Question I need some help on a workout program :)

My friend and I go workout Mon, Tues, Wed, and Thurs. We do 15 min cardio to warm up, then we do Abs every night, upper body 2 of the 4 nights and lower body the other two, and then 30 minutes of cardio after weights. The weight workouts, we do two sets of 12 for each excersize. adding weight gradually. on abs, we started out with a 15 minute workout from Tami Lee Webb's "Iwant that Body" Dvd. Great ab workout might I add Can definitely feel that I worked out...lol TO start with it was one set of 12 and 1 set of 6 but we have upped it to two sets of 15. Do you guys think this is the right way to go to tone and lose weight? I know just cardio would probably get the weight off faster but then I would be skinny and flabby so doing it the slow way...lol ANy helpful hints or tips will be appreciated. Thanks

Summer

What you are doing sounds basically OK. Ideally you'd want to do a little more cardio -- 20 to 30 minutes at least -- when you are trying to lose weight. Two sets of 15 is about as high as you want to go, then add more weight and drop down to 2 sets of 10 or 12. Doing higher reps will do nothing but build endurance.

Sounds pretty good to me...some people say you shouldn't train your abs every day since they need rest too so I only do them MWF. For upper and lower workouts, about how many different exercises do you do? I generally do 2 sets of 15 with weights heavy enough to feel them the next day. And I do 10 exercises lower body (butt legs thighs), 10 upper (biceps triceps shoulder chest and back) and 10 abs although sometimes I will change it up. Your cardio sounds good too with the warm-up and then after the weights. I would recommend doing a few different kinds, like elliptical one day, treadmill the next, etc. Good luck with your goals!

Thank you both for the advice on weights and reps That is where I need help. Cardio I switch up everytime, treadmill, eliptical, bike, etc. Abs I think it is 8 different excersizes. 2 sets of fifteen of each. At my gym they said abs were okay to do every day. Will it make the excersizes not work as well to do them everyday? Upper and lower body I probably do about 8 on each , 2 sets of 12. Thanks
