Here are a few challenges for the week:

1. Drink your water! It helps flush toxins out of the body, and keeps the metabolism running. Drink up!

2. Try a new veggie or fruit this week! And share with everyone what you tried and what you thought.

3. Get in at least three days of exercise. If you are already doing that, try something different or new this week, and tell us about it.

You CAN do this...go out and make this a good week!

Good Morning! It rained cats and dogs here yesterday. Its not raining this morning, but its gray and wet looking. The older kitten wants to go out, and is getting really annoying. We have been making him stay in because his eye is all red and puffy. He is probably going to have to go to the vet. It keeps getting better, then worse, better then worse....I wonder if he is allergic to something blooming. I know the other yellow tabby is allergic to something and gets bronchitis the end of June all the time!

I have a project I must finish this week, for VBS. I am procrastinating badly on it. It has to be done by Friday, so I better get cracking!

ARCAYNE: Way to go on the eating out! You did great! I am SO proud of you! AND your body thanks you for feeding it healthy stuff. :)

I'm home with the CRUD today...tried to go to work, but just couldn't make it.
I'm so congested and what I'm hacking up ain't pretty!

I'll try to get back on a little later

Thanks for starting the board and listing such great challenges for this week. I'm game on trying a new fruit or veggie. The trick is to find one around here I haven't tried...LOL Limited in a small town. I did try a new way of eating eggplant yesterday and it was great. My mom grilled it with a little olive oil. Very tasty.

Bob...sorry you are feeling so yucky today. Praying you feel better before the day is over. Nothing quite as miserable as a spring cold.

The scales are going in the wrong direction. Kinda getting on my last nerve. I'm not eating enough to be gaining. But I've messed up my metabolism over the years so I guess it's my own fault. Wed. I'll list my current weight regardless. I've been avoiding seeing it in writing..it's bad enough seeing it on the scales.

We worked in the garden this weekend so I haven't had a chance to read the board from the weekend yet. Off to get caught up.

Love and hugs,
Crystle

Happt Monday!

Where is everyone? Maybe the Easter Bunny kidnapped everyone

Easter went well. It was a long and busy day. People got there around 1:30 and left at 8:30 after the game. I'm worn out today.

Eating was good this weekend. My nieces gave me a box (9) of Peeps. I love them. I ate one and threw the others in the garbage. Then I was cleaning up last night. Stuck my hand in the potato chips 2 times. Gave them to DH to throw out also. Can't have it around. The scale was only up 1 pound this morning from Friday so it beats the 8 I was up last week.

I'm gonna call DH and make him take me out to dinner at a steak place. I just don't want to deal with cooking and if we get there before 6:00 we can get 2 dinners for $13.00 and it will be legal.

Monet, thanks for starting the boards. I don't know what we would do without you. I guess you are our moderator, cause I know Deb is not coming back.

Bob, That does it, I called for an exorcist. I can't beleiveyou have something again. You are not living right or something. Feel better quickly. Was Kate yelling and screaming last night at the game too? It was a heartbreaker.

Country, I was wondering what new veggie I could try. Maybe it is eggplant. DH loves it but I have never tried it.

Gotta run. Talk you you tomorrow.

Good afternoon...

Wow, it is sure quiet here. I am sorry for MIA again, now I have to re-train myself to log on again. It seems that after few months of not bothering with the internet, it seems hard.

I am doing fine and eating good too. I am hungry a lot but tried to be sensible in my food choices but sometimes it can be so hard at times :( I have changed to a new OBGYN and will be seeing her this Thursday. Jess gets another cold and seems like dh is getting one too, good news is, it is quite a minor one compared to the last cold bug that we all had.

My family and I spent our easter sunday with our neighbor and their family. They are like our extended family. We had such great time and ended up spending more time there than we planned to. I am so grateful to know them :)

MONET : Thanks for starting the board again. I just went grocery shopping few hours ago and got the groceries for the whole week so I might not be able to meet your challenge of "trying a new fruit/veggie". As for next week, I am planning to make braised swiss chard and it will be a new veggie for me. I am so glad the rain had finally stopped now and tomorrow the temp supposed to go back up to around 75 degrees. I am enjoying the warm spring weather. The flowers are blooming around the yard, what a nice sight.

BOB : I am sorry you are not feeling well. Get plenty of rest :)

COUNTRY : I was planning to make eggplant parmesan this week but decided not to. I saw a simple, lighter version of eggplant parmesan at Food Network so thought I tried. I love eggplant but it has to be cooked a certain way. I haven't try grilling it but I bet it would be so tasty. I will have to try that. Don't dwell on what you have done to your metabolism in the past, just do the best you can starting right now. I know it is easier said than done (for me too) but I know that is the right thing. Give yourself sometime to see the positive results but I am sure you will feel good even before the good results. {{{hugs}}}

The rest of the gang here...hope you all had a good easter celebration.

JACK : We must be posting around the same time because I didn't see your post earlier. No....didn't get kidnap by the easter bunny...LOL. You did such great job in your food choices and control. WTG! I wish I can say the same for me...LOL. I have never tried Peeps but I have seen it on TV. They looked so cute!! I love eggplant but it has to be cooked in a certain way. I just don't like it to be soggy and spongy. I prefer the chinese eggplant but hard to find in my local grocery store. I will have to try grilling it like Country suggested. Maybe you will like it. Hope your husband took you out for dinner tonight, I know cooking can be quite a chore sometimes.

I have made some progress on the VBS stuff. I at least have an idea of what I am trying to do now! :) I spend about an hour on the phone with the executive director of the ministry chatting about what they did last year and what will work best this year.

Tomorrow my juicer is supposed to arrive! I am looking forward to playing with it. I borrowed a book on a detox diet from my neighbor/massage therapist. I hope I get the chance to read it this week.

Tonight for dinner, I am making lentil stew with the ham bone from yesterday's dinner. The bone is simmering right now and the whole house smells divine! Its about time to add the lentils and some carrots and onions. I will probably serve leftover collards too. There will be no gas shortage at Spa Monet tonight!

COUNTRY: I am sorry your scale is not behaving. Drink lots of water, and get your walking in, and even if you don't lose, you will be healthier for it. I can relate to the frustrations though.

JACK: My kids take those Peeps and put them in the microwave...its hilarious! They get to be about five times as large as normal.

KENG: How good to see you! I am glad you had a good Easter! Please don't be a stranger!

We are missing some folks... Pancho, Woodfrogs, Fruitloupe, Teensybean... Check in please!

good evening all. My company is here. My daughter in law and grandsons. Its so fun having them around. I'm sure enjoying it. My eating is horrid. I'll really have to detox next week. Its hard to make big meals when I'm used to cooking for two. I get tired easy because of my heart disability. Tonight is spraggetti. So I'll need to get busy on that soon. We had a really good Easter here with lots of family. The Grandsons and I dyed eggs Sat. night. And the kids all had a big hunt on Sunday. Well guess I'd better go get dinner started....

Talk about one worn out mama....clay is a bugger when you are trying to plant a garden. :) We put in the gypsum and mushroom dirt so it's a lot better but still a challenge to make the rows. I think we got 6 rows done today. My youngest helped plant the green beans. He was so proud of himself. My legs got shacky near the end of the third row so he and Jess got to finish the third and do the fourth. Hopefully they'll grow. Between the garden and my two mile walk this morning I am done...LOL We were gonna try to get in another walk this evening but it aint happening.

I think I do have a new veggie to try. I bought some Nappa cabbage this week. As far as I know I've never had it unless I've had it in a resturant in stir fry or something. Mom and I tried shallots for the first time last week. Not exactly a veggie but it was a nice change from our regular onions.

Monet...I am so jealous. Lentils are one of my favorites. Eat a bite or two for me.

Kenj...thank you. You are such a sweetie. Remind me....last time I was on the board a while back did you say you were pregnant?

Toni...((hugzz)) Hang in there. Sneak some rest when you can. Praying you have a total blast with your family.

Jack-K...We've eaten eggplant my whole life in the summer. Usually cut in cirlces dusted in flour and fried...yum yum. Of course with the flour being a no no we don't or should I say I don't eat them that way anymore. WTG on the scales being down. Since everyone in my house is gaining weight I think I will blame the scales instead of all the good food... :)

Cindy...I don't blame you for not wanting the extra store run. If you are like me it's too easy to find something else to throw in the buggie. I love a good sale..LOL

The kids are running wild so I guess I'd better go reel them in.

Love and hugs,
Crystle

The lentil stew turned out pretty good. I had a nice sized bowl and a couple of rice cakes with a bit of butter and jam on them. I feel pretty full, and I hope its from the beany properties of the lentils and not that I ate too much.

I am SO tired...I can't understand why. I drank a glass of port after dinner to help me sleep, so I think I will take advantage of it. I will check in in the morning!

Good morning...

I got up feeling very good and motivated today since the sun is shining and the temp is warming up. I know I will complain when the heat starts to get to me :) I had a hearty, not all legal breakfast this morning. Here is my menu planned for today :

Breakfast : 1 ww waffle, 2 breakfast sausages and 2 not legal chicken wings (leftover from yesterday)...lol.

Snack : Might be fruits.

Lunch : Stir-fry spaghetti (chinese style) with bean sprouts, chinese mushrooms, green onions, onions, bell pepper and eggs. Didn't have any shrimps or I would love to add that, instead for my protein, I will make some basa fish to go with my starch. Not sure how I am going to make it yet but would be light and simple. I am also planning to make a simple soup to go with it. Dh is off today so thought I will put a little more effort :)

Snack : Not sure yet but will have fruits.

Dinner : Mixed veggie curry served with boiled eggs and basmati rice.

MONET : I really salute your efforts and help in the VBS stuff at your church, not everyone is willing to do so. I believe I have tried yellow lentils but not the green ones but I know I will love it anyway since I love indian food. Ham and lentils sound like a heavenly combination. Did you have a bottle of Beano at the dinner table yesterday? lol. Seriously, I have never tried Beano so I have no idea if it works.

CINDY : The sun is out and the temp is warming up to 70's today. The flowers are blooming, what a wonderful sight isn't it? I haven't had a chance to "chat" with you much but hopefully will be able to do so from now on.

TONI : I am not very good at cooking for big group of people either. Sounds like you will be busy but the good kind of busy that's. I have missed you :)

COUNTRY : I really want to start a veggie garden and have talked about it for ages...lol but somehow I seem to have excuse everytime. This time it will be my pregnancy...LOL. Yes, you are right, I am am expecting my 2nd baby. I will be due sometime in beginning of Sept so that put me around 17 weeks right now. Oh, I love nappa cabbage, in stir-fry or soups, so sweet! I think I eat nappa cabbage just about every week or so. Just be as creative as you like with it and it shouldn't taste too bad :)

Got to go do something else productive now...will check in later.

Hello all!

I know I haven't been on in a while, but I went to NC for Easter and just got back late last night. It was a good trip, though tiring. My DM, DD and spent a lot of time planning for our Italy trip (we leave five weeks from today). When I said goodbye to them yesterday I reminded them that the next time we see each other should be in the Atlanta airport!

I hope everyone who celebrates Easter had a good day. I have to admit that it was not very "Eastery" in either NC or Alabama. It was cold, windy and rainy in both places. We got over 6 inches of rain in Auburn on Sunday. I was relieved to see that the house and yard were soggy, but fine when I got back. Today is sunny and we might even hit 80 degrees!!!!

I've got an appointment in a few minutes so I need to get going, but I knew if I didn't get on now, I wouldn't until tomorrow morning. I need to be here.

Have a great OP day everyone!

Susan

ps--Arcayne--it's GREAT to see you back!

I am finally starting to feel better too..and exercise...my ear is still junky but, I will feel better. Maybe the nice weather in NE Ohio is helping?? We are having 60 degree temps today!!!

Talk to you all soon..I have to work this evening, so I will check frequently. I only have to work today and Friday 2-8pm each day. Oh the life of a 2 day week...lol!!!

Just a quick check in. Had to work thru lunch and tried to eat my salad on the fly but it wasn't very good and didn't have time to eat my strawberries.

Susan, glad you had a nice Easte. It is exciting that your trip is to close. I thought it felt more like Thanksgiving than Easter with the horrible weather. Glad you are back.

Sarah, I love your enthusiasism. You really sound like you want this to work. That is a big step. Keep up the good work.

Bob, hope you are feeling better today.

Good afternoon. Its beautiful today outside. I'm so excited spring is here. I'm having fun with the grandsons. My oldest is 12 and he played his viola for me this morning. The kids are getting to go fish again today. Hope they have good luck. They're catching cat fish and perch. Sorry I'm not staying and replying but got to go.

Hey everyone! I am so sorry I have been off all day. I woke up this morning and asked Laura when she had classes...and the timing was not good - 12 -3pm! I threw on my clothes and hurried out to Harry's/Whole Foods, since I was supposed to cook for small group tonight. I spent WAY too much money, and small group got cancelled! Bummer! When I got home from H/WF, my neighbor called and asked me if I wanted to go to lunch with her...so we went to my fav Japanese place and I got beef teriyaki with brown rice. The teriyaki that they use is homemade and not very sweet so I think it was legal. I did eat the three small pieces of California roll that came in my bentou box, but other than that, the lunch was totally legal. I came home and meant to work on the VBS stuff, but my juicer came, then Laura got home from school, and we juiced some carrots and apples. Yummy! I intended to work on the VBS stuff after that, but ended talking to Laura for an hour, and after she went to work, I fell asleep. Tom woke me up and we went for a walk. I hope I did not bore you all to tears with the blow by blow of my day! :)

I am going to start a detox diet tomorrow and do it for ten days. Its weird, but I have friends who have done it and said they felt great after they finished. I bought the items you need to do it at H/WF today. I will let you all know what I think, and how it works!

I will be back later to post replies. I need to go fix something for dinner!

It was another beautiful day here in Indiana. Almost got to 70! But it all ends tomorrow with the rain moving in and the temps dropping. We should be getting the rainy April here soon. But that will make everything nice and green.

Monet- what do you do for the detox? Is it complicated?

Tuesday menu
b- oatmeal, 3 bacon
s- lc yogurt
l- turkey roll ups, 1/2 cup cottage cheese
s- orange
d- hamburger patty with swiss, steamed brocilli, 1/2 avacado
s- 2 triscuits

Ok, I am back! Dinner was one ww tortilla with beef, onions and peppers, lettuce, a dash of cheese, and some tomatoes. For dessert, we had some apple -carrot juice.

CINDY: I hesitate to put it on here, because I know I am going to get blasted! :) Basically, it is a 10 day detox program where you only drink a fresh lemonaid type drink made with fresh lemon juice and maple syrup and a dash of cayenne. You also drink a quart of salt water in the morning, and have a laxative tea at night. The lemon cleanses the intestines, and the maple syrup gives you just enough energy and minerals to keep going. The salt water flushes your system and draws toxins with the lemon. So, as you can see, it is not complicated, just takes some dedication!

COUNTRY: I like your new avatar! I hope we can get our garden in soon. Tom still needs to till the soil and get it prepared. He is such a procrastinator, I bet it will be another couple weeks before he makes any progress on it! :( I am ready for summer, and all that fresh, free produce! We have clay soil too, so I can understand how you feel there! :)

KENG: I am not doing VBS for my church, I am working on the curriculum for Hope For Atlanta, a non profit, Christian ministry to mostly Hispanics in the Doraville area. They have an apartment at a complex that is almost totally Hispanics, and do ministry out of the apartment. The ministry is associated with our church, since the executive director and founder of the ministry was also on our church staff. Its a great ministry, and has done a lot for the families in the apartment complex. They have a web page if you care to look at it.

FILLISE: Did you enjoy the sunshine today? I am glad you had a good trip to NC.

TONI: Enjoy your company! Is the 12 year old good on the viola? Or did he just start?

SARAH: Yay! You will feel better and better as you get the bad stuff out and focus on the good stuff! I am glad you are feeling better. I had an ear infection that lasted 3 months once. It was awful. I hope you are taking lots of vitamin C!

JACK: Lentils should be with the dry beans. They are small, round and flat. They don't take long to cook and are really good with a ham bone! They are also high in protein. Throw in some onion and carrot too... If you can't find them at the grocery store, Whole Foods has them.

I need to go fix smoothies and lunch for Tom. Sweet dreams!

Good Wednesday Morning Ladies

It was such a nice evening last night we went for a mile walk and then I came home and did my weights and 17 minutes on the treadmill. the scale was down 1 pound today. Always want more, never happy.

Monet, more power to you if you can stand the detox for 10 days. Just be careful. Call in the lost flock. I know they are out there somewhere.

Toni, children and musical instruments. Only a grandmother can appreciate that. Is your GS a seasoned player. Have fun. Are you going fishing too?

Cindy, it was nice here yesterday too. Today is should get to 77. 70 tomorrow and then we will be getting your rain. I here it's going to be cold again Saturday with rain. Spring is just teasing us.

bf today was a protein bar, coffee
lunch, Amy ww pizza, strawberries

Monet: OKAY!! I'm still here!! .

So.... I've been busy on iTunes...my dh got my dd an iPod for her birthday and I've been having problems getting connected to the place you can buy music to load onto it and then once I fixed the problem, I spent nearly all day selecting music for it to surprise her with when she came home from school. We got her a $15 gift card to go with it. I've already got the bribery going with it, to make it work FOR ME. Hmmm...let's see....if she cleans the litter box everyday, makes her bed and puts away her laundry and gets her dirty laundry actually IN the hamper and keeps her room clean for the week, I'll let her get a couple new songs for her iPod. I don't know why my husband insists on spoiling the kids with such expensive gadgets...my ds got a Power Wheels four-wheeler to drive around the yard just for going poop on the toilet!! But it's nice to see them with good things as long as they continue to appreciate fully the things they get and don't start to take advantage or start acting like spoiled brats...which DOES happen from time to time, trust me. But it'll be nice for her to have the iPod next year when she goes to middle school and takes the long bus ride to the ms/hs. As long as she remains discreet about it and keeps it locked up when she's not using it.

ALSO!! The high temp is going to be 55 today...ABOVE ZERO!! There are literally lines and lines of Canadian Geese flying north, the sun is shining blazes and I have my comforter and blanket in the washer with the sheets slotted for the next load and ready for the clothes line!! What a beautiful, beautiful day!! Time to crank up the music and open the windows and shake out the rugs and get out the dust mop. Maybe I'll even wash some windows! Last time I did that on a sunny day, I didn't realize the temp was zero out (I was washing a window on the side of the house that the breeze was NOT blowing in) and had the scrape the windex off with a spatula!! What a dope!

Easter was alright. I always hate family holidays because I always remember the holidays where we would all go to gramma's house and have wonderful dinners with gramma and grampa, aunts and uncles and cousins and brothers and sisters and mom and dad and now I live here alone with just my kids and my hubby, which is nice, but my hubby is always depressed on holidays because his family is all in California and getting him in the holiday mood never happens and the kids are all like "But I don't wanna get out of my pajamas!!" And I have the whole church conflict thing where I don't feel comfortable in the churches in my little village and so I don't end up going to church on EASTER! And the kids don't like ham or scalloped potatoes and my husband is being a grump and I end up sitting at the table eating illegal food by myself, pouting. :( Someday my kids will be grown and my family will blossom and then the family holidays will be more like they're supposed to be. Until, then, I'll continue practicing cooking on holidays so that by then, I'll be preparing true gramma-quality food that my growing family will be flocking to every holiday. And then the holidays will be the way they're supposed to be. And God help any kids my kids marry that think that MY kids are going to go elsewhere for ANY holiday...Grumble, grumble.

So, time to put the comforter and blanket on the clothesline and put the sheets in the washer!!

Hi everyone!!!

It is going to be GLORIOUS here today (NE Ohio...Akron area) they are saying 70s! I already have shorts picked out for today..but...oh my is it a wakeup call when some summer clothes feel a little "snug!" I need to just put my eye on the prize...

My little DD is having me "touch" everything...she is 2 yrs old and she is bringing me pictures..right now..saying "touch it mom"--yeah, not mommy or mama..it is "mom" and it is pronounced "mam"--cute!

My DS didn't want to wear shorts to school today...he is 3 1/2 and his classroom gets hotter than hades in mid winter so, I thought shorts for today wouldn't be horrible...they are long...but he is like "I don't want to show my knees"--funny, isn't it?? I am dying to show my legs, even though a little extra cellulite accompanies them!

So, where is everyone from? I am from a little city called Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio...it is outside Akron...a little south of Cleveland...

Okay, I am babbling.

I know today is WIW..but, haven't gotten on the scales yet. I am scared.

Good Morning! I was going to postpone my detox diet until Friday, but when I got on the metal monster, I had had enough. I was up three pounds! I have been eating more carefully, and almost totally legal, the past week. I can't explain why the scale was up, but it made me want to do something really different. SO, I mixed up the stuff and got started. So far, all I can report is a caffiene headache. :)

The weather is gorgeous here again. I will probably try to get in a walk a bit later. I am trying to work on the VBS stuff. I keep falling asleep while reading. This is not good...and I thought I got a decent night's sleep. After the detox is over, I may have to go to the doctor for a thyroid check if this has not improved.

Oh, my juicer came yesterday and so far, I really am enjoying it! I used it this morning to juice the lemon for my diet stuff. It worked really well. A better one might be nice, but for right now, this Black and Decker one seems to be pretty good.

TECH: Its good to see you. An iPod, eh? My grown son would be jealous. He wants one, but can't afford it.

JACK: I think you do have to totally reselect on the tickers. I will be careful...Tom is not convinced that this is a good thing, and will probably hold me down and feed me if he suspects I am not doing well. :)

SARAH: The weather is gorgeous here too. I love seeing the sun! We have had SO much rain. I live outside of Atlanta, north east off I-85. I grew up in Oak Park, Illinois, but came south the the University of Georgia where I met my husband. He is from a farming community in south Georgia.

I am going to wander downstairs and find my lemon drink... be back later! I need to make progress on the VBS before I can reward myself with a trip here!

Hello all!

It is a GORGEOUS day here in east central Alabama! I think we've turned the corner! We are supposed to hit 80 here today--YEESSSS!

Monet--Good luck with the Detox--lt us know how it works. Are you going to make your drink with maple syrup or agave? I'm just curious.

Sarah--I haven't had a chance to welcome you to the baord yet! So WELCOME! Enjoy those shorts and let that snugness be an inspiration to you! Mine are a little snug too, so I'm above where I was last summer.

Tech--I've been thinking about getting an IPOD. How's it going? Enjoy the coming of spring! Sorry Easter was kind of of a bummer for you. I hope you can find a church you are comfortable with. If not get a group of folks together and create your own worship group. Make one you can live with! You can do it with all that spare time you have!:D

Jackie--I hope you are enjoying your nice weather. I haven't found anyother way to change the ticket other than doing it all over again. I agree--it's a pain!

Cindy--Hey! I can fell my energy level increasing with every degree the temp rises--how about you?

Toni--The fishng sounds like fun--enjoy the grandkids!

Time to get to work. Have a great OP day everyone!

Happy WIW, everyone!! I am so glad to be back on SB that I can't stand it. I lost 12 lbs!! Granted, that's the first week and a half, and going from fast food, cokes and candy to homecooked meals and water, but still, YAY!!! It makes me feel like I'm on the right track, being proactive for myself. Now I have to make myself go back to the pool. I love it once I'm there, but I hate getting into my suit and driving over. I don't know why.

FILLISE: Thank you, it's so good to see your pretty yellow kitty eyes again:)

MONET: You've got more willpower than I do, girlfren', that sounds AWFUL to me. And I believe in detoxing, I have a bottle of something doctors recommend to clean your innards out that I got for Christmas. (Only a REAL friend will buy you the colon blow you really want but won't buy for yourself:) ) Ever since I heard about how red meat and dairy can stay inside of a person...I've been wanting to try it. You mix this stuff half and half with Sprite (diet Sprite!) and it isn't supposed to be too bad. I wish you the best of luck with yours and join Jack-K in saying Please be careful:)

TECHWIFE: I'm sorry your holiday wasn't more fun. I live 1000 miles from my sisters and mom so I miss our family holidays too (your memories sound a lot like the ones we had as kids). I'm lucky, my housemates ARE my family here in TN and I get scolded if I don't go whereever they go for the holidays:) Seriously! I've been adopted, and I knew what to expect this year, but last year I went at Christmas and everyone was giving me presents... it made me cry. I used to work all the holidays so I never went before.

SARAH: It's glorious here in the Great Smokies of TN too!! It's been in the low to middle 70's all week, lots of sun with just a little rain. Our daffodils have been out for weeks and the Bradford pear trees are blooming their tiny white blossoms.

JACK-K: I tried resetting my ticker today by just changing the last number in the html code in the signature box, when I post, we'll see if it worked!! You know, where they list your three weights? The last one is your current weight:)

techwife

:strong: ARCAYNE!!!:strong: What an inspiration and GREAT start to your new way of living!! If TWELVE POUNDS isn't a positive start, I don't know what is!! That 60 pound regain will be fast history at this pace!! Colonblow for a gift? Wow, that is a TRUE friend!!

Fillise: My daughter has a mini iPod. To be honest, it's new technology as far as I'm concerned, all this MP3 stuff and file sharing and buying files off the internet...they still have a few niches to work out before it's as easy as buying a CD and popping it in your player. BUT, it's nice to go to iTunes and just buy the songs you like for 99 cents each instead of paying $15 or so for a whole CD and only liking a few songs. Transferring CD's to the iPod is a cinch and my DD has her Disney Mania and Hilary Duff songs transferred on and then we deleted the ones she doesn't like, etc...then bought some Jesse McCartney songs she likes with her gift card. It's cool...we like it...and it's hot pink with her name engraved on it, so she thinks she's just the hottest tamale there is going!! LOL I won't let her take it to school as I don't want her to be a show off OR have it get broken or stolen or taken away by the teacher, but I imagine that it'll be the talk of Girl Scouts on Friday when they all come to invade my house for the afternoon!!

Sarah: I live in Northern New York in the 1000 Islands. Although I grew up in Rochester, which is practically your neck of the woods in Western NY. 5 pounds already lost? That's superb!! Those shorts'll be loose on you before you know it!! Keep up the good work!!

Monet: Good luck with the VBS stuff. I miss that stuff, but then, again, I don't. I have my Girl Scout troop and they keep me plenty busy. I"m trying to book working on a build with Habitat for Humanity, but they never return my call. :( Now that the girls are Junior-about-to-bridge-to-Cadettes, they're harder and harder to keep satisfied and sometimes I feel like I'm not doing the troop justice. I can't take them campiing because my husband wouldn't talk to me for a week if I left for a weekend and left him alone. Which I can't blame him because he's gone a LOT for weeks at a time and just wants to be home with the family all here on weekends, so I have to pick my priorities and family, including hubby, always comes first. We'll be going to Six Flags in June and staying overnight and that's cool, but I jsut can't believe they're going to be Cadettes and they haven't been camping at Camp Trefoil!! It seems kinda bad.

As for your detox...hope you have a good book for all the throne time you'll be doing!! I've heard...things...about detox and it ain't pretty!! Just be careful!!

Jack: I usually start from scratch with my ticker. Although I'm not updating mine today...I was very, very bad over the weekend AND I just got my...uh...friend?...overnight, so the scale was pretty unkind to me today. I don't usually record 1-2 pound gains, which is all I have, I just work hard to get rid of it so my ticker and I are on the same page!!

Cindy and Country:

Toni: Enjoy those grandkids!!

I FINALLY found this awesome song I love, but didn't know the name or singer...I just hear it on the radio from time to time, but it goes "A little bit of this...a little bit of that....blah, blah, blah". I know it's on one of those horrendous KidsBob records they advertise on Nickelodeon, so I looked up those albums and listened to the clips of all the songs until I thought my ears would bleed and finally figured out it's called the Game of Love, but still didn't know who sang it...so I looked up the song on both iTunes and Napster and found out that it's by...SANTANA? And iTunes doesn't offer it unless you buy the whole album, so I downloaded it from Napster, but can only play it on my computer, so, I'm off to switch wash, open the windows, (it was a tad too chilly earlier) and do some cleaning with that song stuck on repeat on the 'puter while DS plays with his puzzles. What a GREAT day!! :D

It's official....I have ANOTHER UPPER RESPIRATORY INFECTION!!! I was talking to Susan about this just a while ago and I told her "If it weren't for BAD LUCK...I'd have NO LUCK at ALL!!!! It's been something since I returned from my Cousin's wedding in October!

JACKIE....BRING ON THE EXORSIST!!!! I'm READY!!!
The Doc gave me super strength AUGMENTIN and super strength COUGH MEDICINE...with something in it to help me sleep...which it did...until amost 11 this morning!!!!! Keep those fingers crossed that this is the last of the sickness!!!

My cough is so deep and so hard that my whole insides just ache everytime I cough! Kate told me this morning that if I'm not better by tonight (she must be looking for a miracle) that it's "no school tomorrow!!" Good afternoon ya'll. I promised I would quit hiding my current weight. After weighing a few times this morning till I got that last .5 pounds to come off...LOL My official weight is 160.

Arcayne..woo hoo on the 12 pounds! That is totally awesome. Keep up the good work.

Jack-K...WTG on your loss this week too!

Sarah...howdy from Texas. :) It's down right warm this afternoon. It's 86 already.

Bob...(((Hugzz)) I'm so sorry you are feeling poorly again. Praying for sure.

Monet...thank you. Stormy took that picture of me and Zachary. Zachary took one of me and the other two. I'll attach it so I can show them off also. :) Have you ever tried the lentils with spinach....yum yum How are you doing on your detox so far?

Techwife...how neat for your daughter. She will be the envy of all her friends.

Susan....isn't spring just awesome. Enjoy that beautiful day.

Cindy...your menus look so good.

Zachary is still working on his lessons and is learning cursive so I guess I'd better get.

God bless,

COUNTRY: Great pic! Thanks for sharing. I have not had lentils with spinach that I can remember, but I love them both, so it sounds good! Detox is not fun today. I have a headache from lack of caffiene, and I am feeling a bit nauseous. These are both symptoms of detox, so I will stick it out and hopefully feel better in a day or two.

BOB: Vitamin C! LOTS of it! Take four or five grams a day, spread out over the day to help boost your immune system. I hope you feel better soon! Listen to Kate...moms always know best.

TECH: Enjoy your music and cleaning! I think I may head on out and take a turn about the yard, and stuff. The weather is really nice here. I bet we are up at about 75 here.

Just checking in for a bit.

The sun is out and it is so nice, but it is a tad windy. I guess we can't have everything. I want to go home and sit onthe patio with a glass of wine, but I need to get my workout in before we have to leave at 7:30. We will see what I can work out.

Tech, sorry your EAster was such a bummer. I thought about you last night I was watching the news and they showed an ice breaker (don't know where it was). But it was cool. Cleaning and exercise always seems to ge quicker with loud music. I crank up the CMT channel while I'm on the treadmill.

Sarah, I guess we aren't eaxactly neighbors but at least touching states. I'm from Louisville, KY. The thought of summer clothes is keeping me on the straight and narrow too.

Monet, I guess Tom will be keeping an eye on you. I would hate for yo to pass out somewhere from hungar. You are a brave woman.

Susan, I found another way to change my ticker. I went into the signature box under user CP amd where you had previously pasted the htpp stuff, just change the middle number which was current weight. That way you don't have to paste it all again. I keep a bottle of colon blow in my fridge. Ever since chemo and now the Tamoxifan everything blocks me up. The joys of old age. Sorry I know TMI. Enjoy your sunshine.

Arcayne, 12 pounds is awesome  :cheer: When I first started I lost 8 pounds the first week and I was so motivated. I knew it was probably water, but hey, the scale ws going down. That's what it takes to get you going. Keep up the great work. Thanks I figured out the same thing on the ticker as you. Much easier. What sweet friends you have.

Bob, forget the exorcist, I think we should detox you. Maybe flush all that infection and germs and whatever out of your body. You need to wear a mask everywhere you go. Hope you feel much better tomorrow. I agree with Monet, double up on the Vit C.

Country, love the new avatar. You look so young. Kids are cuties too. 160 isn't so bad. Wish I could have it.

have a great night.

Hello all--just getting ready to shut down for the evening and wanted to pop in and say hello.

Cindy--I'm thinking about working in the yard this weekend myself. What will you be planting?

Monet--Hang in there, the first day or so is bound to be the roughest.

Jackie--Thanks for the ticker advice--I'll try it (when the scale moves again). I hear you about the colon blow! Now all of a suddent I miss Deb and Dookie Howser!

Country--I'm just glad you are back with us--now let's work in getting the scale to keep moving! Both of us!

Bob--Take care fo yourself--time to send those snowbirds home!

Tech--I've just gotten to the point where I can burn a music CD on my computer! I buy a lot of my music at Walmart cause their songs are just 88 cents each.

Arcayne--WTG on the 12 lbs!!!! WoooHooo! The two big blinks from the yellow eyes just for you!

Off to go fix supper. I was snacking on a bag of baby carrots this afternoon. I'm trying to up my veggie intake so they were the snack of choice today. I think I'm going to pull out one of the lean cuisines for tonight since I didn't thaw anything.

Hey everyone! I feel ok after a walk tonight. We did not go as far as we usually go, but probably got in 3/4 of a mile. I will probably go to bed early tonight. :)

I got the preliminary schedule done for VBS and sent it to the exec. director. She liked it, so tomorrow I just need to flesh it out a bit, and add some references for the stories, and give a bit of background on the overall theme, and I will be done! Yay!

I have to fix dinner for a family with a new baby tomorrow. That is NOT going to be easy! Can I do this for nine more days??? We shall see!

Day 2 of the detox: I woke up at about five, with a horrendous headache. Its still with me. I feel ok, a bit achy and tired, but that is to be expected. I slept pretty poorly last night. I had to get up about every two hours to pee. I guess that is good, but I have not gotten on the metal monster to see if it computes into weight loss. I decided to try using agave for 1/2 the maple syrup. It makes the lemonade more palatable.

The heavenly weather is gone. When I woke up at 4, it was raining already. There is a lot of thunder and lightning, and its dark gray and icky out there. And here I thought we were going to get a few days of sunshine! :(

I have to finish up that VBS stuff today, and make a meal for a friend with a new baby and run it over to her. I also need to go by the store and get more frozen strawberries for Tom's smoothies. I SHOULD go to Costco, but I don't feel like it. Maybe tomorrow.

SEBRAY: Great to see you! Post when you can! You know it will help with the eating and stuff. :) Enjoy your Gazelle!

Happy Thursday,

I thought is was Friday. I keep doing that, trying to erase Thursdays from the week. :dizzy:

Did manage to get my TM and wts in last night. I was doing my wts and got interrupted by someone from church who has colon cancer and wanted to talk about my chemo treatments. She is having a rough time. But I finished just in time for us to get out the door.

We have dinner out tonight with friends. I have to come up with a place. I hate picking. I will have to do my wts at lunch today and maybe will have time to get the TM in when I get home fromthe nursing home before we leave. I will have to rush. Hope I don't stink afterwards :fr:

Cindy I hope it warms up enough for you to ride your bike. DH is already planning on working in the yard too. I think it is supposed to rain here Saturday. And only be in the 50's. Don't work too hard.

Susan, I need to up my fruit intake. Probably good up the veggie intake also. But I really lack in the fruit area. I keep looking at the Lean Cuisine dinners and haven't bought any. I also see South Beach has some frozen dinners out now.

Monet, Hoping day 2 goes ok for you. I would be weak and shakey by now. I'm curious to hear what the scale says.

Sebray, welcome back. Isn't it sad that we always put the wt back and plus more. I guess it has to really be a conscience, foremost decision every days of our lives to diet. Try to get on here as much as you can and it will help. Hoping those 12 pounds come off just as easy as they went back on.

Got to get some work done here. Be back later. Have a great day.

Hi everyone!
Another nice day here...but the storms...they are a'comin'! The wind is blowing like mad and the sky looks wicked to the west.

Bob..I feel your pain. I have been sick so long this year..(and the end of '04) that I am about ready to scream!! Hang in there...I am down to no hearing in one ear..but, beside that..I am doing much better. My prayers are going out to you!!

86 in Texas...I envy you so much Crystle!!!!

Yeah, gotta keep those shorts/capris/bikinis (oh dear, did I say the 'b' word--haha) in check..I want to wear them this summer and have them be loose!

5lbs is right. Might be water...might have had that TOM bloating when I did my initial weigh-in...but, scale looks better..I am taking it!

I will check back soon.

Hope the detox is going okay, Monet...let me know what you are doing exactly..I have ALWAYS wanted to do a detox.

I am a newbie and glad to be here! Instead of contributing a recipe, I really need to know if anyone has any for me! I need to know if anyone has any recipes that I could use to sneak in some extra veggies and fiber into my kiddos. They are 10 and 13 and on basically a "sugarbusters for kids" plan. This was recommended by both their pediatrician and my son's endocrinologist. They have both had bloodwork done because they were exercising, but still gaining weight. That's how we found out that both of them already have high cholosterol and my son is insulin resistant. They like tomato sauces and different types of gravies. (Don't we all! :^: ) So I was wondering if anyone has any ideas, maybe I could blend in veggies to a spagetti sauce or something to serve with the ww pasta? Any ideas would be appreciated! Thanks! ;)

Its me...Monet in detox land! I just got in from the store. I did pretty well. I usually buy too much, but today, I pretty much just got what was on my list and a few items that should have been but were not.

JACK: You sure stay busy! You are always going someplace! I am not weak or shakey...I feel pretty good actually. The scale was down an amazing five pounds this morning. I think the lemonade keeps you from being too drained. I can't believe this is true, but I do feel less stiff, and sore, and more flexible. Right now, I will just take one day at a time and see how it goes.

SARAH: I hope you don't get the rain like we have! Its been raining cats and dogs all morning! I bet we have gotten over an inch already. I am doing a detox diet/fast a friend recommended. Its called the Master Cleanse, or the Lemonade diet. Its not very complicated, and I am not totally sure its better than a water fast, but since my friend did it, I thought I would try it. You can do a search for Master Cleanse on Google and find how to do it online. Basically, you make a lemonade with fresh lemon, maple syrup and filtered water, with a tad of cayenne pepper in it. You drink this concoction and nothing else, except a laxative tea at night and a quart of salt water in the morning to flush out your system. So far, it seems to work pretty well. You are supposed to do it for ten days, but I am not sure I will make it that long. I will keep you posted! :)

THIN: Hi! Welcome to our little corner of cyberspace! We are very glad you are here! Today is recipe day, isn't it? :o I think your idea of mixing veggies into spaghetti sauce is a good one. You can blend carrots, onions, spinach, bell peppers and fresh tomatoes and mix them in. Use it for ww pizza, which ought to be a hit with 10 and 13 year olds! If they like pasta, you could use it over ww pasta, or even in a ww lasagna. Do they like Mexican? That can be loaded with veggies too. If they will eat veggies and dip, keep baby carrots, cut up celery and anything else they will eat prepared and easy to grab in the the fridge. If they like quiche, make it with spinach in it. There are a lot of recipes on the recipe boards. Have you had the chance to look through them? I know there is a lot, so it can be daunting! I will look through what I have here, and see if there is anything that would appeal to veggie hating kids! :)
I notice you are in north Georgia...may I ask where? I live in Duluth. Its nice to have another Georgian on here!

Oh Monet...I just checked the Master Cleanse...Lemonade Cleanse etc..sites that google.com pulled up...oh my..how long are you going to do it?? I probably missed when you originally said about it, but..I am too lazy to look at old posts..lol!

I would LOVE to detox my body..I have a history of bad "tummy" and joints etc..my family all has problems like that..and headaches...etc. So, a detox would be good. The only problem is..I cook for my family (which consists of DH, DS, DD, DM (mom) and DD (dad)) on a daily basis..and I would probably get some flack for this. I used to be a vegetarian..and I got so much trouble from everyone!! I am pretty strong willed though.

So, what has everyone eaten today? My father..he is awesome, made me and my DD breakfast. She got pancakes...and I got a florentine omelette! It was made with eggs, spinach, some bacon (not much) and cheese. Please tell me this is allowed?? I am reading and re-reading the book.

What is everyone's take on red wine? I like to have a drink now and then and I have cut beer totally out (yay) and I really just need to know if wine is actually okay. In the book it says that 1-2 glasses are okay? I have the New Sugar Busters! book...it has a chart...I think...(yeah, now you guys are thinking I am an alkie!)

Still no rain here...it looks like bad rain is coming still..and I have looked at the radar...oh my...storms during my kid's nap time...looks like mommy might not get "tae bo" time..haha!! I grab a little workout time usually when they nap. I have already gazelled for 20 minutes and plan on doing the elliptical tonight for 30 min. I am really trying to get the exercise back into my life.

By the way, thanks for letting me know all of your locations. It makes it easier to think...okay "monet from georgia" etc. etc...yeah, I am crazy...I know..haha!!

I will check back later...

OT, just found out my grandmother's blood is way down again...she has been fighting pneumonia for the last 1 1/2 months and she is bleeding internally somewhere and they don't know where. Please keep her in your prayers. I know the inevitable will happen some day..but, I don't want it any time soon.

Good afternoon.... All is fine here. Busy with the grandkids still. My eating is horrible and I can't wait to go grocery shopping tomorrow and get some better food in this house. I've got to get back OP. I really want the sweets out of my house but the kids have candy everywhere. Next week is sugar detox for me. Monet you are brave for doing your detox. I did one, one time for 7 days. But now I just don't have it in me. Everyone sounds busy and doing good. Bless you Bob I'm so sorry you're sick again. Welcome the new people. Better go now. Hubby is home sick from work. We've all got the sore throats here.

Just checking in....

If anyone has a Whole Foods, I found these cute little bunny snack crackers. They are Called Annies Whole Wheat Bunnies. Sometimes you just need a salty snack. They have white cheddar in them. Pretty good and 50 crackers are a serving.

I did manage to do my wts at lunch today. Now to get home in time to get the TM in too.

Sarah, you take 5 lbs any way you can get it.

Monet, what areyou going to do when you have to cook for small group, etc? Just not eat? hang in there. You know I bore easily. We are always on the go somewhere. I do stay home on Mondays & TUesdays.

Thinwithin, Welcome. I hope you will stay with us. How about some zucchini, mushrooms to spaghetti sauce, They are pretty disguisable. It's great you are taking action to keep your kids eating healthy.

Sarah, your omelett is fine. I drink wine. I only drink white zifendale or a red zifendale (which I just discoverd). I usually have a drink in the hot tub every other night and on Friday and Saturday nights when we go out. I'm a bigger alkie than you. Sending prayers for your GM hope they find the problem.

Toni, hope you are feeling better. You can count on kids to give you an illness. They seem like little germ breeders. Enjoy the last few days with the kiddos.

Bob, I was hoping you would be better today. Is Kate fixing you chicken soup? I thought a a fish place but with Lent just passing, we are all tired of fish.

Guess I better go pretend I'm working.

Ut oh...I did something wrong and deleted my post. What a goober. :) We've been working in the garden again today. The speckled butter beans are planted and another row of Marglobe tomatos. They are kinda punny but we've hoping they will take off. There is still another row of super sweet that need to be planted and the radishes. My legs are like rubber and my back is in rebellion.

Welcome Thin! What kind of veggies do you kiddos like? I hear you about the sauces and gravies...yum. At first I gave up milk gravy but now I just make it with ww flour if I want some. Sometimes I add different cheeses to it and call it a sauce. It works great with pasta, meat and veggie cassaroles.

Jack-K...you lush... :) Just teasin'. You are so faithful to your exercise. You are still an inspiration and super modivator.

Monet...wow I don't think I could drink the salt water. The other part doesn't sound too bad. Praying you get good benifits from your efforts.

Sarah...I agree. It's neat knowing where everyone is from. How do you like your gazelle? I've contimplating buying one for a long time but was afraid it might get old too fast. It looks fun though. Praying for you and your grandma.

Bob....Sounds like a good plan. You need to rest and get your strength back. Hope you feel tons better soon.

Toni...sorry you caught a nasty sore throat. Luckily the kids candy doesn't appeal to me but an open bag of chips....they just taunt me. :)

Sebray....hang in there. With classes almost over and summer around the corner you'll be able to focus more on you.

Susan...thanks. We can do this! ((hugzz))

I guess I've taken a long enough break. Back to work.

Love and hugs,
Crystle

Oh my, I am so behind again. Glad to know the board is hopping though :) It is sure wet and raining here and I am so ready to see the sun again. I think tomorrow will be rainy as well :(

I went to see my new OBGYN today (actually saw a midwife) and was very pleased with how the practice works and how efficient they are. I managed to "convince" the midwife that I do not need to go thru the glucose screening test like everyone else who is non-diabetic and she agreed that I shouldn't need to. I am so happy because I really don't want to do thru that 3-hr test drinking that yucky sweet stuff again since I am already "diabetic" (my family dr diagnosed that I am pre-diabetic) or close to. Now, all I have to do is monitor my blood sugars in the am and 2-hours after meals which are totally what I expected and happy about. I have also started to gain some weight which my I glad because I lost quite a bit of weight during the 1st trimester, basically down to 100 lbs but now I am back to 105 lbs. The weather is starting to warm up so I am going to incorporate some walking whenever the weather permits.

Menu for today so far :

Breakfast : 1 piece for ww bread with a piece of spam (not so good choice but that was the faster protein I could reach for before heading out)

Snack : Fruits

Lunch : Veal scalloppini with lemon butter sauce, brown rice veggies pilaf, green beans, and some cauliflower stir-fry.

Snack : Fruits and a protein, not sure what protein yet.

Dinner : Some leftover from lunch and will add some protein as well.

REPLIES :

SARAH : I don't believe I have welcome you yet since I have been away. Glad you are here and looking forward to know you. So far I gather that you are a very sensible and positive women...you are right, baby steps!! Keep it up. I am in south of Atlanta, GA but originally from asia.

MONET : Your post about having lunch at the Japanese restaurant makes me crave for Japanese food. I love teriyaki...of all sort. I have to find a Japanese restaurant here that I like and most importantly serves reasonable lunch menu so I can take advantage of it with some girlfriends once in a while :) Hope your detoxing gets better everyday. The only time I came close to "detoxing" was before my colonscopy procedure and boy... that was hard.

CINDY : How are you today? It is rainy and wet here but the temp was still nice and warm.

TECH : Your daughter is more technology advance that I am...LOL, now more so with iPOD...lol. I am sure she will enjoy it tremendously. Tech, my family is half way across the world so I can understand how "lonely" and sad when holidays come. Over the last 2 years I have been very fortunate to "find" and "adopted" some new families here which has been how dh and I spent the most of our holidays with. I also tried to create my own "traditions" and fun for some holidays so I don't feel so lonely and sad when the holidays come. Infact, I just spent Easter with my neighbor and her family up the street, it was so much fun. My neighbor told me I am like her "daughter" now which makes me feel so good being apart of a big family. I pray and hope that God sends you more wonderful people your way and hopefully become your extended family which you find comforts in spending time with them, especially more so around the holidays. I have been praying for mine for years and finally found them :)

FILLISE : It was nice and sunny here in GA until today but the temp has been nice and warm. I am certainly enjoying seeing the flowers bloom. Glad you are feeling much better now that spring is here :)

ARCAYNE : I don't remember if we have "met" you since I took a break from the board
but I look forward to get to know you. Congrats on your 12 lbs loss but most importantly, for making an excellent choice in eating well. Keep it up!

BOB : Oh my, my heart feels for you. I am glad your illness is diagnosed and hope the antibiotics works quickly and efficiently so that you can be back on your feet again. {{{hugs}}}}

COUNTRY : Love the pics...what a sweet family :)

SEBRAY : Glad to see you back. Check in whenever you can :)

THIN : Welcome, glad to have you here with us. Spaghetti sauce is definitely a good place to sneak in some veggies such as diced carrots, spinach, onions etc. If you make their fav casseroles, sneak in more veggies. I make rice pilaf of all kinds, mostly with chopped veggies like bell-peppers, onions, spinach, cherry tomatoes, eggplant is good too, zucchini etc. The choices are unlimited, just make sure the dishes are well seasoned and delicious so they would overlook the veggies. If they like cheese sauce, cover their veggies with cheese sauce. Do they like soup? You can add lots of them in soups plus veggies make the soups very tasty. If they do not like steam or boiled veggies (which I don't as much since they taste a little blend to me), try stir-fry with some delicious sauce, or roast them. I like roasting veggies like asparagus, zucchini, broccoli, onions, squash, fennel, carrots etc. Most of the time I will marinate the veggies first in any combination of sauces/herbs or spices/seasoning for 5 to 10 mins and then roast them (in one layer) on a oven safe sheet pan, like 400 degrees for 15 to 20 mins, depends on how big your veggies are cut up, what the veggies are and how tender or crunchy you like them. If you make meatloaf or meatloaf patties, add in finely chopped veggies like celery, carrots, onions, bell peppers, mushrooms etc. I love meatloaf or meat patties with lots of veggies. How about breakfast cheesy burritoes with some chopped veggies, cheese makes everything taste better...lol. As for what to serve with ww paste, you can serve it with stews (loaded with chopped veggies which by the time the stew is done, the veggies will not be too visible. I also stir-fry ww pasta with veggies and meat. You can stir-fry them together with some nice sauce which are not full of sugar or lotsa not-healthy ingredients. A lot of sauces can be make with chicken, beef, veggies stocks with ww flour, spices seasoning etc which can be very yummy. You can also make ww pasta bake with broccoli, bell peppers, cheese, ground meat etc too. I do not have any recipes at this instance but I will try check my cookbooks and see if I can find anything that you can try. Hope you stick around with us.

Got to go...spent too much time online already :)

:dizzy: Thanks so much for all your ideas! I can't wait to try them! I live in a small town in North Georgia called Ball Ground. We are about 80 miles north of Atlanta. I do roasted veggies quite often, with the only problem being they pick out what they don't like. If I do the sauce for pizza or pasta I can run them through the processor and no one will know  Mwahahah! When I make veggie suop I process my beef broth with some kidney beans and add it to my base with the tomatoes. Hubby and kids love the "spices" that I put in. Sneaky I know!

Only have a moment to post. Eating has NOT been good. But I'm back on the wagon today.

CINDY- I checked out the reviews for the walkblaster and figured that it wouldn't be challenging enough for me in the long run. Sounds good for beginners to intermediate though.

Here's my menu for the day:

BF- boiled egg and yogurt
Lunch- had various steamed veggies topped with a slice of cheese
Snack- another yogurt
Supper- will be 2 hamburger patties with legal sauce(no bread) and legal coleslaw(homemade).

I have to go!

Aww..its almost Friday. Been a long week and Im so looking forward to the weekend.
Our good weather is gone. It dropped 30 degrees today and rained most the day with lots of wind. Oh well ... Just have to wait it out.

Fillise- I think this year Im going to grow some radishes and red peppers. Last year I did a couple different hot peppers and chilies ( like the ones for chilie rellenos), the year before I did tomatos ( I do just pot growing with veges) . Outside of that I just tend to my plants and flowers . I still have alot of planting to do in our backyard since we havnt finished out there yet. Our house was built a few years ago with no landscaping in the back outside of grass so weve been adding a little every season.

Sebray- yea on the gazelle. I have one too and love it!

Thinwithin- just wanted to say HI ! :)

Bob- Get better !! Im sorry your still not feeling well.

Kengjw- Im great today.. raining here now :(

Back to the rain--4 inches today and bad storms. I thought my power adapter on my computer got fried last night (I unhooked the computer, but not the adapter). Thankfully it is ok!

I just wanted to pop in and say hello. It's been a long day and I'm really tired. I'll try to do replies tomorrow.

Hello from Detox land! I actually feel pretty good tonight. I am cheating though and not drinking the laxative tea, or doing the salt water flush in the morning, due to having someplace to go early. Its my volunteer day at the church, so I don't want to have detox elimination issues while there! :o

I just ordered $100 worth of stuff for the art festival for the kids area. I got modeling clay, watercolors, drawing paper, ( the color pencils were out of stock! darn!) potholder looms and loops, and paints for the community painting. (we have a very large stretched canvas for people to paint on) We had a meeting tonight and I am feeling a bit encouraged. The music will be awesome! We will have classical piano, viola and violin, celtic, a harpist and flutist, bluegrass, and some contemporary stuff.

Another great thing that happened today...I finished the VBS stuff and sent it to the director! Hooray! I just hope she doesn't find anything wrong with it that I have to fix!

I really should do replies, but I am kind of tired, so I am going to head off to bed now. Will try and do replies in the morning before I have to leave!

Sweet dreams everyone!

Hello everyone! Sorry I have been missing in action. But I have stayed on the plan and have lost 15 lbs so far since the middle of Feb. It really feels good that my clothes are getting baggy again! Plus with weather warming up, my gardening will be a great deal of exercise for me! It is nice to see all the new members! This is a great group. I will try to stay in touch! So what have I missed?

Good Morning from Detox land! Slept pretty good last night. I did not keep waking up to go potty, so I figured the scale would not be very exciting. Not so! I hopped on the metal monster and I am down NINE pounds since Wednesday morning! Those of you who have been around awhile and know how I struggle to lose even one pound can probably guess how I feel...

So, I will continue another day on this. I did not do the evening and morning rituals because I need to leave in an hour and a half and would not have had time! Tonight and tomorrow I will though. :)

DRUM: Good to see you! I was wondering where you were! How is the weather up there? Cindy says not so good...and you are not too far from her, right? The dogwoods down here are opening...it sure is pretty with everything in bloom! The Yoshino cherry trees are blooming too, which means we will have to make sushi and go sit under the ones in the office park near here, eat sushi and drink sake! Its something my family does every year...

SEBRAY: I suggest chewing on your nails, rather than pulling out your hair! :) Good to see you! You need to watch Supersize Me. It is rather inspirational for avoiding the BK and MickyD places. I have not been able to stomach them since I saw it. The extras on the DVD with the french fries that never decomposed make me lose all interest in fast food fries! Good luck on your tests!

KENG: If you ever are coming up to the Buford Hwy Farmer's Market, PLEASE PM me and let me know. We could meet for lunch. :) I would love to take you to my favorite Japanese place...you sit on the floor on cushions! (they have cheater holes under the table for people like me who can't sit crosslegged!) The brown rice she serves is really good. I hope she will perfect brown rice sushi and then I will be in there all the time! It is only one exit up from the BFM.

FILLISE: Do you feel like a duck yet? I swear we are going to need a boat to go check the mail! I hope we get some sunny weather soon!

JACK: When I have to cook for small group I just will sit down with my glass of lemonade I guess. I am sure I will get all kinds of questions, but I guess that is to be expected! :) You are doing great with getting in your TM and weights! You aren't over training with the weights are you? I have always heard you need a day or two inbetween to rebuild what you have stressed to gain strength. Tom alternates days with his weight lifting and aerobic exercise. He will do only three weight workouts a week, alternating upper and lower body so he has plenty of time between workouts to 'recover'.

CINDY: I am sorry the temps dropped so much! Aren't you glad its Friday!

HEART:  Do we need to send BOB and the wagon your way?

THIN: I used to process eggplant and add it to my spaghetti sauce. The family loved it. Until they found out what I was doing, then suddenly it tasted funny! Kids! Wow, Ball Ground is not too far from me. I can tell you all the places to find hard to find stuff...like agave! (I get it at Sevananda in Little Five Points because they have the best price, and my kids go down there a lot and can pick it up for me!) Do you ever get down into the Duluth area?

COUNTRY: Thank you for the prayers! I need that more than anything! :) I am glad you are getting the garden all planted! I wish I was! And Tom is going off to help a young guy from church build a deck tomorrow, so he won't be working in the garden again! All the stuff I started from seed is up and almost ready to go into the ground!

BOB: Hope you are feeling better! Are you taking the Vitamin C I told you to take???

ARCAYNE: Have you gone to the water class yet? Are you doing ok? Its great to have you back! :)

TONI: I hope you are enjoying those grandkids... Did you get the chance to shop so you won't be faced with temptations and nothing legal?

SARAH: The detox is going well. I am not sure I would recommend it to anyone...but I guess after a few more days I will have a better idea. The big weight loss is a plus, but its really not the best way to lose. I think if people go on it for weight loss, its the wrong reason! I knew I had a lot to detoxify my system from. I have been on a boatload of medications over the years...and I am hoping this will heal something inside me and allow me to lose weight normally. I found cooking for my family was not too difficult. It smelled divine, but I did not have to make choices. You know? I have gotten very little flack from my husband so far, but he keeps asking me about protein.

I think that is everyone...time to go hop in the shower! If I missed you, please point out my error! I would not want to do it intentionally! Later!

:rain: Good morning from Georgia! We are under another flood watch because of all this rain. When is it going to end? The question I have is how do you judge portion sizes on lasagnes and casseroles that you make up yourself? Some recipes have serving info at the bottom, but what if it's something you just come up with on your own? I made baked chicken with a lime and garlic marinade last night and a brown rice pilaf with mushrooms, onion and garlic. Yummy! The kids loved it, they just complained about it being a little spicy. Maybe I will tone down the marinade a little next time.

Hi guys!!! Does anyone have the problem that...you read everyone's posts and forget exactly who said what?? I need to keep a notepad with me so I can refer back and talk to everyone separately like you all do so well! Monet, I even like your different colours..it makes it easier to read!

Well, we never got our rain here...and it is a little cooler than yesterday, but still beautiful! I have been out with the kids and our new double bike trailer...this is my first day out with the bike trailer and like any mom, I am a bit nervous about its safety...but, it seems extremely stable. We are taking a break now for fluids and then we are going back out on it.

Today I had the same omelette...it was good..but, I burned my egg a bit.

Question to you all...I absolutely have a snack I LOVE..and I want to make sure it is okay. I cut up a small apple and then, in a little custard dish I melt some peanut butter (smuckers, natural) and a little butter..to make it liquidy (is that a word?) Tell me, is this okay and on plan??

I had liver for dinner last night (we went out to eat) and they wanted to put a "potato" with it...so, I asked them if I could substitute vegetables..so, they did. It was good! I saw that liver was okay here and there...I read it in the book.

I am glad that wine is okay. Tomorrow night I have to go out with DH to "casino night"--he is a manager at Enterprise Rent-a-Car..and they put on some fun events. So, tomorrow night is going to be wine, beer (a no no) and pizza...what to do about that? Last year, they just had pizza...chips...pretzels...and no veggie trays or anything good. I scraped the cheese off the pizza last year (was cutting out bad carbs then too)--is that the best thing to do? Maybe, eat before I go?? Oh, I will play it by ear...but, I won't fall off the wagon.

I don't know if it is in my head, but, I am feeling a bit looser in my pants??? I just can't wait until I feel "wonderful."

I may try that detox, Monet..I am contemplating a 10 day ordeal. I think 10 days out of 365 shouldnt' cause too much upset in my family???

Okay, will check back later. I have to work tonight 2-8pm est. (yes, it will be edt soon!!! 4/3 right?)

Thanks for all the kind words about my Grandma...

Okay...so...we had ONE nice day this week...well, actually yesterday was pretty nice, too, but I was grocery shopping and mostly missed it...BUT, day before yesterday it was in the mid 50's and I had my wash drying in the sunny breeze and now...They actually had the words SNOW and ACCUMULATION in the forecast for the weekend!! At least we've finally gotten rid of the the leftover piles before this new coating takes place. Cripes! It's a wonder we don't all come down with P-neumonia, as my mom would say...!!

Sebray!! So nice to see you back on the boards again!! Trust me when I tell you that any weight loss I've had has been painstakingly slow. But I'm holding fast to 166 and I'm down a jeans size from 16's to 14's!! And I zip them standing up and can breathe as well!! Get back on the wagon and catch up with me m'dear!! Believe me, I'll be at 166 for a while!!

Thinwithin: Welcome to our cozy corner of the boards. Have you tried Cauliflower Soup? I can't remember if the recipe is in the Sugar Busters book or the South Beach book, but it's made in the crock pot and is really good!! I'll try and find the recipe and post it in the recipe board.

Monet: You're detox is sounding just...lovely? At least it seems to be working for you!! I hope the benefits include more than weight loss. Don't stay on it too long because your hubby's right...you'll be needing some protien soon!! Just stay safe!!

DRUM!! 15 pounds is fabulous!! You've got me beat and in less time, too!! Keep up the great work!!

Susan: I'm glad your 'puter made it through the big ZAP!! That's scary stuff!!

Cindy: I'm going to plant some beefsteak tomatoes, red and green peppers, radishes, peas, beans and maybe carrots. The easy stuff that my brother and I used to grow in our garden when we were kids. I LOVE gardens.

Julia: I'm happy for you that you don't have to take that vile solution for the diabetes test...That test ruined my whole day with both pregnancies! Bleh! Good luck with the new Gyno!

Crystle: Great pictures!! Thanks for sharing!!

BOB: So sorry you're not feeling well....you do have all the luck!!

Toni, Jack, Sarah and anyone else I missed: HIYA!!

I would love to reply further, but I have to get ready for Girl Scouts and remember to toss in lunch, as well. I have to clean off my back porch and mop it...this time of year, the mud is unbelieveable!! And the litter box has been neglected, as usual, and I have to do that up, as well, then clean my clutter corner in my kitchen and dust and...well, I better just get to it!! Have a great day, guys!!

Good morning...

Today is a lazy day, I went back to sleep after making dd breakfast...lol. I knew I had a little time because she usually watches her fav shows in the morning :) Anyway, now that I am up, I hope to be more productive today despite the feeling of laziness.

REPLIES :

SARAH : What a sweet and thoughtful dad.....the florentine omelette sounds yummy! Yes, the omelette was totally legal so you can enjoy it again and again!! Take your time with SB book, just don't worry with every little tiny details, as long as you get the whole concept, that is the most important thing, IMO. I believe that SB allows red wine (dry red wine??) but on a limited basis which I believe you will have to use your own judgement. I don't drink wine of any kind but I love cooking with it though...just add such good flavour to the dish. Sorry to hear about your grandma, will keep her in my prayers.

TONI : Get back on the wagon asap and you will be just fine. Are you grand kids still here? Oh no...hope whatever sickness lingering in your house will go away soon.

BOB : I know what you mean about sick of being tired. I just cannot imagine your frustration and how much you are going thru...over and over again. I do not know what to say except that my prayers are with you and hope all the bad stuff stays away from you for a long long time :)

COUNTRY : Your garden must be such a sight when it comes to harvesting the fruit of your labor. I don't do wellwhen it comes to yard work of any kind. My legs gets wobbly and then I get dizzy...lol. I always do a little at a time...sounds worst than my grandma...LOL.

THIN : I have not heard of Ball ground but then again I haven't heard of many places :) Looks like you already have some neat tricks to sneak in the veggies for your kids :) As for portions of lasagna, I always try to use my own judgement which I may not be right but I try to be sensible. I usually just cut a square of lasagna that looks like the size of my palm, not bigger unless I intend to indulge that day. I am pre-diabetic so I have access to a glucose meter where I can measure my blood sugar 1 to 2 hours after meal. If my blood sugars are well within the good range, I know that portion is okay for me. As for pasta, half cup of cooked pasta is 1 serving. I stick to one serving. If you have veggies, meat and other stuff cooked with the pasta, then it will be more than 1/2 cup right. Yum....your menu yesterday sounds yummy...you are quite a cook, please do not hesitate to share your recipes with us. I love trying new recipes.

It's time to pay some bills and then get my chicken marinated before lunchtime is here :) Will check in later.

Julia

HEART : My eating hasn't been as well as I would like to but there is always better choices on the next meal. Glad you are back on the wagon :)

CINDY : Our yard is pretty bare until last Fall when we finally asked the landscaper to help us put in some plants and trees. Our backyard is still pretty bare but we will work on it slowly. We had our house built too...by my husband since he is a builder, as well as an engineer...lol. My veggie garden has yet to be materialise but it is still in my to do list...maybe next year...lol.

FILLISE : Glad your computer is okay. It is raining here for the 2nd day...sighhh, I really missed the sun now. I am glad we don't live near any creeks though.

SEBRAY : WTG on your exercise!! Like Monet said, don't pull your hair...just relax and hope the words will flow out easier. There is sure a lot going on right now but do take good care of yourself :) I am doing good. The morning sickness is gone and the baby is doing fine. Can you believe that I am 17 weeks now?? My belly is getting bigger but not too noticeable yet :)

DRUMFLOWER : Congrats on the 15 lbs loss!! WTG! Baggy clothes are always very motivating...bottle up that motivation and keep making those great decisions :)

MONET : Glad you are feeling better today. 9 lbs is awesome! Sorry, I haven't been up to Buford but I am keeping you in my mind when I do. I am so out of stocks but I am also so lazy as well.

I am here...only for another minute..but, checked back...and I just have to say YOU GUYS ARE SO NICE! I am thrilled I found this board. I feel confident I can do this WOL and you guys will become good "friends!"

They used the word "snow" for us for tomororw too...I think that is a crappy 4-letter word!

Yes, the wine is a dry red. Only way I will drink it, I never have been able to stomach sweet wine..which is good, I guess.

SARAH : There is no way I could remember what everyone's typed in their posts. What I do is I open up two windows. One window is for me to type the replies while another one is for me to read as I reply to each posts. I am not sure what others do but this has work well with me otherwise, I will need to pull my hairs out trying to remember what everyone wrote...lol. I haven't ride a bike for a longgggggggg time so if I were to start now, I would be nerve-wrecking too :) Looks like you are doing wonderfully as it is, keep it up. As for your apple, peanut butter snack, it is totally legal. Enjoy! You are absolutely right about eating a little before you go out to someone's party or an event where you know that they do not have much or any legal stuff. Sometimes I will still eat a little of the illegal stuff but I portion control it but that's if you can control the portion. Sometimes we just have to make the best choices of all the not-so good choices available there but then again, you really don't have to eat them either especially if you have something at home before the party. It is really up to you but most importantly, enjoy yourself!!

Okay, really have to go.

I'm glad to see the board hopping so much today.

Well I didn't get my TM in last night. Just not enough time. Will try to get it in over the weekend. I was hoping it would be nice enough to walk outside this weekend, but I don't think that is going to happen.
I had a pecan encrusted chicken salad at dinner last night and 2 glasses of wine.

bf: protein bard
lunch: bean burrito (ww shell)
dinner ?

Country, with your garden and all your meat, you won't even have to go to the grocery. Shame you can't grow chips! Don't overdo with your back.

Ken, glad you like your new ob/gyn. That is very imporatant. WTG getting our of that test again.

Laurie, get back on here soon. Have a good weekend.

Cindy, it is cold here today too. Oh well, we just have to be patient.

Susan, hope you are having a good day even though it's raining.

Monet, WTG getting all that stuff done. :cheer: Congrats on the 9 lbs. That is awesome. I only work one body part a day. CHest one day, biceps, one day, lower body. That way it doesn't take too long and I quit doing it. I don't workout on the weekends either.

Sebray, sounds like you are one busy person. School will be out soon. Hang in there.

Drum, Congrats on your 15 lb loss. Baggy clothes are a wonderful feeling.

Thin, portion sizes are the standard government guidelines. Meat 3 oz (size of a deck of cards). You don't have to count calories or carbs or fats so just watch your portion size.

Sarah, most of us open notepad from word or a word document and read and flip back to post as you read each one. Then copy and paste into your reply. Your little snack is legal. Eat a salad before your go out. Then just eat the topping off the pizza. Have a good time.

Tech, have fun with all th ose Girl Scouts tonight.

have a great day and a great weekend.

just a quick post this morning/afternoon.....i got on the scale this morning and im down 1.5 pounds...not sure if its because when i weighed myself before it was in the afternoon/evening and today i did it as soon as i woke up...but either way im not complaining hehe its amazing how just a little bit of loss does wonders for your motivation :D the kids and i are going to make some cc cookies today but i dont have enough splenda to substitute so ill have to be extra good when i eat them....going to get back on the gazelle today....im so happy that i havent been sore at all after using it so far.....

i had my advisement for next sememster and found out i have to take 2 classes this summer in order to stay on track for graduation....in fact im basically going to have to kill myself for the next year and a half in order to graduate on time  but ill be able to graduate in exactly 2 years if i follow my adviser's plan....so we'll see... i just want to get past this summer....i have to take a second year french class (its been12 years since ive had my 1st year) but i need it in order to continue on with my studies....i think ill audit the class....that way it wont affect my gpa...

Keng: WOW 17 weeks already?!?! has it been that long since ive been here?? Im so glad to hear u and the baby are doing good...do u know what ur having yet? or is it too early?

Tech: Im running Im running  ill try to catch up to you :) although with my hectic life right now i doubt ill be able too....im just so glad that youve lost so much :)

Jack-K: yes school will be out soon but only for a few weeks then i have to start the summer semester.....i wonder if i ran away if anyone in my family would miss me

Boy is it windy today. It feels so nippy afte being so warm earlier in the week. I finally tried the nappa cabbage. It's okay cooked but I loved it raw. I took a bite of the chicken and rolled it in one of the leaves and it had a wonderful texture and taste. Something I will try again with different fillings.

Monet...awesome on the weight loss. Is your energy level okay? How is are the caffiene headaches?

Jack-K...chips did you say chips.. :) Good thing I can't grow them. Don't know why they are such a challenge for me but they truly are. Last week I had some pepper chips that were SO good. Hope the weather lets up so you can walk outside a little this weekend.

Tech...your menu seems so light. I bet all that snow gets so old. I have a friend in New York and I think they only had about 3 months last year without snow.

Sarah..We're glad you found the board also. You are such a blessing. Your apple snack sound delicious. It would make a good topping for oatmeal at breakfast. Don't let me kid you I'm not a breakfast eater but if I were I'd eat it..LOL Sometimes I take a packet of Splenda and mix it with the peanut butter and they dip the apples in it. Never thought of melting it.

Kenj...Are you going to find out the sex of your baby before it's born? My son's girlfriend is due in Oct. We went to the first visit and told him he could go home because they don't do anything on the first visit and they did an ultrasound. They are going to do another one next visit which really surprises me that they would do so many.

Thin...praying the weather lets up soon. You dinner sounds delicious....spicy is good. :) We eat such spicy things I don't realize how spicy until someone outside the family tells me that it's either too hot. salty or garlicky.

Drum...have we already meet? I don't remember so in case we haven't...HOWDY! :) Welcome back and congratulations on your weight loss.

Heart..hang in there...you can do this. Remember you are helping me get back on track. Grab my hand and come on. ((hugzz))

Toni and Bob...hope you guys are feeling better today.

Love and hugs,
Crystle

Eating today..so far:
B - omelette w/spinach and asparagus (2 eggs, a little cheese) - hot sauce over top

L - chef salad w/carb well-light dressing (no sugar), 1 egg, ham/turkey/cheese

S (at work) - celery/apple

D (not yet, planned) - Donato's Low Carb Italian wrap (everyone else is getting pizza---the low carb wraps are whole wheat...and it has good stuff on it...hopefully it is legal...)

I am glad my apple snack is okay!!! I think I am going to get some almonds from the store. Something cool...I don't crave sweets...no, no desserts anymore. I am THE BIGGEST DESSERT ADDICT! and, I don't need them anymore. It has only been about 5 days...I am AMAZED!

GOOD FRIDAY AFTERNOON ALL YOU BUSTER BUDDYS!!

I'm actually feeling a little better today. Not quite as tight in the chest as in days gone by. MAYBE....JUST MAYBE these antibiotics are helping!
NOW KATE HAS THIS CRUD.....MY HOPEFUL SALVATION IN THAT IS THAT SHE HAS HAD A FLU SHOT AND A PNEUMONIA SHOT!!! I just fixed her some chicken soup, and she's in there watching CNN...waiting on news from the POPE...Bless his heart, he just needs to let go, THE GOOD LORD is ready for him.

Kate sent me to the drug store for her remedies...VICKS VAPOR RUB for her chest, COUGH MEDICINE with an EXPECTORANT....The first five yrs of my life were spent coated in VICKS...it wasn't until I had my T&A that I got any better. It's truly a wonder in a jar! PLEASE KEEP HER IN YOUR GOOD THOUGHTS I sure don't need her in the hospital!

I stopped and got my FRIDAY MOVIE PICKS:

THE CLOSER

FINDING NEVERLAND

BRIDGETT JONES

I'll let y'all know how they are...

Thanks for all the kind words from each of you...I really appreciate it..It's good to know that your friends are there for you!

I heard from MISSY and I want to pass along her note (at her request)

Hey girl!

Sorry that I've been MIA yet again! We just haven't been following plan and I don't feel like I should go to the board when I haven't been faithful. We are starting back on Monday come **** or high water. We got a 4 year old foster child last night. A little boy named Levi - yes like the jeans. He is really sweet but I don't think that he will be with us for very long. His grandparents are going to attend a hearing for him on Monday and they may get custody which would be great for him. He was supposed to go tomorrow but it has been moved to Monday as of this afternoon. I'll keep you posted. Tell everyone on the board that I miss them and fill them in on my scoop. I hope to be back on the board next week.....

love ya
Missy

I'm off to rest...I'll check in later

Hello from Detoxland! I went and did my weekly volunteer thing at the church office. It took longer than usual, and I was pretty tired of it when we were done. I am feeling pretty good though! I woke up with a headache at about 4 this morning, but it subsided before I got up at 7, and has not returned. Energywise I am doing well. I took a nap, and slept very soundly for an hour.

Not sure what is going to be going on tonight. We often go out on weekends for dinner, but that is not an option tonight! I would love to go to the mall and do some shopping. I have a gift card I have not used yet. It depends on how Tom feels when he gets home. He is going to a deck building party tomorrow, so I might go then if he doesn't want to go tonight.

BOB: Thanks for passing on Missy's message. I will be praying for Kate. That crud going around can linger. I hope she gets over it quickly. I love Vicks Vapor Rub too. I used to use it a lot as a kid. Especially for a stuffy nose, though I know now you are not supposed to put it in your nose! :s:
My kids loved Finding Neverland, let me know what you think.

SARAH: Its amazing how the desire for sweets just disappears once you quit eating them! I once decorated and served a wedding cake for 550 and did not take ONE lick! It just did not interest me in the least! Other times, when I was not off sugar, I could have eaten a whole bowl of icing and not gotten sick! I am a sugar addict, and should avoid it always!

COUNTRY: Headaches are much better! Thanks for asking! I love nappa, and it is good raw. I made a cole slaw with it and a fennel bulb and served it with fish, and it was really good that way. If you cook it, cook it lightly, as in a stir fry. It is what is used in egg rolls. I use it in egg drop soup too. I have steamed it and served it with a ginger sauce on the top.

SEBRAY: Do you have to graduate on time? Would it be better not to kill yourself and take an extra semester? (ducking...don't hit me!) Way to go on the exercise and weight loss! Take it..who cares if it was a morning or afternoon weigh in? :)

JACK: You know, I think I asked you that question about weight lifting before and just forgot. You method sounds good...and easy to keep at ! I may try that. Do you do more than one exercise for each group? Bill Phillips and Joyce Vedral both recommend three, so maybe I will try that. I need to do some weight training...and I have not been to Curves in ages!

KENG: When you come up to the BFM, let me know then! Have you thought about checking out the Super H mart over by Gwinnett Place? You ought to check out the DeKalb Farmers Market too. If you got off 285 at Ponce de Leon, and went inside the perimeter, its down about two miles on the right. It has the best selection and prices on produce I have seen anywhere. You would love it!

Time for me to go try and get something done. I actually cleaned up the kitchen when I got home! I need to go make more of my lemonade, and see if there is something I can fix easily for my boys for dinner. :) I will check in later!

just a quick pop in....ive been fooling with my Diet Power...dusting off the cobwebs lol...and i managed to put the gazelle into its exercise database

Monet: i have to graduate on time simply because the classes i need for my major are only offered in the fall/spring...the ones i take in the fall are prerequisites for the ones in the spring so if i miss any of the fall classes i have to wait another year to take ANY of my core classes  and i dont have enough classes left over to fill in for that year while i wait :(

well i have to run agian lol ive been putting off my school work all day .... all for the excuse to use my new gazelle....i think ive used it for about an hour today lol

SARAH: I am on day 3. I started Wednesday. If you decide to do it, read up on it, and follow the directions carefully. :) The most important thing to follow is coming off the fast. You need to do it slowly. My neighbor loaned me her book by Peter Glickman called the Lemonade Diet. Its based on Stanley Burroughs Master Cleanse. She had it as well, but said it had glaring inaccuracies in it, and did not recommend it. (I would not recommend spending money on Glickman's book either..its a lot of fluff and not much information!) The cleanse itself is good, and does work. You can read more on www.therawfoodsite.com (http://www.therawfoodsite.com/). There is a forum on there, but take what some of them say with a grain of salt! :) Also, don't do this diet for weight loss. Its for detoxing the system, and the weight loss is a side effect. I have a lot to lose which is why I have dropped so much. Others don't lose nearly as much. Let me know if you have any questions I can answer.

Evening everyone! Whew glad this day/week is over. Now I can relax. Spent tonight helping dh put in a new dishwasher and tomorrow and Sunday we are hopefully getting our kitchen floor finished! Tomorrow morning I go to get my hair cut and hopefully a new style and then color done next week. Hope it works the way I have pictured !

Sebray- I have that problem too with my feet. Did you get a exercise video with yours? The one I got the lady doing it shows how to "rock" on your feet. It helps a little. I just have to keep adjusting them. I notice my feet want to move forward quite a bit.

Drumflower- wtg on the 15lb loss. Your doing great !

Monet- 9 pounds ! Wow. I bet that is exciting specially in just a few days time ! And Im jumping for joy that it is Friday !!

Sarah- I usually open two windows and read the posts on one and type my replies in the other. Makes it lots easier.
LOL I just read Kengjw post and she already suggested the 2 windows.. it works !

Fridays menu
b- blueberrie smoothie, 4bacon
s- 1 cup cantaloupe
l- leftover pork -2 oz
s- 1/2 cup cottage cheese
d- romaine salad with ranch, 6 oz steak, steamed brocilli, 1 slice ww bread and butter
s- 1 oz almonds

Sarah: ok i emailed it to you...let me know if you have any problems :)

Cindy: no i got the first gazelle (the cheap one  ) so i didnt get a video with it...ive looked all over for his videos but so far ive only found them online :( my feet like to slide too hehe...i managed 30 mins today with no tingling so maybe its just the way i put my feet....also i think it might have something to do with when i use it...yesterday i did it at night after id been on my feet all day and today i did it almost first thing in the morning....ill keep trying it out and see if time of day has anything to do with it.

well i went to the store and bought a powered juicer to prepare myself for the cleanse...(if i decide to do it...if not, the thing makes awesome lemonade hehe) but i didnt make it to the health food store before they closed ... so ill have to wait till next week to start it

im gonna hop on my gazelle and glide for awhile....i drank too much tea today and need to work off some calories so Diet Power doesnt start screaming at me lol

We watched Spanglish tonight. Cute...but did not end as I expected. Good for them! I hate when its really predictable. :)

SARAH: Once you get that email from Sebray, you need to edit your post and take your email out so spambots don't get it. It is always safer to send a private message with your email in it.

SEBRAY: Don't forget to get grade B maple syrup! I have been using half maple syrup and half agave, and it seems to be working fine. What kind of juicer did you get? I got a Black and Decker 1500 on Amazon for only $25! It works great! Don't juice the peel, it makes the lemonade too acidic!

Hey there everyone:) I did go back to water aerobics last night, renewed my membership at the communty center and, as usual, felt great once I was in the pool. But I had a nice surprise walking in. Losing just this twelve lbs has made a big difference for me, I didn't get out of breath, didn't have to stop for a second, didn't feel my back start hurting. All of which had been happening before. I definately go on Tues and Thurs night, and if I can get up, Sat mornings:)

Monet: hmmm the one i got was from wal-mart (calm down it was me that went, not you :P ) its a Presto machine....and i love it...made some lemonade this evening when i got home to try it.....mmmMMMmmm...it was so yummy :D .... grade b syrup....can i get that at the grocery store? and what kind of laxative tea do you recommend?? and do you think i can get that at the grocery store or GNC?? my health food store has the weirdest hours and with my school hours i wont be able to get out there until next thursday :(

Arcayne: wonderful news about not hurting!!! isnt that what keeps us from exercising though....that is when we do have the motivation for for it hehe

well its 4am and i have been completely unproductive all day....so im going to finish watching the witches of eastwick and then head to bed...night all :)

MONET: Dang it, now I want a juicer so I can make fresh lemonade too! it's one of my favourite drinks! And a blender for smoothies. I'll have to make a visit to Big Lots this week and see what can be found.

SEBRAY: I'm up near Gatlinburg, about an hour outside of Knoxville, TN. You know, near Dollywood and an entrance to the Great Smokies. And realizing that I was walking down a corridor, or into the community center, and out to my car without pain or real shortness of breath made me feel stronger and happier. I want to be a strong bodied person, who can run down a beach or climb all over Dollywood when my munchkins visit. ****, I want to be able to walk stairs and hills without feeling eighty years old.

Good Morning from Detoxland! Day 4 has started off pleasantly. Well, except for the quart of salt water I had to choke down. Not pleasant stuff at all! The scale however, was encouraging. Eleven pounds since Wednesday morning! I feel pretty good today too. I slept better than I have in weeks. Is it a coincidence, or could it be the detox diet? I believe it is not a coincidence. I think the detox is having good benefits.

The sun is shining, and the sky is blue this morning. It is VERY windy though. The weather forecast says sunny today and tomorrow then back to clouds and increased chance of rain.

SEBRAY: You want to use Grade B organic maple syrup. The B grade is not as processed as GradeA, and organic does not use formadehyde in the processing. Since you are trying to detox, you don't want to put more chemicals in! Check at your grocery store, and see what they have. In a pinch, Grade B not organic will be better than nothing. Do you have any agave? I am using half agave and half maple syrup and it seems to be working fine. I got my maple syrup at Harry's Whole Foods. If you can't find it, or don't want to use the non-organic, let me know. I could be persuaded to send you some from here. ;) You will need two bottles to do ten days. The one I got was 32 oz and $15.

ARCAYNE: I am loving my juicer! I intend to use it for fresh veggie juices too. I have tried carrots, and I have celery to try as soon as I am ready to break this fast/detoxing. Apples are great in it too! I downloaded as many juicing recipes as I could find, and I think it is going to be a very healthy addition to my diet. You can pack a whallop of nutrition in a glass with juicing. I considered a juicing fast to detox, but the lemonade one was simpler to figure out. This one is going so well, I am sure I will repeat the experience soon! Way to go on the water aerobics! :cheer: I am so glad you are seeing benefits already to the weight loss! Just think how great you will feel in another 12!

Monet: I think i have time to check out my healthfood store on monday...i have about an hour or so between classes and the store is by the school so i should have time....what laxative tea are u using?

Arcayne: I know what you mean about wanting to be able to do things without feeling so old...I want to be able to clean my house without having to stop and rest .... to be able to play outside with my boys more then 5 mins....

well ive put off my studying for too long and now one of my exams is tomorrow so i REALLY have to go now......wish me luck

I just pruned a few roses. Tom will be so happy when he comes home and sees what I did. He told me if I did it, it would be like giving him the gift of an extra day! Silly man. The weather looks nice, but is dreadfully windy. It is not too pleasant to be out in the wind.

SEBRAY: They recommend Smooth Move or Get Regular. I found the Get Regular and got it! :) Its ok...you can use straight senna tea, but on the forum I read, some people were complaining of stomach cramps from it, as it is strong. If you can find organic lemons, get them. You will need a lot. I have some really big ones and it takes three a day to make 8 drinks. The small ones take about one per serving. You can use limes too. I mixed them, and it tasted really good! Also, plan carefully for when you go OFF the diet. You have to ease back into eating solid food, or you can make yourself sick.

TECH:   :cb:   Another pound! Hooray! Do you think vitamin C is helping?

AFTERNOON EVERY BUDDY!!

It's a beautiful day here on the WEST COAST OF FLA!!! No humidity, temp is in the 70's and a brisk breeze is blowing in off the GULF!! Who could ask for more?????

Afternoon! I went to Costco and Petsmart. Got olive oil and dates, and other picky stuff. I spent half what I usually do though, which was great! I should have skipped the dates, but they are included in a lot of the recipes I want to be using after this detox. So, I will be prepared! And the first recipe I intend to make is the Charoset that is served at the Seder. Its chopped apples, walnuts, dates, cinnamon and a bit of wine. Delicious stuff!

BOB: How is Kate doing? I am glad you seem to be doing better! This morning the scale said eleven pounds. I know what you mean about not being able to do something like this. I did not think I could either, but if you tell me I can't, I am determined to show you I can! :s: I am not sure if I will go ten days, but this is day four and so far, so good. The longest I ever fasted before was three days. I don't know if I will lose more or not. I can tell by being cold that my metabolism is slowing down a bit. I would go for a walk, but the wind is so strong, it might even blow a hefty woman like me away! I tried working outside, pruning, but I only got four roses done before I had enough wind!

THE BIG ORANGE BABE

Wind is heavy down this way too. Really blowing in off the Gulf.
Kate is doing better (thank GAWD)... I'm still hacking and will need another bottle of cough medicine called in for next week, but I really feel a lot better.
I commend you again for doing this...wonder though...when you start eating again, won't the water weight come back really fast?
I'm off to climb up in the four poster and watch movies...

BOB

Ellen
04-02-2005, 09:33 PM
BOB: Depends on how long I go. I am sure a good bit is water, but interestingly, my ankles are still a bit swollen, so I am NOT dehydrated! If I keep it up for 40 days, there will probably be some fat loss instead of just water. I feel sure there is more now than just water. The point though is NOT weight loss, though it has been a pleasant side effect. The main point is to detoxify the system and clean out the digestive system. Supposedly, mucoid plaque forms in the intestines and colon that can cause problems and disease. This regiment is supposed to clean that out and improve the digestion and over all health. By not eating, you body takes the energy normally spent in digestion and turns it to healing and rebuilding. I have felt health benefits. My joints are much better, and I do feel more alert and focused. The best benefits supposedly come after six or seven days, so I want to stick it out and see if its true! :)

Well, my friend came and left. I was a bit disappointed that she only alloted a couple hours to see me. She is down for four days, and originally was going to come over and spend the day, and go to church with us tonight. She called me last night and said she would be over at one. They got here at 1:30 and left before 4. :(

Its day 5 here in Detox land, and I am feeling pretty good. I have not really been hungry much at all. Once you have NO choices, it really is easy! :) (hmm, should I have this extra serving of ww pasta? No problem! The answer is NO! ) I need to go buy some lemons so I can continue tomorrow. So far, I have noticed two very big improvements. One, I slept like the dead last night. I have not had such a good nights sleep in ages! I crawled in bed at 12 and did not wake up again until 6:30. It felt great! The second is I notice a marked improvement in my joints. I was having some significant pain especially when going up and down stairs, but its much improved, and I caught myself running up the stairs earlier today. Yeah!

I guess I will go read or nap before church.

Good Sunday evening to all.
The weekends sure fly by. It was sunny and 60's today but very windy which made it feel much colder out. We got the kitchen floor done and just have to replace moulding and kicker board, but that can wait until next weekend.
At least my kitchen is back to normal.
My eating really did not go well on Saturday. We went out with someothers and had Chinese buffet ( A place I really dont like and so dreaded going to)
but I did my best. They were in the process of switching over from lunch to dinner and I was kinda mad because there are "better" choices on the dinner buffet which werent out when I was up getting food.

Good evening everyone! We got in from church a little while ago. I fixed a frozen ww pizza for the 'boys' and drank my lemonade. Right now, I am drinking my tea and getting ready for bed. Tonight at church something happened that was really weird. We had communion, and the wine and the bread are set out before church. We were sitting about half way back, which is about 15 feet from the front, and I could smell the bread! I was amazed! I am sure its the fasting that does it, but it was amazing to me.

They had a string quartet tonight for the music. It was lovely. I love stringed intruments. I wish I had learned to play one. My girls played cello and violin but both have quit now. It was fun when they would play pieces together for me.

Its been a quiet weekend here on the board. I hope everyone is doing ok. I am missing some folks. Like Teensy, Pancho, and Gator. I was hoping SEF would come back, and Fruit...

Guess I will chat with you all in the morning! Sweet dreams everyone!
