Good morning! I don't have much time to post this morning, as I have a dentist appointment early. I hope everyone is doing well. Its a new week, so lets make the best of it, and love ourselves enough to take care of our bodies. Love yourself enough to feed yourself wholesome, healthy food.
I hope and pray this is a great week for each of us!

Good Monday morning everyone. I'm glad this is a start to a new week. I'm back on board. I'll have to detox from the sugar I've been having and junk food I've had since my Grandkids were here. So this week will be a tough one. But I'll just have to take one day at a time. I've also had a bad sore throat and am getting over it. Breakfast- two slices bacon, 2 soft boiled eggs. Lunch- Salad Dinner- 3 oz. steak and asian salad.
Monet- Thanks for starting the board. Hope it turns out good at the dentist.

Hello all! I have to get on here early as I have 300 people coming for dinner tonight! At least I'm not in charge of the baquet this year (whew!), but I do have to finish getting all the nametags printed. Then I have a ton of work to do.
I also have to tell you something. I have been totally and completely unable to stay on plan for several months now. I do okay for a day or two, then totally blow it. So I've decided to shake things up and last Wednesday I joined Weight Watchers. I did this for two reasons. First, I thought the weekly meeting and weigh-in would be helpful. Second, I'm on the points plan which means that I can be a little more flexible in my eating. I'm still incorporating most of my SB principles like whole grains and as little refined sugar as possible, but I now have a framework within which to be a little more flexible.
I love this board and the people on it so I'd like to stay here instead of transferring over to the WW board.
I also have a recipe per Monet's challenge. This is my new favorite breakfast: It's a homemade Egg McMuffin. I break an egg into a small custard dish, scramble it and microwave it on high for about 45 seconds (spray the dish with PAM first). Then I take 1/2 piece of Americn cheese and melt it over the egg for 10 seconds. I slide the whole thing out of the dish onto a toasted 100% WW English Muffin and presto--Egg Muffin! I haven't picked up any Canadian Bacon yet, but will add that as soon as I get to the store. The best thing about this is that you can wrap it up and take it with you if you need a portable breakfast! I say Kathleen Dalaman (?) do this on the Food Network awhile back and have always wanted to try it. This is perfectly OP whether on SM or WW!
I hope everyone has a good OP week!

Good Monday Morning Sugar Busters and Detoxers!!
Sounds like more of you are jumping on the detox bandwagon. Just don't think I could do that.
Weekend was great. It was such a beautiful day yesterday. I refused to go into the house the entire day. We cleaned out the hot tub and took a 2 mile walk. It felt so good to get outside and walk for a change.
Eating was great except for Saturday night we went to a friend's house to watch the games. We were going to order pizza. Well I figured out I would jet order a small low carb pizza for me and let them get the other kind. When we got there, she had already stopped and picked up the pizzas so I was out of luck. I ate a lot of salad and 3 small squares of pizza. The scale was the same place today it was on Friday so I was happy about that. After all our drinking and partying. Every other meal was legal.
I have been glued to the TV with the Pope passing away. He was a remarkable man.
Arcayne, good for you getting back to the pool. It's amazing how just a little bit of wt loss makes us feel better. Keep up the good work.
Tech, congrats on the lb :Cheer:
Sebray, congrats also to you on the 1 lb loss. ANd getting your execise in.
Bob, glad you are feeling better. Don't overdo at work today.
Saraha, it's amazing how fast you lose those cravings for sugar. Now salty things get me in trouble.
Monet, I do about 15-20 minutes of each body part. About 8 different exercises. I have a routine my traine worked out and I cut out exercises in magazines to change them up. Sounds like the detox is going good. 11 pounds is awesome.
Toni, good luck this week. Sometimes it is hard after a week of good eating. But then sometimes we are so ready to do it. Take one day at a time. You can do it.
Susan, I'm certainly glad youa re staying with us and not moving to the WW board. I think what you are doing is great. You have to find soemthing that works for YOU. WW is a great program. I got to goal with them twice. Of course then I only had 40 pounds to lose. I love their principles and weighing in in front of someone does help. Much success to you, but please stay with us. Your receie sounds great. May have to try it.
Got lots of work to do so better get started. Have a great OP day!

:sunny: Good Morning! I hope everyone had a great weekend! Saturday was cold and windy here in georgia, but yesterday was beutiful. My family and I went walking throught he woods around our house yesterday for a while and then cooked out in the evening. I am a school nurse and we are out on Spring Break this week. Not really planning anything major. Hopefully I can find some time to go down to our monster of a basement and do some cleaning/organizing. Not fun, but it's not going to happen by itself. I think we may be going to Savannah for a long weekend as my parents live on Tybee Island. My mom has been in the hospital twice in the last month fighting pneumonia. Then she had an accumulation of fluid on her lungs that they had to take care of. Hopefully things will be better and she will be headed home soon. :goodscale I'm a little nervous about weighing in on Wednesday as this was the first week that I've been on the plan. I guess we'll just have to wait and see how it goes. Everyone have a good Monday!

Good morning all, it is sure beautiful here today. The sun is shining brightly and the temp is warming up. I am definitely looking forward to start this week as there are some gathering with friends throughout the weeks which I love. Dh and I get a late start today just laying around the bed with dd chit-chatting and playing. It was one of my fav things for family "quality time"...lol.
Jess is off school for Spring break so I am hoping to spend some fun time with her this week. Today, Jess and I are taking my next door neighbor to lunch. I let her chose the restaurant and she chose a pizza place close to our house which I haven't been to. I am fine with it as I know they have salads and other stuff plus I am okay with eating illegal pizza once in a while as long as I keep the portion under control. I have great neighbors and my nextdoor neighbor is one of them. When my own family was sicked a month or two ago, she has been so helpful and caring for us so i really want to thank her for being there. She just retired not long ago so I thought it would be good for us to take her out and spend sometime together. She and her husband loves Jess and treat her like their grandchild. What more can I ask for. Okay, enough of babbling. I do tend to get emotional when I talk about my wonderful neighbors...lol. Well, it has been my prayers for years that I hope we find some goodfriends/neighbors and God has certainly answered them :)
Yesterday I had a scary moments, well not just for me but for my neighbors/friends as well. I almost fainted in church! I was a little short breath yesterday morning from rushing around getting ready and then get dd to the nursery at church etc. When we (congregation) finally sat down to hear the sermon, I felt light-headed, short of breath and knew that I was going to faint. I told me friend next to me about it and asked if I can borrowed her shoulder to lay on. Boyy....the stars started to close in and I kept praying that I don't faint otherwise it will be quite a scene...lol, pregnant and fainting is not a good idea...lol. Thank God, soon enough I started to sweat and felt better again. I really scared my friends and my husband as well. I have to pay more attention to how I am feeling now and especially not let myself go to the extend of short of breath.
Some replies :
MONET : Good morning, isn't it a beautiful day today? Thanks for starting the board with such positive reminders. This week, I plan to try the "Ranch Chicken" recipe at the recipe section since it seems so easy to make. Last week, I put together a simple marinate for my chicken drumsticks and it was delish. I had the drumsticks marinated in lots of chopped garlic, sliced onions, slices of lemon, salt, pepper, olive oil, parsley and a little of onion and garlic powder as well. I then baked the chicken in the oven for 30 to 40 mins. The last 5 to 10 mins, I blasted the chicken at 450 degrees to get a nice colour on the chicken. I also loved the roasted lemon taste :) Tomorrow, I am going to try the recipe using chicken breast and add some fresh thyme in the marinate. I have a dentist appointment tomorrow for fillings, but after that I will be off the hook until July. Hope your dentist appointment goes well today :)
TONI : Glad you are back on board. A fresh start is always good and you are right about focusing on one day at a time:) You can do it! Hope your sore throat goes away soon.
FILLISE : Any actions are good, WW or just SB alone doesn't really matters. I love flexibility because it keeps in sane :) As Toni says, one day at a time :) As for your McMuffin recipe, I saw the show too. Definitely a good idea!
JACK : You are doing great regardless of that illegal pizza. Your consistent exercises and your excellent food choices are what matter most :)
THIN : It is a beautiful day here as well. Sounds like you had a great weekend. I hope your mom's condition will improved soon. Don't worry about weighing in, with all the good food choices you are making already, you will see the results soon or later :)
SARAH : Good morning. I have a dentist appointment tomorrow...not looking for it as well. I haven't been watching news this weekend so I had no idea about the snow in Cleveland. Boyy...the snow sure sounds nasty. Glad you are back in a piece as well.
Got to go get Jess and I ready for our lunch apointment with neighbor in an hour. Chat with you all later.

"OH, what a beautiful mooooorning, oh what a beautiful daaaaaay" yes, It is I, and I'm singing Okalahoma:) I saw the end of it last night on one of the movie channels. I'm up and I'm so full of energy, I don't know what to do first. You see, I invited my mom to come visit me here in TN, and she finally agreed to do it. Now I'm SCARED!! I'm buying her plane ticket, but there is a lot to work out, including cleaning my messy place and possibly my little Speck of a car. I've got a tiny apartment, with one bed and I had thought we'd get a nice place in town for mom to stay, but that would hurt her feelings. But, I can't sleep in a recliner for six nights either. My housemate is looking at two bedroom places so I could stay with Mom (and we can hang at my place during the day, it's not that I don't want her here!), Lora (DHM? LOL) is with a tour company and her hubby sells timeshare (good stuff, not scary crimeshare!) so we can probably find something at a good price. Or clean out my DHM's sewing room so I can use the sleeper sofa there. Sheesh. And, mom would lose her mind if she knew I was a phone sex worker, so I can't tell her why I'm taking time off while she's here, so she can't come stay two weeks!
It will work out. I know it will. But, YIKES!!
FILLISE: That breakfast sammich sounds yummy and I want one immediately!! Hmm, I have eggs and cheese and whole wheat bread... I could MAKE one!!
More later!! ::waves to everyone::

Just a quickie to say...yes, it is such a beautiful day, I can't believe what this weekend was!!!
One lady that works for my father (DF?) had a problem over the weekend..still not sure how it ended up...her DH went to Cleveland for a funeral (didn't take her or the kids--must have been work related??) and he didn't ever get to the funeral or get home. The snow was soooo bad...and, yesterday, she didn't go to work...she went to the police and they wouldn't put in a missing persons report because it hadn't been 24 hours. Well, how horrifying!!! I haven't found out if he ever got home...In this age of cellphones, I would think he would have called with car problems or even if he was in a ditch?? Which makes me think...maybe something worse happened??? Oh, I feel horrible for my DFs employee...
So, today eating has been good. I had one of those florentine omelettes for breakfast...and for lunch I think it may be a sandwich on a whole wheat tortilla (mission makes good whole wheat tortillas...low carb/whole wheat...really nice) with turkey and cheese...and celery sticks on the side...
Dinner will be smoked pork chops w/asparagus...unk what else. I have to work until 9pm tonight, so, my dinner will have to wait until then. I hate eating so late!!!
I haven't bought my stuff for the detox yet. I think I will start on Friday. That will make the worst of my headaches (I am a caffeine addict) over the weekend and the first part of the week...
One detox question...how many times do you drink the lemonade drink a day? That is the ONLY thing I haven't found anywhere...I know how to make it...I know what to do at night with the tea and the saline in the morning..but, during the day, how many times do they want you to drink the drink?? And, water can fill in in other places???
Thanks guys,
I will be checking back tonight from work...

Good Morning from Detoxland! Day 6 for me, and I am feeling pretty good. I can't believe its been six days!
Ok, one thing I want to say to all of you thinking about doing this detox diet. You MUST read a book on it, that has the directions. The reason is that you can't just quit eating and start drinking the lemonade for ten days, then go back to food. Its VERY important that you know the correct way to break the fast. Most people who have problems with a long term fast have them when they go to break the fast. PLEASE, PLEASE get the book and read it before you start doing this. Amazon sells it for about $5. You probably could find it at health food stores that have a book section. Breaking a long fast takes a lot of will power and about 1 day for every two you fasted to get back to eating your regular diet.
My dentist appointment today went great. I have no cavities, and very few problems, so they love to see me...I am easily in and out in about 30 minutes. Today was no exception. It did take longer though because I like to rinse my mouth a lot. I also like to play with the little water fountain. Its a wonder they put up with me.
SARAH: They recommend 6-12 glasses of the lemonade a day. You really need to read one of the books, or find online how to break the fast. Its very important to do it correctly. Breaking it is much harder than going the ten days. Please keep us posted about that missing man. That is awful!
ARCAYNE: That is wonderful that your mom is coming to visit! I hope you can get it all worked out. Is it as pretty in Tennessee as it is here? :)
KENG: The weather is gorgeous again! yay! Enjoy your lunch! Its great to have good neighbors! I wonder why you were lightheaded and faint?! Low blood sugar maybe? Enjoy your spring break!
HEART:
THIN: If MY parents lived on Tybee, I think I might be spending a LOT of time visiting! :) I hope your mom recovers swiftly! Wave to Savannah for me if you go! I love the area, and especially the old town area.
JACK: It was sad that the Pope died. What a fine man he was! You did pretty good for the weekend! Thanks for the info on how you weight train. Once I get off this detox, I will try it. Right now, walking is about as strenuous as it gets.
FILLISE: The recipe sounds yummy! Once I can eat again, I will definitely try it. The dentist was not too yuck! Just a routine cleaning and my wonderful teeth were as impressive as usual! :)
TONI: I bet you are missing the grandkids. Glad you are ready to hop back on the wagon. How is your weather?
Guess I will go try and get something done...something pressing..like a nap!

Just a quickie drop in to say HAPPY MONDAY!! It rained non-stop this weekend and we are so flooded out. My backyard is an absolute lake! But we have this just about every year and it always dries out and we always have our wonderful green, sunny backyard to play in. But right now, if we had to mow the lawn, we'd need to put it on a hover craft!! LOL But, for now it's brown and matted, so no need for that...our tulip and daffodil bulbs are bravely poking their heads out of the dirt!! That's always encouraging to see!!
Just had lunch...grilled Tilapia, an orange and a salad...for BF I had three sausage links and mixed berries with a small slice of sourdough toast. For dinner I'll have chicken and fried summer squash. I like to slice the squash, dip them in egg, milk and pepper and then fry them in olive oil. Kinda good and at least it's something different! I usually always have green beans or broccoli.
Okay...have to go catch up!! I hate Spring Forward...I have the worst time adjusting!!
Will do replies later or tomorrow if I get distracted... HI TO EVERYONE!!

WELL...BOB IS STIL AT HOME WITH THE CRUD!!
I had a spell including continuous coughing until way past 3a.m. Took it upon myself to call my Boss's voicemail and let her know I wouldn't be there today
either. Hopefully, tomorrow will be my new target date. I think the bad coughing spells are due to my lungs breaking up and wanting rid of what's been hanging out in there! KEEP ALL FINGERS CROSSED THAT I CAN GET BACK TO WORK TOMORROW!!!
ARCAYNE...I feel for ya Girlfriend. Mothers can be difficult...I say go for the place in town and do a lot of sightseeing...let it be a vacation for you too and stay away from your house...
I'm sure these new buddys were just as surprised as we were when you let us in on what your job is. I would have liked to have seen their faces when they read that...I remember my look...and I have to laugh at it now!
KEEP UP THE POOL EXERCISE....it can only help you!
JACKIE...I've been glued to the tube as well. Although I'm not Catholic, I was
very taken with this GOOD MAN that you call your POPE...He was one of the most wonderful people I've ever known about. Kate as well has been keeping close watch...
One funny thing about the way they have him dress. Years ago, THE POPLE received his first pair of BASS WEEJUNS...he LOVED THEM, and when the BASS company found out about it, they kept his closet stocked. If you will notice, they have them on him now...highly polished....as well..It just strikes me, and I'm so glad they did it...He loved his WEEJUNS...wore them all the time...
OK ALL YOU DETOX PEOPLE....Take it easy...do as MONET say...she's the GURU of DETOX being in her 6th day...
ALL YOU SPRING BREAK MOMMIES....Don't pull your hair out this week....it's only a week...you can do it!!!
JULIA....GIRL...you need to watch yourself...you're pregnant unless you've forgotten! BE CAREFUL!!!
Ladies, I'm off for a whle...I'll be back later

Just a quickie.
BF; 1/2 ww bagel with pb. Lunch was a salad and an orange. Dinner will be chili as we have to help move my aunt into an new nursing home. So it is ready when we get back.
Thin, I would imagine that you have dropped a pound or two being your first week OP. Enjoy your spring break even if it is cleaning. Hope your mom is better soon.
Sarah good job at the party. You are on the right track.
Ken, that was a scare you had. You need to really be careful and not overdo. Your neighbors do sound wonderful. I was just saying last night I wish we had neighbors that would come over and sit outside and talk.
Arcayne, how exciting that you mom is coming for a visit. Sounds like you have lots of preparations to make.
Heart
Monet, glad the dentist appt went well. It seems you are a case everywhere you go, dentist, dr. etc.
Tech, I love springing forward. When you work it nice to have some daylight when you get home.
Got to run. Have a great evening.

Just another quickie between work stuff...Mondays are busy...
About the Detox...I am going to get a book or a cd...there are some I found on amazon "Lose Weight, Have More Energy & Be Happier in 10 Days" - Glickman, "The Master Cleanser" - Burroughs, "The Lemonade Diet, A Master Cleanse" (cd- Glickman)
Do those sound okay??? I am getting scared..haha...my caffeine intake is horrifying...this should be good for me...but, those first couple days...argh!

Evening everyone! Ruth came by and talked me into going to the eyeglass place with her. She ended up getting contacts, and it took all afternoon! I was very over do for my lemonade when I got home. I still feel hollow, so I have not caught up yet.
SARAH: Yes, Glickman's book is the cheapest and probably all you need. There are some glaring inaccuracies in the Burroughs book, though he did originate the cleanse. My neighbor, who told me about it, is a massage therapist and was studying to be a nurse, and it made her shudder! Just get Glickman's book. He has a lot of testimonies in his. Its interesting. Of course, Burroughs book is cheaper...so if you just plan to skim it for the nitty gritty, you could get that. Don't bother with all the CDs and stuff...waste of money!
BOB: Man, you need to kick this stuff to the curb, girlfriend!
JACK: Yep, I am one of those that strikes terror into the hearts of service people when they see me coming. I love salami sliced really thin, and the deli girl at the grocery store used to go on break when she saw me walk into the store! It took her a long time and killed her arm to slice my 1-2 pounds of hard salami!
TECH: I can deal with the spring time change...its the one in the fall that I hate. I think I ought to move to Indiana where they don't change! Of course, if it were just farther south, I might be able to convince Tom to come with me....
Gotta go fix dinner!

Howdy everyone:
Yes....it is me! I can't even begin to tell you all that has happened since I have last been on here.
We had Britt's birthday party yesterday and had 31 kids there; it was crazy, but a lot of fun. I ended up having to make two cakes and cupcakes to make sure we had enough for everyone. She wanted a butterfly cake, so I made two with different colors; they were bright and colorful!
I am down to 119.5#'s and have been for about 4 days now, so I guess it's official. I am sure I will be going back up quite a bit in the near future. I just found out that I need to have a partial hysterectomy (everything but the ovaries). It is tentatively scheduled for the 27th of this month. It's not just that either, it will also be a reconstructive surgery to tack my bladder back up into "normal" position. Due to an extended episiotomy with Britt, and having both of my children "vacuum extracted," my female organs are falling. My uterus has fallen and is pressing my bladder into my cervix, and my rectum is out of whack too. I won't be able to workout for 6 weeks after surgery. I don't know how much I'll even be able to lift after this, and squats will probably be out of the question. We'll see. Prayers would be much appreciated!
Eating has been good, except for the days when I don't have much of an appetite. Exercise has been 4 days a week, so I'm doing pretty well there too.
Monet: Thanks for starting the board; your dedication is so much appreciated. I can't believe you have been in detox for 6 days; I'd be passed out somewhere. I can't go too long without eating. You are so strong!
Toni: Good luck with that sugar detox!!! It's tough, but it can be done.
Fillise: Enjoy the banquet!! WW has a lot of new programs/options now, and it will help keep you accountable. Good luck with it, and please stay here and post. We don't want to lose you!
Jack-K: You are doing great with eating and exercising; what dedication!!
Thin: Welcome aboard; I look forward to getting to know you better. Enjoy this time off school; it goes awfully fast. I hope your DM is feeling better soon.
Sarah: I haven't welcomed you yet, so welcome aboard; I'm glad you found us here. I'm glad you got home safely from Ohio. What a terrible situation for DF's employee; I hope all works out well for her.
Ken: Wow, your preg. is going so fast. Everyone else's pregnancies always fly for me; mine seemed to drag. I am sure you are all getting very excited for the new addition. When is your actual due date? I'm glad you are starting to put on some of the lost weight from your first trimester. I'm so glad you didn't pass out in church. It's hard to adjust to being preg. again when you've been away from it for so long. Take it easy and know your limiatations; it only gets tougher from here....remember, trouble getting up and down, tying shoes, peeing your pants when you cough or sneeze  . I'm glad you are feeling better.
Arcayne: Enjoy your mom. Good luck with accommodations.
Tech: Howdy!!
BOB: I sure hope you are able to get back to work soon. You have had quite a year already. Hang in there!!!!
Well, I gotta go give Britt her spelling test, and get her going on her Thank You cards.
I hope to check in more in the coming days/weeks. Just be patient with me, and I'll get better with posting again!

What a day. It has flown by. We put some squash in the ground and few cantaloupe. I don't expect the cantaloupe to take because of my soil but it will be neat if it does. Eating this weekend actually went pretty good for a change. Mama grilled some eggplant and I ate about a pound. Really..and you know what is so cool it only had about a 150 calories for the whole thing. We also tried a new fruit..a pomelo. Not worth the money in my opinion but it was so interesting we just had to give it a try...Kinda like an expensive grapefruit. Only it's not yucky like a grapefruit.
My new recipe this week is BBQ lamb. I took some left over lamb..chopped it up and added Kraft carb BBQ sauce. Delicious!
Nat...praying about your upcoming surgery and recovery.
Jack-K...woo hoo on getting your walk in yesterday. I'm so glad the weather cooperated. We went to a few flea markets. The weather was wonderful.
Susan...I'm so glad you are gonna stay here with us. I for one would sure miss you. My sister did well on weight watchers.
Bob...((hugzz)) Sorry your cold is being such a bugger. Hope tomorrow you feel tons better.
Kenj...almost passing out can't be good. Do you think your sugar dropped or something? If it tends to get high from time to time if could drop off you know. Hang in there.

Good Evening everyone! Just got in from a nice walk in the fading sunlight. It was a glorious day here, and I hope it holds! Not much going on here. Tom is watching a movie, and James is playing on his computer. The kittens are sprawled out here and there, and the older one is outside hunting bugs. I wish I had a good book to read. I guess I will just go to bed early!
PANCHO: Wow! Good to see you! I feel for you with the hyst! Go to www.hystersisters.com (http://www.hystersisters.com/) Its a great site that will answer all your questions. They have a pre-op and post-op board, and you will find plenty of other women who are going through the same thing you are. :) I am still not totally back to where I was, but I am getting better and better. The swelly belly is almost gone now. I am assuming you will have a abdominal surgery if you have to have repairs done. Is that correct? Or can they do it laparoscopically? Recovery is easier with a lap. You won't be doing any lifting for at least 6-8 weeks. Even if you feel good, don't. You can cause adhesions that can cause a lot of painful problems later on. One thing I love about the hyst is no more Aunt Flow. ;) I will keep you in my prayers. Please ask your hubby to email me, or someone here, and let us know how you are. OK?
COUNTRY: Did you forget me on purpose? Was it something I said? Do I have bad breath? BO?? Tom weeded some in the garden area tonight. Maybe this Saturday we will get the garden in! Grilled eggplant sounds good! Did she put something on it, like olive oil? I have never had a pomelo before. I have seen them, but never tried one. I am not a big grapefruit fan, so I guess I would not like them.

(((Monet))) I'm so sorry. I'd never leave you out on purpose. I even went through the list to make sure I didn't forget anyone. All I can say is I'm a goober. :) One of the administrators on the site you recommeded to Poncho is a dear friend of mine from another ladies group. It is an awesome support site. She did brush some olive oil on it but I like it plain with just the cajun seasoning. She also roasted some elepant garlic...I think I ate a clove and half. Now, that is some bad breath.

BOB: LOL, I forget that I'm outside the box because all of my friends here know:) And I put it in my profiles because, that's what I do. Until I have to explain to my mom why I wouldn't be able to work with her here, when she says she'd be quiet and read while I was on business calls...::headwall::
JACK-K and everyone who has been so sweet about wishing me fun with mom, I spoke too soon. She's depressed and afraid of flying, what she really wants to do is go rejuvenate at a retreat center she has always loved. SO that is going to be her Mother's Day present from me, instead of her ticket here. And I'm bummed, but I'm (sadly) also a little relieved. I would have gotten everything sorted out, but now I guess I don't have to.
And who says there isn't a corellation between bad feelings and comfort food. Because this afternoon after I talked to her, I was hit with a major craving - a Monster burger from hardees or honey BBQ wings from KFC, with a big cold Coke and fries to wash'em down with. I had stuff for supper, but no snacks and I had to go out to the Walgreens to get some nuts and diet sprite, which is right across from the Hardee's. I was so hungry I felt sick. But, I weighed myself before I went, saw that I'm on my way to losing again this week, and the pleasure of moving those numbers on Wednesday outweighed the junkfood. Or the fleeting urge to whip up some brownies here at home. It was HARD, ladies. But having you all to 'fess to makes it a lot easier:)
Hugs all around,

Happy Tuesday Girlfriends!
It's going to be another beautiful day here. :rain: tomorrow though.
We got an hour walk in last nite, about 3 miles. It felt so nice to be able to walk in the sunshine. Also got my wts in. Stayed up way too late watching that game last nite. Now I'm :tired:
I would like to ask if everyone would post their birthdays. Deb always kept track of them. I can't do the great graphics she always did. BUt at least I can let everyone else know about them. I have a few of the oldies. I know Heartmom has one coming up ont he 22nd of this month. I keep a cheat sheet of everyone's name, real name, where they are from, birthday, and something to make me remember them by. I need to add all the newbies.
BOB, I sure hope you got to work today. That sure is a nasty infection. What a cute story about the bass weejuns. I noticed his feet but couldn't tell what they were. His feet looked so small.
Nat, good to hear from you, but hate to hear your news. Sending prayers for your surgery. I assume I will need the ole bladder taped up one day too. With as fit and toned as you are you will be ok w/o working out for 6 weeks. I would suggest walking when you are able. It will get your energy back and well as keep your wt down. Keep us posted.
Crystle, you are going to have your own little farmer's market in your backyard. I can't even grow tomatoes. Not tha I want to, don't like them. How did you fix the eggplant. DH would love it.
Monet,We got a wonderful walk in too. It is so nice to be able to get outside and walk for a change. Here's to day 7 :hat:
Sebray, congrats on getting one test out of the way. Be careful of flylady. They flood you with emails. I finally had to unsubscribe. WTG on getting that exercise in when you didn't feel like it.
Arcayne, I'm so sorry your mom isn't able to come visit. I know you are disappointed. :cheer: on passing that junk food attack. It is great that you found somehting to keep you on track. That's what we are here for. I bet you will see a nice drop tomorrow.
bf: oatmeal
lunch, rueben sandwich (homemade) orange
dinner: chicken somehow. Anyone have any ideas? veggies
Have a great day.

Good Morning! Its day 7 here in detox land! According to what I have read, day 7 can be a major detox day, so I am expecting to have some symptoms. My joints ache, which they have not been doing for four or five days, so I am hoping that will be the extent of the symptoms!
I am going to throw on some clothes and run to Harry's Whole Foods this morning. I am out of the maple syrup I need for the detox and I am almost out of lemons. I will probably continue at least for the ten days, and I may go even longer. As long as I feel good, and don't have any major problems with feeling faint, or like I am starving, I may as well. I am NOT looking forward to going through the phase of breaking the fast. It sounds like you have to have a lot of willpower to do it correctly, and its going to be a big struggle! I would almost rather not eat then have to navigate the break! I know...I know.
Well, I hopped on the metal monster, and I am down 14 pounds in one week. I know some will come back when I start eating again, but it feels good to see the better numbers on the scale. :)
I don't have time for replies right now, but will get to it a bit later...when I get home. Have a great day everyone!

JACK: How about putting a bit of soy sauce on your chicken? If you marinate it in soy sauce, and a bit of agave, then grill it, its really good. Add a salad and some brown rice to compliment it.

Wow! It is a gorgeous spring day here in east central Alabama. The azaleas, dogwoods and wisteria are in full bloom and we have an abundance of sunshine in which to enjoy them!!!!!
Thanks to everyone for your kinds words, but don't worry--I ain't goin anywhere! I'd miss everyone too much. . .
Well, except for when I leave for Italy FOUR WEEKS FROM TODAY!!! I can't wait!
Eating has been going well. Last night I had a banquet to go to. Breaded chicken and rice with greenbeans and a salad. I ate about half of what was on my plate and was able to incorprate it into my points, so I didn't feel like I did anything bad. I have to say that the points thing is making me look more closely at portion sizes--I needed that discipline. WI is tomorrow so we'll see.
Monet--I hope day 7 is not too bad for you. How long can one do the fast?
Jackie--We have to take these sunny days when we can get them!
Arcayne--Good for you on not giving in! I'm sorry about your DM not being able to come, but it's good that you stayed focused on what you want.
Sebray--good for you on getting on the gazelle! What exam are you taking?
Country--Hey!
Pancho--Monet and I can help you through the hyster process! Go to the hyster sisters website--it really helped me know what to expect before and after.
BOB--Miss Belle read your past and wanted to know if you had a hairball. She said I could send you some of her medicine.
Julia--PLEASE take care of yourself!!!! When are you due? Remember that you do need to be eating more now!!
Sarah--Hey!
Time to get back to work. Yesterday was consumed by last minute things for the banquet, so lots of work to do today.

Good morning...
Another beautiful day here. Had a later start again with the family but it is totally okay with me. I am making a breakfast casserole for breakfast this morning and it is still in the oven. It should be ready in 20 mins. I had 1/2 cup of milk while waiting :)
Jess and I had a wonderful lunch with my neighbor yesterday. The pizzas were not good except the Taco pizza my neighbor loved was good. I had salad with 2 1/2 small pieces of pizza. I didn't feel full but that was enough to feel okay. After lunch, we went to the park and did burn some calories there, standing and walking...lol. Jess certainly burnt the most calories playing in the playground with some friends. Well, it was sure a nice warm day yesterday. In the evening, I went out in the yard for a walk and also pulled some weeds.
As for today, will be seeing the dentist in 1 1/2 hrs for my last fillings and then I am back to my regular general cleaning schedule. Gosh, I am so happy because last year my overall teeth health was terrible since I hadn't been to a dentist for over a decade and I mean more than a decade :( It feels good to be back on track plus having a good dentist really helps. I have some tidying and cleaning up to do around the house as I have invited few neighbors/friends up the street for a "Girls Night" at my house. I did that few months ago and somehow didn't continue with it on a regular basis but hopefully we will. One of my neighbors have an exchanged student staying with her so this gathering is organized for her as well. She is due to return to Switzerland in 2 months. Gosh, we are going to miss her :) Oh, it will be a potluck dinner and I am cooking the "meat". It will be my simple garlic, lemon and herbs marinate on some chicken breasts. My neighbors will bring a starch and a green. Oh, I will also make sauteed spinach with garlic and put them under the chicken once the chicken is done. There is never enough veggies anyway :) We might not have dessert unless it is fruits.
Menu for today :
Breakfast : Sausage, eggs and veggies casserole with 1/2 cup of milk.
No snack as I will be at the dentist.
Lunch : Baked salmon with Jamaican jerk marinate, sauteed or steamed broccoli and rice pilaf or plain basmati rice if I don't have time to make pilaf.
Snack : Fruits and some kind of protein.
Dinner : With friends...as mentioned above.
Some replies :
HEARTMOM : Hello...how are you?
ARCAYNE : Sorry your mom is not coming to visit but a retreat sounds very good too. Hopefully someday she will feel at ease to fly, if not, you can always visit her first and then fly back with her. My mom wouldn't dare to fly alone mainly because she doesn't understand English well so she will need to have someone flying with her when she travels :)
SARAH : Oh my, have the wife heard anything from the "missing" husband yet? I would be so freak out. Hope the husband is fine. Your menu sounds yummy!!
MONET : Glad your dentist appointment went well. I am not as afraid to visit the dentist now that I do not have major dental problem...lol. I am not sure why I was light-headed but I knew I was short of breath while we were singing and praying. I also have breakfast that morning. My blood sugar testing strips are out so I didn't have any to test my bs now but am reordering them.
TECHWIFE : Sorry to hear about your flooded yard, must be quite a mess. We had quite a bit of rain too but luckily we managed to escape the flood.
BOB : Coughs usually take a while to get rid of. Are you able to get to work today?
JACK : Thanks for your concern. I will remember not to overdo again :)
PANCHO : So glad to "see" you. I am so sorry about your surgery but I am glad it is not life-threatening either. See what sacrifice mothers do to become one :) I will definitely keep you in my prayers. Congrats on reaching your goal weight again. You are such inspiration! LOL....that is exactly my thoughts about how fast everyone's elses pregnancy are going while mine is so long...lol. However, I do feel that this pregnancy is moving much faster than my previous one maybe because I have Jess to take care of so I don't focus so much on the pregnancy. This pregnancy is also so much different that my previous one, the morning sickness is less intense and so are others changes that occurred with the hormones raging. My family kept telling me that I am having a boy since it is so different from Jess's pregnancy...lol. We shall see. My due date is on Sept 7.
COUNTRY : I don't like grapefruit so I usually go for pomelo since it is not as tart. I also grew up with it. You are certainly right about how pricey it is, that's why I don't get to eat it often :)
SEBRAY : Glad your exam went well and goodluck with your second exam today. I used to subsribe to flylady but couldn't keep up with the emails and finally during my mornign sickness time, I unsubcribed the emails. My mailbox was clogging :) That is why my house is still in a mess today...lol.
I am not done with my replies yet but really have to go. Will check in later.

Well, I went to H/WF, and now I feel a bit depressed. I ran into a lady from my old church there. She used to act in my children's program there. Great lady..lots of fun. Her husband is a very low key, quiet man who also worked, but as crowd control. Did an excellent job too. She told me her husband has a malignant brain tumor. There are two others from that church who also had the same kind of brain tumor. One died about a year ago, and the other is not doing well, but is still living. There is another younger man there with it too, and another friends husband has it she said. About a month ago, the wife of a couple that used to be at that church died of the same brain cancer. That is like six people in that congregation, or once a part of it, that have that very rare brain cancer. Weird! She told me another friend's husband has melonoma is not doing well. So, I came home much subdued. I guess its to be expected to lose people you know when you get to my age, but its still kind of shocking to me. I have not lost any friends, except a couple who had moved away who were killed in a car accident. I am not sure I am ready to deal with losing friends. Its hard enough to lose parents and aunts and uncles, but wow...people my age?
Ok, sorry for the downer. Be back later!

Its a nice little break in the day somedays for him to come home for 30 min. and a pain in the butt other days. LOL. Well this is day two of no sugar. So far so good. Monet I love reading about your detox. Thats so wonderful you can do that. I have a friend coming over for tea so better hurry up and get things straightened around.

:) It's been a couple of roller coaster days with my mom. She's in the hospital with pneumonia, or that's what she started out with. Long story short= she is havein low blood pressure that they cannot get to rebound, but is alert and in good spirits. They've tried to do some tests but have not yet determined the cause. She is in ICU at Memorial Medical in Savannah which is a "teaching" hospital so we know she is in good hands. We are going down to see her on Thursday afternoon through the weekend, so hoping she is well enough to at least be in a step down room so we can visit her longer. Maybe the eating will not be too bad as there will be lots of opportunity for salads and seafood. Yummy! :hungry: Please continue with the prayers/thoughts/good vibes. I'll check in tomorrow after my weigh in for the week! :goodscale

Oh many prayers for you Thin. My DM was in the hospital last year with her blood very low. 4.8 hemoglobin...should be 12...I think...never did find out what caused it. Really scary and I understand what you are going through. My prayers....
As for that missing man....
It turns out, he is okay. He was okay...he was just being horrible and he ended up going drinking...of all things!!!! His wife, family and everyone else that was scared/nervous etc. (plus all of you guys) who said many prayers etc...are so angry with him!!! I guess his MIL said that she would string him up if he EVER did this again. If it were my husband, I wouldn't probably let him come home until he learned his lesson!!! So, he wasn't injured, stuck in the snow etc...he was just being stupid. Talk about playing with all of our emotions!!!
I will check back later. I am still ticked about my long email lost...well, letting it go now...technology screws up sometimes. Here at Allstate, last Friday, all of our systems crashed for over an hour...and that was massively terrible...

Hey, it's me again. Two times in two days....I'm on a roll.
I just got Lane down for a nap, but she is not sleeping yet, so we will see what happens. I took her to Wal-Mart to pick out some panties today, as she claims she is ready to start potty training. We'll see. She does so well for awhile and then absolutely refuses to go on the potty. She is three in July, and I'd like for her to be potty trained by then. I'm sick of buying diapers and changing them!
I was at 119# today. I've been kinda upset about a "falling out" with my parents, and when I get upset...I forget to eat, or don't have much of an appetite. I know I s/b glad as a lot of people eat when they are upset. I really don't need to lose anymore, and I am making myself eat.
Anyhow...on to some replies:
Country: thanks for the prayers. I am glad to see you are back on track, and trying out those new fruits/veggies.
Monet: Thanks so much for the website info; I will definately check it out. I think the doctor will try to do the surgery vaginally. I am going to ask him why he won't do it laparascopically. I'll let you all know how I am doing when I get back home. I definately won't overdo it. I remember having to take a lot of down time when I had my Breast Red. I know if I try to overdo it too soon that it will set me behind even more. I am going to walk as soon as I get the clearance and wait to do anything else until the 6-8 weeks are up. Good luck getting back on track with your eating once you break the fast; I still cannot believe that you are on day 7, and you haven't passed out yet. I am so bad without food in my system. That seems awfully strange that so many people at the church have the same "rare" type of cancer. Has anyone researched anything in the area?
Arcayne: Way to avoid that temptation. Give yourself a big pat on the back!
Sebray: Congrats on the loss; it sounds as if you are being very realistic about your weight loss goals.
Jack: I will have a pre-op and post-op appt with my doctor, so I will be able to find out a lot more before I go in. He did mention walking being o.k. at a certain point, so I will do that when I can. Thanks for the prayers. Keep up the awesome work with exercising and eating!!
Fillise: Thanks! I do intend to check out that website. Good job on dinner!
Ken: Good luck at the dentist. Have fun with the girls!! Thanks for the prayers. My pregs were completely different; I even carried them differently, and they were both girls.
Toni: Hi!!
Thin: Does your mom typically have low blood pressure? I will keep her in my prayers.
Sarah: Glad the "missing man" turned out to be alright! I can't stand it when I lose a long post....been there, done that!
Well, Lane never did go to sleep and now she is crying to get up, which means we have a cranky evening in store for us.
Gotta run!

hey Nat..if you have any potty training questions..I have 2 kids and they are both trained (I don't know you well enough yet to know if you have gone through this before??) Well, my DD did it herself at 16 months. No kidding..no forcing on my part at all...she wanted to be like her big brother. Oh my goodness, boys are more difficult than girls..and you would think it was the other way around..boys have their equipment so much easier to be trained...just stand there..ya know? haha!!!
I had both of mine in cloth diapers..I think that helped getting the training along quicker. Like I said before though DD just up and did it...no backsliding at all.
Talk to you later,

Just a quick check in before I head home. Have to stop at the nursing home to see my aunt and pack up her clothes. We are moving her to a new assisted living place which is really nice. Want to getted my dinner over and take a nice walk before the rains come.
Monet, is doing the detox more than 10 days safe? Please be careful. 14 pounds is awesome, but I couldn't do that. could there be a problem with a chemical or something at the church? it is very strange that so many people would have the same thing.
Susan, I read that article. Duh! That's what we have been saying for a long time. They say no matter what diet you do, calories count. That's where your portion sizes come in. We have to learn to eat less. Sounds like you are doing good on WW so far. Good luck.
Julia, your "girls night" sounds like fun. Enjoy the warm weather.
Sarah, it happens to all of us. I guess it's the price we pay for technology. Men!!
Toni, we are expecting rain tomorrow afternoon so you will probably get it sooner. Good job on day 2.
Thin, sending prayers for your mom. Hope they find the cause and fix it before you get there.
nat, lucky you, when I'm upset, I want to eat and eat. Wish I could forget to eat.
have a great evening everyone.

Hey, guys. Only have a minute to post. I read that webpage the girl had set up about the Detox, sorry but I'm not interested. I'm afraid that some of you might want to do this just for the weight loss. Just my 2 cents, so no flames. Anyway, not much going on today. Been just kinda lazy today. The most I've done is laundry, which has been all day. Finally, I'm caught up with it. My weight is still up, depressing, but I know that I will see 160 again sometime in the near future. I just wanted to check in..need to get ready to leave for exercise class...
Pancho- I'm so sorry to hear that you need surgery. I hope that everything will go well for you and you'll have a smooth recovery. Good to hear from you.
BOB- loved the pics, glad you're feeling better.

Yeah, heartmom I agree...I read those websites before myself and I think some people just do do it for reduction. I am doing mine for the cleanse..I am getting ready now, spiritually, emotionally and finally, come Friday, physically. I have my ingredients, book etc. I have prepped the family etc.
I do agree with your sentiments though..but, just know that not all of us feel that way.

Fillise: I took a SPED exam yesterday and a bio exam today....im pretty confident that i did good :) (A in SPED and B in Bio)
BOB: LMAO man i LOVE your pictures!!!!! glad u were able to go to work :cheer:
Heart: i agree with you, no one should do the detox for weight loss....i was only posting those links for those of us who would want more info before they went out and bought anything :) im still debating on whether or not to do it...ive always wanted to try it...ive had several 'minor' health problems and gallstones (until my surgery in oct last year) but i was too scared to do it until i knew someone else who had done it (yeah i needed a guinea pig hehe)
well i have some homework to do and im dreading puting all my bad food into DP tonight...but i "should" be ok calorie wise (crosses fingers) and i need to drag my bum to the gazelle......funny that if i dont do it in the morning i dont feel like doing it at all

SEBRAY: First off, you are NOT supposed to mix up more than one half to one day's lemonade. That article by that woman was all wrong. She mixed up three days at a time, and that is a no no. You want the enzymes to be active, and they start to deteriorate after a few hours. I think she did the cleanse for all the wrong reasons too. I am loving the weight loss, but I did this for the detox. It has had a wonderful effect on how I feel. My joints are better, I am sleeping much better. Now that I am getting 'clean', I intend to change my diet dramatically. I may eat 100% raw foods for a while to see how I feel on it.
BOB: Glad you made it to work. Where do you find these pictures???
CINDY: I think I would die without a computer! ! j/k!
PANCHO: They usually get you up soon after surgery and want you to walk. I was up the morning after, and walking the halls of the hospital the whole time I was there. Walking really helps you recover. Just nice, moderate walking. The doctor told me I could go back to Curves at 6 weeks, but my body said otherwise. When I went to work out, my abdomen would get so swollen, and painful, I just waited another four weeks. Just listen to your body and only do what you feel you can handle. I am sure my Lupus slowed down my recovery. Fillise on the other hand, was running through the Atlanta airport, carrying Ms. Belle in a carrier, two weeks after her surgery!
HEART: Right on! There are saner ways to lose weight! :) I do not think the regiment is for everyone. I never thought I could fast for seven days, but I do like the spiritual discipline of it. I figure if Jesus could fast for forty, I probably can for 10.
JACK: I hope you got your aunt all settled in the new place. I don't think I will be going over 10, though I wanted to. Duty calls! I just made a luncheon appointment for Friday, so I will have to start breaking the fast tomorrow to be able to go to the appointment and not sit there while she eats! I guess I could do that, but I won't. It is a long story, but I feel God tugging at me to connect with this woman, in fact I even have prayed about it previously, and was specific that I would wait until she contacted me. She did, so I feel like I need to go. If it were up to me, I would do the detox another week. I guess God has other plans for me. I can always do the detox again later.
SARAH: Wow, I bet that man was in BIG trouble when his wife got her hands on him! What a crazy thing to do!
Ok, time for me to climb inbetween the sheets and float gently off to sleep. I can do this because I will shut the kittens OUT of my room!
Night!

Hey guys....just thought I'd pop in a bit...I hear that sugar busters is recommended to a lot of people who are insulin resistant or have PCOS...so i figured I'd float around and see what i could see.
I went to the Sugar busters web site and nearly had a heart attack when I saw how expensive their food was...holy crap!!! Seven dollars for a personal pan pizza....three fifty for a package of TWO COOKIES ...who buys that stuff?
So, do any of you use sugar busters for health related problems? have you found sucess with the program?
Just wondering....

My mom found the neatest bread by Natures own. It's 100 percent whole grain with 4 or less sugars depending on the flavor.. They have Maple French Toast, a Cinnamon one and a cranberry one (yum). I don't eat a lot of bread but I thought what a neat treat for breakfast sometime. Maybe with a bit of peanut butter. The kids just love it.
Bob...LOL Too funny. So glad you were abl to go back to work. Hope you continue to feel better.
Monet..praying for you as you break your fast. I'm happy for the positive results you are getting.
Heart...I bet you see 160 before you know it. I saw 159 this morning. Just praying I'll see it for WIW. I told Robert there was a day I would have cried to see the scales up to 159 but after jumping up to almost 169 I'll take it.
Sebray.....yeah on acing your test. It's all that hard work you have put into them. WTG
Cindy..I've had strawberries the last couple of days also. They were on sale at Krogers...LOL I've been making a mock smoothie. Not too bad and really filling.
Nat...hey skinny! Hope you start feeling better and can eat again. Thin is good but stress is not. Sorry you are hurt right now.
Jack-K...praying for you Aunt as she adjust to her new home. Jess and I took a mini walk this evening to sneak in that 3 mile. Our neighbor's cow calved recently and the new fella is just too cute. We did stop long enough to take a picture. :)
Thin...still praying for you and your mama.
Toni..wtg on day 2 of sugar detox..one day at a time. ((hugzz))
Arcayne...too bad your mama can't make it. WTG on passing up the emotional eating. That is totally awesome! Keep up the good work.
Sarah...My daughter trained like that. She was almost 2. I took her to the potty one time and she was dry day and night from then on. My oldest son had his own agrenda...LOL But the day he meet his baby sister he decided he was a big boy. Praise God because I didn't think he would ever get it. By the time our fifth child was potty training we were very laid back about the whole thing. :)
Missy...if you happend to pop in I just wanted to let you know you are not forgotten. Can't wait till you can make it back to the board.
Love and hugs,
Crystle

Hi MissMellis! Welcome to the board. I personally don't buy any of that expensive stuff. I do spend a little extra for fresh veggies and fruit to help me stay on plan. The reason I started sugarbuster was because my sister and mom are both type 2 diabetics. For me one of the biggest plusses besides the weight loss has been no more indigestion or swelling in my ankles. This month is my 4th year eating this way.
These ladies are a wealth of information so feel free to ask any questions you might have.
Love and hugs,

Today is my first WW weigh-in so I'm anxious to see what has happened. I go at 9 am.
Last night I had one of the Lean Cuisine spa meals that are made with whole grains. It was salmon and basil and came with whole grain orzo. It was actually pretty tasty for a frozen meal and perfectly fine for SB.
We are supposed to get another three (3!) inches of rain in the next couple of days--this will put us close to 20 inches for the last two weeks. I don't know how much more the ground can take. Flooding is already a problem.
Country--4 years--WOW! That's great. I haven't seen the Nature's Own bread you mentioned, but that's what I buy when I buy bread (most of the time I bake it myself).
Melissa--This is a wonderful WOE for anyone with insulin problems, but I don't think anyone on the board orders the SB stuff. The great thing about this WOE is that you can eat real food. Lean Cuisine is now making a line of foods that are made with whole grains that should be ok and the South Beach stuff showing up in grocery stores now should be ok too (although I thought those were expensive as well). I usually buy just normal food--be sure to read the label to make sure you aren't getting added sugars and that the foods that claim to be whole grain really are.
Monet--Did the kittens let you sleep?
Sebray--Congrats on the exams!!!!
Cindy--I sympathize--my connection wouldn't work on Saturday. I thought my modem had bee fried in one of our storms.
Sarah--Good luck with your cleanse.
BOB--WTG!!! I guess you coughed up that hairball. Belle was worried about you!
Jackie--I have to admit that the portion sizes is something I haven't mastered very well--so I'm really having to learn about that after all this time. No, let me rephrase that. I've known what the proper portion sizes were, I just am making my self actually control them.
Nat--um, I wasn't exactly running through the airport two weeks after I surgery, but my recovery did go pretty well. I think it was a measure of how badly I was feeling before the surgery that I felt so much better immediatly after. I, too, was up and walking the day after. If they can do your vaginally or a lap, the recovery time should be a little easier. Monet and I were both--hmmm, how should I say this--gutted like a fish! LOL!
Heart--Me too on the cleanse. I don't think I could do it. I worry a bit about what it might do to the old metabolism. Monet--do they talk about that in the books? I'm just curious.
OK off to weigh-in. Wish me luck!
Susan

I got on the scale this morning and I've lost 5 lbs!!!! I's not much, but a good start! Hopefully one that I can continue. Over the last few years I have yoyo'd between 200-235 and never gone any lower. I hope I can keep it up and break that barrier soon.
Fillise- This week was my first weigh in too! 5 lbs gone! :dancer:
Country- My son is insulin resistant at 13 so we're trying to eat better as a family. No diabetics in my family, but several on my hubby's side.
Miss- I just buy fresh fruits, veggies, brown rice and ww pasta at my grocery store. I have a tip for you though, when you cook the pasta I boil it, then mix it in with my meat sauce and let it cook together for a couple of minutes or bake it like a lasagne. It seems to help with the chewyness and my kids like it better.
Monet- congratulations on the detox. I'm having enough trouble adjusting to the new eating habits, I admire anyone with the discipline to do a fast like this!
Sebray- congrats on the exams!
Cindy- I always enjoy reading your menus to see if I get any ideas!
Sarah- Good luck on your detox! Thanks for the prayers!
Heartmom- Hope I can be as successful as you've been with the weightloss! Congratulations!
Bob- Way to go!
Jack- they think that they have a good idea of what happened with my mom. They had her on a very strong diuretic for the fluid around her lungs and in combination with some of her other meds, too much fluid may have been lost leading to some kidney shut down. The latest is that once she gets in balance again, she will move out of ICU into a step down room maybe today.
Pancho- mom's BP is usually somewhat low, but not 80/40. Hopefully they have it figured out now though.
We're leaving tomorrow afternoon to head down to Savannah. Hopefully she will be in the new room by then. My kids are anxious to see her and make sure she's Ok with their own eyes. They've heard all the talk this week and are relieved like the rest of us that it was not caused by anything being wrong with her, you know? They live on Tybee Island, but I don't know if we'll be able to catch any rays. :sunny: I think its supposed to rain. Thanks for all your prayers. I'll let you know how it went when I return!

Just a quick Hi to everyone!
It is pushing 80 today in Ohio...
My DF is thinking of possibly doing the detox if I do well on it.
Monet, give me an update?? How are you day 8? 8-right?

Good morning! Its day 8 of the detox and I am going to begin to break the fast today. I will add some orange or grapefruit juice during the day, cut with water. I want to be back to solid foods by Friday afternoon. I feel very good. A number of nagging health problems I had have cleared up. One is the severe joint pain I had. Its MUCH improved. I am sleeping better at night, and I have more energy. This tells me something in my diet is causing some of my problems. Re-introducing foods is going to have to be done very carefully, so I can determine what it is. The two main culprits I am going to be looking at are grains and dairy. Fasting shrinks your stomach, so I am hoping I will be able to eat smaller portions and feel satisfied on less.
It is weigh in Wednesday and so I will report that I am down 15 pounds from last Wednesday morning. Not a typical weight loss, but I have not fasted for 30 years, so it does not surprise me. If I do it again, I am sure it will be less dramatic.
THIN: :cheer: Five pounds is awesome! That is a great start! Remember, if you lose slowly, it stays off better! I am not too disciplined, honest! I think its easier to eat nothing, than to make choices!
FILLISE: I got my :crossed: for your weigh in. The kittens did let me sleep...some! Bast climbed up on me, then wanted to treat the teddy bear like her mother, and nurse! Drives me crazy!
COUNTRY: I am going to look for that NO bread! I have not seen it here yet, though. I used to love to walk down to the pond and watch the cows at my husband's parents house. He was raised on a farm. I was a bit afraid of them until my sister in law showed me how they would run if you tried to approach them!
MISSMELLIS: Welcome to Sugarbusters! I don't purchase that expensive stuff either. You don't need to. My husband and I both do Sugarbusters for health reasons. He has high cholesterol and triglycerides, and my triglycerides were high, but my main reason was insulin resistance. I tried Protein Power and Atkins, but I am also hypothyroid and the thyroid just seems to do better with some carbs, so I lost better on Sugarbusters. ( which is not saying much, since it is so hard for me to lose at all!) When shopping, it is actually easy to find legal breads and pastas, and crackers now. Things like triscuits, 100% whole wheat bread, Hodgson's Mill whole wheat pastas are fine, so there is no need to purchase the expensive stuff. I hope you stick around! We love company! Jack-k and Heartmom have both lost over 100 pounds, so there are big success stories on here. Pancho reached her goal, and has maintained it for a while. Some of us are struggling...but we persevere! It's a great group.
Well, I best get off here and get something done!

But, I feel like I need to respond to the invitation for lunch from this lady, so I will go for it. I can always do the detox again in a month or so.

Tech....I hate when I lose a long post. Sometimes I copy it as I go so I can paste it back if my computer wants to go nuts. Throwing mud is good exercise ya know. ((hugzz))
Monet...don't be suprised if you find red meat to be the culprit on the joints. You have done an excellent job on your fast. I admire your determination.
Thin...WOO HOO 5 pounds is GREAT!
Susan...hope you had a great weigh in this morning. One thing I've learned over the last month is portion control. I've been faithfully putting every single little bite into my fitday journal.
Sarah....enjoy that georgous weather.
Gotta run.

Well, I had some fresh juiced grapefruit. I also made some orange juice, and will try that this afternoon. Both were watered down a good bit. I ordered sprouting seeds from Johnny's Seeds, pulled out my old sprouter, and I am soaking some old seeds to see if I can get them to sprout. The variety of seeds available for sprouting has increased amazingly since I last purchased them two or three years ago. I bet my old seeds don't do well, but I wanted to try.
SARAH: Your avatar will remind me that I only have a month until I have to get into a bathing suit when we open the pool! Good motivation!
TECH: I am sorry about you losing your post. Suggestion: don't preview it. Its just another step that can get screwed up. Just post it, and if you have to go back and make corrections, you can edit it. I won't be able to sleep tonight for wondering what MY long reply said.... Enjoy throwing mud. Its very theraputic. That is why I studied pottery in college.
COUNTRY: Red meat huh? Interesting. I will be sorry if it is. I love a good steak!
FILLISE: :cheer: Yay! Great start! If WW works for you, you will probably see pretty steady losses as long as you are on program. Go Fillise!

If i do the detox at all it will be after the semester is over next month...that way i dont have to worry about being tempted when im on campus...(i have the WORRST willpower EVER)
Kevin and i had a really LOUD but productive arguement last night and i was up REALLY late...think i got 2 hours of sleep  but i feel good emotionally....it was about some stuff we really needed to work out .....
so i was LATE to class this morning (which isnt a rare thing for me in that class unfortunatly :( ) and i forgot to bring in my quizes that were due today...im hopeing she'll let me bring them in tomorrow :crosses fingers:
im doing really good with my water intake lately BUT im back up to 186 today......which i think is because i didnt get much sleep since yesterday i was down to 184.5.....so we'll see what tomorrow says....going to get my 30 mins on the gazelle done now before i collapse from exhaustion....
i cant wait for friday and saturday....friday we're all going on a picnic to the park because kevin is on vacation, since we cant afford to go anywhere for vacation we're just gonna have fun here :) saturday my college is having a family fun day with games and FREE food (love that 'free' word hehe) so we're all going to that....but sadly, sunday i have a paper due, and monday i have an exam, and tuesday i have a BIG paper due, and weds i have an exam, and between all this i have my oldest's soccer practice, house cleaning, and feeding everyone (ya'll know how it goes hehe) .... so yes, in a week or so im going to be BALD!!!!!! its amazing that i even have time to eat
i did read every one's posts but if i dont get up now and do my exercise i wont get it done today so i hope everyone is doing good :)

Howdy:
I just got Lane down for a nap. She was up at 2:30 a.m. vomiting, and did it 3-4 times between then and around 5 a.m., so needless to say, I missed my workout this morning.
WIW: I weighed 119.5#'s this morning, so I'm pretty much staying in that range. I intended to work out hard between now and my surgery, but that hasn't happened yet. I went to the gym on Monday, and got my weights in, but after only 8 minutes on the treadmill, the daycare worker came and got me to get Lane, as she was having a major tantrum and not listening to them. And I wasnt' able to go today. Britt is the student of the week at school, and wants to bring her dog to show the class on Friday afternoon, so I am going to try to go to the gym early on Friday, so we can bring CheyAnne to show the class.
I talked to the doctor's office yesterday, and they have me scheduled for surgery at 2 p.m. on April 27th. I'm going to be starving by the time I get there. They said I couldn't drive for 3 weeks; I'm sure I can drive sooner than that???? My DH is going to be missing a lot of work if he has to take Britt to and from school for 3 weeks; her school is 40 minutes away. I would rather do it now. I would wait for the summer, but then I have to cancel the kids swim lessons and our summer vacation, and that would be a drag for them. I would rather do it when it doesn't impact the kids so much. I am going to check into extended care at the school for Britt for a few days a week, so DH doesn't have to miss so much work.
Sarah: Thank you for the offer on the advice. My oldest DD wouldn't poop in her pants/diaper/pull-up for anything after she was 2 1/2, but it took her all the way to her 3rd birthday before she got the peeing part of it down. I thought it would be a smooth transition for my youngest DD since she watches her big sister, etc...but she is STUBBORN! She wants to do what she wants to do at her own pace, and on her own clock. She will do so well, and then absolutely refuse to do it again. Right now she is motivated with the new panties, and the little surprise bag that she gets to pick out of whenever she goes. I am so envious....16 months???!!! What I would give!
BOB: Where in the world do you find these graphics?? Glad you are back to work.
Heart: Thanks for the well wishes. How's the exercise going? I loaned my Slim in 6 to my sister; she says the Ramp-It-Up is kicking her butt. I told her to just wait for Burn-it-Up. I certainly won't be using them for awhile.
Monet: we all recover at a different pace, and it very important to listen to our bodies, and that is what I intend to do. It's just going to be tough with two young kids who expect so much of me, and I am not one to ask for much help. I am always the one giving, and never taking. I want to make some freeze ahead meals (lasagne, chicken enchilada, etc..) Any other ideas? Good luck breaking the fast. I hope you are able to identify the foods giving you problems. Lactose and wheat are definate problems for me.
MisMeliss: Welcome aboard. I don't think any of us buys any of that SB packaged stuff. If you get the book and read it, you will find that there are many food choices out there. You want to eat plenty of fruits and veggies, and whole grains, and limit added sugars...that's the basic concept. You will get a lot of good ideas and information from this board. I started SB to lose weight, which I exceeded my goal by 10-15 pounds. I now stay on SB to maintain my weight and because it is a healthy way of life, and I want to stay healthy and live long....and teach my kids the best way to eat.
Country: I totally agree!!! Stress can be so damaging to the body, and I am trying to put as much of this behind me as I can and move on without holding in any resentment or hurt.
Fillise: I tried one of those Healthy Choice meals, and didn't like it at all. The chicken was gristly and I didn't like the taste; maybe the salmon would be much better. Congrats on the weight loss; it sure helps to be accountable!
Thin: Congrats on the loss! You can keep it up!! I hope your mom is doing better. I worry about my blood pressure with this upcoming surgery. My BP tends to be on the low side. When I was at the doctor the other day, it was 90 something over 50 something. When I gave birth to my youngest daughter, they had to give me medication through my IV twice to bring my BP back up. Have a safe trip!
Tech: I hate to lose a long post... been there, done that. So sorry!!!
Sebray: Sorry about the argument, but I'm glad you were able to get some issues resolved. It's nice to get it all out on the table instead of keeping it bottled up inside. I am sure you both feel better today. Enjoy your weekend....it sounds as if next week is going to be a very busy one!
Well, I gotta get a few things done while Lane sleeps. I would like to take a nap, but have such a difficult time sleeping during the day. It will be an early night for me tonight.
Take care,
Nat

Hey, guys. Just got thru with today's exercise. I'm bummed, but I'll get over it. As you already know, the scale is way up. However, I was expecting a loss today and it's the same! I'm very angry. I've been doing good for a couple of days with my eating and exercise, so I figured I had lost something. Nope. I'm hoping for better news tomorrow. Here's my menu for the day:
BF- made a fruit platter with yogurt(1 navel orange, 1 granny apple, a few grapes and a strawberry)
Lunch- Pretty fattening, but I was craving it....Egg sandwich made with full-fat mayo, cheese, 2 eggs, 2 slices Nature Own wheat n' fiber bread) and a side salad with a little bit of Ranch dressing FOLLOWED by a spoon of PB.
I ate this at 11, so I'll be cooking supper early or grabbing a snack
Supper- making beef stew...stew meat, tomatoes, green beans, okra, onion, beans, cabbage..

Good afternoon ladies.
I have been at a meeting all morning so I am running late. I am so envious of the big losses this week. I am so proud of everyone. Let's keep up the good work. I was down 1 today. Better than nothing. Why are always so disappointed with 1?
Got in a 3 mile walk and wts last night. It is supposed to rain tonight so may have to hit the TM instead. Can't do 3 miles on that.
Nothing else going on here with me. Plus I am super busy. Talk to you all tomorrow.
BOB, I'm glad you went to work but that was just nasty. Glad you are feeling better. Now stay that way.
Laurie, Hang in there sweetie.
Sebray, funny how exercising in the morning works so much better. Now if I could just drag my lazy butt out of bed 30 minutes earlier. If I had a big arguement before bed, I would never get any sleep. Of course he would be snoring in 5 seconds. Hopeyou get to turn in those papers.
Cindy, glad you got that computer fixed and are back on.
Miss Meliss, welcome. SB is a great way of eating. I Have been doing this 4 years, I originallylost 105 pounds and have gain about 20 back through chemo. Trying to lose it again and I know this is the only thing that works for me. Good luck. Hope you join us.
Country, I love cinnamon bread. We do not get Natures Own here. Enjoy some for me.
Susan, 5.5 pounds is awesome. You should be rpoud. :cheer:
Thin, 5 lbs is awesome  You can keep it up. How is your mom doing today? Have a safe trip.
Monet, my joints ache and would be benefited I'm sure by a detox, but I know I could not do it. So I will suffer. Good luck.
Sarah, Aw 80 sounds wonderful.
Tech, Sorry :grouphug: Feel better now?
Nat, sorry Lane is sick. Hope you don't catch it.
Have a great day.

Hey there everyone!! I WILL post more later, but I have to get my butt in gear right now, overslept big time:) I did take time to weigh in, and I lost eight more pounds this week. YAY!! Not much going on here this afternoon. I am home alone with no car. Tom is working out after work, and James went in late and will be home late I am sure. Laura left an hour ago. I have had a bit of grapefruit juice and orange juice today. My tummy was not happy with the other kinds of juice, but seems to have settled down some now. I am still feeling great, though I am really getting interested in eating again.
JACK: You don't have to fast to detox. There are other detox diets. Eating all fresh fruits and veggies for a few days would do a slower detox but it would work. Eating totally raw..salads, veggies, etc. will detox the system, yet slower. You can include raw nuts, like walnuts and almonds, and dried fruits as well as the veggies and fresh fruits. I intend to continue with raw foods as much as possible. Do you avoid the nightshade family of vegetables? That includes tomatoes, peppers and eggplants, and I think potatoes. Some people with RA find it helpful. I tried it when my Lupus was flaring really badly, but it did not seem to make much difference for me. Of course, back then, I probably did not give it more than a few days before I went back to eating tomatoes! I am so bad!
ARCAYNE: :cheer: Wow! Another 8! You are doing great! You are going to reach that goal in no time! :cb:
HEART: Don't be jealous! You will be down next week, I bet! :)
PANCHO: There are a number of reasons they tell you not to drive for three weeks. One is that the drugs they put in you to put you under do not leave your system for a while, plus you will be on pain meds, and your reflexes are not very sharp on drugs. More important, stretching and turning to look each way, etc, while it doesn't seem difficult, really is after abdominal surgery of any kind. You can pop internal stitches turning too much or stretching. I was not comfortable driving until almost six weeks. I know its hard to ask for help, but really, you should give others the joy of being able to help. It makes them feel good. Don't you feel good when you help others? Freezing meals is a great idea. I did that some. Also, stock up an easy to fix stuff that does not require too much work to prepare. I would get whatever you hubby is good at fixing. :s: You should not lift anything heavier than five pounds for a few weeks at least. A full gallon of milk, by the way, was too heavy for me, and I am not a weakling. It just made my belly hurt when I tried. One thing I did that helped a lot was to get some 'granny panties' a few sizes too large. Cotton of course. They were great for comfort. Also, drawstring stretchy pants to lay around in are good. Even with no incision, you won't want anything on the belly at first. I hope Lane is feeling better. Poor thing! Don't worry...eventually, she will decide to wear underwear instead of diapers. No kid that I know of went to kindergarten in diapers!
SEBRAY: That is probably wise to wait to do the detox until you don't have any pressures on you. Also, if you follow it right, you need to be by a bathroom for a while in the morning! :o The salt water flush really flushes you out! I sure hope you are not bald by the time you get through the next week! Enjoy the park. I used to love going to the park with my kids. We would go to Stone Mountain and have a picnic. I have lots of fond memories of those days.... I hope you got Kevin all straightened out! :s: Seriously, arguements are not all bad, as long as you don't let them continue.
I better go find something to fix for the boys for dinner. They don't care if I am fasting...they think I should cook for them. One night, I told them too bad, find something. They ate peanut butter and jelly and they lived! It will be hard tonight, since I am getting ready to eat and I feel very hungry.

Hi guys. I haven't fallen off the face of the earth. I have been so snowed under with the French class I'm taking at the university that I've barely had time to come up for air. And I don't even really like the class!! I'll be glad when it is over, which is at the end of April. The class is called phonetics and diction, which would seem to involve learning how to pronounce French correctly, and would also involve actually SPEAKING in class. However, the prof has been spending most of his time having us analyse poetry. Yikes!!! My final project is to recite a french poem from memory and turn in a paper analysing the poem, both phonetically and subject-wise. I just hate it!!
I have not been walking. Well .. . I've been walking a little. I usually part off campus and walk a mile to my class, and then a mile back to my car. And tonight my DH and I took a walk, our first in a couple of weeks. I also have started a good French conversational class at the Alliance Française, which is a private org. to foster French. That class is much more to my liking and just what I need to get better. It is 2 nights a week--2 hours per night, and since it overlaps my other class, I've had some very busy days. It just started this week, so it should get better.
Eating has been OK. I have decided to focus on just one day at a time. It was getting too hard thinking about the 50 pounds I wanted to lose. So I have been focusing on just 1 or 2 pounds a week. That will be my goal every week. Just one pound lost is a victory, and 2 pounds is a double victory. I think I can do that!! I really identify with you, Susan. Good luck on the WW, and I'm really glad you are staying with us. BTW, the Gators play AU next year, I think, so we will be coming back up there!!! Anyway, my new plan has been working, and I've lost my 2 pounds this week. :)
Here is the URL for a very interesting article on walking, and the 10000 steps vs. just getting out and walking. Hope it is helpful.

Whew we came through a night of storms last night, but I don't think what we had is anything near what Mississippi got yesterday.
Heartmom--y'all ok after the bad weather yesterday?
Gator!!!! So glad to see you back on the board! I'll have to read that article.
Arcaye---You go girl!!!!!!! Great loss for the week! Remember the feeling of excitement when you stepped on the scale and let it carry you through this week.
Jackie--I hope you can get outside to walk--it really does make a difference deosn't it. I find that the treadmill is awfully hard on my knees if I stay on it too long. REgular walking does better if I'm going to do more than 20 minutes.
Teach--It is so frustrating when those dang computers mess up! I feel your pain.
Nat--The driving thing will be something you have to see how it goes after your surgery. I was cleared to drive short distances about 12 days after my surgery--which was great since I live alone. Folks from my church and other friends were great about making sure I had everything I needed, but it felt like I was released from prison when I got the go-ahead to get behind the wheel of a car again. You will have to teach your DH how to post--or send one of us an email so that we will know your surgery goes ok on the 27th!
Monet--Good luck with breaking your fast!
Have a great OP day everyone!

Good Morning Ladies.
It is a dreary, :rain: day here. I got home last night and we started out on our walk and it was so windy and sprinkling rain. We alked about a mile (30 minutes) and head home. I was afraid to get drenched. I fixed dinner, got my wts in and 17 minutes on the TM. When we went to leave, it had never rained at all. Oh well.
We are going out for dinner with friends so I will try to get my wts in at lunch today.
Arcayne, 8 lbs is awesome. I'm so proud of you. A short term goal is a great idea. I used to reward myself with every 10 pounds I lost. A new purse, pedicure, new top. etc. I think it is a good idea.
Monet, I don't like any of those night shade veggies you mentioned. I probably could do a raw food detox. I'm not much of a meat eater.
Sebray, When I go to taco bell, I get the taco salad and only eat the insides. That should be legal.
Cindy, congrats on the 3 lbs.
Gator, glad to hear from you. Sorry your class is boring and not what you wanted. I think your goal is very reasonable. Good luck.
Susan, I am finding the TM hurts my knees also. Plus outdoors is much better scenery.
have a great day

Ohhhh so many people posted since I did yesterday..my head is spinning!!! No time for replies now...yeah, I am bad..but, I have TONS to do today..even though it is dreary here too..not nearly as nice as yesterday.
Well, it is detox-eve...and I have "shespa" tonight with the ladies of my DHs company...they will give us manicures/pedicures etc...should be fun.
Yeah, the 16 months potty training of DD was great. I don't take any of the credit though, she did it totally herself, but, she is still so short, we put her on the potty still..and she is over 2 now!
Talk to you later.

Morning! This will have to be quick as I should have left 15 minutes ago to take James to his doctor's appointment. He did not get up when I first woke him up so we are late! Grrr.
SARAH: yes, do the tea the night before, and the flush the first morning. I did not do the tea as I did not decide to do the cleanse until I got on the scale Wednesday morning and was disgusted. :) I drank the salt water and made the lemonade and just went for it. I did miss the salt water two mornings, and I don't recommend that. Also, I skipped the pepper, but then put it back and I think it does help.
Will do more replies later! I need to go light a fire under this kid....(ha! He is 26!)

I came here to do my replies yesterday night and when I posted my reply, there was a message that read, "Close/down for maintenance"...argh! Anyway, I did safe my reply so I am going to paste it below. Bear in mind, this post was written yesterday. I will have to catch up on today's posts later:
Gosh, I am way behind in catching up with the posts again :(
I am slowing feeling the effects on the pollen, boy...they are everywhere. Looks like more rain is coming tonight and tomorrow, at least that would help in washing away the pollen for a little while. I had a great time with the "girls" last night. We ate pretty healthy and light so it felt good after the meal.
My menu for today :
Breakfast : 1 ww waffle and a small square of sausage, egg and veggie casserole.
No snack.
Lunch : Baked salmon in Jamaican jerk seasoning, roasted marinated broccoli and curry brown rice.
Snack : Small vanilla ice-cream cone. I gave Jess a treat and ended up getting one myself. An orange.
Dinner : Beef stew, green beans and leftover pasta.
Some replies :
SARAH : I am glad your dad's employee was okay despite his stupidity. Boy, I don't know what I would do if I am his wife??!! What was he thinking??!!! LOL.
PANCHO : You are definitely on a roll, I love to read your posts everyday!! Jess pretty much decided that she was ready and with a little help from me, she did it! She even trained herself to wake up to potty at night since she was 3 years old. Sometimes she wakes me up when she flushes the toilet....lol. I still let her wear training pants to sleep at night just incase she has an accident (my insecurity really..) but so far so good and she is going to be 4 this month. Hope my next child would be this easy too...lol. Oh, training pants didn't work for me, just panty or just plain butt naked. Somehow Jess hated it when she was wet and after 2 to 3 incidents, she remembered to go to the bathroom. I am like you, I can't eat when I am sad, depress or upset as well. Just munch a little whenever you can. Sorry to hear Lane is sicked. I hope whatever she is having will be short-lived. Is she feeling better now?
BOB : Your cracked me up. Glad you went back to work :)
HEART : You have the "never give up" spirit, keep it up and the results will show :)
MS MILLIS : Welcome!! SB is good for everyone, more so for people who have health issues. Like many others here, I don't buy any stuff from SB sites. SB is so easy and sensible to me because you can get everything you need at your grocery stores and some at your local health food stores. I am pre-diabetic and my dr recommended that I prevent full blown diabetes with SB. I love it and so relief that I get a chance to do something about my health before it is too late. SB is really very simple and easy but needs efforts and some planning. I am doing well controlling my blood sugar and don't feel confined or deprived so it has really been wonderful. Hope you stick around.
COUNTRY : Thanks for your info on Nature's Own bread. Those sounds good for treats on weekends :)
FILLISE : I have seen the Lean Cruisine Spa meal and heard lots of good review about it. I might buy it to try, it could save me from going crazy some nights when thinking on what to whip up for Jess and me. Woo Hoo....5.5 lbs, how awesome! WTG!
THIN : Congrats on the 5 lbs!! That is not little at all, that is a BIG accomplishment!!!! Hurray! Keeping your mom in my prayers.
MONET : I am glad you feel so much better with this detox. You did very well. I know I will not last as long as you did. 15 lbs is awesome, congrats!
TECH : I think most of us here can sympathize with you losing your long and well-typed post. I have certainly lost a few with my crazy dial-up but haven't since we have DSL. Scream as loud as you want, let it out...I know your frustration :)
SARAH : Oh the beach....love it!
SEBRAY : Glad you and Kevin had a productive discussion last night and had some issues worked out. Your weekend plans sound good. I love picnic and FREE food too :)
JACK : Woo Hoo...1 lb!!! That deserves a clapping as much as 5 lbs or more so...great job!
ARCAYNE : Wow, 8 lbs! You are on a roll. Great job!
CINDY : I hate when I can't get online, seems like I rely on it too much especially now that I am back to my normal self. Hope the tech can find out what the problem is. Congrats on the 3 lbs loss, that is an awesome results. You will reach where you want to be in no time. Great job!
Got to call it a night. Night all.

BOB SPOKE TOO SOON!!!!!
Had to leave work yesterday and go back to the Dr.....the GOOD NEWS is that I don't have pneumonia.....the BAD NEWS???? I'm home from work again today!!!
THE EVEN WORSE NEWS????? I'M LOSING MY BOSS....THE ONE I'VE HAD FOR THE LAST 16 YRS!!!! Beginning Monday, we will be reporting to someone new....someone that none of us (8 people) like..even remotely!
BUT...as some of you might know, the Hospital world changes on a daily basis.
We've just been lucky that we haven't lost Brenda before now. Brenda did talk to me yesterday before I came home and encouraged me to look in the Business Office and learn something new (or should I say brush up on something I did years ago). I'm so upset by this "move" I can't even begin to tell y'all....We're spoiled and Brenda would tell y'all this herself. I could go on and on, but it won't change things.....BOB is NOT HAPPY!!!
SUSAN...Your STORMS ARE MOVING BOB'S WAY!!!!
GIRLFRIEND....YOU ARE ON http://pages.prodigy.net/rogerlori1/emoticons/fireball.gif with that weightloss....
Ladies....I've got to go lay down...I'll be back....I PROMISE!!!!!

Good afternoon from detox land! Its day 9...and I just ate the first solid food I have had since Tuesday, March 30! I had a small piece of watermelon. So far, so good. Unfortunately, the watermelon seems to have unleashed the monster within, and I am feeling ravenous. I will probably have half a banana in a bit, and hope that takes care of it.
I stopped at the store and bought a few items to put in a veggie soup. I may or may not make it though. I still want to eat raw as much as possible. I am trying to figure it out still, so I got some stuff to eat raw- like avocados and spinach.
The doctor's visit went well. I waited in the reception area while James saw the doctor. He will indeed need to have surgery to repair the hernia and hopes to get it scheduled to coincide with Memorial Day, when he has an extra day off. Traffic was brutal, but then we were leaving right at lunch time, and there are three big hospitals and a huge medical office center on the four corners of the intersection where we were! The area is fondly called 'Pill Hill'.
I have a meeting tonight, so I better go prepare. I will be back later to do replies.

I don't have time for replies today, but wanted to give ya'll the latest report on my mom. They moved her to sort of a step down room this morning. Still in CCU but my dad says there is less "life support mchinery" to look at in this room, so makes you feel a lot better! Haha! He is such a joker. He refers ro burial plots as "parking places" just to give you an idea of their personalities. :dizzy: Anyway, they took the lung drainage tube out of her back this morning and a couple of other improvements. She has had the same nurse yesterday, today and she will also be on tomorrow. Dad told her that we are coming and that my kids are "about 12 yrs old". They are in fact 10 and 13, but my daughter is developing and growing to where she can easily pass for 12. The nurse asked mom if she would like to see them and if we take them during her shift tomorrow, she will "get them in". So we'll be off to Savannah later this evening. I'll post an update when we return. THANKS SO MUCH FOR ALL OF YOUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS! :thanks:

Howdy:
Monet & Fillise: THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE HYS. SITE; I WAS ON IT ALL NIGHT. And, I think you may have saved me some grief in the long run. I have decided to cancel/postpone this surgery for now. The hyst. part of it didn't scare me as much as the cystocele (bladder) repair. There is a section on that board for this exact thing, and it appears as if NOONE has had good results form this surgery, and it set many of them up for numerous surgeries. I know the things I can do to avoid it getting any worse (avoid picking up Lane, as she is 36 pounds now, avoid doing squats at the gym with weights, avoid doing abdominal exercises, etc...). There is even something called Pelvic Floor Therapy that I would like to look into. Some of the women mentioned using premarin cream, but I haven't hit menopause yet, so I don't know that I should use that or not; it's supposed to strengthen the pelvic floor. I am going to continue to research, and try to put it off as long as I possibly can. The success rate is not very high (and that's just looking at a 5-year success rate). I wanted it to help resolve some of my problems, not cause a bunch of new ones.
Monet: I'm sorry to hear about James' hernia repair surgery; I hope all goes well for him.
Gator: Good to see you. It sounds as if you are awful busy. What a good attitude about the daily/weekly goals. It is easier to stay focused that way.
Jack: I think why we are disappointed when we only lose one pound is because it is so darn easy to gain one, but pure torture just to get one off. Keep up the great work, and you will continue to see those numbers go down. How do you workout during your lunch hour?
Arcayne: Good luck making your goal!
Sebray: I guess sometimes you have to get into those men's faces and tell them how it is...glad all is better.
Ken: I think I kept Britt in pull-ups at night until she was almost 4 1/2; she didn't need them, but I thought she did. Lane is feeling better today; thanks for asking.
BOB: So sorry you are losing your boss; that is so hard! Sorry you are home sick again too. Hang in there; it has gotta get better!
I was at 119#'s this morning. I hope to get to the gym on Friday and Saturday mornings...no more squats and no more abdominal work though :( .
Gotta run!

PANCHO: I was just flying by and read your post! I am glad the hystersisters site helped. I agree that if you can postpone the surgery and try other methods, go for it. I wish I had done more research before I had mine. I had huge fibroids and I felt I was old enough for it not to matter much. It does. I hope the alternative stuff works, and if it doesn't, perhaps in a few years, if you have to have the procedure done, they will be better at it! :) I am glad Lane is feeling better.
THIN: That is great news on your mom! Have a safe trip to Savannah. You dad sounds like a hoot!

Hey, everyone! The board is kind of slow tonight.
I had a meeting here for the arts festival tonight. It was somewhat productive.
I ate a light fruit supper tonight. I had some Charoset, which is a recipe from the Jewish Seder meal. Its apples, walnuts, dates, cinnamon, agave, and a dash of port wine finely chopped to look like mortar. I love the flavor, and its all raw, so I fixed some. I don't have much taste for anything heavy. I especially am not interested in meat quite yet. I plan to continue to eat as raw as possible, and see what happens.
Its awfully late, so I think I will do replies in the morning.
Good night! Sweet dreams!

TGIF,
Our dinner was great last night. We went to a place called Chedders. Don't know if it is a national chain or not. I had a dijon chicken breast covered with mushrooms with mixed veggies and brocolli casserole. It was served on rice and I did eat some of it. But I got a go box and brought half of it home. Only had 1 glass of wine while waiting and 3 glasses of water. Everyone was complaining about how full they were. I was feeling very pleasant. In fact, a little hungry when we went to bed. That's a good thing.
I was so involved in watching the Pope's funeral this morning I was almost late for work. Glad it is spring break here and traffice was light.
No big plans for the weekend.
Sarah, good luck on your detox. Man do I need a pedicure.
Sebray, congrats on the 1/2 lb. Every little bit helps.
Bob, Girlfriend, what are we going to do with you. Do you take vitamins? Sorry about losing your boss. She is probably a friend more than a boss after that many years. Don't p**s off the new one!
Monet, I heard about those potatoes on the news, but have never seen them in the stores. Sorry about James' surgery. Hope all goes well.
Thin, great news about your mom. Enjoy your visit and have a safe trip.
Nat, Bladder repair is a tricky thing, My niece had it done at age 28 and I don't know of any problems she has had. Hope the exercise work for you. Maybe I should do them too. I have free weights that I keep at the office. I just go into the conference room or office that no one is in and do the program. I mainly do arms and back exercises that doesn't require laying on the floor. Takes about 20 minutes.
Have a great day, be back later.

Good Morning from Detox land! This is the last day...then detox land will pass to Sarah! Breakfast was lemonade, and a banana. Lunch will be at my fav Japanese restaurant, so I will have salad, miso soup, and I am planning on ordering Chicken Teriyaki with brown rice, unless they have something better that I am not aware of. I might be tempted to order a cucumber roll, but I kind of think I won't.
JACK: What time this morning did the funeral start? I may go down and turn on the TV and watch some of it. Good for you doing your weights at work! I bet that is a good way to perk up if you are sleepy! I am going to try the potatoes, I am intrigued! I guess the hernia repair is a heriditary thing. Tom had it done years ago.
SEBRAY: I hope the tests and papers are going well, and you still have some hair!
BOB: What are you going to do with you? You need to double your vitamin C, cause you need all the help you can get!
KENG: Are you feeling better after the rain washed some of the pollen out of the air? I don't think it helped much...but there are puddles of yellow all over my yard! I love Georgia, except for the two weeks of the pollen torture.
SARAH: Did you start the detox this morning? I had a terrible time getting that quart of salt water down in the morning... You can take the detoxland title now. I will eat a more normal lunch today. :) I was down another pound this morning, so the total is 17 pounds. Not bad...of course, I have a lot to lose, so I am sure that has something to do with it.
FILLISE: Are you feeling like a duck yet? Do we need to send out a boating party to rescue you? I don't know about you, but I am kind of ready for a few days of sunshine in a row...
HEART: I hope all is well with you...
COUNTRY:  All the rain here is slowing down our garden prep...sigh.
I guess that is it for me. I hope everyone is doing great! As for me, I think I am going to go skin a couple of naughty cats! :s:

Hello from soggy Auburn! I have an appointment in a little while and think I may have to swim out to the car!:p Fortunately it is not supposed to rain any more for a few days. We've had over 20 inches in 2 weeks!
Monet--I'm growing webbing between my feet down here. Oh, wait a minute, it might be mold from everything being so damp! How are y'all faring? Sorry to hear about James' surgery--but he will have an expert in the house to take care of him! Not to mention all those kitties!
Jackie--I watched a good bit of the funeral too (Monet it was on at 4 am). I'm not Catholic, but have admired the man for many years. Is Louisville gearing up for the big Derby festival? I will miss having my party this year since I will be in Italy the first weekend in May.
Sebray--I'm suspicious of most of the newfound "lowcarb" foods. When I read the labels I still see white flour and sugar. But if it were truly lowcarb a white potato would be nice!
Nat--I think it is a wise decision to try non-surgical treatments first. You can always come back and have the surgery later. I've never regretted mine, but with the stage 4 endometriosis I had, there really wasn't any other option (not to be gross, but it had invaded my colon--OUCH!).
Thin--that's great news about your mom! Sounds like you parents have a good sense of humor and that's always helpful to recovery.
BOB--Another hairball? Sorry to send the rain your way, but we had to get rid of it somehow!:s: So far the WW thing is working pretty well. I actually find that I have to make a conscious effort to get all my points in. The great thing is that it is mostly the same as SB for me except that when I have to grab a sandwich on the road, I can do it without feeling like I've gone off track. For me that was always a license to say "Oh well" and eat off program for the rest of the day/week/month--you get my drift!
I've got a meeting in a few. Have a great OP day everyone!

Short because I am WAY TIRED! I got up at 4am to watch the papal funeral...it was awesome!
Okay, last night...my DH (and I am not using the D as Dear in this case) gave me HORRIBLE DIRECTIONS....and I ended up driving around for 2 hours and never getting to the event. I was majorly upset because he had me "going north on 71"..etc etc...where was I supposed to go..the lake??? canada??? Well, never got my pedicure. But, I came home to comfort foods of some s/f f/f ice cream and some coffee.
Detoxland, day 1 -- I drank the tea last night, and this morning got 1/2 of the quart of salt water down...and then about puked! I drank another cup of the tea because I will not be able to do the salt. Just NO...I can't do that...I am strong, but that is a terror worse than hanging by your fingernails.
The lemonade is a really neat taste...especially with the cayenne. I have a feeling I will have to buy some more maple syrup before these 10 days are through. I made 6 glasses this morning for myself for the day, I am not going to be home with my ingredients...otherwise, I will make them "as I go along" but, I think making a little bit of a stockpile isn't horrible, is it??
Oh by the way, yesterday, I was given the most horrible flack about this from DM and DGM about this (grandmother)...that I shouldn't do it, it isn't medically founded etc. And then came the guilt trips about them "worrying about me" and that I have "two kids and I am hurting myself" etc etc.
Well...I didn't let it get to me...
I will check back later,

SARAH: I mixed up six or eight servings, since I was using my juicer, and did not want to wash it eight times a day. It seems to have worked ok. You just don't want to mix up three days worth...one day is ok. Not ideal, but ok. Tell your relatives who are giving you flack that if Jesus could fast 40 days, you can certainly semi fast for ten! The lemon juice and maple syrup give you some energy, its not like you are not eating or drinking ANYTHING for ten days. Good luck!
FILLISE: The storms seem to have dumped all their water before they got here. We got a good bit of rain, but nothing like they were predicting. I hope you had a nice swim to your car! Are you going to find any time to come to Hotlanta before you go to Italy??
Off to light a fire under my late late son! He is supposed to be to work between 9 and 10, and its almost 10:30! sigh I have tried to wake him up three times already! Whats a mother to do?

The coffee is brewing, the sun is shining and I'm up and moving....a perfect morning. Hopefully I can get everything done and take an early walk again. Jess and I really like the morning walks. That way I can sometimes sneak in a second walk in the evenings.
Monet...enjoy your lunch. I've never had Japanese only Chinese. I love the spicy dishes. Hope you guys get some relief from the rain. I read the site you sent on the potatos. It seems like they are lower carb but still what I would call a high carb food.
Susan...don't forget the floaties. ((hugzz))
Jack-K....sounds like a really neat resturant if everyone comes away full. We've been to a few places where I have to feed hubby again when we get home.
Sarah...The salt water is probably important to keep your potassium up from the dieters tea. I don't know for sure I you should probably at least drink a little every day. But I do agree with you about yucky...I'd never be able to get it down.
Poncho....not sure exactly what they were going to do to your bladder but my mom and sister both had them lifted and tacked into place with no problems. I hope the exercises do the trick for you. Avoiding surgery when you can is a good thing.
Bob...sorry you are losing your good boss. I hope the new one ends up being a treasure as well. Hope you feel better soon.
Thin....it's great to hear your mama is doing better. What a sweet nurse to sneak the kids in. I think sometimes family is the key to faster recovery.
Sebray...hope you have a great day in your classes. Did your teacher let you turn in the late papers?
Arcayne, Heart, Cindy, Ken, Miss Meliss ((Everybody)) The coffee is calling so I have to scoot and get their breakfast made.
Love and hugs,

From what the Burrough's book says about the salt..it is just to pass more of the bad stuff through your system to get it out...like yet another laxative type thing...I might try it again..but it is highly unlikely...I will refer back to the book and other things I have read...I think I am not the only one who can't do the salt. In Glickman's book...it says that you can replace it with another cup of tea...still I may try a little salt..it is horrid!

Good morning...
I couldn't get myself up this morning...still feel tired. I wonder what I did last night..lol. Dh get home after 4am this morning because of the Pope's funeral. Why, he works in a news station so everything that happened around the world affects his schedule...lol. He is still snoring away in the room :)
Nothing much planned today so dd and I might stay home most of the day. I really do not want to go out unless I have to because the pollen is starting to get to me. I never knew what allergy was until now :(
As for the low carb potatoes, I have tried it few weeks ago when I was craving for some potatoes. I bought mine from Publix. It looks like Yukon Gold and definitely less starchy. 1 serving is 18 gram, minus 3 or 4 grams of fiber...I think (not sure of the exact numbers) for 1 potato (not sure what size as they are few different sizes in one bag but I imagine it has to be medium, not big). I think it tastes good and I did get my cravings off. I do not mind eating this potato especially when I have strong cravings for some potatoes. That is definitely a treat :) Oh, I also found some SB brand stuff in Publix. I remember seeing the ww pasta and don't remember what else. Don't think I will buy them unless they have something I really like. Well...glad to know my options are getting wider as time goes.
My menu for today :
Breakfast : 1 ww waffle, 1 small square of egg, sausage and veggie casserole.
Snack : Fruits.
Lunch : Baked crab, shrimp and fish casserole, mixed green salad with cucumbers, cherry tomatoes and olives. Baked sweet potatoes.
Snack : Fruit and nuts.
Dinner : Most probably same as lunch as I predict I will have some leftovers.
Some replies :
BOB : I am so sorry about losing your boss. It is certainly hard to find a wonderful boss. {{{hugs}}}
THIN : A sense of humour definitely helps in tough situation sometimes. Looks like your dad is trying to make the best of every situation. Keep us updated on how your mom is doing.
PANCHO : Do as much research as you want....it helps to keep informed and feels comfortable about what you want to do.
JACK : I have not heard of Chedders. Your dish sounds so yummy. You did great as usual!
MONET : Uh....Japanese food for lunch today....lucky you! lol. I will be thinking of you at lunch time today and drooling as well...lol. I am not sure if the rain helps but I know staying indoor did. Does the pollen season lasts for 2 weeks only?
FILLISE : I was expecting more rain that what we have got. I know we "Georgians" got lucky this time. Your comment about swimming out to the car gave me a chuckle :) Yep, lets hope we stay dry for a while.
SARAH : I hate getting lost, glad you found your way home though. Yikes, salt water definitely is a challenge. I can imagine your horror drinking it. Hope your day 2 goes well.
I should go and do something productive around the house. The whole morning was like a blurr to me. Oh, this little one in my tummy has been moving like crazy the last 2 days. I know he/she has grown quite a bit since a week ago because I am feeling stronger moments and dh has felt it too. What a relief to feel the baby :)

James was late. And he seemed totally unconcerned about it. I wish I could communicate to him how inconsiderate it is, but at times, he is oblivious! I just had a snack...my first cooked food in ten days. I had a few small red potatoes. I am not sure if they are good for breaking a fast, but they were something that really sounded appealing. All I have eaten up to now was fruit, and a bit of walnuts. It was nice to have something salty for a change!
SARAH: The salt water flush does get easier. Just chug as much of it as you can. I never got more than 3/4 of the quart down! What it does is pass right through the stomach and wash out the intestines. That washes toxins out before they can be reabsorbed. At least, that is what they say it is for, and it certainly gets things moving. Supposedly, the salt is to make the water the molecular weight of blood, and so it is not absorbed by the stomach, just pushed on through. I don't know if this is scientifically true, but it sounds good!
KENG: Pollen season is really bad for just a short time. Usually it is when the pine trees are throwing out their pollen..which is about now. Rain helps a lot, and washes it away. A few more good rain storms, and it will be all gone! I wish you lived closer! I would take you to the Japanese restaurant for lunch! Their food is good, and she is very health concious...so there is NO MSG, and she uses all healthy stuff. The brown rice is really good, and last time she served us some unusual variety that was the best brown rice I have ever eaten!
COUNTRY: I agree that the potatoes are still not 'low carb' but more reasonable for fullfilling a craving. The salt water in the detox diet is to wash the system out each day. The salt keeps the stomach from absorbing it, and therefore pushing it, in bulk into the intestine. Its an interesting concept. It seems to work too. Lucky you with the sun! It is lighter here, but still no blue sky! :( Japanese is pretty different than Chinese. I bet you would like it. Its not spicy, but the dishes are just a genius mixture of flavors! Like sushi... And teriyaki. I think its a bit more simple than the Chinese cuisines, and that simplicity gives it a feeling of elegance.

Posting again...sorry everyone...I just seem to be having more time to post...
Question for anyone who has done the detoxes...Is it just me or is this really hard the first day? I guess I am just a big loser..but, I was up since 4am..and I really am needing my coffee right now..lol! Haven't had any...though...and I don't know if I am just "used to eating" but, I seem hungry. I have made my kids food..my DF food..and soon my DM food...and then I have to go to work..toting some lemonade with me. Oh, will these days get easier??
Okay, just my two cents worth complaining right now...sorry.

I am half way thru making lunch and waiting for the fish fillet to cool down a bit before I break it into bit chunks for the seafood casserole I am making for lunch. I also have the sweet potatoes in the oven so I am pretty much set. I love it when I can cook the entire meal in the oven :)
I am still feeling tired and my tummy is feeling heavier than usual. It is getting slightly uncomfortable. I feel like I have to start holding my tummy when I walk...LOL.
Some replies :
COUNTRY : Sounds like a perfect day over where you are. I can't complain here either since we do not have rain as what the weatherman predicted. ope you get both of your walk in :)
MONET : It is hard to be a mother isn't it? Well, if James is not concern about being late for work, then you shouldn't. I know it is easier said than done anyway :) I wish I live closer to Buford since I love going there to get the fresh veggies and seafood, especially the asian veggies and fruits. I have driven downtown with dh once but hated it so I am really not looking forward to drive out of my slow paced, city...lol. I am really taking it slow and trying to gain more experience and confident in driving as I go. I am very comfortable driving around my county as long as I know where I am going but not anywhere downtown or up north yet. I wish I could be at the Japanese Restaurant too, that would be so nice.
I cannot believe I am all caught up with the posts for now..lol. Anyway, I better get back to making my lunch. Will check in later.

SARAH : First day is always hard for any new changes/challenges. Detoxing is definitely very hard and I cannot imagine it being easy at all. When I had my colonscopy procedure done, I was asked to not eat any solid food for 48 hrs and only drink certain drinks and took a laxative twice in 48 hrs. The hardest part was the laxative, very nasty but it was also so hard to not eat anything but only drink certain liquid. I couldn't wait for that 48 hrs to pass. I know my experience probably is not the same but since Monet had gone thru the exact detox, she might be able to help you better. {{{hugs}}

Thanks guys. Monet seems to have handled herself better than I am...I look up to her...(you, Monet)--I feel like such a big baby because I just want to quit this right now, lol!! I expected it to be hard, but, this is very very very hard...just not normal. I am used to my "usual" and I never thought to include those changes into this. I left the house today, made my DM a beautiful salad and I wanted just a little bite..nope..didn't have any. And, my two beautiful babies are making pizza for dinner..homemade..them...and I want some, but..I keep telling myself..this is just for 10 days...and then life is normal again.
Sorry again guys..I am sure I will be okay soon. I am remembering...I wanted to do this...no one is putting me up to it. I just think the fatigue is getting to me too...up since 4, no coffee...etc etc...

Good afternoon Ladies.
Can't wait for this day to be over and start the beautiful weekend. Sorry your Ga gals. Hope your rain stops soon.
Monet, the funeral started at 4:00 am. I only caught the end of it. It was very moving. Good luck with your real food again.
Susan, Yes the town is buzzing already. It is even more exiciting as the company I work for is the one doing all the 80 million dollars renovation. I get to go out there once a week and see what's going on. It is really hopping out there now.
Sarah, I'm so sorry you didn't get to the party. You did good in only eating SF ice cream as comfort. Did you take some of it out on DH? Good luck on your detox.
Country, enjoy the sunshine and your walks.
Ken, how exciting to feel the baby. I remember those days. My oldest hardly ever moved. it always worried me. She was such a quiet baby and is still very quiet.
Bob, I hope you are better today.
Have a great weekend.

Back from lunch! I was a pig. I intended to eat only half, as the portion was generous, but I kept eating! Next thing I knew, it was gone! :o I had a salad with ginger dressing, chicken teriyaki on a bed of brown rice, and green tea.
SARAH: The first two days were the hardest for me. I had headaches, and my stomach was growling. By the third day, I felt great. Hang in there! It will get better. All the cravings eventually go away, and I was fixing dinner for everyone and not at all interested in eating any of it by the third day. Just take it day by day, hour by hour. Try to keep away from food for a day or two if you can, so it doesn't tempt you. Drink the lemonade when you feel hungry. You can have up to 12 servings of it a day. I kept it to six the first few days, since I am hyperinsulinemic, and I thought it would help to have less. Just keep in mind how good you will feel once you get past the withdrawal. :)
JACK: I am sorry I missed the funeral. I am pretty bad about reading the news. If Tom doesn't tell me, I often go along in ignorant bliss for days. I happened to see online when the Pope was ailing and not expected to live through the night and kept up with the news on that, or I would not have known until Tom thought to mention it. Maybe I ought to listen to news radio when I am in the car, so I know what is going on in the world!
Off to think about what to fix Tom for dinner. I don't think I will be able to eat anything! I am very full from lunch!

Okay guys...don't have me...Monet, you especially...after all my careful consideration about the detox...I have decided not to do it now. I know I built you all up and I guess I am just not as strongwilled as some of you are. I am happy with my SB! and maybe some other time I will try the detox again. I can understand if you are all "fed up" with me....
I hope you understand.

Monet, I don't think I can eat half portion either. The menu sounds so good. I love teriyaki. There was this Japanese restaurant in Malaysia that I visited once in a while and everytime I went there, I ordered their Teriyaki chicken. I love the ginger dressing too, infact I almost bought it to try when I saw it at Publix last week. I might get it this week. Hopefully it is as tasty as the one I had at the Japanese restaurant.

Hey everyone! I was surprised when I decided to read up on the Pope's funeral, so I would not be an ignoramous, to find that Prince Ranier of Monaco died! Its kind of sad that his son is a batchelor, as the Grimaldi family has ruled Monaco for just about forever. I wonder who, if anyone, will succeed Prince Albert, if he has no son to inherit after him?
SARAH: Of course we are not fed up with you! The detox is NOT for everyone. If you want to detox, maybe prepare for it in the future by eliminating caffiene slowly, then eat a light, grain free diet with lots of fruit the couple days before you start. I am surprised I made it as long as I did. It was not easy at first, but then, I was desperate to find something to help heal the problems I have that the medical doctors have not been able to solve with drugs. Time will tell if it has helped, but I am deeply grateful for the pounds I lost. :grouphug: We love you even if you eat ice cream and cookies every night. :) Seriously, we all fail to accomplish what we want frequently.
KENG: I have a recipe for a ginger dressing that is really good. I may have posted on here, but if not, I will find it and email it if you want it. I like to mess with the amounts on it, and use more ginger than it calls for. Surprisingly, I was getting hungry about half and hour ago, and had to eat a piece of fruit!
CINDY: I hope you can get your connection issues settled! I hate computer problems! They can be SO frustrating! Way to go on the loss! :cheer:

Hey, guys. I have to confess about my eating lately and why. I've been soooo stressed the past couple of weeks and I see now that I am definetly an emotional eater. Robby has not worked AT ALL since LAST Thursday. We have nothing to fall back on, so I had to take a loan out to pay my bills this week and have money for groceries and to run on. It has really taken a toll on my mental state. I hate worrying about bills and Robby and I have been fighting because of it. Which doesn't help. At least he drove around all day giving his business card out and talking to contractors. I pray he has something to do by Monday. Anyway, I ate 2 brownies, 1 nutty butty, 1 candy bar, also had barbecue and 3 helpings of homemade macaroni yesterday. Today I stepped on the scale and I'm up to 168. I hate feeling so out of control. And I hate gaining weight even more. Today I have been legal, so that at least is good. But I feel so drained. I think it's a case of some major PMS. I just want to go to bed, but I'm keeping myself up for now. Tomorrow, we are eating with friends. Ribeyes. That's okay, I'll have a sweet potato while they have white ones, plus probably make a big salad. I just have to get back on track. Well, I just wanted to pop in and vent a little.

Well , I have a few minutes now that Im back home and thought I would post some more. I went to get the highlighting/low lighting done on my hair ( after getting a new style last weekend) and it did not come out at all like I wanted so I go back wed. after work to have it redone and hopefully it will be right this time. It looks nice but not what I wanted and the place I go to guarantees their work so no problem redoing, and besides I figure what Im paying I definitly want it to be what I went in there for ( plus my niece is my hairstylist so shes making sure its right) . We had a beautiful day today, the rain left last night and it was sunny all day. Im so hoping it will stay around for the whole weekend.
Monet - my dd tried those potatoes and didnt really like them but then she does not do low carb so she eats all of the “other” stuff so maybe thats not a good opinion to use lol
Poncho- I don’t know anything about the bladder issue but wish you the best !
Bob- Im still praying for you to be getting better
Sarah- You don’t know till you tried with the detox and if you don’t feel comfortable with it than it was a good idea to stop.
Heartmom- (((((hugs))))) hang in there !

Hey everyone! Wanted to get on here and post my dinner menu. Mid afternoon, when I started feeling hungry after my gargantuan lunch, I ate 2 small red potatoes, boiled, and an orange. Dinner was some charoset ( about 1/4 of a cup so maybe 1/4 of an apple's worth) some raw broccoli, and three tiny slices of Tom's steak. I will be very interested in seeing what the scale says tomorrow. I hope I can maintain the loss, but I am not expecting to. I will be happy if I can keep MOST of it though! :)
HEART: I hope and pray Robbie has work on Monday. I know it can't be easy dealing with the worry. Just remember that eating doesn't make you feel better...it makes you feel worse. I am sorry you have to deal with all this. I admire you so much, because you are so strong- you deal with so much more than most of us with such poise and competence. I am confident you will handle this latest crisis as well. :grouphug: We are here for you to vent whenever you like....
CINDY: Thanks for the opinion! I am going to try them, mainly because I want to enter their recipe contest. :) I need to actually make the recipe to get the proportions correct. I am hoping they are good. They are expensive...but if they are an occasional treat, I don't mind paying a bit more. I hope they get your hair right on Wednesday. That is nice that they have the guarantee.
Off to get something done!

Dinner was the bomb this evening. I had a mixed green salad with alfalpha sprouts on top then my fish on top of that. It added just enough flavor I didn't need any dressing. The wilted greens were awesome.
Monet...hoping the scales stay down for you. Sounds like you've done a great job on returning to eating.
Sarah....((hugzz)) there is nothing wrong with changing your mind.
Heart..I am so sorry for all you are going through right now. Praying that no matter the circumstances you will be able to get control of your emotional eating. Of course I'm also praying for work and finances.
Cindy...Hope they fix your connection soon. Can't wait to see your new hair style and color.
Jack-k...We didn't get that second walk in but the first one was so nice. It was the perfect temperature and beautiful out. Hope you have a nice weekend.
Kenj....I'm so happy for you. It's such a relief when they start kicking and moving around. My last baby was so lazy toward the end we had to test him to make sure he was okay. He was just mellow and still is..LOL
EVERYBODY....We can stay OP this weekend. When temptation comes around send it packin'.

Good Morning! Its a beautiful day here - sun is shining and the temps seem nice and mild. I need to get dressed and run over to the grocery store. I can't believe I actually did not go yesterday! I feel like I am there all the time! I need a second fridge or something, so I can avoid going every day. I am still sleeping pretty well and feeling good. I did not get on the scale this morning. I may after nature calls... ;) I think one thing that is different since the detox is that I am just not interested in eating much. The cravings for bread, and carbs seems to be gone. I plan to eat mostly fruit and veggies and some meat. If I feel like its getting out of control, I may do the detox again...or do a juice fast with fruit and veggie juice. I am sick of being grossly overweight, so its time to DO something. If regular diet and exercise don't work, then its time for something a bit more drastic. Diet pills are not for me, and I don't like the way the medications the doctor gave me make me feel. Time to try something different.
COUNTRY: The fish on the salad sounds good. What kind of fish did you use, and how was it cooked? I can't have alfalfa sprouts, but I am starting to sprout seeds again, and I have radish and onion started, and broccoli ordered and on its way. I could try them instead.
SEBRAY: I did get a chuckle out of your typos. I figured you were REALLY tired! You did pretty well at the birthday party. Remember, this is a lifestyle and not a 'diet'. Good luck on your papers this week! I am praying you get it done on time, and well.
I will check in later! I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Monet: i know what you mean about needing something drastic and im not the kind to take diet pills either....when we get back ive got to buckle down and finish my papers and then hopefully ill have time tomorrow to clean the house

The scales were nice to me this morning. It's funny how they can be our friend or our foe. Hopefully I won't eat like a snorker this weekend. For some reason weekend and eat too much seem to go hand in hand. :)
Monet...I just cooked it with some shallots in a little bit of water in the frying pan. I have this seasoning by Tones that is called lemon garlic and it's chuncky. I push that into the fish and it taste sooooooooo good.
Sebray...hang in there. Just recently I was right where you are. I was up about 12 to 15 pounds depending on the day. And it wasn't budging for anything. Once you get a break from school and can focus on you I bet it starts to fall off. It really is harder to lose pounds a second time around. You were tired for sure last night...LOL
Hope everyone has a SUPER weekend.

Good morning...
I have been so darn lazy in the morning the last few days. This morning, I woke up about 8am but stayed in bed until 8.30 am. I woke up to make Jess breakfast and had some myself and then went back to bed...not really sleeping, just laying on the bed but did doze off once or twice for a short period of time. Finally, at 10.30am, I was actually too tired from laying on the bed and had to get up...lol.
Today, a girlfriend and her daughter will come by to visit. I am not exactly looking forward to it but just want to get it over with. She is not exactly someone I enjoy hanging around with but yet my heart tells me that it is not all about me. I only hope her dd is not sicked because she usually doesn't like to tell me if she is. Nowadays, I make sure I asked her if both herself and her dd is physically healthy before they come over. It takes a lot of courage on my side to actually ask her that but I have got to protect my dd (and my myself) from being sicked unnecessarily...or when we can avoid it. In the past, she made me so furious when she brought over her daughter when she was sicked and didn't think of our well-being. It was more than one time so I have had enough...lol. Okay, I need to stop rambling now.
Menu for today :
Breakfast : 1 ww waffle and my last square of egg, sausage and veggie casserole.
Snack : A fruit.
Lunch : Sauteed shrimp with creamy butter sauce, a veggie gratin recipe I saw on food network and some spinach and chopped veggies brown rice pilaf. Yes, need those veggies!
Snack : Not sure yet since friends will be here. I know the kids might have an small ice-cream cone treats and probably fruits.
Dinner : Not sure yet. Not sure if friend will stay for dinner otherwise Jess and I can easily fix something for dinner for ourselves.
Some replies :
CINDY : 3 1/2 lbs gone in a week? Awesome!! Keep it up. I hope the tech is able to fix your internet today.
MONET : Yes, yes, please post the ginger dressing. I am a big eater especially for my petite size. When I was younger, say early 20's, I used to be able to eat at least 3 pizza slices, spaghetti, salad, fruits, sausages, meatballs etc at one sitting...at a pizza buffet back in Malaysia. Okay, didn't do that too often but I can really eat at that time. I still do and sometimes my husband cannot believe that I get hungry so quickly. Good thing he knows about my enormous eating before we were married...lol. Anyway, I am eating at a more sensible portion these days. It feels good not to feel terrible full after each meal. Sounds like the detoxing is really good for you. I know raw veggies or raw food is good in general so keep it up when you can :)
HEART : Monet is right, eating insensibly only add to your stress and doesn't give you any comfort at all. I know you know this already but hope our reminders will help. I can relate to your financial situation although not now but when I was growing up. Please know that I will keep Robbie in my prayers. In the meantime, take baby steps and do the best you can to make the situation better. {{hugs}}}
COUNTRY : I have never thought about putting fish on my salad. That sounds good. I love..love fish :) Glad the scale is nice this morning...hmm...could it be that you have been making lots of great food choices and exercise??:) Good job!
SEBRAY : LOL...You must be really tired when you posted. Do stop and take a deep breath. How about putting the scale aside right now and focus on eating right and exercise? Scales do not always tell you the truth although sometimes it does. Perhaps food journaling will help to see what your food choices are and see if you can make any changes with your choices and exercise as well.
Got to go...my little Snow White is here trying to get me off the computer. Yes, it really Snow White because she is wearing her Snow White costume. She likes feeling and looking like a princess...lol. Better go before I lost this post.

Morning all! I'm just taking my first sip of coffee this morning so I hope I can type. It is supposed to be pretty here this weekend, but so far it is still cloudy--please no more rain!
Heart--Hugs to you! I have you in my thoughts and prayers. I've been there and know how stressful it is.:grouphug:
Melf--yippee!!!!!! It's so good to hear from you!!:cb:  This really is a struggle isn't it? Please come back--we miss you!
Country--Hmmm can we treat Sat. and Sun. like every other day of the week? I'm glad to hear that the scales were good to you!
Seabray--I hope your brain has recovered today!!
Monet--I don't know if I will make it to Atlanta before I go to Italy. The next two weekends I have to travel in Alabama for business. Then the weekend of the 30th I will need to stay home and het packed. During the week I need to bill as many hours as I can so I can actually affored to PAY for this trip!!:o
Cindy--Hope you get the highlights to come out ok! It's nice that you have a salon that is so caring!
Time to get another cup of coffee and get to some house cleaning! Have a great OP day everyone!

Well, I spent too much at the grocery store...as usual! I did find about $5 in coupons though, so that was encouraging. :)
Lunch was a brown rice cake, with charoset and one of the new low carb potatoes microwaved with butter. They are drier than regular potatoes, and not as fluffy baked, but the taste is good. I boiled the rest to make potato salad. I plan on entering their contest...I hope I win! The grand prize is $1000 and I do make a good potato salad! I would love to win.
Tom is working in the yard, and hoping it won't rain. It was sunny, but now its cloudy and gray out. :(
TECHWIFE! Where are you?
MELF: Good to see you! Stay a while! We miss you.
FILLISE: I am with you...NO MORE RAIN! Can we do an UNrain dance??
KENG: I sure hope the friend and her daughter were not ill. I know how you feel. With Lupus, I have to be very careful and it used to drive me crazy when I was teaching kids arts classes to homeschooled children when the parents would bring the kids hacking and coughing to the class! Praise the Lord I never got sick...but it could have killed me!
COUNTRY: Shallots is good eating! My son in law tells me the only difference between a home kitchen and a restaurant kitchen food is shallots! Restaurants use them all the time. Great flavor! What kind of fish did you use? I like lemon pepper, so I will look for the Tones Lemon Garlic...
SEBRAY: I agree with Julia...just concentrate on eating right, and exercising and stay off the scale. Its going to vary from day to day, so you ought to stay off it for at least a week at a time and take the average. Now if I can just practice what I am preaching here...
I better go get some stuff done. I need to try and pry James out of bed so he can help his father with some stuff that needs to get done today. Wish me luck! It will be like finding a needle in a haystack...

ok ok ill stay off the scale (trying not to cross my fingers behind my back hehe) the only reason im on the scale every day is cause Diet Power needs my weight info every day....*sigh*
The family fun day was fun for the kids....they had all kinds of stations to make stuff and play....kevin and i had our arms overloaded with things thta the kids made today hehe
well i need to head to walmart and get some little pots for the plants the kids got today.....
for the first time in a long time here is my menu today:
BF: nature's valley granola bar (apple crisp) ... i know it has like 11g of sugar in it but we were on our way out the door and it was either that or a baggie of marshmellows :(
L: chicken taco salad .... i think i got the recipe here...but if not ill be glad to post it for everyone...it was soooOOOOOOOO yummy :D
D: not too sure here but i know it will be something light
and im gonna have some grapes for snack later :)
sorry i cant do replies right now...my mind just isnt with me yet...still pounding away on those papers :(

We just in from working on the stall. I think they are trying to kill me...LOL We unloaded a load of sand. Robert needs to get another load next week and it should help keep the stall more level. Stormy made me a giant salad. It was delicious. I used a little feta in the place of salad dressing. It keeps the calories down but adds a ton of flavor.
Monet...I used the Tilapia. They should make me a spokewoman. I just love the fillets they sell at the store down the road. It's individually wrapped and each fillet is about 4.4 ounces. To be honest I'd could eat two but I stop at one. I hope you can find the seasoning. We got ours at the Dollar King. It was a huge container like you would get at Sams. Sounds like you are eating very well since coming off of your fast. WTG
Melf...((hugzz)) It is so good to see you. Welcome back. I was awol for awhile myself.
Sebray....I have a hard time staying off of the scales so I try to remind myself that flucuations are normal and I try..key word being try to go with the weekly weigh-ins as a true progress report.
Julia..thank you. Yes, I have been carefully watching what I eat. If I eat a cheeto I add it to my journal. That really helps a lot. Working in the garden and getting moving has been a big plus I think. I hope the little one is not ill and you end up having a super visit.
Susan....that is a good question. I don't know what it is about weekends. Maybe it's the whole process of relaxing and not doing what we do during the week. So far so good this weekend. I bet you are totally excited about your trip. How long are you going to be there?
Bob...how are you doing? Hope you are feeling better.
Heart....you can do it! Baby steps..((hugzz))
Time to get. ((((((((Everybody))))))))))
Love and hugs,

Ok, guys. I am in BIG trouble. I made potato salad with the Sunlite low carb potatoes and it was fabulous! I mean, oh wow! I baked one in the microwave, and it was ok, but boiled and used in salad they come into their own. I am going to really struggle to keep out of the potato salad now. :(
KENG: Here is the Ginger salad dressing recipe:
1/4 C. chopped onion
1/4 C. vegetable oil
2 Tbsp. rice wine vinegar
1 Tbsp. water
1 Tbsp. chopped ginger root (I use more as I like the ginger flavor)
1 Tbsp. chopped celery
1 Tbsp. soy sauce
1 1/2 tsp. tomato paste ( use 1/2 tsp. of ketchup to avoid opening a whole can for this amt)
1 1/2 tsp. sugar (I use agave, or fructose)
1 tsp. lemon juice
1/2 tsp. salt
Preparation:
Combine all ingredients in a blender. Process until almost smooth. Any unused portions
may be stored in a covered container in the refrigerator.
SEBRAY: You can just hit enter when Dietpower asks for your weight. It will just figure you have not lost. If you have been using it for more than a week, it doesn't hurt to do that. I used DP for years, and only weighed once a week and it worked fine.
COUNTRY: I love tilapia too! Its the only fish I can get Laura to even consider eating! I will check Costco and Sams for the Tones seasoning.
Off to get something done!

Just flying by to say I am trying a new vegetable today. I got a bag of prepared Kale at Publix and cooked them when I got home. I like them. They are milder than Collards and have almost a sweet taste. I just simmered them in salted water with a few tablespoons of peanut oil in it. I give it a thumbs up.

Yeah, I think they finally got the internet connection fixed. The cable guy thinks it was a bad cable end thingy that comes out of the wall. He said the signal was very bad when he tested it he also grounded something outside that wasnt but was supposed to be. So , so far so good.
Today was spent at the grocery then waiting for the cable guy to get here then a quick nap and off to dinner and back to thatch in the yard. Tomorrow we have a million errands. But its nice getting out and you dont have to wear a coat and freeze !
Sebray- know how you feel about the scale. Ive been bouncing about for months now..up , down , up , down. Its so frustrating. This week though Im down 3 1/2 without any ups so Im keep my fingers crossed it stays off this time.
Chicken taco salad sounds great. Id love the recipe if you have time to post it!
Countrymom4him- I love tilapia also. Orange roughe (sp) is my fav but unless I find it on sale I dont get it cause its just too expensive.
Monet- sounds like your switching wonderfully from the fast to regular eating.
What is the dietpower you guys are talking about? Is it like fitday?

CINDY: Yes, Dietpower is like fitday, but for your own computer. I love it. There is an ad for it on LCC, on the right hand side. I think its a woman running on the beach. You can add foods to the list, and it keeps track of your metabolic rate by your weight and calorie inputs. They have a free trial period to try it to see if you like it. I bought it several years ago and use it off and on. I really do like it. Oh, and you can input your exercise and it gives you the calorie expenditure calculated to your weight. Great little diet tool! I over did it on the food tonight...I ate about six large fresh radishes. It upset my stomach big time! I never would have thought that it would. What is funny is that I have lost my cravings for a lot of things. Tonight, I made Amy's Frozen ww crust pizzas for the boys, and could have eaten some if I wanted, I just did not want it! I used to be able to inhale pizza...so this is pretty new and exciting for me. I am glad you got your internet fixed! I feel lost when I can't get online!

It is after 11pm and I am tired but thought I will make a stop here before I hit the sack.
My friend and her dd came at around 2pm and went home about 7.30pm. Boyy...that was a long 5+hrs for me, with the kids storming thru the house, screaming and arguing with each other, jumped, climbed etc etc. We let them played outside quite a bit so there was less damage in the house...lol and I also took them to the playground. Boy, they were both tired but refused to admit it. My dd and her dd have a love hate friendship....my, my, I can't say I love to see them together. Well, I get a little worried at the end of the day when I saw her dd's nose is runny. My friend said she thought the runny nose was gone. Now...I am not upset with her since I know she really think her dd was okay and I know it could be allergy as well. Hope and pray it is an allergy:(
MONET : Thanks for the recipe, I will copy it down. I like the potatoes too since I don't really like starchy potatoes. If I crave for one, that will be my treat.
FILLISE : I missed your post earlier as well, we must be posting at the same time. Hope you get some cleaning done like you planned. My house sure needs cleaning especially after the kids have "stormed" thru it...lol. Kids and mess sure go together...lol.
MELF : Hey there, glad to see you here today. We miss you :0
CINDY : Glad your internet is up and running. Without internet, I feel like I am cut out of the rest of the world...lol.
COUNTRY : I love tilapia as well. It used to be my number one fish until I found basa fish at Publix. It is mild like tilapia but has a very tender, flaky texture. You almost cannot overcook that fish. I still eat tilapia though...definitely one of my favourites.
I know I might be missing someone since I am trying to get as many replies in before it gets too late, but not intentional. Got to go get my beauty sleep and rest so I don't feel like fainting at church again tomorrow...LOL.

MONET : I tried Kale for the first time when I was sicked with morning sickness. I made this Portugese Kale soup which is so hearty and yummy....love it!!! Have you try this recipe?? I heard so much about it but have never tried it until that time. It's also easy to make and not to mention a healthy soup as well. If you feel like having a good hearty and healthy soup, do let me know. I will be very glad to give you the recipe. Next week I am going to try Swiss Chard. I saw this recipe at food network called, braised swiss chard and it looked so simple and delicious. It calls for a little Red Wine vinegar at the end of the cooking process. I just bought the red wine vinegar so I am ready to try the dish. I am looking to eat more dark green veggies so this sounds like a good choice. Will let you know how it turns out.

Good Morning!
I hopped on the metal monster this morning, and I was up 1.5 pounds. I expected that, and was surprised it was not worse. If I can keep 15 of the pounds I lost off, I will be ecstatic!
KENG: I would love the recipe for the kale soup. I have not had swiss chard either..or for ages anyway. Have you had collards? They sell it in Publix with the bagged greens. We love them. Cook them with a bit of oil in it and some salt until they are very tender. They are true southern eating! :)
SEBRAY: Good going on getting the math done, now get the papers done! Thanks for the recipe!

I'm back....and man did I load up on veggies! 2lbs of fresh Asparagus, yellow squash, avacados, green bananas, celery for my egg salad (I'm on a kick!)...fresh corn on the cob (BAD BOB!!!). Saw the LOW CARB TATORS they were $2.99 per bag.
Monet...what did you pay?
They had whole pork loins for $1.99 per lb and I got one and had it cut in half (one for the freezer) and I'll cook the other today. Thought I would roast the asparagus with it. Got some slaw mix and I'll whip that up...
That's it for my adventure...
I'll be back....got to start my laundry...got to look good for THE NEW BOSS!!

Coming to Bob's house for dinner. :) Fresh asparagus is so tasty. I'm so glad to hear you are feeling better. Hope you like your new boss tomorrow.
Monet...I've never had chard or kale but I grew up on collard and mustard greens. When granny would come over she would mix some radish tops in with the mustard greens...or turnip..which ever we had on hand. I'd eat them more often but I'm lazy...LOL You can get the bags here but I prefer the bunches.
Sebray...WTG on finishing your assignments.
Julia...I don't think they have the basa where I live. They just started getting the tilapia. They've had the tilapia about 30 minuites from here at teh store but I had never heard of it before you ladies were talking about it one time. I grew up on catfish, which I love. But I only like it fried. That's the best thing about the tilapia, it's good sauteed in either a little olive oil or just seasoned water. Since I'm really watching the fats I've been using water. Have you ever microwaved it? I haven't been brave enough to try it that way yet.
Cindy..I hear ya. I can't afford the tilapia where I do most of my grocery shopping but the store close to my house has it for about 3.49 a pound and I'm the only one that eats it. At the other store it's 6.99 a pound...that's not happening..LOL

Happy Sunday everyone!
Okay, I am done being depressed with my "failure" but, I am not going to take it as a failure...and I am going to move on. Still...with your support...
It is glorious here in Ohio...beautiful, absolutely!
I just went to two stores, the healthfoods store and the conventional...stocked up on tons of really good wholesome foods...mostly organic...funny, the conventional store has just as much organic/whole wheat etc..as the h/f but not nearly as pricey...they must watch out, ya know?
How are all of you doing today???
My kids are enjoying this beautiful day...it is so nice to watch them...
Well, talk to you all soon..longer tomorrow!

Argh, I lost my post!! Nevermind, it was my mistake so I am going to try to retype my post the best I can.
Dh took dd to office today so I get a little break. Jess is so happy about the idea because she has always wanted to visit daddy's office that she heard so much about. Dh is not working, just had to write his time sheet that he has forgotten to do yesterday. Ahhhh...so nice and quiet here...I have to admit, it feels a little strange...lol.
Some replies :
SEBRAY : Glad you and your family has fun at the family fun day. Happy Birthday to Kevin. I can almost smell the carrot cake all the way here. I cannot bake to save my life...lol. Have a fun day :) Thanks for the cute frogs...couldn't agree more :)
MONET : I hope you win the recipe contest too. I will post the Portugese Kale soup recipe below. I have tried collard greens at some restaurants and love it! I cooked the frozen collard once at home (sis-in-law gave it to me when she moved out of state) and it didn't taste quite as good as those at restaurants. I know many restaurants put ham hock, bacon or ham in it to make it very tasty. I would definitely make the fresh collard at home, maybe with some ham, what do you think?
BOB : I love fresh asparagus especially when you roast them. Yum! Glad you are feeling better.
COUNTRY : I know Basa fish is not really available in many areas yet but it has quite the same texture and flavour as tilapia, I know you will love it :) You are right about tilapia, it is such a versatile fish, you can cook in anyway you like and it will taste good. Oh, you can also used veggie or chicken broth to cook your fish to add more flavour to it. No, I haven't microwave any fish or seafood because microwave tend ot not cook the food evenly. If I am lazy, I will cook my fish in the oven, broil, steam in a pouch with veggies or bake. If I am not so lazy, then I might pan-seared my fish :)
SARAH : What failure?? Hope it is not about not detoxing. You are so right on....keep moving and we are here for you :) It is a beautiful sunny day here as well. Love this weather! Have a nice day as well.
Portuguese Kale Soup
Yield: 4 servings
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 tablespoon finely chopped garlic
1/2 cup diced onions
1/2 diced turnips (I didn't put this in as I couldn't find it. Not sure if this is legal either)
1/2 cup diced carrots
1 bunch kale, stemmed and roughly chopped
6 ounces chopped chourico (spicy Portuguese sausage), or chorizo (I browned it in the pot first before adding other ingredients which is not necessary)
3 bay leaves
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley leaves
2 tablespoons chopped fresh thyme leaves
6 cups beef stock (I used chicken stock instead and it did turn out good)
1 cup kidney beans (I used the white bean (navy beans) in mine)
6 ounces diced tomatoes
10 ounces diced potatoes (I did add about 3 medium red potatoes although not legal)
In a large stock pot, heat the oil over medium-high heat. Add the garlic, onions, turnips and carrots and cook for 5 minutes. Add the kale, chourico, bay leaves, parsley and thyme and mix well. Add the beef stock, beans and tomatoes. Bring the soup to a boil, and then reduce the heat to low and simmer for 30 to 40 minutes.
Meanwhile, in a medium saucepan, bring salted water to a boil and add the diced potatoes. Cook until tender, about 10 minutes. Drain the potatoes and add them to the soup. Remove the bay leaves and serve hot.
NOTES : I did use potatoes in the recipe but I just dump it all in the pot with the other ingredients instead of cooking it separately and then add it to the recipe later. Too much fuss...lol but it turned out great anyway.

Tom and I went for a walk. I was not feeling very energetic but he pushed me to go farther than I thought I wanted. I was glad he did. Today is the deadline for submitting forms for the gallery for the arts festival, so its been busy already. People are emailing, calling with questions, and its only going to get worse! I have ten forms in already, and another 6 expected, and that is just the ones I know about. I also will submit two or three pieces, so its going to be a fairly good show. Its going to be hard figuring out how to display all the pieces. :) Its a good problem...
KENG: Thanks for the soup recipe. It sounds good! As for the collards, I would try them with a ham hock, as I have had them that way and its good. We also like mustard greens.
COUNTRY: Wow...$3.49 a pound for tilapia is cheap! I pay about $5 a pound for it. I like to saute it in a bit of butter with seasoning salt on it. I have not tried the basa fish, but I have seen it at Publix, which is where Julia gets it over on the other side of Atlanta. I may have to check it out. :)
SEBRAY: Only one piece of Kevin's cake, ok? :)
SARAH: Its not a failure to have decided not to do the detox! You can use the lemons and maple syrup and make some of the lemonade and drink it for breakfast. It will help clean out your system. Then eat heavy on the fruits and veggies and very light on meats and NO grains, and you will get some detox going without starving. Enjoy the beautiful weather! While we were out walking, I shook a branch on a pine tree and almost choked on the cloud of pollen it let loose!
BOB: What time is dinner?

You can teach an old dog new tricks...LOL I tried this recipe because I was out of strawberries. It is soooooooo good.
1 cup Borden skim enriched milk
5 ounces of canaloupe
2 cups crushed ice
2 packets of splenda
Mix the milk ice and splenda in the blender. When most of the ice is smooth addin the canaloupe. Blend till smooth.
It almost taste like ice cream. The best part is it's less than 125 calories and makes a huge glass. I'm not sure what kind of glass if is but I use this oversized one that looks like a wine glass kinda. It makes me feel special..LOL I usually used the strawberries and one packet of splenda.
Julia..thanks for telling me about the broth. I'll have to try that sometime.
Monet...WTG on getting in your walk. Sounds like a plan. I might drag my son out if it isn't raining yet.
Sarah...good deal getting healthy foods. For the most part around here the healthy food are going to cost you a lot. I think it's a shame it's so much cheaper to eat poorly.

Just flying by on my way to bed! I got home from church and took over the sausage biscuit project James had started so he could go run an errand. I ate two pieces of the sausage, and two brown rice cakes. I also had a few pieces of ham. Now I am beat! Its time for bed.
Sweet dreams everyone!
