The Weekly challenges....
1. Do something special for yourself. Treat yourself to a pedicure, or something. It can't be food related.
2. Set a mini goal for yourself. Share your goal so we can all cheer you on.
3. Try a new recipe this week in anticipation of Thursday, when we will share our critique of the recipe. You can find lots of recipes on the recipe board, or find a new one, then post it.
Ok, go out there and MAKE this a great week!

Good morning all....starts out with a small bummer...I told the Brownie Leader Cookie Dad that I would go to Council and get two cases of Tagalongs and a case of Do Si Do's (used to be Savannahs) for us to split because we ran out between the two troops (I have Juniors) and just realized my NYS Inspection ran out on Saturday. It's a nice hefty fine if you're caught with a sticker that is out of date and it's right there in the windshield for all the cops to see :o . AND, my emergency brake froze over the summer (because I NEVER use it...it's flat as a pancake around here...but my husband insists on using it since he's from CA, I guess he's always afraid the van is gonna roll off to somewhere), since I never use my Ebrake, it gets bad, but never freezes, but he just had to go and use it and it froze, so he disconnected it. Up here they get all gummed up with salt and road treatment things if you don't use them regularly. Soooo, my van won't pass inspection with the Ebrake not hooked up and you all know the seething temper that starts to rage inside me at the mere mention of going to the mechanic!! First, it'll be the Ebrake, then it'll be the shocks are shot and then it'll be the muffler is about to go and he'll make up all these horrendous stories after scraping the sticker off the van and make me let him fix all of the above...and so...I'm really getting ticked off!!! I have to take Junior to the vet for shots in the middle of it all and you know...I don'tlive in a normal area where everything is situated five mins from my house....everything is at least a half hour away from my house...the vet is a half hour away from here AND the Council in Watertown. So...it's setting up to be a frustrating day.
Anyhow...gotta run and take a shower so I can get the day rolling...hopefully in the right direction...

TECH: I am sorry you have to deal with that kind of stuff. I tell Tom that is what I married him for...to take car of the cars, and boy he better do it! Is there a different mechanic you could use? Sounds like you need a new one. Does your dad know about cars? Doesn't he live close by? Mechanics don't try that crap on men for some reason, or if they do, its not as big a lie for some reason. Speaking of cars, I have to call and see if they will look at mine, since we are driving four hours away tonight for a funeral. I am not going to like having to sit there while they look at it. I just hope they CAN look at it!

This will be quick as I have a LOT to do today! I'm so exictied, I can't stand it. . .
Monet--Well, I think I can do pretty good on one of your challenges. . . I'm having a manicure and pedicure this morning and then treating myself to a two-week vacation--does that count as doing something special for myself?????
Tech--Sounds like a VERY frustrating day. I don't like to go to the mechanic either. Hope it's not so bad for you.
Miss Belle has been very snuggly last night and today, I think she is sensing I will be away. . . I will miss her.
Ok off to have some breakfast and get my stuff done. Have a great OP day everyone!

First of all...a little funny that my mom forwarded to me 12 Step Program for Computer Addicts (http://www.riversongs.net/Flash/geek.html) LOL...I didn't know anyone had been watching me!!
AND, regarding the mechanic...my dad recommended me to a guy named 'Stubby', whom he claims is honest, so I made sure when I called that I mentioned that my dad recommended him and that he said he was an honest mechanic...so if he is, he should be. BUT, Stubby doesn't do inspections...so, he's going to fix the Ebrake and go over the car for inspection-type problems and then send me on my way to get it inspected. One of the places in town that does inspections, last year, inspected my dad's old truck that we bought from him and said that the brake line had cracks in it, so I drove it home without the sticker and had my husband look at it and it was creased, not cracked and was fine, so my husband replaced it and it finally passed...but he was going to charge me about $200 to replace it. What a PAIN!! We only use the truck to take the boat to the launch that is 2 miles from our house...and for dump runs, which is 5 miles from the house. But, you can't imagine the hassles I've gotten from mechanics over the years. Once at a Midas Muffler place, the guy told me my shocks were shot and the car was barely a year old...then another guy told me my shocks were shot at a GoodYear, and they were probably ready at the point, but he had to use a blow torch to get the bolts off and the sparks started my hatchback on fire and since it was on the lift, nobody noticed it until you could see the flames in the windows!! It started the roof on fire and the entire back of the car...including my carseat. They had someone with a van of aphusltry (I know its spelled wrong) things come and strip it out and since it was 1999 and my car was a 1991, they didn't make the seats anymore, so they got seats out of a junkyard that didn't match exactly and were in worse shape than my originals...and the whole time they were soooo consdescending to me, like, "Lady, it's just an old hatchback and its just the interior and we're gonna get it fixed...just calm down...." And I thought...if this had happened to my brother-in-law and this were his brand new Lexus, it would be a whole nother attitude. And my DH is in NJ...and my dad is like, "I have a Dr. appointment at 9:30 tomorrow, so I can't help ya..." So, once again...I feel like I need to go in with a tank aimed at the front desk and dress in camos, saying..."Fix ONLY what needs fixing or the entire garage GETS IT!!" I really should just go to school to become a mechanic so I can fix the friggen thing myself!!
Okay...rant over for now...I can't take the car to Stubby till tomorrow, so I have to have my dad drop me off tonight. That's if he can squeeze it in around his doctor appointment tomorrow!! And I have to take Junior to Alex Bay to the doctor illegal and hope nobody passes me. It's pretty remote, so I should be OK.
Okay...off to throw mudballs at the barn...

Good morning....
I am so glad last week was over. Frankly...it was a little too much for me and dh. Yesterday was Jess birthday party and it was sure tiring. I much prefer a smaller birthday gathering instead of a "party". We didn't have a lot of kids (7 very active kids in total) but more than what I had in mind since dh invited 2 more "active" kids to the party last min. My house felt like it was being hit by many little tornadoes....LOL. We had to let the tornadoes out before they did more damage and they were really happy about it. The daddies took them out to the backyard and they were exhausted when they came in. Poor guys. I don't think I will do birthday party (for her friends) every year, maybe every other year and some years, I am thinking of a family celebration instead. I might let her pick out what restaurant she wants to go, what movie she wants to watch etc. Perhaps a little picnic at the park with very few friends...that's it. Yesterday was too overwhelming for Jess too. Too much going on with each kid. Oh well, I am glad it was over. I had some leftovers to take care of today, lots of cleaning and resting. Jess has music class today too. I won't be doing replies today but wanted to let you all know I survived the weekend....lol.
Take care everyone and will check in later or tomorrow.

Self Understanding
I do not want the peace which passeth understanding, I want the understanding which bringeth peace.
~Helen Keller
The greatest journey we will ever take is the journey into ourselves, for we are a microcosm of all that is. We can learn (and we need to learn) from all that is around us. Self-understanding is what will bring us the peace of balance.
Self-understanding is soul awareness. It comes with allowing that knowledge that is within us to emerge. When we think we know everything about ourselves, we show our ignorance and our arrogance. The wonder of human beings is that we are constructed in such a way that we can spend our entire lives exploring our inner universe and its connection to the universe as a whole and still barely scratch the surface.
Never stop learning about yourself or you will be an uninformed fool who has no peace. Self-understanding is a process that is never completed. We fool ourselves when we think we have had enough.
My thoughts:
I’m sure you may be wondering how this pertains to losing weight/maintaining. Well I know that for me, once I start thinking I know how to do something, I inevitably screw up lol. I think the gist of this is that we don’t want to become complacent with who we are. Once we become comfortable doing something, we don’t change. Change is very scary, especially when it is a major change like losing weight and becoming healthy. I made a comment to a friend of mine (you know who you are Monet hehe) that I thought I was afraid to lose weight and be healthy again. I’m scared of who I will become then. Yeah I know it’s all psychological mumbo-jumbo but it really gets to the core of succeeding/failing with weight loss. It wasn’t until I actually said those words to her that I realized it was true. And that because of that one little thing that was lurking in my brain, I was sabotaging my weight loss. HOWEVER, just acknowledging that I felt that way was very freeing for me. I truly do learn something new everyday J
My challenge to everyone this week is this:
Find some time to be alone and think, I mean really think, about why you have/have not succeeded with your goals lately. Write them down! This makes them real and tangible and easier to deal with. Now pick just one negative thing that you learned about yourself and every time you find yourself doing that divert yourself and do at least 3 things that you learned you do that are helpful to you. By replacing the negative with several positives we are telling our sub-conscious that we WANT to succeed!

Hello all:
I am still alive, and finally feeling a bit better. I went to my doctor on Thursday, and he thought I might be getting pneumonia, since I had rattling in my lungs. He sent me in for a chest x-ray, that actually came back fine. He also thinks I may have mono, so he took a blood test, but I haven't heard back on that yet.
The ER doc that I saw put me on augmentin, so by the time I went to see my doctor on Thursday; I had been on it for two days, and did not feel better at all! AND, to top it off, it gave me diarrhea so bad I had to stop at Walgreens on the way to my dr. appt. to buy new underwear. By the time I knew I had to go, it was too late to even get to a restroom...it was terrible. My doctor took me off the augmentin, and put me on a different antibiotic, but my diarrhea still has not completely ceased. I have one more day of this other antibiotic and then I will be done! I volunteered weeks ago to bring a lunch for Britt's teacher today for Staff appreciation week, so I wil bring lunch for Britt too, and pray I don't have a "poop problem." I will bring a change of clothes, just in case. AND, to top it off, I am now raw down "there." I guess I know what diaper rash feels like now. I wonder if one of Lane's pull-ups would fit me; I could wear it to Britt's school today   .
I am going to continue to take it easy this week. I may try to start getting back to the gym on Saturday. I will have missed two weeks by then. I got as low as 118#'s yesterday, but was up to 119.5# this morning. NOT a fun way to lose weight at all!
I am happy to report that Lane is almost completely potty trained. I still have her wear pull-ups when we leave the house just in case. We might try leaving the house in panties in a few more weeks.
Tech: So sorry about the "not so good" start to you week. I can totally relate to the distance issue. We drive Britt 40 minutes to school each way, every day. Our vet is 45 minutes away as well. Every time we go anywhere, we plan to be gone for awhile. Hang in there; it will get better. Every single time I even go to get my oil changed at Jiffy Lube, they try to tell me that I need to do a bunch of stuff for the truck. I just tell them to write it all down, and I will talk to my DH when I get home. That usually shuts them up.
Fillise: Have a fantastic vacation. I can't wait to hear all about it when you return!!
Ken: Birthday parties are exhausting. Britt is in first grade now, and in kindergarten and 1st grade every student invites the entire class. So, Britt wanted to do the same. She only has 24 kids in her class, but by the time her party rolled around, she had 30 kids at her party (with cousins and siblings, etc). Thank Goodness we had it at a park. But planning for it was exhausting, and it got very expensive too. She originally wanted to invite only the girls and go to a Girly Girlz party, but when I called it was so expensive (around $350), so I said, "no way." Well, once this party was said and done (paying the Mad Science people for presentation and party bags, the subs and chips, the ramada fee, etc....her party was nealy $500). I know in a few years, it will be sleepovers and smaller gatherings. They are only young once, and these are memories they will have forever. That is my way of justifying paying a ridiculous amount of money for the party ;) . We are just going to take Britt and Lane to Build A Bear workshop for Lane's birthday this year and let them both make a bear. I hope you get some rest today!
Monet: Thanks for starting the board, as usual, and for the challenges. I am not sure that I am up to anything this week. I will check in to read what everyone else posts though. I think I remember reading that you got your shower fixed; that's great. Are all the cars working now?
Well, I better go find some butt cream to put on my behind!
Have a great OP day!

Whew...what a morning! My car smells like it has a gas leak, so I took it over to the Toyota repair place we use. They were going to get it in this morning... A friend picked me up and took me to the church office where I did some work and handed in a bunch of stuff from the festival. I finally called the mechanic and asked him if there was any word on the car and the &$#^ had JUST taken it in... why, why did I have to be down there so early then? I have not heard anything and its been another hour and a half. Oh well. I don't want to drive it with a gas leak, especially if its a dangerous one, all the way to my mother in law's for the funeral.
I had a salad and some hummus and pita chips for lunch. Breakfast was four strips of bacon, two eggs, and that Nature's Own cinnamon bread toasted.
I need to go pack, and finish tying up lose ends before we leave. I am sure I will be back before we leave this afternoon...

Howdy ya'll. I think I'm finally getting over this nasty cold. Yesterday if it was wrong I ate it...LOL But it was my first time really eating in a couple of days. We put a few sad looking zucchini plants in the ground this morning. And I have some seeds soaking to speed up germination. Once they are in the ground I think the garden is pretty much planted for the season. The white radishes are growing really well and when they are just about eaten up we'll put in a few more of those. Most of the tomatoes are blooming like crazy. I picked two green ones this morning to take the load off of one plant that is just covered. It's the only one with tomatoes already. A couple of the smaller squash plants have little tiny squash on them. It's too funny. They are barely big enough to have leaves much less squash. :)
Monet...Thanks for starting the board today. This weeks challenges are great. Praying it's nothing too serious with the car.
Julia...I'm not much on parties. So on their birthdays they get to pick what they want me to cook and I usually make them a cake. You would think they would want a store bought cake but they prefer when I make it. I hope you have a restful week this week.
Poncho...hope you are feeling better soon.
Tech...hope you get your car fixed without any "extras" being thrown in. And that you pass inspection.
Sebray....hope you do well on your finals today. I visited your sight the other night. All the pages did fine for me except the blinkie page wouldn't come up.
Susan...woo hoo..almost vacation time. ((hugzz))

Hi all ! Its Monday! I just LOVE Mondays... :dizzy: LOL
We actually had small tiny balls of hail today. This weather is crazy ! This coming Saturday is supposed to be high 70's..go figure.
Im trying to plan a dinner for Saturday night to celebrate Mothers day with my mom and celebrate my dds birthday ( which if May 11) . So I thought why dont I cook dinner and just have them all over. Well, talking to my mom the idea of them coming to my house might be out pending how my dad is doing that day, which is no problem, I said we could come over there and I will cook there. Then after chatting a bit my mom says shes going to the grocery tomorrow and shell get some chicken and the makings for rubarb pie ! Im like.."Mom, the whole point is you not having to cook" ! Geesh. She does this everytime we do something like this . She just cant handle not doing a thing ! LOL
Tech - So sorry your having a bad Monday. Sometimes life can be a series of hurdles cant it !
Fillise- dont get yourself to wore out before you leave !
Kengjw- Its been a long long time since Ive had kids bday parties but I remember like it was yesterday! It is alot of work and stress. Think of it this way..those could of been all "your" kids... at least they all went home. :)
Sebray- That was great ! And your so right. I think Im gonna find sometime before bed to do just that ! Thanks.
Pancho- sounds like you might have been allergic to that one medication. I was hospitalized one time with a antibiotic gave me that problem so bad it was like every 15 mins. I couldnt leave the house ! They put me in the hospital cause they didnt know what was wrong until they had me off that medicine for a few days and added one and one together.
Crystle-Glad to hear your feeling better. Im so jealous that you have veges already. I cant even get mine started with all the horrid weather we are having. Tonight it to be at freezing between 1-7 am. UGH
Hi and well wishes to everyone else ! :)

It's 10:45 pm and I am packed!
I am happy to report that all my stuff fit comfortably in the suitcase I had and my carry on is only about 1/2 full. I still need to put my cosmetincs, my reading materials in it and my camera, but they should fit easily. I still have more room (and weight) in my large suitcase if I need it. The limit is 70 lbs and mine weighs 39.5. First and only time in my life I've been underweight!!!!!
I still need to finish grading projects, but that can be done in the morning (there are only four and I've seen them before). I'm going to lay down and take a nap and get up at 3 am. That's 9 am Rome time and I'm trying to get my body adjusted asap. I want to be exhausted when I get on the plane tomorrow night so I will sleep.
I will miss you for the next two weeks. If I get to an internet cafe, I'll try to check in, otherwise I'll be back in touch on the 18th!
Ciao!

Ooh, I'm so excited for Susan. She's probably at the airport now. Italy is such a great country. The people are wonderful, the food is super, and the scenery fabulous. I hope she has more fun than she is expecting!!
Sorry to miss day one on the board this week. I had a really busy day yesterday. I have our suitcases in my study, ready for packing. Have a few things out so I won't forget them. I had a class last night and one tonight, both of which I had homework. So that took up most of the day. The weather here is great. Almost hot enough for the A/C, which we have turned on, but cool enough to leave some of the windows open and not have the A/C turn on. Around noon it gets a little warmer, so I'll close the windows.
Didn't walk yesterday :( , so I'll have to do that today. My dentist visit went OK. Actually it was an orthodontist visit. The way I chew apparently causes wear on my teeth, and now my lower teeth are very "short." So my regular dentist said I probably should have work done. It would take 2 years, and then my regular dentist would do some crowns, etc. I am still in the talking stages, and have more questions for my regular dentist. I can't imagine having braces, again, at 62 years of age. Last time I had braces I was 16. If I decide to do this, I will start next year.
Pancho--hope you are feelling better.
Sebray--Good luck on your exams.
Monet--Thanks again for your dedication to the board. Hope your cars get FIXED!!!
BOB--Hope you are feeling better today.
Texas gals--get out your snowshovels!
Have a great day everyone.

I haven't disappeared, just MIA.
It has been extremely busy here at work and plus it is DERBY WEEK. Too much going on every day. So I probably won't be around much this week. Tomorrow we are going to thetrack for a nice lunch and we ususally stay for a few races. Friday I will be there all day and Saturday too.We have a BIG party Thursday night and another one Friday night. Saturday night I will crash but not for long as on Sunday we have to leave for Lexington at 8:30 for my DD's graduation. Whew! I'm tired already just thinking about it. Of course Derby week comes along with needing outfits. Since I am so busy this week I have been hitting Walmart at 7:00 a.m. and running through the store like a mad woman. This morning had to go back and take things back that didn't fit or look right.
Eating Sunday was not good. Mexican for lunch (we took all my DD's roommates to lunch and then pizza for dinner). The scale was up 8 pounds yesterday. How can that happen? It was down 6 this morning. I am getting very frustrated. I think that was my problem on Sunday. I thought why not, even when I am OP I gain. I think my butt is growing by the hour. I need to talk to my onc about these meds. Maybe that has alot to do with it.
Don't have time for any responses. I am so sorry. I quickly read the posts. Just wanted to let you all know where I was. Will try to check in again sometime this week.

Car update: Well, my dad came through and after Junior's vet appointment, my dad met me at the mechanic's to leave the car off. But before I got there, Junior barfed on the floor. :( Poor thing...he didn't agree with the worm medicine. Anyhow...I took out the rug so I could bring it home to clean it...but I think I may just go without the rug in the first place.
Soooo...Stubby said that he had to order two new cables for the ebrake and that it should be done today, or tomorrow at the latest, depending on when the cables get delivered. I have my entire life savings ready to deplete for the charges...I'm prepared to sacrifice my first born and hand over the deed to my house to pay for it...you know how they always rip you off...like Chevy Chase in Vacation when those hick mechanics fixed his green station wagon. I'm just dreading it. I'm going to beg and plead with my father to go in with me. BUT my mom reminded me that when we brought the van in last summer to have it looked at and my husband brought it in, Stubby didn't know what was wrong with it, so he didn't even charge Derek for his time. So THAT's encouraging. Maybe he's honest after all. Keep your fingers crossed with me!!

Hi all:
I hope you are all having a great day so far. I am feeling quite a bit better; the diarrhea still hasn't let up completely, but it is getting better everyday. The bloodwork came back fine, and the Mono test was negative. I have no idea what I had, but I hope it is something that I can never get again!!
I got some of my results back from the gyn. I go in on Friday for an ultrasound. So far, my endo biopsy and pap were normal. My hormones were in the normal range, but a little low for someone my age. So far, so good. They think they may see something in the ultrasound to explain the spotting/bleeding. We will see on Friday. I have to take Lane with me, so it s/b an interesting appt. I will have to bribe her to be good with some type of reward after ;) .
Lane had her first swim lesson today and cried the entire time. It was so sad because she was up at 6:20, so excited about swim lessons, and talked about it all morning. She was not very happy when her face went under the water for the first time. She kept crawling out of the water like a little crab, and they kept having to go get her and put her back in. It was kinda funny to watch, but a little sad too. It's going to be tough to get her back there next week.
I was 119.5# this morning, so I am about where I like to stay (120#). However, my DH and girls are taking me out for Mexican food on Sunday for Mother's Day, after church. AND, I am going to eat whatever I want. I haven't had Mexican food in a long time, and it is my favorite! I might take some of my flax chips to eat in place of the chips though.
Sebray: What an ambitious exercise goal; I hope you meet it!! Congrats on the loss; keep up the great work. I hope you are able to find a doctor for the kids soon.
Monet: If you haven't already left, have a safe trip!!
Country: Glad you are feeling better. Sometimes when you are sick, it's best to just get down what you can. I was there too, and just ate whatever I could stomach, or swallow. I'm glad you are starting to feel better.
Cindy: Sounds like a fun get-together that you are planning. I hope your mom lets you take care of her for Mother's Day, and relaxes and enjoys her day. I guess you never stop being a mom, right? I may have had a reaction to that antibiotic....my bowels are still messed up.
Fillise: I am sure you are already gone, but I hope you have a safe, fun trip.
Gator: Your weather sounds a lot like ours. We can open all the doors and windows in the mornings and evenings, but midday it gets too hot, and we have to close the house up. We actually are going to be in the 90's today; a bit toasty. Good luck with your teeth.
Jack: Wow, what a busy week ahead. Try to get some rest when you can so you don't get too run down. I am sure your meds have something to do with your inability to lose weight. My SIL had breast cancer, and she gained 30#'s from the meds that she was put on after her ordeal. Hang in there!
Tech: Sorry to hear about Junior getting sick; that must have been a mess to clean up. I hope the charges on your car are not too much. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.
I better go peek and see if Lane has fallen asleep yet.
Take care & have a great OP day!

Hi all! I'm baaaaack!
Well, after a darling daughter (born Aug '03 one month early!, and still 7#), I am back up to 150#. I gained 65 with the pregnancy, and dropped back down to 135 easily - most of it was water weight. With no time, and all those bad habits that go along with it, I've gained again.
So, here I am. It's nice to see some familiar faces: Monet, Fillise, etc... But, where's Debelli? Anyway, I'm going slow, with sugar-busting/low-carb trying to get back into this WOE. If only they made Hamburger Helper and Zatarain's dirty rice mix with brown rice or sweet potatoes, I'd be set! :D

I ALMOST FORGOT!!!! i know its not friday funnies today but i HAVE to share this with you!!!
MEN NEVER LISTEN!!!
In a Chicago hospital, a gentleman had made several attempts to get into the men's restroom, but it had always been occupied. A nurse noticed his predicament. Sir, she said, "You may use the ladies room if you promise not to touch any of the buttons on the wall."
He did what he needed to, and as he sat there he noticed the buttons he had promised not to touch. Each button was identified by letters: WW, WA, PP, and a red one labeled ATR. Who would know if he touched them?
He couldn't resist..
He pushed WW. Warm water was sprayed gently upon his bottom. What a nice feeling, he thought. Men's restrooms don't have nice things like this.
Anticipating greater pleasure, he pushed the WA button. Warm air replaced the warm water, gently drying his underside.
When this stopped, he pushed the PP button. A large powder puff caressed his bottom adding a fragile scent of spring flowers to this unbelievable pleasure. The ladies restroom was more than a restroom, it is tender loving.
When the powder puff completed, he couldn't wait to push the ATR button which he knew would be supreme ecstasy.
Next thing he knew he opened his eyes, he was in a hospital bed, and a nurse was staring down at him.
"What happened?" he exclaimed. The last thing I remember was pushing the ATR button. The nurse replied, "The button marked ATR is an Automatic Tampon Remover. Your penis is under your pillow."

Hi Everyone! Just a fly by! I am back from the funeral. Some good things went on as well as the sadness and usual stress of being with my in-laws. I don't have time to go into it now, but will try and give a report tomorrow. Right now, I am exhausted, and having the old swelling problems from my surgery. I know it is from overdoing it at the festival, but I sure hope this is its last hurrah, and once it clears up I won't have it again. Walking usually helps, so tomorrow I will walk. Right now, I need to go make Tom's smoothies and lunch.
TREE: Welcome back! Its good to see you again! Stay! We need you.

Good evening. We just got in from mama's a little while ago and I've been checking my gazillion email. :) I tried a new recipe for grilled romain lettuce and it was totally awesome.
Monet...glad you had some good times and not just the sadness. Hope your swelling goes down and you feel better soon.
Poncho...It's good hear you are starting to feel a little better and it's not mono. That stuff takes forever to get over I've heard.
Jack-k...enjoy Derby week. ((Hugzz)) I'm sorry the scales are being a toot.
Tree...welcome back. You'll be in the swing of things again before you know it. Just remind yourself....you are worth it! :)
Tech...I'm glad you father was able to help you out. Hopefully they will have your car up and running in no time. Without a huge fee. My son's drive shaft feel out the other night and he is about to go nuts waiting to find out how much it's going to cost to fix it. They keep changing their minds on which parts are truly broken.
Sebray.. it's nice to have a treat from time to time. I'm biding my time for my fried green tomatoes. I have two sitting in the window just calling my name.
Gator...our weather is like that right now. So far I've been able to leave the front door open. Right when it's about too hot it starts to cool down for the evening.
I think I am gonna get and have a wonderful soak. One of my favorite non food treats.
Love and hugs,
Crystle

Good Morning! I slept like a log last night. It sure felt good. This morning, I need to get moving on deciding on a menu for Monday nights fancy dinner for church. This is the last meeting of the year, and so they want it to be an appreciation dinner, with a nice menu and stuff. I told them I would do it, but only if the staff, ie the pastor, asst. pastor, small group/worship director and kids mininstry director served as my wait staff. They agreed...and I can't wait to boss them all around. I am thinking of fixing Beef Wellington (beef tenderloin in puff pastry) but I need to see if I can find beef tenderloin for a good price before I commit. :)
The trip to the funeral was fairly good. After the funeral, the women of his aunt's church had a lunch for the family. Keep in mind, this is a deep south area...we had deep south food. I tried to stick to the legal stuff, but I would have starved if I had. I had a fried chicken tender, and a bit of a few different casseroles that were very southern and very not legal. I stayed away from the pizza, and things obviously laden with potatoes, except for a bite of one casserole that had potatoes and chicken in it. It was actually pretty good, but the potatoes were not cooked all the way through. I have no idea what the recipe was, as I have never seen anything like it before. There were tons of butter beans and green beans cooked with fat back and cooked to death, and I ate some of the best looking ones, with the least ham and fat in them. I did splurge and have a bit of banana pudding, and a taste of a piece of snickers cheesecake. Oh, and they only had sweet tea to drink! We hung out at my mother in laws for a bit and visited with her other siblings, then headed home about 4pm. We stopped and got a salad at Wendy's- man was it good...but probably not totally legal, just better than french fries. I got the Mandarin Chicken salad, with sesame dressing. It has mandarin oranges in it, almonds and some chop suey like noodles that make it really good. Then, Tom got us some chicken nuggets, and we ate those in the car. Both of us agreed they were gross, and made us feel lousy an hour later.
So, its back on the straight and narrow today. I am doing a detox for a few days, just to get back on track and feel better. The last week has really taken a toll on me, and I need to put on the brakes and change direction or something!
Has anyone noticed Diet Coke with splenda is out? Laura brought me a bottle of it Friday night, then Saturday I sent Tom to the store for more sodas at the festival and he brought back a 12 pack of it. We found some on the road yesterday too. Its nice to have a soda to use with caffeine if I want. (It sure helped us stay awake driving down and back up four hours each way. ) It tastes much better than the stuff with aspartame in it.
I better go work on my menu. Anyone have any suggestions for an elegant meal for 40 to 50? I was thinking maybe roasted asparagus, salad, Beef Wellington, and a dessert. What do you consider an elegant entree? An elegant dessert? I would appreciate input!
SEBRAY: I hope the finals go well...
FILLISE: I guess I missed you, but if you read this when you come back, know I was thinking of you, and hoping you are having a good time.
COUNTRY: Ah! A long soak is something I used to enjoy! In this house, we have a shower stall, and the other bathrooms have tubs, but I have never gotten to use them! I may have to do that.
PANCHO: I am glad the tests are negative so far. I do hope the ultrasound will give some explanation. Sounds like fibroids, though. There are some natural things you can try for them before surgery. I wish I had done more research before I had surgery, I am just so glad you have a good doctor now who is not rushing you into it.
CINDY: How is the weather up there? It is still kind of cool here, but the tomato plants are taking off. What is 'bark'? You aren't chewing on the trees are you??? :s:
JACK: Enjoy Derby Week! Just don't over do it! Man, I hear you on the weird gains. I walked and walked on Friday and Saturday and the scale was up six on Sunday morning! I am afraid to see what it is now, after eating the heavily salted, southern foods I was having to eat down in south Georgia. Check in when you can....we miss you when you are gone.
TECH: I hope the mechanic did not charge you much...When I took my car in Monday, they could not find a gas leak, thankfully. I was shocked when they did not charge us anything at all. It needs other work, and I am sure he is confident we will bring it to him now! :) Of course we have been using this place, as it specializes in Toyotas, for several years now, and have never had a problem.
GATOR: My car preformed well down to south Georgia and back. Even so, on the way back, Tom and I talked about what we need to do in the future. I think he would like a Toyota Four Runner, to use camping, so that will probably be my next car. I saw my sister in law at the funeral, the one who lives near you, made me think of you!
I need to go fix breakfast, so I will check in later! Its good to be back! Now, I wonder where Heartmom, SarahLL1031, Arcayne, Fruit, and Bob are...

SEBRAY: Um, thanks, but PB&J probably won't cut it... :) Tom tells me "BEEF! Its what's for dinner! " Unfortunately, it is a rather hip crowd, so they are all gourmets..and hard to impress.

Good morning ya'll. I'm down a pound from last Wed. so 155. :)
Monet....There is nothing like good southern cooking. I'm don't that it's elegant but I love cheesecake. And you can plate it so pretty with just the right sauce. I'm trying hard to think of an elegant entree but it doesn't take much to impress me...LOL A treat for me is lamb or prime rib. Then again if mama says she is gonna make a pot of gumbo I'm first in line. :) I hope you find just the right menu that is fun for you and pleases your group.
Sebray...How funny. I've never seen the movie. But I have heard of it. Good luck with the rest of your finals. Have you thought about what you are going to do with your down time this summer?
Bob...how are you feeling?
Heart.....are you hiding? Come say howdy. We miss you.
Arcayne...(waving at ya) How are you?
Toni....(((hugzz))) You aint forgotten either. Hope you are doing okay.
Jack-K...Are you having too much fun this week? :) ((hugzz))
Tech...How is junior doing? Are you still enjoying the puppy stage? Dixie's new thing is getting on the freezer on the back porch. She stands on her hind legs and gets into everything...agh...LOL
Cindy...good morning.
Poncho...howdy you. I hope you are feeling tons better today.
Colleen...hey woman. How are you? Did they find out what was causing those dizzy spells yet?
Tree....good morning.
Gator...((hugzz))
Well, the kids are working on lessons and I need to get moving.
Have a SUPER day!

Hello gang....
Just a quickie to let you all know I am still here!! The weekend was very busy with Brant's party. It was a reallly fun time. My best friend from high school showed up with her husband. We try to get together a couple of times a year, so it was good to see her. Lots of the family was there and later in the evening when most of us old farts were gone (I hung around until 8 pm)......Brant's friends showed up. I got some pictures, but not enough. I forgot to take them when his friends started showing up, guess I just got busy saying hello to all of them. Then I forgot and left the camera at Mom's, so had to go back the next day and get it. I was very proud of myself because I didn't even have a piece of cake..........until the next day......when cutting it up to freeze the leftovers!!
Back on the straight and narrow again, and throwing in some jogging with my walks......boy does that feel strange on my back side, all the extra skin I have jiggles up and down, lol!!
Menu--
B-- 2 turkey bacon, Lite 85, 1/2 c Fiber One, 1/4 c ff milk, 1 Splenda, cinnamon.
snack-- appple
L-- 2 slices lf ham, 2 slices ww bread, mustard, 1/2 oz pepperjack cheese, 1 sweet red pepper.
snack -- orange
D-- chicken breast, spaghetti squash, salad with lite bleu cheese, 1/2 c sf pudding.
Haven't read any of the post yet.....with try and get back here this afternoon, as I have some shows that I want to watch tonight. Later gators!!

Howdy everyone! The board is slower this week than usual; I wonder what everyone is up to. It's easier for me to keep up, but I'd rather see a busy board than one not so.
WIW....I was at 118#'s today. I am sure I will put those few pounds back on once I am able to keep something down without having to go to the restroom right after. If I am feeling better, I will be having Mexican food on Sunday. My Mom's Club is having a Cinco De Mayo (a little late) for our Mom's Night Out next Wed., so I will be having fajitas there. It won't take long to put that weight back on  .
I hope to get to the gym Saturday and to get back into my 4-a-day routine. I'm going to have to ease into it since I have been away from exercise for two weeks.
I am leaving here in a few hours for a play that Britt's class is putting on; she is so excited about it. I think they are doing something for Mother's Day. She always tries to make those special occasions ultra special. She is so precious! I then have to take Lane to Wal-Mart to pick out some glasses (yes, she needs glasses already). She had been acting like she was having problems with one of her eyes, so I took her to a pediatric eye doctor to have it checked out, and sure enough....she needs glasses. They will be clear glass in one eye and a prescription in the other. I don't like her to have to deal with glasses when she is not even 3 yet, but it has to be done. She is so stubborn, and it may be difficult to keep them on her.
Tree: Welcome back. My DD was also born a month early, and weighed 7-11oz. I bottomed out at 152#. I set a goal w/ SB for 130#, but ended up around 120#'s. You shouldn't have a problem getting the rest of that weight off. Congrats on the birth of your DD; we are glad you are back!
Sebray: Glad final #3 is over. I hope you enjoyed the celebratory shake....now you can't use that excuse for any other final ;) . I always feel better when I workout early. It just sets you in the right direction for the rest of the day. Thanks for the Wed. funny.
Cindy: Howdy!
Monet: Welcome home; I hope you get some rest. What's up with the sweet tea in the south? I don't like my tea sweetened, but can't seem to find unsweetened when travelling through those parts. I am sure the salad was refreshing after that layout of food. If you must get chicken at Wendy's, the tenders are far better than the nuggets. I heard about that Coke, but didn't know it was out yet. I'll have to try it, even though I am swearing off soda for awhile. Elegant? What's that? . I so wouldn't be the one to give you any advice. Your menu sounds plenty elegant and delicious to me.
Country: Grilled romaine lettuce? What made it special? It seems to me it would be soggy. It sounds interesting; how did you do it? Congrats on the loss; you are doing awesome. I knew everyone would do better when the weather warmed up.
I hope I didn't forget anyone, but I gotta go curl the hair, and put some make-up one.
I'll try to check in later.

Still here and lurking. Even if I don't write I'm always reading the posts. But of course I'm not doing well so feel bad about coming on. My heart is longing to get back on track and I don't know why I just can't do it. I'm so proud of you all when I read how well you're doing. Thank you so much for the hugs CountryMom... Well my house got pretty well cleaned today and most the laundry is done. So guess I get to go rest a bit with my little dog. Have a happy day....

Nat, it wasn't soggy at all. The outer edges were wilted and wonderful. The heart was still crunchy. I just cut it in half. Cut off the tiniest part at the end so it would still stay together. Drizzled with olive oil and seasoned with cajun seasoning. Then just put on a really hot grill. When warm and starting to have those wonderful grill marks turn over. As soon as you pull it from the grill sprinkle with parmesan cheese. The original recipe was on a cooking show and they used fresh grated but I don't keep that on hand. Next time we are gonna throw a little grilled chicken on top. Mama was surprised at how tasty it was. Trust me, if my mama liked it you know it was good..LOL
Toni...(((((hugzzz)))))) Don't let bad eating keep you away. We all have those times at least I know I do. And when I let it keep me away I do even worse. We'll help you through your rough times and you can help us through our rough times. Hang in there.....you are an awesome woman!
Love and hugs,

Wow, all the food talk.
LOL, Monet. If you had seen "SuperSize Me" you never would have touched the chicken nuggets. LOL. It had a segment in that movie about how they make those things. It was funny but gross.
Your description of the food at the funeral was great. I love soul food, and southern cookin' is the best. All those cooked to death veggies with fat and sugar in them--yum! LOL You should have taken your camera to record such a southern event.
Tree--Welcome back! I remember our dinner with my DD out there at that spanish/mexican? restaurant near the hotel you were staying at. Congrats on your new baby. Motherhood is great, but trying at times. Just keep focused on the fact that they are a gift from God and that 18 years is pretty short, actually. When they reach that "un-cute" stage it will make it easier to be a good mom when you'd really like to ship them off!! LOL
Country--I've eaten grilled lettuce before. It was great. a half head of romaine, brushed with olive oil and grilled, just like you said. I think it was served with thousand island dressing, or maybe homemade italian.
It is raining here, a good day to start packing. Tomorrow night at my evening French class we are gonna watch a French film. Everyone (3 of us--one person dropped out) decided to bring food while we watch. Wine-bread,cheese, and maybe I'll bring olives.
My DD's bfriend is moving in over here while we are gone. He will house sit. Actually, he is moving in tonight and will have dinner with us. So I need to get going and get stuff arranged in the guest room. See y'all later.

TONI: If you are not doing so good, you are in good company! :) I agree with Country! Don't stay away. I do much better when I post regularly, and honestly. When I do well, I can't wait to tell everyone, because I know they will understand. <hugs>
COUNTRY: I think I have my menu set...Beef Wellington, salad, either roasted asparagus, or broccoli with hollandaise sauce, and I will either do strawberry shortcakes, or cheesecake for dessert. I bought the beef today..I just need to cut it into the steaks. Many of the steps for the Wellingtons can be done in advance, so I like the idea of having a lot done before Monday. :)
PANCHO: I don't know why everyone in the south has sweetened tea...but most places I go will serve me unsweetened if I ask. There are a lot of Yankees here in Hotlanta! In the country, they eat a lot of sugar. I keep trying to tell my MIL that her cholesterol would improve if she ate less sweets, but instead she is cutting out fats and wondering why it doesn't work. If she ever discovered I was correct, she would be SO mad....I am not supposed to know squat about anything. I hope you continue to feel better....
I need to go get some stuff done!

Monet: then tell them that to starving people in ethiopia its a gormet meal :P
Crystle: i am going to VEG!!!!! and try to get my house back together lol.....im also using my down time to get ready for my summer french class....ive got the book already so im going to brush up on my french....ive worked too hard to get my gpa back up to a 3.0.....im NOT going to let one stupid little french class ruin it lol
Pancho: i am starting to enjoy working out early...but about noon im getting really sleepy...dont know if its an effect of the exercise or just my large rear-end  i wont buy another shake for awhile lol...but it was definatly nice to have an excuse for one....i really felt like i deserved it after the crap i went through this semester
well....final 4 is over :D *getting giddy* only one more....bio, im acctually really worried about this one, if i dont do good on it i might get a C in the class...and that would TOTALY suck monkey bum....im sure ill do fine with the stuff about things we just learned...its the questions about the whole semester that im going to have a problem with....my short term memory is shot from so many car accidents (my brain is now a brainshake lol) i remember things that i just learned (within the last month) and i remember things that are older then 5-6 months but only if i knew them before or if it was consistently reinforced durring my 'blackout' period.....which of course, things hardly are lol.....the information is in my brain, its just almost impossible for me to retrieve it...so i HAVE to cram for exams, otherwise ill never remember the stuff lol
today i have to take devon to get his glasses readjusted, i think he sat on them again lol....while we're at walmart we're going to get aidan's bday present (his bday is monday) and then ill come home and make dinner and study all night....my exam is at 11:45 tomorrow so ill get it done early and have the rest of the day to relax :)
um...well....i guess i should go now lol
oh congrats to all our losers this week :)

I got my beef tenderloins for $5.49 a pound...and got them cut up itno roughly 4 oz pieces. Next step is to make the mushroom stuff...its got a French name that no doubt Gator knows, but I can't remember, except it starts with a Dux... :) I can make it and freeze it according to the recipe....I have made this dish before, but never used this particular recipe. Should be interesting!
Got home to find Laura had taken a wild hair and opened the pool for her father! She called him at my insistence to make sure she did everything you are supposed to do. He was not really happy, since he can be ticky about details. She talked to him for 30 minutes, I think, and got him all settled down. I thought it was great! One less thing he has to do. She told him she wants him to have time to work on the plumbing so she will have a toilet sitting in the right spot in her bathroom! :)
I wonder where Fillise is now? It would be so cool to go to Europe on a vacation....but gosh, we can't even afford to pay to have our cars fixed right now, let alone plane tickets to Europe! :(
GATOR: I DID see Supersize Me! I must have had momentary amnesia though...or Tom did when he decided to buy them! I can't touch burgers, or fries after Supersize Me, so at least I learned something!

AFTERNOON EVERY BUDDY!!!
We've had thunder and lightening storms all day and it's not over yet! Lucky for me I don't live in Jacksonville though...they had hail three inches deep!
I'm trying to hurry Monday up on getting here. I start my next round of injections and believe me...I NEED THEM!!! I had to leave work again today because my arm and hand were numb!
I'm watching PHANTOM OF THE OPERA....Patrick Wilson (a local) is in it and plays the part of the Lead Singers Lover...I don't know who cast this Phantom, but he can't sing worth a crap! I saw the stage production of this a few years ago but there is a lot more to the movie....
Next is NATIONAL TREASURE....can't wait to see that!
Hope everyone's day has been better than the gloomy one going on here!
I'll be back later...

Just a fly by! I got my beef tenderloin cut into 46 pieces...now I have to see how many reservations they get. :) We went to a meeting tonight. The house it was at belongs to a couple we were close friends with years ago, and have not seen much of lately. He came into some $$ and they totally rebuilt the house...only one room looks the same! It sure was weird!
I made it through the first day of the detox diet. It sure has been hard today! Right now, I could chew on the desk, and think it tasted wonderful!
Tom has been in a crabby mood tonight...he is feeling overwhelmed. I better go and soothe the savage beast...

Hey gals.......I made it back. This is going to be short except for replies. I need to amend my menu......had grilled pork loin chops instead of chicken, ( I thought I grab chicken out of the freezer!) and I had a Pria lc bar instead of sf pudding. Got some of the decor done in the small bedroom today. I was repainting some old homeinterior stuff.....turned out pretty good. Done in the black gloss paint Bill wanted for accents in his part time room, part time computer room.
Monet-- I don't know how you do it......always cooking for such large groups. I have trouble trying to cook for dh and myself. I wish just once when I asked him what he wanted for dinner, he would give me an idea. Instead I just get the same answer......"whatever you fix". MEN!!
Country-- Congrats on the loss.....you are doing great! I called in and transmitted the the recording, but haven't heard from the heart clinic or my doctor. It's always such a pain waiting...... Hey, that grilled romaine sounds delish.....
Pancho-- How are you feeling? Haven't had a chance to read earlier posts.....hope you are on the mend. Yes, that is an early age for glasses, but believe me.....since hitting 40 my eye sight has been going down hill. She is much better off being able to see correctly!! I am not at the stage where I need prescription glasses yet, according to my Optimologist, but even the reading glasses are a pain. I hate that I have to have magnified mirrors to put on my makeup now and can't even read a label without first finding my glasses.
Toni-- Nice to see you! Don't feel bad, I am struggling again too. We just have to do our best, and get on here as much as possible for the support!!
Gator-- Hello!!
Sebray-- 4 down, and only 1 more to go!! You are doing great, keep up the good work!!
BOB-- Can't they do anything more for you besides pain pills. I would hate to have to be on them for any length of time. When I hurt my back, I was on the Hyrocodone for pain and Flexeril for muscle relaxation for a couple of weeks, and when I stopped taking them I had the hardest time getting to sleep. It was horrible for about a month. Guess I could get easily addicted?? Hoping that they can resolve your pain soon. ((((HUGS))))

Just a quick car update...
Well, it appears as though I've found an honest mechanic. He said my Ebrake was fine, it just needed to be 'worked' a little and re-hooked up. BUT, it had to replace my brake pads and calipers and he showed me the old ones and they were totally rusty and horrendous. I believe it, too, because if I go a few days without driving anywhere, the wheels are stuck and I have to give it gas to pop them out of their frozen state. So, he only charged me $170!! I was pleased with that, actually. And next is the inspection, and since Stubby doesn't do inspections (apparently, NYS has made mechanics get this $10,000 or so machine to do inspections with and Stubby can't afford it...NYS is such a rip off with things like that!!), so my dad took me to a car dealer and the lady behind the desk actually knows my dad! So, I go in today at 12:30 for that...but Stubby said everything on the car should pass with flying colors. Hurray for that..and I hope the car dealer agrees!!
AND, I feel bad because I was bent my dad was saying he couldn't help out because he had a doctor appointment, but he really pulled through for me and he and my mom really helped me out tremendously!! So, I'm happy for that, at least!!
And, in other news, DD got her four teeth pulled and is a new kid now that it's over. I think the poor thing was more stressed out about it than she or I knew. So the toothfairy slipped her a 20 for her four teeth. I'm such a sap! But she cried through the whole thing and went through it really hard. Poor thing. So, i took her to Walmart to spend her Fairy earnings and she got a new cool Barbie. I'm so glad she still likes to play with her Barbies. She's growing up so fast, especially physically, and looks like such a teenager, it's nice to see my little girl playing with Barbies... :smug:
Okay...will do replies later...have to get the kids rolling...Kris

I know I've been away for a while. Things are always crazy these last few weeks of school. I've not been doing well with my eating and it's time to jump back on the wagaon! :^: I will try to get back to plan this week and will weigh in next Wednesday and change my ticker if needed. :o
For those who remember me and my mom being sick, she has been home for a week now and doing great! :D She went to the cardiologist yesterday and he says she is doing so well, he does not want to see her again! LOL
I think she has three doctors to see next week and one the following week, so we'll just see how it goes. We are planning to go down for a week in June, so I should really be trying to be OP from now till then! :^: We will be spending a lot of time on the beach AAAHHHHH! in a bathing suit OHHHHNOOOOO! Well, better get back to work now! See ya soon!

Morning! I woke up about 15 minutes ago. I was shocked to look at the clock and see how late it was!
I need to go down and see if James is awake in a few minutes. I have never seen anyone who could sleep through an alarm like he does! Laura has two finals today, and she is still asleep too. I don't think she studied much. She has definitely tried to do too much. When she opened the pool yesterday, the booster pump for the vacuum would not turn on, so Tom is upset about that. The pump is very old looking and may need to be replaced. (it was there when we bought the house ten years ago) That is NOT going to make him happy with everything else going on, which is why he was in a crabby mood last night.
TECH: Yay! I am so glad you got things worked out ok on the car!
TEENSY: So, I cook. You impress me with all your painting and planting....I don't know how you do all that! I need to paint some here, but I never seem to be able to get started even!
I'll be back!

Okay...time for a couple replies:
Thin: What great news to hear your mom is doing well!! What a relief it must be! Welcome back on the wagon!! ;)
Monet: Are you doing that horrible detox again? Bleh! I don't know how you do it. It sounds like a horrendous eating plan. I don't think I could get passed the hunger and not down an entire package of Chips Ahoy!! And I'm glad to see you sleep in!! You deserve it! I overslept the other day, too, but I was having a really intense dream that my husband found out he had a 20-year-old daughter in CA and she was a punker with bright pink spikey hair with peircings and tattoos and she hated me. :( I couldn't shake that panicked feeling all morning!! Thank God it was just a dream! I mean, if he had a surprise daughter, it would be wonderful, but not if she hated me!!
Teensy...you'd be GREAT on Trading Spaces!! I wish I had the money to do renovations/redecorating like you do. Or the time, in fact. I have to finish my son's curtains for his bedroom. I have one window done and that was over a YEAR ago! It's all cut out and mostly done, I ran out of white thread and bought a new spool, but never got the gumption to get the sewing machine out again. I'll be doing it today, I think, because I have to wrap-up my quilt for Girl Scouts so they can help me tie some yarn knots in it, like a little quilting bee. :D
Sebray: GOOD LUCK with finals!! And I love your website...but I was looking for pictures...where are the family pictures???
Cindy: Our weather is taking a turn for the better, too!! Finally!! I have laundry out on the line again today...as long as I can keep Junior from tugging it down :(
Hey, BOB!! Glad you're getting some relief from pain! Even if you have to wait till Monday, at least you know its on its way!! My movie I'm trying to watch is Meet the Fockers. My hubby got it for me last week and I just havent found the time to sit and watch a movie! I'm trying desperately to go see Sahara in the movies because my darling Matthew is the star, but with hubby being gone to NJ for weeks on end, its just really crappy timing. When he's home on the weekend, I can't get him to budge off the couch, he's so happy to be home and since I'm home all day, I'm like, Gawd...lets DO something!! Anyhow....it looks as though I'm going to have to wait till I get it on DVD.
Crystle: Did you say you were eating fried lettuce? Its amazing the difference in menu from North to South. I remember when we drove to Florida when I was a kid and we ate breakfast somewhere in the South and they gave us grits on all our plates. We all just stared at them and said, what the heck it THAT? My dad was the smart one and recognized them as grits and we're like, 'what are we supposed to DO with them? Jelly? Butter? Put it on our toast?' I don't think any of us ate it, just tasted it... We were confused...
Toni!! Just take it one day at a time...one meal at a time...one snack at a time. You can do this!! And don't avoid posting when you're doing bad...that's the time to POST!! When you need intervention!!
Okay...so I had an almost illegal breakfast yesterday. WW Blueberry/strawberry pancakes...with sausages. I know, it's not illegal, but I had three huge pancakes, so I think I ate too much. Oh...and maybe I should mention the double cheeseburger I had at McD's last night. I would have had their new grapes/apples/walnuts with yogurt salad they have now, but I didn't want to eat that on the road as we didn't go inside to eat. I have to sit down and examine something like that!! I kept asking myself if ketchup and pickles qualifies as vegetables  You know...kind of like jelly beans count as a protien? :lol3:
BF this morning will maybe be pancakes again...just not so many and with more fruit...probably cantaloupe and grapefruit. Dinner is up in the air as DH said this morning that there was a rumor that the class he's taking in NJ is going to be done today, a day early, and then he may be home for dinner if they let him out early enough. It's a five-hour drive.
Okay...off to make breakfast. Did anyone watch American Idol last night? Finally Scott is GONE!! :cb:

TECH: Oh for goodness sakes, EVERYONE knows you mix your grits with your scrambled eggs! You can mix in bacon crushed up too, if you like! I love em! :) Alas, they are corn and a big no no. I know how you feel about wanting to get out when the hubby gets home from a trip. When my kids were small, Tom was working weeks and weeks in Chicago. I went with him and visited my family there some, but it sure was hard to go from single parent to doting wife on the weekends! :) I wanted to go out to eat, and he was sick of restaurant food....I am sure you can relate!

Tech--The reason they invented grits was so you could eat lots of butter w/o feeling guilty. Monet- I think the best way to eat grits is to serve them steaming hot on your plate and put a big glob of butter right in the middle, to make a butter "swimming pool." Then take the grits from the edges and dip in the butter and eat. mmmmmm good! A comfort food if there ever was one.

Good Morning:
Good grief....I get so sick I feel like I am going to die, so I get an antibiotic to help me and it gives me such horrible diarrhea, I can hardly leave the house. AND THEN, I had to end up going to my gynecologist yesterday because the antibiotic gave me a horrible bacterial infection that I have to be treated for now. I even started taking the acidopholus when I started the antibiotic to help replace the good bacteria. I am so hoping to be over all this soon.
I weighed 119#'s this morning, and I guess that is good since I ended up eating a bowl of popcorn with m&m's after 8 p.m. last night.
I read an article a while back that said you would have to walk the length of a football field to burn off 2 regular m&m's. Just think about that the next time you eat the entire bag :p .
Britt's play at school was so wonderful yesterday; they geared it toward Mother's Day, and all the moms were crying. They did 3 skits and sang 3 songs. It was so special! They had drawn portraits of their mothers and presented us with a rose at the end. I am so glad I remembered the camcorder; it will be a treasured memory forever!!
I got Lane fitted for her glasses yesterday; they s/b in in 7-10 days. She didn't like any of them though, and was being very difficult.
Toni: It's tough to stay motivated in the long run. I remember when I started SB, I was always baking legal desserts and trying so many new recipes, and I find that I am not that motivated anymore. When you do something like this for the long-haul, you are going to find yourself in these low times, but we have to remember that it is even more important for our health than it is for the weight loss itself. Hang in there!!
Country: Thanks for the recipe; it sounds pretty good. I'll have to try it when we ever get our grille. We are building an entertainment area outside, and haven't gotten our grille for it yet.
Gator: I still have to rent that Supersize Me movie; I am sure it is so enlightening. Enjoy your class tomorrow.
Monet: I think people have been mis-led for so long. They would rather eat a handful of fat-free sugar-laden cookies than a handful of those ever so fattening nuts. Good luck with the detox!
Sebray: You will have to find a non-food reward for yourself once you finish all your finals (maybe a manicure, pedicure, massage???). Don't give yourself too many reasons for junk-food rewards; it's too easy to fall into that trap. Suck Monkey Bum????? ;) . How old was Devon when he got glasses? How'd he adjust?
BOB: I hope you are not too uncomfortable this weekend. Monday will be here soon, and hopefully you will get some much needed relief.
Teensy: My mom is the same way; she needs glasses just to read a label. She's always looking for her glasses, and they are on her head....cracks me up. The eye doctor said that they usually don't catch eye problems such as Lane's until they get older (7-9 yrs. old), and by then both eyes are damaged because one has had to pick up the slack for the other and overcompensate. He said that down the road, she can get just one contact lens for that eye, or have surgery for it when she is an adult. I guess it is a blessing to catch it early, so her other eye will be o.k.
TEch: Glad your mechanic didn't take you for a ride. $170 sounds reasonable for the work you had done. I hope it passes inspection for you. $20???? I won't mention that to my daughter. She's lucky if she gets $1. It is horrible to see your children go through any type of surgery/procedure, so I understand where you are coming from. My 7-year old doesn't play with her Barbies much anymore. She is getting into the lotions/potions/play make-up, etc....She will still play baby dolls with Lane though. She also loves her stuffed animals (all 150 of them - ha).
Thin: Good luck getting back on track and into that swimsuit. Glad your DM is doing better; that is fantastic news!!
Well, I gotta go check on my cheesecake and spend some time with Lane.
Take care!

Man, I am SO bummed! I went to get a few things I needed for the dinner on Monday at the grocery store. The puff pastry had gone up and costed me almost as much as the meat! What's up with that? I have the meat marinating and I need to go brown it, then freeze it. I also want to fix the duxelle stuff- mushrooms and shallots and wine all sauteed together. Then, tonight for dinner, I will try the recipe out on Tom and James! Lucky stinkers. I may even eat one myself. :s:
Just checking in...I will be back to do replies in a bit...

I'm still alive, just haven't had the time to get on the computer like I wish. Anyway, my weight...it's at 163. Still up 3-4 pounds from my low, but better than it was. I'm just a little bummed about it still being at 163 for the past 3 days or so, ready to see it start dropping again. I sooooo want to lose these last 20 pounds! I'm doing better with my weekend bingeing. I did eat a meal off plan last weekend along with a pack of peanut M&M's, and the scale was up 2 the following day. But I got back on track and it was gone again the next day. People I know say I look fine, that I don't need to lose 20 more. But I can wear certain things and feel so fat. I can definetly see where the 20 pounds are. Here's my menu for the day.
BF- navel orange, and sf yogurt
Lunch- big salad made with tuna, 1 egg, onion, cuke, tomato, celery, a little cheese, and Ranch dressing.
Supper- will be grilled pork chops, cabbage, and sweet potato. I haven't had sweet potatoes in forever. I hope it doesn't affect my weight tomorrow, or I'll be swearing off starches.
Well, I need to run, still have email to check and chores to do!

Tech: thanks :) i wont put any family pics online...its too scarey to think about some pediphile drooling over my kids....but if i ever remember i will post some here for you guys :D
Pancho: devon was.....6 i think....he has a lazy eye and should have had glasses sooner, but we never caught it until he was in first grade and had a reading vocabulary of barely 4 words :( within 3 months of getting his glasses he had surpassed his class's reading level :D he HATES his glasses lol, i have to tell him EVERY day to put them on....he has gone through 3 pairs in the last 2 years lol....he whines every night because he wants to get contacts like kevin, but i told him it'll be a cold day in **** when he gets contacts...i cant even trust him to be responsible enough to keep his room clean so im definatly not going to trust him with contacts lol .... i think it was harder for him to adjust to them because he had to wear a patch over his left eye for almost a year to make h is eye stronger :( poor baby got teased sooo bad for it so the doc said he didnt have to wear it at school if he promised to wear it every min that he wasnt there .... my non-food reward is going to be a clean house!!!!!
BOB: {{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{GIGANTIC OCTOPUS HUGS}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} i hope u feel better soon!!

HEY!! NEW SMILIES!! :woo:
Well, next time I come across a grit, I'll put butter on it. I remembered what I put on my grits now...it was syrup. Bleh! I would have rather had home fries for this north country chick!! ;) No offense to my grit eating friends...I think it's an acquired taste...
Anyhow...I have a quick update...I tried Port the other day. DS stayed over at gramma's house and I always take that opportunity to come slightly unhinged. :s: It was really good, if not maybe a tiny bit rich for me...I'm more a zinfandel kinda girl. But I like just about ALL wine, red, white, blush you name it. But they teach so much about how bad alcohol is to the kids in school, I can't in good conscience drink much in front of my DD. I appreciate their efforts as I don't want my DD or DS to be found with other kids doing bad things in the dried up bass ponds we have here (which is the popular place for kids to go do bad things), BUT, it's a hard thing to explain, "Do as I say, not as I do"...I'm sure you guys can relate. Anyhow...the port was deelish!! DS goes to bed early and drops like a rock when he's down, so he's none the wiser...for the time being...
Anyhow...another development is my mom brought over some jeans I gave her last summer that I could not even get up my hips, much less zip or button them, much less breathe in the dern things. So, my mom has lost over 50lbs since last spring and they are now too big for her, so she brought them back to my house...and I'm wearing them...and breathing at the same time!! Buttoned!! They're even comfy!! So, that's good news, even if I haven't lost a pound in a few weeks again.
BOB: National Treasure DOES look good! I love Nicholas Cage and I think one of the guys from Lord of the Rings is in it, too. I'll have to definitely rent it!
Monet: Oh...it's like you've been sitting in my shoes or something!! I'm ALWAYS up for going out to dinner and my DH is always sick to death of it. And wthen he gets depressed in hotels, "here I am, sitting in the hotel, getting room service again," and he's all moping around and I have the dog peeing on the floor, DS screaming because the dog is jumping on him, DD complaining of period cramps, both kids complaining that the other isn't sharing, nobody willing to go up and get ready for bed, nobody eating what's been served for dinner..you know, the usual atmosphere in most homes with kids :dizzy: , I'm thinking...don't go crying to me about how tough it is to be sitting in a quiet room with a bathtub ready for a bubble bath and someone bringing you your dinner in a covered platter... But I also know that it gets old after a while. Its funny, though, to hear him complain about being bored...I'd be in the tub with a bottle of port and my Clive Cussler books!! Then I'd watch the movie of my choice and have a big juicy steak!! I could manage that for nights and nights and never get sick of it...till I started to miss the kids, which would take about 15 mins...
Laurie:  Nice to see you around!!
Okay...I have to go look for something for dinner. Talk to you guys later!!
Ellen

TECH: Syrup? No wonder you didn't like grits! Gator is right...butter. A little lake of butter. Its the best comfort food around- grits with a lake of butter. I could go fix a bowl of it right now. What kind of port did you get? My favorite right now is Fonseca Bin 27. My son brought home two new pricy ones for us to try. I am with you...give me a good book, and a bottle of port, and I am happy as can be. It would take me longer than 15 minutes to miss MY kids... Sometimes I entertain thoughts of them moving out and being here ALL alone with my wonderful hubby. Teenagers are God's way of getting you prepared for the empty nest...
HEART: Good to see you! I hope you don't get lost again! :)
Time to go check on the duxelles. Its simmering to reduce the juices. Smells heavenly. When I have made this dish before, I never used wine in the mushrooms, and I think it really adds something. :hungry:

I am one lazy mama this evening. The cornbread got me. :) I couldn't pass it up....so warm and delicious. It was full of corn, jalapenos and cheddar cheese. My daughter came and saw me today. She brought me the prettiest pink roses for Mother's day. She has to work Sunday so she made a special trip out this afternoon.
Tech....grilled lettuce isn't a southern dish. I saw it on the cooking channel. My kids love grits. Their favorite are cheesy grits. A perfect breakfast would be ham, fried eggs, grits with red eye gravy and some warm biscuits. I don't like grits from resturants but love the homemade ones. WOO HOO on getting into your old jeans!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Monet...Your dinner sounds yummy. I love mushroom.
Bob...sorry to hear you are still having a rough time of it. ((hugzz))
Sebray....congratulations on finishing up your finals. Enjoy your vacation.
Heart...good to see you. Your friends are right you are beautiful and look so thin. But I also understand how you feel. Even though you'd like to lose 20 more try to take a less critical look at yourself....yeah I know the pot calling the kettle black. :)
Poncho...just think there is no where left but up. ((hugzz)) Hope you feel better soon.
Love and hugs,

Oh my! I ate a beef Wellington tonight...with roasted asparagus, salad and a glass of red wine. It was so good! I made a Madiera sauce for the Wellingtons and it went very well with them. The roasted asparagus was SO easy and absolutely delicious! All you do is snap off the woody ends, wash them, then put them on a foil lined baking sheet, drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with kosher salt. Roll them back and forth to cover them evenly with the oil and salt, then roast them in a 425 degree oven for 10 to 15 minutes, depending on the size of the spears. Incredible! I need to add something else to the plate, and I am thinking twice baked potatoes. Roasted new potatoes would be good too...
Hey, check out the new smilies! :tantrum: :woo: :ebike: :barf: :wl: How fun!
Not much else is happening around here. I need to go clean up in the kitchen. Its a disaster area! I was cooking all afternoon! Tom thinks I need to go get more beef tenderloin, so I will probably try and get that done tomorrow afternoon. I found I got way too many boxes of puff pastry. I actually got four Wellingtons from one sheet, so I only need five boxes instead of ten. That will save me some $$! I love doing this kind of stuff. I feel like I have accomplished something when its over! Am I crazy?
I will try and get back later for replies...the dirty kitchen needs some attention now though!

Tomorrows Friday...Yippee yeah!
Another beautiful day and the temps are on the rise ! Sunday its suppose to get all the way up to 80 ! My dd and I just got back from our power walk. It felt really good to be outside doing something healthy. Ive had a very busy week at work but its been a little less stressful which has been a great relief.
Tech- glad you got your car done and it wasnt anything major. Where do you live that you have to have inspections of your car? Is that a yearly thing? I remember when I live in Ca we had to pass smog tests but since Ive been in Ind ..no more of those. Yeah on the jeans. Thats exciting!!
Hi Thinwithin- glad your back !
Sebray- hope your arms not numb anymore. Ive been waking up almost every morning with both my hands and arms numb. Dont know what the heck Im doing to cause that.

CINDY: Grits are the same texture as cream of wheat...or close. You can get them up there, cause we used to buy them in Chicago all the time. Everyone should try them at least once! :) They are not as bad as another southern favorite, boiled okra. Now THAT is an acquired taste. I love it, but most people don't like the slimy texture. :) I am glad your weather is improving! Ours has not been so great today...overcast, cool and rainy! :( Your colors look very nice! Isn't it fun?
COUNTRY: Ah, grits and red eye gravy...yum! I can settle for a lake of butter though! :)

Its a slow week without Jack and Fillise posting! This morning is my volunteer stint at the church office, so I am about to leave.
Breakfast was three eggs, and two cinnamon toasts. I used the cinnamon Nature's Own bread, and added more cinnamon and a dab of agave to sweeten it a bit. Yum! I am having lunch with a lady from church at my favorite Japanese place, and will endeavor to behave! :)
I hope everyone is doing well. I will check in when I get home this afternoon!

Hope everyone is having a good Friday and on their way to a GREAT weekend! Mine will be busy, but hopefully I can get in some rest. We have so much going on. Band banquet, dance recitals, field days at school, family weddings...AAHHH! I will be glad when we get out for Summer Break! I am a school nurse so I get a break in the summer as well. :D
There was an article in our local paper about a contest called "In my South". It was a short essay contest and I thought those of you from down here in the South might enjoy reading the winner's entry-
In My South we eat four chili dogs, two orders of fries, a milkshake, and a "Diet Coke" to make it all okay. In My South any kind of soft drink is a "Coke" and in My South when you turn a tea glass upside down the tea drips out of the glass slowly. In My South everything is "Down the road a piece" no matter how far it really is. In My South barbecue is a main food group. In My South overalls are a necessity in every wardrobe. In My South we know that skiing means on the water, not snow, and skating means on wheels, not ice. In My South summer lasts from April to October. In My South we ask "How ya doin'?" and care enough to wait for the answer. In My South we show respect by stopping for funeral processions, saying "Yes, Mam" and "Yes, Sir" and waiting quietly while someone prays. In My South we love God, our family, and our country. In My South we smile when we see each other. In My South we don't have grandmothers and grandfathers; we have Memaw, Big Momma, Pawpaw and Big Poppa. In My South we have enough common sense to stop everything if we see a flake of snow. In My South we know that sittin' under the mimosa tree, sippin' a glass of tea, while watchin' the children play is the way to pass the day. In My South we take care of our family if they are sick or old. In My South everyone's dream car is a truck. And in my South it is okay if your daddy is a blue collar man. My name is Heather Sanford and this is My South.

Yep--that's true about the South. That's why I love it here. Although Florida is not exactly a "true" southern state. Too many Yankees have moved here to get away from the cold winters.
Cindy, yes, grits is similar to Cream of Wheat, except that it is just slightly "grittier." LOL Cream of wheat is slightly smoother, probably because the grains are just a skosh smaller. Everyone should try grits just once, with that lake of butter. Mmmmm.
Okra, now that's another subject. You see them boiled with tomatoes down here in God's country. My DH loves them. For me, they are too slimy like that. So I pan fry them, for the one time a year that I fix them. The way to do this is to cut the okra up and then sprinkly white water ground corn meal over them. Shake just to coat and then put them in a skillet with a little oil. High heat, enough to brown slightly. Then salt them and cover the pan to cook them through. Serve. Mmmmm. The corn meal takes all the slimyness away. But, of course, they are not legal on a SB food plan.
Monet--the beef wellington sounds great. I'd love to be able to do stuff like that for our church, but we don't have a kitchen there. Everything has to be catered in. Too bad. They are talking about building another building with a kitchen. That would be great!
We are going on a rose picnic tomorrow with a group from the Rose Society here in town. Going up to Ocala to look at 3 big and fabulous rose gardens. Will have a picnic lunch at one of them. We are sharing the picnic with another couple: rare peppered beef, white bean salad, roasted red pepper tart, fruit and whatever. We are taking a bottle of GOOD champagne.
My DD's bf is staying here in our house now, and will be here while we are gone. He is a talker and we spent the morning yakking in the kitchen. He has always "sounded good" and I hope that the "pudding" proves to be good after they are married.
Country--I think my friend who fixed the grilled lettuce got the recipe off the food channel too.
Jackie--Have a great time at the Derby.
Heart--Hope you have a great healthy eating weekend.
Have a great day everyone.

Good morning everyone!
I have my follow-up appt. and ultrasound at the gynecologist this morning. I have to take Lane with me, and it will be during her regular naptime, so it s/b interesting; she can be a real handful when she is tired....heck, she is a handful when she isn't tired  .
Well, my 2cents worth.....GRITS...YUCK!!! I have tried them, and this Southwest gal does not like them at all. I wouldn't waste one calorie on them. ON the other hand, pass the boiled okra...I love it....smear on the butter and salt, and slurp it down. I like fried okra too.
The bacteria infection is taking its sweet time to clear up. My throat is almost all better, but my mouth still feels funny; the back of my throat and tongue fell like I burned them. It is so strange.
I was at 120# today, but I ate a lot for dinner. I made a new recipe that I will post because it was so good. I can't remember where I found it, but it was some type of pasta pie. You take thin WW spag noodles and cook them, according to directions and then mix with eggs and parmesan cheese to make the crust. When that has cooked for a little while, you spread lite cream cheese on top of that, and then frozen (thawed) spinach, and then top with beef or turkey sauce and then add some mozz cheese and bake. It was so good. I had that with Caesar salad and french bread. It was a great dinner, and the kids even liked it. It was great to see them stuffing that spinach in their mouths.
Monet: Wow, I wonder what would make the pastry go up so much in price. Your dinner sounds wonderful. I usually steam my asparagus. But, I like the way it sounds when you cook them...yum!
Heart: Glad you are doing better with your eating. 163 isn't so bad. You will get down below 160 again soon. Peanut M&M's are my downfall. I usually keep the little snack bags of them around for a treat every once in awhile. You know your body better than anyone, so you know what/where you need to lose. But, just remember your body sometimes has other ideas. You may bottom out where you body thinks you need to. Also, you may lose that 20#'s and still not be happy with some of those areas. I am still not happy with my stomach. I know I have loose skin there, but I also feel like any weight that I have is in my stomach, and my back too. But, I have learned to accept, because I can't change it. I will just continue to workout to stay healthy and to keep from gaining weight. Glad to see you back!
Sebray: Thanks for the info. on Devon. It's tough to see your kids go through that stuff. Lane has to follow-up in three months to see if she needs to be patched. I sure hope not. If your reward is a clean house, then who's cleaning it? Glad you are finished with your finals....relax!
Tech: I'm right there with you on those grits...yuck! I like Chardonnay. I have tried many port wines and haven't liked any of them; they taste like cough syrup. I think a glass, in moderation, isn't going to have an impact on your kids. It's rare that I drink, but sometimes if we go out to dinner, I'll get a margarita or daquiri or something. My Dh usually has a beer or two every evening. But, I understand where you are coming from. That's one of the reasons I gave up soda. Other kids are drinking it, and my kids are wanting it. I can't tell them they can't have it and then drink it myself. Congrats on those jeans!!!
Country: Cornbread wouldn't tempt me as much as a fresh loaf of bread right out of the oven, and then I could eat the entire loaf (ha). You have been doing so well; I hope you enjoyed your little indulgence.
Cindy: Glad you got your power walk in; it always feels so good!
Thin: Loved the "In My South" entry. My mom is from Texas, so I could totally relate to a lot of it.
Gator: Have a great time at your picnic!
Well, I gotta go get ready to go to the doctor.
Have a great OP day.
IF I DON'T GET BACK ON THIS WEEKEND, HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO ALL YOU MOMMIES OUT THERE!!!

well this morning was fun lol...had to clean my kitchen and livingroom cause i was having company....got my kitchen clean and sat down for a 15 min break before i started on the living room (i still had an hour before company was supposed to be there) and kevin said ""their here!!!" so mad dash for me in my pjs running around grabbing big stuff out of the living room and then running to the bedroom to put clothes on lol...good thing they only stayed for a few mins :) when they left i worked on my site for a bit...added a page with a little bit of info about me and a page about devon's journey with his mental illnesses. their not near done but their up and started lol
im going to try to find some pictures of us to post for u guys today :)
Thin: i see those commercials all the time on tv...i 'think' their on TNT but im not sure...i love them though, they're so true :)
Pancho: if she does have to be patched, ask the doc if she can just wear it at home...i really think that makes all the difference on whether or not the adjust well to wearing glasses...peer pressure is so hard for kids at this age....Im going to be the one to clean my house...heck, i always am lol...i figured out a fun way for the kids to clean their rooms though...we call it 'boogieing'...i took everything they had on the floor, under the beds, in the closets and dumped it all into a pile in the middle of their floors and about 4 or 5 times a day i tell them to go boogy.....they go in their rooms and pick up as many pieces as they are old (dev gets 8 and aidan gets 5) and they have to put them where they belong....i told them i wasnt going to tell them to just go clean their rooms anymore....its been almost 3 weeks now and the piles have gotten tons smaller and both the boys love to boogy...so i think im going to keep it lol now i just have to convince them to boogy the rest of the house hehe
im sitting here waiting on my school to post my grades online but the danged websit has been down all day  i did manage to see my history grade though!! A- :D doing good so far, but ill feel better once all the grades are in
need to go find something for lunch and maybe lay down for a bit, i didnt get enough sleep last night i think :(

Hi all,
I won't be able to post everyday, but I'll try to keep up. :)
Thanks to those who post their menus for the day. It gives me some ideas. I'm back to having smoothies in the morning (1/2c milk, 1/2c yogurt, protein powder, +2-3 frozen fruit pieces). I make up about 4 at a time, and take one down from the freezer the night before. Still not consistent, but being more vigilant over what I eat.
Signing off, Tree

Hey everyone! Just got in from lunch, and taking a walk with my friend from church. Lunch was honey shrimp on brown rice...they told me it was not very sweet, but it was! :( - it sure was excellent though! The owners specialty!.... a California roll, hot green tea, miso soup and a salad with ginger dressing. I don't think I will have much appetite for dinner tonight.
I sure wish I could convince the owners to try making brown rice sushi. That would rock and I would be able to stay on program when I go there! :)
We walked around my friend's neighborhood. Its nice, as they have sidewalks all around. Its a very hilly area though, and I tried to maneuver the walk so we would not have to go up or down any really steep hills! Well, ok, UP the hills, who cares about down? :s:
I went to the Asian market and got more beef tenderloin for Monday. I need to cut it up and get it in the marinade, then sear it and freeze it. I got more mushrooms and shallots to make more duxelles too. I can't wait to see how it all comes off!
I will be back later...I need to plan something for dinner.

2 days in-a-row posting! The scale was kind to me this morning, read 161. So getting alot better. I had a sf yogurt and navel orange with a cup of skim milk for bf, lunch was McDonald's Grilled Bacon Ranch salad with 1/2 or less packet of Caesar dressing. Not for sure what supper will be, probably Mexican. If so, I'll order the chicken fajitas minus the tortillas AND the beans. I recently read how much fat can be in those restaurant beans, that I'll pass. Besides, they already put a good bit of oil in the meat and veggies. I'm hoping I'll see 160 before the weekend is over. And that is with us going out tomorrow night and having a few beers. Yep, I know, illegal, but I do order the Michelob Ultra which is a better choice. I didn't have time to exercise today, so I'm feeling guilty. Maybe I can squeeze a workout in sometime this weekend. I don't have much to report. Just checking in.
Speaking of grits, they're "okay", but I prefer oatmeal.
Very true about the In my South, although I can honestly say that I do NOT own any overalls. Hehe..I'm a country girl with a cityslicker edge.
National Treasure- seen it at the movies, very good. The kids and I watched Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events. Very cute.

Good Morning! I am gearing up for a busy day. I have laundry going, just finished making breakfast for Tom, and am compiling a list of all the errands I have to run...like going to the paper store for disposable wine glasses, and stuff. Busy busy! :) Keeps me out of trouble!
Breakfast was three eggs, 1 piece of Nature's Own cinnamon bread toasted, and a cup of espresso with cream. :coffee: I am NOT addicted to coffee again, thankfully, but it sure was good!
I am trying to decide whether or not to cancel my Curves membership. I have not been in two months. I got sick two months ago, then it seemed there was one big deal after another, and I did not have a car while Laura was using mine so much. I could go back now, but I am not sure I want to spend the money. There are other things I could use it for, and I could work out with weights and walk without paying anything. I need to decide soon, but I keep going back and forth....
A young man from church is coming over to help Tom with the plumbing, so I need to go get the next load of laundry started so when they turn off the water, it will be done. :) I will be back later! I hope I won't be talking to myself!

Wow its been a great day here today, 70's and sunny. I went and got my hair cut this morning after grocery shopping and then came home and spent an hour cleaning veges. Cleaning veges forever seems to be my Saturday morning thing to do lol. Not that I enjoy it but Its just so much eaiser to do it all at once and then I know when I grab them to cook dinner their all nice and clean but what a pain when doing it.
Then in the afternoon we went over to my folks to do some yard work there and have dinner with my Mom. My dad is back in the hospital again. Things just are not looking well. Its only been about 6 weeks since the last time he was in and now Ive lost count on how many times he has been in since November.
So went spent the evening after dinner at the hospital visiting with my dad for a while. Now we are home relaxing.
I have to be honest and say Ive been slipping back up on the fat% and lower carbs. I started out trying it for a few days and added the coconut oil which upped it even more and just kept on keeping on. Not been having any success. But last week I decided to start out on the higher numbers and see what the scale did , nothing really ...and the last few days I lowered all the fats and upped the carbs and the scale started moving. So Thats the plan of attack now is to get back to the lower fats. Im gonna try my hardest to keep everything in the 30% range for fats at least the majority of the week.
Monet- walking up those hills is great for the legs. On the walks Ive been taking with my dd we have to go up two long inclines and one BIG hill and I definity am seeing it in my legs. Im sure my hearts liking it to !
Hi to everyone.. well I must head off for now am exhausted and going to go be a couch potato! Have a good rest of your weekend !

Happy Mother's Day to all the moms! Isn't it sad? Here it is, only 7:40 and I am too awake to sleep in. Tom is going to make me some espresso, and after we drink it, he will make me some breakfast. He is not going to even try to get James or Laura up to help. Then tend to stay up very late, and sleep in, so it would be an exercise in futility. :) Its ok, he is really good at frying eggs!
It won't be much of a holiday here...I have a ton of work to do for tomorrow!

Happy mother's day to all the people on this board who have moms. And I think that probably includes us all, LOL :) Some of us have moms in heaven, and have those precious memories that we hold in our heart. And others of us are still building those memories with our moms here on earth. I used to hate mothers' day, because it was all about moms, moms, moms, and I wasn't one, and wanted to be one very badly. It was always a painful Sunday for me. So I can understand the emotions of those who are in this particular boat right now. The other thing about mom's day is that it can easily be a set-up to get our feelings hurt. If somehow our DH or DD or DS doesn't meet what our expectation is for this day, then everyone loses. I almost wish they didn't have this particular "holiday."
Today, my two grown kids came over with their respective significant others and cleaned my garage. That is a yearly tradition now. My DD's sig. other helped us put a net over our pond so that a big white heron won't fish out our pond while we are gone. In the process he tripped over and broke a really neat big ceramic gator on our patio. My DH loved that gator. The boyfriend says he will glue it all together, but it is in a bajillion pieces. They all gave me gifts, which they didn't have to do. My greatest desire is to have a good close relationship with each of them, even the signif. others (SOs). That is the best gift.
Anyway, those are my mothers day thoughts, and I'm posting them late, so they probably won't get read by many.
My DH is totally stressed out over a big project he is still working on for one of his clients, and he is at the office slaving away on it, and probably won't be back until midnight. Poor thing. It's gotta be tough.
Eating was OK today, but no exercise to mention. I may or may not have time to get on the board tomorrow. I'm still packing and getting organized. I know Susan is having a great time in Italy right now, and 3 days from now hope to be doing the same thing in France. Ciao, y'all.

Just got in from church. We went to a Chinese restaurant afterwards. I got a scallop dish that was like moo goo gai pan, only with scallops. It was not what I ordered, but it was good. I had ordered a scallop ball dish...which should have been different. Oh well!
I cooked potatoes and sliced them today for the dinner, and cut up and marinaded the last tenderloin. I need to sear the pieces, but I am too lazy. :) I sent Laura to the store for the stuff I needed, which helped a lot. All I have to pick up tomorrow is the roses at Costco and a bottle of Madiera at the liquour store. I hope it all comes out ok. I am not necessarily the most organized person, so I have been making lists and time lines...:lol3:
I hope everyone had a good day. I got a call from my older daughter, since she had to work tonight and could not make it in to see me. Tom made me breakfast in bed, and was so sweet all day...the worship service tonight had totally awesome music. Monet is a happy camper! :)
