morning girls,
hope you all had a good weekend. i went to a japanese festival in hyde park, then drank cocktails with friends i hadn't seen for ages and then i went to a karaoke party where me and my friends hogged the microphone all night. the shame! still, it was fun and i'm sure singing burns calories! especially when accompanied by some grooving...
kierie, hope your tummy is ok! don't share too many squirty details till after i've had lunch! ;)
hope all you canucks had a good long weekend, it's my turn this weekend! and the weather here is set to get sunnier and sunnier, at least till the weekend when it will probably rain. booh!
i suppose i should get on with some work...hello to everyone who's about to post.

Hi Kierie, Kirsty, everyone!
Great weekend, bummed it's over and I'm back at work although it's SOOOOOOOO beautiful outside. Yesterday was the funniest day foodwise, I was so proud of myself in the afternoon when my parents visited and we went to the Cotswolds for cream tea and everyone else had huge plates of scones and cream and butter and jam, and I just had a camomile tea and a cornflake cake (yummy!). Then we spent the evening in the college bar (NOT my parents!) and worked our way through 4 tia marias and diet coke (me), 4 pints of cider (him), 2 bags of crisps, a bag of peanuts and 2 chocolate bars (the porky, piggy pair). Why am I so dumb?
Anyway, I am recommitting as of today, and going to face up to WI tomorrow, so wish me luck ...
Now I'm going home to eat BAGEL!!!
hugs,
Lxxx

Hi Everyone :) Is it really Monday already? Ugh! Where'd my weekend go? I only have 3 more weeks to classes and I still haven't figured out what I want to do... take more classes this summer, get a job, etc. Yuck. I just don't know. Ahhh well. Other than that, not much is new. Been doing really well with food. That's one good thing about not being home much, I'm not tempted to eat. My guy friend eats like a bird... at least compared to what I'm used to eating... so it works out really well. He doesn't know anything about this... or even that I lost over 25lbs before I even met him. I did tell his sister at one point b/c she's lost a lot of weight, but it's not really something I'd feel comfortable talking to him about, at least not out of the blue, ya know? How do/did you all feel about telling your significant others?

HI all. I had a very busy weekend and am still tired. Friday night I lost .2 at WI (I wanted more!!!) and then went out for MExican food. Bad idea, had a margartia that was so delicious and a mexican salad that had lots of refried beans in it. It was all delicious but very high in points. Saturday we went to a wedding shower and there was lots of delicious food which I didn't really expect. The bridesmaids did a super job with the shower and it was really fun. It was a couple's shower which is usually fun anyway. I ate tons at that and then the girls went out to dinner, only had 1 drink, and then to a strip club. It is not really my thing but it wasn't as bad as another place I had to go for a different bachelorette party. Then yesterday I ate again, leftover cake, M&Ms, and chinese food. I feel so tired and kinda gross so I am back on track today.
On a side note: I have experienced swelling in myh fingers. I had to get my engagement ring sized up 1 whole size 2 weeks ago and it felt much better. The doctors can't figure out what it is. Then on Saturday it swelled even more. I barely got my ring off and now can't get it back on again. I don't know what is wrong with myring finger but I am really upset about it. It was a size 6 3/4 and now it is more than a 7 1/2. I had this happend with my left hand 3 years ago, it went from a 7 1/2 to a 9!
I hope everyone had a nice weekend. I am going to go back and cathc up.
Lolly - not to worry about overindulging last night. At least you did well during the day.
Kierie - I hope you are feeling better.
Kirsty - Your lunch sounds fabulous. I love butternut squash! :)
shaylene - tough decision for the summer. Sometimes I think it is better to get more school out of the way if you can stand it. If you are burnt out, a job might be a nice break from it.
I will be back! See you in a bit!

Really quick, cause I'm totally swamped at work. But despite that, I've been here an hour already and I haven't managed to accomplish anything! Yikes.
I voted "other" in the poll. I'd love to get a tan, but my legs never tan below the knee, my face turns to freckles, and for some strange reason I'm sort of "allergic" to the sun and I usually wind up with a really itchy rash that disappears as soon as I get in the shade. Go figure. I'm thinking of trying a tan in the bottle...
My weekend was good. Friday night I had a dinner with my firm (kind of like a wedding, but no bride & groom and no dancing.) I only had one drink and ate 1/2 of all my dinner so I count that as success. Saturday I was a perfect little WW. Sunday we went to a fair/carnival and so I was off program again. I just couldn't resist all of the fair munchies! Benjamin (my son) had a great time at the carnival, he was just soooo blasted cute when I put him on the little rides. :D Stupid momma forgot my camera though .
Back on the straight and narrow today! That's why I'm doing better this time around, I'm capable of having a not so great day and then getting right back on the bandwagon the next day! :)
No time for personals. Hope everyone is well. Oh, I also posted a picture on the photos thread. Check it out. :)

Hi everyone.... Well, the numbers tell all.... I LOST 1.8 on Saturday. I was so excited. My leader weighed me and I told her I thought I gained and told her why...birthday, pampered chef party, etc... and I ended up losing. I think I have finally gotten myself back on track! Ever since I restarted in January, I have the pattern of losing 2 weeks, then maintain, then gain, then back to losing. But this time I lost 3 weeks in a row! YAHHHOOOOO
I did a ton of yard work this weekend. I am so exausted today, my eyes are having a hard time staying open. And my body aches. uggghhhh
Kierie, hope your tummy gets better!!
Lolly, I am sure you will do fine. Drink LOTS of water to combat the salt!!!
Kirsty, I agree, food RULES! I love good food!
Shaylyn, I don't think you need to tell your guy that you lost all that weight, unless he wants to know. I was about 20 pounds heavier than I was when I met hubby and he never really cared. He saw pictures of me heavier and never said anything. So don't go out of way to make an issue out of it!
Sarah, check with your doctor to make sure you don't have something else wrong with you that could cause the swelling!!!
Janet, I am a spot tanner too. I have tan arms and a white torso and usually white legs. How sad. I tried tanner once and it was blotchy. If you find a good one that does it evenly, let me know!!
OK, back to work!!

Good morning!
Well, I am plugging thru all of the posts since last Thursday when I posted, Congrats to all the losers, and I am happy everyone had great weekends. Forgive me for not posting to individuals!
I am still sick, now my cold has settled in my chest, and I sound like I smoke 5 packs a day....oh well, I don't feel so bad, so that is good!
DH and I had a wonderful weekend ATVing on the trails in central Wisconsin. 4 wheeling is DH and I's favorite summer past time. I am buying my own 4 wheeler when he gets back from his hunting trip next weekend. Our children (5 1/2 and 2 1/2) love going on the trails with us. Anyway, that is usually what we do almost every weekend in the summer. Excellent exercise, lots of clenching of the legs, and arm strength.
My eating has been horrible, but today is regroup day, and I am determined to get this extra weight off!! So, journal is my word for the week!!! I will do it!!!!!!!
Well, better get back to work, I have hardly been here in the last week! More interviews this week, and I have to go out for lunch with a candidate today, so I have already told myself I am getting soup!!!! :)
Check in later! :)

Today is going so slow!!!! I don't have much to do and am not interested in doing anything. I am still a little tired and jsut want to go home or even go run errands. I was totally lazy yesterday after we got home and laid on the couch for 7 hours! I guess I needed the downtime but now I need to get going again.
I hope you are all having more exciting days than I am.
tonya - enjoy lunch. I hope you feel better. I went 4 wheeling once, sounds like a great summer activity.
Jen - Way to go on your great loss! I totally know what you mean about consecutive losses, WOOHOO! Great exercise weekends too, good for you!
Janet - It's funny how we can resist somethings that are high points but others get us evertime. I'm glad you enjoyed the fair and that your son had fun. I hope to figure out what is going on with my fingers soon.

Hey everyone! Boss is on a smoke break so I'll make this quick!
Yep, the serious countdown has begun!
I put other on the survey b/c I am tanning for the wedding. I usually burn then tan, but I had a tan circle on my otherwise white back from my blessed swimsuit last year. So, I had to get it evened out. I don't plan on tanning after the wedding since it's bad for you, but it's kinda fun right now. :)
Really busy at work...(as usual) so hi to everyone.
Congrats on all the losses! I hope to see a small one at WI tomorrow, but if it doesn't happen, that's fine b/c I KNOW I've been doing great with points. So, haha there you dumb scale! :D
Have a great afternoon! Bee back later maybe!

Tonya... my guy friend just got a new 4-wheeler (Yamaha Blaster). He's always loved 4-wheeling and now that he's got his new one could spend all his time riding it. I had never been on one till I met him...it's fun but hasn't quite gotten me all the way won over yet.

Afternoon friends-
I too, was not expecially conscientious this weekend but I am willing to chalk it up to the learning process rather than guilt trip myself into the ground. As previously noted by BrendaN, I had a really good time, so I'd prefer not to minimize it by feeling badly after the fact. I am a work in progress (a masterpiece, perhaps?)
I am the epitome of an 'Irish tanner' although I can't be sure if I even have any Irish blood in me. In my youth, I went to the emergency room twice for sunburns so I do my best to avoid sun exposure altogether. If anyone needs good sunburn remedies, I have an arsenal.
The weather here has been so beautiful. The sky is such an impeccable blue and the sunlight is really . . . ummm . . . bright. That's not very eloquent. You know how in the late afternoon the sunlight becomes really thick and golden? This is the opposite. It's as if everything is just slightly sprinkled with water, really crisp and bright. I'm not so articulate, but it is super lovely, so I'm off to take a walk.
Questions for Kirsty and Lolly- I just finished an excellent book set in London and North Berwick, Scotland. Can you tell me what it means to dial '1471' and what 'Ready Brek" is? Thanks!
March on, valiant WW soldiers! Here's hoping for a great week for all of us!

Congrats to the losers: Suzanne and Jen! Yay! I think I did OK eating-wise over the weekend, so I hope to join you guys in the losing club at WI this Wednesday. I've been walking my little butt off, too.
I had to work this weekend, and that meant covering an international festival. Yummy food! But I was very good, and just had a little.
Of course, working Sunday didn't make for much of a weekend. And I worked late all last week. This week is busy, too. Plus, I'm taking off Friday because a friend is graduating that morning, so I have to drive to Connecticut Thursday night! Ugh. That's eight hours, so I'll have to try and get out of work a little early.
Ooh. Tanning. I put "light" but I probably should have put "other." I'm pretty fair, so I generally will burn a little and then settle on a light tan. Oh, and I get lots of freckles.
Well, I better run. My b/f is off tonight so I'm hoping to spend time with hi, so I better get to work!

Hi all!
I don't bother tanning.....I just burn. :) The pain is just not worth it to me. Oh well.
Not sure if I've lost or not.........just really trying to focus on switching over to my new "diet" while maintaining the points system. I'm trying not to obsess about numbers on a scale, but a budge on the downward spiral would be nice!
Lolly: I tried some sweet nothings frozen dessert today.
YUM! I can't wait to try the soy cream. The stuff I tried today was mango-raspberry flavored and it was so good. I liked the fact that I was actually satisfied eating a little bit rather than wanting to eat 1/2 a gallon.
I have to tell you guys this is the first day I have been completly wheat/dairy/sugar free and I feel wonderful! It's almost weird. :) Course it could be the fact that I had to start work at 5:45 this morning. I could just have that lack of sleep buzz going on. LOL.
Girlie: I took your advice and found spelt bread and spelt hamburger buns. Those taste pretty good. I have to go to a specialty store for the spelt pretzels and stuff. I live in a small town so natural foods like that
seem to be somewhat limited in selection around here and it is an hour drive to the nearest health food store.
:( bummer on one hand, but cool that I know it exists on the other.
Sarah: that is really weird about your fingers swelling. Are you sure that you are not allergic to the metal or something?
Stacey: And the countdown begins! It won't be long now it'll fly right by.
Well gotta run. to much to do and no time at all! Chat with you all later.

Hi, it seems I'm not doing a very good job of keeping up! I work nights and you ladies work days!
Emily: how is the new eating plan going, without the wheat etc? What have you been doing instead of what you used to have?
I liked the tanning question but I wasn't sure how to answer, so I put "other". I'm half black and half Japanese, so I'm already looking "tanned" already, but I do get darker and more golden wheat rather than just wheat...
I have been on WW for almost three weeks now. I'm sort of averaging 1lb a week.....not quick enough for me, but supposedly this is supposed to be a good rate.
What types of patterns do you guys get, at least when you were first starting out?
I started a 3 week crunch course today...it's going to be tough, but only for 3 weeks. Plus, we get to go to an American Indian PowWow for a trip...that should be interesting!
Talk to you all soon!

Aargh, I'm stressed. I start teaching tomorrow and summer courses just kill me. I know I'll be fine once I get into it but right now I can't help but wonder how I'm supposed to lecture for 1.5 hours tomorrow, and the next day, and the next day...do I really have that much to say about neurobiology? :?:
And I'll blame it on the stress that I ordered a papa john's pizza today and ATE THE WHOLE THING--I haven't done that in months. But I know it was stress over class combined with relationship woes (the guy i'm dating is getting more serious than i am which makes me feel guilty)...it just makes me revert to my old habits. 56 points for the pizza which I just ate on all day. Yuck.
Shalyne--I didn't meet the guy I'm currently dating until after I had lost most of my weight so he's only known me as a size eight (not the size sixteen that I was 8 months ago). I feel no need to tell him, and would in fact feel distinctly uncomfortable bringing it up. He's been wanting to see some pictures from my trip to europe in the fall and I've even been reluctant so far to show them to him.
congrats to all you "losers" this week--I gained 0.2.

Heather you might as well show him the pics
if he likes you as an 8 that you are now why would it be a problem that you were a 16? you are worrying too much about it
as for the summer class its the first day talk for 45 min and then let em loose on the world
dont sweat the pizza
do you have access to your schools gym?

Well, I worked till 8pm today (an extra 3 hours) just so I could clear this one thing off my desk and feel as if I accomplished *something*. Now I only have 56 tax returns sitting on my desk waiting to be prepared. That's the biggest work load I've *ever* had, even during the heart of busy season when I was working 70 hour weeks. :(
To make my day all that much better I finally realized why my eye has been bugging me all day. Lo and behold, my contact lens had ripped in half in my eye! Now it still feels like a piece of it is stuck up there somewhere. My hubby had me dunking my head under a sink full of water and opening and shutting my eyes trying to dislodge it.
On a brighter note: I'm at 22 points today. Thank heavens for small celebrations.
Heather: That's a heck of a lot of lecturing going on! I used to TA accounting when I was in grad school, I had a 50 minute class (with a small lecture portion) once a week (3 classes, but I just repeated the same stuff each time). It used to take forever to prepare for those little lectures, I can only imagine preping 1 1/2 hours 5 days a week! Have you done this class before so you have stuff all ready to roll? Definitely don't sweat the pizza, it happens! The trick is to make sure you get back to "normal" right away, instead of letting it roll downhill like a big snowball.
Girlie: The first time around when I lost weight on WW I used to lose two weeks, and then maintain/stay the same for 2 weeks, and so on. I believe I averaged about 1 pound per week in general, but I was not completely religious about the program, I tried to be sensible, but still live life, if you know what I mean. Slow is good, it means you're learning to live with it and you're making a lifestyle change instead of going for a quick fix.
KO: good luck getting the paid internship! Your dinner sounded yummy. Pardon my ignorance, what's xenical?
Stacey: I should try that Lean Cuisine pizza... It's hard to find a good low cal frozen pizza. I do make my own though, and those are scrumptious!
Emily: Good luck with your new diet. How'd day one go point-wise?
Jen: Congrats on the weight loss. Yarkwork is kind of satisfying, isn't it? Even if you are stiff and sore afterwards, but you've got all of those pretty flowers to look at when you're done. :)
Ok, hi to everyone else! Gotta get my butt to bed otherwise I'm going to have one heck of a time functioning tomorrow!
