South Beach Diet - Tuesday Temptation Chat 4-19

Good Morning one and all.
My worse temptations are ice cream, potato chips and, and, and...LOL
Temptations are a sign that we need to take some time to focus.
Think.
Realize.
Today I am putting me to the test.
I play cards and eat out.
I will NOT give in to temptations.
I hope all of you have a happy day and that your temptations are overcome easily.
Lady

I match your temptations and raise you baked goods, (donuts, pastry, bagels, basically any kind of confection!)
I too have to resist temptation. Everyday at work the Teachers Aid brings in 2 boxes of assorted donuts and muffins and just leaves them there for anyone that wants one. I used to give in back when I weighed 155. But now that I am struggling to get down to 145, I am resisting. It is difficult, I don't know what I would do without my cheese stick stash at work!
Have a fabulous day chicks. Its Day 2 of P1 for me today. I am having eggs for breakfast, leftovers for lunch and chicken for dinner. I can do this. I haven't seen 145 on the scale in probably 7 years, and that sad because I just turned 24!
See you on the beach. I'll be the one hiding behind my huge towel! hehe

Today will be so busy I won't even notice temptations unless one of the cabana boys hits on me!
I am off to the Greenhouse for the morning, Harry has to be taken to the dentist for noon and then we go to the Library. Somewhere in there I need to make dogfood and plant some pansies!
Have a great Tuesday.

Good morning!!! I'm taking a "mental health" day off today. A day just for ME!! So, I'm going to get the pots and dirt and plant all my veggie plants, get my house cleaned up and just enjoy some fresh air. Temptations? Oh, they are everywhere. My daughter was whining for Burger King last night...over the weekend, hubby went to Dairy Queen. I think just having a plan helps. Knowing in advance what you're going to do helps.
Good luck ladies....have a great day on the beach!!!!

Temptations! It really hasn't been that bad - more mental than actual body cravings (which I know can be harder!)
I ate my choco cake Sunday - and told DH to save me a small piece for later that night. I didn't feel like eating it, so I knew I couldn't have it Monday. I saw it sitting there and I don't want to eat it! How does that happen???
I crave chocolate and chips. I also crave cheese - but I get that!!!
Ruth: Have a fun day - making dog food? I've thought about doing that. Is it a dry food or are they on a raw food diet?
Jamie: You avoid those donuts!!! What Bamie said was great! I think it's great that you are trying to get this in control so young! It's easier that way.
Lady: Hope you win at cards! Thanks for the morning thoughts
Bamie: Enjoy the game - she plays a lot, huh? DS had practice last night but we missed it. He's a sick kiddo.
Jenn: ENJOY your day off! DH took one yesterday and we really enjoyed it (except for the sick kid to take care of.)
Me - DD is taking her reading TAKS test today (state testing), DS (4) is sick with a fever and a bad cough. I'm trying to get him in the Dr. today. Poor guy! I'm doing OK today, I have a problem with my left eye - I got some confetti in it about a month ago, and it was irritated, then just occassionally sore. Today it hurts like a stye, but I'm thinking maybe the confetti is now under my lid... I know nothing about eyes. It's not like I have time to go to the DR. myself you know!
I'm losing again :) Almost to the 3 lb mark (I started at 255.4, but I just say 255 for recording purposes! I'm 252.6, but I won't say I've lost 3 until I hit 252 on the nose! So only about half a pound.)

Have a great day everyone! The sun is shining and it's going to be 80 degrees here!!
My temptations are chocolate and Doritos and fast food french fries.
I'm going to work all day today and then I have to pack for our trip to Splash Lagoon. Can't wait!! :)

Good Morning Chickadees!!!
I have miss you all so much! I have had a crazy life these past weeks and it seems it aint slowing down any time soon. I started exercising yesterday though, I am really proud of myself. I have a Gazelle and I did 14 minutes keeping it over 3 miles an hour so I think that is pretty good for my sedentary butt! :)
I really have missed coming on here and talking to you guys! I will check back in later...
As for temptation...oh my! I don't have really bad temptations, so I would my worst one is pizza. So I just make a whole wheat one once a week and do away with it!
I am still trying to master my plateau and I think I have figured out all the bugs. I haven't been eating enough veggies, I just haven't had the time. Mostly cause I haven't had time to go to the store (big store). My little market across the street has limited veggies. I can't eat a lot of them raw like broccoli or cauliflower cause it makes me really gassy and it is very painful. I don't have a gallbladder and it just doesn't digest the same way with fresh veggies.
I am so committed to this and knowing that I am 2 months in and still this determined makes me feel even more committed than ever! I have never been this resolute, so I am pretty pumped.
Anway...have a lovely day on the beach...hugs

Morning! I'm up a little this morning. My doctor suggested I eat more salty food yesterday (just for a day or two to get my blood pressure up a bit) and I think I am retaining water. I'm in the office today and I always do better drinking enough there.
Tonight is Cub Scouts. I've got to find a song for the meeting. Maybe something camping related. Cross your fingers, please, they are predicting rain for Friday night and Saturday. Our Spring campout last year actually got rained out. We woke up at 2 in the morning with water over our sleeping bags. I DON'T want a repeat of that.

Good morning everyone. It is a nice day here...won't be any where near the 80s, but for us, it is nice. Sun is shining, a bit of frost on the grass and a nip in the air. Spring is here. At least it isn't snowing - yet. We should still get one last dump before the good temps actually arrive. We're waiting.
Lady - Thanks for the inspiration this morning. Do take care and remain focused when you are tempted today, and everyday.
Jamie - I know what you mean about the cheese stash. I have the same - one at work, one in my purse, one in the bedroom  I couldn't get through those temptations without being allowed to snack on something that I enjoy, too. I guess that's where your mind plays with deprivation. As long as I can have something (besides carrot sticks ;) ), I seem to get over the feelings that everyone else is enjoying something and I am deprived because I am watching my weight.
Ruth - Have a fun day at the Greenhouse...are there really cabana boys there?
Bamiegurl - Sounds like a fun day puttering. It seems that when I take a day to putter, I get too much puttering done and nothing constructive. They are the fun days, though.
butterflykisses - Enjoy your 'me' day. I have needed one for a very long time, but can't fit one in just yet. I am hoping that, when I am off sick next week that I will take a few of those days and hope that everyone leaves me alone. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
HottieInHiding - Do go see a dr. about the eye. DH did a similar thing recently and ended up with an abscess on his eyeball. He actually went to emergency at the hospital and they misdiagnosed the problem, but I insisted that he go to our ophthmologist who ended up sending him to another specialist. Take care of your eyes.
MallynAllysmom - I envy the 80 degrees. We will be lucky to be over 50 today, but even that feels good here. Have a good day at work.
Tara - I went and read the info about the ab lounger and a lot of the reviews. One fitness trainer was advising that it does give a good workout, but wouldn't recommend it for everyone. The main caution when using it is to make sure that you don't hyperextend at either end of the movement. Other than that, the trainer said that it has positives, too. For people who have joint and back problems, where getting down to the floor is a problem, it is a good solution and gives the same workout. Better reviews than many of the other gadgets out there.
beach bum - Hope you are feeling better soon. This has gone on for quite a while. Congrats on the weight loss. Take even the single pounds, they all count towards the final goal.
Sunnybunny - You have already done an amazing job with the weight loss. Keep it up. I think you are right. I find that, when I don't eat enough veggies, it seems to stall my weight loss, regardles of whether I am OP, or not. Keep up the exercise, too. That will also help.
Me - Not too much here. DH's twin brother came into town last night, so we went out for dinner with him and his wife. However, I did have all day to plan what I would eat. I decided that last night would be a treat night, within reason. I had potatoes (which I rarely eat), lots of veggies, fish, chicken and goulash. Add the dessert to that, and I would say that I pretty much made the most of my treat evening. Today it is back to the beach and exercise.
Tomorrow, I have to go to the hospital to a pre-admission clinic. Hopefully that won't take too long and that it won't ruin the entire day. Will let you know more later.
Hope everyone has a great day on the beach. Take care.

Good morning everyone!!!
Temptations.....lots - greasy fried foods, sweets, and the frozen sweet drinks. Ugh! I try to stay away from the temptations by reminding myself that no food taste as good as the feeling of wearing clothes that fit! Sometimes it works.....
I visited my little niece, Kloe yesterday. She's a handful. We danced and played with her new puppy. She's crazy, but I had lots of fun with her.
Today I'm doing some laundry & then off to work I go - nothing exciting.
Hope you ladies avoiding your temptations & have a great OP day!

I keep telling myself to just stick with it, that it'll eventually rekick back into losing....anyone else have these times where the weight just seems to stop coming off for a period of time? :(

Barbara: Still looking for a song?? Do you know the one about the Bear? I did songs last night with my Girl Scouts and this was in the book. They repeat after you. 'The other day.... I saw a bear... a great big bear... oh way up there.' Then you sing it all together. I have a Funny Song Book from the Lilbrary - I could scan it and send it to you. There is also "Going on a Bear Hunt"
Hello to all who checked in after me!
SweetTooth - thanks for the warning. I'll try to get an appt. for Thursday when DS goes back to school. Would it be an optholomologist or could and optomotrist look at it? Our insurance won't cover a visit to the optho if it's something the opto could do!!! My daughter's orthopedic dr. wanted her to go to an optho. to look for a certain eye problem, but ins. wouldn't cover it. We have a good opto. and she knew what to look for. She also said she could refer us to the optho. if the problem was there - then ins would cover it! Just jumping through hoops!!!
It's a lazy day - I feel like I'm the one home sick! I could be doing more, but enjoying hanging out with DS on the couch watching cartoons! I should do laundry though..... :fr:

Just a quick plop on the beach. My hubby is out of town so I'm going to paint my bedroom. Sage green with a faux finish. I have a friend coming by at 4:00 to help with the faux part because I haven't a clue. She swears it's easy.
Struggling to resist temptation............I do so much better when I drink the water I'm supposed to drink....sooooooooooooo, I've got my container out on the counter and gonna down it............my bedroom is right next to the bathroom, thank goodness.
Have a great!

Thanks for the offer but I found It's To the Woods We Go which is to the tune of It's Off to Work We Go. That should work and they can even sing it at the pack meeting during campout this weekend. I get a lot of scouting songs from the internet as well as the books I get from the monthly cub scout roundtable.
As far as your eye, I see an optometrist. He has treated me for eye irritation that turned out to be a corneal ulcer as well as for eye infections. Mine is in a practice with an opthamologist so it makes it easy if one is needed but he has always been able to handle my eye problems himself. Don't let it go untreated.

Hey Everyone!
I've been a bad, bad girl the past few weeks. Let me just say that my life has been CRAZY! :dizzy: I guess the last time I checked in was right before my vacation which was great. I went to 2 Buffett concerts and Laughlin all in one week. I had a great time until we got a phone call that my grandmother had fallen in the parking lot of the store and broke her hip. She's in rehab now but we are scrambling around trying to find an assisted living place that will take her. She's not exactly the nicest lady in the world and people are having a lot of problems with her at the care center (and when she was in the hospital).
I've also been dealing with the craziest wedding I've ever done. This was the one where we had to wear corsets and a camera crew from HBO was out taping everything. Dealing with these people have been hard on me emotionally because they are so uncooperative (the bride and groom...not the camera crew). Let's just say that they're not in their right mind at any time (lotsa drugs involved with them). It's over now and the wedding actually went off well (other than having to keep picking up the bride because she kept falling down). It's one for the books!
I've also been dealing with my kitchen. All that's in my kitchen at the moment is a fridge. No counters, no sink, no microwave, NOTHING! I haven't been able to stay on any kind of eating plan at all and won't dare to even get back on the scale. My ticker is definitely not correct! I really want to get back OP soon as I feel terrible. My jeans that were loose are not anymore. :( The good news is that cabinets are going in next week finally! We're scrambling trying to get everything else done before then. DH put in all the recessed lighting and hung sheet rock where we've had to demo things. A drywall guy came over the weekend and finished the walls and ceiling for us (no more cottage cheese). Now it's onto painting! This has really become a remodel of the entire downstairs and I can't wait until it's done. If I get a chance later, I'll attach a pic as to what it looks like now. I need to unload my digital camera.
That's pretty much what I've been up to! I've been thinking of all of you and hope to get done with everything soon and back OP. I miss hearing what all of you are up to!!!
I've got to get going for now but will try to check in when I can! :)

Hey CJ - I grew up in Ventura (Oak View really, but went to Ventua High) Just saw you were in Oxnard and thought, Cool!
Sounds like some time you've been having! Do you get to be on TV now? Let us know! LOL!
I would take a few days to feel settled and start eating normal... then work your way back into the plan.
Hope all goes well with your grandma - I understand what you are talking about.
Talk to you later :) Christy

CJ.....It's sooooo gooood to see you back! I've been wondering about you. I finally posted pics of my kitchen last week sometime. Actually I posted a link to go to a page to look at them and my yard. Hope all goes well with Dear Grandma. Let us know when that is gonna be on HBO! I can't wait to see it!
Well DD must have left her head in the car when she went to soccer practice yesterday because I find out this morning that their game has been changed to tomorrow night!UGh! These chittlins of today! lol So no game but practice still. Well I better get her bag together or she won't even do that! lol Looks like all is well on the beach today. No waves have over taken me! lol Check y'all later!

Christy-I just went through Oak View over the weekend up to The Ranch House in Ojai for my wedding (I'm a wedding planner) I did! I grew up in Newbury Park and went to high school there! That's great to know you grew up around here!
I believe the wedding will eventually be on HBO and will be called "Outlaws in Love." I'll let everyone know when it's going to be on.
I will eventually ease back into the diet but not yet. I'm attempting to stay somewhat OP, but I've eaten enough FRASSING FRANKENFOOD to make poor Ruth's head spin!!!
Bamie-I went back through the posts and looked at your pics. I love your house!!! It has such southern charm and the trees....OMG....it's like living in a forest. I wish I had a yard like yours!!!! My in-laws live in Minnesota in a tiny little town. Their nearest neighbor is a few miles away so it kind of looks like your yard....just colder I'm sure! I love the colors you have in your house!
Here's a pic of what my kitchen looks like now:

Yes we have lots of trees...tooooo many trees! Alot of the flowers and bushes will not bloom like they should because of all the shade. But it is nice to just go out and walk around the yard and feel like your in the country with the city close by! haha Don't sweat the eatin you'll get back on track. I'm still recoverin from my week and a half at Mom's while she was sick. Glad you had a good time bein a parrot head! lol
Well I just roped DH in to pickin up DD on his way home so that saves me another trip out that way! lol Y'all chicks take it easy and have a good evening. I'll be glued to the tube...American Idol, The Amazing Race and then Judging Amy! lol
