View Full Version : Memorial Day Challenge?

03-28-2005, 01:58 PM
I think a challenge to lose a certain amount of weight by Memorial Day (the real official start of summer) would be great. What do you all think? How much do you want to lose by May 30th?

03-28-2005, 02:27 PM
I think I'll go with 20 lbs. That's 2 months away. I should be able to do that with no problem!!!

03-28-2005, 02:31 PM
I made a Memorial Day goal back in Feb to be at 275, well I beat that today, so I guess my revised goal will be 260. That's a 14 pound loss from today.

03-28-2005, 02:47 PM
My goal is to be 288 by then. So that will be an 18 pound loss.

03-28-2005, 03:19 PM
My goal is to lose 15 lbs by then. I will weigh-in today and see where I'm at *as I munch on a girl scout cookie*....

03-28-2005, 05:07 PM
My goal is 18 pounds, which would put me at 212.

03-29-2005, 06:14 PM
I'm hoping for 225. :) That would be very, very cooool.

03-29-2005, 06:15 PM
I'll go for being 236.

03-29-2005, 11:12 PM
i'm hoping for -20lbs :dizzy:
it's been going slow -1 or 0 so i'm going to eat better and hopefully that's the problem and i'll start losing more and make the goal :)

03-30-2005, 10:57 AM
I'm gonna go for 240... That will be 11.75 pounds from today.....

03-31-2005, 08:18 AM
I'll commit to losing 20 lbs on this challenge!

04-10-2005, 10:49 AM
Better late than never?

First, Im doing my Cabo Wabo Challange. I'd like 185 by May 7th, the Sammy Hagar concert. Thats exactly 100 pounds less than the last time I saw him. Isn't it funny how all the major things in my life revolve around Sammy? (Yes, Im a nut!!)
Then Memorial day? 180! Thats a total of 14 pounds from today. Should be doable now that the weather is warm again and I can really start my long walks again. Good luck everyone!

04-11-2005, 01:16 AM
hmm ok. I think I am going with 17 pounds. Right now I am 252 so that would be....235 WOOHOO. I think I can I think I can I think I can.

04-11-2005, 01:18 PM
I am going to give up soda for the Memorial Day Challenge. I'm tired of beating myself up for not reaching a numbered goal.

No more soda for SPF. This means diet, too!!! (Even though I have a dollar off coupon & it's on sale somewhere this week--I don't need the chemicals.) Also, soda here @ work is free. :(

04-12-2005, 02:18 PM
I think I'll try for 20lbs also.

04-12-2005, 02:53 PM
I'm a little late, but I'll go for 20lbs which would put me at 220.

04-18-2005, 10:16 AM
How's everyone doing??

04-18-2005, 12:49 PM
Well I'm on track to make this goal. I have 12 lbs to go and 6 weeks to do it in. So that's 2 a week. I had been getting 3 a week but it's slowed down these past few weeks.

04-18-2005, 02:43 PM
I have decided to make my Memorial Day Challenge (yea, I am a little late) 17lbs, which will put me in ONEderland, a perfect way to kick off summer :)

04-18-2005, 04:30 PM
Hi everyone!

Can I join in? I haven't posted anything in a long time. I am trying to get back on track this week after having a long heartfelt talk with my hubby this weekend. He knows that my weight has been upsetting me more than usual lately and we had a big ole talk about what has worked in the past and what he could do to help. I would really like to lose 16 pounds by Memorial Day. I know I am only 6 weeks out, but I want to get as close as possible.

I've been reading the past posts and you guys are really inspiring ... lots of great stats! :cheer:

Hey everyone!

It's been a month since the last post on the challange...

How's everyone doing?

Met my Memorial day Goal this morning!!! Yippee! I'm so happy!!! Scale victories are my favorites!

05-16-2005, 12:49 PM
With school and everything I fell off the wagon for a good 3 weeks but in that time only gained 2 lbs. So I'm back on but have adjusted my goal since I only have 2 weeks to meet it. I'm going with a goal of 3lbs in 2 weeks.

I'm starting WW points on my own without joining. I got some info from some coworkers and am going to count points and exercise. It is a way to cut down my portions and consciously eat healthier.

05-16-2005, 02:34 PM
Does not look like I will make my goal with gaining 2 lbs last week. Unless it was just water and I have a real big loss this week I don't see it happening. I'm still hopefull but doubt that it will happen. But hey as long as I continue to go down it's all good.

05-16-2005, 03:49 PM
I'm like SUPER LATE... but I'm gonna lose 7 pounds before Memorial day lol... YEAH! I'M HYPED! LOL OH HOW I LONG TO SEE 222 LOL

05-17-2005, 11:30 PM
With a friend of mine it was 8 pounds but I started it late. I wonder if 8 pounds by then is still healthy. I will say at this point 5 pounds.

I have 125 ugly pounds to lose.

05-26-2005, 04:02 PM
I had a good loss last week. But still would have to have a 4 lb loss this week to make my goal. I'm hopefull but after losing 5 last week I don't think I will lose 4 more. Although I have done this before so I will know tomorrow.

So how is everyone else doing.

05-26-2005, 04:36 PM
I'm not going to be anywhere close unless someone knows how to get rid of almost 30 pounds in a few days. I'll just be happy to continue being on track at this point. :)

05-26-2005, 07:32 PM
I'm still at 257 this week. So I met my goal!!! Yipee!

Now, on to lose 17 more before July 24th!!! 5 days in a swimsuit in public (going to Wisconsin Dells water parks)... I really want to lose at least the complete 17!!!

05-27-2005, 11:18 AM
I'm a little late, but I'll go for 20lbs which would put me at 220.

Ok, I guess I'm not going to make 20 lbs... but I did make 7 so far. We'll what tomorrow brings. :)

Have a good weekend everyone!

05-27-2005, 12:49 PM
I can't freaking believe it. I squeaked in and had a 4 lb loss this week I'm 288 and at my M Day goal.

05-27-2005, 12:57 PM
OMG Howie - not only have you reached your Memorial Day goal, but you exceeded your "next mini-goal" of 290 by June 1st AND are officially in the 280's!!! Yes, I know you know all this, but I'm spelling it out for those who may not have noticed the totality of your accomplishment. Freakin' way to goooooo! :D

05-27-2005, 01:01 PM
Treefroglegs - Congrats on reaching your Memorial Day Goal (and early to boot). Keep on going!!

Beth - It may not be your goal, but 7lbs. is nothing to sneeze at. Good work.

Dawnyal - Okay, you fell short for this holiday, but there's the next to shoot for - you're on track and raring to go, right? I'm sure we'll be congratulating you for meeting your Independance Day goal (once you tell us what it is... ;) )

05-27-2005, 05:13 PM
Way To Go Everyone!!!!!!! :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:

05-28-2005, 07:58 PM
I have given up sugared sodas. I still drink diet.

05-30-2005, 11:41 PM
I made my memorial day challenge too, I'm just too lazy to change my ticker ;)

05-31-2005, 08:43 AM
Ok, my final was 8lbs. Which is still pretty good for me.

I hope you had a great holiday everyone!

05-31-2005, 12:11 PM
WTG on all of you who made goal.

I think I gained the number out pounds I set out to lose. I'll get it together again and lose more weight.

05-31-2005, 01:25 PM
Good job to those who made it. And for those who did not keep going I know you will. This is a long journey filled with temtations. We mess up sometimes and the key is to just get right back at it and keep going.
