I see these other boards with chat threads that go on FOREVER...I wonder why ours fizzle out so soon? I think it's easier to have a thread for whatever rather than to post a new thread anytime there's something new to talk about. But that's just me...

Big leaps and bounds in my life today...not only did I take the day off from work (only the third sick day I have ever taken since I started working when I was 16), but I have officially taken on a second job. That's right, you're reading the post of a new Ruby Tuesday SPG (their term for hostess--Smiling People Greeter...how incredibly cheesy is that?! :p ). Since I only work till 2 at my full-time job, I'll be hostessing a few nights a week (hopefully only Monday-Thursday and no weekends...that's what I put for my availability, but I know if they asked me to work a weekend, I would probably say yes cuz I'm just too damn nice!). I worked at a Ruby Tuesday my last year of college, so hopefully I won't have to spend much time training. It should give me the opportunity to not only pocket a few extra bucks each week (gotta love getting paid in cash), but also to meet some people my age in the area. It's just so perfect--I thought they would look at me like I had 6 heads when I said I didn't want to work weekends, but apparently 2 of their SPGs just quit last week, so they really need people for just about anytime. Now, I'm not sure if I believe in any real religion or God, but I do sometimes feel that things happen for a reason, and this is just a little too perfect to be purely coincidental, so I have a very good feeling about this! (Thankfully, they also have a kick *** salad bar, so I will be able to stay OP even if I have to eat dinner at work!)

So how's everybody else's lives in general? I know we all do a lot of things more interesting than dieting (that was apparent from some of the responses in the 4 Truth, 1 Lie game!). Hope everyone's having a great day--the weekend's almost here!!!:D

Congrats on the new job. Is that restaurant named after the Rolling Stones' song?

I'm thrilled the weekend is here. What a long week! I was so stressed out by all the stuff happening at work (new client, and lots of calls and calling on his behalf). He only speaks Spanish too, so we have to arrange for translators to go with my boss whenever he sees him.

We had such a cold spell these past couple of days too. Freezing my tuchus off. I'm originally from Northern Calif and used to 75 degree weather (which is the temp in SF today, btw). When it gets to 2 degrees with the windchill, well, brrrr, I'm in 10 layers and wool socks.

We have a botanic garden near us that we walk to in the spring, and I can't wait until we can start going again. I'm tired of being cooped up.

I have to admit that dieting is a very important aspect of my life these days. Aside from weight loss activities; some positive signs for my carrer. I have a few job interviews scheduled for next week…..so all the applications i made within past two months are finally paying off. Even if i still have a job for now there’s not much to do these days as the company is for sale.

Since my parents are off to their Florida Condo until end of March, i get to stay in their Montreal Suburbs house. Much more quiet than my downtown apartment. I also appreciate the fireplace. I also have much more room to cook. (my apartment has a 1 sq.ft counter) I’m trying new recipes. Last Sunday I made a Shrimps sauté that was just great.

Temperature here does not makes us think that spring is only 2 weeks away. We had an average of 0 Faranheit and lots of snow over past few days.

If things work out well with my carrer, I’d like to buy a bike for the summer. Since I’m still around 260, I need to get something solid.. My previous one was always broken.

Speaking of spending, I bought tickets to the Sarah Maclachlan Montreal concert next may. I know it is completely irrational to spend a 100$ for two tickets with so many uncertainties regarding my job; but I like her very much. Furthermore, past two months were quite difficult for me professionally speaking. I also have a friend who went to a burn-out at the same time. In order to get some positive stuff in our lives, I invited her to the show….See there is some rationale in this after all!!

Marge--I really have no idea where the name of the restaurant came from. It doesn't even talk about it in the "history" section of their website! As for the coooold weather, I'm not sure what the temp has been here today, but I do know that when I was out and about earlier, it was flurrying. Not heavy snow, but snow nonetheless...spring needs to hurry up and get here so I can go walking!

frenchie--good job on buying the concert tickets! We all need to splurge on ourselves once in a while, and buying one for a friend who's been down in the dumps is such a nice thing to do. I also think you need to come cook for me...I have more than 1 sq. foot of counterspace, but I'm still not much of a cook! :p

Well, time to clean up the apartment, do the laundry, and do the dishes...good thing I took the day off from work to rest! ;)

I've been super busy and PMSing on top of everything else. Witch finally showed up today after threatening me for a week. But at least I know that's the culprit for my mood so I'm feeling loads better.

I've got to finish laundry and pack for 5 people for a one night stay in a town about 7 hours away for my best friends 30th birthday. As much hard work as it is going to be to get ready for it, I'm sure we'll still have fun. My friend has a table reserved at her local bar and her mom is going to keep all the kiddos.

My mom is now sick with whatever William had so she's been feeling puny. Hopefully she'll be feeling better soon. Jeff has my durango at work today getting the oil changed. I'm hoping that will fix the sputtering of the engine and get the engine light to turn off.

Wow Jill how many pieces of flair do you have to wear. (Have to be a fan of the movie Office Space to get that). Anyway glad to hear you found a way to make some extra cash.

Shrimp does sound good Frenchie. I have a friend that is going to give me a real nice schiwnn bike. His dad gave him his old recombant bike so he is going to give me his bike.

Speaking of cold we have been having some cold tempatures here also. I just found out yesterday that next week I will be going to Ft Lauderdale FL on a business trip. Ahhh 80 degrees and sunny. I can't wait. Kimberley is really jealous that I get to go but thats life. LOL. It may only be a one day trip but even if I only get to enjoy the tempatures for an hour it will be worth it.

My sister is coming to town this weekend, so I'm pretty much hyped up about that right now! Other than homework and babysitting, not a whole lot going on...

Sorry this is so short, but I really don't know what to say! have a great weekend everyone! :)

Jill - I always did wonder why there wasn't just a thread to talk about life.. not just dieting. Spending your day off work cleaning? That doesn't really sound like too much fun... but.. want to come clean mine too? ;)

My life is generally really boring. I accept this, and don't really do much to change that.. so I can't complain. However! On Saturday I am cutting my hair all off, I have been planning this for a few months.. just waiting for the right time, and cash. My hair is currently the the middle of my back, and I'll probably cut it to just above my shoulders, with some funky bangs :)

Ah yes, spring. I'm sorry you all aren't out here, it's so warm.. apparently the high today was 19 degree C.. and no rain. I love it. But the rain will come soon.

Alrighty, good idea Jill.. hope it catchs on..

Aimee, how's things on the job front? Have you applied to any new ones since the big management blow-up??

howie, I SOOO love Office Space...excellent movie (which I own)! We're not allowed to wer any "flair" aside from the little gold "wow" pins we get when we do something really well (I have about 10 of those from the last time I worked there :p ).

barbygirl, as much as we all hate TOM, isn't it nice when it finally arrives--like a sigh of relief from the mood swings and chocolate cravings...strange but true :dizzy:

Well, I'm here at work again today, praying I won't have to work late since we have a deadline of close-of-business (5pm) today. I hate working late on Fridays cuz it cuts into my Jill+Jeff time (since he gets to my place about 4). *sigh* Of course I will work late if I have to because I'm a big wuss and can't say no  oooooh well. Hope everyone else is having a better start to their day (I came in to a PILE of papers on my chair)!

I know what you mean about the diet. Rob says I'm obsessing, ha. So, I'm going to calm down for a while. Good luck with the job search.

You have counter space?? our kitchen here in Brooklyn is so tiny. Can't wait to have a bigger place. One of these days.... A big kitchen *and* a fireplace.

I bought tickets to the Sarah Maclachlan Montreal concert next may. I also have a friend who went to a burn-out at the same time. In order to get some positive stuff in our lives, I invited her to the show….See there is some rationale in this after all!!

that should be great. enjoy!

Dawnyal, enjoy the party. I hear you re: PMS. I've always meant to try one of those over the counter pills that say they relieve the symptoms but never have. I think Pamprin has one. (sorry guys!) I can really have big time mood swings during the month.

Howie, I can't even envision 80 degrees and palm trees right now! Lucky you.

Aimee, I have to admit I've had basically the same haircut give or take a trim for the past several years. Slightly different colors maybe, but same haircut. I like having shorter hair for the spring and summer. For years I wore it super short. When I finally started growing it long again I had to go through this period of horrible looking hair. One of the things I plan to do when I get to goal weight is to pick a fancy salon in Manhattan and get a great haircut and color.

Apryl, enjoy your sister's visit. My sister lives in Calif, so I don't see her very often.

Jill, hope you get out of there and get in lots of Jeff/Jill time. I'm the same way, if my boss needs anything. He calls me off hours all the time. He's had a heck of a year this past year too, and yesterday his car window was smashed and his cell phone stolen.

Today is no work and I'm taking a "spa day". Yesterday, I ended the evening with a semi-migraine so the computer gets shut off early. We'll go out to Indian food, enjoy the wet and slush and cold wind (not). Maybe rent a movie, read. I wanted to try making a dish I found at this site with chickpeas.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Marge - I haven't really ever dyed my hair, I love my own colour! I once went red, good lord, it looked SO bad I washed my hair 4 + times a day to get it out. Oh New York, I would kill to go there. I've almost convinced my boyfriend he wants to go... not quite though. I'll have a better time convincing him to go to Las Vegas... I'll take it!

Jill - Nothing new on the job thing, I am planning to go apply for some jobs on Tuesday and possibly Wednesday (I have to switch a shift at work first), I have a few places picked out. Everyone is just pretending like nothing happened, I don't know if thats good or bad yet... makes things easier, but I have so much I want to say.

I attempted to go shopping today, I bought hair gel. I found a realllllly nice pair of franco sarto pointy-toe heels, they were really comfy, just not in my price range... considering I would only wear them out (and I rarely go out). There is nothing like a sexy pair of heels though. I guess I should get ready for work.. I hate working Friday's, coming home on the skytrain is kinda freaky... there are too many horror stories of people being stabbed, robbed.. I'm too innocent for that stuff! Have a great night all :)

So I cut all my hair off... from the middle of my back to just barely touching my shoulders... the hair stylist was in a little shock, because I asked her to cut it all off. I guess people don't normally do that she was saying, oh well, it feels good! I will be interested to see how it goes after I shower and style it on my own. I didn't get the bangs I wanted, but thats alright :) I also went power shopping .. 4 hours in the mall.. partly I was waiting for a "friend" who never showed up or called. I bought 2 new shirts, a magazine, drink, and ceramic flat iron.. all for 60 bucks! It's hard to shop sometimes, I couldn't find the purse I wanted, or the shoes I wanted either.. and the cardigan I wanted had a huge rip in it and would have cost me like 15 bucks to fix, and they would only give me 7 bucks off the price! I'm just babbling.. shopping alone was pretty damn boring.. on the plus side, since my friend didn't show I had to walk home, 2 km's up a huge fricking mountain! Alrighty.. I'm done..

Congrats on cutting the hair! I used to have REALLY long hair (like, it would sometimes get caught in the waist of my pants in the back, had to make sure I pulled it forward when I used the toilet, etc.), and then I randomly chopped it to about shoulder-length and angled in the front. I didn't ask or tell anyone I was chopping it, just did it and surprised everyone. Actually, I wore my hair up when I went back to my apartment, so my 5 roommates didn't even notice until I pulled it down and shook my head and there was nothing there! It was awesome, though...I don't think I have ever gotten more compliments in my life. I did miss the fun I had with my long hair, though (could do so much more with braiding and twisting and blah blah blah), but it was much easier to manage. Now my hair is almost to the bottom of my shoulder blades (just above mid-back), and I'm thinking of cutting it again, but this time, ABOVE the shoulders :o I may wait until I have lost about 20 pounds, though, and use the haircut as my reward :)

Well, I start my Ruby Tuesday restaurant re-training tomorrow right after work (from one job straight to the other--I'm so excited to be busy again!). Since it has been more than 6 months since I last worked there, I have to train all over again, but it should be pretty quick and painless. I don't think the girl who called me to come in for training realized that I had worked there before since she described the uniform in extensive detail to me even though I already knew what it was. It'll be fun, though...like when I was in college and worked at a movie theater at home during breaks. I remember every time I started working during Christmas or summer break, the people who were hired while I was gone would think I was new and would try to show me how to do stuff and then got all embarassed when I actually corrected them. Oh, it was so fun :p That was the greatest place to work if you enjoy making people feel like idiots. Like if I was selling tickets and someone would ask me what time it was, would I look at my watch or at the computer screen in front of me? Oh noo, that wouldn't be any fun. No, I would turn around and look at the BIG RED DIGITAL CLOCK located on the sign right next to the movie time listings. I know, I'm mean, but you have to admit, it's kinda fun

Alright, enough for now. Time to shower and get dressed (since it's almost 2 in the afternoon) and enjoy the rest of my anniversary with Jeff. Hope everyone's haveing a great weekend and will be ready to start the week off with a bang!

Jill--You sound just like me. I love to point out when people have idiot moments. Of course it could be because I have just as many myself. :) Good luck with your new (old) job.

Aimee--WTG on getting your hair cut. I wanna see some pics. Good luck with the job hunting. I don't know if y'all have it in Canada or not but here in Oklahoma you can search for jobs all over the state on the employment website. It might be worth checking into. That way you aren't feeling so stressed actually having to go to all the places.

Apryl--that is great about the review. I hope you had a nice weekend with your sis.

Marge--A spa day sounds marvelous. That is my big reward when I get to 150--a spa weekend (or maybe a week depending on the fundage) but I'm thinking I may add in at least a full pedicure or something for a reward to get to like 215 or something.

My weekend was tiring yet fun. Nothing like being in the car with 3 kids for 14 hours. We left at 3:30 a.m. on Saturday morning so the kids would sleep through most of the drive. Yeah right. At 6:30 all three were wide awake. Luckily they didn't fuss too much though. Of course I had planned on taking a nap that afternoon since I only had about 3.5 hours of sleep. William said no way. He has problems trying to sleep elsewhere. He sleeps just fine at home, daycare and mom's but you put him anywhere else and he fights sleep. So I got about a 45 min. nap instead. We had a blast at my friend's 30th birthday party. I found me a new favorite drink but it has a very nasty name so I won't post it here. ;) Then the drive home wasn't so bad but I am a bit exhausted today. I woke up at 4 this morning and couldn't get back to sleep. I finally got up just before 5 to make some soda bread and a reuben ring for our Irish themed pot luck at work. It will be interesting to see what everyone else brings. :)

I haven't really ever dyed my hair, I love my own colour! I once went red, good lord, it looked SO bad I washed my hair 4 + times a day to get it out.

I started dying mine in my mid-30s, when it started to look just too mousy and greyish. Now they make the hair color so that it actually conditions your hair, so it's not too traumatic that way. I usually pick something close to the original color of my hair, but am willing to experiment (a little) ha. Congrats on the new doo.

Oh New York, I would kill to go there. I've almost convinced my boyfriend he wants to go... not quite though. I'll have a better time convincing him to go to Las Vegas... I'll take it!

I just finished taking around a friend of mine's sister and her husband. It always amazes me how much and how fast the city changes. Time's Square looks so different now from a few years ago. In fact, the city has changed tremendously since I first got here in the late 80s. It's lost a lot of its "edge" and has seen lots of renovations, reclamations, facelifts, etc. Places that were a little scary back then are trendy places to live now. You should come, I'd be happy to give you lots of tips. :)

Oooh, pointy shoes. That does sound sexy. Hopefully your friend had a good
excuse. I do a lot of clothes shopping on line these days, or through catalogs. Maybe when I get skinnier I'll be more excited about going to stores. I'm a bit of a jeans and sweatshirt gal now.

So, Jill, you're admitting you have a sadistic streak? ;) Have fun at Ruby's. What did you all do for your anniversary, if you can share!

I spent the weekend catching up on sleep and watching movies. I'm in a much better mood today.

Aaaah, a spa...sounds so nice. I have never been to one. I had a friend try to convince me to get a massage with her once, but I couldn't get myself to do it. For the longest time (pretty much all of high school and college), I couldn't stand people touching me. I very seldom let people hug me, and when people touched my arm or back or anything, I would actually cringe or flinch. I hated being touched, and I think it was because of my weight and how disgusted I was with myself--I figured everyone else would be just as disgusted at how "squishy" I was (am). Some things have happened since that make me a little more comfortable with hugging and such, but I still don't think I could handle a spa :o

Hi, Hi, Hi!

What a great way to get caught up on all that has been going on around here.

Jillybean - Congrats on your new job hope you are enjoying yourself!

Dragonwoman64 - Do I ever understand stress at work! I hope you weekend was great and things are going better at the job now.

Frenchiepolarbear - So... How did the interviews go? And btw I am SOOOO jealous about Sarah Maclaclan.

SwimGirl - I bet your hair looks great! I just love it when people do different things with their hair.

I have been so busy I almost feel guilty about posting. I'm finally done with training at work and I still have no idea what I'm doing, or how to do it. I feel brandnew and I've been here for over 5 years. Our grand CEO decided it was time to make some changes to our vacation and pay and I'm still not sure what I think about that. We are going from being paid the same (salary gotta love it) every two weeks to being paid on the 8th and the 22nd. That doesn't seem like a huge deal but it is with only a two week notice to rearange all my bills. Vacation got much better, it used to be that your vacation/sick days stayed at 15 days until you have been with the company for 10 years when you would recieve 20 but none of your days carried over to the next year. Now we get 22 days at 5 years and your days can carry over up to a "cap". Only draw back I see is you can't cash out when you reach the cap.

My grandfather is doing well. He is dead set against no treatment and we are just trying to keep his spirits up and spending all the time we can with him. He is staying in good spirits and so are we and I know that is a great thing for us all. I'm learning so much about him I never knew and I wish I had taken the time to learn a long time ago. I now realize how much I may never know about him and the life and times he lived.

We have gained a new memeber to our family! His name is Guinness. He's so cute! And of course I have a picture (OK, two):

http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2005-3/974628/guinness.jpg http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2005-3/974628/guinness2.jpg

We absolutely adore him, well, except for our cat. But that is getting better everyday. It's so good to get to catch up a little. I should be around a lot more now. I'm sure glad to be back! It was hard staying on track and not having all of you!

kykaree

I love Guinness, he's got the cutest face :) Wish him happy St Pats Day for me. He is just gorgeous!!!!
I love dogs, but we can't have one as we are never home, and don't have a yard. And I think our cat would be rather put out. I am really tempted to get another furbaby, perhaps summer will see us with another cat.
My life has just been same old same old, apart from my crisis during the week, where I burst into tears at work and got sent home. Now my employer is sending me to Occupational Health to see if my little stress out was work related, I am not overly impressed, but what can you do???? It isn't work related, but it wouldn't hurt to say I am over worked and underpaid and paying me more money would solve my stress problems :dizzy:  A girl can but try!!!! ;)
I have a half day at work tomorrow and am contemplating whether to get up at 6.30 am for a swim or to have a rest!!!!!! I get measured tomorrow so will be able to report in my inches lost, I am strangely excited by this :smug:

I had one interview last week. Went fine, but they always come up with these questions out of left field for which you were not prepared at all, like "describe yourself in one word"...i had to be quick on that one and said "positive spirit" SInce they meet applicants until the end of march, i cannot expect anything until then. Another interview is scheduled for next week and also a "head hunter" got my name from an ex-colleague. That's one good thing about pharma industry, everyone knows everyone.....

I think they still have good tickets for Sarah Maclachlan concert...so if you want to join us your welcome at any time ....:D
I know she has a few dates confirmed in Canada and US. You can check her website for locations...

Wow Misty you have been busy. I've been at my job through 3 different managements and the policies and procedures have pretty much stayed the same throughout. I love the dog. Such a cutie.

Frenchie Hopefully the rest of the month will go by quickly for you and you'll hear something. I too hate those off the wall out of nowhere questions.

kykaree That is nice of your employer to at least be thinking of you, unless of course they are afraid you might sue or something. Hopefully things will settle down for you.

I've been having to deal with one crabby daughter each night when I get home. She has been falling asleep the last few minutes of the drive home and then when I wake her up has been screaming, throwing fits and only wanting to be held. That would be great to just hold her if I didn't have 10 million other pressing issues--dinner, Chris doing chores, keeping William out of EVERYTHING, stuff like that. Last night was better but I had to go to big ole T-town for a meeting and mom and dad were over to watch the kids so she got to see nana and pappaw and was just fine last night. We'll see how she does today.
I've still be super tired all week. I'm hoping mom will go ahead and keep both kiddos tonight for me so I can sleep in tomorrow and then get some major cleaning done on the house. We'll see.

I did it...I went to my new gym yesterday for the first time, and LOVED it! I went at 2pm, so it was pretty empty, which was nice. 30 minutes on the eliptical and 20 on a recumbent bike was about as much as I could handle after doing nothing but sitting on my *** for the past 6 months :o I will be back there again today for a very similar workout (have to shave off a few minutes to allow for dinner between the gym and beginning my shift at job #2 at 4pm). It feels good to know this will be part of my normal routine 4 days a week. I'm finally incorporating exercise back into my life! Should help to increase my rate of weight loss (I have to update my ticker down there...I weighed in this morning at 304.5).

The plan: Next week, when I start going 4 days a week, I will start doing weights instead of just cardio. I know I need to balance my workouts. I figure I will workout my upper body (arms/back) Monday and Wednesday and my legs on Tuesday and Thursday. I'll also try to get in at least 30 minutes of cardio on each of those 4 days. Maybe I won't lose any weight--maybe I will become 304 pounds of solid muscle! :strong: hehe I know that won't happen, nor would I actually want it to :p

Hope everyone's having a great day, great week, great month!!

OK, so, this week has been very good to me!!!

We had a pot-luck at work on Wednesday and I had NOTHING! All this junk food was 5 feet away from me for 10 hours and I did not eat a single morsel and feel so great about that. I had pressure from 2 sabatogers to 'just try it' and 'it's not bad for you'... well I politely declined for a long time, after about 3 hours of this I snapped! My face was bright red and I was steaming! I, not so politely, explained that I was not at all interested in having anything and that I had brought a dish to participate so get off my back!!! They backed off in a hurry!

Last weekend I did the chore of cleaning out my closet... I only put clothes back in there that actually fit me, too small, in a 'almost there' tote; and too big in a 'give away' tote. Well I gave the tote of too big away to a coworker on Thursday! She said it was like Christmas! I made up my mind to not keep anything that grows out of me! It's too easy to let yourself get back up in sizes if you have something that fits!

Then, this morning, jeans day at work... I tried on a pair of jeans that I've had for 4 years that I wore about 6 times then got to big for. They have zero strech in them so it has to be a REAL fit, and they do! Yipee! I'm so excited!
I started losing in January wearing a very tight 26 or a comfortable 28 jeans and now I am very comfortably sitting in a 24! It really IS a 'Good Friday'!!!

That's awesome, Sara! Don't you love the feeling of slipping into something you haven't been able to fit in for so long? I haven't quite lost enough to get to that point yet, but I'm working on it! I have a few "goal" items of clothing that I hope to eventually fit into--scratch that--that I will eventually fit into :D

Thanks Jill!
Yes, it's the best feeling ever! It's gonna be even better in another 40 or so pounds when I have to go and actually buy NEW clothes! not just fit into the leftovers from my previous attempts! I have nothing smaller than a 24 pant or a 22/24 top! Can't wait! Good thing I'm saving up now!!!

That's great Sara. It is such a good feeling to get rid of clothes that no longer fit. I have had to buy pants two times now and am almost to the point of having to buy them again. Shirts don't go down as quick I've only had to buy them once.

Keep up the good work.

I renamed this thread with a #1 after it. How about we start a new thread when we get to say...50 posts?? I have always liked the idea of a chat thread. Don't know why they get lost here sometimes.

I am doing pretty good - I posted on another thread that I am starting over...again. Will weigh in tonight. I am kinda glad that Easter is over. Not too much comimg up and I am hoping to spend some time focusing on me. I'm at the end of my rope!!!

We still have our house on the market and haven't found anything to buy. I am hoping that the markets picks up soon. Of course I heard that interest rates will be going up soon too. Just my luck!!!

JILL How is the new job going?? You guys crack me up with all the talk about Flair! I also love the movie Office Space! Good Job on getting back to the gym. I finally bought the Walk Away the pounds tape in hopes of working out in the morning, but I plan to get back in the gym and lift weights this week or next!!

MARGE I have always wanted RED hair. I too was going to wait until I got thin. But a few months ago, I just went and did it. I really love it. Don't wait for a great haircut, just do it.

FRENCHIEPOLARBEAR Any word on the interviews?? I hate the left field questions!!!

DAWNYAL Don't you just hate that when they take quick naps at the wrong time and wake up crabby. And then there is just NO pleasing them!! Jacob does that all the time!!!

HOWIE You and Frenchie have really gotten me thinking. I keep telling myself that I will buy a bike when I get thinner. But Jacob loves to ride his bike and he always has to wait for me (especially when we are on the trails). I wonder if there would be a bike that would hold my weight and a seat that would be comfortable enough for me to ride??

APRYL Congrats on getting published!! :D

AIMEE Don't you just love a new haircut! I am growing mine out, but I love shorter hair! Where are the pics??

MISTY What a cute little puppy. Steve is allegic to dogs, so if we get one it has to have hair and not fur. He REALLY wants a wheaton Terrier. Maybe next year!!!

KYKAREE How is the work thing going??

SARA Congrats on the jeans!! What a wonderful feeling that muct be!!!!! :D

Have a great week everyone!!! :D

Sandi I have rode bikes when I was as heavy 380. I don't think you have to much to worry about. The bike I had last year was just the cheapest huffy at Miejer and it held up fine at 350 lbs. They only thing wrong was the gears did not work well. But that was the bike not the weight. So go get one by all means. You will love it. They also have those big saddle seats that are pretty comfy. I can't stand those small seats that come with the bike. I only paid $80 dollars for the bike and $25 for the seat.

Sara, wtg on the jeans front!

Jill, from what I've heard about the elliptical, going for 30 min when you haven't been doing it for a while is impressive. I'm sure you have a lot of muscle. I've been working with free weights for a while, and last summer I was at a fair where at one of the booths you can win a prize by throwing an axe into a wall (which is a lot harder than it sounds!). Well, I guess I must have seriously improved my upper arm strength because I scared the guy I threw that thing so hard at the wall

I'd love to have a new puppy, but Chloe our cat definitely wouldn't go for it. The fur would fly, literally! And probably most of it would be mine!

I dyed my hair a few weeks ago with a reddish brunette color (inspired by you, Sandi :) ) I think I'd like to go even redder.

March sucked for me weight loss wise. Last week I did up the exercise and I'm following through this week. Gotta turn around the stall. This Friday is Y gym join day for me and I'm definitely ready.

Well, the plan had been that this would be my first full week of the 2 jobs and the gym in between. However, the universe has other plans. My grandmother passed away early Saturday morning (the day before Easter), so I was on an early flight this morning up to Connecticut. I will be here in CT until Friday afternoon with the family. It wasn't completely unexpected--she had been in a nursing home for about 6 years. That doesn't really make it much easier, though, especially on my mother (it was her mother). So, now I am up here with the family for the week. It's great to see family I haven't been able to see much since I moved away; it just sucks that it's under such sad conditions.

I suppose my challenge for this week will have to be to NOT eat all of the food my friends and family bring to the house. In addition to Easter leftovers, we already have food piling up for the gathering after the service on Wednesday. I have to remember that emotions and gatherings, in whatever spirit, are not acceptable excuses for overeating. I've already eaten too much today, so time to kick the snacking before it becomes a habit again!

Again, I'm really sorry to hear about your grandmother.

It is a real challenge at holidays and in those situations not to let food be at least part of the comfort. Hang in there, Jill. I'm sending good thoughts your way.

Interviews went Ok. i had an offer but not sure if i'll take it. As it was done throughout an employment agency, i would only have my salary. No insurance, pension plan or vacation.....I'll make my decision by the end of the week.

Jill I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. Even when it is expected, it doesn't make it any easier. I lost my grandma 6 years ago and I still think about her. (We had some thousand Island dressing the other night and it reminded me of staying the night at her house because she ALWAYS had that sandwich spread stuff).

Frenchie Good luck with your decision on the job. Hopefully something better (with benefits) will open up for you by then.

sandi I'm glad to see you back and posting more :) Hopefully the homefront will have some leads soon. As for the bike, I noticed the "banana" seats are coming back. Maybe one of those wouldn't be so bad on your bum. I wouldn't worry about your weight on your bike. I was riding mine at 317.

I still haven't made an appt. yet. I need to find a doc and will be talking with the boss this afternoon when she gets back from lunch. Hopefully I can find one I like.

Jill - I'm so sorry to hear about your Grandmother. (((HUGS))) Death can really send you into a whirlwind. I know I gained 26 lbs since my Dad died in April of last year. Just do your best and get back to business when you get home.

Frenchie - It's hard when a job has no benefits. Do you already have insurance? My job doesn't have benefits, but I get my insurance through Hubby. Let us know what you decide.

Dawnyal - Did you talk with your boss?? I hope you can find a doc to help you out.

I weighed in yesterday and was 1.8 lbs up. Not TOO bad considering how I ate those 2 weeks. I am glad I faced it. I am doing better this week. Not perfect, but better.

The weather was really nice today, I got out in the garden and got rid of some of the dead stuff. We are planning on having another Open House on Sunday, so I want the yard to look nice.

Hope everyone is having a great week!!! ;)

Well, I got a couple of referrals from coworkers for a good OB/GYN. I called to make an appointment yesterday evening. The receptionist said I could have an appt. in July  But she said I could leave a message with his nurse and she would call me back so I did. She called back as I was loading the kids in the car. I told her I'd basically been having migraines since a week ago Monday and they aren't getting any better and I'm not sure if it's my IUD causing the problems. Also said I'd been having bad cramps to go with it. (Coworker told me if I sounded horrible, horrible pain I could be moved up.) Nurse told me she would check his calendar again and give me a call back. I figured I wouldn't hear from her until the morning. I was almost home last night and she called. I have an appt for in the morning at 10. Yippee. So now I have to sit down and compile a list of questions I would like answered. I also have a dentist appt Friday morning to have impressions made. I'm going to have a partial put in on the lower left side.

Of course through all of this, I now see how I've failed in the past. I also realize how quickly it is to just let myself go. I'm not going to let that happen.

The weather is gorgeous here today, 50 degrees and sunny. The birds are singing.

Dawnyal, glad to hear you're seeing the doc so soon. I hope you get it all resolved quickly. For myself, just taking the action to handle stuff in my life feels liberating and relieving.

Frenchie, good luck on the job front; I know the job market in the US is tough right now. A couple of friends of mine have been searching. It's stressful.

Sandi, 1.8 lbs is not bad at all. It's always been small steps for me, habit wise and weight wise.

Friday is the day I start the Y. Rob's going with me. We're all ready to go. I basically maintained in March, so I'm really looking forward to boosting my weight loss with the extra exercise. I know we'll be a lot more active now that the weather is getting nice too.

Whew, back from a rough week at home and ready to get back on track! Between the cookies and brownies and pasta salads and pie and homemade baked macaroni and cheese, I don't have to weigh in this week to know I gained, but as long as I make up for it over the next week or two, I should be able to get back down.

So, on my plane yesterday flying from Connecticut to Maryland, we're in the air, and I have been looking out the window the whole time (I love looking down at the houses and trees and patterns of the ground when there's no low clouds). Well, the pilot gets on the speaker-announcer thingy and says, "Those of you sitting on the right side of the plane get quite a treat today. Look at that--you don't see that every day!" So we're all looking out the windows in every direction possible and see nothing out of the ordinary, so after a minute or two he gets back on and says, "April Fools!" We all felt like idiots for looking, but at least we had a fun flight crew :p

Well, hope everyone else is doing well and didn't get too humiliated on April Fools' Day!

Jill--how are things going? I hope you are able to get back to normal after all that's happened.

Marge--How was the "Y"? We're still supposed to go tour the local gym facilities here but I never can seem to coordinate a time with all the coworkers to head over and see it.

I don't know about y'all but this time change is kicking my butt. I have been so sleepy and not wanting to get up in the mornings. This morning I managed to crawl out of bed at 6:35. (I strive to get up at 5:30 to get in some walking but that ain't been happening!!!) This time change just seems to really mess with my system. The fall back one, I do great with and have no problems but this one is really messing with me this time.

I took William to see the ENT yesterday to have his hearing test and set the date for his surgery for the tubes. His hearing is horrible. It was BB rating and the doc said that his drum was barely vibrating if at all and he definitely needs the tubes. He still had a ton of fluid in his ear but luckily it wasn't infected. The bad news is that he once again has pneumonia and i had to take him to his regular doc (well through urgent care) to get a different round of antibiotics. It was a long drawn out process (I wrote in my Blog (http://barbygirl43.blogspot.com/2005/04/such-ordeal.html) if you want to read the big story. He's now on another antibiotic (I don't remember the name) and is doing albuterol treatments 4x a day. Hopefully he will be better and be able to have his tubes put in.

The rest of the family is doing well. We're picking up our taxes back tomorrow and we're getting more back from state that what I thought so that will really help us out. Yippee.

I finally accepted the offer from a pharma company. I will start the archives dept. april 21. I will have to write all policies and procedure pertaining to archives. I will also have to design a secure archive room. This is a big challenge, but it's not the first time i do this.

Happy this job search is over, but also a bit sad to leave my current job as i was getting along pretty well with everyone. However, ther were too many uncertainties with the future of the company. Since i'm on my own to pay for car, food, appartment, i need something more stable.

LOL Howie--I agree...leave the time alone!!

Congrats on the new job, frenchie! It sucks leaving people you enjoy working with (I just did it in November), but you never know how amazing your new job (and the new people) may be.

I've been back on track--as of yesterday, I managed to only have gained 1 pound from my last weigh-in (March 24), which is amazing considering the stress of the funeral and dealing with my mother for a week (and indulging in all of the goodies provided for the after-service gathering at my parents' house...those brownies added up fast :o ). But, I'm back to working both jobs and going to the gym for 40 minutes of cardio in between (plus I'm running around all night for job #2, so I get exercise there, too), and I keep to 1400-1500 calories a day during the week ('cept yesterday I only had about 1250 to make up for the frosted donut and cheese danish I splurged on earlier in the week :( ), and I drink water at job #1 all day, so I think I'm doing pretty well--just have to make sure I don't go crazy on the weekends and undo all my hard work!

Congrats on the new job, Frenchie. I know how stressful that can be.

I've been to the Y a few times now and I'm really glad I decided to do it. I'm still building up my level of exercise and learning the machines. We get up early, throw on sweat and walk there -- it's about 6 blocks away. It's a family oriented gym, so people of all ages and sizes go there.

Man, I thought a gym membership would be about a year away for me (when I lost weight -- I know that doesn't make much sense, ha.) I'm glad I pushed myself to try it.

I took William to see the ENT yesterday to have his hearing test and set the date for his surgery for the tubes.

How's William doing? Rob had all kinds of problems with his ears when he was a kid. Hope you get that all over with quickly.

That hour threw us completely off too. It doesn't seem like an hour should have so much effect!

jillybean720

Dawnyal--How old is William? I had really bad ears when I was younger. I had ear tubes put in when I was 4, I think--maybe 5. I actually lost almost 80% of my hearing. My mom used to yell at me all the time cuz she thought I was ignoring her until she found out I really just couldn't hear her at all. :p I pretty much couldn't tell if someone was talking to me unless they turned my face so I could see their mouth moving. It was really bad. At one point, I was supposed to have my adnoids removed, but when we returned from a family trip to Florida, my doc checked my ears and said they were miraculously almost perfect (and we specifically had driven to Florida from Connecticut because they said the pressure changes would make it too dangerous for me to fly). *shrug* Who knows how or why, but these things can just mysteriously clear up one day. I hope the same happens for your William!
