Unhappy Ultra low fat Whipped Topping

I have seen in many many recipes that this is allowed, so today I went to the supermarket and was going to buy one but saw that the 1st ingredient was Corn Syrup

I also wanted to know if there is any substitute for Corn Syrup as it is called on many many recipes from the Splenda Cookbook.

Thanks once again for all your help!

Oh and on a side note, anything with Low or Medium in the Glycemic Index is approved, right?

See the post on Cool Whip a few down from this one. There really is no substitute for corn syrup.

Wrong! Butter is low GI and certainly is not approved. You are best to follow the food lists posted here and ask questions about specific foods if you are stumped.

Howeg, just because a cookbook uses Splenda doesn't mean that you can use it as is for SBD. You need to look at the lists of foods to enjoy and avoid and modify recipes. I'm currently using a couple of splenda cookbooks and I had to make several changes to their ingredients to make the recipes SBD friendly. It wasn't hard, but I certainly couldn't use them as is.

We can have the corn syrup in Cool Whip (Fat Free or Light) because it is such a tiny amount ( 2 Tbsp.) If you are cooking, I'd try to stay away from corn syrup and use SF syrups instead. Not sure if they correspond one-to-one with corn syrup or if they would be too liquidy, but you'd have to experiment. Good luck!
