Our other thread was too long, and it was hard getting in, so here we are.
Whats going on with everyone? Any exciting plans for Memorial day?
I work tomorrow, BUT there are ONLY 4 more days of school, then I am off, off, off for the summer. :)

Hi Everyone!
Happy Memorial Day Weekend to All!!! :)
Have been running like a chicken without a head lately. My parents showed up at my front door Thursday as I walked in from the Volunteer Luncheon at school. Mom said she just couldn't take the burage of realtors that were coming through the house. Unreal! Anyway they got it sold on Friday afternoon. Got everything they asked for to. I'm glad that's over. It took me two hours to get home with all the traffic that afternoon. The ride is usually only about 45 minutes! OUCH!
Crashed yesterday! Really needed it. Besides the cruddy weather we are getting really isn't good for much of anything. The kids want to go to the pool, it's only hitting low 70's. BURR!!!!!! Don't think so.
Right now I'm waiting for my best friend to come. They live an 1 1/2 away and we don't get to see each other often enough. Can't wait!
Cindy - Let me know when you have more specifics as to where you are going to be on the 4th of June. It's becoming a really rough day and don't know if things are going to work or not, but going to give it a good try. That's graduation day here.
Viv - Have you got yourself back on eastcoast time yet? How's dad doing?
Theresa - What you up to this weekend? How's the weather?
Robin, CAB, Linn, Laurie (and anyone else my brain that doesn't function might have missed LOL) - HI!!! ;) Hope your having a great weekend.
Enjoy!

Morning Everyone!
WHERE IS EVERYONE?????????
Nothing much new here. Just running at top speeds to keep up with school getting close to the end.
Laurie - Do you still want to get together with Cindy and I when she is in town???? She is going to be in Frederick on next Tuesday night and we are planning to get together for dinner here. Can you come up and join us? It would be great if you can! Email either of us and let's try.
OK, So where are the rest of you sleepy heads??? There have been lots of peeking in to see the posts, but nobody else is posting here!!!!! Come on you guys... I was the one you came down on before, now I'm here and no one else is here to talk to. :(
Hope when I come back later I'll find all my friends here to greet me! :)

Hi everyone--
Nothing much new here.
We had a nice long weekend. We managed my favorite trifecta (sp?) -- We had extended family time, just the 5 of us family time, and got out to a few restaurants for couple time too. It's a rare thing to do all 3 around here. Plus, we even went to a BBQ w/friends. It was really a nice, long weekend.
Lynn-- I hear you on the end of school stuff. The kids have had a lot of work. The kids get out June 12th. Boy, are they piling on the tests now. Preschool ends Thurs. She's very upset, because she signed up to bring cherries to the make a sundae party, now she wishes she signed up to bring ice cream. Ohhh, the trauma of being 3.

Hey Guys - suffering from an awful sinus headache but i wanted to post the article i got into the paper about sugarbusters....this is a big paper so i hope the word got out well - article is NOT perfect but it's a start. Let me know what you think:
Sugar Busters' Is No Atkins Deprivation Diet
By CLAUDIA VAN NES
The Hartford Courant
May 30, 2001
I've tried every way to lose weight except having a zipper stitched on my lips. And a low-carbohydrate diet.
Because the latter is one of the most popular weight-loss plans in recent history, it's quite astonishing that I, a veteran of many a diet war, have not joined this campaign.
That's not altogether true, however. I've come to believe sugar is a major deterrent to weight loss, so I've certainly cut back on my consumption and increased protein intake. I also recently tried a week of very low-carb eating, which affirmed my fears about this way of eating.
I lost 3 pounds following the plan and using the easy, tasty recipes in a book I wrote about in last week's Food section called "Low Carb Meals in Minutes" (Bay Books, $18.95) by Linda Gassenheimer.
Sparing you the details, I'll just say havoc was wrecked in my innards, although I was not hungry and did lose my craving for sugary stuff by the second day.
But this plan and Robert Atkins et al., with their long lists of forbidden fruits and vegetables, fiber and starches, are too Draconian for me. Further proof comes from readers who talk of slipping off the Atkins wagon a lot more than they talk of staying on.
Those who've written about weight loss, including me, tend to lump the authors of "Sugar Busters" (Ballantine, $23.95) with Atkins and the rest. The "sugar busters" are from the New Orleans area and include three doctors and one big-time businessman.
Indeed, the book reads like yet another get-rich-quick diet book. The writing is boring, and the promises are as big as the typeface to ensure enough pages are filled to have something to put between two covers.
"Sugar Busters," like other diet books, describes the scientific processes connected with food consumption, and it's tough to read. You can get advanced college degrees in this stuff and trying to explain it in a couple of chapters is impossible.
So, take the mind-numbing writing and the title, which certainly makes it sound like another no-carb diet, and it's not surprising "Sugar Busters" gets grouped with Atkins.
It shouldn't, though, because, as a Simsbury advocate says, it isn't a no-carb plan; it's a no-sugar, sensible carbohydrate plan. On Sugar Busters, you can eat bread, pasta and rice as long as they're whole-grain. You can eat fruits, except for sugar-loaded ones like watermelon and bananas, and you can eat vegetables except for white potatoes, carrots and other root vegetables, and the big one, corn.
I've heard from other Sugar Busters advocates, but the Simsbury reader really hit home with her well-grounded enthusiasm.
She's 42 years old with 7- and 10-year-olds, a husband, a job, a busy life and a tendency to be, since the kids, about 20 pounds overweight. A healthy eater, she says she tried Weight Watchers and other diets and though faithful, didn't lose.
Finally, she turned to Sugar Busters. From the beginning of February to mid-March, she dropped 11 pounds, was never hungry and didn't feel particularly deprived.
Some personal problems caused her stress and the need to travel so she rather purposely decided to spend time on a plateau, adhering to the basic principles of no sugar but not as strictly as she had been.
Now, she's back on, determined to whittle off the last 9 pounds and figures once she does, she'll ease off now and then and if she gains, get strict again for a spell.
What she misses most is pizza, off-limits because of the white flour, and sushi, made with white rice.
Cereal is a problem because there are so few without sugar, molasses, sucrose, honey or other sugary stuff. She eats Uncle Sam's or Special K, but for most breakfasts, she has fruit - one half-hour before the main meal, which is a Sugar Busters rule - and then a piece of multi-grain bread toasted and spread with two triangles of "light" Laughing Cow cheese or light Swiss. She often uses Ezekile, a brand of bread in the frozen food section at Stop & Shop and at health food stores called because it's one of the few she's found without much sugar.
This way of eating requires careful reading of labels because sugar and its equivalents are in a lot more products than we might assume. (Lactose, a milk sugar, is permitted, so milk and other dairy products are on the list.) Corn, or its oil, also is a common ingredient in food.
This woman uses as a sugar substitute agave nectar, made from a cactus plant that looks and tastes like honey but with a thinner consistency, she says. Some other sugar substitutes, including aspartame, are also permitted.
A website this woman discovered offers a better explanation of sugar busting, a number of recipes and some impressive before-and-after pictures of its author, who lost 100 pounds on the plan. It's called www.prettyimpressivestuff.com/sugarbusters. Also helpful to the Simsbury reader is a cookbook, "Sugar Bust for Life" (Shamrock, $14.95 ), by Ellen and Theodore Brennan.
So, I'm sold. I'm going to try Sugar Busters' plan and keep you posted. Please tell me your experiences on this plan, as well.
So>>>...???

Hi Everyone!
Hope you all had a good weekend. Mine was great :) I had a really good time with my friends. All 4 kids got along well all weekend also.
Viv - Thanks for the SB article. I'll look up that web site. I don't know if I want to swear off potatoes and corn..:(
Cindy & Lynn - I'd like to meet with you two. Have you decided a place yet? Could it be somewhere close to 270? It would make my drive a little easier if you guys wouldn't mind.
OK Everyone, I'm shopping for a new microwave. Does anyone have a convection oven and do you like it? Do you have any good recipes using it? I'm trying to decide if I should go with just the regular microwave or the convection/microwave combo. Please let me know what you think. My MIL used to tell us that we shouldn't use a microwave while in child bearing years. Since I'm not having any more children I can use one now :D LOL
Well, it is time for bed. Take care everyone.

Hi there :)
It's been crazy on the farm for the past month. We are done seeding now and getting ready for spraying now.
I've done lots of work in the yard. Painted the garage, the house and an old shed. I also helped dh put in a new brick planter in the front yard and I'm slowly working on my pond.
I don't have too many flowers planted yet. I hope to do that on the weekend.
I lost 6 lbs. in this past month;maintained last week. It's so slow:(
I'm off to the city tomorrow to spend some time with my best friend.
Nice to see some of you able to meet; that is so great but I wish I was down there too:(
I'll try and post to each of you next time. See ya!

Good Morning,
Today is my LAST day of working until school takes in again in august. :)
Laurie-I'm flexible, just not sure about time yet, I'm meeting some friends during the day, and not sure how long we will be. I'm going to call Lynn when I get there. Do you have Lynns e-mail? somehow the two of you need to connect and make plans.
Farmbabe-I think losing 6 pouns in one month is good, think about it, if you did that EVERY month, you would lose 72 pounds in ONE year. NOT BAD!!!! :)

Good Morning!
Laurie - Have two places in mind, one is Houlhans at FSK Mall, the other is Famous Daves on Route 40. Either on is real close to 270, so you can get right back on. Houlhans is American Food, it's a chain you can probably look up on the web and Famous Daves is BBQ also has a web site. You and Cindy can pick and then we can meet! Sounds great.
Jill - 6 pds in a month is quite a bit of weight to loose. Don't down yourself, your doing great!
Cindy - GOOD MORNING! Check out what I wrote to Laurie and let me know which works for you. Don't think we need reservations and don't think either place has them anyway. No where around here has them any more, give you a buzzer and go.
Hi to everyone else.
Later,

Hi Everyone,
Lynn & Cindy - I don't really have a preference. Lynn has picked 2 restaurants which are equally easy for me to get to.
Did anyone have an opinion on their microwave vs convection oven? I need to make a decision soon. I was hoping to get some user feedback.. :^:
Viv - I tried going to the link you had in your last post and got into a non-food/weight loss web site. Was it the correct link?
Linn - it is nice hearing from you again.
Has anyone heard from CAB? Does she have that baby potty trained yet? :D LOL
I hope you all have a good day.

Morning........
hmmmmmm not sure about all these new options.....hope I don't "mess" up my post. looks like we can type in 'color' now?! lol too early to mess with figuring it out right now lol
I went to WW Sat and had an awful gain. in my defense, it was partly due to missing ww the weekend before, my period being late (ugh--I hate mos like this!), had 2 deaths in my family, AND a little depressed cause I hit the big 40........ BUT I'm over all that and back on program. doing really well, even over the weekend. :)
Robin, so sorry to hear about your dh's brother passing. my aunt that pass away was only in her 60's and uncle (other side of family) was young as well --
Jill, save a slice of turkey for me. I love turkey and dressing.....what kind of dressing do you make? bread crumbs or corn bread? ....now if you say corn bread, I'm likely to hop on a plane and be there this evening for left overs! lol
Lynn, seeing your new pic under your name reminded me of something. My dh told me his mom wants to get the kids a puppy for Christmas.......now mind you I've wanted to get the kids a puppy but dh has put his foot down in a big way to that......but now that it's his mom wanting to do it.....he's thinking about it.......just p*sses me off! why can't I have that kinda control over him?!
I need to see 6th grader out the door. this is his last week of school :) I'm glad too......tired of getting up early everyday. lol
Lynn and Laurie, enjoy meeting Cindy tomorrow and be sure to take some pics! wish I could be there

Good Morning All!
Ok, Theresa you can choose a color, but then you get this tiny box to put what you want in it. ;) Fun anyway!
Had the weekend from *ell  trying to console my Mom. She is mourning the loss of her house. We went furniture shopping on Saturday and she finally did find something that she liked and bought. So now she is donating her living room furniture.
Theresa - My DH never wanted dogs or A dog for that fact. But once we had one, guess who said it was his. Just you wait, I bet the same thing happens to you. :smug: Amazing isn't it!
Hope everyone had a great weekend. I couldn't get on here because Rachel was hogging it for a school project. Oh well, to tired to care at this point. Can't wait for parents to move and school to be over.
Talk to you all later.

hi everyone--
Theresa -- I agree with you. Does DH at least see your point. We gave the dog to the kids for Christmas last year. We picked her up from the breeder the day after Christmas. For Christmas, they opened a box that had 3 beanie baby golden retrievers and I had lined the box with pictures I had taken of our actual puppy when I had picked her out. Winter is a little rough for housebreaking. Plus taking her out in the beginning in the middle of the night is COLD. Luckily, we didn't have much snow that winter. Do you have any fall holidays? Or maybe next easter? A puppy is tough during summer vacations. What kind are you thinking of? ohhh --and happy 40th (a litttle late) Welcome to the club.
Have fun at dinner -- Cindy, Lynn & Laurie

Hello,
Hmmmmm Linn, I was thinking the same....maybe Easter. also I've got a very old cat (14).....i don't think she's gonna be amused having a puppy in the house. ......and I know this sounds really selfish, but I'd kinda like to be the one to buy "MY" kids a puppy........ when the time come lol
geez, Lynn, you've already figured out "colors" lol I'm afraid I'll lose my post if I mess with it. lol
I'd better go, need to get some things done around the house.

i was trying to figure out the smilies...i think i got it.
we are still waiting for the final results of bil's autopsy...talked to the medical examiner today and she strongly suggested for dh to get a physical and chest xray....bil's heart should weigh 400 grams, and it was 700 grams, some major artery was 90% blocked, and he had some arterial coronary disease? i can't remember it all...but i have a call in to dh's dr. to set him up with some tests in case this is genetic. not ready to lose him for a long time!
lynn - how exciting ya'll get to meet...have fun and tell us all about it...take a picture !
jill - because of last week, being on the road alot and having to eat fast food i am dreading weighing...i am going to check it in the morning (am also waiting for tom to end) i am expecting a pound or 2 gain..if i am lucky i will be the same....14.5 loss...we will see..... i saw you lost 6lbs last month!! :D good for you, that's great...yes, it is slow...don't you wish you could just go to bed and wake up 40lbs lighter? that would make me so happy.
theresa - so sorry about your aunt and uncle..i must have missed that post....what kind of puppy are you thinking about? if i ever got another one, i would get one with hair and not fur...unfortunately, that would be a poodle or a bijon? girlie dogs, i don't think the boys would appreciate that..suppose to be great for not shedding hardly at all and good for people who may be allergic to dogs. ..they were also recently listed in my child magazine as one of the 10 best dogs for kids...you might want to check that out.

Hello Everyone!
I see Lynn already filled you in about our dinner. Cindy is just as nice and funny in person as on line. :) It was great seeing Lynn again and meeting Cindy. Cindy brought 2 cousins who fit right in. We heard lots of family stories along with stories about New Orleans. Can't wait to go there some day.
I guess no one has a convection oven since no one answered my questions about one. :?:
I'm on my way to Findlay, Ohio this weekend for my niece's high school graduation. She is very excited about graduating and beginning college. Who wouldn't want to return to those carefree days? :dizzy:
We finally made a decision on someone to fence in our backyard. Poor Sparky (Springer Spaniel) has had to have us tag along with him outside for every potty break. He's used to having his freedom in the backyard.
I finally turned on my air conditioner last night. It has been pretty cool around here for the last 6 weeks. I can handle some heat until the humidity begins. We'll get a taste of what the electric bill will be for the new house with the AC running.:(
Robin - I heard today that my prescription for Meridia has been approved by my insurance company. :D Instead of paying $100 a month I'll only have to pay $20 for 90 days
Well, it is time for me to turn in. Good night everyone.

don't they have the little convection ovens now that are the size of a microwave? is that what you were talking about? my big oven(only oven, besides the microwave) has a convection baking feature....i hardly ever use it, since it blows the hot air around, it browns my stuff too much before it is done...i would be lost without a microwave. hope that helped.
lynn and laurie - sounds like ya'll had fun for dinner....someone needs to come to texas for a vacation! we're fun :dizzy: !
gotta get to bed...i am going shopping tomorrow..i need my rest.

HI,
Got home late last night, from a fun trip.
It was great seeing Lynn again and meeting Laurie, and guess what???? we forgot to take a picture of the 3 of us. Lynn and I snapped a picture as soon as I got there, then we sat down, and we got so busy that we forgot to take another picture of the 3 of us. BUT, Lynn did you and Laurie do pictures the first time yall met. ANYWAY----These are two nice women, we had fun talking about our families, and I talked about New Olreans and Mardi gras. Ate a good meal and after about 2 1/2 hours headed out the door.
Robin-I like TEXAS----whereabouts in TEXAS are you? LOL I'll come see you. Hows the weather holding up with TROPICAL STORM ALISON? We're still getting rain from it. We are on the east side of the storm and thats the worst side to be on because of all the flooding. we have street flooding, and there was a tornado nearby. and its STILL RAINING. We won't need rain for weeks. My flowers look like crap.
Laurie-I'm glad that your insurance company will pay for that medication. :)

Hello everyone,
Is this a group for Moms or stay at home Moms. I have convinced my self to start on ww. My husband & I are ging to Gatlinburg next Thursday for 3 nights. ALL ALONE!!! NO KIDS!!! So I can't start until after I get back. I can't start then either because of the big 4th of July party we have. Ok...I am going to start Thursday July 5th. There is a ww group who meets on Thursdays mornings about 10 miles away from here. Do I need to join an outside group?? Or can I do it somewhere on the web??
50 pounds would be nice to lose but I'd be happy with 45...no I wouldn't! I am 5'7.5" & weigh a whopping 192 pounds!! Last year I was 152!! Too many oreos & no activities!! So here goes!!
