Hello all!!!

I just thought I'd start a post for all the P1 people who were going to be starting today! (I started last week, but I'm adding another week due to my decision to have cake yesterday!) I know Jenn (Butterfly kisses) was starting a new 2 weeks today and I saw some others posting as well.

So how are you doing? What are you eating today?

B'fast - mushroom, onion, canadian bacon scramble w/ V8
Snack - laughing cow light and raw broccoli
Lunch - Grilled Chicken Salad w/ CarbWell Light dressing
Snack - Natural PB w/ a slice of low fat cheddar
Dinner - Roasted Turkey Breast and Steamed Asparagus
Dessert - SF Jello or SF Fudgesicle

PLUS - about 80 oz of water :)

Last week on Phase one was great! I really didn't have cravings - if anything stress made me want to have the food, but my body didn't really. I handled eating out and watching my DD eat a big gooey brownie. I did have SF wheat buns w/ hamburger and a slice of Choco. Cake yesterday to celebrate DD's b'day while my parents were in town. But today I'm ready to go 14 days on SBD with NO cheats!!!!!!!! (Even though DD's REAL b'day is next week - She gets to order her favorite dessert when we go out to dinner, I'm not getting another cake.)

Good Luck!!! :goodvibes :goodluck:

I'm here with ya! Restarting today. After my big fat cheat, I'm totally back OP!
Breakfast today was 2 scrambled eggs and two pieces of turkey bacon
Snack -laughing cow cheese and broccoli
Lunch - ceasar salad with dressing
snack - motzarella stick
dinner - haven't decided yet, but probably grilled chicken and steamed veggies with lemon (mmmmm yummy!)
dessert - probably a SF fudgesicle.

Okay, who's with us?!?!?!?

I am starting today also. I am 54 and need to get this weight off! I am really psyched that SBD is the way for me even though I know as you get older, it is harder to shake the weight loose.

B- scrambled eggs with mushrooms, canadian bacon
S - string cheese, almonds
L - baked fish, broccoli
S - turkey roll ups, carrots
D - Taco Bake on lettuce bed
S - SF fudgesicle

Good luck to us all!

Count me in! I started on South Beach Saturday for real.. No cheats all weekend, but boy was I a grump! I'm sure it's the detox from sugar. I'm 45 and have 30 lbs to lose, blood pressure to drop and cholesterol to lower. Nothing else has helped so its either lose or go to the heavy duty drugs....

Here's What I have to eat today.....
B: Spinach Frittata and coffee
S: reduced fat cheese block (1 ounce)
L: Cobb salad, no croutons, grilled chicken and ranch dressing.
S: Laughing cow with snow peas
D: Grilled steak and Caprise salad (tomatoes, mozzerella cheese and vinarette)
Dessert is sf jello or a fudgecicle. I need to pick some of those up!

Can we have carrots on Phase 1: I saw it in one book, but not in the other.

Thanks,
Amy in Charlotte, NC

Not sure what the rest of my day will hold...probably tuna stuffed eggs for lunch. Glad to see the newbies joinin us! Welcome aboard chickies. Be sure and post with us in the daily so we can get to know ya.

Amyepfaff..Check out the F & Q section for the updated phase 1 & 2 food lists. Lot's of new things in there that are not in the book.

WOW! So glad to see you all - newbies and some of the regulars!! I've only been here a week - but so far I LOVE IT!

I thought carrots were a NO in Phase 1 (High sugars.) However - I drink the V8 and it has carrots, but the whole can is only 30 calories.

I'm baking my Turkey Roast today to have for the week and DH will grill up the fajita steak for the week as well. My meals changed a bit - we are doing the fajitas tonight, and saving the roast for snacks and fast meals.

Tuna stuffed eggs sound great too! I'm going to have to venture to the recipe section this week. By the end of last week I had my snacks so I didn't have to plan them - I had all the food in the fridge. But if we don't plan dinners, we are in trouble! Today I've planned my whole day just so I can stay on track!

Glad to meet you all :)

JakeBabe - Please don't take the attitude that this will be difficult. I am presently 53 (just about 54) and when I started this WOE last year, the weight came off very quickly. It took me just under 6 months to lose 40 pounds. You will do this and it will work for you, regardless of your age. ;)

I am also starting again today.

b: coffee. 2 T cashew butter
lunch: ham, cheese
snack: ranch dip, celery
dinner: gr turket br, black beans, enchilada sauce. Salad
dessert: jello and cool whip

I am really bad at planning. Also, I am a teacher, I am have no time to eat snacks in the mornings. I don't think its right to eat in front of my kids.

This post is great, lets keep giving everyone menu ideas and weight updates!

I will be realistically starting Phase I over on Thursday. Thanks for the advice on the age, that is really encouraging I will be 51 this week, surgically menopausal and this weight seems to want to stay around.

Thanks this is the most supportive, fun board on the web.

I am going to be going back to Phase 1 on Thursday, so I'm gonna join ya'll... soon! I gotta do a huge grocery shop, and get away from my rotten work environment (Thursday is my last day I believe, I put my quit day on the 27th, but they don't post the schedule). Yay, I'm excited.. it's nice to have people around when you want to go grab a bag of sugar and eat it all.. err... BAD! :)

Yea - I thought about that, and when I started the thread I sat there forever trying to figure something out (so thus Ijust labeled it plainly!) I thought about April.... something! Spring......something!

Anyway - we don't have to keep up on this thread, I just wanted to see all who were starting. If anyone can think of a name - then great!!! ;)

I hope for a great day as well!!!

I am starting today, April 19th. I have lost well on Atkins and have been on WW since October 1, 04. I decided to fo on their Core plan vs. counting points and a lot of people said it was similiar to this one. So I got the book and read it. Ok, most of it. :o
I just know from the past that carbs are not my friend. (How I wish they were!!)
I will be trying very hard at this and I'm sure I'll be visiting these forums frequently. It'll be wonderful getting to know you all!

I made it through day one with not much grief. I think my mindset is really ready this time to succeed. I have alot going on in my life and that usually stresses me out but for some reason this time it is occupying my time and I am not thinking about food constantly. Hope that continues!

I showed a loss this morning. I know, I know, don't weigh everyday. Bad habit of mine whether heavy or light! Too bad I did not listen to the scales when I needed to!!!!

Hope everyone has a great on program day today!

Wendy, welcome! You will love it here. You can do this!!!!
I weigh daily, I don't think there's anything wrong with that, especially at first. I like to know where I'm at. The trick is that you don't get discouraged by what the scale says.

Welcome all the new ones! We're thrilled to have you. You will find tons of support here. :grouphug:

Hey Wendy welcome to the sand!

I weigh all the time! I'm a scale ho! lol I am down the 3 pounds I went up over the w-end! WooHoo! I know that was water weight! lol If I had weighed all the time before I probably would have never gained as much as I did. I know when I used to be thin I weighed all the time and if I was up a few pounds I would be sure to get them off quickly. I know some say don't weigh everyday but i think you just have to do what is right for you.

Well, I have already had a tiny cheat. I had 4 M&M's today at school. Just shoot me now.

I like the name Spring losers. Hopefully by fall we will be fall winners!

I am super excited because my walking partner has decided to start the diet. She recently gained some weight and is feeling pretty down about it, and so we talked, and she is on Day 9 and is really seeing results. Such progress.

Bamie: We have the same tracker numbers, ( just always forget to post it) I am really struglgling to hit 145.

Day 2 of SBD and boy was I tempted today. But I kept on track. Having a hard time drinking my water though.

I am so excited to start!! I missed going grocery shopping tonight, I have some groceries, hopefully enough to last me thru Thursday. Yay! I'm gonna be skinnier ;) Spring losers, sounds pretty good to me. I'm also heading to the real beach, but in July, for 2 weeks.. with people who remember me at 163 pounds, NOT at the 261 I weighed this morning. Scary, I know I can't get to a size 5 by then.. but anything is better than nothing RIGHT! Last summer I ventured to the beach in a size 18 bathingsuit, at 271 pounds, so this year can only be better, RIGHT! :) Keep it up gals, you can do it!!

Ahh.... Wednesday. Such an odd day. It's not Monday, but still the weekend is sooo far away!!

I was in the blahs yesterday staying home with DS who was sick. I have lost my gains from the weekend and down one more pound.

Dinner: Grilled Fajita Steak (Lean cut of beef seasoned and grilled whole, then sliced)
Grilled onions, peppers and mushrooms, Broccoli.

SF fudgcicle for dessert :)

I avoided the leftover cake from Sunday! (ALthough it looked really good!) I also avoided the ice cream DH bought - No Sugar Added, but it's cookies and cream so there is still wheat etc in it.

DD has one more day of testing, but she has the cough now.... I might be picking her up after the test!

Hang in the Spring Losers!!! :)

Hello Ladies,
Got on the scale and looks like 1lb loss already. Today I went off SBD. I was away on a site visit and my supplier brought in food. Of course it was BBQ with the works. I had some BBQ and some pinto beans. I'm really proud of myself cause I skipped the PotatoSalad and the dessert.

Swimgirl - the key for me is to have prepared food on hand. Good luck with you start tomorrow. I know you can do it!

Hottie - I noticed your from Texas, where at? I'm in Dallas.

Ladies... I'm jeolous. I've done this faithfully since Saturday. No cheats and wicked cravings but no cheats.

Today I had:
B: 2 eggs with 1 slice lf bacon
No Snack wasnt hungry
Lunch: Chef Salad with 1/2 pkg ranch dressing
No snack wasn't hungry
Dinner: Meatloaf, no filler on mine and steamed green beans with almonds. SF fudgescicle for a snack.

I've not budged the scale from 160. I think I'm not drinking enough water. ITs kind of frustrating, but as long as the cravings go away, I'll be happy.

I know for me the most important thing is to have veggies with every meal or snack, and to make sure to have pickles in my fridge for cravings! After I eat a pickle, or two, I just don't want to put anything sweet, or anything really into my mouth. I am excited to start tomorrow, mostly because I am ready to feel better, and to look better! My 2 week summer vacation is in July (I'm very very excited for it), gotta look good! :) I'll see you all tomorrow!

Amy,
The scale didn't move for me until I loaded up on veggies. Force yourself to have veg for your snacks. I usually slice a cucumber and a red pepper and munch on those. Broccoli is good too. Whatever veggies you like, eat em! Water, water, water. I've started putting lemons or limes in mine to help. I always considered some lettuce and cheese a salad. LOL...it's not. Load that thing up with veggies and you'll be surprised, that scale should move!
The cravings will go away, but it takes a while. There are times when I still want something sweet or carby (but I was/am a MAJOR stress eater)...
Keep it up, you'll get there!!!!!

I know the feeling of being stuck.. I haven't budged belo 146 in almost 2 months. I have blossomed back to 153, but can't seem to hit and stay at 145. My Goal is 140 by 4/17/05. Oops, missed that! But 25 pounds lost in the past year is pretty damn good if I say so!

I know I need to eat more veggies with meals. I just don't see how broccoli at breakfast works. I also need to exercise. The school year is ending and we are so busy. I have no time. My BF from high school is on day 10 of P1 and is down 10 pounds, but this is the first time she has eaten healthy in her life. I am so proud of her. We have promised to help each other exercise this summer. I have 2 big vacations this summer. June 8-15 DH and I are going to Orlando, and July 6-8 we are going to Chicago for a romantic weekend. I really want to be smoken for both and not ashamed in my swimming suit.

(Sorry if it sounds like a rant, I really just need to continually remind myself. And I know you chicas with understand)

Have a good night

I am starting Ph 1 ( againr) tomorrow. DH says he can do this for one week, I'll take it. I am so incredible tired. I think detox will help. I have really learned a lot from this board, ie,. you really need to eat your veggies and drink your water. Can't wait.

Hello Ladies,
I had restarted ph 1 on monday and today when I weight in I had lost 1.8lbs. I also cheated two days. I have lost the big urge for sweets, but I am going to continue back on ph 1 for another week.
My biggest problem is incorportating the veggies. I need to work harder at that.

Patty - congrats on the loss!! Veggies can be a pain.. I discovered spaghetti squash, which doesn't taste like a veggie to me (I also smother it in sauce and parmesan cheese), it's the easiest way for me to get a veggie in. Keep it up!

I am on day 3, I had a MAJOR cheat yesterday, I was out all day and the most healthy choice I could make was no sugar added organic frozen fruit, w/ FF sugar free organic yogurt blended with ice. Even with that though, I am still down. I have 11 days to go! Woohoo!

SwimGirl

Patty - I buy mine at a little market, it only sells fruits and veggies. Get a small one! When I cook a small one it makes 3 meals! I put it in the over at 400 degrees for 20 minutes, and then check it every 10 minutes after that. I find it takes about 30-40 minutes depending. I cut it in half length-wise, put it face down on a pan. It's ready when it's stringy, but not mushy. Its not as good when it's overdone, so keep checking it. When it's done, let it cool for a few minutes, and then take a fork and scrape it, you'll see which way to do it. Also, what I do is put butter or margarine, just to help get rid of some of that taste. Well, this was long winded, I hope you got it :) If you need to know anything else, lemme know! :)

Today is the beginning of week number 2 on SBD. I weighed and have lost 5.6 pounds for the first week so I am pleased. I would love to have some "bad" carbs but will not give in as I want and need this weight to go away and never come back! I am getting sick of the eggs so I am reading some posts to try to get some alternative ideas on how to handle that problem.

How did everyone else do on the first week?

I've lost 6 pounds so far, but today I had a major slip up. I was out ALL day, hadn't planned to be, and ended up trying to find SOMETHING to eat and found a caesar salad wrap with chicken. And then faced with ice cream, which is never a temptation for me, but TOM arrived today, and things went crazy. And to top THAT off, someone gave me my fav cookie.. eek! Bad BAD Aimee! But I got right back on plan with dinner.

Jacque - congrats on that loss! You rock :)

Patty - thats a good loss, you are only 23 pounds away from your goal :)

Hi I am glad to be back writing to anyone who want's to read. I just looked at my last post and it was in March. Though this might be pathetic, I will not beat myself up or feel ashamed. I am in this for a lifetime change and for the first time in my life I am admitting that I need to have support. This is the first day that I have started back on SB. I lost some weight the last time and was doing great and then I just quit for some reason. I cant understand why I start to watch my diet and cut out bad habits, excersize and feel better and then poof it's like it never happend. I always seem to "forget" about the new habits that I learn. I will do my best this time. I am on the road to better things.. :D :cheer:

Aimee-- I have also been having a few cheats. But I am happy to report that I weighed 145.5 So down my pound gain and then another .5. So that makes me happy.

I made my steel cut oats in the crockpot and have been eating them for breakfast with some french vanilla creamer and walnuts mixed in. I think I will take it for lunch today because I won't have time for a more substaintial lunch.

I am making one of the 3FC low carb slow cooker chicken meals for dinner. Something with italian seasoning and cream cheese. I am using 1/3 less fat kind though, so hopefully it is OP. My husband wants me to make artichokes, but I don't know how to
uh oh!

Lets keep this thread going guys. I like know who is in the same place as me, and there are so many new names. Its great, I just can't keep people seperated.

Hi all. I just started P1 yesterday. I have been doing sbd since last summer with nice results but I've been really really bad lately. I thought i'd go back to P1 to get all those bad cravings out of my system.
Aimee - I LOVE spaghetti squash too. It really gets me through my pasta cravings. :T
Chrissy - good luck. It's good to see that you have a positive attitude about starting over. I'm sure you'll do great. :cheer:
Patty - I try to excercise 3 times a week - treadmill (while watching tv at the gym) or just walking outside during my lunch since it's getting nice outside. I also just started incorporating weights into my workouts since the more muscle you have the faster your metabolism is supposed to get. :crossed: I even joined a 5mile run/walk in july so that I have something that will make me excercise. I'm sure I will just walk the 5 miles (hopefully) but it helps to have something to strive for.
Have a great day everyone!

Hello Ladies,

Aimee - the thing is to get back on track. In life we will always have slips, or TOM, or stress, the key is to just get back on track.

Bobolvr78 - WTG for signing up for a fun run. I need to do that too.

Jamie- I need to start cooking more. Where did you get your recipes?

Chrissy - Don't beat your selfup too badly. Your back and that is the important thing.

I need to start some type of exercise program. I guess by the time I get home, i'm so tired, or stressed that I don't want to do anything. I'm at the point in my weight where I will start to stall, then I get impatient, then I gain. I need to get past this.

I started ph1 over on Monday April 26th. My husband swears I've been on ph1 for a solid month now! I guess I have because if a cheat in the slightest I start over. I wasn't really sure what to do so ........that's what I did! I lost 10 lbs after doing ph1 for 2 weeks and I've maintained that but I felt like I wasn't giving it 100% when I slipped up and ate a piece of chicken off of the grill that had bbq sauce on it! Although I get really sick of salads, I feel good when I'm doing ph1. Also, some brand new capris that I bought about a week ago(they were snug on me/size14) are literally falling off of me now! Any advice or suggestions for me? Yesterday this is what I had: 2 scrambled eggs, 2 pieces of turkey bacon, a glass of 1% milk, 2 cups of coffee, a bottle of water, String cheese, Salad w/ cauliflower, romaine, green leaf lettuce, radishes, spring onion, celery, mushrooms, tuna, and cucumber, water, sf jello w light cool whip, sirloin burger w/ grilled onions & mushrooms & salad (like above) Tell me whatcha think! I think I need more water. Everytime I'm thirsty I get some and I keep a sports bottle full and constantly drink from it but somehow it still seems like I'm not drinking enough! Well, good luck ladies! I'll keep ya informed on my progress! TARA

Ruth,
I really thought I was getting enough veggies! The salad that I had at lunch filled an entire large plate and had a good variety of veggies and at dinner it was a good portion of grilled onions and mushrooms plus a good sized side salad. Today I had 2 over easy eggs and 2 pieces of bacon, Sirloin burger, sauteed zuchini and yellow squash, and for dinner I'll probably have chicken breast, brussel sprouts, and some other vegetable. Could you explain how I'm not getting enough veggies cause I really thought I've been sticking to it good and staying right OP. Your suggestions are always appreciated. Tara~

Tara, it looked to me as if there was not enough variety but now I see. Hmmm. Water amount? Also - what kind of bacon was that?

Lisi, here is the link to the Daily. It gets called different things on different days but should always have a date on it. http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/showthread.php?t=57017

Oh my god, I'm dying from a lack of coffee headache!! But I was a good girl today, nothing bad, at all, I'm impressed really. How'd you all make out today? I also started my new job, so even with that stress I stayed on plan :) The job worked out really good though.

Hi Aimee,
WTG for staying on plan. I did not do to well yesterday(thursday). Today trying to get back on plan. The weekends are the hardest for me. Tomorrow is my official weigh in so we'll see how I did. Still have'nt found any of that spag. squash. I wonder if the season is over?

Patty - I think it depends on the store, the place I shop I can get it all year around. It's hard to find it other places.. I didn't do so well on Thursday either, I had some ice cream.. which I just don't understand!! I don't even LIKE ice cream 99.9% of the time! I'll cross my "skinny" fingers for your weigh in tomorrow :)

Aimee,
That is what I have been craving. I was at home today, had some contractors working on pouring a patio. I was just dying for ice cream, instead ate about 3 SF fudgicles.

Patty usually you find the summer squash in the fall. Odd name for it's season. But you can always ask your produce person if they will have or can get any now.

Ruth, thanks for the link. I figured I'd subscribe but it says it is a closed thread. I think someone gave another link and I'll try that.

Patty - I need to restart phase 1 as well. I made it about a week, but have lost 6 pounds. I've been adding some weights in, and I really think thats going to make a huge difference. And while I'm not 100% on plan, I'm making better decisions, today for lunch I had a salad, and juice (which they made right in front of me!). And this was faced with food court food, including my fav food court place (Mmmm.. bourban chicken, ohh, and honey garlic chicken.. yummy! But I skipped it!). Are you making better decisions? I will probably restart Phase 1 on Friday though, I just got "paid" yesterday and can't really afford too much in the good food part this week. Anywho, I'm babbling.. we definitely gotta restart!!
