GOOD MONDAY MORNING EVERYONE!

Just a quickie for now, getting ready to go for my walk, but wanted to get in my MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY contribution,, which is:

BUILDING BLOCKS

The substance of success is deceptively easy. It comes in the small, seemingly insignificant moments. When those moments are combined and directed toward a goal, success is achieved.

The fundamental essence of achievement is available to anyone. It doesn't usually require great strength or great intelligence or extraordinary skill. The most magnificent achievements spring from the most ordinary moments, when all those moments are directed toward the achievement.

Over the next few hours, you will face numerous decisions. The vast majority of these decisions will seem trivial. Yet when you consistently make decisions in a focused and intentional manner, fully aware of their combined consequences, those small, easy actions can lead to great and lasting success at anything you choose to pursue.

The moments of your life are the fundamental building blocks of success and achievement. Each one is easy to manipulate. Each one is important. Put them all together in just the right way, and you'll build something great.

What do you expect?
When you expect good things to happen you'll find the good in whatever happens. Expect to have a productive day and you'll do whatever it takes to make the day productive.
Most circumstances are inherently neither good nor bad. They are mostly what you make of them. When you're determined to achieve, the circumstances will work in your favor because you'll find a way to make them work in your favor.

Are you waiting for a reason to be positive? Here's a reason. Be positive, and expect great things for yourself, because it will bring richness and fulfillment to your life. When the circumstances seem to be working against you, that's even more reason to be positive, because it will enable you to turn those circumstances in your favor.

You'll get what you truly expect. So why would you ever want to expect anything less that the very best?

-- Ralph Marston

I will be MIA for most of the week as this is our final week at work before we convert to SACS. This system is entirely new in Accounting, but a state requirement. In addition, we are also implementing a new environment to work from. Needless to say, any extra curricular activities are going to be minimal. I am going to try to keep up with you during my lunch hour.

Hope all is well, Nance welcome home. Email me directly if you need me.

"It is one of the strange ironies of this strange
life that those who work the hardest, who
subject themselves to the strickest discipline,
who give up certain pleasurable things in order
to achieve a goal, are the happiest people.
When you see 20 or 30 people line up for a
distance race in some meet, don't pity them,
don't feel sorry for them. Better envy
them instead."

Yesterday, I made it through a whole day OP. Yeah! What a great way to start the week! This is my new mantra, "Take it one step at a time, (in my case a step is one meal)!
:) :) :)

I have been so busy that I just ralized that we are 9 days and counting until the last day of school!!! I can make it!!!

Hope all of you have a great "Motivational Monday".

Well, I've had an exhausting weekend. I left here Thursday noon and was stretched physically and mentally for the last 3.5 days. We had a great event, with good speakers and a positive response from the event attenders. I didn't much physical exercise in. Basically it was just getting up early (6:30) and getting to bed late (1:00). And getting to sleep even later. I hardly had time to eat, and what I did eat I did not even worry about whether it was OP or not. Basically it was just to get some food in me so my stomach wouldn't growl. As I think back, most of the food probably was not SB legal. Veggies were peas and carrots. We did have salads, but small and plain. Lettuce and a couple of tomato pieces. I spoke right after lunch at one of our sessions and so lunch was delivered to me to eat after the session. Cold sliced "reformed" turkey with cold hard dressing. Cold potatoes, canned gravy, peas and carrots again and a dinner roll. Key lime pie. I ate a few bites of cold peas and carrots and some pie! Yum. LOL

But now I'm back with no huge project in front of me and I can move health matters (eating OP) back up the priority list. This morning already: 25 oz. H2O and low GI pancakes with an orange and some strawberries on it. I tend to eat too few calories if I don't count them. So I think I'm gonna have to be counting. I've said before that I hate to count calories, but it has worked in the past.

SolShine, how are you doing with keeping up with what you are eating, as they suggested at Fitness Coach? What they suggested re. calories worked very well for me about 7 years ago, when I was eating very healthily. I got down to 120 lbs. and because I was working with the weights, I also looked really good. No drooping butt or flabby legs, etc. I basically was eating SB, but didn't know it at the time because I had never heard of SB. I just had to keep up with the calories. When I reached my goal then, I just did like most DIETS--and went back to eating the old bad way.

I'm still working at getting my e-mail all set up with my new address. I now have a web page--only for the purpose of getting e-mail at the address I want. Go to MacGator.com and check it out. Especially all you SEC fans. Pause and meditate on what you see and your day will be truly enriched!!! A friend set this up for me. I won't every have a web site like Chris (**** on Wheels) or some of you others.

I notice that there are a lot of lurkers on our board. Good poll question. I wonder if the lurkers will even "vote". Hope so. When I saw that there were 24 "hits" for this weeks board, I was surprised to see only 3 actual posts.

Hope y'all have a great SB day.

Ok Ladies, I'm back.

Surgery went by the book, which to me is amazing for an 80 year old man. I don't know if I should credit my dad or the surgeon! UCSF is an incredible hospital and the care he is receiving is top notch. Recovery is tough, initially the pain was searing and then he became psychotic from all the meds....and then ornery as h*ll! I'm glad I went and my mom and I did get to enjoy SF a bit. I'd been there several times before, but I have to say, as pretty and fun as it is, too darn many hills!

Weight wise, I was down to 133 right before I left, and now seem to be at 135. So that's a loss of two since we returned from Disney. Now it's totally OP again - big birthday party to attend in early July, would like to be in the 120s by then. Wonder if I can make it?

I got to Trader Joe's in SFO and really enjoyed it, plus picked up a few prepackaged lentil type meals which are low sugar (no sugar!) and I think those will be great for work. I'm going to try them out this week and if I like them, I can justify the 4 hour round trip to Trader Joe's in Fairfield county.

So what's new with everyone around here?
Kim - how are ya?
Deb - now I will have to try the Tomato Splash, I'll remember it whenever I get back.

More later, wanted to thank those of you who wished me and my Dad wel. BTW American Airlines did a great job with my endless flights - the difference in legroom helped a lot!

Did anyone miss me? I had not been able to post for the past week or so. Not even time to really read any posts much. Did scan them briefly. Was a REALLY BAD WEEK. Worked some OT. Ended up my work week with a visit to ER after I tripped over a co-worker's foot & took about a 10 ft dive into the wall, hit my head & landed on my hip. Still hurts. All of this happened in front of the nursing staff during report time & the doctor sitting there dictating. I was sooooo embarrassed. But thank God nothing broken.

I'm off today & tomorrow, so I'll be back in the swing of things by Wednesday.

Have stayed OP & the scale is still going down. I am sooooooo close to my mini goal I can taste it!! Vacation is less than 2 weeks away, so I am sure that I will make goal the way it's going. Going shopping for new clothes today & meet DH for lunch.

Need to start packing. We leave for New Smyrna Beach, FL on June 1st!!! Can't wait. One whole week at the beach.

Well, I'd better get moving...just wanted to check in & let you all know that I have not forgotten you & still hanging in there.

I'm back! Thought I'd get in a quick post before heading out today. Lauren's teacher asked me to come in during lunch to sell tickets for a play the drama class is doing Thursday night, so I'm going to head out to her school in a little while.

I got my 4.5 miles in today. I did 11 short bursts of jogging and found myself being faster than when I did less and longer ones. I did the 4.5 miles in 56.15 minutes-how in the world I ever did my best time just walking, I'll never know. Maybe the heat makes you go slower-it's so hot out there, even at 7:30am!

NANCE, glad to have you back. Sounds like you had a great weekend-gosh how I'd love to have some of that cool weather down here! Hopefully, if you make that cake, you'll have better self control with it than I did!!!:o

LDBLOND, thanks for that motivational thought-you can spend hours on RM's site, can't you?!? Hope your transition at work goes smoothly!

ICESKATE, great motivational thought! Thanks for posting it! Congrats on staying OP for the day, keep repeating your mantra:) Our kids down here don't get out of school until the 13th of June, so I've got a little while before I have to start worrying what I'm going to do with them.

GATOR, the poll will be interesting to see when the week is at end, I'd love for those who lurk to vote-I think they have to be registered, but I'm not sure. I'll check out your webpage!

VIV, WELCOME BACK!!!! So happy to hear the surgery was a success! Is your Dad back at home yet? Glad to know you are back OP. You can definitely make your goal by July if you stay OP 100%-remember what you were able to accomplish before your FL trip! If I had a TJ's within 4 hours from my house, I'd surely make it a habit of going once a month. I'd take a huge cooler-their frozen foods are wonderful and I can NEVER buy them since I live so far from one. Next time you go, let me know and I'll send you "my favorite TJ's" list:)

MELF, of course we missed you!!!:D I can sympathize with your nice trip you had, I hit my head 2 Saturdays ago with the car door, and Michael tripped and fell Thursday night and we ended up at the ER for his foot-so putting us together reminds me of your mishap. Hope your hip feels better soon :) So, to Florida you are coming? I hope you have a wonderful time in the Sunshine State and have great weather! It's brutally hot down here, at least it is in Miami, so no sweaters needed!

Well gals, I'm outta here for a few hours. I'll check in with you all later.

TOODLES!

Good Morning Everyone!

Hope all is well, and everyone is rested, ready to start a new week!

Again, I am motivational mondayless.....no words of wisdom, as I am trying to soak in all the wisdom that has been posted.

When I think of motivation, I wonder what motivates most people. Some are motivated by negative, some are motivated by positive, some have their own inner strength. I couldn't ever quite figure out what personally motivates me, otherwise I probably would have started this WOE a long time ago. I think I usually respond when I feel like someone really cares about me. Sometimes that can inspire me...or when I see someone else have passion for what they are doing, that can be very inspiring.

I wonder how many of us are doing what we really want to be doing in our lives. How many of us had dreams of becoming something when we were growing up and ended up doing something completely different.
If we all had a script of what our lives were going to be like, would we be happy with our story? I think the most powerful tool we have, is the power to change. I read a quote out of a magazine this weekend and it really got me thinking:

Whatever you fear most has no power-it is your fear that has the power

I guess that is why they say "your mind is a powerful thing". What would we do, if we had no fear. WHat would we want to accomplish? When I had asked if anyone had a fear of loosing weight, there were several responses. What does loosing body weight represent?
A change...and it's definately a change for the better. We all know that, yet many of us struggle. I think there is a reason why most of us are overweight, and it has to do with our self-worth, self-esteem. It has to do with loving ourselves enough to make a change. Putting ourselves first for a change. Taking control of our lives.
For the longest time I thought loosing weight was for everyone else. I couldn't even identify with people who had once been overweight, and were now skinny because I thought they were now "one of them", a thin person. Whatever issues I have to deal with on this journey, I feel that I am now in a much safer place, a place where I can share these odd fears, and move forward with the support of this awesome group. I know it's not going to be easy, temptation is always there, but each day is a new fresh start.

Well, I found a recipe for healthy Oatmeal Raisin cookies sweetened with applesauce on the Quaker Oats web site. Vince made them and they were sufficiently bland, but, of course, our friends thought they were wonderful! They had made an equally bland bunt cake using carrot pulp. We had fun tromping through the woods though. Found what would be some cool “forts” if we were kids again and going to be “hanging out” in the woods. The pond was mostly dried up. How sad! That’s how freakin’ dry it is down here. We had to smell forest fire smoke halfway to the country because of the fires down near Disney. Terribly uncomfortable breathing.

Wendell worked my butt off this morning on the weights! We started with calf raises on this little wooden block. I stretch my calves a lot and do calf raises on the curb sometimes, but they want you to go really slow and this morning my calves were burning like those fires. He pushed me so hard I’m kinda concerned about not working hard enough when I’m on my own. I’ve only got 4 more 1 on 1 sessions left and I know I would’ve talked myself out of pushing as hard as he had me go.

We went to see Blow this week-end. It’s very good. I perfect illustration of the choices we make and the consequences of those choices as mentioned in Debbie’s quote from Ralph Marston today. What makes it that much more interesting is it’s based on a true story. We also watched “Men of Honor” another true story with much better decisions and consequences.

I’ve noticed the past few days that I’m always wanting to yawn or at least get that great big gasp of air like at the end of a yawn. Does this happen to anyone else? Anyone know why that might be or what to do about it? Just breathing deeply doesn’t seem to do it for me.

DEBBIE – Dontcha just love hanging out in the ER?? I hope Michael’s ankle heals quickly. Loved the quote from Ralph Marston. I must make this famous sponge cake!! Is the recipe out on the threads?

BOB - OOOOOHHHH!! We call that guy at our workplace the “Network ****”. He monitors everyone’s internet usage and blocks outside e-mail sites and porn. He most likely went to 3FC and KNEW that it wasn’t porn. NOW, we DID have 2 guys from here fired for looking at “older, fat ladies porn sites”. One of the guys was only about 21 years old, too. (Being in the IS Dept. I get more gossip than I really need sometimes). I’m sure with your work-ethic they know that you weren’t abusing the privilege. You sure do have a way with words, though!! LOL!! If your Network **** WANTS some sites like that, just let me know…… Sorry you’ve had an especially challenging week. Whine all you want on here – that’s what we’re here for! You’re on the wagon and that weight will come back off! I’ve been reading “The Schwarzbein Principle” and it is a very nice supplement to the SB book – she explains the medical/scientific stuff behind this WOE and has lots of great information. I hope your trip includes lots of R&R!! We’ll certainly miss you while you’re gone!

FROG – How’d it go with the MIL??? Did she give up and shut up? MIL and Spewer in one week – You’re a brave woman!

MARIE – What’s the countdown to England? I hope your grandson’s wrist heals quickly.

AUNT LOLLIE – sounds like a fun place to be!! Have fun with your nieces! I’m sure you’ll have great reports from your well-woman exam. I hate having those done, but I most especially hate the squishing. Liked the quote!! It’s sooo true.

ICESKATEFAN – MMMmmmm your rib enchiladas sounds yummy!! I started my herb garden and this week-end made some pico de gallo with fresh onion, tomato, jalapanos, cilantro and lemon juice. May have to add the black beans next time. SB WOE is definitely not a ‘diet’ – as in something you do for a little while to reach a goal. It’s a lifestyle – a healthy way of eating to stay healthy and avoid health problems, premature aging, etc. I think you’ll be glad you stayed with it later on. I bring my lunch every day. I’m a grazer so I eat every few hours at work. I bring those portable little packages of cottage cheese to have with a piece of fruit mid-morning – salad with bagged Triscuits for lunch – nuts, fruit or more Triscuits for mid-afternoon. I buy the 2 lb. bags of frozen chicken tenderloins and spray my non-stick pan with some PAM, put a few tenderloins in (you don’t have to thaw them :) ) , sprinkle some Tony Cachere’s seasoning on them and have Chicken Caesar Salad, Chicken Sandwich, Chicken Salad, or just plain chicken tenderloin strips with a bowl of soup. These can cook while I’m getting ready in the morning or fixing my breakfast. It’s quick, easy, versatile – my kind of cooking! (I also still eat PB&J’s from time to time) My office is usually cold enough for cryogenic experiments so I don’t have to worry about putting things in the refrigerator.

CHERI – Good to hear from you! Thanks for checking in with us!

SPARKLE – LOL!!! I don’t want to start seeing Hair Wax on your list of lunch suggestions for ICESKATEFAN! I wanted to make my hair a darker auburn color once, well, it turned out that black/plum color those gothic babes wear. Next to my whitey-white skin I did look gothic! Sooooooo, I called Miss Clairol’s 1-800 line and they told me how to lighten it, but I left the stuff on too long and it turned into a pumpkin color…..SOOOOOoooooo another call to Clairol ……… I finally got it right, but by then my scalp was sooo tender and sore I didn’t want to take a shower again. My scalp started peeling and it was rough for a few days, but the color turned out so good I got so many compliments on it. It’s a shame they don’t bottle THAT color. :D Can’t wait to hear about your date!

NANCEMEISTER – Welcome back!! Glad you had a good time and your planned food worked out well. I treat myself to 1 soft drink a day (usually lunch), but lately I’ve noticed it’s almost too sweet and I don’t usually drink the whole thing anymore. (Can’t believe I’m saying something is too sweet!!!) You always ask the most provoking questions. Always stirring up something, aren’t you?? :s: My life is NOTHING like what I planned way back when, and I didn’t always have the best time getting here, but I’m perfectly content with where I am and where I’m headed now and wouldn’t change that for the world. Am I glad to be overweight? NO! Am I working on it? YES! Will getting upset about it help? NO! So, I have the attitude that this is where I am and I’m working on getting to where I want to be and I’m going to enjoy each day on the journey realizing, too, that I’m not perfect and will have some bad days thrown in there (Momma promised we’d have them, remember?).

VIV – Welcome back!! Glad things went by the book!

GATORGAL – I love going to The Fitness Coach! Thank you!!!! I started with their plan, but had to move things around so much I was going to make my own forms like theirs, just blank so I could add things in, but I haven’t done it yet. I was counting calories, but didn’t do it this week-end. I need to get back to doing that. I’m darn serious about getting my weight down. I’ll check out the website – Hope there is a huge picture of an MSU BullDawg on there!!

MELF – Thanks for checking in with us. Glad to hear things are going well with the eating – Sorry to hear about your run in with the wall. Glad you weren’t hurt physically. Sometimes that wounded ego hurts just as bad, though. :) Bring lots of lightweight clothes!! It’s HOT down here!! And, if you go to Canaveral Seashore be careful, part of that is a Nudie beach!

This seemed "timely" for us gals!

A philosophy professor stood before his class and had some items in front of him. When class began, wordlessly, he picked up a large empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with rocks; rocks about 2" in diameter. He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.

So, the professor then picked up a box of pebbles, and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles, of course, rolled into the open area between the rocks. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed that it was. The students laughed.

The professor picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else.

"Now," said the professor, " I want you to recognize that this is your life. The rocks are the important things - your family, your partner, your health, and your children -- anything that is so important to you that if it were lost, you would be devastated. The pebbles are the other things that matter, like your job, your house, your car. The sand is everything else . . . the small stuff."

He continued, "If you put the sand into the jar first, there is no room for the pebbles or the rocks. The same goes for life. If you spend all your energy and time on the small stuff, you will never have room for the things that are important to you.

Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Play with your children. Take time to get medical check-ups. Take your partner out dancing. There will be time to go to work, clean the house, give a dinner party, and fix the disposal.

Take care of the rocks first -- the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand."

It's Mind Over Matter - And Your Body's the Matter! (http://fitnesslink.com/mind/matter.shtml)
--by John Abdo © FitnessLink. May not be reprinted without permission.

Getting, and staying, motivated about a fitness lifestyle is a wrestling match every fitness enthusiast experiences at one time or another. Even world-class athletes lose their focus from time to time and struggle to keep themselves "mentally" on track. But don't think about throwing in the towel just yet. There are plenty of proven solutions, and they're easier than you think!

My chief role as a fitness consultant doesn't only include instructing exercise sessions. I must also integrate a variety of motivational, or mind conditioning, tools which inspire, educate and move each of my students into productive and enjoyable workouts that yield incredible results. Over the years, I've learned how to use these tools to train my students' minds so that they can train their bodies.

It should come as no surprise that there really is such a thing as the "mind-body connection" - the psychophysiological mechanism that acts as the driving force behind all voluntary and involuntary actions of the body. When the mind is conditioned - possessing the motivational power and knowledge that enables one to enthusiastically and confidently approach their exercise and eating programs - the body responds over time by manifesting its genetic potential. I refer to this as a re-engineering process.

In my book, Body Engineering, I reveal many of the techniques that can help you become your own body engineer. I'd like to share one of the exercises here, so grab a pen and paper because you're going back to school, and I'm your new teacher!

Complete the following exercise step-by-step, in the exact order listed below.

STEP 1: The first thing you must do is understand that it's imperative to train your brain so that you can train your body. A weak mind will equal a weak body, but a strong mind will build a healthy, lean and vibrant body. Once you understand this key principle you are well on your way to re-engineering the way you look and feel.

STEP 2: Every day - did you hear me? I said every day - you must write your goals on a piece of paper. If you have one goal ("I want to lose 4 inches off my waist"), write that one down. If you have several goals, commit all of them to paper on a daily basis. Something magical happens when the brain generates a thought and the body records it onto paper. This exercise converts a hermit lodged in your brain into a jet-set traveler who takes residence in all the tissues of your body.

STEP 3: After you write your goals down, read them out loud - every day. Again, there's a phenomenon that occurs when you profess what you want. Simply wishing a goal in silence has no stimulating power. Stand up in front of a mirror, assume the role of your own coach or motivator, and say with conviction, "You are going to keep exercising to lose this fat and, you know what young lady?, you're making progress every day!"

STEP 4: How willing are you? Make two lists: A) All of the things you need to do to achieve your goals; and B) All of the things you must avoid to achieve your goals. For example: A) I need to take advantage of my health club membership, walk every morning, etc.; and B) I need to cut out sugar, quit having dessert late at night, etc.

STEP 5: Make a date with yourself. Treat yourself once a week. Follow your fitness program as strictly as you can all week, but reward yourself on a weekly basis so that you do not feel deprived.

STEP 6: Seek wise advice from a personal trainer or other health/fitness authority who can properly assess your current status and guide you throughout your re-engineering process.

STEP 7: Don't get discouraged. This will only prevent you from getting back on track. Everybody - even the pro's - slip off track at times. As long as you become steadfast, always getting yourself back on track after being derailed, pat yourself on the back, lift your chin, and go for it all over again.

Let me conclude by saying that investing in yourself pays huge dividends down the road. Put it in your head first then watch your body mold into the image in your mind.

Hi I am new here and would like to join you. I have been put on the Sugar Busters Diet by my doctor. I am 34 years old and I am desperately trying to conceive our first child via IVF. I have recently found out I have PCOS and that I am insulin resistant. I am taking gloucophage and hoping with the meds and the new eating habits I can finally shed some weight and just start feeling better in general. My RE (Infertility Doctor) wants me to lose 25lbs in 6 weeks. I think this is unrealistic.

Today is my first day on this new way of eating and so far so good I think. I went to Vegas this weekend so I didn't think that was a good time to start :) I saw above that someone had pancakes. Is this by using WW Flour? This is going to take some time to get use to I guess.

I would love any hints, tips or anything to keep me on track. My favorite food is potatoes and pasta.

How your healthy self body image can help you lose weight (http://caca.***************/selfbodyimage_rhzy.htm)

The term "losing weight" seems to usually have negative connotations. A lot of times when people think of "losing weight," they think of people starving themselves, never eating any "junk food" or eating anything "tasty" again, eating only vegetables and exercising six hours a day.

However, it doesn't have to be like that. There are ways in which a person can lose weight and not go overboard. After all, everything in moderation. You should not go on a diet, severely limiting your intake of food. You should change your eating habits, forever. You should never restrict your eating so much that you could not do it forever. If you do, you are just setting yourself up to regain the weight back, since you already know that you can not keep up the restricted intake forever.

One great way to lose weight is to exercise and eat healthy NOT for the sake of losing weight. If a person just eats healthy and exercises just for the reason of being healthy, she is a lot more likely to lose weight than if she is doing so with the intent of losing twenty pounds. If a person is exercising and eating healthy and dieting to lose weight, there will (hopefully) come a time when they have reached their goal weight. What do they do after they reach their goal weight? They never intended to always exercise so much and eat so little FOREVER! Unfortunately, what happens a lot of times when people diet and go crazy with exercise is that either they can't keep it up, or once they reach their goal weight, they go back to their old exercising and dieting habits and gain back all the weight that they had lost, maybe more.

Don't be a victim to this trap! First of all, even if you are overweight, realize that you are beautiful!! Wear outfits that really flatter you, do your makeup and hair- see yourself as beautiful! Once you realize that you are beautiful even with a little excess weight and you think to yourself, "Even if I always weighed this weight, I'd still think I look good," you are on your way!! If you can seriously say that to yourself, then you are already halfway there.

Once you do have that kind of self-esteem, you are more than likely going to WANT to exercise, because people with high self-esteem think highly of themselves, respect themselves, want themselves to be healthy, and want to take care of themselves! Well, one way to take care of yourself is to eat healthy and exercise! If you do really have high self-esteem, you will want your body to be healthy. Remember, don't exercise to lose weight- exercise because you want to have a healthy body! Read up on all the books and ask your doctor what the health benefits of exercising are to you-- if you have high self-esteem, you want to do what is right for your body- you respect your body!

Again, everything should be in moderation. And start SLOW! If you have not exercised in months or even years, do not try to run ten miles on the treadmill the first day at the gym! Start slow, because any exercise is better than none! You have your whole life to work up to exercising harder and faster and longer. The key to exercise when it comes to lose weight (or just for health reasons) is consistency anyhow. Maybe you could start with just three times a week, for about 20 minutes each time, maybe just walking on the treadmill at a moderate speed. If you start too fast, you probably won't keep up with it (you will think that you will not be able to handle this daily, as it may be too tiring), and then usually, that is when people give up. Also, if you start too fast, and do too much too soon, you could seriously injure yourself, and if that happens, then you will not be able to be consistent and keep up with your exercise program!

Start slow, and work up to more. Maybe just add 5 minutes every week to your work out, or add an extra day or two.

As for your diet, you also do want to start slow with this. If you start your first day with absolutely no sweets at all, and you are used to eating many sweets, you are probably going to feel deprived and want to give up, and binge on junk food the next day, or maybe even the same day! All deserts aren't even, they can be satisfying, just make sure that you limit yourself. Maybe just let yourself have one or two deserts a week. Learn about the food pyramid and what acceptable servings and portions are. Load up on vegetables and fruits.

Just remember, everything in moderation, and you can use your healthy self-image to lose weight!

Evening Everyone!

NANCE, SOL & SPARKLE, thanks for those motivational thoughts you posted-we sure have been busy beavers looking for things to post today, haven't we!!! NANCE, how can you say you were Motivational Mondayless??? SPARKLE, 2 things in one day-just like you to over due it! LOL!!!! SOL, not only your mind got a work out, but your body too!!

SOL, yes, the WW SPONGE CAKE is on the MAY RECIPE BOARD. I'm planning on actually trying to make it all by myself tonight. If you see smoke coming up from the south, it may not be a brush fire!  Let me know if you do make it! Sounds like you had a fun weekend, despite the bland foods:) I'm checking out a few new cookies recipes and will let you and the others know when I find a new one I think is worth sharing.

TIGGERME, WELCOME TO THE BOARD!!!! Glad you've joined us and thanks for posting your BIO on the BIO BOARD!!!:) We'll be more than happy to help you out in any way we can. Please make sure you check out the informative boards that we have, there's lots of great information on them, as well as the recipe boards. The links to the boards are in the very first post at the top of this page. I would have to tend to agree with you that your Dr.s expectations are far fetched-he must have no clue on losing weight! What's the significance in you losing that much weight in such a short period of time? Tell him you can do your best, but what he expects from you is a bit far fetched. You can lose weight following SB, but I haven't seen anyone lose 25lbs that fast. The recipe for those pancakes mentioned are on the May 2000 board from last year, the very first recipe posted. They aren't made with WW flour, but there are other pancake recipes on the board that are made with WW flour. Potatoes and pasta, well, sweet potatoes are fine, in moderation and same goes with pasta, as long as it's WW. Again don't hesitate to ask us any questions along the way-we're more than happy to help!! Again, WELCOME!:)

Okay, I'm off to the kitchen to attempt this sponge cake on my own! Wish me luck everyone!!!!!

Marie I’ll put “Son of the Circus” on my reading list. Hmmm...your post about cake got me to thinking about the joint bday bbq that Martin wants to throw for the two of us. It would be lovely to have cake for my own bday and I’m sure by then my creative and devious mind can come up with something grand. Maybe a cheesecake with fresh strawberries in an agave nectar glaze, yum and double yum.

Deb, yep that haircolor episode was pretty blonde all right. I’m going to end up spending as much on it as if I got it done professionally, and I hardly have any hair to worry about in the first place. This morning instead of being bozo the clown red, it was more of a bright orange. So I’m still going to have to fix it. I’m thinking of a purple plum type color.

BTW, I’m awfully excited that you are on the brink of your goal!!!!

Nancy, I’m glad you had fun camping. I’m going camping 2 days for Memorial day weekend next week. And horseback riding for the first time in ten years!!!! I’m so excited! We are going to Kualoa Ranch, a beautiful destination on the North Shore of Oahu. We were quite lucky to get such a nice spot on this popular weekend.

Lara, good luck with the conversion process!

iceskatefan, congrats for your day OP!

Gator, well, from what I can see you have a domain name, an image and a web counter which is always a start! ;) Remember Chris knew nothing when she started too...but that was five years ago. I’m still having some major problems getting my mouseover buttons to work on my new site redesign.......grrrrr.

Viv, glad your Dad is doing well.

Mary, inspiring to hear you’re doing well with your program. I’m always more concerned with being embarrassed than hurt too, but I’m glad you’re okay.

SolShine, you said “Well, I found a recipe for healthy Oatmeal Raisin cookies sweetened with applesauce on the Quaker Oats web site. Vince made them and they were sufficiently bland, but, of course, our friends thought they were wonderful! They had made an equally bland bunt cake using carrot pulp.” LMAO! Hey at least you tried. I find that a little Splenda, added to the natural sweetness of the fruit, works well. But I’m trying to stay away from baked goods altogether. Glad your weight training is coming along, and LMAO at the “Network ****” story! I think I’m going to end up with purple hair myself at this rate...

I printed out your sand pebbles rocks story and hung it up in the coffee room.

Tiggerme, WELCOME to the forum!!! I wish you every success in all your endeavors. I see from your “signature” that you are indeed fairly motivated to conceive a child. Well I was posting a while back a little of my own feelings about being at peace with the possibility of remaining child-free. I’m 27, single and would like to have a child someday. But if it doesn’t happen, I have other things in my life that are of importance, like my other relationships, my dreams of writing, my career. Sometimes I get stuck on one goal and nothing seems to matter until that goal is accomplished. But the importance of the goal is only in my head. So........relax. If it was meant to happen, it will. “Failed” is a strong word and has a lot of power over your self-esteem. How can you fail over something over which you have no control???

***

Thanks to everyone for the motivational comments. Very inspiring.

Well, my first date in gosh knows how many months (!!!) went very well. He picked a secluded, little-known restaurant on the other side of the island. We hit it off right away, and he made sure we got a special table overlooking the pond. I was nervous about my food choices. I had half-pre-eaten a chicken salad because I didn’t want to be too hungry, but not too full. I ordered a virgin bloody mary at the bar, which lasted a long time and was quite refreshing. I ended up getting a beef salad that was excellent, and the neatest part was that he ended up ordering the same thing, and didn’t touch the bread, so that we BOTH had an SB legal meal without my even mentioning it! (Except for the beer he drank). I did later have a little bit of rum but overall I can’t believe how well it went, from a food perspective. From another perspective, it’s too early too tell and I’m not expecting anything to happen, but certainly it was the best first date in a long time.

Now it’s back to the grind.....feeling a bit grouchy about work these days, but like a fever, it will pass.

Toodles,

Chris

No I haven't dropped off the face the earth. Thank you for your email Deb. You certainly do go above and beyond the call of duty. You're a treasure.

I have basically been OP. A couple weekends in a row I cheated like CRAZY eating desserts. And I didn't gain an oz. I am down to my lowest and I don't want to lose any more!! Sounds crazy doesn't it? I have been getting soooooo many comments on my weight loss. Another thing..I've come to LOVE the treadmill. I have even started running for 10 minutes in the middle of my workout! Unheard of!!

I see some others have been away for a week or so. I could feel myself slowing getting out of the routine of stopping by the board. Who knows why? I love everybody here and I have gotten so MUCH valuable information and support here. I can't explain what I do sometimes. Possibly because I don't want to talk about my loss. My problems have now shifted to none of my clothes fitting b/c they are too big, everyone telling me I'm wasting away to nothing, what should I eat so I don't lose more. I'm sure no one really wants to hear this, but I think it MIGHT explain why I've kinda stayed away.

I'd like to get caught up on what's going on with everyone. I'm thinking once school is out, I'll have a lot more time, so I may be here on a daily basis. And who knows, all this cheating may catch up with me and I'll need some motivation from you all!!

Good night for now!

Good evening everyone. Just a short note before I trot off for the treadmill. We are expecting rain shortly. I hear the thunder.

Went for lab work today. Will see how my cholesterol, etc has changed since July. Not to get to gross but I had to do a stool kit at home this weekend and dropped it off at the drs today also. I also started taking my ortho-prefest today. Hopefully it will help with the hot flashes and other problems Im having and no create anymore.

I am going munchy crazy. Its a couple days before "ralph" and im craving chocolate like nobody's business. Help I need non food fix if there is such a thing.

Sparkle - glad your date turned out okay. I too have hair horror stories from way back. One time I wanted to streak my hair so I bought some Sun-In and somehow instead of streaks I got spots all over. I looked like a leopard. The hazards of doing it yourself.

Really liked everyone's motivations. So true about taking care of family first. Everything else will fall in place .

Tiggerme- welcome to the board. These ladies are the finest bunch of people you could correspond with. We share joys, sorrows, everything. One big happy family. Deb is one fine lady. She is a real big help when it comes to answering questions about this "woe" (way of eating). Ive been on it since March 8 and have lost a total of 11 lbs. 190/179/135

Oh well Ive rambled on enough. I hear my treadmill calling my name. until later

Hi, Tiggerme, Welcome, You couldn't have found a better board to help get you on your way. These ladies are so inspiring! I have to ask, are you a Pooh fan???

Okay, we haven't had rain here in a very long time, so I am trying to make it rain...I had another whole day OP!!! I guess I am getting ready to jump up on that wagon. Is there still room up there for me???

Thanks for all the motivation from all of you. Look at this, I even posted twice in the same day!!! :)

I'll try to check in again tomorrow! I'm off to bed...4:30 comes quickly...

I'm not among the losers lately, except that it's my loss that I haven't been around lately. It's been almost a month since I've been here, in fact. I haven't gained, haven't lost, and have been doing SB about half the time. I need to be punished, but I'm having one of those weird times. At least when I'm off plan, I'm not pigging out. Some small comfort there.

I am still looking forward to my July wedding. We have his daughter's wedding on June 2 to get thru first. It is going to be fun. We are going to Maine and New Hampshire for the honeymoon...thought it would beat Louisiana in late July.

School is out in 2 weeks, maybe I will have time to post then. Also get my butt back on plan. I'm just a loosey goosey lately and don't even really care. It was good to see all of the familiar names and some new ones. I'll be talking to you later. Thanks for checking on me, Deb!

Big orange I keep missing your posts. :(
Tell us more about that book you were reading about God's diet. Does God "make" cottage cheese? How about bread? Cheese and bread were in the Bible. Does that mean God made them? I know He made wheat, but I can't imagine eating wheat kernels! What about butter?

SolShine Glad you're liking your workouts. Wendell can work you hard! Did he tell you about breathing? He always does. "It's not unlady like to really breath hard. Your muscles need oxygen." I know what you mean about pushing yourself that hard with no trainer. I don't know if I could do it either. What you will need is a training partner who WILL push you that hard.

Chris All your stuff for MMon. looks really interesting. I don't have time to read it all now, but I definitely will go back and read it. You write interesting posts.

Welcome Tiggerme! - This is a great place for support and Debbie is a terrific super chick moderator who is always willing to answer our questions. You and I have some things in common - I was told I have PCOS, but that was 14 years ago when I was trying to get pregnant. If you think the doctors don't know much about it now, you can imagine back then! That's part of the reason I decided to try this WOE. I quit the fertility treatments when they said I had to give myself injections and there could be multiple births. I just couldn't go that far. We have made our family through adoption and are thrilled to have our son. I understand, then, how sensitive a subject this is, but I wanted to comment on how you signed your post. You haven't failed at anything--you just haven't been lucky. You already know how complex the process of fertilization is. For those of us with just one small glitch in our systems, it can be impossible. So please don't look at it as a failure, because YOU are not a failure. We are all here to listen and offer support, so I hope you are able to stop in and read the posts and post often!

I'm kind of on a downward slide right now. My TOM is due or past-due (I never know when I'll get it) and my hormones are all over the place. I actually dived off the wagon and had a SMALL piece of cake today. I spent so much time making it yesterday that I decided I would have it. First time I've had something like that since January. So, now I've got to get BOB to move over on the wagon and make room for me. BOB, are you reading? You better look out because I'm going to grab on tight!!!LOL

Well, time to get to bed. Hope everyone has a great week!

Quickie...

Way past my bedtime, have to be up early in the morning and want to get in my walk before I go with Eli to an early Dr. appt and then to Ole Ole for lunch followed by Carbolite for dessert (I'm so predictable, NANCE knew I would be going there).

Before I forget, I made the cake, came out almost as good as when my Mom makes it-almost 1/2 gone. When this one is gone, I vow not to make it for a few weeks. Even though it's really low cal, carb and fat, I just seem not to be able to stop eating it!

SPARKLE, sounds like you had a nice date. I hope he calls you again. How did you meet him to go out with him? Hope the new hair color is what you want!!!

OVERCOME, glad to see you alive and well and still kicking! I can't believe how lucky you are to be eating a bunch of desserts and NOT gain a pound-you've truly been blessed! I'd look cross-eyed at a dessert and gain! Come, kibbutz (talk) on the board any time, we want to hear about the clothes problems! It's what we all hope to be complaining about one day soon!!!!!

CAT, Ralph? LOL!!!! I get ravenously hungry right before my TOM as well. Just eat as you feel you need to, but just make sure it's all SB legal. I go nuts with carbs, some say adding protein helps. For me, it passes in a day or so. I just went through that Saturday.

ICESKATE, day 2 OP, way to go!!!

MARGARET, thanks for checking in-did I make you feel a tad guilty? Hey, at least you haven't gained! You have so many things coming around in the near future, I'm sure the board isn't one of your top priorities. BUT, we love when you come on once in a while and say hello :) Keep us abreast of the wedding plans!

KAREN, seems not only people want to join BOB on the wagon, but everyone seems to be ravenous when their TOM rolls around, or in your case, late! Try my cake recipe, that way, if you want it, at least you know it's SB legal.

Nite all!

Hi everyone :)

Just a quickie. I am off to-day but have a lot of running around to do including a dental appointment this afternoon. It's going to be a busy week. I have to get to the hairdressers some time, babysitting tomorrow afternoon and some shopping I have to do before my holiday. I leave for England two weeks to-day, on June 5th. I am happy to report that I am down 2 pounds to 198. :D I was beginning to think that I would never get down into the NINETIES. I thought I'd report it to-day in case it is up again by Wednesday!

The board was very active yesterday. I enjoyed reading all the Motivational posts.

Viv - Glad to hear your Dad's surgery went well and hope he continues to improve.

Melf - Yes, I missed you. I was just wondering about you as we hadn't heard from you for a while. Sorry to hear about your fall. Hope you are not too sore.

Tiggerme - Welcome to the board.

Sparklescamp - Glad to hear your date went well.

I am thinking about you all even though I can't post to everyone.

Gotta run. Will check in again later.

Good Tuesday Morning Everyone!

Just a quickie, as I sit here cooling down before I hit the shower. Was able to get in 3.5 miles this morning, 11 small spurts of jogging-41 minutes was my time. I'm sweating and probably stinking like a pig!

ROSALIE, CONGRATULATIONS!!! I can't tell you just how happy I am for you and what good news that was to hear to start my day!!!!!!!!:spin: I'm going to do a happy dance for you!!!! Just look below, there I am! You must of been soooo happy!!!!! I'm sure I can say for the entire board that we are really proud of you!!!!!!!!

Okay, and on that note, I must run! I'll be back later on today. Don't forget, TOMORROW IS WEIGH IN WEDNESDAY!!!!

Have a great day!

TIGGERME – I, too, have PCOS, high insulin and weight loss problems. I’m 32 years old and I just found out in March and my Endocrinologist put me on Glucophage and the SB Diet. I have only lost 2 lbs and I’ve been pretty darn faithful to the plan. I’ve been reading “The Schwarzbein Principle” which is a good, thorough compliment to the SB plan. She explains a lot more about insulin and how our bodies metabolize what we eat. The amount of weight your doctor wants you to lose is 4.16 lbs per week. That is totally unsafe and unrealistic. Anything more than about 2 lbs./week is cutting into your lean muscle mass. I’ll get the paragraph from the book if I can find it. Generally we may lose more weight the first couple of weeks on a diet because excess water is moving out if we’re drinking our water and/or cutting our sodium. Check out the information Debbie referred to at the top of the thread and you’ll find lots of information and answers to questions you may have. This is a great place to be! Glad to have you aboard.

DEBBIE – Glad the sponge cake turned out well! I didn’t see any smoke last night so I figured it must be good. I’ve printed it and will attempt it this week-end.

CHRIS – Glad the date went well! Sounds like quite the gentleman making sure you went to the best restaurant for conversation and the best view for your dinner. THAT’S the kind of guy we deserve.

OVERCOME – Glad to hear from you and that you’re at your goal and working on a maintenance plan now. That’s great! Sounds like you may need to up your calories if your metabolism has settled in at a higher level and is burning off what you're eating. I'm looking to be there one day.

CATLOVER – Let us know how the cholesterol tests turn out. They’re sure to be better now that you’re eating more healthy. I read somewhere that chocolate can indicate that your body is craving protein – maybe try that and see if it helps. As for a non-food solution…………hmmmmmmmmmmm……when you figure that one out, please let me know!!

ICESKATEFAN – LOL!! 2 days OP -- You must be so far in the wagon that you can't tell you're on it. I'll move over and share my window seat with you. Just be careful when sitting this close to the edge. When you get that rain coming will you send some down to us Florida babes? We sure could use it!

MARGARET – Good to hear from you. We’ll save you a seat on the wagon! Maine and NH sounds like a wonderful place to go for your honeymoon. We want to hear all about the wedding plans.

GATORGAL – Yeppers! Wendell must’ve said that about 100 times in the 30 minutes we were together. LOL!!! He’s got me at 6:00 tomorrow morning and Vince at 7:00am. I wish I could hang around and see him push the Meister to the limits.

MARIE – Yeah!!! In the 90’s!!! Happy Dance for Marie!!!!!!

Y’all are going to laugh, but today is Corporate Dress Day at work. Normally we wear very casual clothes at work and I haven’t had on a pair of pantyhose in so long I think I pulled a muscle trying to get into them this morning. To top it off I forgot my sweater and the cryogenic zone is colder than normal. :( Think the clients would care if I had a nappy sweatshirt on over my suit? I’m just hoping I don’t have to walk too much in these high heels – I might fall over!

Tomorrow morning is my next 1 on 1 session at the gym with Wendell again. If my muscles don’t feel any better I think he’s going to be disappointed in my performance tomorrow. I told Vince I had to get a good night’s sleep tonight so I’m rested up for the Wendell encounter. :)

Morning ladies!

Well, day Two back OP. Walked about 1.5 miles with a neighbor last nite – it’s so nice when the days are longer, so when DH gets home I am outta there! Older DS went on a four night camping trip with his entire grade today – he was bouncing off the walls, he was so excited! Unfortunately, the weather is the pits currently, but they’ll still have fun. It will be strange in the house without him, esp after my having been away for 5 days – I’m going to have to spend some good quality time with him when he gets back!

Deb – I tried doing that interval stuff with my walking in the past as well and just didn’t have success with it. I’m glad to see you doing it, I bet it will make a difference in your metabolism and loss. My father is still in the hospital and will be going to a rehab facility when he is released – this is one of the most painful surgeries there is and it will be along time before he has total use of his right side, so I am happy they prescribed that. That will also give me more time to research assisted living facilities for him.

OH! VERY IMPORTANT! MY LESSON LEARNED FROM THIS TRIP TO CALIFORNIA…..READY? IT’S DEEP….HERE GOES….”BEING A PARENT PREPARES YOU TO BE A CHILD”. Get it? It came to me as I was wetting my Dad’s mouth and trying to help him breath in a yoga-like fashion to relax. Who understands what I mean?

Deb – again…LOL I got these great prepackaged lentil things from TJs and yesterday had one – first thing I bit into was a stone! I packed it all up and am sending it to TJ’s corporate HQs…let’s see what happens. I didn’t even look at their frozen food, so I will absolutely consult youj for the list next time I go….Have you tried their green teas? Yum, jasmine and orange scented!

Mary- Ouch, that must have hurt! I’m sorry you’ve been having a bad time – keep venting with us and all will be well. At least you have a great vaco to look forward to!!! I love looking forward to vacos – just made resvs for a Maine beach trip!

Sol – with my midlife crisis I have been learning a lot about breathing and yoga-y type things, even tho I am not a yoga-y type person – with all that yawning stuff going on maybe you would benefit from learning controlled breathing and all that? There are some good books I’ve been reading which also incorporate women’s stress and how to deal with it etc….Let me know if you want some more info, I’ve been finding all this mind-body stuff to really energize me (sounds very earthy granola but it seems to work!). With your IS insight, can you tell me exactly what Sniffer programs can do?

Tigger – welcome to the board? Are you a Pooh fan or just a Disney nut? I myself am a total Disney nut. I think your Doctor’s weight loss expectations are very unrealistic – 2 lbs a week would be great and will stil be helpful I am sure….if you are shooting for 4 per week you could be so disappointed! This plan is wonderful and WILL work for you…just read lot of the info on the board. I can imagine how hard this must all be for you – we conceived both of our kids very quickly but I often think about how grateful we should be and never forget that. Have you given yourself a certain length of time to continue the procedures and then possibly adopt? Those little Chinese girls are so cute….we have friends who went through just what you are and were set to adopt – then miraculously they conceived and they are STILL considering adopting as well! Good luck to you….

Chris – I am going to sent you a private message. Please check your PM when you can.

Overcome – Hey girl! How are you doing? Wasting away to nothing? Tell me more! Treadmilling in the warm weather – can you get outside and walk and listen to the birds too? After listening to all those kiddies in school, the treadmill must feel so great to you!

Catlover – about your chocolate craving, you do know we can eat 70% cocoa content chocolate, right? I keep some in the freezer and grab a square whenever the urge hits….now it’s not my favorite, milk, but it does the trick. Hoep that helps.

Margaret – You seem to be having the best time planning your wedding. Keep us poisted on all the details – are there honeymoons plans?

Rosalie – How exciting to be traveling to England! We haven’t been out of the states since the kids were born, we used to travel extensively and I think we’ll have to wait till retirement to get overseas again. Do you have family there?

Well, off to make some green tea and marketing calls. Hope you all have a wonderful day!

Hi folks! Just saying good morning. I don't have much time 'cause I'm you-know-where. My coworker's father died last night. He was pretty old but in good health, the whole family had planned a trip to Japan next year.

Yesterday I did really well eating veggies and lean meats, in addition to my allotted carbs, but then I went nutzoid on the cereal again (Cheerios of all things). I think after I munch my way through my current supply I have to give up cold cereal for a good long while. I can wipe out days of progress in one evening with that stuff.

So far this month, it's one step forward, one step back. But at least I'm holding.

 Went shopping yesterday for some new clothes. I was shoked to find that I had to buy a size 10 blouse & size 8 slacks!! I don't remember the last time I was able to wear clothes that size!! Is that a sign that my memories is going bad??? LOL

It turned a little cooler here in SW LA. It's a beautiful day. Went to get my mother to come spend the day with me today & also have Daxton. She is enjoying having him here. He's a MESS!!! It has taken me all day, off & on, to get this post done, but here goes....

Debbie Sorry to hear about you & Micheal's falls too. Hope all are ok. Hip is feeling better & I'm back to work in am. Yes, I hear that FL not only is hot & dry right now, but rather smokey as well. I remember when we were there last year there were fires then as well. Packing cool stuff for sure :D Your cake sure does sound good. Had not had a chance to try that other angel food cake again, but will eventually. Hoping to try some cookies while on vacation if I get a chance to look for a recipe before we leave.

SolShine, I looked for your oatmeal recipe on the Quaker Oats site, but didn't find it. Are you planning to post it? I'd like to give it a try. Yes, I've seen the fires are in your area as I watched the news. Maybe that has something to do with the yawning you are doing. If the smoke is bad, then it may deminish your oxygen level in your blood & increase the carbon dioxide level. {b]Part of Canaveral Seashore is a Nudie beach![/b] I can't believe that!! That is right down the road from our condo & we always go look for seashells there! Well, you can believe that we will sure stay away from it this year then.

Tiggerme...WELCOME TO THE BOARD Looking forward to getting to know you. Good luck with the weight loss & the IVF. This board always has lots of helpful info to help you along the way.

SPARKLESCAMP, Sounds like you did really well with your food choices on your date. Great! :D Yes, I am about 1/2 lb away from my mini goal it seems. Hopinf to reach it for WIW tomorrow. I am really excited about that.

OVERCOME, Sounds like you're doing ok if you can eat what you want & not gain anything. I'm sure you're very happy about the end of the school year.

MARGARET, It's good that you are at least maintaining your weight & not gaining. I'm sure you're not under any stress with 3 weddings in 2 months... Good Luck girl.

ROSALIE, WooooHoooo for you!! Glad you finally broke that 200 mark. You've probably been so busy getting ready for your trip that you've burned off those extra lbs... :) Thanks for missing me. I've missed chatting with you too. I know I probably won't be online much with the way my schedule is from now till we leave, cause I only have one more day off, then the trip. If I don't get to chat with you again before, I pray that you have a safe trip & a wonderful visit with your family.

VIV, So glad to hear that your dad's surgery went "by the book". That is a very good thing at his age. You said….”BEING A PARENT PREPARES YOU TO BE A CHILD” Yes, I DO know what you're saying. Not only from the nurse perspective, but also in dealing with my dad when he was dying of cancer, & now with my mom as she adjusts to being in the nursing home. Yes, I am SOOOOOOOO looking forward to our week at the beach...away from work, the phones, everything!! Can you tell I'm stressing? DH's niece, her hubby & 3 teens from ARK are joining us for the week. We are excited about this.

AMSERAPHIM, How's the garden growing? any veggies ready for the plate yet?

RHOO, Your Relay for Life is coming up soon isn't it?

BOB, Hope you're still smoke free. Any good chicken dishes lately?

Nancemeister, That is sooooo irritating to loss your posts, isn't it?

Well, got to go...hope to check in later. Hope everyone has a good day

Buying a Bathing Suit - Author Unknown

I have just been through the annual pilgrimage of torture and humiliation known as buying a bathing suit. When I was a child in the 1950's, the bathing suit for a woman with a mature figure was designed for a woman with a mature figure -boned, trussed and reinforced, not so much sewn as engineered. They were built to hold back and
uplift, and they did a good job.

Today's stretch fabrics are designed for the prepubescent girl with a figure chipped from marble.

The mature woman has a choice - she can either front up at the maternity department and try on a floral costume with a skirt, coming away looking like a hippopotamus who escaped from Disney's Fantasia or she can wander around every run-of-the-mill department store trying to make a sensible choice from what amounts to a designer range of fluorescent rubber bands. What choice did I have?

I wandered around, made my sensible choice and entered the chamber of horrors known as the fitting room. The first thing I noticed was the extraordinary tensile strength of the stretch material.

The Lycra used in bathing suits was developed, I believe, by NASA to launch small rockets from a slingshot, which give the added bonus that if you manage to actually lever yourself into one, you are protected from shark attacks. The reason for this is that any shark taking a swipe at your passing midriff would immediately suffer whiplash. I fought my way into the bathing suit, but as I twanged the shoulder strap in place, I gasped in horror - my bosom had disappeared!
Eventually, I found one bosom cowering under my left armpit. It took a while to find the other. At last. I located it flattened beside my seventh rib. The problem is that modern bathing suits have no bra
cups. The mature woman is meant to wear her bosom spread across her chest like a speed hump.

I realigned my speed hump and lurched toward the mirror to take a full view assessment. The bathing suit fit all right, but unfortunately, it only fit those bits of me willing to stay inside it. The rest of me oozed out rebelliously from top, bottom, and sides. I looked like a lump of play dough wearing undersized cling wrap. As I tried to work out where all those extra bits had come form, the
prepubescent sales girl popped head trough the curtains, "Oh There you are! she said, admiring the bathing suit. I replied that I wasn't so sure and asked what else she had to show me.

I tried on a cream crinkled one that made me look like a lump of masking tape, and a floral two-piece which gave the appearance of an oversized napkin in a serviette ring. I struggled into a pair of leopard skin bathers with ragged frill and came out looking like Tarzan's Jane - pregnant with triplets and having a rough day. I tried on a black number with a midriff and looked like a jellyfish in mourning. I tried on a bright pink pair with such a high cut leg I thought I would have to wax my eyebrows to wear them.

Finally, I found a costume that fit...a two-piece affair with shorts style bottom and a halter-top. It was cheap, comfortable, and bulge friendly, so I bought it. When I got home, I read the label which
said, "Material may become transparent in water." I'm determined to wear it anyway.....I'll just have to learn to do the breaststroke in the sand. And, summer is sooooo close!

Hi Fellow SB Pals!

We're having a luncheon that I don't need to attend, so I snuck in my office to trying posting AGAIN!

Tiggerme
WELCOME ABOARD!!!!! You will find everyone here is VERY supportive! Did you doctor think that your IVF would be more sucessful if you lost weight? Is you insurance covering that, or are you guys having to pay out of pocket?

Sparklescamp
Sounds like you had a nice time on your date. Good for you for staying on plan! Have you re-done your hair yet? You have such a pretty face, I'm sure anything will look good on you.

Overcome
Thanks for sharing your frsutrations. Don't worry about what everyone else thinks, as long as your happy! Are you at your goal?

Rosalie
CONGRATULATIONS on being under 200lbs. That's great!
Way to go!!!! I can't wait to see 199 again!

Debelli
Maybe that 1/2 pound you're up is from eating 1/2 that cake! LOL I can't wait to try it. Did you get any recipes from Ole Ole for us????? Hope you had a nice time. Maybe you could freeze pack some carbolite ice cream in exchange for some Trader Joe's supplies?

Solshine
I was laughing at your corporate dress day delimna! I would fall over too if I had to wear high heels ever again! Thank goodness my husband and I are about the same heigth, so I don't have to worry about that!

My DH bought me some SB Ice cream. He was so excited for me that they had it at the store! It tasted pretty good!

BOB, BOB, BOB
How can I go on without you???? I'm going to go on a posting strike if you don't write us soon. I have no one to dish out sarcasim, no wagon stories....life is not the same. Come home, come back to the SB Fam!!!!

Well, time is running out, gotta run! Talk with you ladies tonight!

Well thank you everyone for you walm welcomes. Its going to take me a while to get everyones names down but I will. Lets see I have been asked if I am a pooh fan... I am but Tiggerme is a combo of my Lab (Tigger) and me. Now Tigger was named because once he got his barings at our house when we got him home he bounced everywhere. He is a Chocolate Lab so if anyone is familiar with them you know I have a mad man on my hands :)

I realize now how my signature sounds when I mention failed. Its going to take a while but right now I do feel like I have failed. I know its nothing I can control but its very hard for me to accept that others can conceive so easily and I cant (along with millions of other woman).

Someone else asked if we had insurance. We did have insurance but we hit the cap and we are now paying out of pocket. I am very lucky that we are only out of pocket $15,000 so far. My next cycle will be running us $7000.

I really need to go look at all the links here so I can find some acceptable snacks and meals.

How many of you eat bread and how often do you eat it? Is it okay to have toast in the morning and then a sandwich at lunch? Should I stay away from cheese (another favorite food)? Do you fin you have a better weight lost if you really limit you carbs to nothing?

Well it is over and all I can say is that I'm glad I went ahead and did it. MIL was cool, not cold, nice enough but not friendly. At least I made the effort and can stop feeling stress about it.

Spewer is an interesting person and I never know what to expect. She made a comment on Wed night in front of the ladies' group and I finally said something to her in return; simply "Now that wasn't very nice." The next day there was a small floral arrangement, made by her, waiting for me in the garage when I got home. Sat nite she kept telling me what an inspiration I am to her. Go figure.

I did not have time to read the posts, sorry gang, heating/air contractor is coming tomorrow which means MAJOR house cleaning! plus I am trying to pack.

I am preparing to for another road trip. I will be leaving tomorrow for my family's house for a week long trip. I hope to be able to chat tonight but I may not make it due to my need to pack. I am hoping to meet FILLISE for lunch on Friday. Will be emailing her after this post to work out some plans. Yes, I will take a picture or 2 to post on the site so you can also enjoy our loveliness! :D

I will not be on the board again for a week. Will try to post my WIW results from work tomorrow. Hope everyone is a loser!

Peace,
Frog

EVENING EVERYBUDDY :D

I'm here, just lurking a bit...trying to get ready for my trip. I'll be gone until the 4th of June...
I'm headed up the interstate to S.C. to do the family thing...wedding...graduation....etc.....much needed r&r

THANKS FOR ALL YOU'RE CONCERN ABOUT WHERE I'VE BEEN... Like I said before, I just don't feel worthy and even though I have had a major accomplishment with quitting smoking, I feel as though I have failed myself greatly and until I can get back on track 100%, I'm not going to feel better at all!

I'll be leaving at noon on Thursday and will try my best to get back on here, but I will not promise...Once again, I have waited until the last minute to do everything...

NANCE I'll be back....I promise...I'll snap out of it..I promise...just hang in there....save up all that "snide crap" until I get back from my trip and I will let you slam me all you want to....HONEST!!

See you all in about 10 days....

BOB

p.s. I think the wagon train has pulled out without me....maybe that's where Missy and Kim are?????

Melf Dont worry about the nudie beach. It is down at the very far end and you’ll have to walk a ton to get there. That particular beach is called Playa Linda, which means Linda Beach. I don’t know what Linda means in Spanish. Down at the far end of Playa Linda is where the nudists normally go. They don’t want to be around clothed people any more than we want to be around them. So not to worry.
There are some brush fires down near Disney, but we don’t have any problem with any smoke up here, 45 minutes north of Disney. We only know the fires are there because we see it on the news. I don’t think it is anything like it was 2 summers ago, when firefighters from all over the US were here. You definitely could see the fires from the interstate, up north of Daytona beach and going to Jacksonville.

SolShine Did Jim measure you for percentage of body fat? They can do that, and track your progress by every month or so remeasuring. they do it with a calipers.

Big Orange Are you feeling down because you have not been progressing? Are you staying away because you have not been SBing? We want you back!!! You make us laugh, and we like you, also. You remind us that it is a journey, not solely a destination, and that we are fallible beings who are loved anyway.

I know. I bet BOB is lurking and she is 100 of those hits.

Did pretty well today. Not perfect, but pretty well. My DH is eating out tonight, and I ended up having salad with peas and boiled egg in it. I thought I had some chicken breast to add to it, but was wrong. I am not sure I got enought calories in today. I think I'm about 200 cal. short. I already had an apple, and don't think I want to face another one. Any suggestions for that extra 200 calories I need?

Also, will y'all reiterate to me the principle of this WOE again. When I DO eat a higher GI food, like rice or pasta, I don't notice feeling any hungrier. It doesn't make me eat any more. Does it all boil down to calories, actually? Could I eat that baked potato and not do any differently than I would if I had eaten the same number of calories in, say, broccoli, or chicken breast?

Evening Everyone!

I've been banned from the kitchen after cleaning it so Eli could make dinner-one of my favorites, an eggplant dish-all veggies-he's going to hate the after-effects later on!

I forgot to mention 2 things earlier: #1 Today is my 14 month SB ANNIVERSARY! and #2 Tonight is suppose to be the chat at 9:15pm! How could I forget that-maybe my head was not screwed on correctly in the rush this morning!

Okay, I'm back from dinner, it was delicious!

Went to the HFS today and found a couple items I had never bought. One is called NATURE O's, made by Arrowhead Mills. Look like Cheerios, but hardly any flavor, which is why I bought them. I don't plan on eating them as is, but going to experiment with them to make something else. Only ingredients are: Whole Oat Flour, Whole Greain Brown Rice Flour and Defatted Wheat Germ. There's a recipe on the bag that I may try as well. Also bought BIONATURAE 100% SGWW spaghetti and Erewhon Wheat Flakes to make something other than serving it as a cereal.

I CANNOT make that sponge cake for a while-there's one piece left and let me tell you, I enjoyed every single stinking piece I wolfed down-so if I don't show a loss, I know I can only blame me for being such a glutton!

SOL, thanks for the e-mail and the update! I'm glad you can relate to TIGGER and hope you can be supportive with each other with that as well as SB;) I hope you have more willpower with the cake than I did. When I made it last night I added a little lemon extract in with it as well-it's good if you have some handy. Good luck tomorrow with Wendell!!!

VIV, glad to see you got day 2 under your belt. Trust me, when I started trying to run, I felt like I could go 3 steps and that's all-I wanted to die! Not that I particularly care to run, trust me, there's no enjoyment in it, but I figured if I had to rev my motor a bit more to see something change on the scale, I'd do it. It takes me a long longer to cool down afterwards though. Plus, with it being soooo hot today, 96 degrees, it makes it much harder to get going and keep going! I can't believe you found a stone in your lentils! Is there an 800 number or an e-mail address to contact the company who made the product? Haven't tried TJ's green teas-I'll just have to check them out next time I'm lucky enough to go to one! Which, BTW, isn't soon enough fo me!!!

CHRIS, how in the world do you MAKE an avatar???

MELF, congrats on the new size! Wish you were coming further south, I'd love to meet you! Hey, did you buy a new bathing suit to bring to the Sunshine State?????

NANCE, okay, slap me with a wet noodle, whole wheat of course. I KNOW I won't get to goal with eating a whole cake-where is the willpower I have with everything else? It like, disappears!:^: I don't understand this part of me-how I can have so much control with chocolate and not this cake. BUT, I do know, that once it's gone, I won't make it anytime soon and that will be that. There really aren't much in the way of recipes to get from Ole Ole, basic easy Mexican food-I just love my salad and the dressing they serve with it. Don't I wish we could trade Carbolite for TJ's stuff! Today I have hazelnut and French Vanilla flavors-yummy!!!!

TIGGER, Tigger sounds adorabe! Labs are such great dogs. Our neighbors have a yellow lab that they named Summer, since they got her in the summer:) I think many of us who are Mother's on this board can relate to you-I too had a hard time conceiving and had miscarriages, honestly, I can't remember just how many, but I always knew early on since I was under a Dr.'s care and they had to do blood tests. I was taking Clomid and then went to Pergonal shots. It's very taxing, as well as costly, but you just don't care when you want someone so badly! Would you believe, I decided to give myself a rest and stop all treatments, and a few months later, I got pregnant with Michael, then almost 17 months after he was born, Lauren came-both pregnancies were really big surprises!!! I can understand how you think you have failed, but you haven't-we all agree on this-YOU HAVE NOT FAILED! I truly believe everything is destined, and that we don't always fully understand why things happen for the reasons they do. I'm sure everything will work out. I can remember how upset I was each time I found out I was pregnant and then would lose it weeks later. It was hard to reason with me at the time. BUT, after Michael was born, I thought, my gosh, if all this other stuff hadn't happened, I wouldn't have Michael-who was an excellent baby, a extremely smart child (starting talking a 10 months old) got his IQ tested in kindergarten with it being 132, etc. etc. So, whatever I went through before hand seemed to be worth it once he came along. Think positively-it helps!!! Okay, stop my preaching and back to SB- you should try to limit your startchy carbs (bread, sweet potatoe, rice, pasta, etc.) to no more than 2-3 a day. Yes, you can have a slice of toast in the morning and a sandwich in the afternoon, but remember the 2-3 deal! Here's what I do when I want a sandwich-I take a piece of bread and a really sharp serated knife and split it so I have 2 slices and slap whatever I want in between. HEY, THAT'S MY TUESDAY TIP EVERYONE! Cheeses, moderation and try to use low fat whenever possible. Remember, this is NOT a low-carb WOE, you should have approx. 40% of your calories come from carbs-I can help you figure that all our easily. I will e-mail you later with my ideas on your daily menu you sent:)

FROG, good for you! You survived! I hear that song in my head, "I'm a survivor...." Whatever the spewer had to say I'm glad you finally said something so it doesn't go by unnoticed by her. It must of been a good one if you got some flowers out of it! Sometimes, people say the stupidist things when they'd be better off just keeping their traps shut! I hope you have a good trip and find yourself able to stay OP while you are gone. I hope you and FILLISE can get togther-definitely, pictures are a requirement. BTW, where has she been?

BOB, worthy, oh please!!! Do you need me to bring you the tiara?? We're all human and have tought times, that's what friends are for you dingy! How can you not come on and be a part of the PISS & MOAN CLUB? Heck, we'll make you the leader if you want! Seriously though, have a wonderful time on your trip, look for lots of SB goodies!
We'll be waiting for you with open arms to come back 100% on June 5th!!

GATOR, Linda in espanol means PRETTY! I don't believe eating a higher GI food will make you hungrier, it just makes you release more insulin. If you truly want a high GI food, try to pair it up with a low GI food to come out with a moderate GI meal. And I firmly believe that calories count as well!

Okay gals, I'm off of here for the next hour and then I'll get back onto the board at 9:15 for the chat!

Again, TOMORROW IS WEIGH IN WEDNESDAY!!!! I hope the scales are kind to us all!!!! Okay, esp to me with having eaten too much of a good thing!

Later!

Hello all..

Deb & Nancemeister...sorry about the chat, I got a phone call right in the middle and couldn't respond. :o(

Pete (DH) made yummy clam sauce over ww egg noodles. YUM!! I love clam sauce. The egg noodles were divine! I highly recommend them (hodgson mills).

Viv..glad your trip was okay and your dad is on the road to recovery. Yes, I could walk outside but there are neighborhood dogs and I hate bugs!! So i go on the treadmill. Plus, I have a book holder for the treadmill which REALLY motivates me!!

BOB..have a super trip! I love SC...my grandmother lived in Greenville.

Tigger...my good friend had to endure quite a bit to become pregnant. Her last in vitro was a success. Don't give up hope. Good luck. I can imagine it is incredibly hard to deal with.

MELF....I'm counting down the days to school being out!! Only 15! I can hardly believe it. So much left to do, but it'll be great to have some time to myself!

You all would NOT believe how INTERESTED ppl are in sugarbusters. Since my weight loss has become noticable, so many ppl want to know how I did it. They want me to write down what I eat every day!! Honestly, I'm flabergasted! I refer them to http://www.prettyimpressivestuff.com/sugarbusters

I checked out the May recipe board. Looks like some awesome dishes! I'm going to give them a try!

Late night post and lots of reading. I am sitting her laughing out loud at you silly girls!!!!! I must say you are entertaining. I have been very busy with the boys and sports. My daughters recital is comming and getting her prepared mentally is a chore! LOL Stage fright at the age of 5 (she had it last year too!) Anyway, Tom is here and i am waitiing till its gone to weigh!!! maybe! LOL I may visit the MIL tomorrow to use the scale real quick! I feel like i am the same but want that 13something soooo bad so i might wait till Fri. I am finding myself picking alot latley at everything. I can't stand it either!! I have to get the kids back to yelling at me! that works believe it or not! I excersised yesterday and today i don't think i will get the 6 days in its really rainey here, but i will try. I like the results! Anyway enough about my boring life. I read all the posts and am going to try to respond with out going back! HA!!!!!

Viv- welcome home and glad dad is doing o.k. I think half the reason i lost this weight is so my kids don't have to take care of me when i am older. Thats thinking ahead huh? My mother broke her Ankle two years ago and that was not fun! soooo We gotta take care of ourselves so we can be around for the kids right?! Anyway glad everything went as well as it could.

Deb-The cake sounds good. I have noticed you have been eating alot of it i must try the reciepe! I have alot of reciepes to post but when Thursday rolls around i have no time :( Good luck with the last 1.5 what about the poll?? LOL Happy Anniversary too!

Sparkle- Wooo hoo on the date! sounded like fun. Hubby and i went on one Saturday i had baked haddock with a seafood topping the portion was small which is good i hate that too full feeling after a meal.

Nance- Glad u had a good week end. I need a girls away week end soon!!! Its fun to go and just be silly with the girls. I laughed about the Capri Sun. I did the same thing with a "real" soda. I bought it by mistake didn't even look at the can opened it and took a sip and almost spit it out. A friend said "just drink it you can afford it" I said thats not the point i can't drink it its grose! it went down the drain! Funny how those taste buds change.

Melf-wooooo hooooo on the clothes you are getting tiny girl!! keep it up. I love that feeling. I can't wait to get the last 5 off so i can be in a certain size and stay there!
The relay is in two weeks. I am getting excited i just worry about the weather! I love the bathing suit post. I have been looking for one of those suckers! Have not purchased yet!

Tigger- I eat triscuts for a snack. Also someone posted only one starchy carb at a meal or something like that. I try to keep my starchy carbs to 2-3 a day to lose weight. Reading labels is really important with this woe. Good luck!

Iceskatefan- woooooooo hooooooo on staying on program! You can do this!!! i bet you can't wait till school is out!

Frog- Glad MIL wasn't as bad as you thought she would be. You survived!!! I lol about spewer! have a great trip think of us!!!

Bob-i knew we couldn't get rid of you! LOL we need that wagon girl!!! Just kidding! :D

overcome- you are so lucky to have a hubby that cooks! i love that in a man! Don't you love those people who want you to fix them when your doing so well! They just have to realize that they have to do this for themselves! I think if someone wants to pay me i would help! LOL I wan't to write a book someday!

Ok i forgot a ton of people but ya know!!! gotta go to bed this took to long  to everyone i missed!

Happy WIW to All!!!

Even if there are some of us who do not have losses to celebrate...We can celebrate the losses of those who did, AND congratulate those of us who are on this board and who are trying...one meal at a time!!!

Okay some of you know that from last February until this February I was following SB-Dr.'s orders for a condition that I have had for over 3 years. I wasn't on it to lose weight...and I didn't (you can say that again) I ate fried foods, and didn't watch the carbs or fats, etc. So, 2 weeks ago when the Dr. told me I was well (YIPPEE) I had to decide if I was going to follow this WOE, and I decided that I was.

Now, I would like to lose some weight...I don't know if I am ready to post my weight on the BIO board, but I did weigh this morning...and ...well...gulp...I will share my "starting (this time) weight with you guys...Now, when you see it, remember that I am only 5'0" tall. So, this number is high for me...okay...I'll just type it...here goes...um...OKAY...164. UGH!!! When I was a weight watcher leader I weighed 119...so you can see what my goal weight was then...

I have no intentions of going that low...it is unrealistic for me, at 46. So, I decided to follow the lead of some of you and start counting my WW points, but following the SB WOE. Does anyone know the points for Soy milk?

Thanks to all of you who shared your lunch ideas with me. It really helped.

Seven more days until I tell these fourth graders, "Good-bye". I love what I do, but this has been a rough year, and I am ready for some R&R. I am nearing the "burn-out" phase.

Today is our Teacher Appreciation luncheon, so I will be careful what I eat, but in the past the parents got their feelings hurt when people didn't seem to appreciate their efforts. I will do my best to stay on plan...I made it through the first three days...and I will not let today throw me off too much...Here's hoping for salad...

Remember, if we are on this board...we are winners today...even if we aren't "losers". :) :) :)

Just a few more days, and I will try to post to all of you. Bare with me until then...

What????? I'm posting before Deb, and I'm on the West Coast???? This is unnheard of!!!!

Well I'm a gainer not a looser. Up one pound, but thanks to Iceskatefan, she reminded me I'm still a winner because I hang out on the SB board!

Iceskatefan
Good luck on your weight loss journey with us loosers. I'm glad to hear you are in better health!

Rhroo
I can totally relate to sugar affecting the taste buds. Funny how when I eat chocolate I don't get the grossed out :sneaky:

BOB
Hey girlfriend....you said you weren't leaving until THURSDAY which mean you have plenty of time for wagon talk and what-not on the board!!!! Do you think you are actually going to go on vacation without posting a few times more??? I THINK NOT. The repercussions would be so heavy, you wouldn't even want to know how annoying the "GNAT" could be!!!! On a serious note.....Stop mentally beating yourself up. You quit smoking which is HUGE. Everyone I know that has quit has had a weight gain. You will get things under control, it will plateau and you'll get back on track.
Stop the viscious cycle of self-verbal abuse. Tell yourself you are AWESOME (which you are by the way! :)) You have accomplished something thousands...millions....of people haven't been able to do. Now you can focus on your weight...and posting more good recipes for the Nancemeister to try! Are you having vacation-idis at work yet? I BET YOU ARE!!!!! Counting the days or the hours yet?

Ldblond
Are we going to lunch today or what???? PHONE, FAX, CALL.....something! Where do you want to go? You pick, since I've been forcing Red Robin on you the last 3 times!

Debelli
Are you walking a second 4.5 miles to get that 1/2 pound of cake off or what??? Where are you?

Gotta ge cleaned up and head to "the office"....oh the joy of working full time!

Congratulations to all you loosers!!!

Good morning everyone :)

I weighed in at 198 pounds again this morning. That is 2 pounds down from last week. It's given me some motivation to get exercising again as I have been quite lazy lately. I did the 2 mile walk video this morning - just did half of it, I stopped at one mile. But at least it's a start. I plan on playing badminton this evening. I missed playing on Monday as I had to work.

Viv - Yes, I have family in U.K. I'll be staying with my brother while I am there, and probably with other relatives too. I know it is hard to travel when you have young kids (expensive too). Most of our holidays were camping trips when the children were small but my late dh and I did manage to get in a lot of trips after the children were grown, mainly to the US.

Gator - Eating pasta or rice shouldn't make you hungrier as these are moderate gi foods. But a baked potato is high gi and when we consume high gi foods more insulin is released into the system. Sometimes more insulin than is required is released after a high gi meal and this consequently may bring the blood sugar levels down to below normal. This is what produces hunger and cravings for sugar/starchy foods. (This would happen an hour or so after the meal, not during the meal). Then when we eat again the insulin levels go up again and it is the excess insulin that causes the food we eat to be converted to fat cells. Before I started this woe I can recall that quite often I would feel hungry within an hour or so of eating a large meal and I now assume it was because of the high gi foods I had consumed, such as potatoes and white bread. I agree with Deb that consuming a high gi food with a low gi food does produce a moderate gi meal as long as each food has a similar carb. content.

Melf - Way to go on those smaller clothes. Isn't that a great feeling. Hope you had a good day with your Mom and Daxton. That was a funny post about the bathing suit. I'm sure you wouldn't be having that problem with the size you are now! Enjoy your holiday. You deserve it after all those long shifts you are doing. I'm looking forward to my trip. I leave on the 5th June and return on the 20th so it will probably be the end of June before we have a chance to chat again.

BOB - Have a great holiday. Will see you ON THE WAGON when you get back.

Deb - CONGRATULATIONS on your 14 month SB birthday!!!!!! I think it is a good idea to quit making that cake for a while!!!!!!!!! or we will have to start calling you Miss Piggy! I haven't gotten around to making it yet, maybe to-day if I get time. I am really wanting to try it, it sounds so good.

Gotta go. Have to go get breakfast ready.

See you all later.

Marie.

Okay, Wendell worked me hard this morning! I complained about being so sore from Monday that he said I should have done some more yesterday to get rid of the pain. <YIKES> No sympathy from him. No sirreee!! He even added weight to almost everything I did today and, surprisingly, I’m NOT as sore.

I’m up ½ pound. I’m kind of frustrated, but I haven’t taken my measurements and I think I’m going to do that ‘cause as hard as I’m working and as diligent as I’m being eating the right foods and (mostly) writing down everything I eat and tracking all the calories, sugar, carbs, etc. I’m really ready to see some results. :?:

Someone mentioned yoga might help with my breathing and I had that thought and figured it would come up here, so I guess I need to go look back at the older threads and get some of those yoga tape names to check out… :o I think, too the smoke in the air last week-end didn’t help, but this gasping/yawning to get air is about as annoying as having the hiccups for days.

MELF – Not to scare you away from Canaveral Seashore….only PART of the beach area is for nudies. It’s a very nice beach area. We love New Smyrna! We stay at the Holiday Inn on the beach and try to get one of the rooms at the very tip of the V. I’ll post the recipe on my lunch break. Isn’t it great to have to go back to the racks for a smaller size? Congratulations!!!

NANCEMEISTER – Vince loves the SB ice cream. I’m not a big fan of the vanilla ones, but the Strawberries and Cream with fresh strawberries is awesome!

FROG – Glad to hear you survived your week! Your comment was very appropriate to Spewer. Maybe she’ll think next time she puts her tongue in gear. Probably not. As you continue to correct her you may get to enjoy flowers all the time. Looking forward to pictures of the glamorous FROG and FILLISE! Enjoy your trip!!

BOB – Enjoy your R&R!! Remember that we accept you no matter what! However we WILL pull you back up on the wagon…….better get some knee pads before you come back! :p

GATORGAL – No, I didn’t get my body fat measured. I’m not sure if I could handle that embarrassment, but then again, it would be nice to see that it’s going down – especially on days like today when I’m up ½ lb. Wendell added weight to everything I did today – I’m dying! They haven’t worked my biceps at all, though. I’m going to ask about that on Friday. I’ll be with Wendell again at 6:30am. Vince’s first “real” work out was at 7am with Wendell after mine. I can’t wait to see what he thinks.

TIGGER – I know for me reading about people overcoming challenges and reaching their goals is inspiring and edifying. Rhonda (RHOO) has a web site listed in her bio a friend of hers put together. She’s lost a lot of weight and has a really good site. I have a very dear friend who tried for 12 years to get pregnant and tried everything. She finally, at 42 years old, has 2 beautiful twin boys (not identical twins) who will be 6 months old soon. She and her husband researched barren women in the Bible who were able to conceive and she used her concordance to look up the words parents, children, mother, father, etc. and they claimed those promises for themselves. Another friend was told she was too stressed and concerned about things not working to conceive. (You get what you’re believing for and fear is negative believing sort of lessons she was taught) She took a leave of absence from work and 1 month after not having to face the 8-5 grindstone and relaxing more/worrying less she conceived. You are taking deliberate steps and it sounds like you are trying everything you know to do to get pregnant. The SB WOE will definitely help your health and that’s a good thing! I’m still trying to figure out why my weight isn’t coming off. I’m tweaking things in my diet and changed my work-outs to be more intense and to include more structure. I’m believing to figure it out so I can see some results from all this work. :D

DEBBIE – Playa Linda – Pretty??? Well, then someone named that beach wrong! Has anyone noticed that the people who most like to go to nude beaches are usually the ones who need the most clothes on?? I mean, geez, if it was a bunch of babes and hunks going there it would be much more popular. :s:

And to everyone else I missed……. Have a great day!!!

GOOD WEDNESDAY MORNING EVERYONE!

Can't believe it's almost 11am here. Day is going too fast today. Got my walk/jog in this morning, 4.5 miles with 15 bursts of running (doing more, can you see) with a time of 55:15 minutes. Had to immediately jump in the shower for a pre-wash I was sweating so profusely! Must of smelled pretty ripe as well. I wish I could get up and exercise while it was dark and not so hot-it's brutal out there.

IT'S RAINING! Finally, we need it desperately-I don't care how gloomy it is outside-my poor grass is brown and crunchy!

Okay, it's WEIGH IN WEDNESDAY!!!! No cigar for me today. I'm actually up 2lbs from last weeks WIW:eek: and up 2.5 from my low. I'm not worried, usually when I get my period I got up 3-4lbs, when I got it on Sunday I didn't go up, but feel I went up a little later than usual. Of course, a bit of that COULD be from all that cake I've eaten, but not that much-so again, I shall be patient and know it's hormones and it will go down! LOL! At least I can be assured that by next month, I will hit my goal! Okay, I'm really hoping by the end of this month, but again, I can be patient!

CONGRATS TO ALL OF YOU WHO LOST OR EVEN STAYED THE SAME THIS WEEK! If you'd like to post your losses on our WEEKLY WEIGHT LOSS BOARD just click on the link below:

http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=5451

BOB, nah, you don't come across as the type for people to feel sorry for you-more like you like to milk it for all it's worth! Pardon me, how about how close you live to me as well and how you know I can just get in that van and drive to Sarasota and kick some butt! Huh? I'm sure you'll come back from vacation, ready to get back into the drivers seat of that wagon, ready to head on home!!!

OVERCOME thanks for coming to the chat, even though it was a little short, it still is always fun to chat with others. I always refer others to RISSA'S site-it's a great way to tell others about SB without having to type the same thing continuously.

RHROO, silly, okay, here's silly, when I first read your post, I thought I read your daughter was having a rectal, then re-read a recital! LOL! Did you make it to MIL's house for WI? Yes, I see you have been reading the boards and my cake escapades-it's just so good-but I've sworn of making on for at least a week or two! I decided against the poll-thought it would be too much to make a poll about me. How about we just place some bets???

ICESKATE, how beautifully said: Even if there are some of us who do not have losses to celebrate...We can celebrate the losses of those who did, AND congratulate those of us who are on this board and who are trying...one meal at a time!!! You make me feel better about not losing this week:) I'm glad you are sticking with us-I see you too are (as NANCE puts it) a "shrimp". I'm 5' 1 1/2" tall, not much taller than you. I know how the extra weight on a short person looks-taller people tend to be able to carry their weight better than shorter people do (10 pounds on a short person is completely different than 10 on a taller one). I think many have found success doing SB and using the WW points for portion control - I'm sure knowing as much as you do about WW, you'll do great! Have a good time at the luncheon and know just how much teachers really are appreciated!!!

NANCE, glad we got in a chat this morning :) So, you join me as being a gainer today - glad I'm not alone! Actually, I take that back, wish I were all by my lonesome, but of course, unexpected company is always welcomed!!!

ROSALIE- WOO HOO! I'm so glad you have that 2lb loss to report on WIW! You deserve it! I hope this does get you motivated to get back into your exercising, it can only help. At least you did some exercise today, that's a plus. I'm gonna stop the cake for a while-I see I have no willpower with anything I bake that's SB legal-wonder why? I do with everything else, but not anything that I make.

SOL, just remember, you have been working out and most likely losing fat, but in the meantime, gaining muscle, which weighs more than fat-so don't get discouraged, you're getting buff! LOL! Yes, Linda (prounounced Leenda, I guess) means pretty - being in Miami, you tend to pick up a few Spanish words. But maybe with the way you describe those nudies, they should rename it FEO (? on sp) BEACH (ugly beach).

Okay gals, I'm outta here, back to doing something constructive in the house. I'll check in with you all later.

Please remember, TOMORROW IS RECIPE DAY so if you have any good recipes you'd like to share with the board that are SB LEGAL, please, try to post them tomorrow on the MAY RECIPE BOARD.

Have a wonderful day!!!

The other day I was in Albertsons (hardly ever go there) and saw these LUZIANNE FLAVORINGS they make to flavor ice tea. I bought the PEACH MANGO FLAVOR. There is NO SWEETENERS at all in this products, mind you, there is no nutritional values of any- "0" on everything.

Anyhow, I added 5 teaspoons of this to my 1.5 liter bottle of water (50.7 ounces) and guess what - it's WONDERFUL! It makes the water taste sooo good! You personally may want to add more, but this worked out perfect for me:)

I called the company to ask if using more than the serving size of 1.5 tsp changes the nutritional value at all, they said "NO."

They also have STRAWBERRY KIWI and RASPBERRY FLAVORINGS as well.

To see this product, go to:

Hey All….
Well, another rainy day in CT. I feel good for the grass and bad for all the 5th graders who are on the camping trip they’ve been waiting all year for! Even when it’s not raining it’s so muggy that the mosquitoes will be all over the place, and everyone is afraid of West Nile….and I miss my kid! When he comes home we’re going to go and see “Shrek”, usually DH or I take the kids to movies but we fought about who gets to go and see this because it’s supposed to be so good….so we’ll both go, LOL…..

I have been sooooooo OP until at night. I confessed to Deb that my spoon got into the kids’ Marshmallow Fluff… DH said to me that even though he knows little about dieting, something would tell him Fluff is NOT SB Legal! Um, yeah! But, another good walk is on the schedule tonite, so I am optimistic….

Melf – great going on the smaller sizes. It makes ya just want to buy more and more clothes, huh? Glad you understood what I meant about parenting, etc., it has really given me a lot of peace going through this whole experience.

Nance – where did your DH find the SB legal ice cream? We have no place that sells Carbolite that I shared with Deb in FLA, so fill me in!

Tigger – I am not a big bread eater, but I do eat the Ezekiel Bread the gals suggested on the board, which you find in a HFS or in the HF section at your market – frozen. Very good toasted. When I am trying to lose I limit carbs to two per day (not including the Fluff, lol) and I DO eat cheese, although in limited quantities. I like the protein in cheese.

Frog – LOL Spewer sounds like a high maintenance friend. Now SHE needs a little yoga! I should have some good MIL stories coming up soon……

BOB – So ya are still a non- smoker! Congrats! Don’t you feel so much better not smelling that stuff all day! Good for you, girl!

Deb – Puhleeze send Eli to me for a week. I need a man who can cook. Older DS is taking a cooking class for a coupla days this summer because he LOVES to cook, so there IS hope….

Overcome – I love clam sauce, need to remember that with WW pasta. It’s so easy to make, once I get the parsley going in my herb garden, some garlic…yum. NY Mag just did a big article on getaway places and they had a lot of positive stuff to say about the Poconos.

Rhroo – I hear ya about aging, etc. Now, while we are young, is our chance to do the best we can to be/get healthy. It can only help us in the future. Of course there are things that we have no control over, but what we CAN control, we should at least try, right? If you’re ever headed down south give me a call and let’s do lunch!

Ice – Do you have one of those slidey things that measures the WW points? That’s what will give you your answer on soy milk – or if you want to post the values I can do it on my slidey thing for you….

Rosalie - yep, travel with kids is so different from “adult” travel. Fortunately we’ve trained ours to be great travelers and they are very “tote-able”….but part of me does look forward to some adult travel soon! Sounds likeyour trip to England will be such fun!

Sol – I am not a tape person, don’t know if you are….I’ve learned a lot of my breathing stuff (mind/body connection) from some websites and books. Let me k now if you want any of them, I have really found it to be TRUE!!

“Nuf yapping for now, I’m waiting another week for WIW till the Fluff gets outta my system!

Have a great day!

Hi all. I stayed the same this week, which is okay with me since my eating habits havent been all that good. I manage to eat breakfast , then its out on the golf course till mid afternoon. I usually have a snack, then overeat at supper.

I have a cooking question? How do you make a perfect hard boiled egg? One that when cracked and peeled does not take half the egg with it.

Anyway happy weighing!!!!

Good bathing suit story. I laughed.

Whew! I got back from NC last night and am dragging today! I was in Kinston NC for my nieces' dance recitals. What an experience! The audience hoots and hollers for the dancers all the way through the recital. At first I was appalled--one simply does not hoot and holler to a ballet. But then I thought howmany opportunities are there for little boys to be cheered--all the sports, etc. These girls (and a few little boys) are being cheered and encouraged and adored. Then I was hollering right along with the rest of the crowd. Perhaps it will give these girls more confidence in who they are and make them a little less susceptible to all the media messages designed to undermine their confidence.

I'm looking forward to meeting up with Frog on Friday. I'll probably be back on-line before she will so I'll let you know how it goes.

Congrats to all the losers today. I haven't gotten on the scale yet and I may not. It is my TOM and I'm all bloated. It will go down in another day or two. Fortunatly I only have my TOM every 6-9 weeks (thanks to hormone treatments for menstrual problems),so it doesn't get in the way of my weight loss very often.

This will have to be fast:

Forced myself to go to the gym this morning for the first time this week. One chick commented on that she hasn't seen me (and on my fast workout ;) ) so I see that even though I don't interact with people there much, it DOES make a difference whether I show up or not...just like I'm inspired by the people who are always there, morning after morning. Only did one mile....which is chickensh*t for me.........for some reason I just want to slide into nothingness today, but the more rational part of me is fighting it.

Anyway, so weighed in (another thing I had to force myself to do) at 157.5, 1.5 pounds up from my magical low of 156, but much better than 161, 2 Mondays ago. I'm glad that I'm holding steady but really need to be moving forward, with my trip in July coming up fast!

I've been spending MORE hours on the website, I THINK I finally got the rollover buttons to work! If you haven't checked it out in the past week, please let me know what you think of the new design:

http://www.shapeshakers.com

Any suggestions for improvement are greatly appreciated.

OH, this is very important (to me). I have decided to change my goal weight. I was reading somewhere, in one of the articles I've been digging up, that it's best to make your goal weight within 20 pounds of your current weight. Next, I got to thinking that 140 pounds is that "MAGIC NUMBER" that I've been having a very hard time accepting that I can get past. In fact I start to panic whenever I think about reaching that weight. Weird huh? I've never been that thin and part of it is fear of the unknown. So I feel it's best for me to focus on that hurdle, and not worry about anything like 130 which is too much of a fantasy right now. So I'm changing my goal weight to 139, which is a little under 20 pounds. I'd like to reach my goal by October 31st, which is an easy 4 pounds a month. I feel a lot better just writing that down, like it's something DO-ABLE and not setting myself up for failure by attempting to lose 10 pounds a month or something ridiculous. Whew!

More later!

~Chris

Hi Everyone!

Not much going on down here-thought I'd get in a quick post...

VIV, Michael went to see Shrek and loved it. I guess I must be heartless, I didn't miss my kids when they use to go to camp for 8 weeks-I guess I'm heartless! Your hubby's a smart cookie to know that marshmellow fluff is NOT SB legal:nono: Somehow you thought is was?:?: Sorry, no can do-Eli stays put - you want me to starve to death??????

CAT, Hey, staying the same isn't so bad, it's gaining that sucks! I think when the egg is old that the shells stick, but I'm not sure-I'm not one to really ask about cooking. Here's a site that will tell you how to make a good egg:

FILLISE, WELCOME BACK! Sounds like you had a nice time. I'm hoping you and FROG get to meet - we'll be awaiting that report!!!

SPARKLE, I'm sure you'll get back into the groove of things-just don't over due it. I sent you an e-mail about your website-it's looking interesting!!!

Okay, I'm outta here for now, Eli's due home any minute-hopefully, he'll stay home, his store just called to say the grinder isn't working!

EVENING EVERYBUDDY!!! :D

NANCE Whatcha think I've got a herd of midgets over here doing my packing for me???

I haven't packed a rag, and SKEETER has to have a "traveling" bath, gotta pack the car....yada yada yada

ASHLEY I'm going to GREENVILLE!!! Actually to

Oh, tell ELI....HAVE I GOT A STARBUCKS STOREY FOR HIM!! Did you hear about that ranting wild woman in the Sarasota store?.......it was me!! I made mention that I didn't care for the blend they were using for the "DAILY BREW" because it was too acidy....well this girl started by telling me that she was from Guatamalia (sp?) and how two $$ of every pound of coffee from that country went back to fight poverty blah blah blah....I looked at her and said "don't talk to me about poverty girlie, I'm from the APALACHIAN MOUNTAINS.....that IS POVERTY When all the children in this country are fed, cleaned up and clothed, then you can push poverty down my throat....not that you will get anything from me, but you can try....now would you please give me some COLUMBIAN COFFEE????

Well, I weighed in this morning and I was at 265.5, so I have lost this week. I'm still not back to 263 but at least I'm heading in the right direction.

I fully agree with what Ice said, if you're a SB gal, then you're a winner cause you are trying, wheather you've lost this week or not. What a winning thought Ice!!

I am down to 151, that's another 2 lb los from 2 weeks ago when I last reported. That is also 1 lb away from my mini goal which I wanted to reach by June 1st, when we leave for vacation. I should make it!!!

GATORGAL, Thanks for the info on the location of the nudie beach...whey! so glad it's way out at the far end. Sure wouldn't want to venture into that area...LOL..Glad to hear that the smoke is not getting to your area. My daughter will be in the Kissimmee area the same week that we will be in New Smyrna. This will be her first time to visit FL & bringing the kids to Universal. We will be keeping Daxton overnight to give them a free day there, so we will be traveling back & forth I guess. Hope to spend at least one day in Orlando or possibly the space center.

Debbie Banned from the kitchen? Lucky you.... I would love to meet you too, but yes, I do understand that it is too far for you to drive all that way. No problem.

OVERCOME,Yes, I do believe you about the interest that other's have in SB. I get questions like that alot. The main problem though is that a lot of people want to loss the weight, but does not want to make the changes & the commitment that it takes to do it. Too many want an instant method that does not require giving up what they like.

RHOO, hehehe...glad you liked the bathing suit post...I really hate to shop for those. Never seem to find anything I like. Maybe the next one we buy may suit us better, eh? Sure do hope you have perfect weather for your Relay for Life Event.

iceskatefan Congratulations on making such a wise decision re: this WOE. You can do it girl! Don't know anything about ww points, but I'm sure that you'll get your point value from someone here cause several of these ladies combine SB & WW & seem to work well together.

ROSALIE,Way to go on the weight loss. Yes, that is a motivation to hang in there & get back to exercising, isn't it? I've been slacking on that here too. Just can't seem to make the time lately. But I am planning to do lots of walking on the beach.

SolShine, Thanks for the reassurance about the nudie beach. That just surprised me so much! New Smyrna Beach is so much more a family oriented beach than Daytona it seems & to hear that about Canaveral Seashore area was just a shock! We like to go to the Indian Mound & look for the Manitees. We always enjoy our time there. We've been going almost every year since 1990. I don't like the sand, but LOVE the beach...LOL Thanks, I'll look for the recipe for those cookies.

SPARKLESCAMP, I have also been thinking about my final goal which I think will be 140, but haven't decided for sure.

VIV, LOL on the marshmellow Fluff....toooo funny.

BOB, You have such a sense of humor!!! Hope you have a good trip.

FILLISE, Hope your meeting with Frog goes well as planned.

QUILTER/Kim, Miss you!! Hope all is ok with you.

CHERI, Glad to hear things are going in the right direction. Keep up the good work.

Ok, if I missed anyone, please forgive me. Happy SBing.... see ya...

Yes, it's me!!!! Truly. I am back after way too long of a time off. I have missed you all terribly and thought about you so much. I hope everyone is feeling great and loving life. For those of you who have joined in the past two weeks, I'm Quilter and was quite the regular little poster up until about three weeks ago. Here's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Went to Indiana for the wedding of my oldest niece (BTW, it was beautiful and perfect in every way.) I was over there most of the week before the wedding and stayed on program really well. All the while, I'd been carrying around this big grudge that I should be off this weight plateau I'd been stuck at for over a month. I was really blowing it out of proportion and the brunt of my anger came right smack dab down on the SB diet. I really started to doubt the program and whether it was the right way for me to lose the excess. In the meantime, I've also been juggling thoughts about how I am tired of hating my body for the way it looks and how I need to just relax a little bit about these weight issues and concentrate on exercising. Yes, DEB, you heard my right. I have been going crazy with the exercising. So while I was bad-mouthing SB (to nobody but myself, of course!) and trying to get over the "I hate this body" thing, I just didn't get on board. It's nothing about you all, just me trying to figure out a few things in my head. Well, here's the deal as to what I've come up with. I still am going to be a Sugar Buster . . . it's the healthiest way to go, for sure. I also want to lose weight, but the pounds are taking a back seat. That means I'm not going to weigh myself for a while. I may do the once a month weigh in, but not sure. I feel like I will do better if I don't have a big fat "in order to" sitting out there in front of me. I'm eating this or running on the TM in order to . . . blah, blah, blah. Don't get me wrong, I think that goals are great and we all should have them. Mine right now is to concentrate on my fitness program all aspects and one of those aspects is to love who I am. (This is getting deep . . . sorry but I just feel like I have to share with you all. Just hope I am being clear about this.) I created a fitness project for myself. I've set it up for 6 weeks and have set a goal of being able to run for 5 solid minutes at the end of the 6 weeks. Right now I am doing interval type stuff: 35 minutes on the TM with three 1-minute runs during that time. This weekend I should be able to bump one of those 1-minutes up to a two-minute.

I am reading a book called The Body Code. Anybody heard of it? This guy says there are four basic body types (based on numerous things) and that each type requires a different kind of diet and exercise plan. Sounds interesting. I am reading it mainly to see what he has to say about exercise. One thing I like about him is that he calls exercise "body movement". He says exercise has too many negative feelings attached to it.

Anyways, I haven't had a chance to read anything, so I will try to catch up. This weekend will be my third consecutive weekend out of town and I will falter on the board for sure. Just know that I am still with you all and am so thankful for your support over the past months. To the newbies . . . I can't wait to meet you and get to know you.

Will try get back on tomorrow night to read and post. Hugs to you all.
Take care.
Kim

WOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOO to the losers and the stay the samers and the stay on programers and gainers! does that cover everyone? :D I myself stayed the same like i thought. I am almost done with that girl thing but don't think its an excuse i am just a pig! I want the 13something though! I went shopping today and did not buy some of the things that the kids and hubby like that have been hindering me so thats a start! I might get to a scale this week on Fri. but if i don't next week i hope to be a loser! LOL

Deb- I think my daughter would be more excited about a rectal than this silly dance RECITAL she wouldn't have to practice for a rectal! just kidding!

Quilter- HI!!!!!!! glad you had a good visit. Your plan sounds good. Sugar busters just seems like a good way to go for me too. Its not a diet and its an easy woe -even though i do incorperate the Weight watchers with it I think it works. The main thing is the excersise. Even thin people should be doing some kind of excersise Everyday!!! You can do it girl! we are here for you!! keep it up!

Melf-woooooo hooooo on the 2 lbs and the mini goal so close you can taste it huh?! thanks for the well wishes on the relay! I went on line today and looked at some bathing suits i need to get something soon.

I gotta goooooo its late. Everyone else  hope you all have a great week end if i don't make it back!

Hi ladies!!!

Overcome, nice to hear from you! I’m having a hard time keeping up too these days, since I maintain another forum as well...I think I spend ALL my time in front of the computer!

Catlover, how did the tests go?

Iceskatefan, hope you get that rain, you can have some of ours! It’s liberating to post your weight huh? I was 164 when I started in March and am still close to that at 157.5. It’s not so bad!!!! I’ve been 215+ and I’m one hot sexy mama compared to then! ;)

Margaret, good luck with the wedding! So excited for ya!

Gatorgal, Hi!

Karen, I hope you’re sliding UP these days! I feel like I’m barely hanging on too sometimes...but just keep on truckin’!

Debbie, I made the changes to my site that you suggested....thank you!

To answer your question, we met on the Internet of course! But there is a twist: it was totally by accident. I signed up for a couple of the smaller dating sites as research for a site that my roomie is planning to build. Well, after a while I didn’t have time to answer the responses so I went to go delete my profiles. Only ONE response looked interesting, and the rest is history!

When I get the courage I’ll post some pics of my hair!

I would love to hear some ideas of how to cook with Cheerio-like cereal. Because I have a whole box left that I need to do something with besides binge on!!!!

Avatar: Usually I would take an existing image and shrink it. Easier than trying to scan or draw it.

Marie, great to hear about your weight loss success!

SolShine, hey woman!!! You have asked me a couple questions that I wanted to give you a detailed answer on in email, but you know how it goes with time, don’t want to email at work if I can help it. So part of my plan for tonight is to sit my butt down and write you a letter. Haven’t been ignoring you!

On your weight.....what is your exercise like? How many calories per day would you say you are eating?

Mary, size 8 pants! Whooo-hooo! How exciting! Even though I’m so close it still seems like an impossible dream. :(

The bathing suit story that you posted was HILARIOUS!!!!! So clever!

About goal weight, we’ll only know when we get there! And you’re so close! I’m happy for ya.

Nancy, everybody here knows the PAIN of losing a post! I’ve said this before (again and again) but since you’re a newbie: what I do is open up Word and save as I go along. I have a file on my desktop called “postfinal” and I just keep saving over it every day. I save at least every five minutes!

Tiggerme, you said, “Do you fin you have a better weight lost if you really limit you carbs to nothing?” I think most people lose weight on low to no carb initially, but it’s hard to stick to. I found myself eating 5 eggs for breakfast and still be starving. By eating carbs with fiber, you can’t eat indefinitely (well...shouldn’t ;) ).

HEEEY Froggie! I’ve missed the Spewer stories AND you!

BOB, when you figure out how to be 100% PERFECT please let me know how you did it! I find myself backsliding constantly. This morning I could only squeeze out one mile on the treadmill before I ran out of time and patience. But I keep coming back here, confessing my transgressions and truckin’ along....like last night I had a healthful delicious dinner and STILL wanted a large bowl of Cheerios.....which I ate!

Have fun on vacation!

Rhonda, nice to see you again too! I always look for your posts and wonder how you’re doing. Your “date” with hubby sounded awesome....I like to order seafood cause I sure don’t like to cook it!

Susan, welcome back!!!

Cheri, glad you’re on the right track!

Kim, whoooo-hooo! you’re back! Thank you for your honesty too. Sounds like a great decision, to focus on something else besides the number on the freaking scale for now. Good luck with your new routine!

******

Wow! Was that the end? ;) You gals have certainly been busy posting. I’ve been pretty busy too. I’ve been thinking over and over again about SolShine’s post on “time management” because I keep thinking about how much of my life has been filled up with “sand” lately. It seems I’ve gotten so obsessed with the little details and the important things are slipping away. Even when I was (finally) going out on a date it was hard for me to relax and enjoy the moment.

I'm taking the liberty of reposting the story because it helped me so much:

*******

Time Management

Good Morning Everyone!

Just a quick "Hello", and I"m off to a meeting this morning, and then to school for the rest of the day. I hate going to school just in the afternoon, I feel disjointed all day.

Catlover, (I think) here is the best way (so, I've heard) how to boil eggs. First, they should be older eggs, fresh ones will stick wihen you try to peel them. Put eggs in a pot, cover with water, and let water come to almost a boil. You have to watch the bubbles, and just when you think the big boiling bubbles will start, turn off the heat, cover, and let set for 10 minutes. Empty water, run cold water over them just enough to cool so you can handle them, and peel. I have heard this method on, "Cooking LIve" and Emeril's show as well. Good Luck!!! :0

Rosalie, you mentioned your walking tape. Is this an audio tape that you listen to while you walk, or is this a video. I'd love to find something that I could use inside. I usually leave at 6:30 to go to work in the mornings, and it is usually too hot when I get home in the afternoons. It is also late. I get home between 5:00 and 5:30, and by the time I fix dinner, and grade papers, or whatever, it's time for bed. (I get up at 4:30, so I need to get to bed early, or I am no good with the kids during the day).

I did okay at the luncheon yesterday:ate lots of raw cauliflower and broccoli with a little dip, chicken cor don bleu (sp???). I passed up the pasta, the pasta salad, and the desserts! One meal at a time, one meal at a time, one meal....you get the idea. :) :) :) LOL It was hard, but I kept thinking of all of you and I did it.

Today is another day...Three of us are going to the meeting, and are supposed to bring back lunch for the others, I have been trying to figure out what I will eat. Here's hoping I get inspiration soon.

Have a great day. I think of you even when I'm not posting individually.

Please excuse the typo's. I usually use "spell check" before I hit reply, but am in a hurry...

Morning Ladies –
Wow, 4 days in a row – I told you I’d be back….

Dad was moved from the hospital yesterday to a rehab facility that is in his own city. Altho he had to leave the doctor I was madly in love with, I Think this will be much better for him – or at least we get a day or two reprieve until the complaining starts, LOL. It is amazing, tho – 8 days ago he was on a table having part of his lung taken out. We live in a great age, don’t we?

Our major newspaper interviewed me yesterday about Sugarbusters. Remember I had mentioned that I had contacted the “diet” columnist because I was annoyed about the Atkins association? She called yesterday and interviewed me for ½ hour – I made sure she knew I was not the total expert at this plan, but I wanted to clear up the Atkins-like confusion and talk about how the plan works for me and how much easier it is than people think, and how much less restrictive. The article will be in the paper next Wednesday, so after I screen it and make sure I didn’t sound like an idiot, LOL, I will post the link for their online version. BTW I asked for anonymity, I really don’t need everyone in town getting details of my gestational diabetes, struggles with WW, etc. So I hope I have helped some people by clearing a little up – DEB – I was very tempted to give her your email address for further expertise, but I withheld!

I just ate my lunch for breakfast. It looked so yummy I had to – cold cooked Kashi with rinsed black beans, onions and wishbone Italian. It was sooooo goooddddd – I have to make a list of some of these successful, quick alternatives when I’m in a hurry, which I always am.

DS #1 is still at camp in the rain. Can you imagine what his clothes/sleepingbag/towels, etc are going to smell like when he gets home? Ick! I hope they’re having fun, he is a fun-loving, outgoing kid who always makes the best of things. I miss him!

Deb – your kids don’t go to camp anymore? Howcome? Did they do the NC thing like my friend’s FLA kids, or go more locally? Hmmmm, maybe you should send them back, remember I met DH at camp! No, silly, I didn’t think the Fluff was legal, just shared that to give you a clue on DH’s sparkling sense o’ humor, LOL. Getting hot down there, I bet…..

BOB – LOL on the Starbucks story! No offense, Deb, but I also find their blend very acidic…but it’s hot and fresh so I just throw in a sweet n lo and poision myself that way….Appalachians, you sure you’re not a New Yawka, girl?

Cheri – you are down almost 22 lbs and that is such a great accomplishment! Remember that!

Mary – congrats on the –2 and I am coming to Fla with you, okay?

Kimmi – I was just going to report on your absence and there you were! You are going through a good period of reassessment and whatever it takes to make it work for you, that’s all that counts. Why not have DH hide your scale for a bit (now make sure he doesn’t forget where he hid it, tho, because that’s what my DH did, thank goodness he’s such a hunk so I forgave him….) – take away the temptation, etc? You WILL be successful here, Kimmi, it’s just taking some fine tuning. Give yourself time, and remember…”I’ll be there, I’ll be there, Just call my name, I’ll be there…”(get the hook please)….

Ice – Do you walk on a treadmill indoors? The TV is my favorite accompaniment to my treadmill and I find it amusing when I watch the Food Channel and walk, LOL. If you can position a TV nearby, it does make the time fly.

I seem to have miraculously GAINED 2 lbs since returning (now come on, it’s not the Fluff) so hopefully I can get off that junk and continue with the otherwise perfect OP. Now that I am this area’s SB posterchild, oy, the pressure!!

Have a great day, all!

Good morning!

Wow, I've been off the list for several days and have TONS to read and catch up on! Congratulations to all the "losers" this week....unfortunately, I'm not one of them. I managed to gain back a pound this week.

It has been a busy and emotional week for me. Staying focused and being OP has not been a top priority, AND THAT HAS GOT TO CHANGE! I'm really frustrated w/myself.....I want to get below the 200 mark so bad!

I've been extra busy working with the Seniors getting ready for Graduation (tomorrow night..Yea!). Also, on Monday our school had its annual Honors Day program, which is a cermony where they give out all the academic awards for the year. Both my children received certificates for making all A's all year :D .

Most of you know my son's story, but those newcomers.....my son Ross (who is 10) was diagnosed w/leukemia back in October. It's been an emotional rollercoaster since then, and he has inspired me to finally do something about my weight. He's endured so much and still manages to keep a smile on at all times. He's in remission right now and doing GREAT. Anyway, at the Honors Day program, he was awarded the Bronze medal for the 4th grade class for having the 3rd highest overall average. Our headmaster made a little speach about how proud he was of Ross for accomplishing that considering all he's been through. Everyone gave him a standing ovation as the medal was placed around his neck. So many months of hard work....and faith....got him to that point, and I was so proud. Of course, I was bawling!

Guess what I ate for lunch that day? Three peices of pizza! Geesh....can you say "emotional eater???" Hopefully, life will settle down soon and I can get back on track. BOB...save me a seat in that wagon!

Good Thursday Morning Everyone!

Well, the scale isn't looking too kindly at me today. I'm up another pound from yesterday, total of 3.5 from my low, which makes me feel low. I don't know if it's hormonal, cake related or a combo of both. Yesterday I ate as if it was my last day on earth, on second thought, no, if it was my last day, I would of eaten everything BUT SB legal stuff! I ate way too much SB legal things-another day that nothing seemed to satisfy me. With those numbers on the scale staring me right in the eyes I felt like climbing back into bed and not exercising-BUT, I got out there and did the usual 4.5 miles. Anyhow, today, I am going to really watch myself and journal my eating and pray the scale will be better tomorrow.

I got an e-mail from STARCHASER and wanted to share it with you all:

Hey Deb,

Thanks for checking up on me last week. I've been rather ill. I had a lesion come up on the top of my foot. The doctors don't know if something bite me, such as a spider but my foot has been swollen and from the sore developed some sort of blood poisoning. I kinda of blew it off in the beginning but it has turned into a rather serious situation. I'm being monitored rather closely. Keep good thoughts for me and I hope to be back on the board soon.

Hope everyone keeps me in their prayers!

Blessings,
Gayle aka StarChaser

Just wanted you all to know what was going on with her.

TODAY IS RECIPE DAY so please try to post any SB LEGAL RECIPES you'd like to share with the board on the MAY RECIPE BOARD. I'll try to get a few up if I can today or tomorrow.

BOB, I guess you've already left town, but JUST in case you are able to find a computer and are having BOARD WITHDRAWLS I'll write to you anyhow. You better teach Skeeter how to fold and pack, he's got to earn his keep around there, tell him no free rides anymore! Besides, who needs rats when you've got a weiner dog!?! Loved the Starbucks escapade - I forwarded that part of your post to Eli in his e-mail - I let you know what he says!! I e-mailed Missy yesterday, haven't heard back from her yet. Have a safe and fun trip!

CHERI, congrats on the loss, you'll get back to where you were soon!

MELF, congrats on another 2lbs flushed down the drain! That's wonderful you're a pound away from your mini-goal! Maybe next time you come to FL you can come a little farther south, but then again, who knows, I may venture into LA one day before too long!!!

QUILTER, an official WELCOME BACK!!!! Boy, you have been missed by many! Thanks for sharing your story with us. I know from many experiences how hard it is to be on a plateau and do everything right and not see the scale move. Look at me right now, I weigh more than I did over 60 days ago! I know though, when I'm patient, I am rewarded. Always keep that in mind:) Where are you headed THIS weekend???

SPARKLE, so, has he called you again? I'd love to see the pics of you, with or without the hair! I'll have to check out your website again :) I'm working on an e-mail for you, but wanted to let you know I got it;) The Cheerios thing I have is for a desert type of recipe-I haven't tried it yet, but can post that as one of the recipes on the recipe board.

ICESKATE, thanks for correcting me on the eggs, I learn something every day! Good for you on the eating yesterday, and I'm sure you'll do fine today!!!!

VIV, sounds like your Dad is mending well, keep keeping us informed. I'm excited for you about the article - you BETTER let us see a copy!! Did you mention the board??? What's the name of the newspaper? UGH, you ate that for breakfast-oh well, to each his own-but to me, it definitely sounds better for lunch;) Kids went to camp outside of Ocala here in FL, about 5 1/2 hours from home, close, yet far enough. Michael wants to go to summer school to take some chemistry course, Lauren's not sure what she wants to do-they're getting older and I guess camp loses some of it's appeal when they get to be their age. They did go for 5 years, 5 wonderful quiet summers.... Hey, I miraculously gained 3.5lbs-must be something in the water!!!

LISA, congrats to you AND your children for a wonderful year at school. A special congrats to ROSS! You have the right to bawl, your a Mom!!! Don't worry about the pound, you're in good company this week:) You'll get below the 200 mark soon!!!

Okay gals, I HAVE to get in the shower, Eli is due home in 45 minutes!!!

I'll check in with you all later-Lauren is in a school play tonight and I have to go sell tickets at the door, so I may not get on until much later.

Have a wonderful day!!!

Deb - I purposely didn't mention the board - but I am going to email the writer and tell her people can email me if they have questions...I guess I am feeling very protective of the board. AND, this week, in her column, she reviewed some websites for dieting and here is the quote about 3fc....

"Readers have recommended a site called Three Fat Chicks (www.3fatchicks.com), which started, apparently, as diaries by three overweight sisters but is now big business - no double entendre intended.

But I see one chick dropped out because she couldn't handle it. This is not a good endorsement for the site. "

I was going to refute it, but again, I feel protective. I'd rather not have all my neighbors on my special site. Kinda funny, huh with 11,000+ members. She admits she is not into the web that way anyway......

Good Morning....or is it...ANother cyber-space disaster for me...and it's always on the 1/2 hour post I do! FOr some reason when I am on my DH's computer, I "log-in", and I post, then when I hit submit....it says I'm not logged in!!! DRIVES ME CRAZY!!!! I will have to take Sparklescamp up on her "word" advice.

VIV
The DH got the SB Ice Cream at ALbertsons. I don't know if that's a nation-wide grocery store or not, but if it isn't you could ask your stores GM to start ordering you some!

BOB
Obviously the MidgetsAre doing a great job because you had time to post!!!! Floyd wanted a message relayed to Skeeter to tell Mom to give him a bath after the long, hot car ride, that way Mom will have more time to post before the trip. I agree with the Starbucks comment, although I do love their House blend, and am drinking some right now! Guess what, Deb sent me a picture of you, Gatorgal, herself, and Mary(?)....after the way that you were carrying on, I was expecting a portrait of Gilbert Grapes Mom....What are you worried about, you're a Babe! GET THOSE NUMBERS POSTED ON THE BOARD!!!! Now what's the deal with were you are going? Do they have a computer or don't they? I need to know so I can adjust the volume that the Gnat will be buzzing in your ear if we go too long without hearing from you!

Cheri You've lost over 20 pounds?!?!?! WOW!!!
Double WOW!!!! You must be in a new clothing size...that's great!

MelfLoved the bathing suit story! Can totally relate. I just keep buying the generic girls Speedo at Costco, but one of these days I will get something more hip!

Quilter You're back!!!!! I missed you! Glad the wedding went well. Must have been fun to see your family and friends. I'll be interested to hear about your new book. I know what I am "The Pear"!!!! Not doubt about it! Thanks for sharing your ups and downs with us. I think when we eat right, drink our 64 ounces of water, and exercise 4 days a week, the plan works great and we loose. When we cheat a little, drink diet cokes, and our couch potatoes it's a different story. It's hard to do the right thing all the time. I just ask mnyself how quickly do I want this to come off, becuase the more I am non-compliant, the longer it is going to take. When I'm good, I see results. We all kind of know when we're not being :angel:good! Hope things start moving in the right direction for you!

ldblond
I can't eben leave a message for you on your VM at work? What is this world coming to???? When is this %*+!?*#!& training going to be over with???

Deb
I need a recipe for gooey bran muffins that are legal. I've been eating Trader Joes and they are 7 grams of the bad stuff. I'm addicted! Today mail is going from the west coast to the east coast. Don't fall over and faint!

Welll, I need to get off to work....ugh!

Iceskatefan - The tape I use is a walkaerobics videotape. It's called "2 Mile Walk" by Leslie Sansone. It's an excellent tape and I would recommend it. It takes about 30 minutes to complete the 2 miles. It's great to do on those days when you can't get out for real walking. And it's a good aerobic workout.

Hello!

It is a beautiful day in East Central Alabama, though we may get some storms later this afternoon. I'm busy trying to pack up one office and get another one set up. There sure is a lot to do to start one's own business!

I'm still puffy from TOM, but did get on the scale yesterday and had not gained anything--so that gives me great hope that when the TOM passes I'll register a loss. I'm reading the SB book again. I find I have to reread it every couple of months--just to review and make sure I haven't gotten sloppy. Just reading about the spikes in blood sugar caused by the wrong carbs helps me to keep focused!

BOB--have a good trip--if you are coming up I-85 you will pass right by me--wave when you see the Auburn sign! If I'd have read your post sooner I'd have tried to get in touch to see if we could meet!

Lisa--Hang in there girl--you do what you can and don't sweat the rest! You'll get there!

Chris--Love the website! I was on yesterday and am very impressed!

Viv and Kim--welcome back! I'm glad you are home safely from your travels. Kim, I expecially understand your doubts. I have them myself from time to time. But then I remember how much better I feel, and the weight loss really becomes secondary. It really is all about a more healthy lifestyle.

Star--I hope your foot heals soon. Meanwhile, know that we are thinking about you.

Everyone else--Have a good OP day! I'm looking forward to talking with Renee (Frog) tonight nad making definite plans to meet tomorrow. I'll let you know!

Good THURSDAY morning ladies!

Iceskatefan, good job on those veggies! It took me years to be able to handle choices with food....

Lisa, great to see you again!!! Congrats to both your kids. You’ve already had a big accomplishment weight-wise and you’ll get below that 200 mark soon!

StarChaser, I hope your foot gets better and you’re back posting soon!

Debbie, thanks!!! And good luck to Lauren...what is her character in the school play?

Nancy, that’s weird about the login. Maybe you have cookies disabled on your browser. Ask your DH if he knows about stuff like that. Yep, I ALWAYS save as I go! Do NOT trust my computer.

Susan, thanks for the compliment! I hope you and Froggie have fun tomorrow. I’m jealous! I wish I could hang with you gals.

******

Okay I choose to wash dishes instead of go to the gym this morning....they were getting pretty rank. Also, I must confess even though it was two days ago. But I have to stay honest! I impulsively bought a bag of chinese candied cherries (we call all that stuff “crack seed.” Actually, I bought one before but that was kinda hard and salty and this was more like dried fruit. Of course I ended up eating the whole bag (maybe 4 oz?) and littering my rubbish can at work...I HATE that, reminds me of the days when there was a thick layer of mini chocolate wrappers I had to hide! So although it wasn’t cheating to the same degree as eating a big old piece of chocolate cake would be, to me, (I do eat dried fruit in small quantities) I still feel yucky about it. I skipped the carbs entirely for lunch to try to balance things out.

Okay, gotta go. My time is strictly budgeted this morning....ya’ll got 20 minutes!!! ;) I am going out on our second date Friday (wish me luck!!!) so have to get my house cleaned tonight, ‘cause I’m going camping all weekend. So I won’t have time to post until Monday. But, I’ve been so into this board lately and will miss all of you!

HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND!!!!

Lots of love,

Chris

OKAY, confession! I was so mad about being up yesterday that I weighed this morning and, wouldn’t you know it – DOWN 2 lbs from yesterday!! That’s to 204.5. I’m definitely going to do the measurement thing (are you reading NANCEMEISTER???) I’m sure that the measurements haven’t changed much from yesterday – so that would at least have been some consolation.

Also --- I'll be posting the oatmeal cookie recipe today on the board. AND, if I can find them - some quick little cottage cheese recipes.

DEBBIE – Isn’t it nice to hear the plunking of rain?!? We FINALLY got some rain at home. I know the plants are much happier now. That weight will come off! It HAS to!! Those Luzianne flavorings sound awesome! I’m going to have to try them. Thanks for telling us about them.

ICESKATEFAN – Like VIV, I have my “slide rule” with me most of the time if you have the info on your soy milk. They vary so much that if I gave you my points it might not coincide with yours. One of us gals should be able to get you the points relatively quickly. I think it was Debbie who posted the quote from Ralph Marston on achievement being a series of right decisions made consistently. That’s what you’re doing!!! We do the best we can and we don’t beat ourselves up too much over the other ones. Congrats!

VIV – I’d love to have some direction on this breathing thing! My e-mail is solshine@moav.net whenever you have time. I think you also may still have my work e-mail from right before your trip (but I ain’t gonna post that one! :) ) Looking forward to reading about our ‘anonymous’ friend when you post the article! I’m kinda protective of our thread home here, too. I’m really vague when I tell others about “my SB-support group on the ‘web.” Don’t know if it’s just ‘cause I don’t want people I know to know all the things about me that I share with y’all or because I don’t want us to get so big we can’t keep up with each other – (how selfish of me!) LOL!! I have found myself eating my lunch soon after getting to work before and then I spend the rest of the morning trying to figure out what I’m gong to do for lunch.

CATLOVER – I think it’s a continuing process with me, too, trying to figure out this eating stuff. I have to come up with a back up plan for when I have to work late – ‘cause on those days I don’t eat supper and that’s just as bad. Low calorie days too long puts our bodies in starvation mode and slows the metabolism.

I’m sure the other advice is the best, but as for me – I absolutely will not tolerate soft-boiled eggs and I have no idea how to know if they are old or fresh. (mine must always be older ‘cause this works great.) <Martha Stewart I am not!> I cover the eggs with water and boil the crap out of ‘em (that means a really long time) then I immediately run very cold water over them (supposedly the egg shrinks inside the shell from the cold water). Then I knock it on the bottom of the sink and roll the egg around gently until the egg has little cracks all over it – the egg usually starts to slide out from that point or it’s very easy to peel away. This little method has cut down dramatically my ‘sailor language’ in the kitchen. :D

CHERI – Way to hang in there! We are winning the health race anyway you look at it.

MARY – I didn’t mean to scare you away from Canaveral Seashore. I’m glad you are still planning to go to your favorite part of it! I know your schedule is going to be busy when you’re here, but if you’re going to have some time for a face to face chat with some SB chicks – I’m up for trying to schedule a meeting!

QUILTER!!!! So glad to see you back!!! Yeppers! Sounds like you are doing really well figuring out what works for YOU! This is a WOE and we are building lifestyles for ourselves so it does have to be something that we are comfortable with, that we don’t obsess over and that doesn’t keep us from enjoying life and spending time on those big rocks in our lives. Some things come easier and more naturally for some people that are pains in the *** for others. I can’t write everything down – I’m trying, but, it’s just not working. I keep saying that once I get used to doing it - it will either come naturally OR I’ll have such a good handle on the stats of what I eat that I won’t need to. There’s the learning curve and then there’s what system works for each one of us personally. Congratulations, I think, are in order! You’ve just removed tons of stress from yourself! Do you feel lighter?

RHOO – Good to hear from you and your soon-to-be 13something self! You’ll be there soon!

BOB – (just in case you’re lurking) They’ve started the football pre-season commercials for Budweiser now! It’s going to be here before we know it!

SPARKLE – I think it’s quite appropriate that you meet someone over the Internet! You web-savvy woman, you!! Now if he only proves to be worthy of our energetic little ‘hell on wheels’! :) Got your e-mail and will get back with you soon!

LISA – I teared up reading about Ross’s award. How awesome for him to be recognized for his grades and hard work! What an awesome mom he has who helps him be his best!! Did that pizza kill you? I know last time I had it I was in bed within hours of eating it – wiped out and fighting a headache. I know I won’t go there anytime soon again.

FILLISE – How’s the new business set up going? It IS a lot!! I have the utmost respect for you being able to put all that together. So many details and things to be on top of besides the actual ‘business’ end of things. Be sure to tell FROG hi for us!!

STAR – Looking forward to some good news from you!

Sorry if I missed anyone!!

Vince is fixing us salmon steaks tonight and I’m counting the hours! He and Eli must be related down the road somewhere. He knows how much I love Boston Market’s spinach (which is SB friendly, by the way) and is going to pick some of that up on his way home to have with the steaks. My mouth is watering just thinking of it!

Hey Gals!

Thought I'd get in a quickie before I had to run to get Lauren from school.

Eli & I ended up having lunch at Bennigans, it's been at least 5 years since we went there, only went because I had a coupon. Ended up getting the Boca Burger with no bun.

Feeling nauseaus this afternoon, and very tired. I hope it's not a bad Boca Burger!LOL! Usually, and I say usually when I get like this it's hormonal and I usually see a loss the following day - lets hope!:)

VIV, if you are anonymous, why not tell them about the board? I understand though that this is your little secret though and I too find myself sometimes trying not to give people the site that I've met, I feel like my cover is blown sometimes, or that I don't think they really are interested in SB, just voyering. Understand? Too bad she didn't give a better report about the site-I'm sure Suzanne would love to see the review though!

NANCE, I can get you bran muffin recipes, but ones that are gooey??? That sounds more like bran and caramel muffins to me!!!!

FILLISE, hoping you and FROG can get together tomorrow-we'll be waiting for a report!!!

SPARKLE, Lauren plays a teenager in a play called FAMILY ALBUM. She's pretty good at acting, but then again, I AM her Mother! Hye, another date, good luck! Hope you have a wonderful time!!!!!

SOL, see, as I have said all along, patience is one of the keys to success on this WOE! Way to go with going down 2lbs!!!

Okay, gotta run, Lauren gets out of school in a couple minutes!!!

Later!

I was just lurking while my last class is finishing up a writing assignment, saw the name of the tape, found it on Amazon.com, ordered it, and should ship within 24 hours. Hope to have it at the beginning of next week, and I can then join the movers and shakers on this board!!! LOL

Hi all..

You all are such good posters (as in posting to this board). I sure do enjoy reading your thoughts and sentiments.

I have a question...does anyone ever get breast pain? I've had a dull pain in my breast off and on for a week. I started getting a bit freaked and went to visit my gyn. He thoroughly felt around and assured me I have nothing to worry about. He said breast pain is normal and is not indicitive of a more serious problem (I guess he didn't want to say the c word out loud). I was happy with that response, but now I'm wondering if many ppl experience it? If you have any scary cancer stories, I seriously don't think I want to hear them! I will dwell on them too much. I trust my doctor completely, but wanted some info from other women, and I don't plan on bringing this up in the faculty room!! Thanks for any insights you can provide!

My new favorite meal is scrambled eggs with cheese and lots of spinach. Sometimes I use egg beaters and sometimes real eggs. I use frozen chopped spinach and whatever cheese I have on hand. I buy Cabot's low fat when available, but I haven't found any other low fat cheese that I like, so sometimes I'll use regular. I love cheese!!

Here's an idea for a poll DEB...what's your favorite SB legal comfort food? I'll tell you mine! I LOVE pb and jelly (the legal versions of both) rolled up in a sgww wrap. I usually sprinkle raw oatmeal over the pb&j before I roll it up. I LOVE IT! Question...is oatmeal a starchy carb like bread?

MELF..I know just how you felt when you went clothes shopping! It is better than seeing a loss on the scale in my opinion. I'd love to buy some more clothes but I don't want to spend the $$. I'd rather spend it on rubber stamp supplies!!

I'm off to go on the treadmill.

KIM...your goals sound great. I was amazed that I could actually run on the treadmill at all! I bet you'll find you can surpass your running goals once you get a bit conditioned. Reading any good books? THat's what keeps me on the treadmill.

I work in a doctors office...blah...blah...blah....alot of women have breat pain due to too much caffiene, and also can have pain around their cycles. Some woman have breat pain when they are ovulating as well as when they are PMS. If you do drink caffiene, the rule of thumb is two glasses of water for every one cup of caffiene. See if that helps.

NANCEMEISTER - You totally crack me up! I don't know if I'll post my measurements - but I'll certainly post my inches lost as they start to move. Right now I'm thinking I just lost a chin. I don't remember seeing how to measure that, do you know?

ICESKATEFAN - Now THAT'S what I call motivation and ambition!! Ask a question - get an answer - act on it. You inspire me!! You'll be posting losses and telling us how healthy and great you feel every week at that rate!

ASHLEY - Mine used to get extremely tender right before "Dudley" came to visit, but lately I haven't had that problem. I'm glad your doctor was able to reassure you that it's nothing and it was very tender of him to not mention the "c" word. I especially like how NANCEMEISTER gave you some reasons 'why' you might have the pain and what to do about it. Even if something is 'nothing' I want to know what causes it and what I can do about it - that 'just gotta live with it' crap doesn't cut it for me. (Not that that's what your Dr. said, just glad Nance gave us good information. :) )

Okay, back to writing letters I've been remiss in doing.

Hello Everyone!!!

Has anybody told you all lately just how absolutely WONDERFUL you are???? Well, those are my feelings and I mean it from my heart’s bottom. I continue to marvel at the huge amount of positive support that’s generated from you people. Thanks for the great welcome back. I feel like saying, “It’s good to be home.” Thanks to all!!!

I’ve not caught up on the posts but will respond to what I’ve covered.

ICESKATEFAN---I was so thrileed to see your response about boiling eggs. This has always been a source of confusion for me and have had many a yoke as hard as a rubber ball. I’ll be referring back to your directions the next time I make tuna salad. Thanks for sharing. BTW, I love Cooking Live. Don’t you just feel like you know her???

VIV---Got your email . . . you make me laugh!!! Hey, that’s so cool about your paper. I can’t wait to get a look at it. I don’t blame you for being “the unnamed expert.” I would have done the same exact thing. Your cooked Kashi conglomeration sounded great!!! Thanks for the encouragement. I may have Paul get rid of the scales for a while. The funny thing is he weighs himself EVERY morning. He doesn’t do anything about losing weight, but he still weighs in everymorning. Guess he’s hoping for a miracle or something. Ha! Don’t worry about your gain. It’ll come back off easier the second time . . . let’s hope!

LISA---Oh, the account of your son’s award had me in tears. No wonder you ate pizza. I think the sugar buster authors would have probably scarfed a few pieces down too after something that emotional. That’s so great how you have used his strength and courage as a catalyst for you to get going with your health issues. Sending lots of good thoughts your way.

DEB---Thanks for sharing Starchaser’s email. I will definitely put her in my prayers and good thoughts. Yes, I am trying to be patient. I’m actually trying to be “okay” with where I am right now. I so want this to be about health and not about a certain number. But truthfully, if I could fit into my next size down jeans, I would be jumping for joy. There’s no kidding about that. I do think that the combination of the yoga and the treadmill interval stuff is a good match. I think I see a tiny difference in my thighs. If the lighting is JUST right and I hold them at a particular angle and squint real hard, they look a little smaller. Teehee. Did you ever send me the pic of you and VIV? I haven’t seen them yet. I’m back on the board and not going anywhere for any extended time, so it’s okay to send them.

NANCE---You are TOO MUCH. Thanks for the warm thougths. I did have to laugh when you said you were “a pear.” I’ve been calling myself “Queen of the Pear-shaped Syndrome” for over half my life. This book doesn’t use that term. He calls my type “The Nurturer.” It’s complicated and I still don’t get it . . . I just know that Nurturers have big hineys and little boobies. And that’s all I need to know . . . just about sums it up for me. You brought up a good point that there are numerous ways to be that are not actually cheating but are hazardous to our getting to our goals. Like the diet pop and being couch potatoes. I needed reminded of that.

FILLISE---Thanks for the reminder about how a good SB read will get everything back into focus. I’m due for sure. I’ve had my share of sugar over the past week and it does drag me down. Here’s something interesting that I hadn’t realized before. One day at work after a few consecutive days of eating illegal stuff, I got REALLY sleepy. Like the kind of sleepy where you absolutely cannot hold your head up off your desk. Well, I got the loud and clear signal that those heavy eyelids had NOTHING to do with being weary. It was from all the sugar and white carbs I had been feeding myself. I hadn’t realized that it had been a LONG time since I had experienced that exhausted feeling and I could honestly say that since I had started SB in January, I hadn’t had one single day where I just wanted to lay down anywhere aat work and nap. It was a good lesson that I learned.

SOLSHINE---Congrats on the 2 pound loss. You are getting ready to jump over a fantastic hurdle in your weight. How exciting for you!!!!! Way to go!!!!! I really appreciated what you said about how we are creating lifestyles for ourselves with this new way of eating. How true!!! Let’s just enjoy the ride and be so happy when we have a great moment. Yes, the stress is leaving.

OVERCOME---I can’t really help you on the breast pain thing. Never had it other than during PMS which only lasts a couple of days. Have you checked it out on the internet at some reliable health sites? That might give you a clearer picture of what might be causing it. I am reading too many things at once. Just can’t settle down into one thing. Right now I have open: Visions of Irma Blau by Ursula Hegi, The Body Code, The Four Agreements Companion book, and another little mystery. I truly hate when I do this. Can’t settle down with one thing and want to take on too much at once. Then none of them get the respect they are due. Oh well, I didn’t even finish Scarlet Feather. I think part of it has to do with this mind/body funk I’m working through. But I still use my tm bookrack and think of you everytime. It sure does make my workout easier.

Well, gals, I know I’ve miss some of you, but I just had to get on and say another hey. You all have a great evening and a super-terrific holiday weekend. I’m headed out for Indiana tomorrow. Going to my bros. DH is spending the weekend with his brothers to make music and record some stuff. They have a song on mp3.com. It’s called “Rock and Roll the Night” and their band is called The Rockinghorse Opera. Check it out. It really is a great song. If you enjoy rock and roll, that is. Listen everyone, be good. I may not be able to get on while away. But I’ll try. They only have dial-up and I hate to tie up their one line. Be talking at ya soon.
Take care.

Sparkle--A great book to read about time management is The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People, by Steven Covey. It is a great book, and even guides you to think about your purpose in life. That is, what your mission is. What will people say about you at your funeral if you keep living like you are, and what do you really want them to say? How can you change how you are living and what your are doing to affect what they would say? The book is also on tape? I found it very helpful.

BOB--I know you are gone now, but if you check in, but lots of pole beans. The only trouble with beans is that you have to snap them. And some pole beans have strings. I had some WONDERFUL “fried” cabbage tonight, made with Wileys! It tasted so country--so soul foodish.

We are having several couples over for a party this Memorial Day weekend. There should be 9 of us. We are fixing a mixed grill: marinated salmon, basted shrimp and lamb chops with dijon mustard sauce. Then a wonderful green salad, and (oops) fresh corn on the cob. I know, its a no-no. It is so wonderfully sweet and fresh right now and so partyish. Then we’ll have strawberry shortcake, with fresh strawberries and cream on top. All that with some sangria and we’ll have a great time! I’ll just have to cool it with the corn! :(

It still is nice outside, even though we’ve turned on the AC. We ate on the patio tonight and there was a lovely breeze. The fish were swimming and the water falls were splashing and in all it was great. We had sirloin patties, cabbage, green beans and yellow squash.

Well, gotta go. Still have to fold the clothes. Take care all.

Good Friday Morning Everyone!

Just got home from my walk. I did the usual 4.5 miles with 20 small jogs - not much faster than I did it when in 15 jogs, but still trying. I did it in 54:45, not too bad. It is overcast today, but still brutally hot, it's too early to be 80 degrees already!

Lauren did wonderful in her play, did her lines perfectly and projected them well. I'm really proud of her, but of course, I am her Mom!;)

Scale is back down, but not all the way down, still up 2lbs, here's hoping!

Today is FRIDAY FIT FACTS and I thought this was worth sharing:

When cooking with oil, use only small amounts, and replace those high in saturated fat with oil higher in unsaturated fat. Saturated fat clogs your arteries; you
want to avoid saturated fat whenever possible and keep your total saturated fat calories to less than 10 percent of your daily food intake. Four oils are high
in saturated fats are: coconut, palm, palm kernel, and cocoa oil. You should not only avoid purchasing these oils, also stay away from commercial baked goods
and processed foods made from them.

Unsaturated fats come in two types: monounsaturated and polyunsaturated. Mono-unsaturated oils include olive, peanut, and canola oils. Poly-unsaturated fats include corn, safflower, and sesame oils. There is little evidence that one is better for you than the other. Many studies, however, have shown that one specific oil, olive
oil, may lower levels of LDL ("bad") cholesterol. You can use olive oil as a substitute for every oil in the kitchen - not only for frying and sautéing, but for baking as well.

Three different grades of olive oil are available: pure, virgin, and extra-virgin. Each one varies in taste and color. If you are shopping for oil for stir-frying or baking, pure olive oil is the best. Virgin and extra-virgin oil are higher grades and are best for light sautés or for drizzling on pasta, vegetables, or bread.

Remember, no one says you have to use oil when cooking, baking, or as a topping. Try apple juice, applesauce, vinegar, cooking sherry, wine, and broth instead of oil for cooking. Or you might first want to try cutting back on the amount of oil a recipe calls for and add one of the above liquids. Nonfat salad dressings
or marinara sauce can replace oil as a topping on salads, pastas, or bread. Pureed fruits and egg whites also work very well as oil replacements.

NANCE, thanks for the reprive. I have a few bran recipes I will send you and then you can decide which you'd like to try. There is one on the Feb. 2001 recipe board that I'd recommend trying, even though I personally haven't made that particular one, BUT, everything I have made from the book where it came from has been excellent, and with my cooking skills, that says a LOT! Here's the link to that board:

http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/showthread.php?postid=17016&highlight=bran+muffins#post17016

Please let me know if you make them-I'll e-mail some others later and if you make one of the ones I send, and like it, we'll post it on the board.

OVERCOME, only time I get pain in the breast is during mid-cycle usually. Now, if you had asked me about pains in the butt, I could give you a million instances!!!!! I have lots of omlettes too with egg beaters, but recently found Albertsons has their own brand and a lot cheaper. It's in a container equiv. to 15 eggs and was about $3.69 which I thought was pretty decent. I too love Cabots cheeses, esp the 75% less fat one, when I can find it! Yes, oatmeal is a startchy carb. Thanks for the poll tip!

QUILTER, again, we're all glad your back, and I'm sure Paul is glad too! His he still doing it with you?? Yes, I too think I see a difference in my thighs, when the light from the cresent moon hits them while I sleep!!LOL!! Thank your lucky stars you have nice thighs, mine look like I stole them from the last Barnum and Bailey circus elephant that left town! I haven't sent the pictures-I'm a procrastinator and I totally admit it. A defininte sickness. I WILL get them out next week, do or die! I hope you and CHERI can meet up this weekend, and at Starbucks, you'll make Eli proud!!!

FILLISE, we'll be waiting for a full report! Enjoy!!!! Take pictures!!!! Giver each other a big hug from all of us!!!!

Gotta run and get into the shower, I'm starting to ferment!!!!

Hello to All:

As Deb shared with everyone yesterday, I've been down and out with my foot for a couple weeks. I don't know exactly what happened. I went fishing one day and the next day I noticed a small lesion on my foot. Problem is I ignored it and it got worst. I ended up with a serious blood posion problem. HOPEFULLY, I'll be on the mend soon.

And today, I'm faced with another small crisis. My best friend of sixteen years (the one who would do the happy dance with me when I had a weight loss) BOGART is being put down today at 4:00 p.m. He has kidney failure with a host of other old age problems.
I know he's just a dog, but he has spent a big chuck of my life with me. I'll miss him terribly.

He is the best dog a person could have.

Hope to be back chatting with you guys soon.

Blessings,

StarChaser - We're praying fervently for your speedy healing and your heart. I'm so sorry to read about BOGART. Pets become a member of the family and it's no easier to learn to live without them. My heart goes out to you.

My Friday Fit Fact is posted on the recipe board. There is a page of ideas for quick recipes with cottage cheese. Cottage cheese is high in protein, low in fat and easily available - even in convenience stores. It's a great sub for higher fat cheeses, too.

I'm taking it to the mechanic tomorrow so I can survive the summer! Why am I living here? Maybe my SB buddies should tell me about their states and I could sell the house and jump ship!

Well, the last few fleeting minutes of my lunch hour are over....gotta get back to work, but at least we close the office an hour earlier on Fridays! Whoo-Hoo!

I'll check in with you gals later!

I am here I am just lurking :lol I guess I am just getting to know all of you by reading your daily posts. I am here reading them daily. I am getting excited that the weekend is almost here. I am leaving work early and I plan to enjoy this weekend at the beach and having friends over for BBQ's.

I am doing okay I think on my new way of eating. Yesterday we did go out for lunch and I had a flour tortilla oh well. Today I waited too long between meals and stopped at Carl's Jr and got the grilled chicken sandwich on wheat bun. I know the BBQ sauce isnt SB legal but I am trying. I have been bummed getting on the scale every morning and not seeing a change. I think I am going to go out and buy a new scale as this one is old and I am constantly adjusting it to zero. Its not a digital one. Look at me now I am blaming my scale for not losing weight.

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. I will be here lurking and probably posting.

Evening!

Nothing exciting to report here, just ran around to the grocery store today. Eli is working this evening, kids are going with their Dad soon and I have the house all to myself - QUIET & PEACEFUL!!!

NANCE, have a WONDERFUL TIME tonight with THE MAN! Are you still going to Mexican for dinner? I hope I don't see you on the board this evening, if you get my drift! Ummm, I want to move from here, so you won't get any good reasons from me to come here! Five more years, and I'm gone! Where? Not sure yet, but North I go!!! Definitely NOT somewhere where it's hotter than here-no a/c, no way!

STAR, glad to have you back on the board. I hope you get back to 100% really soon. I'm so sorry to hear about BOGART, I know how hard that is to do (okay, I'm teary eyes). I had a miniature schnauzer that had the same thing, but she only lived half the age of Bogart. My Mother had to have her put to sleep, I'll never forget her face. It's the hardest thing I've ever had to deal with besides the death of my Grandmother. Here I am 20 years later and I still haven't gotten over her. My Mother said she was my furry sister, and she was. My heart is with you:angel: I can totally relate. {{HUGS}}

TIGGER, remember, Rome wasn't built in a day. Some of us can go full force into this and others just have to easeeee on into it. You do the best you can, that's all anyone ever asks. We've had scale discussions here quite a few times. I personally don't care for digitals, they tend to fluctuate, at least they have for me in the past, maybe they've gotten better these days. I like the HEALTH-O-METER, I think we got ours at KMart. Don't worry about what the scale says, think about how you feel and what good you are doing for your body :)

I'll check in with you all later! Have a great weekend and enjoy the holiday on Monday if you don't get on before then!

Hi all! Just a short note to let yall know I will be lurking and not responding for awhile, until I can reassess my
reasons for eating this way. Lately it seems I have been going off plan sweet-wise. I think I am subconciously sabotaging myself. It seems I have a SF FF dessert everynite, and have an Alba shake in the afternoon. Dont knowwhat I need to do to lose the sweet tooth. I really want to lose the weight and stick with this plan, but I have to get to a point where I can be really serious about it. Anyway maybe I will be ready to give SB 100% instead of 50% on Tuesday. I will reread the book and maybe get mentally prepared.

Sparkle- I wont know about the results of lab tests til next week. Will post the results. Have fun on your 2nd date!!!!

Tiggerme- Its best not to weigh every day. Let the way your clothes fit be your guide. You can go up and down on the scale any given day. We all have that problem. Just stay on plan and you should do okay.

Deb - went out and bought the raspberry flavor of Luzianne flavorings. I like the peach but not a mango lover. might try the strawberry kiwi next time. It definitely helps with getting the allotted water down.

Everybody else sorry if I dont respond personally. I welcome your comments, and you are like family to me.

Hope everyone has a happy Memorial day. Im supposed to go play golf with Dh and friends if the courses arent to crowded.

Star--I'm so sorry to hear of losing your sweet little dog. I remember when my favorite cat died. I cried for 3 days and my DH cried for one. Yes, our pets do become a member of the family. And they are so wonderful because they just love you with no strings attached. Can you imagine a dog pouting, or sulking around, or arguing with you! No!! That's why they are so great. When you're ready, maybe you can add a new little furry member to your family.

I had a wonderful day. I got SO much done. I finished preparing for my class I teach on Sundays, and then I re-covered the seat to a wicker chair in my kitchen. It has been sitting there with the fabric for 2 weeks, and now it looks so nice. I got all the ironing done, and washed another load of clothes so there are NO Dirty CLOThes! in this house. :) Yippee! Then I fertilized all the water lilies and cleaned the fish pond of stray leaves and trimmed the yellowing waterlily leaves off. I called and made an appt. for my yearly dentist visit, and called another service person for another minor problem. I decorated a T-shirt with applique` of gators and then used fabric paint to decorate it. It looks great. My house is all clean and I just have a couple of minor chores to take care of. What a great feeling!

I think I ate pretty well today. If anyone can help with an idea of how many calories I had today, it would be great. I'm trying to eat about 1300.
Breakfast: 1 egg (80) 1 10 glass grapefruit and OJ-fresh (about 120? cals.) 1 thin slice wheat bread (40 cal.)

Lunch: Chicken caesar salad: Purchased at Costco--didn't eat all the chicken and only had about 2 Tbs. dressing. Guessing 300 cals. What do you all think?

Snack: green beans, cooked cabbage, yellow squash, meat from one chicken thigh, no skin. Cals.???

Dinner: 1 fresh tomato-from my garden :) lettuce (frisee) from my garden, minced basil olive oil, about 1 Tbs. and balsamic vinegar, yellow squash casserole (yellow squash, 1 egg, and 2.5 oz. cheddar cheese, I ate half of this so I think it would be about 200 cals.), and then flank steak cooked on the grill. I had about 6 oz.

Lots of H2O. Debelli, do you think all this is more or less than 1300 calories?

Well, gotta go. One of the remaining chores is to write an assessment of the weekend that I just facilitated. So I'll get to that now. Have a great weekend.

Hello! I meant to post before now, but just got home.

I did meet Renee (Frog) for lunch today. I really enjoyed it--it was fun getting to know her in person, which, as wonderful as technology is, in person is still best! I even got to see pictures of the spewer! We decided the Florida girls are having too much of the fun getting together--and we struck a blow for the NC/Alabama gals!

After lunch I stayed in Columbus to shop (there really isn't much in the way of shopping in Auburn). I found a beautiful slacks outfit on sale (Delta Burke's line) that will be perfect for wearing to the theater in NYC. And it was on sale--YES!!! A very comfortable 2x (this time last year it is doubtful whether I could have squeezed into a 4x). I also found a pair of pale yellow jeans thatI just fell in love with. They were 24's--which I thought would be fine since I usually wear a size larger in jeans--but nope they were too big. Too bad because they were really pretty and would have fit well otherwise. I'm seriously considering driving to Montgomery tomorrow to the Parisian's there to see if they have a pair in a 22. To make matters worse they were marked down 25% on an extra 50% off rack. I'd have gotten them for something like 12 bucks!

BTW I'm down a pound today to a new low--247!! Yipee!

I hope everyone has a good holiday weekend!

Happy Saturday Everyone:D

This is my first post this week which is unusual. I couldn't shake the virus I had and am now just starting to feel better.

Both my children went to boy/girl dances last night and then spent the night out. Hubby and I were able to go out to eat and have a nice night to ourselves :) My daughter had a date for her dance and was so so excited. My son who is not quit into girls yet just went to have fun. My daughter will be in high school in the fall and I can't believe how quickly time passes. For those of you with babies...enjoy each moment because before you know it you turn around and they are so grown up!

Well I haven't had any trouble maintaining this week...in fact being sick I lost a couple of pounds. I am down to fluctuating between 133 and 134...

Deb: you will get there soon. Have faith.

To everyone else congrats on staying on program. Remember it is really not the scale that matters but how you feel...

Good Saturday Morning All:wave:

Just got home from some garage sales, very few and the ones that were out there sucked big time. Wasn't worth even getting up today to go.

CATLOVER, my personal opinion is, if you don't fully get the sugar out of your system then you crave sweets. AND, I have also learned that when I find a SB legal "treat" I have no willpower if there is more than one serving-I found this out with that WW SPONGE CAKE. Yet, with other stuff, like chocolate, I easily cane stay away from it. If you could limit yourself to 1 SB legal treat a day, that would be helpful, but maybe start out with no treats until you get rid of the desire for something sweet. Don't lurk, stay with us, tell us how you are feeling and doing, that's what we're here for-SUPPORT!! We all want you to lose the weight too and we'll try to help you figure out why you are having small setbacks. BTW, how did you like the Luzianne flavoring you bought?

GATOR, maybe a bit over, not sure though. 6oz of flank has 385 calories, 21 grams of fat, approx. You may have had a bit too much in the fat dept, with the caesar dressing (unless FF), the eggs, the cheese, the olive oil for taking in 1300 calories, but if so, it's not too much over if it is.

FILLISE, thanks for giving us a report on your meeting with FROG! Did either of you take pictures??? I'm so glad you had the chance to meet, like you say, in person is much different, than on the computer! Hope you find those pants you are looking for!!!! Hey, and congrats on the loss and the new low, way to go!!!!

BEACH, glad you are feeling better! I can't believe you are down so low on the scale, you must look like a million bucks and speaking of looking...when are you going to get that picture you promised so long ago posted??????????:?: I'm waiting patiently!!!! Me get to goal, it seems like my body just enjoys playing a game with me! At this point, whenever it happens, it won't be soon enough for me. :)

Okay gals, time for me to find something to make for brunch! I'll check in with you all sometime later.

Have a great weekend!

Yes, I am a Newbie. At least to this Board, but not to dieting. I have tried them all! The SB woe is terrific, I do not feel deprived of anything. I do like my starches!

I started SB sometime mid February, I knoW the SB book had to be back to library on 2/10 and then I had to get a mind set for myself.

My doctor had mentioned SB two years ago when I first moved here. Being overweight almost all my life, I shrugged and said "Yeah, sure!". Then in January my triglycerides soared. So I borrowed the book and decided I could do this. I have lost 28-30# since then. But lately it is seesawing and I can't seem to get beyond that 30# mark. My clothes do show big change. I also did not measure when I started so don't know where I stand in that department.

I have enjoyed reading a lot of the back posts. I hope I can be an accepted contributor with worthwhile thoughts.

Deb, I want to thank you for the recipes. I have not been out because I've had a bug of some kind that is making the rounds here, so I don't have the agave liquid or Splenda yet, but I will get it.

I know what starchaser is going through with the loss of Bogart. I had to put my companion of 15 years down for the same reason. I miss her greeting me at the door and being with me.

Overcome, I was curious where you live in the Poconos. I lived in Milford for 36 years and only moved because of health problems and financial changes after my husband died. We don't have mountains or even hills here. I do miss them.

I now live with my son, daughter-in-law and granddaughter.

Someone wrote in about hardboiling eggs. I don't know how to tell if an egg is old. But if it is bad it will float instead of sinking to the bottom of the pan.

I guess I've written too much. If there are rules about format, quantity of writing, etc., please let me know.

Evening to all who venture on the board this Saturday night!

I did absolutely NOTHING today! I fell asleep for a little over 2 hours this afternoon, the highlight of my day! It rained, finally, so maybe it was something in the air:rolleyes:

BIGO, glad to know you got there safely, even though you took a detour. I like detours actually, unless I have to be somewhere at a specific time. THOUGH, when Eli and I were in Europe, the 2 times I lied down in the car, I found myself in countries I hadn't expected to visit, Holland and Spain! Needless to say, whoever first mentioned that men and directions don't mix sure knew what they were talking about! LOL:lol: I hadn't even realized that statement to Kim myself, a slight slip of the tongue. So, they have a low-carb store there? Hope you find some of the Carbolite soft serve there-let me know if you find anything interesting!!!

SEF, WELCOME TO THE BOARD! I'm glad you decided to join us! You're among quite a few LA gals on this board! Sounds like you are doing very well since you started SB-that's a wonderful loss! Don't worry if you don't see a loss for a while. As long as you know you are OP and doing everything as you should be, just be patient and you will see the scale move down. Your body may just be adjusting to the loss you have had. Do you know if you are eating enough? That could be a culprit and have been for some, so make sure you know if you are/aren't. But, like you said, your clothes have shown a difference, and I'm sure you must be feeling better, and that says more than what the numbers on the scales say. There are no guidelines here on the board, as you can tell. OMG, if there were quantity of writing rules, we'd probably all be guilty of breaking it!! I'm sure you will be a wonderful asset to our board. PLEASE, don't hesitate to ask and questions you may have-we are all in this big boat together and we're all happy to help each other, umm, on second thought, there are a few that are going by wagon! But they should be back on the big boat soon!!!! Thanks for posting your BIO on the BIO BOARD as well, love getting to know more about you!!! Again, WELCOME!

Eli is due home soon, not sure what he's going to want to do about dinner. I hate eating so late, so maybe just some beans or salad, or beans with salad - gosh, I hate to cook!!!!!!!!!

Check in with you all sometime tomorrow. Hoping the weather is nice in the morning to get in a walk. Wanted to go today but the weather didn't cooperate, so it was my usual day off.

Happy Memorial Weekend to everyone!

Sorry I haven't been posting. I've been reading all week but started feeling a cold coming on about Tuesday and was really feeling bad by Wed. I'm still all stuffed up. Didn't feel like being on the computer much so I didn't post.

I was also kind of bummed 'cause I got my blood work back this week (cholesterol check 'cause I'm on Zocor). I was really expecting everything to get better. The only thing that was good was my triglycerides really improved, but everything else got a little worse. My liver enzymes were a little over the normal range so I have to be tested again in 3 months. I've been on the Zocor now for about 18 months and this is the first time the enzymes were up. Hope it was a fluke and not the beginning of a problem which would cause me to have to go off the medicine. Like I said, I was really thinking all the numbers would get better since I'm eating so much better. Guess I better do some adjusting in my choices AGAIN!.

At least the scale is down since I've been sick with this cold--didn't have much of an appetite. I'll be happy if it stays off, that's for sure.

Really sorry to hear about Bogart--we brought home a dog last September and she's becoming a big part of the family in that short time. So, I can only imagine after the years how strong your bond had grown. You'll be in my prayers!

DEB - the garage sales are in high gear now. You mentioned before how they start on Sat. by you. In the last few years the big day here has been either Thurs. or Fri. Saturdays are slow unless you only have a one day sale. I guess a lot of people feel that if the sale started on Fri. and they couldn't get there, by Sat. the good stuff is gone and they don't stop. I used to do a lot more looking when Michael was smaller and I wanted clothes and toys. Now I don't go out much 'cause I don't have room for anything else! I sometimes think about going just to see if there would be some steal out there where the owners don't know they have something valuable, but that would never happen to me.

BOB - glad you are back on the board. Hey, women aren't supposed to get lost, men are! Glad you made it to where you had to be. I wish I could do something like that with my mom still, but she's not capable of a trip like that any more.

Sparkle - ....Love is in the air??????? Second date, huh? He sounds like a gentleman--maybe even a keeper! Have FUN!

I gotta kick some butt this week and get back into my walking routine. I hate this time of the year. There is so much going on with school winding down and yardwork and birthdays and holidays, etc. We went to see my FIL and MIL today. My FIL is now in a nursing home because he doesn't want to try anymore. He's ready to die. He wouldn't even talk to my DH (his son) and my MIL when they went to see him today. What a trip that was--long story. The good thing was we found a really nice campground to go to this summer. We usually take a longer trip right before school starts and we like to check them out before we commit to more than a weekend. I think this one will be great. Deb, you need to come to WI to get out of the heat. It was only about 65 here today, 70 tomorrow. You would love the camping here under the huge trees with the WI state bird (the mosquito) humming past your ears LOL!

Guess this got kind of long, but the boards are pretty quite on a holiday weekend anyway. Stay safe on the roads everyone!

Karen

Hello

I have to admit to lurking and not posting this week. It was a busy one- out of town at the beginning of the week to a nursing confernce - in Tampa- about a hour away. NIce to be away from work, and learn some good stuff. But it was bad when I wasn't feeling really motivated. I tried to eat OP and really didn't do too bad. I did sample some of the great desserts that were served to others, and that was enough for me.

My progress is really slow- to nonexistent. I have walked for the last three days now- YEah me !!!!

But I am ready to get back on the track and get progress going. I have no big projects ahead of me so I can really focus on my wieght loss again.

I have one question---those of you who eat ww torillas
what braind do you buy??? I found some at the store but they are honey wheat- 1 gram per serving--is that ok.
I am also about ready to order agave nectar online cause I just can't find it around here. ANyone got a website.

Well I hope all has a great weekend and enjoy the holiday.

Hello all...we're having an EXTREMELY rainy holiday weekend here in the Poconos. I don't mind. We really need the rain. Does kinda put a damper on the cookouts though!

I've been doing pretty good with eating. We went to Chili's yesterday for lunch (Southwestern Place). I order a cheeseburger on a ww bun. I'm sure the bun was not sgww, but I didn't have a lot of starchy carbs yesterday so I splurged. French fries came with the burger, but I requested to have a side of black beans instead! I was so glad I did that! I haven't had a french fry since I started SB and I don't want to give in to that temptation!! I'm going to a cook out today. Trying to mentally prepare myself for staying legal.

My husband bought a bag of sunsweet prunes for a Norwegian recipe he wants to try. I figured they would be fine since the ingredients list plums only. WRONG. I ate five of them and then looked in the sugar bust for life book and saw they have a high GI. I should have known...if raisins are a no no, prunes would be too. Oh well.

sef..my monster-in-law lives in milford (that would be sarcasm for mother in law). My husband lived in Digmans Ferry for about 3 or 4 years. He graduated from Delaware Valley. I like Milford. Still a small town. I live in Tannersville, near Camelback Ski Area. IT's about and hour from Milford (Thank goodness!). Small world!

Gotta go hop on that treadmill. Taped some Denise Austion show on LIfetime, but I don't know if it's for me. I might try it during the summer when I have more time.
School is so close to being over I can just FEEL summer!!
Whoopee!!

Talk later-

Hi Gals!!!

I'm still at bro's house. Everybody is at church and I'm still in my pj's. I'll go to third service cause I like to take my time getting ready in the am. My visit here is going well. It always does. We are taking it easy this weekend (still recuperating from the wedding extravagaza!). My eating is going well. I did have a banana this morning . . . so shoot me. But here the really good part. This family is ga-ga over ice cream. They have it every night practically. So I was smart enough to bring my sf chocolate syrup and instead of a bowl of ice cream, I had a glass of sf chocolate milk. That hit the spot and I felt really victorious over the ice cream that I could withstand the temptations two nights in a row.

STAR---I know there are no words that I can say to you to ease your pain and the sadness in your heart right now. I am so sorry that Bogart was in such ill health and that you had to say good-bye. Just know that my thoughts and prayers are with you. As I sit here and write this Maddie-girl is at my feet and I whisper a prayer of thanks that she is still healthy. She will get extra scratches and playtimes today in honor of Bogart. I know you have plenty of wonderful memories that fill your heart and mind right now. You are in my thoughts throughout this difficult time.

SEF---Welcome!!!! We are here to help and you will get so many wonderful ideas and inspirations from this group of fantastic people. I'm glad you are with us. Good luck. And don't beat yourself up about slip ups. Things take time to get adjusted to, but you will get the hang of it soon enough.

BOB---You cracked me up. I even missed the double meaning quote from DEB. And as for an answer to it . . . just none of your business!!!!! Ha!!! You trip sounds great. I hope Skeeter is bossing those labs around in short order. That's his job.

Speaking of dogs, here's a story from yesterday. Maddie and I went out to do a walk/run combo workout. First thing, here comes a collie running out from her yard (didn't look too threatening), then here comes a big yellow lab barking to beat the band (he did look a bit agressive and we cut out his part of the sidewalk), things were looking better and safer then all of a sudden what comes running at us full force but none other than a huge GREAT DANE!!!!!! Gulp!!! I just kept walking and talking my patented doggy baby talk. All they really wanted to do was sniff Maddie girl's rear . . . guess they are not used to Ohio butts over here. Anyways, it was a bit exciting and Maddie and I talked about chucking the whole workout and getting back to the safety of the house. But decided that sort of thinking was NOT going to get mommy into her size 16 jeans. So we kept going. Next lap . . . the collie is so submissive she rolls over on her back inthe middle of the road. I was laughing too hard at that one. Anyways, we did about 38 minutes of fast walking and three 1-minute runs. I felt great.

Gotta go get ready for church. You all have a wonderful rest of the weekend.
Take care.

Happy Memorial Day Weekend To All,

To all of you who are off tomorrow, enjoy it for the rest of us who have to work. Most of my students' parents are off, but all the kids come to school. So, we will have business as usual.

lamap: If you do a search on Agave nectar, you will come up with a few sites. After I post here I will search and let you know.

Welcome to all you newbies. this is a great board, and you will really get great support from these people. I know I sure have!!! And be forewarned...you are in for some real hearty laughs along the way as well.

I am really looking forward to getting my walking tape...I really do need to start exercising...

I have stopped counting my days on SB, but I am still taking this one meal at a time. I didn't do so well yesterday at my meeting. The person who was running the show said that before she started doing all this extra work for school she weighed 117. Now she weighs a lot more. It made me realize how I probably gained most of my weight that I lost on WW.

Yesterday, I had TWO not one, but TWO Kripsy Kremes. I know better for more than just SB that I personally should not have too much sugar, since I prone to the "yeast" problem. I was tired, had not had time for breakfast, and there they were...warm, and fresh, and calling my name. LOL

For lunch, they served shrimp pasta, that would have been okay if it had been WW, but I ate salad, and a reasonable helping, and I PASSED on the huge brownies for dessert that everyone was raving over.

I got back OP last night and I feel fine about myself today. There will be times when we are in situations like that, and I know how to prepare for the pitfalls, (like eating breakfast). And when we do...it's okay...as long as we revamp and get right back on...

Of course, I have all of you to thank for this...WW does have something with their group support. When you know that there are others who you can share with it helps...it's like giving stickers to kids...we need those "warm fuzzies" telling ourselves that we are good and can do this...we need affirmations that although we have to do this ourselves...we have support if we start to fall.

Five more days until the students are out of school. YIPPEE!!! Hopefully, I'll get my life back! And will be able to post to all of you.

lamap: I did a search, and couldn't find the site that I thought was so easy. So, I did a search on, "Whole Foods" and got a url for you:
http://www.wholefoodsmarket.com/company/locations.html
I thought if you went to the "Find a location" site you might be able to find a store near you, or could call to see if they would ship to you. I know you can purchase it at their stores because that's where I get mine. Hope this helps.

Good Sunday Morning Everyone:wave:

Just got in from my walk, really didn't feel like going out today, after stepping on the scale I wasn't too happy, but I got my rear out there and did the walk with 20 jogs in just under 54 minutes. Of course, I was happy I got out there afterwards-gave me 27 miles for the week:)

I guess I'm a bit ticked that the scale has gone up and not down this past week-here I am, walking with some jogging, getting in all these miles, doing it for 6 days a week and really watching what I'm eating. I can only say I'm not doing too well on water this weekend, but otherwise, doing fine-and look what the scale does-pity party over, I know things will change!

Trying to figure out what to do with the kids today-they're both home and Eli is at work, so going to see if I can find something to keep them from saying "I'm bored". Gosh, how I wish they were going to camp!!!!

KAREN, sorry to hear you haven't been feeling well. Seems there's a few on the board who's had some colds lately. Hope you feel 100% soon! I hope your next blood work comes back okay. Eli should find out next month how his chol. is doing since he started in that guinea pig study. We don't know what he's taking, could even be a placebo for all we know, but they check his blood once a month and next month we find out if his numbers have gone down. Last time it was 240 something-still ridiculously high. You should go to some of those garage sales-I sure would - trust me, you NEVER know what you're going to find, like gold and diamonds, which both my sister and I have found!!! Makes you wonder about some people! Would love to come visit WI, though in Florida we have the same "state bird" as you do-but we sure don't have the same cheese!!!!!!

IAMAP, I can relate about slow and non-existent progress. I've been stuck in the same area for 2 months now, it's gets to me at times, but I know with pateince it always pays off to stay OP. The tortilla's I buy are from Cedar Lane, in the frozen/fridge area of the HFS. I'm pretty sure Publix carries some type of WW tortilla, but not fat free, will try and look next time I'm there and see, as I don't buy them there. As for the agave nectar-there are 2 sites listed on the FOOD INFO. BOARD-but I'd try to see if you can find it somewhere in Tampa next tim you go there-by the time you pay for shipping, it doesn't really pay.

OVERCOME, well, at least with eating those prunes you won't have any dookie problems! So there's something good that "comes out" of eating them! LOL!

CHERI, glad to see you checking in!!!:)

QUILTER, LOL! I was laughing as I read your post about talking Maddie for a walk. Hey, at least they didn't try to sniff your butt!! There's not a dog around here that would try to do that while I was exercising, the sweaty smell even keeps the mosquitos away!!! Way to go, I can't run a full minute-so kudos to you!!!! When are you leaving to go back home? Tell Paul hi!

ICESKATE, would it be possible to keep some SB LEGAL foods at work so when things like meetings arise, you'll be less tempted to partake? When you find yourself not being able to eat breakfast, if you have some cereal with powdered milk in a container, all you need to do is add some water and viola, you have breakfast - just an idea:) BUT, when things happen and you fall temporarily off the wagon, just climb right back on like you have-it's better than making it a full free-for-all. As always, just like you tell the students, try your best:)

Okay, I'm outta here. I'll check in with you all sometime later. Please remember, tomorrow starts the new board and it's MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY so if you have any words of wisdom or inspiration, please, try to post them tomorrow.

Hope you all enjoy your Memorial Day!

Good Morning SB Goddesses!

I feel like I haven't posted for a week, and it's only been a day!

DH and I had a nice date on Friday night. Went to and IMAX theater (love 3D) and out to dinner. Wanted steak with Bernaise sauce topped with crab and asparagus spears, but ended up ordering a salad with crab cakes. Was evil and had a Raspberry Margarita and desert:devil:. Ever since the camping trip and sticking a few toasted marshmellows in my mouth, I haven't been OP 100%. Up 5 pounds on the scale which tells me cheating doesn't cut it.:nono:

I need to break out my Atlas to appreciate the pain you suffered through of having a little detour! I love taking the back roads, as long as I don't have to go pee and see a sign that say "Next gas station 25 miles". If I was drinking that starbucks "Gutamalen"sp? blend coffee instead of the generic House blend, I might have caught on the Debs blunder! Have Skeeter been giggling get his tummy tickled by the tall grass? Has he set those labs straight who's boss yet? The veggies sound great. I love mixed steamed veggies, especially with melted Cheddar cheese on top. Us Danish women love our cheese!

Sef
WELCOME ABOARD!!!! You will find this group very supportive, If the can tolerate my non-sense, you'll be in like flint. I'm a newbie too. I've been on plan since 4/17/01.

Karen3000
Have you heard of Tracey Porter??? She's a designer and lives in Princeton WI. She has a store there too! I have a couple of her books and just love her stuff!

Lamap
I usually buy WW Tortillas from Trader Joes but I understand that not everybody is fortunate enough to have one of those stores around. I'd be happy to send you some if you want. they are stoned ground and DEEE-lish!

Deb
Made your bluebery muffin recipe...their hot out of the over and cooling off!!! I have a question....Lara gave me a print out of an e.mail from SB when I very first started, and it doesn't have the persons name on it, but it was a post from the board. Said the person was 5'1 1/2, from Miami, used to own a pizzaria (sp?) and used to weigh 284. WAS THAT YOU???????? If it was I will have to worship you more than I already do? I thought you started at 194, but after reading the story, I thought, this sounds like Deb....and the shrimp height is right, and it's her town........

SparkleScamp
You haven't posted!!!!! and that date was over 24 hours ago?????? People might start talking. Where are you????

IceSkateFan
Krispy Kremes?!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!? OH MY GAWD!!!! Don't EVEN get me started on those!!!! Those are the type of things you can NEVER eat just one, especially when they are still Hot!!! TROUBLE, TROUBLE, TROUBLE!!!!! Dangerous with a capital "D"

Quilter
What are the other three body types? Of course I will need you to translate them into fruit terms so I can comprehend, ie. Nurturer=Pear. Is there one called "The Blob"?

Well, I am going to eat my WW Blueberry Muffin, kill the last of the coffee and get to some artwork!

I've been enjoying just surfing today. Decided to just take some time for me to do what I like doing...
I wanted to check the board before I started my chores before school tomorrow (If I don't do a load of laundry today, I will not have anything to wear tomorrow LOL) These 6 day weeks are tough.

Thanks for the tip, Deb! As always you have such great ideas. I am going to go to the store today and pick up some powered milk. What a great idea!!!

Also, I just registered on Dietwatch. What a great site. I can keep track of what I eat just like on WW and I don't have to carry it around with me.!!! You are just a wealth of infomation.!!!

Off to work, I go...
This a burger on WW, of course. :)

NANCE, glad to hear you and Dan had a nice evening out on the town! You need more time like this!!! Hmmm, hope those blueberry muffins came out well, I remember one batch I made I didn't care for, hope those weren't them! Yes, that's me-I was once 284lbs-back 17 years ago-I have one picture of myself like that-no one can ever believe it's me in the picture-when I think back on being that weight, it's just mind boggeling! To think I could take 2 of me now and still not be that much in weight!

ICESKATE, glad you liked that tip-it's great to use when you go on a trip as well. Another good one, keep some SB legal crackers, like Finn Crisps in a Tupperware container and some of the Laughing Cow LF cheese wedges that don't need refrigeration, along with a plastic fork for desperate times. If you have a fridge that you can keep some ER foods in, that could make all the difference. Really, there's lots you can do to remedy the situations when they arise:)

Okay, I'm outta here again

Later!

SEF welcome! There are no RULES here except to be nice. :) We don’t tromp on each other’s hearts here, and we don’t complain. Life is tough enough without having that on our board. So we are glad you’re here and I enjoyed reading your post very much. No limit as to how much you want to “say.” Chris (**** on Wheels) is a great “talker” and her interest in journalism shows as what she says is very interesting.

BIG ORANGE Hope you are surviving in Red and Black territory. Ugh! Or is that Uga!! Watch out for the bulldogs. Actually, UGA fans are very similar to
Gators and it is a trip! every year to go to the UF-UGA game in Jacksonville. Hope you have a great vacation and come home renewed and ready to get back on the wagon. No one is unworthy for this board!

Iceskatefan That was a great image of the flag. Just reminds me that a sacrifice was made so that I could be free. I know how it is with Krispy Kremes. Where do you live? In the south? Actually, I don’t LOVE KK’s like so many people, but every once in a while a hot, aroma laden, soft KK is really good. I think I have about one a year. Just hang in there, girl, and keep on pluggin’.

Our party last night turned out great. I made the mistake, though, of letting the two couple that come bring something. I told them that they could bring an appetizer if they wanted, so they brought some great munchies that were not the best for me to eat. One brought tempura battered artichoke pieces, and the other crackers and hummus. The mixed grill was great, and my favorite was the salad. I also loved the sangria I fixed.

We spent the early part of the afternoon visiting people just recovering from appendicitis. Two men in our church suffered ruptured appendices this week, and one even delayed going to the hospital so he ended up with peritonitis. Really bad. He’s home now, but had a rough time of it.

Have a great day tomorrow, and remember the fallen veterans.

Nancemeister - I was in Princeton several weeks ago for their great Saturday flea market in the park. We needed some more shepherd's hooks for the yard and someone at the flea market sells really sturdy ones that don't droop when you put the plant on. We drove by her store, but I've never been in it. Since she opened it, there's been a rebirth in that very small town and there are some upscale restaurants there now and other neat stores. One of these weekends I'd like to get up there and just browse around. We hope to go camping in the area sometime this summer so I'll try to go then. It's about 1.5 hours from Madison. I had never really heard about Tracey Porter until she was on Oprah a few years back and was surprised to hear she lived there.

Got to get ready to go out for dinner with some friends. Going to Famous Dave's BBQ--some of you might be familiar as it is a chain. They've been open in town about 2 years now, but we've never gone. I'll be good, though!

Hello

Sounds like everyone is having a good holiday weekend.
I worked today. I am on call and had patients to do this morning and then while I was there I figured I would do some maintaince on the computer system while no one else was there. Things got more involved than I expected, and I didn't get done the projects until 5:30 tonight. It was a long day, but I feel good cause I got alot accomplished.

Thanks to those who answered my question about agave nectar. As far as the torillas go, I get the feeling that the honey wheat are a no no????

Hope all have a great day tomorrow.

Eat healthy

Evening All:wave:

Thought I'd get in a quick post before hitting the hay tonight:dz:

Finally opened a new chocolate bar I had in my stash since last year (June), the Lindt 70%. One square (a 1/4 ounce) took me over a half hour to eat-sure made that sucker last!!!!

NANCE, I had the picture somewhere on a disk, but can't find it. I don't know anyone with a scanner that I can get to anytime soon, so be patient with me. Glad to hear you are back down a few pounds today! How did those muffins come out??

GATOR, must correct you, we do come on here and complain!!!! We're women, it's just our nature!

KAREN, hope you enjoyed your dinner!:)

Please remember, TOMORROW STARTS THE NEW WEEKLY BOARD!!!
