South Beach Diet - Non-Scale Victories (NSVs)

I had a non-scale victory today when I tried on a pair of size 16 denim pants I bought after Christmas. They fit me then but were too tight to sit in, and even tighter after I preshrank them. :(
Today I put them on and they are OK, just need to be shortened. Yippee! I've not been a size 16 butt for years and years! The scale is sort of stuck but something is happening! :)
Have you got a NSV to share?

I'm wearing size 18W pants today! Considering that when I started SBD I was in a size 24W, this is great!! (Although keep in mind that my 24's were comfy, not tight.)
Ruth - congrats on the 16 pants!! I'll be so happy when I hit that size again.

Sassy, I was thinking back and checking old journals and the last time I had a pair of size 16 was 1991!

I'd be pretty close there to you, then. I'm thinking that it was around 1993 for me. I actually remember my last beloved size 16 outfit that I held onto until I just had to accept that I couldn't get into it anymore. I was going through a "country" phase and it was this adorable peach button down western style shirt and peach denim skirt. I would wear it with my brown boots and I just thought I was IT!! Too bad I don't still have that outfit around...

:bravo:, Sassy!!! Great work!!! Isn't it amazing to be in a size that starts with a 1 instead of a 2? (I started out as a tight 26/28)
Sassy, that outfit sounds adorable! I remember a pair of size 16 jeans that were too big for me when I was about 13 or so. A neighbor's daughter gave them to me in a pile of her old clothes. When I was in high school and went on a diet, I was just able to squeeze into them. I think that might be the last time I wore a size 16...about 1991 or even 1990. It's been a while!!! I'm currently about the size I was when I started college in 1992. Wow.... memory lane! :D

Sassy, congratulations, hon!! :cheer: :cheer: I'm tempted to take my pants off to see what size they are, but I'm in the kitchen and we have company, so I'll hold off until later. :lol3:

Jeans have no mercy, so when your a 16 in jean you know that you are a 16 or less!!!

I have at least 5-6 pairs of jeans in varying sizes that I cannot wait to dig out and try on, everything from a 16 (that I can just barely squeeze into) to 14's to 12's...oh, to fit into those 12's again...

That is great for you, Ruth!
I had a NSV too. I actually lost .5 pounds when I weighed myself today, but apart from that, I tried on a lot of my old clothes and they fit!
I have this gorgeous silk skirt I have been holding on to for close to three years. It never fit me right AT all. I had to put it way up on my waist and even then, it was tight and looked absolutely awful.
I tried it on and it fits! It is almost perfect. I also tried on a very small size ten that I haven't ever been able to fit (I just loved it so much, I bought it.) and it fits! It is slightly tight, but it works.
Yesterday, in the fitting room at Target, I was trying on size 8's! And they fit. Yippee. :smug:
This is the smallest I have been in ages. I feel great.

i have two nonscale victories to report. One is much more exciting for my ego than the other, but both are good none the less.
1) Down to single digit jeans! Back into a size 9. Haven't been in 9's since MIDDLE SCHOOL. Due to medications and then laziness and the stopping of sports to start working.
2) Got hit on last night, by a pro hockey player while at the game with my roommate. This one is better for the ego. I never used to get hit on (at all) much less by an athlete. So yay, this are big motivations to keep on going towards my goal.
Well, off to the gym for a "butt & gut" class.
Bye chickies!

Erika, it's GREAT to see you again! You are doing so well! :cp: :hat: :bravo: Congrats on both huge NSVs...I would love to be in single digit jeans, but I don't think my hipbones will ever allow for that! ;) I was in a size 12 when I was 12 years old!

jnmcelwain - I can so relate! The highest I got this holiday was too tight for my 14's, but I refuse, absolutely REFUSE to buy new jeans.
Why? Not because of the money thing, though that doesn't help. Nope, not even because of stupid pride. Because I know me.
I know that I'll go to a store alone, buy a pair of 16's and say to myself that they are only temporary and I will be a 12 again...only to buy an 18 the next time I go shopping. Ahhh, such a vicious cycle.....
However, my NSV is that I did recently buy a new pair of 14's...which feel way more like a 13.....and though they did not fit in March before SB, they fit like a glove now! :)
Is being able to walk around your house naked a NSV? Shades closed of course!
