I was checking out Wal-Mart's clearance section online a while ago and saw something which made me laugh aloud. Since the web's so ephemeral, I did a screen print and blogged about it. Here's the screen print (http://www.gardenwife.com/mt/archives/waif-like.jpg).

Yes, I'm sure all my waif-like pals are clamoring to wear a size 22/24! If I wore a size 4, I know I would be jealous!

I clicked on the link but I can't make out what it says. :?: What's it about?

Oh, shoot, I tried to make the screen print large enough so it could be read. :P I posted another shot at it - see if this one (http://gardenwife.com/mt/archives/waif-like2.jpg) works better for you.

Wal-Mart's link is here (http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.gsp?product_id=3212613&cat=178928&type=46&dept=45183&path=0%3A45183%3A173720%3A178928), but who knows how long the URL will be good.

Their ad copy is what made me laugh...

"Pucker up! This high-fashion blouse has a flattering fit you won't believe. Its puckered, stylishly striped, stretchy cotton is cut in a feminine shape. And the whole shebang is accented with sleek hardware closure down the front. Your waif-like pals will wish they had oneóbut it doesn't come in their size."

LOL. The only thing my waiflike friends covet is my chest.

I thought y'all would appreciate that. Howie laughed when he read it and said I needed to post it here. Thanks for the compliment. I've always liked putting together visual aides for presentations and love using screen prints. I try to put funny web things on my site since I know I enjoy seeing them at other peoples' sites.

That's too funny!

That's really funny.

Thank you for the laugh. I really needed it today.

Well, what are (non)waif-like pals for?

03-07-2005, 09:25 PM
Oh good lord  Now who in their right mind would think that would be an okay thing to write in a product description? My Marketing education/experience would have made a big flashing red light go off in my head long before that made it to print :p

03-07-2005, 10:25 PM
Well, it definitely appealed to their target audience........

03-07-2005, 11:11 PM
ha! that is just too much.

03-07-2005, 11:54 PM
Every time I look at it, I laugh! I can't believe that got on there, either. I don't want to say anything to them because they'll probably take it down. Y'all are witnesses!

03-11-2005, 04:17 PM
LMAO!!! I love it!

03-11-2005, 05:19 PM
What does waif-like stand for?

03-11-2005, 06:49 PM
Literally, "waif" it means a homeless person, especially a child (picture a skinny, undernourished street urchin)

Practically, popularly, think Twiggy (http://www.linda-project.com/world/images/twiggy.jpg) .

By the way, it's out of stock in the larger sizes :D

I was just drooling over Fashion Bug's (http://fashionbug.com) website last night, Pookie. They have some really neat stuff on there! I didn't find anything as funny as Wal-Mart's, but I did see lots of nice clothes.
