Default New FDA Food Pyramid

http://mypyramid.gov/

It sure looks a lot like South Beach, doesn't it?

I know Canada is working on something similar. Maybe this will spur them to issue it.

I saw this yesterday when it was announced and was very pleased. It's about time that old pyramid was updated to a healthier lifestyle.

Seriously - is this something that kids will remember though? I would think maybe a Food Pie Chart would be better (oh, don't say PIE!)

I remember the four food groups. My daughter spent about a month it seemed learning the Pyramid (which we had to tell her that we ate a little different than it said - but assured her we were still eating healthy!)

The pyramid is updated - but the problem still lies with society. So many people still live off of a meat and potatoes kind of diet, and most of that fried! Snacks are a HUGE business as well.

I'm not arguing the pyramid, just wonder what can be done to jumpstart America into realizing they need to be healthier!

I remember when I was in elementary/middle school in the 70s - the food piramid was so simple... 4-4-3-2 ... we had an educaitonal show with live action, music and comic books to help us remember - called Mulligan Stew. Anyone remember that show? LOL Times sure have changed!
