Hello everyone. Wow, I've been surfing this website for weeks now and just noticed this PCOS group. Amazing.
I was diagnosed with PCOS last September. Quite quickly surpisingly compared to some of the other posts I have read. I have gained 40 pounds since going off birth control pills and trying to get pregnant. Right now I'm on the Metformin and I tried the Clomid but it didn't work for me, so I have now been sent to a specialist who I have my first appt. with on the 24th.
Well anyway my only side effects are the acne and weight gain. I'm not insulin resistant and I noticed a lot of people are. Does being insulin resistant make it harder to lose weight? I really haven't tried dieting yet, well I've been on the South Beach for a week now, but before that. Just was wondering if there was anyone who wasn't insulin resistant who has lost weight, or if just having PCOS makes it harder?
Thanks
Sherry

Hi Sherry, welcome to 3FC! Being insulin resistant normally makes it harder. I say normally, because there is just no black and white with PCOS, it seems! Normally more exercise and less sugar helps the IR person with weight loss. I am only slightly insulin resistant now. Weight loss is still slow, but seems to be picking back up with regular exercise. :)
