Hello and welcome all!

This is a brand new group I decided to name CURVY VIXENS. Why? Because we aim to have our curves in the right places--and according the dictionary a Vixen is a female fox! Remember the 80's? A fox is a good thing! ;)

Are you ready to kick start this healthy lifestyle in full gear! Who is ready to join me? Jump on in! Looking for those really wanting to be a part of an active support group to lean on and share ideas, experiences, you name it! :dancer:

Please introduce yourself. Are you following a plan? What is working for you? What is your goal? Whatever you want to share, feel free!

A little about me: Live in Ohio. I am a working busy mom of two pre-teen girls (ages 10 and 11) and I go to school full time online. So needless to say, I am always busy. My plan: To eat healthy foods/snacks every day with one special meal on the weekend to eat what I want. I try to eat every 2-3 hours to keep myself from feeling too hungry--and so far so good. I am slowly trying to incorporate exercise--and so far have been swimming and doing water aerobics twice a week. That's me in a nutshell.

I look forward to getting to know you all as we progress in this journey in life and aim to be healthy and fit!

Thanks for doing this Karen! I used to be on Weight Watchers and the CORE board is great! But since I'm doing my own thing, I've been looking for a place to fit.

About me: I'm 30, single, no kids, active professional and social life. I need to lose about 40lbs. of body fat and about 10-15% body fat %.

The plan:I have six meals a day, every 2-3 hours, a gallon of water and vitamins (I must take my vitamins and I always forget). MWSa - I have spinning, TThF - I walk for 30 minutes or 20 minutes of HIIT on the treadmill. And I'm trying to fit in weight training, may have to substitute TTh cardio for weights or do both, time is an issue. And one gloriously planned unclean, cheat meal a week!

This is the plan and in the last couple of weeks, either I have done the workouts and ate "normally" or ate clean and no workouts. Need to merge both to get results. Right now I'm maintaing my Weight Watchers loss.

I had not been working out during Weight Watchers and realized that for my body type and for the results that I wanted I had to go back to the gym. Working out had served me very well in the past, but doing cardio and strenth training while on CORE was extremely hard, I wasn't getting enough in and was unbelievably hungry all of the time.

So, I reverted back to nutrition advise from past trainers and from books and am pretty happy. This is a crazy time for me right now, b/c not only do I have a full-time job and family and friends to give attention to, I am also studying for the Bar Exam (in July). I am a stress eater, so this would be the perfect time for me to throw my body by the wayside and igonore the gym and what I put in my mouth, thus gaining even mor ethan I did in law school. As an incentive I am planning a trip in August to Miami to visit a friend and plan to "rest" on the beach and look great!

That's that!

oh and I'm in Texas; hence the name.

Hi ladies, :p

Glad to see you've all joined in! :D

Vanessa--Wow! You are an inspiration already! You sound very active. How active were you when you started really trying to lose weight? What kind of eating plan have you followed to lose most of your weight?

txlawchic--So you were following WW core program? I was going to WW meetings and lost 30 pounds following the flex points. I like that plan--and still use what I learned from that--but I don't track all my points. I just know more or less what I can eat. And when I am not sure I refer to the points. Like you, I have a trip planned in the fall (September actually). Going to Vegas to celebrate graduating from school--and hopefully being several pounds down! Yeah! I know what you mean about being a stress eater--thats me too (especially at night). What do you do to help that stress eating? I have been trying to do things like chew gum and drink lots of water, or sometimes I grab a diet drink of some kind just to get the sense of fullness that water doesn't always give me.

Deanne--How is it going? Do you like WW so far? Does it seem to offer a lot of guidance in the online version?

My day has gone pretty good--although tonight I am feeling rather sleepy at the moment. I went to the Y (which wasn't planned) and walked on the treadmill and did the rowing machine. So little by little I am adding more to my routine. I hope you all had a great day. Keep on posting!

03-18-2005, 03:13 AM
Hey girls! Today is my second day on WW. I havent eaten breakfast yet. I'll probably drink a slim fast and eat a piece of fruit. I added my slimfast into the ww plan. They're so easy to drink on the go.

I so need to be more active. Vanessa, how did you start out or have you always been very active? I want to sort of ease myself into it.

Ok chicks, Im going to eat some breakfast. Let me know how your days are going. Well, its late at night your times.

Hi Am new here. Need some accountability!

its late night where I am and I have planned my exercise and eating plan out based on information I have gleaned from here and on the web. I did the body for life program last year and lost 10 kilos, 9% bodyfat and 35 inches. However, since then i have stacked a few kilos back on. I have a looooooot of weight to lose as you can see from my tracker.

SO.. my program is as follows (based loosely on BFL).. exercise 6 - 7 days per week, alternating lowers / uppers / lowers etc and aiming for 1 hour of cardio per day. I have been building up to this the last few weeks so I know this is achievable.

Eating is my big problem.. and am basing it loosely around protein, getting carbs from my veges instead of bread etc, lots of water - natural, unprocessed food, small portions. I have the weight watchers books so will use that as a guide - keep within points range etc.

I think the key for me is to get addicted to the kick of exercising again - that rush. Once I get that half the battle is over. I have been really encouraged by reading all the stories on here because sometimes it feels like Im all alone in this neverending struggle. Im so sick of this space I am in - gonna change and its starts straight away.

Anyway.. nice to meet everyone!

03-18-2005, 09:42 AM
Hi Ladies..hope you are all having a good morning..i'm feeling a lot better today than i was yesterday..heres the story..i'm a closet eater..i do great in front of people but sometimes when i'm alone i go crazy..the day before yesterday i ate a half a loaf of bread and 4 cereal bars before dinner..then had dinner yesterday i was feeling so bad..but i worked out anyway..and followed my eating plan and today i'm back at 136...i have decided to write out my meals and post them on the fridge so i can see what i'm eating..
Lets see a couple of you asked how i started out..when i was at 220..i started out slow..i would walk about a mile a day..i also did ..ok don't laugh..Richard Simmons tapes..then i got a step bench..which i still do..then when i got down to 160 i started running..i have even placed first in my age group two times..running is now what keeps my weight down..and now since i started weight lifting i'm firming up..if i could just give up the i could really lose some weight..
Well i'm off to is 4 good

Hey girls...its been an ok day for me. Did some weight training and stuck to my WW points.
How have y'all been??

03-18-2005, 01:44 PM
Hello everybody my name is Jessica i'm 27 years old I have 2 children 1 girl 1 boy 6 and 4 i live in Miramar, Fl I started my diet 2 days ago hopefully I'll stick to it this time talk to you all later i'm at work take care everybody and good luck to all of us...

03-18-2005, 01:56 PM
Happy Friday!

So far so good. My days typically go fine--I usually feel the most vulnerable at night for some reason. But I think I have been doing pretty good--for the most part. I know I am doing much better then before I started really committing to this. It's funny--because before I would mindlessly eat and drink junk (lots of soda, like Mountain Dew, and chips, cookies, etc). But I never kept track of the junk--I just overloaded and fed my feelings of stress. Ironic thing is that doing that always makes me feel so much worse. Does that make any sense? Now the funny thing is--for the most part I am good--but when I have moments, when I think about wanting something I shouldn't, I feel like one little bite could be the kiss of death--when I was doing a lot more than having a couple bites in the past. I guess because I know if I eat certain things I feel like I may not be able to control myself. But every day I feel a little more in control--because really I am! It's not as if someone force feeds you twinkies! That's a choice! Right?! So if you are craving a twinkie--make a plan for the twinkie (or whatever it is you heart desires). Can anyone relate? :^:

Hey Deanne--I am here! You are just so far ahead of us, you probably wonder where we are when we are still waking up! What kind of weight training are you doing? Are you using dumbells? I need to incorporate some weight training. My water aerobics class does some resistance training that I think helps the muscles. But I probably need to do something more.

Vanessa--Was it hard to start running? You are a super woman! I am inspired reading about your progression. I hope to progress to a place you are at now! Hats off to you! Right now I walk about a mile on the treadmill. I hope to slowly increase my level and how far I am going. I think the hardest part for me is my mind gets bored. I have found that swimming doesn't do that as much--I feel peaceful when I swim. But I want to switch my routine and do the treadmill on my alternate days. I also have two dogs--so as the weather warms up I will be walking them. Actually they will be walking me, that's what usually happens! I know what you mean about bread--I love that stuff. But I have been trying to eat wheat and whole grain options that have more fiber. That white bread is pure sugar in the bloodstream--I am sure you know all that!

Hi brownsuga--So how did you like that body for life? I have looked at some of the books for that program and was really impressed. Everyone in the books looks extremely fit. Do you find the program easy to follow? Where are you located? I see you referred to kilos--so I wondered about that.

I hope everyone is having a great day! Keep posting!

03-18-2005, 02:01 PM
Hey Jessica!

You posted when I was posting I think! Glad to see you made it over from the buddy board!

What diet are you following? How is that going? Do you find it hard to diet having little ones? I remember it was tough when my kids were little--well its still tough. But little ones need constant attention and it can be overwhelming. Hang in there. Another thing to keep in you mind, is that if you eat healthy you will teach your children healthy habits. My kids know all about what they should and shouldn't eat--because I talk to them about my diet and specifically serving sizes for them. In the long run, I don't want them to go through what I am going through. Know what I mean? Hang in there! You can do it!

03-18-2005, 02:04 PM
I can so relate to the late night eating..i don't know what it is about night and TV..but it makes me want to
It wasn't hard for me to start running..what was hard for me was running outside..i'm a very shy person so i thought everyone was looking at me thinking..geez whats that fat girl doing out here..but after the first couple of times i saw nobody was paying me any mind..they were all doing there own thing..i get bored sometimes too..i have to have music when i run outside and either music or the TV when i'm seems to make the time go by faster..
Hope you all have a great weekend....

03-18-2005, 02:29 PM
Thank you Karen I'm just trying to stay away from the whites and i'm eating more fruit and veggies and i started go to the gym that we have in our complex with my little ones it ok at least with my daughter my son and husband are rice eater like everyday me and my daughter are'nt it's kind of hard though being hispanic. I'll keep you updated.

03-18-2005, 02:38 PM
Just wanted to let you all know i won't be online until you all have a great weekend..i'll be thinking of you...

03-18-2005, 03:35 PM
Hey Vanessa--I know what you mean about being self-conscious. I really felt that way when I first got on my swimsuit and decided to go swimming. It is a lot to overcome, when you have avoided that for so long. But once I got over it--and realized that I am not going to get fit without moving--I just have to move on and not worry about what others think. I hope you have a great weekend. See you on Monday!

Hey Curvychick (Jessica): I know what you mean about the pasta (rice or otherwise). My husband is full blooded Italian--I mean born and raised in Italy. So he does like his pasta! He actually uses rice with a lot of things too. I make a salad when he is eating rice. And if I really want some rice, I just have a small serving.

People in my office just had a cheesecake for someones going away. I have to admit I had half a slice. But I didn't eat the crust--so that saves some calories. Oh, and I went for a 15 minute walk--so thats going to counter some of those calories. I think I did okay--considering the temptation. I made the choice--but I think I did okay.

Moving on! It is so beautiful--and I sure wish I was outside and not in my cube. At least I have a window! I am feeling a bit of Spring fever!

03-18-2005, 03:41 PM
Hey girls! How is everyone??

Txlawchick- Where are ya, girl?

Brownsuga- I am a frequent guest on the BFL website. I love the weight training demos that they have on there!

Vanessa- So far, I love WW. I dont feel hungry at all. Its easier than counting calories. I actually feel like Im achieving my daily goals without worry. Its only been two days but as of right now, this is something that I can stick with. BTW, the late night eating thing sucks. I have had bad trouble with this in the past. Tonight, I'm eating and watchin Friends. Heres the catch though: I'm eating chopped apples and bananas with a tsp of honey on them. Not bad :)

Karen- As I told Brownsuga, I get my exercises from There are demos on there for different exercises. I do use dumbells. I have 4, 5, 6, 10, 15, 25 lb weights. I also use my housemates weight bench. Oh, I have 2 of those exercise balls(the inflatable ones) that I do different exercises on. I plan to go to the Souq(market) to get a medicine ball as well.

As for my day/night, its been eventful. I walk to the grocery store to get that extra activity in. On the way back, I saw a kitten. There are alot of stray cats around here that I would love to rescue but they run too fast. This one came right up to me. So, I gave it some salami. Then, this Indian guy brought it to the guards at my compound and they gave it to me. I couldnt turn it down. Its same kind as my cat but short haired. Im going to take it to a shelter tomorrow. Maybe NIc will let me keep it :) Bring on the waterworks...

Let me know how y'all are doing. I'm gonna go give the cat some water and then get back online.

03-18-2005, 05:55 PM
Hi again everyone!

Hey Deanne--I will have to check out the bfl website. That sounds like good info. Glad to hear the WW is going well. It does seem easier to count points. For one thing, I think you actually end up eating more--but it all works out because it accounts for fat and fiber as well. That is why I still lean on WW for balance. I have a point calculator I use at home--do you have something online that figures out points for you, like and electronic point calculator? I know what you mean about being a sucker for a kitten. I have a little zoo at home with 2 dogs, 3 cats and 2 hamsters. All are tame and loveable. I also have a cat that isn't mine, but thinks he lives on my porch. I don't have a clue where his real home is, but my porch has become his second home.

How is everyone else? Any plans for the weekend? My kids are already begging me to go to the mall. It's that age--teenagers love the mall! But I usually take them because I figure it is good exercise to walk around. :dancer:

03-18-2005, 06:50 PM
Hey ladies- I wanna join this group sounds like fun. Im 24 from Colorado about ready to graduate from college and find a "real" job. I also work full time as well.
Im currently doing WW online and the flex program. Im working out by hitting the gym and doing core secrets. So far Ive lost 3 pds.
Although this weeks been rough, havent had time to workout but my eating habits improved this week. So thats good. Well gotta run, talk to you guys later. :cb:

03-18-2005, 06:52 PM
Hi Girly2004!

Welcome to the group! What is core secrets? Congrats on the 3 pound loss! Woohoo! You are on your way!

03-18-2005, 06:56 PM
Hey ladies, it's been a crazy Friday here! I've been reading trial testimony all day and my eyes are crossed! :dizzy:

Karen - Stress eating : I find that 1) keeping "bad" food, i.e. any bread besides Whole Wheat and sweet, etc. out of my house and I give myself a major talking to before grabbing the keys to get this stuff 2) I head to my apt.'s gym and hit the treadmill or bike and watch TV or read a magazine, if I still have the urge to eat, I do but I find my choices are better, b/c I don't want to sabotage my great workout or 3) I've been trying to grasp meditation, I've heard good things about it and visualization exercises (the trick is getting me to sit in one place for longer than a minute!) 4) I also have been known to pop in a CD and dance around the house like a crazy woman, it works! :D Hope that's helpful! Let me know if you come up with any other tips!

Congrats to everyone who is on target with their plans and best wishes to the rest of us! I have been so crazed this week that it has not been a good one food or exercise wise. Plus it's TOM! Yay!!! :( Will pick back up Sunday!

I hope you all have a great and safe weekend!

03-18-2005, 09:30 PM
Hey y'all...Its 4am here and Nic just left for work. I'll be glad when hes on a different shift next month. I woke up to check on the kitty and now I cant sleep. Nic is getting attached to him too. YAY!! I put a blanket in there for him and he acted like he was in heaven.
Anyway, Karen, I do have an online calculator. I'd like to get a Palm Pilot so that I can add that system to it. It has all the foods and their points. This way, if Im at a restaurant, I have no exscuses for eating bad.
Girly, welcome to the forum! I'm glad someone else is doing WW online with me! Let me know how its working for you...
Txlawchick, have a great weekend!! Mine is over. Our weekend over here is Thursday and Friday. :)

03-19-2005, 12:14 AM
Hey everyone,
My name is Mel, I'm 23 and a college senior, I also can't wait until I graduate, but I am a little nervous. I am not doing any particular diet plan because I am horrible at diet plans...they always want you to eat cottage cheese and bananas...I really don't like either one. Basically, I am watching fat grams and so far, counting fat has helped me lose 11 pounds, coupled with plenty of exercise of course. I try to work out at least 4 times per week, mixing it up a little bit, sometimes I work out more than 4 times and sometimes I work out less. After awhile, I will switch to watching calories and fat and I'll probably lose more weight, but for right now, this is working.
I saw this group and thought it looked interesting. I post frequently on Doin' it the Old Fashioned Way and they are very helpful and a great group of women, but you all seem to be closer to my age group.
Anyway, I hope to get to meet you all, have a good night.

03-19-2005, 09:13 AM
Hi all
My name is Lynn, I'm 41, married with two teen daughters. I have been calorie counting.
~ Deanne we have the same birthday! 9/12..

03-19-2005, 10:13 AM
Welcome to all the new ladies !!!!!!

03-19-2005, 11:37 AM
Hi everyone. I would like to join your group. I'm Elyn, a registered nurse from Fl., but since I got married and moved to Denmark I have been a "bored homemaker". Altho' I could get back into the work force if I want to, the language barrier have kept me "home". I do speak the language, but not confident enough to write it, lucky for me I really do not need to work, my husband is a CEO of a French Asphalt Company. We have been married for 17yrs., no children, we have an adorable "yorkie", named Skimpy and she'll be 7yrs. old on the 27th. I'm probably the oldest in this group, I'll turn 50 in December 4, and I want to lose 45 pounds in time for my big day. I do not want to be fifty and fat. In Fl., I did the nutrisystem, and I was on a "healthy weight" for many years. When I got into my 40's I started to gain weight again, I was on and off diets and exercise, mainly watching caloric intake. The 45 pounds I want to lose now is the weight which I have gained in the last 5years of yo-yoing, and somehow I just can't seem to get myself to keep motivated and persevere until I reach my goal weight. I have a stationary bike, a threadmill, few sets of dumbbells, countless video exercise tapes, and a hypnosis motivational tape which are all collecting dust. I get frustrated that i can't seem to lose weight as fast as when I was younger. I tried to go on the South Beach in January, but somehow it is very difficult for me not to eat fruits and carbs., besides I cannot seem to reconcile myself to eating so many eggs - I just feel it is unhealthy (don't mean to offend anyone who is on Atkins or SBD). So I decided to go back to calorie counting, I have a desktop software where I can log in my daily caloric intake, exercises, and journals. I started on the 7th, and have lose 2 pounds, but tomorrow we are going on a 9 days vacation to Germany and Poland, so I guess I can say goodbye to these 2 pounds! It is really tough! I am an emotional eater too.
I'm really glad to have found this homesite, I have been reading a lot for the past 2 weeks, and when I saw this new group, I thought I will jump in as I believe it is easier to fit in a new group. Good luck to everyone.

03-19-2005, 12:17 PM
Hi everyone! I would love to join in! My name is Tina and I am 32 yrs old will be 33 in August. I am happily married and have 2 boys ages 7 and 4 that I homeschool. I am from West Virginia.....

Right now I am watching my calories and fat. I am disabled do to a accident I had in 1993. I have major back problems and bone spurs on my back as well. With that said exercise is hard, but I am trying. I did some easy aerobic type exercise on Monday for 20 min, on Tuesday I walked with my boys 8/10 of a mile, Wednesday I cleaned my living room and bedroom carpets (shampooed them) Thurs and Fri I rested. I started my life change on 3/11/05 and did my first weigh in on 3/18/05... I lost 1 pound. I was truely hoping for more cause I have honestly been trying, but 1 is better than 0. I am hoping for more next week.

Anyway have a great weekend!

03-19-2005, 01:18 PM
Hi elyn and tina..
I love the pic of your dog elyn.. whatta doll!!
I just ate the best blueberries of my life! they were so sweet along with oatmeal.
Plus I waked this am on the treadmill for 45 mins...

03-19-2005, 01:37 PM
Hi Lynn,
Thanx, my dog weighs 4.5 pounds, a real doll and I can take her everywhere I go. We live by the beach, and we have just been out walking, but such a small dog can't go for very long walks, so the 15 mins. walk don't even count as an exercise! I'm quite excited about our vacation, so I guess I'll concentrate on my diet when i come home.

03-19-2005, 02:30 PM
Hi all! :coffee:

I love all the activity on our new board (home)! It is great to see all of you joining in! :cb:

txlawchic--You have some great ideas for dealing with stress eating. I have been known to "bust a move" in my living room--dance around with some tunes. Who says you have to go out to dance? I make up my own moves--and look awful silly I am sure. But who cares, the more I move the healthier I will be. So crank up the volume and shake those hips!

Mel--I know what you mean about many diets being restrictive. That's why I don't think of this as a diet, but healthy eating for life. I have been experimenting with good tasting foods that are healthy, so I don't feel deprived--so it doesn't start to feel like a diet. Then I save one special meal to indulge in something I crave. It seems to be working. Oh ya, and guzzle lots of water. What are you studying in school? I am finishing up my eBusiness degree. Only 5 classes to go! Hooray!

Curvychick--Glad to see you posting! How is everything going with your eating plan?

Elyn--How long have you lived in Denmark? That sounds exciting. I lived in Italy for 2 years--and I loved Europe. I know what you mean about the writing barrier. It takes a long time to perfect what you know. And sometimes years and years before you really feel comfortable. My husband deals with that living in the US, being from Italy. But he has come a long way! I tried some low-carb plans as well, and just couldn't handle it. I realize that what works for me is simply choosing healthy choices and still eating a little bit of the indulgences I like. The key is finding the plan that will work for life. This can't be a short term plan that gets the weight off, we have to think in terms of life long fitness. At least, that is what I have realized. So slow and steady is the key, and concetrating more on how I feel. I sure feel better after a day of eating healthy, compared to that God awful feeling of stuffing myself on junk. That in itself is an accomplishment. So far so good!

Tina--It sounds like that despite your disability you are making the most of it. That is great. Chasing those boys must keep you active as well! Have you ever tried water aerobics? That is supposed to be good exercise that isn't hard on your bones. I just started a class 2 weeks ago (go twice a week) and really like it. I got past putting on my swimsuit--and just went for it. I am glad I did!

Lynn (purplepansy)--Isn't it great to find healthy foods that you just love! I discovered that I really love fruit smoothies. And I have really started to enjoy grapes and strawberries. Mind you, I was the girl not eating much fruit not too long ago. I have had to force some changes, but after a few days I have found it really refreshing.

I hope everyone is having a great day! It is rainy here--but I am feeling pretty good despite the weather. Keep posting! :D

03-19-2005, 03:57 PM
Good Job Lynn for your treadmill workout!

Karen the only hang up for water aerobics for me is to find time when my dh is off from work cause we have no one to watch them for us. I am going to a new doctor on Wed and he has a whirlpool in his building a long with other things to help with back pain, so maybe I can go on Wed there. :dizzy:

03-19-2005, 04:11 PM
Hey girls!! Having a good day so far? Mine is ok. Except I had some really awful food tonight. Nic and I went to Ponderosa. Usually they have great steaks but this time we're both sick. They started some "double tender" promotion. The steak had a funky texture. UGH. Other than that, things are great.

Welcome to all the new chicks!
Krngallo- How ya doin chicka? Rain gets me down! Thank Goodness it rains here about 3 times a year :)

Purplepansy- Yay...Ive only met one person with the same birthday!

Universityprincess- Congrats on the weightloss!!

Skimpyelyn- I too am a "bored homemaker", just until I can get my visa situated over here. Do you ever get bored enough to want to just eat?? I do!

Tkay- Remember every pound lost gets you closer to your goal!!

Curvychick- How are ya?

Ok, I'll be looking at some other forums and putting my WW points in. I'll check back in a bit.

Hey everyone,
I got a really good workout yesterday, I walked at least 3 miles, did 40 minutes on the Arc trainer and 35 minutes of weight training. Tonight I am going salsa dancing! I love to salsa so I am EXCITED!

Deanne- Thanks for the compliment! You are doing quite well yourself. Go you!

Karen- I try to limit what I eat...I am a chocolate fiend so when I go to my favorite candy store (See's) I get exactly what I want, but I don't buy as much as I could eat, but rather just a few pieces. My mom isn't a chocolate person so she does not understand my craving, she prefers cheetos. Me, if they said that cheetos were to be discontinued, I would not be sad at all...chocolate on the other hand, I might have to wage a protest!
I am studying journalism and Ethnic Studies with a minor in communication studies. I am pretty well close to graudating, I just have one class to go for my comm studies minor. I am about to enter into my last term and will be taking grueling clases such as African Dance and Trampoline (HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA) and of course, the last class for my minor. What are you going to do with your degree? I think i'm going to get a master's degree but I need to figure out finances before I can really do that.

Lynn- Don't totally give up while you are on vacation. I went on a cruise for a week and only gained 1.5 pounds (can't be all good on the trip) but compared to last time we cruised, when I gained 5 pounds, I think I did pretty well and the only difference was that I made sure to walk and walk and walk some more and eat half of my dessert...can't give it all up (HAHA)

University Princess,
Sounds like you are doing great! You have almost met your goal!!! Keep it up!

03-19-2005, 08:53 PM
Ok girls, I am officially freaked out!! There was a bomb here earlier. My Dad called us a few minutes ago to make sure we're ok. We didnt even know about it. Turns out, we were outside waiting for our driver when it happened. We heard all the police and ambulances. Anyway, Im just venting. Nic has to go to work now. At least one our roommates is here though. I'm gonna stay online for a while to keep my mind off of things. I wanna eatttttttttttttttttttttt. Ill check in in a bit.

03-19-2005, 10:41 PM
Karen I would love to join your group also. I am a divorcee with three grown children and have six grandchildren. I started WW for the second time in late January and have so far lost from 189 to 172. Goal is set for 150. The first time I belonged to WW I could not go below 150 so figured I might as well set that for my goal. I kept the weight off for over 2 years than had to take care of my aging parents and was so stressed that I gained it all back. Now I am trying to follow the flex plan but I really think my problem is that I don't eat enough. My job is a very stressful and somedays I realize at the end of the day that I haven't had anything to eat or drink. Then most days I come home from work and pass out without eating in the afternoon. I am really trying to improve on this. My daughter and I both attended WW for several weeks but thought it was stupid to pay the money to weight in so we quite going. Hopefully, you gals can help keep me in line and I can loose rest of my weight.

03-20-2005, 06:24 AM
Hey chickas...things are still the same here. Nic is working 12hr shifts, which means he'll be gone for a total of 14hrs. I can't really go anywhere that I need to go. I think I'm going to go to the grocery store later though. I'll just go to one that doesnt have many Americans or British people. Don't want to draw attention to myself. I also dont want to live my life in fear though. Anyway, hopefully everything will be fine. I don't think I'll have to go home.

Gabiegirl- Are you doing WW online? Thats what Im doing on the Flex plan. This is my fourth day and I like it so far. It's good to know that you had results the last time you were on it. Its very encouraging to hear peoples successes. Welcome to the forum by the way!!

The rest of y'all are most likely asleep already. Its late night in the States. So, Ill talk to y'all later on.

Deanne :p

DEANNE~~ OMG a bomb how scarey, hope you are ok. I've met alot of people with the 9/12 birthday :)
ELYN~~ I can't imagine living in another country. I bet that is so exciting. I'm sure the language barrier is tough. Being a nurse you really have to document well and I know for me... I'd be afraid to work! I have trouble enough with my documentation and speaking in "nursey words"
SKIMPY~~ I have a siberian husky and she is a ball of fur. I had her groomed last week and the groomer said in all her years she never saw so much hair, all I do is vacuum. I am trying to convince hubby to get another doggy, a teeny tiny one. I would love to go out doing errands with a lil doggy....:)
TINA~~ How you be???
KAREN~~urgggh on the rain, it is raining here today as well.

As for me I am staying in today, in my jammies, yup, Lynn is taking an easy Sunday. I decided to be alittle more stricter on my food plan, adding more salads and veggies for now as I'm not really losing. I went out with our couples card game last night and got in at 3am. Although I don't drink, I ate ALOT!!! I feel the exercise and eating well in the AM yesterday was a waste... sigh~ I know, I know exercising is not a waste, So today I jump back on the wagon. I'm just to old to stay out that late.. LOL at 41, 10pm is my bedtime!!
Both my daughters are home from school this week for spring break and each of them has no plans. I'm sure my house will look like a cyclone when they go back. My older daughter is grieving over her two year relationship with her bf that ended two weeks ago, yesterday she informs me that she met a guy "online" but he is a senior at her college, he is 22 and she is 19. I'm nervous that she might meet this guy alone and he is a pyscho. I've told her that she should meet at the campus center. She told me i'm too over protective. This guy could be anyone??? right???? Her relationship just ended, why start a new one so quick... btw, her bf broke up her, so I feel she needs time to grieve and get on with life.. just my opinion.. I'm just the mother..:)
Have a grand Sunday all... Remember Health first...

Hello gals! :comp:

Today is my official weigh-in day, that I use for tracking my weight--and I am feeling really happy to find out I am down 4 more pounds! I am kind of surprised--not because I wasn't on track all week--but because I expect for my weight loss to slow down to 1 or 2 pounds a week. I guess I have a lot of water weight hanging around! Anyway, I am thrilled with that. And most of all I am more thrilled--because I have had a realization that I can live eating the way I have been eating. So why can't I reach my goal? I CAN--keword--CAN, we all CAN! I am certainly not depriving myself by any means. Some key essentials for me: drink tons of water through out the day (I just keep a water bottle at my side at all times), choose only healthy meals (that means even at places like McDs or Wendys--it can be done! Let's be honest!), plan for healthy snacks each day in between meals so that the "hungry monster" doesn't show-up and cause me to go off plan and finally plan a special meal to eat what I want if I feel the need. The thing I have found out--is that healthy meals don't have to be bad tasting. You can find meals that are actually really good and really enjoyable. This week some of my favorites were tomato sauce, chicken and green peppers that I threw in a crock pot before I went to work and served over instant brown rice when I got home. I also made some white chili (recipe on 3FC) that was yummy. I took that to work a couple days too. Today, before I to to the store I am going to hunt for a couple more new recipes to try.

Deanne--I hope your nerves have calmed down after that bomb scare. No stress eating, ya hear! I know how easy that can be to fall victim to feeding your feelings of any kind whether it be worry, sadness, depression. Always log on and post how you are feeling and write about it, rather then eat about it! Know what I mean? And if you still feel inclined--choose a bag of popcorn or something more healthy. I had some popcorn last night when I felt like munching during a movie. We watched "Shall We Dance". It was a good movie--makes me want to take up dancing or something! Ha ha!

Universityprincess: I know what you mean about chocolate! :m: I love it myself! I have to plan for chocolate of some kind each week. I bought low-fat chocolate hostess cupcakes. They are pretty good. And occassionaly maybe have a bite, like a hersheys kiss. But that can be dangerous--because I could mindlessly eat those things! I like to have low-fat chocolate chip granola bars too. Just any way to get a bit of chooolate in my diet! Your degree sounds really interesting. I had wanted to major in journalism, or something similar the first time I was in school. I had thought I wanted to be an anchor on the news--that was my backup to acting/singing. Ha ha. But life went a different direction when I joined the Navy. So now I am getting a degree in an area that is similar to what I am doing with eBusiness. You asked what I plan to do with my degree--the answer--get promoted! ha! I can't tell you how many times I have NOT been able to apply for a job within my organization and some past jobs because I had failed to complete my degree. Certainly some people can still get promoted without it, but in the corporate world it has become a standard prerequisite rule. So Lord knows I am so happy to be close to finished! Yeah! I am thinking of going for my Master too--probaby in Global Management or something like that. I have to say, if it wasn't for online school I would have never been able to do this with a family and all the other stuff in my life. Not too mention I really enjoy it. I have learned a lot, and plan to use it! Nuff said.

Gabiegirl--Sounds like you have some experience and know what you need to do to get back on track. I know what you mean about paying for meetings, when YOU are the one doing the work. Granted I had an awesome leader when I started out--and I think it was a key to me learning some things in the beginning of this healthy journey. I do think coming here and posting helps to stay on track. It has been motivating for me to connect with others and know I am not alone. It also helps to hear others ideas--and then vent when you need to. You are probably feeling so tired when you come home because you are not eating. You have to start eating! It has to be as esential in your life as sleeping, bathing and brushing your teeth. You just have to do it, and make a plan. I understand stressful work situations, but you HAVE to get some eating routines established. I drink low-sugar slim-fast in the morning because I am not a big breakfast eater and usually in a big hurry, and this gets me started. You know your body won't turn on the metabolism engine until you eat something. So you have to turn the engine on and keep it going all day! You can do it! What have you done in the past that you found helpful?

tkay90--How are you doing? The whirlpool treatment sounds great! Take advantage of that if you can! From all I have learned about water, it is great for healing and strengthening yourself.

I am off to go shopping! I hope you are all staying on track and having a good day! ;)

Hey girls!!

Lynn- I understand what you're saying about your daughter. Sometimes, people have a "rebound" if you will as a way of dealing with a break up. I have done it. Not my best judgement but felt right at the time. I'm sure she will begin to realize that too. Oh and the guy on the internet, she should meet him in a public place! I met my husband online. We met in a public place. I did not meet him in person until after 2 months of talking. Good things can come from it. It doesnt change the fact that people need to be VERY careful!!

Where is everyone else???

Update on the bomb. It was an Egyptian suicide bomber. He ran his car into the building. Crazy. I guess we'll hear more soon. Nic is working long shifts indefinetly. Now, Im soooo bored and lonely here without him. I love him for doing his job so well though. The diet is good. I haven't cheated at all. I feel i dont have to. I eat alot of Lean Cuisines and Healthy Choice meals though. I hate cooking. Although, I cooked this chicken thing that I found in the recipe forum for NIc tonight. I ate a bit. It was sooo good. All you do is, get 4 chicken breast, 1 cup of ketchup, and 1 12oz diet coke. Yes thats coke. You can find it on the recipes forum. Its 6pts per piece. So good.

Ill check in later.

03-20-2005, 03:30 PM
Hey Deanne! Just checking in before I head off to the store. What is that recipe called? I have to admit it sounds weird! I wouldn't have thought of putting coke in my chicken! I am thinking about chicken tacos tonight. I will check back later!

Ciao for now!

03-20-2005, 03:45 PM
Karen...I'm going to just copy and paste the recipe for you. Yes, it sounds kinda gross. Its wonderful though.

4 skinless boneless chicken breasts
1 c. ketchup
1 - 12oz can diet cola

Place chicken in a non-stick fry pan. Pour ketchup and diet cola over it. Birng to boil and cover. Reduce heat. Cook 45 min. Uncover and turn up heat and thicken til sauce adheres to chicken.

4 servings
4 points per serving

Deanne :df:

03-20-2005, 09:35 PM
DEANNE~~ I have made that chicken before and it is great... karen try it! Deanne I'm sorry you are so lonely, that is the worst feeling in the world. What does nic do ?
PRINCESS~~GOOD for you on the three miles!! wtg~~
KAREN~~ WTG on the four pounds.. whoo hooo...

I am trying something daring starting tomorrow morning. Right after I see the doctor.
I think I'm going to start medifast, they are protein shakes only. If the doctor ok's it i'm going to do it just for a month and then count my calories or do weight watchers.
I ordered this stuff weeks ago and forgot that I did. You drink these shakes with a small dinner of protein, veggies and salad. I know i'm not learning the proper way to eat, but I want this 70 pounds gone!! I am going to Hawaii in July and I want to not only look good but feel healthy as we will be hiking alot.
DEANNE~ I love your pic, how did you get it on your profile? you have to make your own avatar don't you? what size? i'm such a dope when it comes to computers.
Jamie promised me she would meet this guy in a public place, she said they aren't ready for that now, they are just 'talking'...

03-21-2005, 06:09 AM
Hey girls!!

LYNN- I'm glad your daughter is going to meet him in a public place!! Oh, my picture was uploaded on the avatar page. I think that you can find websites to resize your pictures for free. I have a program on my computer for that.
Nic is in International Law Enforcement. He guards the Army base here.

KAREN- Congrats on the weight loss!! I'm so proud of you! Keep it up!

I need more motivation to exercise. The WW is going well so far. Baby steps...

Hi everyone :)

I've been hanging around these boards for the past two weeks, but not knowing what kind of group I could join, well, I haven't joined anything yet... Now this one seems like a nice one, so I think I'm going to settle down here for a bit ;)

For a bit of an introduction: I live in France, 25 years old (will be 26 in August), currently working part-time as a graphic-designer and the rest of the time helping my boyfriend with our small and quite new company (we survived the first year, at least!). Of course I keep my shiny bottom in front of a computer all day long and more, given the amount of things I like to do on a comp, and this doesn't help said bottom to get a little less encumbering, hehe. I started really "working" on my weight problems middle of January this year, when I realized that I had taken back all the weight lost a few years ago, plus some; this frightened me a lot, and I decided that I just refused to let things go any further than that (I was 75 kgs for 157 cm... for the US measures, it's about 165 pounds and 5' 1'', I think). And hey, I want to finally know what I'll be looking once I'm thin... I'm overweight since I'm 8-9, so I simply have no idea! *lol*

Regarding what I did to further this weight loss goal, I adopted the Montignac eating method (a French one), which suits me well enough for the moment, as busting out all the "bad" carbs from my daily food makes me feel pretty better. I also try to exercise at least 4 days a week at the gym, either in weight training or cardio, but these days it ends up to be 5 days/week usually, with lots of walking on the week-end. Crossing fingers for my high spirits to remain, my body can really do with a higher activity than what I made it do in the past years!

Guess this will be enough for the moment. Now looking forward to take a more actrive part in this group! :)

03-21-2005, 09:47 AM
Welcome Kery!!!

03-21-2005, 10:08 AM
Hello All-
Thanks Deanne for the invite to this group. I am looking forward to getting to know you all better.

03-21-2005, 10:32 AM
Good morning all--or afternoon for my friends around the world! ;)

How is everyone feeling today for a Monday? I had a discussion with my husband last night that sort of surprised me. I jokingly said something about taking dance lessons after watching "Shall We Dance", and he said he would love that! I don't know why I was so surprised--he does love to dance and he is European and doesn't have the typical American attitude that I think most American men might have about trying something like that. I am kind of excited about the idea. Our only problem is that he is on the road 5 nights a week--so we may not be able to find a place that would work with our schedules. Darn! It would be fun to learn swing or rumba or some cool dance moves. I thought it would be another good way to exericise (without really thinking about it!). Well, I am going to look into that some more. I will be bummed if something like that can't work out. I can just picture us shaking our tail feathers already! Hee hee. :cb:

Welcome Kery! I spend most of my days in front of a computer as well. As much as I enjoy working on my computer at times, other times I feel glued to the computer--and I don't think this was the intention of my body for life. That's another motivating factor to get moving in the middle of the day, even if its to just take a walk around the office. It can be so easy to get sucked into the work. What is the Montignac diet like? You said something about bad carbs--so does that mean you eliminate bad carbs? I know what you mean about dealing withe overweight issues since childhood. I have never been a naturally skinny person. It is definitely something I have to work for! :tread:

Deanne--Thank you for that recipe. I will have to try it. I have been doing a lot with chicken lately! We are still putting our grill to good use. My husband was busy cooking on it last night--as we ate grilled chicken salads. Funny thing happened (or not so funny to me, as I was wearing a new sweater I happen to like a lot)--anyway, this cherry tomato on my salad decided to explode on me as I was eating it. Only I could make a mess of a salad! Seriously, I have to be the messiest eater on the planet! I think I have a magnetic force for food on my clothes sometimes! Anyway, it was kind of funny!

Lynn--I have a friend who lost 80 pounds on nothing but shakes. She kept it off for two years and then relapsed. So it can be done. As long as you know that it won't be the only way to eat forever (obviously), and make a plan to incorporate real food, I think you will be okay. I think it would be tough--but I understand how you are motivated by that trip. Let us know how that goes!

I am excited because I should be getting my new sandals in the mail this week--3 new pairs of birkenstocks I orderd from I guess I am getting ready for summer! I went a little overboard. I usually never do that--but treated myself after getting our tax refund. I have heard that they are the best sandals--as I don't have any as of yet. Now, all I need is a little sunshine to warm my feet!

Have a great day everyone! :dancer:

03-21-2005, 10:39 AM
Welcome Amy! How do you like 3fc site so far? I have always loved this site for all its info--and these support forums are wonderful. Join in! We would love to hear more from you!

03-21-2005, 12:54 PM
Hello ya'll!!! :coffee: Looks like you've all been busy over the weekend! I was in total study mode, yay!!!!, this was my first weekend dedicated to studying and I think I did ok. On the food and exercise front, not so great, but I anticipated that. Trying to get into the groove again. I have this amazing fitness and food plan, working them together would be great! Today was supposed to be my 1st day back on plan and I am so not motivated, stayed up too late to get up and work out and left all of my food at home for the day. Wish I could say that it was an accident, but 'no' on both counts. I know that a huge part of this is that TOM is within hours away and I have the worst PMS EVER!!!! A week before TOM, not only do I have mood swings and pain, but I have out of control food cravings and I do mean out of control. So, I need to get motivated. It's hard when you feel like you're fighting against yourself! I know what to do and what works, but the crabby lazies are taking over! :?: Could someone offer some advice to get the ball rolling and get re-motivated? HHHHEEEEEELLLLLPPPPP!

Alright, enough with the whining and venting!!!!

Deanne - I saw the CNN story on the bombing in Qatar and thought, isn't that where Deanne is? I'm glad to here that you and your husband are ok. It's very, very brave for both of you to be there! Good thoughts and prayers to both of you!

Karen - I've always wanted to take a ballroom dancing class. I have to admit that I do watch the ballroom competitions on PBS! They costumes are so beautiful and the dancing is so amazing! I love to dance and it is great exercise! I have taken hip-hop classes and boy do you get a workout! I need to see 'Shall We Dance', I was very shocked by this, but a male friend of mine, said it was a good movie, still can't figure out how he ended up seeing it!

Welcome everyone who has joined! Yay!

Oh, I did have one triumph this weekend, I went to a Mavericks game and had 1 lite beer. Only 1 and no food. The beer was a relaxer from the 6 hours of studying and no food, b/c I had already eaten, no eating just b/c.

OK, well, I've taken up enough space! Will check in later.

Everyone have a great day!

03-21-2005, 01:07 PM
Karen - The Montignac diet is based on two "principles": not associating fats and carbs in a same meal, and eating low-GI foods. I'm never sure myself of whether the association bit is truly efficient or not (at least I don't drown my pasta under tons of Swiss cheese anymore, which is probably good regarding calories intake!), but I know that low-GI foods can't harm me, so it makes it nice to follow no matter what. So yeah, it favors the "good carbs" with a low GI (certain fruits, quinoa, brown rice, vegetables...), and says that you need to get rid of the "bad" carbs such as the ones made with refined products, white bread, hamburger buns, cookies, diet coke, etc. All in all, the "bad carbs" being what mainly made me fat at first, I don't think it's a bad deal :p

To be truly honest, though, I've adapted it a bit to my "own needs", so I don't follow it 100% exactly; I note down what I eat everyday, and I just check my overall calories intake, to make sure that I don't overeat "just because the method says you don't need to count".

New girl here! Hi girls. I've just recently found 3FC and I love it. Such a great source of inspiration.

Here's the "skinny" on me...
I am a 33 year old, married, mother of an almost 3 year old son. I live in the mountains of Arizona. Prescott, to be exact. We recently relocated from Denver, Colorado when my mother in law was diagnosed with brain cancer. She has since passed on and we have chosen to stay in Arizona for the time being to sort out her estate. Well, I say "we" have decided, but that is not entirely true...Zach (my husband) is back in Colorado working while Niko (our son) and I are still here in Arizona. It's tough living in a long distance marriage, but it works for us.

I am a Weight Watcher member for about the 3rd time. I first joined in May of 2003 at 227 (5'8"/size 18-20) pounds. I was determined to lose my pregnancy fat and be a thinner bride for our Valentines 2004 wedding. With the support of WW and a personal "bridal fitness trainer" I managed to lose about 50 pounds and squeeze into a size 12. I felt fabulous! However, when the honeymoon ended, so did my committment to losing weight and I managed to pack on some of those lost pounds. I am currently at 204.4 according to my new WW scale. I re-joined last week and tonight I have my first official weigh-in. I've done good this week, but don't feel any lighter. Only the scale knows for sure, I suppose.

I tend to be lazy when it comes to exercise. I grew up playing every sport imaginable, so you would think it would be easy for me, but I just cannot seem to get motivated. I've purchased a WATP DVD and a cardio DVD as well and am determined to start today.

Sooo...that's basically me. I'm hoping to make it to goal before Christmas, which I do not think is too unreasonable. With what I know of WW and the help of a great support group, I know I can do it! I'm looking forward to learning more about all of you!

03-21-2005, 02:04 PM
Hi Dina, I've just gotten a WATP DVD as well, for these days when I don't feel like going out to haul myself to the gym *lol* I've heard it's a nice and efficient program... and I hope it indeed is! :)

03-21-2005, 02:08 PM
Hey girls!!

Txlawchick- Thanks so much for the concern! We're doing ok. Just not drawing alot of attention to ourselves. And if anyone ask, I'm Canadian :) Congrats on the one lite beer! We have Coronas in the fridge. Very tempting on beautiful warm days.

Karen- You poor thing! You got attacked by a tomato! Hehe...thats actually happened to me before.

Amy- Where are you?

Kery- In a way, we all have to adapt our diet plans to ourselves. Thats the only way to make it a lifestyle change :)

Dina- I am doing WW as well. Flex or core? I'm doing Flex and love it so far. I'm very lazy when it comes to exercise. Maybe we can help each other out with both! day. It was pretty good. Its 9pm here so I'm not too far away from bed. I noticed baddd cravings today. I wanted KFC so bad!! Instead, I BAKED a frozen breaded chicken filet and also baked 25 french fries. It was what I wanted from KFC but no frying. Much better. With an apple for a snack in a few minutes, I will be at 23 points for the day. My limit is 22. I've only used 4 weekly allowance points total. Not bad I guess. I tend to feel guilty when I go over 22 at all. Weird.
We still have the cat that I rescued. Nic said I could keep him but he doesnt get along with the other cat. I want a rabbit anyway :)
Hmmm...what else. Nothing else has happened over here since the bomb. Hopefully, that is the end of that. There was a thing on tv that one of Bin Ladens followers told the Arabs to kill westerners in Qatar, Bahrain, Saudi, and the UAE. Don't know if the bomb was connected to that or not. Every noise I hear, I freak out. Some people were shooting fire works earlier...scared me to death!

Ok, Im going to spend time with Nic before he has to go to bed. These 12hr shifts are killing him. Ill check back later.

03-21-2005, 02:41 PM
deanne~~ Nic has an important job, not only protecting the Army but us as well. Jim and I own two electical business`. He runs them and I spend all the money LOL, just kidding ( not really). I'm a nurse, but i've been home since the summer as my mother had a stroke at the age of 64.

Karen~~ I heard those sandals are quite comfy.. enjoy them

As for me... I went to the doctor and she ok'd the shakes. She re-weighed me as she didn't believe the number( the nurse weighed me first) yep.. 198.. I'm so disgusted. She told me that I didn't look to be that weight. I have a very muscular body, but I am only 5'2''. I wear a size 14/16. Once upon a time I was a dancer, I danced for a dance company and ran marathons, oh to do that again... The doctor told me to take a multi vitamin and add a fiber supplement and come back for blood work in a month.

03-21-2005, 02:51 PM
LYNN- We have the same birthdays and same height!!

03-21-2005, 02:54 PM
I am in Jacksonville, Alabama. Nice to meet you.
Amy :smug:

03-21-2005, 05:00 PM
Glad I found this new group. I'm going to the Y now but I'll check in later tonight or tomorrow!

03-21-2005, 05:03 PM
Hi Dina, I've just gotten a WATP DVD as well, for these days when I don't feel like going out to haul myself to the gym *lol* I've heard it's a nice and efficient program... and I hope it indeed is! :)

Glad to hear I have a WATP buddy! I have the Walk/Jog DVD and it's a bit trying. I just finished it and I'm pretty winded. Of course, I am totally out of shape too. I'm sure it will get better with time. Have you tried yours out yet?

03-21-2005, 05:08 PM
Dina- I am doing WW as well. Flex or core? I'm doing Flex and love it so far. I'm very lazy when it comes to exercise. Maybe we can help each other out with both!

I'm doing Flex. It worked for me previously, so I figured why mess with a good thing! Core just seems too hard to wrap my brain around right now. I'm sure it works and there are plenty of people who have lost weight with it, but I just need ALOT more structure than that. I'm all for recipe swapping and journaling with eachother if you want. It would be nice to have someone to chat with who is on the same program AND in the same support group.

Tonight is my first real weigh in since I've been back on plan. Wish me luck!

I also just realized that you can get workout DVD's on Netflix. WhoooHooooo! What a great way to try some out without having to buy. I just ordered Carmen Electra's Aerobic Striptease! Hubby comes home mid-April...hopefully to a slimmer wife with a few new moves!

03-21-2005, 05:22 PM
Hey chickas....

Welcome Beth! Hope you like it here!

Dina- I think for now the Flex plan is good for me. Maybe later on after I have lost weight, I will switch. I don't cook that much but lately I have been trying some new recipes. Some that I got on the WW website and some on here. Let me know if you have any good ones!

Its 12am here and Im not tired at all for some reason!! Im watching Under the Tuscan Sun. Its one of my favorite movies. Anyway, hows everyone doing today?

That's kinda how I feel about Core right now too. I might switch later on after I've lost the weight but for now I still need to be accountable. I'm really not much of a chef either...that's probably how I got all chubby in the first place, but I've been having alot of fun learning. Lately, I've been obsessed with my little fake taco salad. It's easy and only about 4 pts. I take a half head of lettuce, 1/2 cup of black beans, 2 tbsp. of LF sour cream, salsa, and a few sprinkles of taco seasoning and mush it all up together. It tastes really good. If I have extra points I scoop it with 6 FF Tostitos or throw a little LF cheese on top. I can never finish the whole thing but I count the points anyway. And it doesn't save in the refrigerator very well.

Well, off to the grocery and then to WI. I'll be back later to post my loss (hopefully).

03-21-2005, 05:45 PM
Im going to try that taco salad recipe! Check back and let us know your results!

03-21-2005, 05:49 PM
Opps...I meant to say the salad is 2 pts, but with the chips or cheese it's 4pts. Sorry!

I have the one with the "1 mile, 2 miles, 3 miles" workouts, I think it's just called "Walk Away The Pounds", but then I don't know these DVDs well yet, nor how many other workouts she's designed. I got to try the first one tonight, in fact - long story short, I got caught into filling my tax form and I missed my aerobics class at the gym club :(, so I wanted to compensate and not go to bed without having exercised a bit.

It was a nice surprise! I've never worked out using a vid before, I always went to the gym, to a class or outside, so I didn't know what to expect, but it was quite fun. I did the 1-mile workout, then it was too nice to stop so I did it a second time; with the weights, it's really more of a workout than it can seem at first! I think it's really going to be a good way for me to exercise on week-ends, when the gym club is closed, or when I can't go there for whatever reason: no more "I want to exercise, but I don't know what to do without weights or cardio machines at home" excuses :D

03-21-2005, 06:03 PM
Deanne mentioned the cola chicken recipe. I have made this a couple of times at it is so good and very easy. Being from Texas, I can be a huge snot about barbeque, this is just like bbq chicken. I think someone even uses diet orange soda for an orange chicken effect. Yummy! Thanks for reminding of that one! Will make it again very soon!

03-21-2005, 06:56 PM
Deanne~~ omg goodness same height too....!!! You must be sleeping now as it is late there.
Amy!!~~ nice to met ya..
beth~~ howdy.

what is everyone having for dinner? I'm waning already from these shakes, they are disgusting, pure paste <<yuck>> what was I thinking...??
let's see I had a cucumber and 3 shakes so far.. and I'm STARVING!

03-21-2005, 07:52 PM
Just wanted to say that it is nice meeting you all. I didn't do so hot on the eating today. It's the first day of spring break for me. I guess I celebrated with food. I plan to do a lot better for the rest of the week though. Even though I will not be home I plan to watch my portions. Hope you all have a great week. I may not be too active for a while because I will be out of town at my Mom's. I'll be gone Wed-Sat. Have fun!

I think there are alot of different versions of WATP. I'll have to see how well I do with this one and then I might pick up some others. Good for you, for exercising in spite of missing the gym!
Back from weigh in and down 5.2 my first week! I'm SO pumped now! I know you always lose more the first week, but I didn't expect 5 pounds. It won't happen every week, but I'll take it while I can get it. Off to change my weight tracker and on to Week 2!

I'm going to have to make a note to try the Diet Coke Chicken thing this week. I have to admit it does sound rather yucky, but some of the worst sounding things turn out to taste pretty darn good.

Hi gals! :sunny:

Busy day! I had a hard time getting my butt to the Y tonight. I came home and had a bad headache and laid down--and woke up to more throbbing. My daughter was towering over me--pushing me to go "cmon Mom!". Well, there is one more reason it is a good thing to have children--especially when they are pushing you in the right direction! Kind of becomes role reversal, where she is my little mother or something. My problem is I am a night owl--but I went into work extra early with very little sleep so I could get home early to have extra time before going to the Y. Well that plan backfired when I came home with a headache. Tonight I will do better--and try to get more sleep. I also was tempted by a chocolate cake at work (darn that birthday cake). I can say no to any flavor but chocolate. So I settled for a half piece. I think I did okay to only have a half piece. Now hopefully no more temptations like! I hate when someone comes to work with stuff I love! Well I don't exactly hate it, but it sure doesn't help my diet.

I was going to ask what WATP DVDs are--but I think I figured it out in someones response. Walking off the pounds? Right? They sound like something to check out.

Dina--that salad sounds yummy. I love anything with taco/mexican flavor.

txlawchic--Now that you said that cola chicken sounds like bbq--that makes it sound even better. I love bbq!

Amy--Hang in there, and don't worry that you fell off track a bit. Just dust yourself off and get back on track. Enjoy your break from school!

purplepansy--I was supposed to make dinner, but after my headache induced nap, I had enough time to pop in a lean-pocket in the microwave, and had a few baked pringles. I just tried them out for the first time--pretty good actually! About the shakes, maybe you can still use one or two shakes a day--and incorporate more real food or you may go crazy from the sounds of it. I know what you mean--I know I couldn't do that every day for days on end. Breakfast--yes--but nothing more then that. I need real food! Let us know how that goes.

Kery--The diet you described sounds similar to Suzanne Somers "somersizing". And from what I understand she based her books on things she learned from a French diet, so that makes sense. It uses food combinations and doesn't mix carbs with meats or fats. I tried it for a while, but I realized that food combining is really tough for me. Maybe I just didn't stick with it long enough, as I know some people who have done this kind of diet for a long time and once they got past the first two weeks didn't have as much problem. I guess there is a lot of sugar cravings to get over.

Beth--Glad to see you found the support thread! This has turned into a nice little support home, I hope you like it!

Deanne--Now you are thinking about a rabbit?! You sound like me--I love animals. I drive my husband nuts with our zoo. He loves our German Shepherd (Max), but he could live without all the other animals in our crew. But he puts up with them for me I guess. He knows I have soft hearts for fuzzy critters. I will have to rent Under the Tuscan Sun again...I fell asleep the first time (because I was tired, bad habit of mine and movies). The latest movie I loved was The Notebook....that was a tearjerker, but well worth it! Have you seen that? By the time your read this it will be morning--so good morning to ya!

Well ladies, I am off to get some cleaning done before I go to bed. Hope everyone is on track for Tuesday!

Thought for the day--(I read this on an inspirational poster at the Y) OPTIMISM--the difference between stumbling blocks and stepping stones is how you use them.

03-21-2005, 11:49 PM

Way to go with 5.2 pounds down! Yeah! Good for you! Keep it up! :strong:

03-22-2005, 02:30 AM
Dina - 5.2 pounds in one week, that's good! :)
Here are the DVDs I have: Walk Away The Pounds ( I don't have the ball-shaped weights that go with it, but I have 2-pounds weights at home for my barbells, so I took these ones and it works just fine as well.

Karen - It's very possible thatshe got inspiration from Montignac, i'll have to check this book again someday, if only out of curiosity. The food combination can be a bother for some, I know, but I'm an easy-going person regarding food normally - I don't take sauces nor do complex cooking, so for me, a piece of fish and green beans isn't very different in the end from fish with rice or something. I was okay with the sugar cravings for the most part, I packed on strawberries and other fruits and they helped me through it, as they "taste" pretty sugary. All in all, it could've gone way worse :)

As for the WATP workouts, yes, they're exactly that. It's basically walking, while holding small weights and moving the arms too. Sounds easy at first, yet it's more efficient than it looks!

03-22-2005, 06:49 AM
Hey chicks! :D
I know y'all are probably all asleep right now but I just wanted to say Good Morning for when you're up!

Dina- Congrats on the 5.2lbs!!!! AMAZING!!

Karen- How are you hon? I have a list of animals I want including Sugar gliders, ferrets, chickens, ducks...its ridiculous!

Txlawchick- I never thought about the chicken tasting like bbq but it does! Funny thing is, I HATE bbq sauce. But the chicken is awesome! I read a recipe where instead of ketchup you use salsa. Its 3pts instead of 6. Ill have to try this one.

Lynn- Maybe you should drink less of the shakes and add more foods. I don't think I could do that diet. I admire you for being so brave!!

To everyone else- have a wonderful day!

Everyone else...have a great day!!

03-22-2005, 10:36 AM
AMY~~ You will do better today. I had a bad day yesterday as well, I dunno why. I went to the doctor and was psyched about my new plan... food was calling me name.

DEANNE~~ GOOD MORING TO YOU or should I say good afternoon to you as it is prolly afternoon. I love your sigy. I'll do a goal by my birthday as well...
Girls~~ I have a few of the WATP, are they good. I dunno why I haven't tried them. I have a treadmill and I walk about 45mins at an incline. I plan on doing that is AM.
I have a pretty crazy day today and plans of meeting a friend for coffee at 5pm..She's a twig and will prolly down a few donuts while I sip my black coffee.. urghhh..
If anyone keeps track of the NY news, The daily news had those scratch offs? WEll a good friend of mine thought she won and even inquired about a cruise, I told her sat night, don't count your chickens, but there were the numbers, in plain site. She's quite upset.
DEANNE, what is the time difference there? do you live on a military base???? Stay SAFE

03-22-2005, 10:40 AM
Yay tomorrow is my weigh in!!! Hopefully I can reach my March goal!

I have a job interview with ITT tomorrow. So, I need to go get highlights in my hair tonight. I dyed my hair black a few months ago just for the **** of it. Now, I miss my blonde hair. I'll start slowly with the highlights.

I'll talk to y'all later tonight!

03-22-2005, 10:43 AM
DEANNE~~ good luck with the highlights and better luck on the job interview!!

03-22-2005, 11:00 AM

03-22-2005, 12:22 PM
I have told myself that I will not weigh for two weeks. I really want to stick with this. I really want to wait a month but I dont think I can wait that long. How often do you gals weigh? So my weigh in day is now April 5th. That is two weeks from today and my scales are in my closet LOL! You guys CAN'T let me weigh myself ;) .
Have a great day

03-22-2005, 01:23 PM
Hi it has been a few days since I have been able to be here. I have been down in my back but I am better thank the Lord. My hubby bought me a treadmill last night (Weslo Cadence c22). I really like it. I am starting out slow about 10 min's twice a day. I hope that this won't make my sciatic nerve act up!

Sounds like everyone is doing great! I weigh in on Friday, I sure hope the pound I lost does not find me and I lose some more!!

Ya'll have a great day!

03-22-2005, 01:55 PM
WOW Thats great have fun with your new treadmill !!!!

03-22-2005, 02:01 PM
Well, I weighed this morning (224) what I weighed when I went to the doctor 3 weeks ago, so I guess that's not great, but at least not disastrous considering I haven't exactly been on the wagon. I am thinking that Memorial Day is 10 weeks away and that's a good motivator. I could be at 204 by then if I can get moving. Should be a little easier now with the good weather coming in.

Hi, BTW, I've been reading this thread for a while but am finally getting out of the shadows, I need a little more virtual contact to stay motivated longer than 30 minutes. Glad you guys are here!

03-22-2005, 02:16 PM
Curvychick--good job working out! Just think all that soreness is helping to burn calories! Keep with it!

Amy--I know what you mean about it being hard not to weigh yourself. When you start, the scale can become a stairstepper! I have been guilty of that, weighing myself 10 times in a row. I don't think I could wait a month--I know I couldn't! Just think, you will have better results if you don't constantly weigh yourself, and stay honest with what you eat. You can do it!

tkay90(Tina)--Glad you are feeling better. It is good you are starting slow in the treadmill. Great job getting started!

Deanne--good luck with the job interview. Is it for a part time job? I am sure you would like something to keep you busy. Keep us posted!

Lynn--I know what you mean about having twiggy friends who can eat the table when you are just the opposite. Focus on the conversation, and not the food instead--if you can! Maybe you can plan to have an alternative that is healthy and good--if that is possible? Sometimes I will order fruit or something, just to be able to eat at the same time. I know it's hard, especially if the friend orders something you LOVE and you feel that it will sabotage your efforts (unless you can plan that as a treat for the week).

Nothing too exciting going on here...I found some sugar-free mentos that I picked up in the gas stations last night. They were pretty good candies for a sweet tooth fix. Plus a coworker let me try the WW 1 point chocolate cakes. Pretty good! I had an indian chicken wrap for lunch (that consists of curry chicken, spinach, fat-free cheese, tomato on a whole wheat tortilla). It was tasty. In the afternoon I am going to have a Dannon "light 'n fit smoothie" for a snack. They are only 80 calories and 0 fat! Pretty good actually. I think I am having baked chicken for dinner cooked with rosemary. Rosemary is an excellent seasoning for chicken and potato dishes. Anyone else try any new recipes lately? I love getting new recipes tips. I still have the coke chicken on my agenda to try.

Ciao bellas! :)

Gracias Karen I'm Trying It's Really Hard I've Been Really Depressed Lately And It Hard Not To Go Into The Kids Snack Drawer Thank You So Much For Your Support This Is The Only Place I Could Get It From Cuz At Home Forget About It My Husband (crap) Oh And I Get Support From My 6 Years Old Daughter When I Came Back From The Gym Last Night And I But Her To Bed She Ask Me I Was My Workout And I Told Her That It Was Good And She Said Yeah I Think It Was Cuz You Look Skinnyer Lol If It Was That Easy.
Thanks Again For The Suport.

03-22-2005, 04:25 PM
Welcome skinnymrs! Keep on posting--tell us about yourself! What kind of plan are you on? Memorial Day is a good goal to shoot for. Don't worry that you haven't been on the wagon, just jump on now and get ready for a ride! It may not be easy every single day, but baby steps will get you there. Think of the little things that you can do to make it work. Water, plan, recipes? Whatever works for you! Make it happen! You can do it! Rah rah rah! Okay, done being a cheerleader for the moment!

Curvychick(Jessica)--I know what you mean about kids. My younger daughter (her name is Jessica too), she says to me "mom you are getting skinny" after one workout. Geez, I wish it was that simple. That would be almost as easy as thinking myself thin! Ha ha! But I still like to hear it. It is sweet! Keep it up! Because you CAN!

03-22-2005, 04:59 PM
Thank you Karen your GREAT :goodvibes :dancer:

:coach: I need that

03-22-2005, 05:03 PM
Hey girls!

Lynn- I think we must have been posting at the same time earlier because I missed your post! I'm 8 hours ahead of EST. Nic and I live in a compound about 15 minutes from the base. Where do you live?? Oh, the ladie at the hair place made my appointment and then she left 45 minutes before it was time. So, I called the manager. I was sooo mad!

Karen- How are you today? We have alot of curry over here. I swear, its in EVERYTHING. Nic will swear they put it in everything at McDonalds! Oh and I love rosemary. I tried a recipe before I got on WW. You just get potatoes, cut them up and put in a bowl. Add olive oil and celery salt. Shake it up to coat the potatoes. Then, bake them. It is so good!! I read that you can use either celery salt, chili powder, or mustard powder.

Curvychick- I think we have all let ourselves go at one point. The thing is, we're all working towards something new!

Amy- I weigh myself once a week. Tomorrow is my weigh in day. We won't let you get that scale out!! Concentrate on eating well!

Tkay- I wish I had a treadmill. Was it expensive? I work out in increments too. I think it makes it easier. It also helps keep me going throughout the day.

Skinny- We're all here for you!

So, my dad was ok except the hair appointment falling through. I'm still getting used to Nic being at work for so long everyday. It is kind of nice though. Tomorrow, Im going out to this mall thats about 30 minutes away but they have a grocery store that carries the best lean cuisines! There are only 2 stores here that carry them. Nic planted a sunflower for me and it bloomed today! Its about 7ft tall. Its gorgeous! I'm going to plant some tomatoes tomorrow. I'm laying on the bed, Nic is snoring and the cat is trying to sleep on my chest. She wont move!! Anyway, I will check in later.

03-22-2005, 05:29 PM
A good evening from France :) Which will soon turn into a good night, I think, exercise today was a killer and I feel that it's soon time to give some rest to the good ole' body. I'm slowly getting into my new "style" of lifting weights, though so I expect that it won't be a killer for long... well, until I up the weight load again

Skinnymrs - Welcome in! :) And yup, you can always climb on the wagon again, nothing's lost!

Amy - Regarding weighing oneself, I do it once a week, every Monday morning (before drinking/eating anything, and after having, err, emptied myself *lol*). Sometimes I give in though, especially when I've been a good girl with eating and exercising, and gets on the scales in the middle of the week, "just to see". But I try to not do that too often.

Tina - Crossing fingers for your treadmill not to wake up the back pain again, the sciatic nerve can be such a bother... and this is a euphemism :/

03-22-2005, 05:58 PM
Ok Ladies, I am new and very nervous. I am a SAHM of 2 kids (a girl 9,and a boy 13) both in school, so there is no reason I can't exercise. I will have been married for 18 years (in June). I was a size 3 when we married! I cater and do cakes very part time, (not an easy thing to do trying to lose weight!) I am going to try the South Beach Diet. I am a carb addict. I need something to help me stop the cravings and learn to eat healthier. I love sweets and bread and basically anything starchy. I could live on carbs. I seriously mean that. That is why I chose this diet. To help get me off so many bad carbs and hopefully to stop the cravings. We will see. I hope to start the diet in the next couple of days. I am in the process of reading the book right now. I am really scared....scared of failing. I know if I don't lose some weight by this summer I will hate myself. We spend almost every weekend at the lake (with little bitty skinny family members! UGH!) and to visit my husbands family in Florida on the beach. My hubby and I have also planned a romantic trip this summer to the mountains and it would be so nice to start feeling good about myself by then. I have lost before, only to gain back. That is what scares me the worst.

03-22-2005, 06:05 PM
Thanks for all the encoragement! I want to make my ticker (my sig) move LOL. . .for some reason just something as simple as that is making me be good. I just hope it keeps up!

03-22-2005, 06:16 PM
otbskinny- I see you're from Mississippi. I'm from Jackson and my husband is from Biloxi. We're in the Middle East now though. Where in MS are you?
You have to put your mind to it. Tell yourself that you are going to lose weight and you are going to keep it off!! Just make sure that you choose a diet that can turn into a healthy lifestyle to maintain your weight loss. You have to choose something that you know you can stick with!!

03-22-2005, 06:31 PM
Gee, it is 10 weeks until our 40th wedding anniversary. Let's see - 2 pounds a week, and I should be at 164! How exciting! I am going to go for it!

I am doing Weight Watcher Flex and watching the "bad" carbs.

I have been trying to get going on this weight loss thing for years. Let's just say that I have Maintainence down! LOL

Thanks for all the comments. My treadmill originally was $199.99 but we got 15% off so we paid $164 plus tax... not bad!

Deanne- What military branch is your hubby in? I had a friend stationed in Turkey but then got to come home a few months ago.

Karen and Jessica- that is so cute that your children say that. I wish mine would cheer me on. I guess they hear me say that I am fat so the other day my son asks me why my butt was so big? Talk about cutting my ego!!

This is great - I am so excited to find a community where women help each other to be motivated and lose weight. I have about 20 pounds to looks and so I recently started the "core" plan at weight watchers. I am excited - but find that I am having side effects and wanted to know if anyone else is on the core plan and if they experience side effects. I am a self annointed candy and carb adict and have gone 4 days without candy :?: and bread. It's not easy since I was used to eating candy all the time - but it's not that bad - yet. I find on the plan that I am full - but the side effects are seriously killing me here - I am experiencing very painful bloating - did anyone else experience this - it feels like a ballon is blown up in my stomach - any ideas or insight - would be great.

I am excited to be a part of the group.

hi MM
I did weight watchers in 99 and lost 45pds It works. I never did the core. From what I read it is eating healthy foods. I think cutting out processed foods? like pretzels, chips etc? Maybe you can cut down on the fiber?? to decrease the bloating?

Good evening ladies...

I was feeling some serious cravings tonight. I have to admit PMS hit me hard. I settled with a Easter Puff (I think they are 3 points) and some water. I think I did okay--even though I have had very bad thoughts! Darn it!

Although, I did get a little inspiration. I was watching Dr. Phil that I taped today, and he was talking about weight loss challenges and his 7 keys to weight loss in his book. The number one key he mentioned is gaining control of our minds in being healthy. How true is that? You can't do it, if your mind is not ready. Another key that seems to make total sense is getting rid of all the junk in the house so there are no temptations. I did do this for the most part, but I do have some individually wrapped goodies. I do better with the individual wrapped stuff--if its just one big bag of cookies I could eat way to many. But eating one easter puff like I did today was better. Although I have been trying real hard not to go there at all--since I feel like I can easily fall back in old habits if I allow myself to get caught up in the late night munchies.

Lynn--I just watched American Idol too! I do like my reality shows, especially AI. Not sure I have a true favorite (like the first season, I always liked Kelly Clarkson), but I do like Carrie Underwood.

Welcome 02bskinny (Kim)!

I am going to keep this short and sweet~gotta get some stuff done before I head to bed! G'nite y'all!

03-23-2005, 12:16 AM
Has anyone tried a cup of instant low sodium chicken broth to cure the hunger pangs? Ive been doing it the last couple of days if i happen to get hungry before bed or in between a meal and seems to be working well. Im just using the cubes or instant kind thats like 10-15 calories only. thought i would share my idea and see if anyone else has tried it before. :)

03-23-2005, 03:02 AM
Karen - Getting rid of all the junk food in my house was what I did first thing when I decided "NOW I'm starting with a healthier eating"! *lol* It was a bit weird until the next groceries-shopping day, as almost all I had left after this could easily be summarized by something like 'frozen green beans and a few apples', but at least then I knew I wouldn't be tempted, nor would want to drive 15 kms to town just to grab cookies. "Far from the sight, far from the stomach" can work pretty well ;)

03-23-2005, 05:38 AM
Hey girls!!

o2bskinny- I am on WW flex plan. I love it so far! I have heard of Hernando. I love your signature!!

Lynn- Actually the malls here are much better than in the States. I love them!

Tkay- My husband is a former Marine. Now, he is in International Law Enforcement and works on the Army base here. He grew up in Turkey. Both of his parents are retired Air Force.

Girly- Congrats on your weight loss!! Im going to try the chicken broth thing!

Meadows- Im on the flex plan so i cant help you out with that. Any
change to your diet can cause problems. Probably temporary. Give your body time to adjust.

Karen- Oh how i miss my doctor phil. We have re runs here.

Kery- Thats good. You have to remove the temptation!

Ok chickas...I did my weekly weigh in today and lost 3lbs this week. Yay me! Hopefully, I can keep losing. Anyway, its a new week for me. I want to try to do better than I did last week.

I will check in later...

03-23-2005, 07:44 AM
I've been reading your posts would you mind if I join you here?
my down side of easter is jelly beans. Bonnie

03-23-2005, 08:10 AM
Welcome in, Bonnie :)

I very much doubt that you joining us is a problem, hehe ;)

03-23-2005, 09:03 AM
Welcome Bonnie!

03-23-2005, 09:12 AM
Good morn all and good afternoon Deanne,

I just can't do the shake thing. I'm going back to weight watchers, but having the shakes in the morning for breakfast. I want to lose, but I want to EAT!
I can't believe we are suppose to get 4-6 inches of snow. I went out and bought some spring plants yesterday, but it looks like I won't be planting them anytime soon. Easter is sunday and it feels like January. I have to stop at Target and finish my easter shopping, although my girls are teens, they still like an "easter basket". It has gotten challenging trying to come up with stuff to put in there.
bon~~ hello and welcome!
deanne~~ wtg on the three pounds. I lost one, but I'll take it!!
kery~~ you are so right about getting rid of the junk food in the house. I do much better when there is no tempation.
karen~~ I missed the dr phil show yesterday, I wanted to watch it, but forgot to tape it. I love him. He is so right on. I have his book and have read it. It just takes time for things to sink in... :)
girly~~ I do the broth alot. I think it helps during that time of month when I want a salt fix.
Have a great day all and stay healthy!!
ps... american idol had the wrong numbers.. ohhhh myyyy they have to redo the show again tonight...

03-23-2005, 09:26 AM
Kery, I wish I could get rid of all the food in my house. With Kids that is difficult to do. I always swore though that if it were just me........I would not have much of anything in the house as far as food goes. Too tempting.
Deanne, You have heard of Hernando? That is great! We are just south of Memphis right off I-55. Do you still have your Southern accent?
Bonnie, I am a couple days new too. Welcome!

03-23-2005, 09:32 AM
good morning kim!

03-23-2005, 09:46 AM
Yay Nic will be home in 2 hours!!

Lynn- Im glad you decided to switch to WW. I drink Slimfast shakes for breakfast, they're so good!

Kim- When Im in MS, they say I have a yankee accent. When im up north, they say I have a southern accent. I've moved around so much my whole life. I have lived in MS off and on though. Its like the blackhole, you always go back. I used to drive by Hernando on the way to Memphis every weekend.

Ok girls, I've got some stuff to do. Our sunflower bloomed all the way today...I have to go water it. Not sure I want to touch it though, it might die :)

03-23-2005, 12:59 PM
Kim - Okay, with kids it's another matter... Hmm, perhaps they can have "their" own storage place for the foods they like? (Such as a single cupboard, where they can take their snacks etc.) It won't be like throwing all the junk away, but if it's not right under your nose or in the cupboards where you pick the rest of the foods, it can already be a start?

03-23-2005, 02:26 PM
WOW! I'm only gone for one day and I've missed out on a ton of pages. I'm off to catch right back!

03-23-2005, 02:26 PM
Hello, everyone! Hope all is well! I signed into a 52 day challenge on another site to get a major boost of accountability going. Today is the first day and so far, so good. Got out of bed and power walked for 40 minutes, almost half of my water (1 gallon) is down and have had 2 of my 6 meals for the day. Wooohooo! Baby steps though, not expecting to obviously be at goal in seven weeks, but would like to successfully complete this and be closer to goal! Wish me luck!

I will continue to post of course, b/c I definitely need the support and ya'll are great!

I think someone had a question about CORE and bloating. One thing that helped me when I was on CORE was to drink tons and tons of water! You'd be amazed of the difference. Hope that helps!

Got to run! Will check in later!

03-23-2005, 02:37 PM
Hey girls! Things went pretty well today as far as WW. I thought that I would be over my points but I'm .5 under. I was able to eat ALOT tonight. I feel so full. I think this is the first time I have felt this way since being on WW. I dont like it. I feel sick. I just ate a fat free chocolate pudding cup. I bet that helped :)

Anyway, I'm pretty tired right now. I think I will go to bed here pretty soon. Nic has to get some sleep for work tomorrow. The 3am wake up call comes pretty fast. I think I am PMSing. My periods have been so irregular for the past year but the past few months they've been on time. I feel bloated, emotional, and sore. UGH. My birthcontrol helped that but I got off of it last September because we wanted to try and get pregnant. I was not able to and then by last month we decided that there has to be a reason why I cant. So, we decided that maybe it just wasnt time for us. I wanted to get in shape and know how to handle my weight before I got pregnant. Anyway, I just dont want to get back on the pill for fear of weightgain.

Ok, I might check in later. If not, good night or good morning to y'all.

03-23-2005, 02:52 PM
Whew! Lots of good comments, support and suggestions. I'm definitely trying out the chicken broth to curb hunger tip. I sear I could have eaten a horse yesterday. Luckily I managed to get by with a bunch of 1 point snacks, but in my journal it looks like I totally pigged out! Doing better today by drinking more water.

Tonight I am trying the feta chicken on the recipe board. Had anyone made this before? It sounds decadent and only 4 points, I believe! I'll let you all know how it works out.

What's this about AI having the wrong numbers up last night?!?! I watched the show, but I never vote so I didn't notice. I'll have to read up on it. Are they all singing again tonight? Crazy.

Oh...I forgot to mention. I have a seperate cupboard for my son's snacks. It works great for me. Even he knows they are off-limits to momma and will tell me "Mine!" whenever I even open the door. This is the ONLY time I let him get by with talking back to me! haha! Leave it to a 3 year old to keep me on plan!

Well, it's back to work for me. Only 10 minutes until lunch time. Wish me luck girls. It's "that time of the month" (sorry if that's TMI) and I swear I could eat my weight in junk food right now. I think I'm going to grab a salad somewhere. Any suggestions?

03-23-2005, 03:17 PM
Deanne, it took my husband and I 2 years to get pregnant. We had given up. Then with the second one it only took 2 months. Go figure. I don't blame you for wanting to lose weight first though. Good luck!

Kery, My husband suggested that too. Have my own shelf and they have theirs. Maybe I could cover theirs up some how! HEHE!

Lynn, Good afternoon! Are they doing the whole show over tonight (American Idol)? I missed most of it last night, so I wouldn't mind if they did.

Everyone else! Hello! Hope your day is an easy one!

03-23-2005, 03:20 PM
Oh, It sounds like we are all about on the same cycle. Everyone is PMSing or just started. Me too. Very hard time to diet. UGH!

03-23-2005, 03:43 PM
Wait, wait, I'm not in full harmony here, my cycle just ended! *lol*

(Does it happen to everyone to get hungry right before their period, though? I used to feel like this as well, craving sugar and stuff like there's no tomorrow, but when I got on the pill it totally stopped this, as well as being bloated and having cramps. Somehow I wonder if I didn't have some hormonal imbalance before, and it somehow fixed it. I'm going to cross my fingers for it to go on this way!)

Kim - Yes you should try that :) Or placing the snacks in a cupboard too high for you to reach perhaps, but if I remember well your children are still a bit too young to be taller than you, so they also couldn't reach their food there? (Now, of course, if some healthy food happens to leak in the snacks cupboard... :D)

03-23-2005, 03:58 PM
Oh, It sounds like we are all about on the same cycle. Everyone is PMSing or just started. Me too. Very hard time to diet. UGH!

This is too funny!

03-23-2005, 04:09 PM
Yup...we're all either PMSing, just finishing, or just starting. Weird. Ok, I know this is going to be TMI but I have to tell someone. This was sooo embarassing. A few minutes ago, Nic and I were "doing stuff" to put it nicely. We finished so I got up to turn the AC on. I realized the window was open. Now, I live in a compound with about 30 villas. We have 3 guards at the front as well as the 2 guards that live here. The villas are very close. Alot of the people here leave their front doors open to let in fresh air. I don't even want to show my face anymore. There are villas in the middle of the compound that house my husbands coworkers. This is SO embarassing. Anyway, sorry I had to vent.

Ok, I cant sleep now. So, Im watching Friends reruns. I was thinking that we would have to get up at 3am to get Nic off to work. I forgot hes off of work tomorrow! His first day off in 2 weeks. YAY!! We're going to go to the Animal Souq(market) tomorrow. I want to look for a bunny. I wanna get one and name it Cadbury. Its silly but better than me eating a cadbury egg!! :)

How is everyone? Other than all the PMSing?

03-23-2005, 04:10 PM
P.S. Kery...I get soooo hungry right before and during my period! Does not mix well with dieting!

03-23-2005, 04:37 PM
Other than PMS'ing, I'm doing pretty good. I wound up at Jack in the Box for lunch...bad, I know! I ordered a Classic Chicken Ciabatta (sp?) sandwich thinking it looked hamless...well, I was wrong. 10pts! And it wasn't even good. I could have had a burger for that many points! Darn it! I was figuing it at 6-7, but says 10. Oh well, live and learn I guess. Now I really have to watch it tonight.

Oh, and I meant to respond to your earlier comment about taking awhile to get pregnant. It happened that way for us too. I was at my wits end with charting and all that. Decided to stop charting, took a B12 vitamin everyday and 2 months later got pregnant. Granted, it took us 2 years, but it DID finally happen. I think sometimes it's just fate.

03-23-2005, 04:58 PM
Dina...I have heard so many stories about women that chart and everything, get fed up, stop and then they get pregnant!! Im sure that we'll try again soon. I just want to be healthy before I bring another life into the world.

Jack in the Box sounds so yummy right now! Hehe...I have been there one time. We didnt have them in Mississippi.

03-23-2005, 05:17 PM
Deanne, YOU GO GIRL! You gave me a huge laugh. It isn't funny to you, I know, But it sounds like something that would happen to me. Thanks for sharing!
No Jack in the Box here. Deanne is right we don't have them in Mississippi. I have seen them passing by on trips though.
And as far as our cycles go.........the more we communicate, the closer our cycles will get. Always happens. HEHE!

03-23-2005, 05:28 PM
Wow~~busy day on the board! I love it! :D

Deanne--I hope you are still not red with embarrassment. You will be the popular roomie after that for a while. I guess you have to be extra careful around those windows/doors living so close to others! Yikes! By the way, how did that interview go, or did you go? By the way I like your signature line!

Kim--When it comes to my kids I try to encourage them to eat healthy snacks too, because the truth is, do they really need to eat cookies or chips? I know, I know--I have some in my house too "for the kids"! That is part of the reason I buy individual wrapped sweets and salties, so that I really have to make an effort to get in a bag and if I do its a smaller serving. Surely I won't open 2 or 3 single serving bags. I know it can happen, but it does make you think. Also, rather then buying regular cookies you can get things like graham crackers or animal crackers, and things liked baked chips--so even the kids are not eating as bad as they could be. Or how about granola bars? The thing that I feel bad about, is that I did give my kids some of my bad habits with wanting sweets and snacks so often. So I have been encouraging them to pay attention to servings sizes--and choose healthier snacks that they like, such as carrots and low-fat veggie dip. Just some ideas. But you have to ask yourself--am I doing my kids a favor by thinking they should have snacks that aren't healthy? I am guilty! Wish I would have changed that sooner!

Txlawchic—Good luck on that challenge! Let us know how that goes! Water is always good—so that is an excellent tip. We should all strive for 8 to 10 cups at least! Guzzle up!

Dina—I know what you mean about the boards, it’s a chatty day here! I was only away a few hours, and wowee! :)

Girly2004—Your broth tip is great! I have heard that filling up on soup before eating a meal is helpful too. So that is a similar idea. The only thing that some people have to be careful of is the sodium. But so far, I don’t have too much of an issue with that—plus there are low-sodium broth options.

Lynn—How is the shake thing working for you in the mornings? Isn’t that what you said you were going to try? I do slim fast in the morning like Deanne. I have been drinking slim fast for breakfast for more than 5 years. I do like them, and now they have lower-sugar options that are pretty good.

Kery—How are you doing? What is the weather like in France right now?

I was feeling really tired this afternoon. What is wrong with me? I hate that! I think I haven’t been going to bed soon enough. I am such a night owl—and I just can’t help it. Well maybe I can, but habits are hard to break. I have always been this way. I stay up till nearly 2am every night, and need to wake up at least by 8am. I guess that isn’t too bad. But I should do better. That sure doesn’t help me to get motivated with my exercise. By the way, do any of you exercise in the morning? I have heard over and over again that morning exercisers do much better in the long term. But how do you get that started when you tend to be a slow-morning riser? I really want to change that. I need to do more exercise then two days at the pool. That is great—but I don’t think it is enough. I think I need to add at least one more day, and then maybe I will work my way up to 5 or 6 days over time. That’s my goal!

I hope you are all having a happy and healthy day! Keep posting! ;)

03-23-2005, 05:36 PM
Hi Karen! You make a great point about giving your kids sweets. I've totally been guilty of that one! I try to give Niko mostly healthy treats, but he's a sucker for M&M's...and unfortunately so am I. We were using them as rewards for potty training, but for the same reasons you pointed out, I've switched to Disney stickers. Work just as well and I don't have the urge to "treat" myself everytime he poops!

Deanna - Good for you for wanting to be healthy when you get pregnant. It will definitely help. I was also trying to lose weight and exercise more and I totally think it had something to do with it. Unfortunately, it the good habits didn't carry over once I got pregnant. I gained 70 pounds! I'm still not at my pre-poregnancy weight. That's alot of the reason I am here. Whatever you do, DO NOT give in to the Dairy Queen pregnancy hormone!

03-23-2005, 05:40 PM
Deanne - Don't be embarrassed! Okay, so I'm totally jealous of your little encounter! Makes me miss Zach tons. You were totally cracking me up at work though. Thank goodness my office door was closed.

03-23-2005, 05:46 PM
Karen- Nic and I were just excited to both be awake and none of the roommates were here. We had the whole house to ourselves. So, we didnt have to keep the volume down. I seriously dont want to go outside anymore. I will just live the rest of my life in this room!!
I too am a night owl. I love being awake at night when the house is quiet. This is also the time when I binge too. So, I need to change the night owl thing too.

Dina- We actually have a dairy queen here. A dairy queen in the Middle East. Yuck. It is the nastiest thing...EVER. So, I wont have to worry about that! :)

Kim- That is so true! In high school, my girlfriends and I had our periods at the same time. I'm glad I gave you a laugh. Nic thought it was funny too! Ok, ok so its sort of funny. Ill still spend eternity in this room :D

I have a question for those of you on WW. Do you ever feel guilty for using your flex points? Even if I go just 3 points over, I feel guilty!

Ok, almost 1am and Im still up. Not good. Ill probably be up for a while though. I took my zoloft late today so now im wired.

03-23-2005, 05:51 PM
Haha Dina!!! The worst thing is...the guards sit out side. About 50ft from our villa. Ugh. You know how when you dont know another language but for some reason you know the bad words? Well, the guards dont know english because they're from Nepal. Well, Im pretty sure they understood what was being said. Great.

03-23-2005, 06:12 PM
I feel guilty for using flex points too, but it's inevitable (sp?) sometimes. Last week I think I used up about 18 total, and so far this week I've used 10 and it's only Wednesday. Yep. I'm using PMS as an excuse, but actually I don't really count AP points, so I am sure they are pretty much equalling out. Seeing that negative number at the end of the day though sort of hurt my I didn't meet a goal.

Dairy Queen here really isn't much better. There's just something about the way it tastes when your pregnant though. I never went before. Strange. The only fast food I don't think I could live without is Taco Bell. And I eat well there. Fresco chicken soft taco. Only 3 points, YUMMY and filling. Thanks goodness I am learning to cook though. I'm sure it will be MUCH healthier.

I am cracking up at your reference to the "bad words"...too funny! True, very true.

03-23-2005, 06:50 PM
Well, if I am going to lose 20 pounds before May 29, I am going to have to do better than today - I went out to breakfast, and did NOT order wisely. WHY? Why?

OK - I will stop beating myself up, and be OP for the rest of the day.

HEY! How do you get those "tickers" and the pictures?

I will be back with all the good stuff I have done for the rest of the day!
Connie (DTimpma)

03-24-2005, 01:41 AM
I am a few days new to this thread...but what kind of exercise do you all do? I know when I turned 30 I was determined to lose. I lost. I walked and walked. Then I quit, and gained and gained and know the story I am sure. Anyway, I am thinking about walking again. It was good "me" time and it did the trick. Just curious to see what everyone else does.

03-24-2005, 03:38 AM
And a good morning now :)

Karen - I'm doing well, we've been having a pretty mild weather in the past 10 days or so, which was a good change after the 30 cms of snow in my garden :p Now if we could have a sunny weather for Easter week-end, this would be just perfect ;)

o2bskinny - Regarding exercise, what I do these days is mainly weight lifting and some cardio. I started by walking, but then with the awful weather we've had it wasn't very encouraging to stay outside for long, so I decided to hit the gym, and ended up finding lifting weights just as fun as biking. I should try some different types of exercising, but I'm keeping that for later, when the routine starts to bore me.

03-24-2005, 11:08 AM
o2bskinny - I've been doing alot of walking. It's perfect exercise for me, as I can take my son along and he enjoys it as well. I also have a few workout DVD's, although I admit, I am not doing them regularly. Honestly, I just keep forgetting to add them to the "to-do" list. I would love to buy an elliptical machine, but right now I have no money and no space.

03-24-2005, 12:12 PM
Hi ya'll! Well I went ahead and weighed in today instead of tomorrow cause I will be gone tomorrow. Drum roll please...... 1 1/2 lbs gone for the week! So that is 2 1/2 down for 2 weeks. Now to just keep this up! Oh about PMSing.... I just got done last week! And yes it is hard dieting with all the WILD cravings!

Deanne I had to laugh at the "leaving the window open". Umm...I have did that before and my inlaws were coming up onto my porch. I am sure they got their ears full. *embarrassing*

Kim (skinny) I just got a treadmill so that is what I am doing for my exercise right now. I will eventually alternate a little areobics and treadmill. I have to watch what I do with my back.

To ALL good luck and keep up the great work!

03-24-2005, 12:17 PM
GREAT NEWS Tina! Congratulations on the loss! Thats awesome! (If I knew how to insert the little dancing smilies here I would!) I'm so happy for you!

03-24-2005, 12:17 PM
hello all..... I hope everyone is doing well.
Deanne~~ I tried a full year to get pregnant with Jamie, I was your age. I freaked and went running to a doctor. Beleive it or not, we moved, our rent went up and we decided we would wait a year. Two months later I got pregnant! I said " how did this happen"??? When you least expect it it happens. There are fertility monitors out now, my cousin used one and it worked for her.

Karen~~ I was going to do five shakes a day with a tiny meal of protein and veggies. It is very low calorie, I just can't do it. So i'm doing a shake for breakfast and lunch and a snack and eat most points through food.

I AM MAJOR LEAGUE PMSING....... it is due any SECOND.Some months are worse for me, this month is it. I am very emotional, grouchy and depressed. I already have depression and I'm taking zoloft for that, it helps, but nothing helps at TOM.

does anyone post at the weight watchers message boards?? maybe we can form a group there as well for those of us that do weight watchers? just a thought.
deanne~~ sorry about your embarrassing moment.. hehehehehe :)
that girl~~ I always feel guilty about using flex points and to be honest I really don't like that system. I did the winning points and it kept me in check. I found 35 pounds a week to play with too tempting!!
We had 8 inches of snow last night. I can't believe it is spring. It is freezing outside. I love spring and I love to garden. It is a work out and a fast way of tanning! I have a dentist appt this afternoon and I'm wondering how to cancel LOL I know I have to go..
Heather is having a sleep over tonight, nothing like a bunch of 15yo's up all night. Jamie is talking to mike everyday now and they plan to meet monday at school. I told her I wanted a last name and she bit my head off. I said if you disappear what am I to tell the police? I don't have a name or anything. You can't be too careful. He sounds nice but who knows. He is a meterology major same as Jamie.
stay healthy

Wtg Tina On Your Weight Loss!!!

HI SKINNY They just re ran the singing on american idol. It was live but the singing part was a re-run.
I walk for exercise. I have a treadmill and try to walk 3-4 times a week. I live in a very rural area and I love to walk outside, but my road is a major steep hill. Plus my driveway is 1000 feet of hill. I know if I was in shape it would keep me there. The fall and spring and early summer is so nice walking here, but winters are pure ****!

03-24-2005, 12:26 PM
Bah, I gave in to a craving today >.< And that was just because it was easy food to pick on the way home and I wouldn't have to waste time cooking... all of this because as usual, I panick when I have tons of little things to do here and there, and I feel like I never have enough time. I guess my mind is pretty stupid when it comes to this, as I have finished what I needed to do in no time, in fact o.O End result: cardio-training, here I came, and no snack for me after this of course (not that I'd need one after 1 good hour of breaking a sweat - weird, how this can affect my body in a *good* way)

Now on to pack for tomorrow and bring my dog to my almost) MIL, who'll take care of him while we're gone... this will add a good 2-miles walk to my day, it's never a bad thing.

03-24-2005, 12:30 PM
I post occassionally on the WW boards. I use to post more often when I was engaged and wedding planning. There was a whole section dedicated to new brides.

I was a fan of the Winning Points system too, but the support group I was journaling with all switched over to Flex and I went right along with them. It wasn't that big of a deal for me. I do get the tinges of guilt for going over that I mentioned before, but if it's not TOM I am fine with the set amount...usually. This week has been HARD! I've gone over a few everyday so far. It hasn't been an all-out food fest, and I've watched what I put into my mouth, but it's still too much. I'm sure once this darn period is over, I'll feel better. And more like exercising. I've really struggled this week to get in any AP at all.

And now on to the age old question...Do you all notice a difference in loss/energy working out in the mornings as opposed to the afternoon/evening?

03-24-2005, 12:32 PM
Good for you Kery for realizing what you need to do to get back on track! What breed of dog do you have?

03-24-2005, 12:47 PM
That girl~~ I started at 202 and lost a few. I re committed last week at 198. AT this weight i feel horrible. I have no energy, getting myself to work is an effort. At 155 I had more energy then the energizer bunny.
I get up early and walk right after my coffee. If I don't do it, then I don't walk. I feel better and have more energy on day's I do walk
Kery~~ Stay on track!! You can do it.What kind of dog do you have? We have a siberian husky named dakota. I spoil her worse then the kids!!
Deanne~~ good luck with the bunny. We had a pet duck ( like in the movie pacifer) She was the most loving pet I've ever had. She was killed in Feb by a fox and it devastated us. She use to sit with us and watch TV and she even purred. We decided not to get another one as we live in the country and we can't keep them safe. We did have a coup, but we let her out during the day to swim in our pond. She was so domesticated that she wasn't afraid of other animals, We have a cat as well. We have lots of pictures and will remember her always.

Quick hello to's been a crazy morning! I will check back later to post more! Hope everyone is having a happy healthy day!

Hello Ladie, I have started a diet plan 2 weeks ago. I am 22 years old and from Arlington, TX. I have been working out with a personal trainer just to get me on a regular schedule. I hope to loose 45 to 50 pounds by september for our trip to Port aransas to the beach. I have been working hard but i know i can work harder. Well hope i can be of some help to anyone and hope you all can keep me motivated.

03-24-2005, 01:23 PM
I'm thinking of setting up an early morning exercise schedule. That way I can atleast get in some movement before my 3 year old wakes up and I have to care for him. I know it totally sounds like an excuse, but it really is hard to find the time. I just need to MAKE the time somehow. I really hate being this heavy and I know diet alone isn't going to firm up those "problem areas" that I have to look at in the mirror every morning. I started WW at 227, was 232 the week prior to joining but lost a bit that week I dieted alone. I got down to 182 before falling off the wagon for a year. I wound up back at 204 and had enough! I signed up that very day. Granted it was only less than 2 weeks ago, but I am completely recommitted. I've got to get healthy and start feeling better.

Hi Jessica! Welcome to our little corner of 3FC! :)
Okay, I have a dilemma. Here at work we have a luncheon to celebrate the month's birthdays on the last Friday. Basically, if your birthday was in the month of March, we are celebrating it today because of tomorrow being Good Friday. All the "birthday people" are asked what they would like the menu to consist of...I was the only March birthday. Unfortunately, it was a month ago that they asked and I said Mexican. Soooooo, today is the day, and we all know Mexican food is not very diet friendly. I have a Lean Cuisine in the freezer. Do I graciously accept the Mexican food lunch that is being catered and pray I can control myself, or do I opt out of my own birthday luncheon and nuke the LC instead? I won't even ask about the cake....

Back from the walk ;)

Our dog isn't of a specific breed, in fact. The dam is a half-german shepherd, and the sire is a Beauceron (first mistaken for a Rottweiler, due to the color he gave to the son). His name's Vulcain, and he's a wild little 11-months old one now - thus making "walking the dog" more of a strength exercise than a casual walk

Jessica - Welcome to the group! :)

Dina - That's the spirit, hehe. Even if you can make room for 20 minutes a day only, these 20 minutes of exercise will already make a difference! :)

Regarding tomorrow's meal, I don't know how you react to this usually, but say you eat something healthy before, like a good salad, will it help in preventing you from eating too much of the Mexican food after? Recently I had to do that, in fact - we had a "crepes" evening, there was Nutella, ham, cheese, sugar and various home-made jams ready to be put on said crepes, and I really could drop out of the dinner (ah, family stuff), so I opted for the damage-control plan and ate a salad before - then I could only eat 4 crepes before being full (and only ham/cheese, no sugary things this time). It probably worked only because I've been watching my food for 2 months and am now used to eat less (and less bad foods, too), but who knows - perhaps it can work for you too? I mean, as an intermediary measure, that is.

Hello Ladies I See Everyone Is Doing Great Well My Diet Is Going Good And My Excerising As Well...............
So Here Is The Big News I've Lost 4lbs In Very Happy.....

03-24-2005, 03:24 PM
Hi Karen~~ How are you dong. I'm starting to dread Easter coming. I know it will be food-filled. My mother is cooking this year, but I will be helping her. She is status post a stroke in July. My mother is 64 and looks 50. She is very young looking, all of us have those genes, thank god! People mistake my 19yo for my sister. Mom is petite like me but weighs 110 pounds, she walks five miles a day and she had a stroke! That means I am doomed, I have to get this weight off NOW!!
Hi Jessica, and welcome :)
thatgirl~~ I'm with you on re committing. I'm right there with ya! I have to do this and now. I'm turning 42 in Sept and I need to be healthy. I want off these blood pressure pills.
Eat the LC and look for point friendly foods. Few chips and salsa maybe? Don't have the cake!!! If you are anything like me, one bite and you will cave in. Sweets are my major downfall!
Curvy~~ ohhh la la... four pounds!! You will hit goal in no time. Keep up the good work.
I'm off to the dentist..Picture me in the chair with my nails dug into the arm rests. I'd rather to the gyno ten times over! :(
For dinner I'm having a large baked potato with peas and some light butter, small peice of grilled chicken. For dessert some strawberries and blueberries.
For breakfast I had fiber one cereal with skim milk.
stay healthy all

03-24-2005, 03:57 PM
Great job CurvyChick! That's awesome! You should update your ticker!

03-24-2005, 04:05 PM
Well, I made it through lunch. I wasn't exactly bad, but I wasn't exactly good either. Lets just say in order for me to eat dinner I have to exercise and earn some AP's. It could have been worse...way worse. It all looked SOOOOOO good!

03-24-2005, 04:19 PM
how do you add the other numberi started at 224 so how do i add the 220

03-24-2005, 04:33 PM
If you look at your signature, you will see 3 numbers that look like 000/000/ want to change the last number to your current weight and it will do the rest for you.

03-24-2005, 05:02 PM
that is what i did oh well it does'nt matter thank you anyways

03-24-2005, 05:23 PM
Hello everybody, well i started about two weeks ago, last week I lost 2 pounds but i havent weighed in this week, i may try to do that tonight. What all got me started is i was trying to put on some black pants that i havent worn in a while, as i was putting them on they just ripped right up the seam. I said that was it, and called a personal trainer that day. Now I have been eating pretty good and trying to work out 4 times a week. I just hope i can make this a regular schedule.

03-24-2005, 06:03 PM
Hello Vixen's
I just got back from the dentist. My mouth is numb. At least I won't be eating anytime soon :)

03-24-2005, 06:25 PM
Hey girls...I dont have much time to write...its 1am and i need to get some sleep. I tried to sleep earlier but cant now. I have this very uneasy feeling for some reason. I hate that. My Dad sent me a news article on a threat from some Islamic terrorist group. There is a threat with churches here. I dont know if thats what gave me the uneasy feeling or not. Nic is snoring and sounds like a freight train. So, thats keeping me up as well.
I did good on the diet today. We went to Chilis tonight and I did ok with that. I did order something that wasnt great for me but I kept the portion WAY down. I didnt drink as much water today but will try to do better tomorrow.
Nic actually had a day off! We went to look at leasing a car. We looked at several but decided on a Honda Civic. We have a driver but we want a car just in case something happens here. Our poor driver, I think we pretty much pay his bills.

Ok, enough about me. How is everyone doing?

Oh, welcome Jessica!!

03-24-2005, 07:36 PM
New to this group here and I've been reading what everyone is saying and it's truly inspiring.

I've lost about 26 pounds so far but I have so far to go. I'm a little frustrated with myself today. The thing is, I've set a very aggresive loss for me for two weeks, starting last Monday. I wanted to lose 11 pounds in two weeks. Today is Thursday and I've only lost 2.5 pounds since Monday. I know I probably aimed to high. I just wanted to be at the 200 mark in those two weeks because I'm so close. I haven't been under 200 in a long time.

But I'm hanging in there. Even if it takes 3 weeks it's all worth it in the end, right?

03-24-2005, 07:40 PM
Hey soccer! You're inspiring!! 26lbs is great. Just be careful about setting your goals too high! 2.5lbs since Monday is not bad at all! Welcome to the boards. Keep posting.

03-24-2005, 08:19 PM
Hi all! ;)

I had a busy day—had a phone interview this afternoon. I really hope I get called to come in for an in person interview. I have been at my job for almost 5 years, but we have been warned that we will probably have some layoffs in the Fall, specifically in my department (and I have been there the least amount of time). So I am safe on one hand for a few months—but am not the type to wait for things to happen. So anyway, I have been consumed today with thoughts of the interview, since the job sounds like something I want to do with a really good company. Keep your fingers crossed for me, please! Needless to say, I did some naughty things. I ate a donut and then 3 pieces of Papa Johns pizza. Somebody shoot me now! :nono: Okay, enough is enough. At least I didn’t down it with a regular soda. I had diet lemon tea instead (which is pretty good actually, by Lipton). I don’t feel stuffed, just guilty! Moving on….I will jump right back on the wagon. :strong:

Tina: Yeah for you and your 2 ½ pounds down! You go girl! :bravo:

Lynn: Wow, 8 inches of snow! That is really hard to see when you have spring fever. And I know you must, because you want to get out there and plant your flowers in the garden. Me too! But I must say, I was lucky with weather today. We had some rain the past few days, but the really cold temperatures escaped us. Your Mom sounds like a superstar with her walking! It is nice to know you have great genes! :D

Kery: It sounds like you have a good workout routine with the weights. I like nautilus equipment, and sometimes use that. Although I don’t have a good routine right now, except for a couple days of swimming. I need to get back into a rhythm and start doing some type of weight training. I know exactly what you mean about strength training dogs! I have two big dogs (one German Shepherd [Max] and one Golden Retriever [Maddie]). Although my female Golden Retriever pulls like you wouldn’t believe. By the time I am done my arm hurts! I think she could pull an ox! She is really sweet. :p

Welcome Jessicamt: I am going on a trip in September as well, and that is part of my motivation to get in a good routine. What kinds of things does the personal trainer have you doing? Jump on in, and keep posting! :flow2:

Dina: I know what you mean about recommitting. I am right there with you! I also think an early morning workout is something I need to shoot for. I think when it gets warmer (hopefully really soon) I will start taking morning walks. By the way, what did you do about your birthday lunch? Geez that’s a tough one! I am sure since you picked for the birthday lunch you feel like you should indulge. I think if it was me, I would probably go ahead and have the Mexican—but eat only a very small portion compared to what you might have eaten in the past. I know this can be hard, but it can be done. And if you do it, you will be impressed with you willpower. Although, if you feel like its just too hard, then sticking with the Lean Cuisine may be the way to go. Maybe you should fill up on a salad before—so you aren’t so tempted. Just some ideas. By the time you read this it is probably after the fact, so how did it go? Okay never mind—I just read how you did…you did just fine considering all that temptation!

Curvychick: Yeah 4 pounds gone! Happy dancing for you! :bravo:

Deanne: Hang in there girl! I know with your Dad sending you an article like that doesn’t make it any easier. I am sure he just cares, and wants you to be on high alert. I am sure you take every precaution. I am amazed at all the restaurants you mention they a have over there. Do they really have Chilis, KFC, Dairy Queen and Ponderosa? I would never have imagined that. I am sure you will do much better with your water and eating tomorrow. Just think, YOU CAN!

Soccergirl: Welcome! Great job with the 2.5 pounds! Don’t think of losing weight as a race to the finish line. I know easier said then done! But try to focus on how you feel each day. Are you feeling better now that you are eating healthier? Even if it takes you an extra week or two—don’t think the accomplishment is any less. You are 2.5 pounds DOWN, not up….and that is saying something!

Well, time to go do some exciting housecleaning. Oh what fun! But just think, I will burn some calories while I move around the house. Better then sitting on my bootie!

Have a great evening! :encore:

03-24-2005, 09:15 PM
Hi all. It was sunny & 45 today. talked to my sister last nite & they had 6" of snow in Penna.glad it's not us.

03-24-2005, 10:52 PM
Well, my neighbor is going to start walking with me. We will start on week, new goals, and AFTER Easter! I am excited about that. I find that walking in the morning makes me feel best. Like PurplePansy said, If I don't do it in the morning, forget it. Now......I may take ANOTHER walk in the afternoon if I have walked that morning. I loved walking. I am looking forward to starting again.
Kery, one day at a time. If we never had failures, we would have no successes.

03-24-2005, 11:08 PM
Deanne~~ Sorry you feel so anxious. I know that feeling well and it sux big time. Hopefully now you are now in slumber land, it's about 6am now in the Middle East. Good luck with the car hunting and stay safe.

Karen~~Good luck with your prospective job hunt. I'm sorta right there myself. I haven't worked since the summer and it is almost time for me to go back. I have to job hunt and go on interviews, I hate that...I think the stress monster must have gotten to ya and made you eat that donut!!LOL Tomorrow is another day :)

Howdy soccer and welcome
Bon~~good for you dewin jazzersize!! I did it years ago with a few friends, our kiddies were lil and we put them in daycare. I had a blast and boy you get a great workout.

Kim~~Glad you got a buddy to walk. That will make the time go by faster.

Let's not even talk about what I ate tonight. I'm stuffed. I over did it, the TOM monster got to me. I know i'm making excuses but I can't stop eating lately. It is terrible. Tomorrow I'm back on track.. sigh... I can do this.. I can do this...
Be safe all

03-24-2005, 11:09 PM
Oh, I almost forgot! Welcome Jessica and Soccergirl!
And good Luck Karen with the job!

03-24-2005, 11:39 PM
:comp: I've been on this thing for hours, watching ER now. I'm off to slumberland. :cloud9: GOOD NIGHT VIXENS

03-25-2005, 01:36 AM
Dina - Looks like the lunch didn't go too bad, perhaps it could have been better, okay, but it could sure also have been worse! :)

SoccerGirl - 2.5 lbs in 4 days is already pretty good! I don't know what the losing rate is depending on each's total weight, but to me it already sounds pretty good. These are anyway pounds lost, not gained, so all the better!

Karen - Hahaha, that's exactly that! Sometimes I have the feeling he doesn't even know himself why he's pulling, he just does it because I'm not fast enough for his pace or something. We've left him at my boyfriend's mother for the moment, as we won't be home and can't take him with us; it was too funny, at home he still tends to act the alpha-wannabe, but no sooner were we at here house that his brother (same litter) who lives there quickly set things back where they belong. Poor Vulcain was hiding under the car as a sign of total submission before this was all settled down, but after this they played all together, so it looks like he'll be having fun no matter what.

o2bskinny - Hehe. As long as the setbacks aren't in higher number than the successes, I guess that it's always time to be careful again

And with this, I'm off until Monday, so if I don't answer to anything, that's normal ;) I'll just need to stay focused on not eating too much nor bad things because "I'm on holidays", but we'll probably eat lots of fish, which is good, plus walking a lot, thus I'll somewhat "earn" my meals too  I may have Internet access if we can find a WiFi system on the road (hey, perhaps our hotel will be a modern one, for once, with an access for the customers), but probably not much time to check forums. Until then - have a good week-end everyone! :)

03-25-2005, 09:21 AM
Hey chickas!

Karen- Good luck with the job!! We do have those restaurants...along with Applebees, Burger King, McDonalds, Subway, Starbucks, TCBY, and all sorts of American restaurants. All the fatty places. UGH. Oh but we got a new restaurant here last week. Its a salad bar restaurant. How great is that??

Bon5000, thank you for reminding me about Easter. Being over here has totally made me forget about when exactly it was. I knew it was coming up soon. They have cadbury eggs at the store!!

Kim- thats great that you have someone to walk with! Good for you!

Lynn- TOM is comin soon. I am not looking forward to it. Im scared that I will want to overeat. I weighed myself today and Ive lost 2 lbs since Wednesday. Dont worry, weighing myself during the week doesnt discourage me. In actually motivates me. Hopefully thats enough to help me during my TOM.

Ok, Nic will be home from work soon. I have been drinking water all day and am running to the bathroom every minute. So, I need to take care of that. I will come back soon.

03-25-2005, 11:10 AM
I am obsessed with weighing myself and I think it's out of control.
This morning I weighed myself and I was at 210! Wednesday I was at 208.5. How did I gain weight when I haven't done anything wrong?? I've kept exercising and eating right and drinking water.

I'm very dissapointed. My official weigh in day is every Monday so I'm hoping I'm back to 208.5 or less on Monday. If I'm at 210, that's means I only lost 1 pound this whole week. (sigh)

03-25-2005, 11:33 AM
Good morning girls! Well, it's still morning here in Arizona anyway. Just checking in and then I'm off to catch up.

Soccer - Please don't feel discouraged...and try not to weigh so often. It's SO much easier if you just pick one time a week and stick to it. Hard to do, I know. I'm addicted to the scale myself. But you will keep your sanity and be able to stay with your plan. You are on the rigth track and doing great. The weight WILL come off!

03-25-2005, 11:47 AM
Good morning vixen's or should I say good afternoon?

I just planted some bulbs in pots that i'm keeping in my kitchen. This way when the weather starts to get warm << eyeroll>> they will have a head start.

I made a deal with myself today. I going to stay on program till the weight is gone. I may not be perfect, what is the definition of perfect anyway?? But I will be conscious of what I'm putting into my mouth. I have this great trip to hawaii planned and I lost one pound!! Come on now...
I have a complusive personalitiy and I believe I am addicted to food. When I think about it, I don't know why as when I feel sooo stuffed I feel sick, so how is that addiction? That is the worse feeling in my opinion. I suppose the eating part and the tast and texture is what I'm addicted to. Somehow eating fills a void that has been missing in my life. My family is filled with alcoholics and although I don't drink; I eat, I'm starting to think that is the same. But how do you stay away from food? OA has said abstinence is staying an eating plan, not necessarily a diet. I have to stop myself from binging.
The tools I'm using are journaling, this wonderful support group.
Have a great Friday~

03-25-2005, 12:09 PM
Happy Friday!! Today we are super busy at the zoo. Its Good Friday so everyone is out of school and seems like all are coming to the zoo. HaHa. Well i did pretty good yesterday, had a lean cuisine pizza at lunch, and subway for dinner. But man o man i wanted to eat a cookie, but instead I went and took a long bath, after that bath i was ready for bed. I woke up so late this morning, my boyfreind set the alarm but forgot to turn it up so i didnt even hear it. After having 5 minutes to get ready and feed my puppy, i made it on time, so i was glad. Workout last night was pretty intense, we ran around the building, oh man i was sweating up a storm. Well today i work out by myself, hopefully i can keep the same intensity that he gives me. Well to everyone, WE CAN DO IT, SO LETS DO IT!!

You're so lucky you work at a zoo! That would be a great place to take walks at lunch. That's one thing I wish about where I work is there was some place nice to walk at lunch. If I worked in the city (DC) I could go out during lunch and it would be lovely. The sidewalks in DC are very wide.

03-25-2005, 02:43 PM
Soccergirl, Have you seen the commercial ( I can't remember what it is for) where the man is on the scale and he runs around in a circle and weighs again hoping for a loss? Then he hits the scale cause of course he didn't lose? That is me.........I am a scale freak too. I am going to try to think of something so that I won't be on it all the time. It can really get you down if you do that.

Lynn, you can do it. I wish I understood the love affair with food. I really don't get it.

Good Going Jessica! I am rooting you on! We can do it!

Lynn, Great attitude...I pray for the weather to turn into SPRING for you up there. When does it usually start getting nice in NY?

Have a wonderful, light, happy day to you all!

03-25-2005, 06:11 PM
Hey girls...I went to the salad bar restaurant tonight. It was soooo good. They had all kinds of veggies on it. They didnt have dressings. Instead, they had balsamic vinegar, vinegar, lemon juice, and olive oil. I love that. It keeps the temptation down. I had the salad bar and a side of mashed potatoes. Im not sure how many points im at so I cant add it to my points for the day. Thats ok, it keeps me from being obssessed with it. Tomorrow is back to logging all my food though.
We went to a new bar they have here tonight. Its my husbands shift changeover right now. So, he doesnt have to be at work til tomorrow night. YAY! Anyway, I only had 3 Coronas. Im proud of myself!

Lynn- I totally understand the thing with food. It fills a void with me. Its my second love after Nic. :)

How is everyone??

Hi vixens!
The weather starts to change here around mid to end of march. WELL, this the first Easter I can remember with snow on the ground! The easter bunny shall be leaving paw prints in the snow.
It has been a quite day here. Jamie is out with friends and that is always a stressor. I worry about driving, the friends etc. Heather's sleep over went well but of course she is bored now.
I filled their easter baskets, not the same as when they were little. I put some candy but mostly bath and body works, gels, their fave perfumes, makeup etc. That adds up!! I bought Jamie a pair of sunglasses with a case to match. Heather some CD's of people I never heard of. Just look at the parental advisory.. and nope she isn't getting that one!
Aunt Flo made her appearance today on schedule. The first two days are wicked for me, heavy bleeding and I have no energy....I eat everything in site!

I wish everyone a safe evening..

03-27-2005, 12:32 PM
Happy Easter everyone! Looks like we are finally back in business on the new 3fc server! I just wanted to stop in and say I was thinking of everyone. Will stop back in and post more later! Have a great day all! ;)

03-27-2005, 02:18 PM
Hey chickas! I missed you all :)

The other night when we went out and i only drank 3 coronas. Its like 2 posts up. A friend of ours was REALLY drunk so we told another guy to take his keys. So, about 10 minutes after I wrote that post on here, we got a phone call. They were in an awful car wreck. So, we've been at the hospital the past few days. I went wayyyy off my diet. I've got to get back on track. Too much stress causes me to eat too much. UGH.

Anyway, how has everyone been??

03-27-2005, 03:10 PM
Hello Gals!

I'm back from being home for Spring Break. I had a blast, but went WAAAY off my diet. It starts back today though. I need to go get groceries today at some point. I am trying to finish my last minute homework that I've put off LOL! I just had to stop in and say hello.

Deanne- My thoughts and prayers are with your friend.

I'm suprised, it's not that hard to get motivated with my diet again. I'm almost looking forward to it. The reality hit this weekend when I was at home and drug out a pair of old "fat jeans" and they were too tight :( . That was very depressing. I've got to see that ticker move at the bottom of my posts! LOL - I am determined this time. OH - I picked up my ab machine. It is so HARD to do! I guess that's good though. I'm gonna use it along with my glider. By the way. . does anyone have one of those? It's like the Tony Little Gazelle, but it's an off brand. Does anyone use a Gazelle? I've had mine for years but I always give up before I can see if it will work. Thats another thing I have to work on. I'm SO impatient. If I dont see some sort of progress within a week then I am dissapointed and I quit. I know full well that no (decent) program will let you see major physical results in a week. . .I just have to convince the rest of me to believe that!

Here is my new ab machine

Here is my glider (the Tony Little version)

Hope you all had a great week!

03-27-2005, 03:14 PM
I think I am gonna push my weigh in back a week. I think after the binges this weekend that it will help a little. It will give me another week to get back into the swing of tihngs.

Amy, was your glider exspensive? Ive been thinking of getting one.

03-27-2005, 06:50 PM
No not much as far as exercise equipment goes. Like I said I have the off brand, called an XL Glider. Here it is in the link below: p&search=SQ&frames=y&referrer=QVC&txtDesc=XL+Glider&SearchClass=8565&Submit4=Go

Or at Wal Mart the have the Gazelle's cheaper, here they are. . .

Hope this can help. . bottom line the run the gammut from $100-$300 dollars.

Love, Amy

Hi gang,
I have to say I am dreading tomorrow. Tomorrow is my official weigh in day. Last Monday I was at 211, Wednesday I was 208.5 and today I was back at 211. >:(
If I'm still at 211 tomorrow I'm giong to be so dissapointed.

Hi all,

Well, I tried to post in this awesome group a few days ago and my comp wigged out, so not sure if it posted or not...

Easter weekend was all bad for me! :( I was doing SO well with the veggies and exercise, but as soon as I get a taste of chocolate, its all over! :( Have to get back into it tomorrow....going out to dinner with friends tonight to Chilis which is one of only a handful of American restaurants (originally from CA) we have here and I cant go there to just get a salad...
Anyway, not weighing in this week as Im basically scared...:(

Have to say thought that everytime I visit this site, I get so motivated and will probably have to check this site every morning before my walk!! :)

Ciao bellas (Hello beautiful ladies~in Italian)!

I have to admit I am feeling really plump today. My husband decided to cook a feast for Easter and then my Mom brought over green been casserole, not too mention all the chocolate! I feel really bad and I think I even gained a pound (according to my unofficial weigh-in). Ouch! Not feeling good about that. But since I was doing so good and in control before the food fest, I know what I need to do! Time to jump right back on. I do feel good about the fact that I have still been drinking tons of water--and haven't gone back to drinking soda like Moutain Dew (which is very bad!). So I have to think of the good things, right? And I did walk a lot this weekend (when I was shopping [ha ha]). But I was moving my bootie! Walking and shopping can wear a girl out in a good way. I was looking for a present for my Mother for Easter and for a a friend of mine (who happens to be having a birthday lunch tomorrow at a Mexican restaurant). That will be another challenge. The restaraunt has a good chicken salad--so I think I will plan ahead and order that. Good thinking!

I drove by an Arthur Murray dance studio this weekend and peeked in the window. It was closed at the time. I daydreamed for a few minutes about signing up for classes--still thinking about that idea. I think it would be fun. And wouldn't it be glamorous to get trim enough to put on one of those sexy dresses and dance in a dance competition. Now that is a big daydream fantasy! Ha. A girls gotta dream a little! Who knows, it could happen? My husband was all for lessons, but I think they are pricey and he is out of town a lot. But I will keep that in the back of mind to look into.

Welcome Britt! I have always wanted to visit Australia. My husbands best friend lives there~so maybe someday we will visit. That would be a real treat! What is really funny to me is that my husbands friend (who is from Italy like my husband) has an Australian accent and uses Australian slang--while my husband has the American influences in his English. It would be quite interesting for us to get together for a reunion. At one time all of us would go out and party when I lived in Italy and was just dating my husband. Anyway--it is great to have you here! What kind of plan are you following? Keep posting!

Amy--I have a gazelle. I have to admit I haven't used it for a while. I find I do more if I actually go to the YMCA then anything else. I get motivated being around others and don't feel as inclined to stop working out in the middle of a routine. I got the gazelle thinking I would do it while I watched TV or something. It is pretty easy to use and I liked it okay. They are pretty economical too.

Deanne--Sorry to hear about your friend. I hope that he is doing okay. I hope you are taking care of yourself in the mean time despite the stress. Hang in there!

Lynn--Sounds like you are my kind of Easter bunny! I love bath and body works. I was browsing in there this weekend. They have a new cherry blossom line--I had to pull myself out of the store. My kids are too young to appreciate it, and they always complain when I wander in the store and say I take too long. It's like adult candy for women (fat free!). Love it! In fact I got my friend some for her birthday--her favorite scent (sweet pea). I favor anything vanilla.

Soccergirl--Hang in there! I know how you feel with the weigh in this week. Just try to think positive about what you are going to do right this week! Jump back on the wagon! You CAN do it! I will jump back with you, okay?!

How about a week challenge to get back on track this week? Is anyone game? Sounds like we may need a little butt kicking challenge to get our heads back on straight and motivated after some detours with Easter bunnies and otherwise! We CAN do it!

03-28-2005, 12:37 AM
Hi everyone! It looks like everyone (including me) had a very festive Easter. I start my diet and walking tomorrow. I am really motivated. I am trying to figure out how to do some of it though. Tomorrow I start taking my dad for a Monday-Friday Chemo treatment. This will be his first one. I guess I can eat well before we go and eat a late lunch when I get back. Maybe take a snack. I do plan on walking though in the morning before I go get him. I will also take lots of water. I am determined. I just cannot go through another summer this heavy. I hope to see a little difference by June anyway.
Deanne, I am so sorry to hear about your friend. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Hang in there.
Well, I am off to bed. Gotta get some zzzzzz's so I can go walk!

03-28-2005, 09:13 AM
Wow, this is a busy thread. I had a wonderfully long weekend and barely even looked at my computer. I did pretty well this weekend except for Friday night when I went out for a drink and had some of that wonderful spinach and artichoke dip. I only had one very small piece of chocolate this weekend but I did splurge and have dessert with my daughter yesterday. I exercised a good bit and even went for a walk in the rain yesterday.
For some reason I am feeling a little down today, not sure why. I can tell I am losing weight and my body feels better but it just seems so slow. I am trying to keep my motivation up. I am hoping posting here will help.

Later girls,

03-28-2005, 09:23 AM
Missed all of you during the weekend. I'm addicted to these boards!
Deanne~~ I am so sorry about your friend and I hope all is well, please keep us posted.
Karen~~ great idea about the challenge!! Lets do it. Post a challenge and we will follow.
I'm going to post all of my food and points here. That will help me...
Britt~ welcome
amy~~ hiya... good luck with the glider..I am starting to exercise today as well. I'll be walking on the treadmill.
Soccer~~The scalw will go down again. Just keep up the weight loss efforts. I know it is fustrating.
kim~~good luck with your dad and his chemo treatments. I know this time is a stressful one. I went through a summer of being heavy also last year. My mother had a small stroke and I decided it was a liscense to eat. This summer there will be less of me...
I'm glad I didn't cook this year. I cook every holiday. It was nice to be a visitor this time. But I did eat too much. Dinner part was fine but the desserts always get to me. LOL. Plus we visited my family and my hubby's. Today I'm back on track!

03-28-2005, 09:29 AM
A funny story~
The other day it was warm here in NY and I started to garden. I pulled some old leaves and brush and bagged some debri. I relished the sun and found myself thinking about summer. I love the sun. We have a pool and I get very tan by the end of the summer. I thought to myself that I'm getting older and the sun effects aren't the best so I promised myself I'd do less sun time and go up on the spf of sunscreen. I went to walmart and bought a self tanner. SAlly hansen spray on ( I know they make nail stuff and they should stick to that) the label says 'spray on' and so I did. I started with my arms and went to the legs, when the phone rang. I picked it up it was my friend ML and we started chatting. Well an hour went by and I forgot to rub in the tanner and wash my hands!!!!! My arms are blotched and my hands are orange, I mean orange. Between my fingers are dark brown and it looks sooo funny and sooo bad.... Yesterday my husband said went happened to your hands, when I told him, he laughed hysterically and said "oh my" what an air head I am.. I can't believe I chatted that long and forgot I was putting self tanner on...
at least I keep my family laughing....

03-28-2005, 09:31 AM
hi beth~ dont feel down, it will come off... Keep posting

03-28-2005, 09:49 AM
Well good news this morning after all, I'm down to 207! Okay so I won't be hitting the probably too aggresive goal I set to be under 200 in two weeks because week one is gone and I only lost 4 pounds and it's not likely I'll lose 7 pounds by next Monday. But I'm feeling pretty good overall about the results of the week. Confused but happy. :D

We can ALL do this ladies!

03-28-2005, 11:36 AM
Well, i had a busy weekend, Kind of frustrating. I seem to do really good when i am home and with eating the right things, but when i am put in different situations i seem to stray from my regular diet. I dont know what to do. I know if i keep this up, i will not loose weight. I just dont know what to do. My first week i lost 2 pounds and i weighed myself this past saturday and i have not lost any weight. Please if you have any suggestion get back with me. :?:

03-28-2005, 11:48 AM
Hey Jess,
How long have you been on your diet?
Hmm, seeing as we talk on email all day, why did I not just email that question? :D

03-28-2005, 12:30 PM
Good morning girlies! WOW! I missed out on WAY too much over the weekend! Tons to catch up on~

As far as eating...well, I didn't do bad, but I didn't do good either. Only the scale will tell I suppose. WI is at 5:30 today and I am wearing my lucky "skinny" pants. I went over by 3 pts for the entire week, but I couldn't resist the mini cadbury eggs. Darn it!

Off to read up on all of the goings-on...I'll be back! :)

03-28-2005, 03:18 PM
Hey girls!!

Britt- Welcome to the forum!

Karen- That challenge idea sounds great!!

Kim- Hang in there! You'll see a difference by June.

Beth- I can understand that. I have really felt down the past few days. Im not sure if its Aunt Flo's appearance or stress from everything thats going on here. It has really brought my motivation down. I need to get back on track.

Lynn- I wish I could have spent Easter with my family. Im so jealous of you! Nic and i are trying to plan a trip home for about a month. How is everything else with you?

Soccergirl- Congrats on the 4lbs!!

Dina- I love cadbury eggs...cant resist them. I dont eat the chocolate(not a big fan of chocolate)...i just eat the middle of it :)

Ok so things are still weird around here. The 2 guys that were in the car wreck are doing ok. One is still in the hospital. They had to remove his spleen. He was the driver. It turns out, he wasnt even drunk. He had a few beers. The passenger was gone though. He was drunk before we even left the club. Anyway, someone cut them off and the passenger grabbed the wheel. Well, he is probably going to be fired. He had been warned about his drinking the day before. I am so mad at him. The driver has had 2 surgeries and a broken leg and punctured lung filled with blood. The guy that grabbed the steering wheel barely had anything wrong with him!
Enough about diet. Ok, diet is not good right now. I have really realized how much of a stress eater I am this past week. I need to get on here more. Y'all motivate me so much!!
Im getting a hedgehog tomorrow. YAY! Its going to be like a wild kingdom over here! I love it.
Other than that, not much is going on. I need to concentrate on my diet more! How is everyone else doing?

03-28-2005, 03:43 PM
Deanne - I feel for you girlie. Another stress eater here, and with TOM the month...I'm through! I'm so sorry to hear about your friends wreck! How awful! My thoughts are with you.

Soccergirl - Way to go! That's awesome! Good job!

Jessica - Hang in there girl! As long as the scale is moving downward you are heading in the right direction. Sometimes if I know I am going to be away from my normal schedule, I will try to bring along healthy snacks and a water bottle. It really helps me alot. Are you adding any exercise? i find even just a good brisk walk helps me when I am stuck. Fresh air can do wonders.

I'm up for a challenge. Bring it on!

03-28-2005, 03:44 PM
Yea, i work out at least 4 times a week. I think i may take a walk in a minute just to get away from work stress.

03-28-2005, 07:54 PM
Hi! I'd like to introduce myself. I am 36, married for 13 years and have 4 children -- 3dds 11, 8, 3 and a ds who is 18 months. I was skinny (though ironically enough I was convinced that I was 'fat') until I became pregnant with my first dd. I gained 60lbs and was able to lose 55lbs. I gained 55lbs with 2nd dd and lost none of it. So here I am! I want to lose 30 lbs. It is so very hard though. I find that I am an emotional eater.... I eat when I am bored, stressed, worried, sad, basically you name it! I really need help learning, or should I say relearning, how to eat. I am so attracted to high fat foods. I need to learn to cook healthy but tasty meals. I need support! ;)
I like to work out, but with the two little ones sometimes I can go weeks without going to the gym. Wow, I am coming off so whiney! I think it is half pms (count me in that club too!) and half all the Easter chocolate I have been eating. Well, as you can see I am really excited to get to know all of you, and I feel that this will help me stay focused on my goal, and less focused on what I am not eating. (

hello vixens...
welcome BACKTOME..

UPDATE ON MY DAUGHTER~ Jamie met the guy she's been chatting with online. He goes to the same university as she does and he found her on their network, but they haven't met till today. She was nervous!! She called said he was very cute and they chatted for hours. They both had classes then they went to dinner. I'm so happy for her as she had a bad breakup with her boyfriend of two years few weeks ago. She was and still is a mess. I know a rebound thing isn't good, but I hope it takes her out of this funk...
I"m eating easter candy as i'm typing this.. what a loser!!!
tomorrow I will eat less pts... yikes...
deanne good luck with your friend, I hope he has a speedy recovery..

03-29-2005, 02:24 AM
Hey Vixens!

I logged on this morning and something was all funky with the boards again. I was in withdrawal because I couldn't post! I checked periodically, and FINALLY we are back in business! Thank goodness, cuz I need my support friends!

So how bout that challenge? I really need it--after another birthday for my gal pal at work and my kids easter candy (I think its about gone now). Boy oh boy, somebody slap me silly! Good news, I went to my aerobics class tonight and felt really energetic. I just need to get totally back without candy and birthday treats! So here goes--for the challenge. How about from now (the time you read this) until Sunday a serious butt kicking challenge. We can start small (baby steps) and then see where we are at for next week. Sound good?

Here goes with the Vixen challenge to get with the program!!!! :strong:

1) Drink at least 8 glasses of water every day.
2) Eat healthy meals and stay within your own plan the entire 5 days.
3) Incorporate more movement in your week then usual (add an extra workout day, or take a brisk walk if you are completey sedentary at this point--whatever you choose, so long as you increase where you were the previous week).
4) Log on and post your thoughts each day
5) Extra credit to get our minds in the right place--share a health tip, healthy recipe, inspirational quote, or something you find helpful to share with the group of your choice sometime in the next couple days (just an idea, I thought it may be fun and maybe motivational at the same time).

What do you all think? Please feel free to add anything you think will be helpful.

That's all for now, I have to get to bed! I will catch up on posts tomorrow!

Happy Tuesday y'all! :spin:

03-29-2005, 02:48 AM
Ok, I am going to join you in this Curvy Vixen Challenge! I wish I still had a pedometer so I knew when I walked more, but oh well! Almost anything would be a step up from last week. I was SO FARRRRRRRR OFF PLAN! It didn't make any sense how far off plan I was, thank God, I did not gain any weight, but I also didn't lose any either. I'll post tomorrow saying what I did...but since I finally got back to really working out today, I must say that I did 25 minutes on weights and 40 minutes on cardio! Have a good night ladies!

03-29-2005, 04:55 AM
Back into business, Vixens! ;) Although I'm back since yesterday evening, but hadn't posted anything - too tired, and too much to catch up on.

To those who joined while I was away - Welcome in! :)

Karen - This challenge thingy looks good to me, plus I had anyway planned to go back on "strict" meal plan for this week, so it won't take much more to get me in the right mindset. It will feel good, after Easter... not really a good period for resolves, after all.

Now to fess up... The good thing is that I didn't take any weight back on, and probably lost some 200-300g during the week-end. I was soooo very afraid of what the scales would "tell" me this morning, because of the bad thing itself: during these holidays, I realized that I'm not ready yet to go on with my own meals while everyone else around me is gorging on "bad" foods... I stayed on plan until Friday evening, but then the next three days, it was just too hard :( They were all eating French fries, crepes with sugar and chocolate, delicious-looking desserts, stuff like that.... All of us here probably know what a torture it can be ::sigh:: We walked *a lot*, though, which is probably what saved me - hiking on sea grounds while knowing that the tide is rising again and we need to go fast is a good and fun exercise, and you can easily perform a good 4-5 miles walk this way without even realize it (my pedomteter did, though, hence how I know  )

At least I managed to not touch the fries, not even one "to taste it", but the chocolate crepes were a whole other story. I however want to keep the memory of how it wasn't such a great thing to give in to the cravings; the chocolate and ice-creams weren't that a relief once I was done with them, just too sugary, too heavy, too much... whatever. If I can keep this in mind for the next time such cravings come back, and if it can make me realize that I won't even enjoy it, I may be way less tempted.

For the upcoming days, I'll try to find some recipe to share; I'm a very poor cook with no originality whatsoever, but I can probably shape one of my own little meals into something that will look yummy?

03-29-2005, 05:55 AM
hey chicks!
Today is a new day...started with a good breakfast. I'm working on the challenge. Sounds good to me. I need the motivation.
Im hoping after the last week, today can be my start of a better week. Im going to skip my weigh in tomorrow. I dont want to be disappointed. So, it will be pushed back until next Wednesday. Do y'all think thats ok?
Ok, the hedgehog is good. Hes scared still. So, I keep him in my lap so he can get used to me.
Other than that, nothing is new. Ill post later.

03-29-2005, 05:55 AM
Came home today from our 9 days Easter vacation, and very surprised and pleased to see soooo many have joined. Tried to read as much as possible, still some ways to go!!!
As I sort of expected, I gained back the 3 pounds I've lost before the trip, so back to square 1. It was just impossible to stay on a diet while on vacation, and altho' there was even a gym at the hotels where we stayed, I just couldn't get myself motivated enough.
I could find all the excuses, such as I forgot my exercise outfits, etc. Well actually I went to the gym for a look, see and then I saw all those body builders, and "cat walk model-figured girls", and decided it was after all vacation time for me, not a time to feel clumsy, and fat beside all those "gorgeous looking creatures".

Nice to meet all who have joined us while I was on vacation, good luck to everyone, and I'm positive we can all help each other to achieve our goals.

Karen~~I've lived in Denmark for 12 years. Do you speak italian? I learned to speak danish within a year, the hardest was pronounciation, since they have 4 additional vowels which are virtually impossible for foreigners to pronounce. I'm glad I have learned the language, because I can actually understand swedish and norwegian as well. Writing is still a challenge for me.
Good choice on the Birkies, very good for the feet! If you are not use to them, you may get a little ache or fatigue feeling in your feet in the beginning.
Have you started with your dancing lessons?

Deanne~~Oh yes, I do SOOOO want to eat when I'm bored, that is how I piled up all these weight. Do you like living in the middle east? I can see that you live near the base, and I guess in an area where foreigners live. Do you ever go where the locals live, is it safe? When you will finally get a job, will it be at the base?
Is WW online as good as their regular program?

Lynn~~Being a nurse yourself, I see that you can understand my fear of joining the work force here in Denmark. Actually it isn't as bad as in the States where one can be sued for almost anything.
I tried those liquid diet myself, and I find it impossible. I just need to chew!
Wouldn't it be very hot in Hawaii in July? Have you been there before? I'm sure you'll have a great time.

For me, back to calorie counting and try to start exercising- this is gonna be tough!

03-29-2005, 08:52 AM
Hi vixens,

Not sure how Im going to keep up with all the posting! Whew! I just logged on and dont know where to start! :)

Thanks to all of you who welcomed me....purple, not sure if it was you who mentioned wanting to visit Australia?? I would recommend it to ANYONE! I completely love it here and cant imagine moving back to the states, even if it is my home at heart...:)

Well, didnt weigh in today...probably wont until next week. I just cant get myself back into it. I do SO good at work and then once I get home, all I want to do it sit in front of the tv and eat for the hour I have at home before all my nightly activity...<sigh> its an issue I think...a mindest I need to get out of quickly!!

Other than that, am butting into the Vixen Challenge...I think I can do it! I already drink 3 litres of water a day, but can certainly step up in the exercise department...count me in!

Elyn, have a couple of friends in Denmark and would LOVE to visit!! Whats the best time of the year to go?

Ok, well, off to bed with me....have to get up early to WALK (ugh!).

Love to you all! :)

03-29-2005, 10:12 AM
Hey chickas...its 5pm here...early your time. My eating is back on track...FINALLY!! I took a muscle relaxer last night for my back. It made me sleep for 15 hours! I wont be able to sleep tonight im sure. At least I stayed on the diet. That is the main thing I need to concentrate on right now I think.

Elyn- I love living in the Middle East. My husband and I both grew up over here. We do live near the base in a compound. My husbands cooworkers live here and the rest of the people are Westerners. The locals are all around us. We think its safe. Nothing has ever happened to us. The guys are like dogs in heat so I dont go out walking by myself. They're used to seeing women covered. When I do get a job, it will most likely be on the base. Thats where the money is. Anyway, Im not sure if WW online is as good as the other program or not. I like it alot though.

Britt- Im skipping weigh in this week too. Im too scared to get on that scale. Oh, I used to live in New Castle, Australia. Loved it!

Ill post later...

03-29-2005, 10:25 AM
Good morning all! Finally a decent day in the Nations Capital. Yesterday was icky and rainy so I couldn't go for a walk. I hate feeling lazy!

So here is my dilema of the day, last night I found out I weigh more than my boyfriend. UGH-What an awful, awful feeling!

So now today I have all these negative vibes and I'm not feeling so great.

The other thing is, I just don't see any changes when I look at myself in the mirror. Even though I've lost 27 pounds, I still look the exact same as I did 27 pounds ago. And no one has noticed at all either! I saw some friends I haven't seen since December this weekend and they didn't notice. The only person who has said something is my best friend who knows I'm dieting and I think she just said it to be encouraging. I'm not sure she see's a real difference either.

Now I'm not giving up. I'm going to keep working hard. I just wish I saw results by now. I've been dieting for 71 days and want to look different for crying out loud!

03-29-2005, 11:23 AM
Hey Soccer! Your signature says "small victories matter too"...this is so true!! You know, some people notice weight loss in their friends but dont want to say anything. I know this sounds stupid but heres an example. Theres a girl that I know here and I only see her every once in a while. The other night I saw her and noticed that she had lost weight. I was scared to say anything because I was scared of implying that I thought she was fat before. Which is not true. After she left, I told my husband that she looked like she had lost weight. He agreed. So, i dont know if this will help or not. Did you take a picture before you lost your weight? If so, take a picture of yourself now. You can compare them. I promise you'll see some changes. The main part that Ive noticed a change in is my neck. Ok, good luck!

03-29-2005, 12:26 PM
Good morning Vixens! (For some reason I always think of Charlie's Angels when I read or type that...silly, I know.)

Well, after a challenging Easter week and a killer period, I walked away from WI down 1 pound. Not alot, but hey, it's a loss and I'll take it!

I'm printing out the challenge post right now so I can check them off as I go everyday. I'm really pumped about it! Although, I must admit I didn't see it until this morning when I logged in and last night I ate the last of the Easter M&M's. A good 10 pts. worth too! Darn it! Oh well, atleast they are gone for good now right!?!

03-29-2005, 12:27 PM
This week is moving slowly but at least it is moving. I would love to do the challenge. It gives me something to work for. Deanne, you have a hedgehog? is it nice? i just have a little puppy and he drives me crazy at times.
Well yesterday me and my trainer ran around some building and last week i did it in 1:30 and this week i did it in 1:20, 10 seconds faster. I was so excited. I've noticed its getting easier for me to work out, i think i need to step it up a little and challenge myself a little more. Since I havent lost anything in 2 weeks i am really watching myself this week that way i can get back on track and start loosing again. I figured out by talking to soccer i need to count my calories and i have kind of made myself a eating schedule so i am not eating at night. So I think i got things all in order, now just to do, i am doing good so far, just gotta keep it going. Well talk to you all later.

03-29-2005, 12:31 PM
Wow! Hello everyone! And a big hello to all the newbies! And Welcome!
Well, my dad started chemo yesterday and we were there ALL day. My brother took him today, so I will probably take him tomorrow. They couldn't get his porto-cath to work so it took extra time to give him a blood thinner to open it back up so they could give him the miedication. Anyway, I forced myself to eat a good, no carb breakfast. I didn't get lunch till 2 but I was actually ok. I usually strat shaking if it has been too long but apparently the breakfast I had helped. I had to choke it down though. I am not a first thing in the morning eater. But I did it.
Oh, and I also walked! I walked again this morning. It is killing me. My breathing is ok, which is what I was worried about. BUT MY LEGS! I have to tell my friend to slow down for a minute and let me stretch more. I am so out of shape!!!!! I stretched before I walked, but it still hurt so bad. What a whimp I am!!!!
I am drinking lots of water too. I am a diet coke nut. but I managed not to even have one of those yesterday. I am very motivated so PLEASE count me in on the challenge! I am ready to lose all this weight!!!
DON"T GIVE UP!!! You are so worth it!!!!!!!!!

03-29-2005, 12:33 PM
Ok, I didn't proof my post. I am not really that bad of a speller! 8-)
Just tired from my walk!!

Hi ladies~

Don't have long because I need to run to the dentist and get a crown put on a tooth. Oh what fun that will be--NOT! But a girls gotta do, what a girls gotta do!

Just thought I would chime in on Deanne's note to Soccergirl. I agree! I think often people think about the way people look without actually saying it. Just ask yourself how often you have done the same thing with other people (made a mental note but didn't even whisper what you noticed). And then as Deanne said, think of the differences in yourself. I have to admit, I notice it in my underwear first. Not such a bad thing! Some people may even think you look good, but just aren't sure why (men will think~geez did she cut her hair? I just don't know!) It's true. Bottom line--you are doing great and as your signature line says "SMALL VICTORIES MATTER TOO"! So true! Chin up girly! :-)

Hey Kim, sorry to hear about your dad. My family has been struck with cancer many times, so many times its hard to keep count so i know what your going through, just stay strong. But it sounds like you are doing a wonderful job, you are a very strong person, to be able to deal with that and trying to stick with your diet. I respect you for that. Well We are all here for you for anything you need.

03-29-2005, 12:36 PM

Just wanted to say HOORAY for you and your walking today! Yippee! Good work girlfriend! You did it! Keep it up! Sounds like you are right in line with the challenge!

Okay--off to the dentist for back later with pretty teeth! :D

03-29-2005, 01:15 PM
Thank you Karen and Jessica! My dad is an incredible man. He is 70 and has had heart problems, back problems, etc. His attitude is awesome. I hope it stays that way. That helps he and I both so much. He and my mom are part of the reason I want to lose weight. My mother is in such bad health. She is 68. She can barely walk. I am built just like her and I know that I will end up that way too. I want to travel and be SUPER active when I am her age! Not stuck at home on oxygen and hurting so bad I can't walk. I gotta start working on it now! Wohoo! A new me!!!!!!!!!

03-29-2005, 02:22 PM
Hi vixens!

Dina- Congrats on your loss!! Yay!

Jessica- Yes, a guy that works with my husband found the hedgehog. Hes so sweet! Our cat is having a fit over him though.

Kim- You motivate me! Even though you are going through a tough time, you are able to stay on your diet. You are so amazing! Thank you :) Oh, by the way, the guy that got into the car wreck. His great grandfather was Ross Barnett. Sound familiar?

Karen- How you doin chick?

Hows everyone else?

03-29-2005, 03:39 PM
Deanne, Are we talking like former governor Ross Barnett? Sounds very familiar. Is this the friend that drove? Or the passenger? WOW! And thanks for your kind words! I am sitting here right now eating lunch.......Tuna w/very little LIGHT mayo. and tomatoes and cucumbers with balsamic vinaigrette. NOT BAD! And of course, water. I hate water. I can't wait till I can get my veggie garden in. I didn't do one last year and I really missed it. Tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, YUM! I love summer home grown veggies!!! Did I say I hate water? BUT I am drinking it. They say if you drink it all the time, you develope a 'taste' for it. No diet cokes in 2 days. I am saving those for when I can not stand the water any more. I am always thirsty when that is all I drink anyway. I am doing great! Feel great, just a little sore in the legs.
Oh Dina, Remember, every single pound counts!!!! YEA!!!!!!!!

03-29-2005, 03:51 PM
Hi my name is Kimberlyn. I would really like to join your group. I read it all the time. You all sound very nice. I am married for 5 years. Unable to have children so I have a very adorable dog named Titan. He is my life (along with my husband). ANyway I have always been on the chubby side. my goal is 165 it is a tough goal but I know I can do it. I hope to make lots of friends here. It is always nice to have support. Will check back later. :D

Did not get to exercise today, caloric intake about 1600cals., so I did not do very well today. I believe I need to be on a daily 1200 lose. Well, I'll try to do better tomorrow.

Britt~~the best time to visit Denmark is from May-August. I would also LOVE to visit Australia, it is the only continent - (besides Antartica) I've never been to. Our crown prince married an australian commoner, maybe you've heard about it. What do your friends do in Denmark?

Kim~~so sorry to hear about your Dad, hope the chemo will help him.

SoccerGirl~~Every single pound counts, and if it is any consolation - I don't remember ever dating a boy with thighs thinner than mine!

Kimberlyn~~welcome, what breed is your dog? I can SO relate with you, my husband and our dog is my life and family.

It is almost 11:00P.M. in Denmark, goodnight everyone.

03-29-2005, 05:47 PM
Hi Kimberlyn! Welcome! I have only been here a week or so, and it is great! Have you got a diet/exercise program that you follow? If so, how long have you been on it? I see that you have lost 4 pounds! That is great! I try to compare my losses to a pound of ground beef. It may not seem like much until you think of it as 4 pounds of ground beef! That is alot really! My friend always says when she loses a pound that "it's 4 sticks of butter!". It is easier when you actually visualize something that weighs that much. It is for me anyway.
Elyn, I talked to my mother a little while ago and my dad's treatment went great today too! He said he feels so good he can take himself for a while. I told him to call me if he got sick and I would come pick him up. He feels good so far! YEA!
Still doing good today!

03-29-2005, 06:01 PM
Hello again,

Congratulations to everyone who is sticking to it! I know how hard it is, and every pound lost is something to be very proud of.

I worked out today. I did 20 minutes on the stairstepper, and 20 minutes of weights. I really enjoyed it. It has been about 2 weeks since I've been. Unfortunatly I blew it with my food choices today.....cheddar popcorn and still more Easter candy :(

Does anyone else have issues with compulsive eating? I wasn't even hungry yet I ate a whole bag of microwave popcorn and some candy. Does anyone have advice on how to stop sabotaging myself? I really need it!

03-29-2005, 06:02 PM
Hello everyone! My word, I have not logged on since Friday and I was shocked by the number of pages there were. You've all been quite busy. Well, I was not very good over the weekend. I spent the weekend at my parents, very last minute, and ate what they had. Funny, everything I ate, no matter what it was, didn't take great. I decided that if I'm going to use calories for something non-clean, it better be good. So, I had a crap filled weekend food wise and by Sunday night, I thought I was going to have to call an ambulance. There is a lesson here.

Anyway, back on track. Meeting with the Fitness Director at my Y tonight to do my bodyfat percentage. Trying to determine whether i need to change my weight training program, the one I did is super intensive and i like it, but it takes forever to get through, so I usually don't have time to do it. My sister has done BFL and is doing something else now, she's Miss Fitness in the family and she hates my program, so wrestling with the right thing to do.

The program I have is supposed to be super effective (when you do it). I'm so confused right now. Measurement day is in three weeks and I want some positive changes. We'll see.

03-29-2005, 06:06 PM
backtome - on the compulsive eating issue, here's what helps me usually. try to figure out why I want to eat, am I really hungry? Change what I'm eating, instead of eating the cheese popcorn, what about 94% ff popcorn? Drink water, sometimes, that's all it takes or find something else to do.

I know it's a struggle and the triumph is getting through another day a winner. And remember to not beat yourself up, the fact that you worked out is better than most.

You're not alone and I hope that helps.

03-29-2005, 11:29 PM
hello vixens..
i'm in for the challenge.. i'm too tired to write.. but wanted to say hi!!
no exercise for today
pts were 27
good night vixens..

03-30-2005, 12:45 AM
Hey chickas...whats goin on?

Kim- Oh yes, we're talking about Ross Barnett the former governer. Scotty was the one driving. Hes doing pretty good. Nic is taking him some gatorade today. They're only giving him orange juice. Which, considering he had surgery is not so good. Kinda like drinking Orange Juice when you have a sore in your mouth. Hes still not allowed to eat though. Poor guy. He didnt want to tell the company that the passenger grabbed the wheel. He didnt want him to get fired. So sweet.

Klengkeek- Welcome to our little thread! What sort of diet are you on? What kind of dog do you have?

Curvychick- Im glad you're doing so well! :)

Backtome- Someone else on here suggested drinking some chicken broth when you get cravings. I tried it and it works very well. Maybe this could keep you from the compulsive eating?

Txlawchick- Thats so great that you're doing weight training!

Lynn- Hey girl! You poor thing...usually you write alot! You must be exhausted then :)

Ok, things are good here. I woke up at 6am to try to get back on a regular sleep pattern. I did have to down a sugar free Red Bull though. Might even have to drink another one. Nic is irritating the crap out of me. Im finished with my TOM. I thought maybe that was why he was getting on my nerves. Hes totally obssessed with his job. Im being a baby because of it :)
Anyway, hopefully I can make it through the day. He has to go to work at 7pm...thats 12hours from now. Its one of those days when I just want him out of here! I love him but want time for myself.
Ok, Ill try to get back on later. Our roommate was on the internet for 8 hours last night. What in the world do you do on the internet for 8 HOURS??? Nevermind, I dont think I want to know. Yuck.

Ill be back later. Dont miss me too much :)

03-30-2005, 01:20 AM
Deanne, I assume your friend is from Mississippi too? Tell him a fellow Mississippian is pulling for him.....hang in there. And why in the world are they giving him Orange juice?? Hurts me to think about it! I finally finished my TOM too. Hey, we're period pals! HAHA! I told you!

Lynn, get some rest and start over tomorrow!

backtome, heavens yes, I have problems with compulsive eating. Everyone said to me to get the bad stuff out of the house. Although compulsive eating can make even good foods a monster. Another thing I tried before and it did help........go brush your makes your mouth feel fresh and everything else taste lousy! You are exercising and that is awesome! Keep it up!
We can do it! yes we can, if chubby vixens can't NOBODY CAN!!! :cheer:

03-30-2005, 01:40 AM
Haha...I think everyone in this thread has their TOM at the same time or close to it. We're some b****y chicks all at the same time! Scary.
Yes, Scotty's mom is from Crystal Springs. His middle name is Barnett. I didnt know that until I went to see him at the hospital.
So, how was your day?

03-30-2005, 01:41 AM
Oh, I meant curvy vixens.....but you too Deanne! Oops

03-30-2005, 02:26 AM
Hi Curvy Vixens, :bubbles:

It was such a pretty day here--I love the Spring. Although someone was saying that we may still have snow in the forecast! I hope that was a joke! I took my dogs for a walk this evening (they actually walked me). The blossoms are starting to peek out their heads and I love it. I wish it would stay like this all year--perfect for being outside and not too hot. Anyhoo--I have a bit of a headache tonight and I think it may be because I feel hungry but don't want to eat too many points (I tracked them today and am at the quota). I thought it would be a good idea to track my points for the 5 day challenge--so I can be honest with myself about what I am eating. I am glad I stuck with it, but don't feel the greatest because of my throbbing head. Maybe its the detox of the sugar and all that candy over Easter. Could be!

I did something really cool and exciting! I signed me and my husband up for intro classes at an Arthur Murray dance studio. We will be doing 2 thirty minute intro sessions starting next Saturday (April 9th). It should be a new and exciting experience. I never dreamed I would be doing something like this. My husband has always loved to dance--but I just never thought we would take dance lessons. But after being inspired by the movie "Shall We Dance" and having a conversation with my husband about it--we discovered it is something we would both like to try. I am excited. I will keep you posted as to how it turns out!

I am going to catch some ZZZ's now and try to sleep off this headache! Sweet dreams!

PS....I tried some caramel apple popcorn that Jiffy Pop has that is low fat--and pretty tasty! If you eat an entire popped bag it is 5 points--but I usually only eat about half and feel satisfied. Anyway, it was really good and something different. Thought I would mention that!

03-30-2005, 02:55 AM
'Morning everyone! :)

Kimberlyn - Welcome here! It may seem a lot to catch up on, as the posts are... err, well, posted at quite a fast pace depending on the days, but doesn't matter - it's a good group to be in :)

Backtome - Not sure if this can work, but what I do for this kind of eating is get the unhealthy foods out of the house (including throwing out chocolate gifts, or most of it at least, when nobody's looking, friends and family don't need to know after all) and try to do something else when the need to eat strikes: playing with the dog, brushing teeth, whatever... It may not be easy if you have children or other people in your family who'll wonder where the heck all the chocolate stash is, but for this kind of things, I sincerely believe that at times, we need to be a little selfish and make other people understand that keeping too much of this food around hurts us :(

Txlawchic - Ditto on the "it better be good" part. For certain foods, there just isn't the same pleasure as before anymore. Probably it's a good thing though... if the human body was conceived to live off Easter chocolates, greasy popcorn and burgers overload with calories, I suppose we'd know it by now ;)

03-30-2005, 03:44 AM
Hey gals,

Elyn - "maybe Ive heard about it"??? Believe me, Princess Mary is a bit of a celebrity over here! They were over here for a tour a few weeks ago and it was all over the news! :) The only continent you havent been to? Im jealous! And here I thought I was "cultured" for living here and visiting New Zealand! haha...

Anyway, today was ok...havent walked thinking about starting to walk during my lunch at work??

03-30-2005, 10:38 AM
Good morning! :flow2:

Thankfully I woke up head-ache free! I just needed some much needed rest.

Britt~I think that is a good idea with the walk at work. I am going to start doing that as well. I don't move around enough at work sitting on my duff behind a PC. So I need it!

Kery~How is everything? I meant to ask you a while back, as a graphic artist what kind of things do you work on? I have worked on technical publications for a long time, and have often worked with some really talented graphic artists/illustrators. I am always amazed at the abilities to create drawings (I can barely draw a stick figure!).

Deanne~I drink that sugar-free Red Bull occassionally. Boy, that stuff gets me pumped up. Now I understand why so many celebrities are hooked. It is truly an energy drink! How is your day going? Is Nic still irritating you today? I know that can happen sometimes when you are married! Imagine that!

txlawchic~Great tips with the compulsive eating! I also chew sugar free minty gum. That helps me sometimes.

Kim~Visualizing 4 sticks of butter per pound is a good motivator. Just think of all that fat that is dropping off your bootie. Although, my problem area is my stomach--I am one of those rare apple figures. Any other apples here?

Lynn~Good job staying within the points. How are you doing today?

backtome~Great job with the exercise--and to hear you enjoyed it! That is half the battle. I think we all have to find a way to enjoy it some how. That is why it is so easy to quit being active because it often seems like work. I am trying to find ways to be active and truly enjoy it (hence the dancing, water aerobics, and roller skating I enjoy). I just want to enjoy it like when I was kid who went outside to play. I used to ride my bike for hours on end and not feel a bit sore. I want to feel like that again. I have lots of work to do, but it CAN be done! Right!?!

skimpyeleyn~Hi there! How are you doing today? How is the weather in Denmark? We have quite the cultured group don't we? France, Australia, Iraq, Denmark, and of coarse the various locations in the US. I love it! Now if I could just come visit you all in person--wouldn't that be cool! Well, I guess this virtual meeting will have to suffice. But I love to hear about where you live.

Curvychick~Yeah on the 6 pound loss! Yipee! You are doing great! :bravo:

Hope everyone is having a great morning! :coffee:
Ciao bellas!

03-30-2005, 12:18 PM
Great Job to everyone sticking to thier programs. I feel great today. Its a gorgeous day here in fort worth. Sunny and around 75. I cant wait to get out and walk around. Well hope everyone is having a good day. Bye Bye for now.

03-30-2005, 01:03 PM
Jessica~I know what you mean about the is beautiful here today in Ohio as well. I just got back from a walk and feel pretty darn good.

I hope everyone is feeling good today and on staying on plan!

03-30-2005, 02:55 PM
Hello girls! It's a beautiful day here in Arizona. It's a bit on the chilly side, but nice. We are hoping lay sod in our yard over the weekend, so I am hoping the sun decides to stick around.

I had a bad eating day yesterday, but I logged every point of it and still have a few flexxies left to get me through the week. I just feel guilty, I guess. I was full and just kept on going. YUCK! I hate that feeling.

I'm off to catch up...

03-30-2005, 03:04 PM
Karen - Unfortunately, for the moment, I haven't had the opportunity to work on really "great" things. I got out of school less than 2 years ago only, and so far I've been working for a small company developing software. Mainly I was in charge of the documentations, marketing documents, posters, kakemono etc. Right now, though, I'm looking for another job, even if it'll probably mean having to live in another town during the whole week to perform said job. The current one is just too limited, they don't have the needs of an advertisement agency, for instance, or of a big company, plus they're going too much into a policy of "we want to simplify our documents the most possible", which means I can't develop into further projects, as it'd go against this (I mean "simplify" as in "with the techniques involved"; as much as I like their new web interface that allows neat and fast editing/translations, it doesn't leave me much graphic/design work to do, and the rest of the work is just not enough anymore for me).

Apart from this, things aren't bad, much to do and to think about regarding the house, the job thing and various aspects of the great real life out there, but we've survived until now, so we can likely survive to these too :D

03-30-2005, 03:47 PM
Hi everyone I'm Kim. The other Kim's neighbor. LOL i know confusing, but we'll manage to sort it all out I'm sure. I started the South Beach diet on Monday. So far I've dropped 2lbs, not sure if it's water weight or what, but it was gone this morning when i weighed and I'm not gonna argue. I do have a question or two if anyone in this group is on South beach. I'm not sure on portions of certain things and I cant really find that information on the books Kim lent to me.
We're going on walks every morning and I'm thinking of joining a local gym. My husband (stick man as I so fondly call him) wants to work out so I'll use this as my excuse to sign up. No, this isn't going to affect my walks, I plan to take a class or so in the early afternoon. I'm bad with motivation so maybe having a set class to go to will help out.
I'm a stay at home mom of 4 girls. They keep me busy, but obviously not busy enough to keep the weight off lol.

03-30-2005, 03:56 PM
Good afternoon vixen's... it is almost 3pm here in cloudy but warm upstate NY
I bought some pansies and I'm going to plant them when I get off the computer.
Deanne~~ Hedgehog!!?? how cute! a boy or a girl? What is it's name?
A curvy chick reunion?? how kewl?????? I'm in LOL

03-30-2005, 04:08 PM
Hey chicks! I'm sitting here just catching the end of Bridget Jones 2...its so funny! The cat will not leave the hedgehog alone. She knocked his cage over and he rolled up in a ball. Well, she took this as he wanted to play. So, she started playing "soccer" with him. Poor thing.

The new KIM- Hey girl! You're in Hernando too, right? I'm from Jackson and my husband is from Biloxi. Welcome to the thread! I'll call you GoddessKim from now on, is that ok? How do you like SB so far?

Karen- That is so awesome that you and your husband are going to do dance lessons! What a great way to get moving. By the way, Nic is no longer irritating me. I was very touchy this morning. I went to bed late and woke up early. I tried to go to sleep tonight but cant for some reason. Now that Nics at work, I miss him. UGH. How is everything with you?

Lynn- You just posted while I was reading everything! How are you? Im not sure what the hedgehog is yet. Hes still a little skiddish around us. I dont want to violate him just yet. Oh and his name is Brillopad...Brillo for short.

Dina- I always feel guilty when I go over points...even if Im using the Flex points. Hmm...not sure why.

Ok girls, Im going to go write a few emails now. Ill check back soon.

03-30-2005, 04:20 PM
Deanne, Yes I'm in Hernando, but I'm not from this area originally. My hubby was in the Army and when he got out we ended up here. I like the small town life. It's quiet and the people are friendly. I grew up in NW IN right outside of Chicago so it's really different here. So far South beach is going well. I hardly miss the sugar to be honest although I did get a **** of a headache yesterday and I'm thinking it was sugar withdrawal. I tried weight watchers last year and I had ok results, but it was expensive and I just couldn't justify 200 for 15lbs lol. Where are you and your hubby stationed at? We lived a little of everywhere while we were military. The only down side was that he was gone ALL THE TIME. 280 days in the field and he was on the initial deployment to Bosnia so he was gone for a year there. Basically I was a single mom I just wasn't allowed to date lol
And yes, feel free to call me anything you like.. around here I usually answer to "hey you" lol

03-30-2005, 04:28 PM
GoddessKim- Wow that was a quick reply! Nic and I are in Doha, Qatar. Hes not in the Military anymore. Actually, he got out of the Marines a year before we met. He came home from Iraq and got straight out. I couldnt imagine being away from him for 280 days!! My Dad was in the Navy and I remember how hard that was for my Mom. Nic works on the Army base here. He is basically an MP but civilian. Its with a government contracting company. WW online isnt too expensive. Its $65 for 3 months. I think I will order the calculator from Ebay so I can take it to restaurants. Then, there will be NO excuse to overeat. What all can you eat with the SB diet? What all CANT you eat?

03-30-2005, 04:41 PM
On South Beach you can't have any sugar and I mean ANY sugar for 2 weeks. No processed carbs like bread, pastries, cereal that sort of stuff and no fruit for 2 weeks. But you can have meats, low fat cheeses, veggies, dairy. It's not to limiting, but it does have it challenges. I'm still trying to figure out some of the things. I'm not to sure on portions and such, but I'm learning and that's all that counts..
