensive. A less costly
alternative, said the doctor, was to go home, get a cherry bomb
(fireworks are legal in the North Georgia Mountains), light it, put it
in an empty beer can, then hold the can up to his ear and count to 10.

The redneck said to the doctor, "I may not be the smartest man in the
world, but I don't see how putting a cherry bomb in a beer can next to
my ear is going to help me."

"Trust me," said the doctor.

So the man went home, lit a cherry bomb and put it in a beer can. He
held the can up to his ear and began to count:

1

2

3

4

5

At which point he paused, placed the beer can between his legs, and
resumed counting on his other hand.

This procedure also works in Kentucky, Tennessee, Mississippi, Arkansas,
West Virginia and most places in Texas

Okay....I've doing good so far and I've made it two days...8hrs...at work!!!!
I've managed to gather over 8 hrs of PTO also...of course, we're closed on Monday and I'll have to use 8hrs for that, but at least it's a start!

I haven't read anything, so I really don't have any replies...BUT....HELLO EVERYONE

I'll try to catch up this weekend.

I did get THE AVIATOR and ARE WE THERE YET.....to watch...good thing because tonight is all reruns on every show I watch....THANK GAWD FOR BLOCKBUSTER VIDEO!!!

Dinner tonight was bbq chicken made in the pressure cooker. Yum! The recipe needs tweaking, but it was awfully good! We also had the collards I cooked in it last night, and rice I cooked in it the night before! :lol3: I had a very large glass of iced tea, sweetened with agave and powdered fructose. It was NOT made in the pressure cooker!

Tom is working on plumbing. I was going to watch Pride and Prejudice with Laura's friend who is living with us, but she remembered it was Trivia night and ran out. I may try and find a good book and lay around and read.

James is doing well, but a lot sorer than yesterday. He is keeping up with his pain meds after taking one an hour late and really feeling it. He showed me his incision today, after he took off the gauze as directed. Its a lot larger than they had expected, probably due to the severity of the hernia. He still thinks it feels better than before it was repaired, which is good! And he is loving the percosets...

BOB: I will pass on to Laura your praise of Blockbuster...she will appreciate it. She is hoping to start training as an assistant store manager soon.... :) Thanks for the PC advice...I am having a lot of fun experimenting.

HEART: Are you finding the journaling helpful at all? You will have those extra pounds off in no time! I can relate though...I gained twenty when my thyroid went wacky a year ago, and then ten more after my surgery and I just can't seem to make any headway in getting them, and the other 50 or 60 I need to lose off....its so discouraging!

PANCHO: He had an inguinal hernia that is heriditary. Tom had one that was repaired about 20 years ago. It started to really bother James when he started at his present job two years ago, due to a lot of lifting. He tests computer stuff for a company that resells systems, and has to lift CPUs, monitors, and larger stuff all the time.

COUNTRY: I am with Pancho...how in the world did you manage to get so many votes in? Poor Bo might have won but for you!

TONI:  That is AWESOME that you lost four pounds! You keep that up!

JACK: Of COURSE they had SF ice cream...but the flavors were so dull! Vanilla, fudge ripple, or strawberry! I got fudge brownie and white turtle...I am SO bad! :(

FILLISE: I hope you did well at the fish fry! Couldn't you just pull the breading off the fish and blot it well?

SEBRAY:  Way to go on the five! I find getting on here when I am down helps. Just vent at us and we can tell you jokes to cheer you! :)

Ok, I am off to find a book to read! I will check in with you all later!

I must be losing my mind.... I picked up my little strip of compartments that I keep my daily pills in to take todays...but they were gone! I can't remember if I took them earlier this morning, or twice yesterday! :o I don't know what to do, so I guess I will just wait it out and hope I don't get too high BP or something... Boy do I feel like an idiot!

I slept ok, even without a glass of wine last night! :) (maybe it was the double dose of BP or thyroid meds???)

I need to go rustle up some grub for breakfast. Today is Friday Funnies... anyone got any to share?

Happy Friday!

This is a quickie. Only working half a day so I need to get some stuff done other than party stuff ;)

Hope everyone has a great long weekend. After cleanup Monday, I plan to take it easy.

Nat, I love to get shish-kabobs at the store. I think they are expensive, but I really enjoy them now and then. Hope Britt has a good last day of school. It went so fast.

Heart, getting back on track after a blow-out is the important thing. Just don't let it be your license to keep it up.

Bob, glad to hear you have made it 2 days. Hope it continues. Cute joke.

Monet, had to laugh about your choice of ice cream. Can't say that I blame you, except I love plain ole vanilla. I do that with my pills. I can't remember if I took that that day or not. Getting old I guess.

Have a great day and great weekend. Talk to you Tuesday.

Here is something for Friday funnies...

Can you cry under water?

How important does a person have to be before they are considered
assassinated instead of just murdered?

If money doesn't grow on trees then why do banks have branches?

Since bread is square, why is sandwich meat round?

Why do you have to "put your two cents in"...but it's only a "penny"
for your thoughts"? Where's that extra penny going to?

Once you're in heaven, do you get stuck wearing the clothes you were
buried in for eternity?

Why does a round pizza come in a square box?

What did cured ham actually have?

How is it that we put man on the moon before we figured out it would
be a good idea to put wheels on luggage?

Why is it that people say they "slept like a baby" when babies wake up
like every two hours?

If a deaf person has to go to court, is it still called a hearing?

If you drink Pepsi at work in the Coke factory, will they fire you?

Why are you IN a movie, but you are ON TV?

Why do people pay to go up tall buildings and then put money in
binoculars to look at things on the ground?

How come we choose from just two people for President and fifty for
Miss America?

Why do doctors leave the room while you change? They're going to see
you naked anyway.

If a 911 operator has a heart attack, whom does he/she call?

and finally...

Why is "bra" singular and "panties" plural?

Wow guess everyone is getting ready for a big three day week end. We plan to barbeque allot. Just got an order in from Omaha Steaks so our freezer is full of all different things. It helps us so much because we live in such a rural area that its hard to get the things we like. Can't believe I'm still OP! Woopie. Last night we grilled salmon, had zucchini casserole, and coleslaw. I had a little to much wine to go with it! Still need to figure out whats for dinner tonight.

Monet- I know just what you mean on the pills. I take allot of medicine and some times I come up missing and wonder what I did. Glad James is recuperateing. Hope he's better soon.

Jack-K- Good luck on the party!!!!

Hey Pancho, Fillise and Heartmom....

Now I need to go buy groceries... Happy day everyone.....

HAPPY FRIDAY EVERYONE!!!

I was at 123# again today; not sure why I am yo-yoing so much; I usually don't do that. I must just eat more when I workout more, because I know it can't be muscle gain so soon. I did get to the gym M, W & F. I plan to go on Saturday and early Monday since DH is off work on Monday. I actually hurt my leg working out today; I hope it doesn't get any worse. I was doing side lunges, and I heard something pop (between my groin and out thigh...it's not the hamstring; it's more toward the front). I was still able to do the treadmill after that, and it doesn't hurt much unless I overextend that leg. I am doing an upper body workout tomorrow, so shouldn't matter if it still hurts a little bit.

I found the best little snack at Sunflower Markets. I bought them for the kids, but I love them. They are called Nana's cookie bars. Some are gluten free, and some are whole wheat, and they have a lot of different flavors. We got Chocolate Chippers, a chocolate fudgy one, and Nana Banana. They are delicious! All of the flavors that we got are all 6 grams sugar per bar, which isn't bad at all. They are organic and use all natural ingredients. I will definately keep them around. They will be great to take on our trip with us this summer. Some are made with no wheat, gluten, egg, dairy, etc...and are FANTASTIC for Britt since she is allergic to most of that.

Jack mentioned the Annie's cheddar bunnies. My kids love those. They also have a BBQ flavored one, and I get the whole wheat ones. My kids actually like the whole wheat ones better than the cheddar. They are great for snacking too.

Heart: It's hard to eat right when traveling. It sounds as if you are back on track. Now, just try to keep it up over the long weekend ;) .

Monet: It sounds like a great bargain at Old Tyme Pottery. I love a good bargain! We are supposed to be getting a few more Whole Foods in town over the next 2-3 yrs. There will be one a little closer to me (the current one I go to takes me 45 mins. to get to). It is, by far, my favorite of all the organic/farmer type markets. I am glad that James is starting to improve. He'll just need to take it easy for awhile and he will be back to his old self again.....just a better feeling self. I'm glad he was able to get that taken care of. Didn't you have a hernia repair as well?

BOB: Thanks for the Thursday funny! Glad you are feeling a bit better and have been able to stay at work.

Jack: Have fun with the party and try not to work yourself too hard....DELEGATE!! Enjoy yourself!

Well, we have got to go soon. I have to stop by UPS this morning, and then to a little HFS that is going out of business to get a few more things, and then to Britt's school (it is early dismissal). I will then take Britt and Lane to the mall for a few hours, and out to lunch.

Have a great OP day and try to be as good as you can over this long Holdiay weekend.

Take care,
Nat

I hope this isn't a repeat.. :)

An expectant father did not want his coworkers to know that he had a girlfriend, much less that she was pregnant with his son. Though he accompanied her to the hospital, he had to report to work while she was still in labor. As he left he asked the labor and delivery nurse to call his office and let him know by using a secret code.

"When my son comes, do not call up the office and say that I have become a father of a boy, otherwise everyone will know. Just tell the receptionist that the clock has arrived and I will know that my son has been born."

The child arrived, but it was a girl. The labor and delivery nurse thought, "If I tell his office that the clock did not arrive, he'll think that something has happened to the baby and he'll be terribly upset and worried."

So she sent the message: "The clock has arrived, but the pendulum is missing."

Stormy helped me get all the phone calls in the other night. I called at first and only got through a few times. About the third hour it was a lot easier to get in. We just dialed....hung up and dialed again....over and over and over...LOL One lady voted for someone over 1000 times using the internet but I missed the news report to find out how she did it.

Wishing each of you a super fantastic weekend.

Hey ya'll! School's out! School's out! Teacher let the monkeys out!
:cb: :dancer: :cheer: :twirly: :hyper:
I'm so glad!!!

I went to the awards program at my daughter's school and it was bittersweet! She "graduated" from the fifth grade and is off to middle school next year! :^: She got several awards. One for Language arts (grammer and comp for us old stogies), one for having all A's this year and one that is called the presidents award for educational excellence complete with a letter, lapel pin and certificate signed by Dubya! Wow I was impressed! She has been a straight A student since she started school, never had a B on her report card. My son got an award for language arts at his ceremony too. He will be in the eighth next year then off to high school. I don't think I can handle it!

We are going to Tybee Island on June 5 for a few days and I hope all the walking on the beach will kick me back into a good exercise routine! :beach:

Hope to be Online more this summer while I have more time! We will go back to school on August 1, so I will have to squeeze out every ounce of fun I can find! Have a great holiday weekend everyone! :sunny:

Good Morning! Tom is out loading his truck with the old wood from the deck, alone. The young guy who was going to help called this morning to say his baby son was sick and he had to stay home and help his wife. I can't think of anyone else to call, and he doesn't want to ask anyone at the last minute. Its a big job, and I hate he has to do it alone.

I just cooked a pound of garbanzo beans in my pressure cooker. I can't wait to see how they turned out. I am waiting for it to cool down enough to open. :)

Breakfast was three scrambled eggs with some cheese, and water. I also had a cup of espresso with cream and a bit of fructose.

I am planning on using the garbanzos to make hummus. I really need to get some stuff done around here, but I am such a flake! I am still in my nightgown, and not feeling very motivated. :(

We don't have any big plans for the weekend. The youth group from church is having a party in our pool on Monday. I will probably interact some with them, but not much. I never swim when we have company...only family and close friends can see me in my bathing suit, as its a scary sight!

I hope everyone is having a good weekend! I will check in later!

Hello all!

I'm sorry I didn't get on the board yesterday--the day just slipped by me. I did very well with my eating and the scale still seems to be moving in the right direction.

I'm not doing much for the holiday weekend. I had been invited to a friends lakehouse, but then her son and his family decided to come for a visit so the weekend at the lake has been postponed.

I will go to Montgomery on Monday for a little work and a little cookout. I will take all my own food.

That said, I have wash in the machine I have to get out on the line and I'm thinking about doing a little planing today. . .

Have a great OP day everyone!

Susan

ps--Jackie--hope your party goes well this weekend!

I overcooked the garbanzos! How amazing is that? Instead of 12 minutes, I got distracted and let them cook 15, and they were overdone! I LOVE this pressure cooker! :)

Next on the list to cook are black beans. I have them soaking already, and will put them in the pot in another hour or so.

Tom got all the wood moved, and is feeling good about that. He is now working on the plumbing. I may take a nap, because I am really sleepy. I hate when I feel this way!

Later!

I got the black bean soup in the pressure cooker...it smells divine. I just started throwing stuff in, so if it turns out good, I will never be able to duplicate it!

Tom and I ran over to Costco and got two chaise lounges for by the pool. I am SO excited! We have only been talking about doing that for three years. They are very nice ones, and will be a great addition to the pool deck. Now if I can just talk him into a table, with an umbrella and some chairs, the back yard will be lovely for parties. :)

We stopped at Harry's/Whole Foods and I got some veggies and milk. Its right next door to Costco. My son in law is here now, to pick up some rocks he left in our yard. He is using the rocks to define flower and vegetable beds at their house, but had two more piles he had accumulated before they moved that he had not gotten yet. It will be nice to have them out of the way!

BOB: The recipe book tells you to let the pressure go down naturally when you cook beans. I use the cold water release when I don't want to overcook something, like veggies. Do you always use the cold water method?

Good evening. This has been a very do nothing day. Except this afternoon DH and I went to Wal Mart to pick up a few things. And now we're home each playing on our computers. Guess we'll just snack around for dinner. Tomorrow we'll barbeque some little tenderloin steaks I have thawed out and have scallops with them. I've got a new cauliflower dish I want to try out too.

Monet- You got me so inspired about the pressure cooker I ordered me a cookbook from Amazon. I hope its a good one. I have a real old PC so have no book or anything. I usually just cook my roasts in it.

Howdy Fillise, Bob and everyone....

The black bean soup turned out really good. I have a beef roast in the pressure cooker now. I am going to make Mexican meat mix, so I can use it for tacos and stuff. I got low carb, whole wheat tortillas at the store, and all the fixings. :) I also got a pork roast to try in the pressure cooker, and pinto beans to cook in the pressure cooker...

I ate a very large bowl of black bean soup for dinner, and had hummus for lunch. Tonight, I went to the store and all those beans helped propel me through the store! :lol3:

BOB: Have you looked at the Miss Vicki Pressure Cooker site? It has a ton of recipes and info on it. I will just do the cold water release from now on. Tonight, I just turned off the roast and left it. I am going to bed in a bit, and it can sit there nice and sterile over night. :)

HEART: I am so sorry you lost your post. I hope just writing it helped?!

Hello everyone,

I haven't fall off the face of the earth, just lazy. I spent the last few days checking out nurseries for some ideas for my flower bed etc. It has been fun. I found some awesome deals on daylilies, gosh, I know I have fallen in love with them.

Yesterday was a bad day of eating and I already knew I would fall off the wagon completely...lol. It was so worth it. Dh and I took my nextdoor neighbors to our fav southern restaurant which is about 1 hr drive away. The restaurant is very famous for its authentic southern food....oh my, so worth going there to break my plan...lol. Yesterday was seafood/southern food buffet which consists of their cook-to-death collard greens and broad green beans (forgot what they are called), steamed mixed veggies, black eye peas, fried chicken, fried scallop (oh yum! they were so sweet and fresh), fried shrimps, fried whole catfish, fried oysters, fried green tomatoes (yum!), stuffed crabshell with crabmeat etc, baked potato skin with bacon, shredded BBQ pork, BBQ ribs, sweet potatoes souffle (awesome!), corn on the cob, delicious macaroni and cheese, beef roast, baked beans, 2 different kinds of soups, steamed snow crab legs (which everyone loves), a salad bar full of different kind of salad and various delicious dessert like...chocolate cake, lemon creme pie, key lime pie, apple pie, peach cobbler, pecan pie etc etc.

The 5 of us didn't behave ourselves and were too stuffed by the time we left...LOL. I had 1 fried chicken wing, few fried scallops. fried shrimps, fried oysters, both greens (love it!), macaroni and cheese, sweet potato souffle, half piece of baked potato skin, 3 pieces of fried green tomatoes, a small scope of baked beans and 2 small taste of chocolate cake which was too rich for me. If I am not pregnant, I am sure I will do much worst since I will have more stomach space...lol. I could not eat any dessert except tried my dd's chocolate cake. Boyy....the food was great. I am just so glad the restaurant is 1 hour away so we can't get there as much as we like...lol. My neighbors had a great time as well so we had a great day.

Today, we didn't go to church as Jess was still sneezing and her nose is still very runny. I am really not too sure if it is a cold or allergies. She is doing well though. Dh is working today since he took yesterday off but will be off again on Monday. I am planning to do some cleaning around the house today and take it easy after that. Tomorrow will be a "planting" day as dh is off. He will tilt the ground for me to put my plants and flowers in. We might have a little BBQ but not sure if there would be guests. We will grill some filet mignon that we bought from Costco (first time), baked beans, low carb potatoes, coleslaw and watermelon as dessert. Yep, not a legal menu for could be worst :) I just have to watch my portion.

I won't be doing any personal replies since I am so way behind but I have read all the posts. "Hi" to everyone of you and hope you all have a fun-filled Memorial Day :)

Monet, the restaurant's name is Blue Willow Inn located in Social Circle, Newton County (I-20 East). Here's the link to their website :

http://bluewillowinn.com/

Have you been there or heard of it? I love their food and also the whole "southern" experience of eating there. I think you will need to have a heavy southern accent in order to work there...lol. It took me a while to figure out what the waitresses were talking about...lol. I love them though, always warmth and friendly.

Julia
