:coffee: is badly needed this morning. I hate it when you go to bed early and still wake up tired! It's been a busy weekend with absolutely crappy weather! Sorry to whine but I really need to get into the garden.

The Hyper Pypers showed up yesterday with chipwagon chips and a lemon pie for lunch! I guess it could not have been worse unless we drank a lot of beer too! :( I am not going near the scale this morning. They brought along Baily who is Lucy's sister. My kitchen floor is a complete disaster from 12 muddy paws! Anyhow, it's not all bad. They are coming back for a work day soon which will be just great.

I need to hustle my buns this morning as Gail comes and I've not yet finished my tidying. I should also run a mop over the worst of the kitchen floor so she doesn't take one look and leave!

What's happening for you today? :cofdate:

Good morning, Ruth and everyone else!

I'm right there with ya on the coffee needed this morning, and I don't really drink it. Actually, I'm trying something new right now. I"m drinking V8 for the first time. It's ummm interesting.

Well, I can tell it is Monday. I just went on the front porch and it is raining. I was absolutely mortified to find that I not only left my American flag out after sunset, but in the RAIN! :nono: I'm sure my father is doing back flips in his grave. I immediately took it down. I have never disrespected the flag before and I feel like I have violated someone <hanging head>.... I'm trying to remind myself that mistakes happen.... but as a veteran, I'm mortified.

It's getting late, so I need to get my behind in the shower and get ready for work. Still have to get the kids up for school. Wednesday is their last day. Adam has to play at graduation this Friday, but then we are done until band camp in August. Woohoo!

Okay, I'm not sure how I'm feeling about this whole V8 juice thing. It's interesting. And I suppose it will help me towards my veggie count, but I'm not sure it's something I'm actually going to look forward to drinking, ya know? :lol3:

I hope you all have blessed, productive, happy days! I'll check in with ya later if I can!

Hugs!

Mornin Chicks! Had to get up extra early to wrap up DS arm so he could take a shower and then I had to wash his hair in the sink.

Ruth...You better take it easy Missy! You are over working yourself. You are probably workin in your sleep and that is why you are waking up tired. I hate that!

Marine... Don't beat yourself up to bad. Mistakes do happen and like you said you have not done it before. All is forgiven. Congrats to Adam!

Well I need to get some tiding done around here today. Not much else happenin. Check y'all chicks later! Have a great day all!

Aileen, congratulations to Adam!! :cheer: You must be so proud of him. :)
I'm with you re: the V-8. I'm actually used to it now, and it only takes me an hour and a half to down one small can. :lol3:

Bamie, I'm so sorry about DS's arm!! :( What a household you've got!!
I hope the knee isn't too bad today, hon. :grouphug:

Going to get coffee... back in a bit... :coffee:

Happy Monday all.

Lost a few more as I was down to 198.0 this weekend! But I may have messed that up yesterday.

That's ok...this week it's back to my mock SB until loverly Friday which is payday. We're not going to NC anymore for the 5 days so I am starting SB on Saturday instead of the 1st. I figure, why postpone it???

We'll go to the beach once, about a 2 hour drive away, for the day. I am dreading pulling on a bathing suit!

RUTH -- I am in the same boat, minus the paws. We'll be dilligent this week ;)

AILEEN -- throw a shot of hot sauce and some ground pepper in the v-8, if you likle hot sauce. Flavors it right up!

BAMIE -- Have a great day!

As for me, I need to get in the shower and get to work. Happy Monday (rain and all)

Good morning chickies!

Ruth - I'm the same way you are - I can't have anyone come over without scurrying around tidying up first. Yesterday we were moving my DBF's sister out of our house and back to her parents house and I even picked up before the guys came over to move furniture... even though I knew they were going to be tracking stuff through the house coming in and out.

MarineTubaMom - I don't mind the taste of V8 all that much, but I've found that it's best if it's ice cold and you drink it quickly. I don't know if there's anything much worse than room temp V8. Ick.

Bamie - Have a great day!

ellis - Hope you have a great day, too... I probably should have waited until you got some coffee... :)

jenne - I can't stand rainy Mondays... hope it clears up for you!

Laurie - in response to your post from Friday... Princess weighed in at 25lbs, so I was able to give her the Heartguard that I have. Her growth seems to be slacking off now, which is fine by me because she's already strong as a little bull!! And I've had chronic back problems for the past 4 years or so. Nothing specific really caused it (no injury/accident) just years of rough and tough wear, playing sports during my pre-teen/teen years and having too much weight pull on that spine.... I'll go through periods where it will really bother me, then times when I don't barely notice it at all.

Busy weekend this past weekend - went to the Country Fair concert and it was pretty good. Gary Allan is still one of my favorite country men right now. He's getting a little darker since the tragic death of his wife last year, but I guess that was to be expected.

Moved my DBF's sister out of our house yesterday. Nearly lost her dresser going down the road - had to end up having DBF sit in the bed of the truck with the thing and I had to drive the truck... it was a very interesting trip.

Scale went down again this morning. Looks like I'll probably meet my small goal of having a total weight loss of 30lbs by Memorial Day. As long as I can shave off one more pound between now and next Monday!

Have a wonderful day, all!!

Good Monday Morning....

I in a good mood since I'm losing :D and I'm going to see Star Wars... :corn: but I'm sad because I have a sick cat (see Pet Thread!) :(

I seem to be losing so slow, and I'm staying (mostly) on plan. BUT I'm not gaining, so I see that as good.

RUTH: I still had some muddy footprints in my kitchen for a week because it was still supposed to be rainy - so I left them! (Finally got them cleaned up though!)

AILEEN: I like the V8 - and I think it helps with... umm... regularity! I just down it with b'fast - but hot sauce sounds good too.

BAMIE: Oh I remember doing that when DD broke her arm! I missed something from being gone so long I see! Hope he's OK!

ELLIS: Morning!

JENN: You can do it! The Beach is a great motivator. My mom has a cabin at a lake, and you just stay in your suit all day and hang out on the beach... that's in about 2 months for me! I need to be down around 220 by then... WE CAN DO IT! Good luck on your SB restart, it's such a good feeling to do it.

CHELS: Good for YOU!!! Yea - It's amazing how good it makes us feel :)

I've been really busy with my daughter's Church Jubilee and all the other activites this weekend. Taking her out of school to see Star Wars (they don't do anything the last week of school!) Also, I thought she'd want to sleep in since she was out for 16 hours on Saturday - but no, she was up bright and early to check on our poor sick kitty...

Have a great day on the beach and GOOD MORNING to anyone who was posting at the same time I was ;)

Morning chicks!

Just a quickie for me this am. I have to get that paperwork done for the deadline. Stayed OP all weekend! Tried to make that old WW recipe with the chocolate but alas - it got soggy! I must have put too much water in to melt the chocolate pieces. Oh well back to the drawing board!

I drink V-8 every morning. One little can and unlike Ellis  I chug it in about 15 seconds, take a drink of water and chew some SF gum.

Good Monday Morning Chickies,

I had a great weekend: Did some cleaning, watched Star Wars, shopping

And I found a great new church! My DH and I have been looking for a new church ever since we moved from Pittsburgh back to WV and we found a great one. That seems to make everything feel so much better!

I tried sweet potato french fries yesterday and I have to say I am not a huge fan. I probably won't make them again. This is very cool, but I think I have lost my taste for starchy stuff. I would have much preferred to have some zucchini or any other veggie to that!

That is pretty cool so I guess I been beachitized!

I hope you all have a wonderful week!

I can relate to the floor thing. On Saturday I mopped my kitchen and I swear as soon as you do you become a spilling fool. Last night I was getting my SBD strawberry pie out of the fridge and I dropped my SBD Key Lime in the floor....Darn triscuit crumbs went everywhere. I got out the vacuum and it just threw everything all over me. I was so mad and my DH was cracking up. Then later, I was drinking water in the kitchen and my DH came in there and said something that just cracked me up and I spit it all over the kitchen. He said "It's only water!" I said "Yeah, and snot!" Needless to say, I blew water out my nose as well. I think I tell you guys way to much!

Love ya and thank you all for being here!

Morning, chicks! As I suspected, I am up a pound today from yesterday but Monday is always my highest weight. I am down about 3 pounds from last Monday which means I should have a good weigh in day on Wednesday. I am dealing with a little sore throat today and lots of sinus drainage. I think it is just allergies. Although it could be partly from getting out and jogging Saturday night when it was 91 degrees and an orange ozone day. Yesterday it got to 98 but today it should be down to 97. I really wish the pools would open!

I fixed a wonderful chicken pot pie last night. I THINK it was totally OP for phase 2. It used a little phyllo to add a little crunch to the top. It had no bottom crust. It had one cup of WW shell pasta with lean chicken, carrots, peas, pearl onions. The sauce was chicken broth, milk, and one TBSP WW flour. It tasted wonderful. I served it with lots of broccoli which I mixed into mine. I imagine it is not the best dish to eat but it tasted wonderful and should be okay once a month.

Tonight is a Picnic in the Park at the school so I've fixed some WW rotini, fresh green beans, and red onion. I'll mix in tuna, spinach leaves, cherry tomatoes and kalamata olives in later and add some balsamic vinegrette. I've also got some leftover four bean salad to go with it. I'm not crazy about salad but I think this should taste good. Oh, maybe I could steam a little asparagus and add that? That would even make it better. :)

Take care all!

I am sitting at work today! I started my Phase I over today, to start fresh with the week beginning. For breakfast I had a piece of the lemon-bar pie I made last night from the Phase-I ideas. Very yummy. And I had some fat-free milk to drink. Now I am sipping water and heading to the gym after work with Angelshine. I need more willpower, really. I hope I can stick to it.
One problem I have is taking vitamins. The pills from One-A-Day are HUGE! Anyone have any tips on taking pills? Usually, I am not bad about it but these things are like horse tranquilizers, honestly!
Well, have a lovely morning, ladies! :D

Morning Ladies!!! Glad to see most of you had a good weekend. Mine was okay, not very eventful. Never did get the bathrooms cleaned. After Friday's fiasco (5 beany brownies) I went 3.5 miles around the lake at the park with the stroller, following the "very hilly trail" for one of those miles. Felt really good afterward, maybe atoned for the brownies. However, I'm assuming a grilled stuffed burrito, some nachos bell grande, and a chocolate shake are not quite OP? :sp: Well, it's my first real off plan cheat, and I'm back on track this morning with a good attitude! :) Just had a kid in my room.....gotta love 'em. The conversation went a little like this:

"okay, so I mocked a teacher. Why am I in trouble? why do I have to come to YOUR room"
"because it's your plan and the principal said you should'
"but why. she's not my principal. she's not in control of me. why do i have to go?
"I already answered that question"
"This is not fair, all you hate me! why do I have to come to YOUR room?"
"This is your plan we made with with your dad and reviewed when you were there. This is what the principal said."
"What is this, a punishment? All I did was mock the teacher"
"We will discuss this when the other principal gets out of her meeting, until then you stay with me"
"can I put my clothes in my locker"
No
"But why. I don't want to carry this around"
"I've already answered your questions. You will stay with me until we talk with the other principal"
"Can I go to math in 10 minutes"
"No"
"But why"
no response
"why, you don't have a reason?"
no response
"I'm not upset!...I'm not out of control....... Why can't I go to my locker....... I need to go to math class........You're taking away from my education....etc. etc. etc.
No response

I can laugh because I only have TWO--count 'em--TWO--more days of this!!!

Have a wonderful, OP, and problem free day!! :D

Ruth, even the best of us are sometimes waylaid by the darling Hyper Pypers of this world. I hope you enjoyed it...just do a bit of Phase 1 if you need to and jump back on the wagon. You know you can do it! :grouphug: I share your frustration...I spent most of the weekend either doing homework or playing computer games to avoid doing homework (at least I was sitting at the computer, right? ;) ) so I didn't get any gardening done either. I missed it. :( Let's hope the weather perks up soon and you can go get some dirt therapy! :D

Aileen, I actually grew to like the V-8, but when I visited the nutritionist, she told me that it really doesn't do much for you. You do get some nutrients, and the lycopene in the tomato juice is good, but you get much more if you eat the veggies than you do if you drink them. Sort of like what Dr. A said about drinking OJ vs eating an orange. She told me to stop drinking it and instead put some veggies in my cottage cheese. :) So, if you really don't like it, think about how you can get more actual veggies into your breakfast. I think Dr. A put the V-8/tomato juice in there for people who insist on juice in the morning. :dunno: Don't stress about the flag. We all know what's in your heart. :grouphug:

Speaking about overworking, Bamie... ;) Sounds like you and your knee had a hard morning! Are you trying to take it easy? :nono: I thought of you when I saw the bright tunnies in my yard this week. :D

Ellis, hope you have a nice day planned (i.e. no one is home! :s: ). Once, I tried putting metamucil (the powder) in my V-8. I brought it with me to work and when I opened the container, it was a gelatinous mass. It really became a brick of jell-o jigglers consistency. We all had a good laugh here at work, but that was pretty much the end of my using both V-8 and metamucil powdered. :p :lol3:

Jenn, good for you on the 198! :D And I like the way you think about not waiting. :bravo: I wish you tons of luck and have a blast at the beach...don't stress about that swimsuit. In the eyes of your girl, you'll look amazing, and that's all that counts! :D (that's what allowed me to wear a bikini at 240 on my honeymoon! :yikes:  )

Congratulations, Chelsea! :cp:

Good work on your weight, too, Sassy! :bravo: I hear you about little bulls...our Lady (what's with the royal dogs? :lol3: ) is a tough little girl...she can pull me down the block!

Christy, I haven't check the pet thread yet, but I hope your kitty heals quickly...it's so hard when your furkids are sick! :( Have fun seeing Star Wars with DD and stay away from that popcorn! ;)

Amy, why do you put water in to melt the chocolate? :?: I would think it would make it separate and get kind of soupy. I just heat it in the microwave for 30 secs at a time, stirring in between until it melts. Works great! :)

BB, enjoy the concert! Isn't it amazing how bad we feel when we don't eat enough veggies and too many carbs? I'm always shocked when I think about how I used to eat and feel and that it took me so long to do something about it! Hope the nor'easter blows over...I'm ready for spring too! :D

Sunnybunny... "and snot!" :lol3: I can SO relate. It's like the curse of the white shirt...you're destined to spill something on it as soon as you get to work. Good for you on the veggies! Try putting sweet potatos in a soup sometime...they have tons of great nutrients (yams actually have even more than sweet potatoes do)!

Barb, sounds like you're getting creative with the pasta salads! There's a couple (four, I think) in the new Cooking Light for June. They sound good...we're having one with Durum Semolina bowties this week. I had a tiny bit of phyllo yesterday too. I agree...once a month, as long as it's small, shouldn't hurt. The pot pie sounds delicious, but how can you eat hot food like that when it's in the 90's? You are amazing! :D Hope you feel better soon. No more exercising outside when it's a bad ozone day, okay? :nono:

Me:
Well, DH and I are going to get a grill and a patio table!!! I have no clue where the money is coming from for these (DH is our financial manager), but DH is a total "tightwad" usually, so we must be able to afford it. Or he's trying to spend my salary before I stop getting a pay check next month! We found a great table with four armchairs and two rocking chairs, a wrought-iron looking lazy susan, a rectangular umbrella and wrought-iron looking umbrella stand. We have more than enough room for it on the deck as long as we cut a couple of branches off the drippy evergreen (which may mean less cleanup for us, too!). We found a nice, medium-size grill (what's with these monsters that can cook 80 hamburgers at once??? :yikes: ) in stainless steel with a side burner that has a griddle attachment. I can't wait to start cooking on the grill...so many great recipes, so little time! :hyper:

I went down to 211.5 yesterday and up to 212 today. Still, it's much better than last week. At this rate, I just might make my monthly goal! :crossed: I'm starting to think that it really, really is my calorie intake. I'm just eating too much. So I'm going to start putting everything into Fitday, as annoying as that is. It just has to happen. I don't know if it'll happen this week with all my homework (finally got my assignments this morning! ), but in the meantime, I'll be cutting my portions down and resisting the urge to keep eating. I'm also going to try to eat veggies with less fat...i.e. steamed broccoli with lemon rather than broccoli with cheese sauce. ;)

Hope everyone has a great day on the beach! :D

Wow...I took a long time with my post...there are a bunch of you I missed! :o

FM, congrats on the pound!!! :D Don't feel like you have to drink the V-8. You'll get much more in terms of fiber and a full feeling from eating actual vegetables than from drinking them anyway. :)

Gryff, don't forget your veggies, okay? Maybe some broccoli/cauli/celery/tomatoes with dip after your pie (or before)? You do better, IMHO, to take several vitamins separately than to take a multivitamin. That way you get just what you need and none of what you don't. The FDA amounts of most vitamins can be very low for people, and most multivitamins just cover the FDA amount. Buying vits separately can be expensive (though warehouse stores like Costco and Sam's usually have them), but worthwhile in the end. Plus, they are less likely to look like horsepills. ;) Check with your doctor to see what you should take.

Mamaeli, you probably should do Phase 1 for a couple days after that cheat...it'll really make you feel better. :grouphug: After dealing with kids like that all day, I think I would have eaten more! :o I totally get you...that kid sounds like the one I had in my 4th grade class who had Turrett's and ADHD.

Soon, your day sounds dreamy! :cloud9: Have a blast!!! :D

Yes, well, I weighted 238 the day school started.....that's 24 lbs in 10 months. Only 14 (really 15.5 if you count this morning) to go to be where I was in August. Hopefully I'll be there well before August! One more reason I'm going into real estate--teaching is hazardous for my health!

Does drinking V8 in the morning count as a morning vegetable? I do need to add veggies in the morning, I have trouble with that. I am great with veggies throughout the day I need to buckle down and eat some in the mornings!

good morning (almost afternoon) everyone,

day one on the beach is going OK so far. my tummy is kind of rumbly, but i don't feel hungry. i ate my first cheese stick snack probably earlier than i should have -- around 9 a.m. after breakfast at 7:30 a.m.

so i broke down and had my 30 pistachio snack at 10:30 a.m.

are snacks unlimited? i was under the impression you should just eat when you get hungry.

i need to get lots of veggies in at lunch today.

one more question for you all. i'm doing the metamucil thing suggested in the book. does anyone else do that on a regular basis?

Hey guys...a quickie post from rainy Ohio!

I had a good time off (even though my daughter had surgery on Wednesday...) bu..I am going back to work today (argh!)

My DH,DM,DF and myself painted my entire deck, redwood furniture, put up new lattice work..etc etc...this weekend...soooo much done!!! I feel great about it..but, haven't had a chance to enjoy it yet because of the rain!!

I am having a good morning...I have a tooth issue and I am sticking to FF cottage cheese and V8 for nurishment...I get my protein, veggies etc..and don't bother my tooth I need to get fixed on Thursday. I have the Elite Event with my husband's company on Wednesday and I am babying the tooth until then...he can't take me to the event if I am missing a tooth, could he??? hahahah!!!

Well, Sammi is doing much better, I get to take the dressing off of her incisions today...I had to give her a little of her pain medication because of that...it will be painful..but, it has to be done, we are 5 days post-op. She is also complaining of her "body hurting" -- probably soreness from healing...she is only 2...doesn't know 'sore' yet...haha~

Okay, will check back later ladies...
-Sarah-

gryffgirl - You can count your V8 for your 1/2 cup of morning vegetables but as Laurie has suggested, it is actually better to eat vegetables if you could since the fiber is better for you.

skyesque - I do Metamucil with breakfast every day. I think I did it two or three times a day when I was in phase 1 but once a day is good enough for phase 2.

I am SO glad to see that I am not the only one who struggles with the V-8! but adding hot sauce? oh heck no! i don't do spicy/hot anything... bleh bleh yucky pooey bleh... and bleh.. :barf: :lol3:

My daddy used to drink it all the time.. little cans of it... i bought a big jug of it... i need more veggies in the morning, and i'm not really a breakfast person.. although i had a big breakfast today...

now keep in mind i was up at 1 a.m. making double fudge brownies for my co-workers to celebrate my son getting field captain (and nope, i have not touched them!).... so they were in the kitchen cutting brownies, and i had 2 microwave scrambled eggs with some ff shredded mozzarela cheese, about 4 grape tomatoes, 1/4 ff cottage cheese, and about 1 1/2 T of garlic hummus. I drank the V8 at home before I left for work...

for lunch i'm having a huge cucumber with garlic hummus, a can of tuna, some ff jello, some cottage cheese... and later today i have a low fat string cheese to munch on...

for dinner i'm having grilled italian chicken breast on a huge salad...

is that too much? or do you see where i can change anything? of course i'm drinking so much water i'm practically bouyant! :lol3:

back to work for me!

Wow y'all are a chatty bunch today! Finally! lol I have to say I love V-8! I can drink it everyday!
Laurie...I have tried it with my metamucil and it starts gettin thick right then I could not imagine waitin for a long time! Yuck! I bet it was funny! I don't recommend tryin it in your V-8 water is much better.

I'm off to make something...maybe the taco bake...DH was not thrilled with my big ol list of foods but he obviously got over it cause he bought it all! I am goin to make the pie as well only I'm usin strawberry j-ello instead of lemon. I best get to diggin in the kitchen! Keep up the chatter chickies!

Hey guys, with the Metamucil, can you take the tablets, or does it have to be the powder that you mix in water...cause I can NOT do that, :barf:

Wow chatting bunch today.

Ok - Who ever is having the problem with the pills - take them with some soda pop. In Michigan we call it pop - some people call it soda. Bami where are you? Anyhow - DM is a nurse and she says the carbination in the pop opens up the throat and the pills slide right down. Good luck!

Laurie - I always thought you were supposed to add a little water to help it melt? :?: I threw my cookies away. They were soggy. You are right - calories play a huge part in this. I've been cutting way back on my meals and I'm hoping for a good weigh in. I was holding water this weekend because all of a sudden I'm in the bathroom every 1/2 hour.

I take the Metamucil tabs. I take two before every meal. I actually by the Rite Aid brand of tabs. They work great and no crappy liquid to drink. I had to work up to the two. I started with one before dinner - then one before breakfast - then one before dinner and finally worked my way up to two before each meal.

Laurie - Just out of curiosity - where do you try to have your calories for the day? I just ran mine through fit day and I'm at approx 1500 for the day and I consider it to be a fairly OP day. Let me know cause I'm curious. Is there a guideline from SBD that says where we are supposed to try to be? I've read all the books (except the new release).

Anchor...A lot of peeps call them cold drinks or coke. A coke can be anything carbonated. lol If you want something different you better tell 'em.
What if you don't drink carbonated beverages then how are you supposed to get them down. I hate swallowin pills that is why I drink it which is not an easy task either! I would rather take a pill. I have heard that the powder is better for you and has more benefits...has anyone else?
