This is going to be a quick week I can tell. What with Monday being a holiday it is just zipping by. We had several tornados touch down on Monday - very rare and wild for our area. (basements? we don't have basements!) Then they issued a thunderstorm warning and the lite show and rumblings were very entertaining. The JV coach actually had the boys out there practicing in it! I didn't take Cody since I assumed that it would be cancelled so he got razzed a bit yesterday.
I gotta go to a gyno appt. this morning. I haven't been in a couple years (bad girl). I entertaining the idea of BC pills. I will make an appt. for a boob squish while I'm there too.
Hope everyone has a great day!

Geez, I didn't get in here until Hump Day this week - better than the weekend, I suppose. I did a MOD job and split the thread - gotta earn my big salary somehow!
Hey, what's with this damned winter stuff? I am so sick of shovelling off steps and porches and decks and loading up the woodstove. Anybody got a spare bedroom for me and the Doggage? I'll dig you a basement, Kel. And ..um....why would you want to go on birth control pills ------ROFLOLPIMP! Planning ahead?
L144S, did you get a really big dump of snow as they did in Maine? I keep saying that shovelling is good exercise but this is too damned much! is your little guy all recovered from his "stones" stint?
Dottie, we should have held a house re-warming for you when you became "Home Alone". I bet it feels strange - good strange. Is your MIL adjusting well?
Today was supposed to be a fun day for me with my pal Margo of the Hyper Pypers coming for lunch. She was to come last week but cancelled because of a frassing blizzard. She had to cancel today because her DH and her two kids are all sick! :( I cooked the lunch chicken anyhow and will put it into the freezer for next time.
A bit of a bummer at the physio this morning. Apparently my knee is NOT going to get better! :( I forget the technical term - osteo-something - but fragments of bone are floating around between the joints. Exercise will strengthen the knee but I will need to keep on gulping Advil and Tylenol. If it gets worse, I can have an operation - oh joy! She also suggested I lose some weight to help ease the strain. Duh! really? What a concept! I'd never noticed that I needed to lose weight. This physio chick weighs about 105!
About the mice.....all is quiet and three more of them are dead! I left the car out of the barn to see if the little jerks were actually sleeping there. No mouse in any of the traps. The next night I put it in the barn and caught more! They are obviously living in the barn but eating at my place! So I had a sudden DUH moment and realized the peanut butter in the traps was just asking for them to get into the car. No more traps and no more food left in the car overnight. Now I need a warm day so I can vacuum up their calling cards! I'm not sure if they ever learned to turn on the heated seats!
Gotta jet and get some Fair stuff ready to deliver tomorrow. We have a meeting tomorrow night and I want to honestly say it's been done! :)
Happy Hump Day!

I've been around, but not on the computer...had a nice 3 day weekend and got some cooking and reading and puttering done! Prepped for the taxes, and had them done yesterday, picked up today. No good news, but not bad either. Where are the big tax benefits of home ownership? I thought I'd get thousands every spring for home improvement- but the accountant says it was a wash cause we made a little more. And DH gets some of his pay as a private contractor and the taxes are paid at the end of the year. Boo hoo!
I am leaving for 6 days in Florida tomorrow! Come on Ruth, I have a suite kind of hotel room, plenty of room! I have been SO looking forward to this vacation- and I heard that more snow is expected here tomorrow night, so I'll be EXTRA glad, while i sip a gin and tonic by the pool!
Kel- good going, planning ahead like that! :cp: Or is it not "ahead" you are planning for? Teehee, hope things are going sweetly and that you enjoy it all!
Hi, L...I join you in missing the lurkers, it was getting lonely. I will be back from FL on Mar 4- keep up the activity, OK? And hope you don't get much of the snow- but I think you will!
stay well all, see you next week!

Are you wishing more snow on me you beach going babe? I am so cold I have 2 sweaters on!
We are going on vacation in a few weeks, but I am ready today!
More auction work tonight, they (auction chairs) named my item in the auction(deserts) Treats or your next "Big Night" all I can think of is a basket of condoms for prom night, have to fix that before it hits the catalog!
off to save the auction world!

PS have fun in FLA, good to see you Ruth and laughed about the droppings and the BC pills too!

LOL! You guys are cracking me up! The lady Doc was cracking me up today too - she kept saying "Well, at 45(!), going on birth control has a different set of problems." "At 45(!) you may .... blah, blah, blah" I finally convinced her that yes, I am 45 but am not in menopause or DEAD YET and I really didn't care to become PG at this stage of the game. (she was older than me and I think she was just having a hard time getting her mind around what dating is like when you are 45)
And no, the 'event' hasn't happened yet but he is going to take me away for overnight in a couple weeks and like he said of me today, I'm a good little Girl Scout and always prepared. lol
Oh, L, I'm so sorry that you have to wear 2 sweaters! That sounds miserable - I just hate to be cold! That was good that you caught that item name before it hit the catalog - lol
Ruthie - It's so nice that you take such good care of your mice up there. lol Sorry that you got bad news on the knee. Those floaters will need to come out, I afraid. That problem just doesn't solve itself.
Dottie! Florida for 6 days???? OMG! That sounds just DEVINE! Have a great time and pamper yourself to the hilt!
Ok - I gotta go put the finishing touches on the tax prep for tomorrow's appt. Ick! Have a good evening all.

I am sorry for not checking in. The guy at my "other" school made such a mess of the website I spent all weekend fixing it.
My brother and his wife are having the baby induced tonght, she is not growing well and needs to be deliverd. Pins and needled tomorrow for sure.
I am exausted and I know rthe you know what is going to hit the fan when he goes in to look what I have done.

I agree that we are not very active lately and attendance has fallen waaay off BUT I don't want to abandon the ship or anything. I kinda like what we did last time: We had a daily chat thread ongoing and when it got to be like 4 pages we started a new one. Some weeks we have more posts than others - this way we can remain flexable.
L- Good luck to your bro and SIL.
I better get back to work. A bit hard to concentrate today, John is going thru some rather major family drama and I'm worried he's going to cut me loose as a way of shielding me from it. Rats!

L144S, has the baby arrived? Funny but I dreamed of being pregnant last night. :yikes:
Kel, notice I changed the name of this thread. When it gets long we'll close it and start a new one. I hope things straighten out with J's drama and things smooth out for you.
Think of darling Dottie in Florida while we get ready for a big snowstorm. There - that's long enough!
Today was Gail Day so my house is all spiffy. Harry and I went for foot care this afternoon so even our feet are spiffy! We also went out for lunch and he had a massive plate of liver, onions and fries while I are my veggie burger and salad. I'll be able to get away with a light supper tonight - maybe an omelet? His appetite is very varied these days but he sure can pack it away if we go out.
I'm still whining about my knee and have decided to get a referral to an orthopaedic surgeon to get my "floaters" suctioned out. It could help and I certainly am sick of the pain. Gardening season approaches although I doubt it will get done before then - unless I get my pal Dr Bob to pull some strings!
Let's hope March does come in like a lion because I sure could use some "lamb" soon!

Good morning. The snow has finally stopped. I put my pussywillow wreath on teh side door the other day. I think that's what caused this big dum. Winter got pissed off that I was rushing her.
Some of the "missing" low carbers are in the WLS forum as they've had their surgery. I may go and ask them to peck in with us once in a while. There are also some folks who have drifted into LCFS. Too bad we didn't combine the threads when they first started. I did suggest it but they politely declined. Nice group of women too.
Gotta jet as my bubble bath is about to overflow. Not much else planned for today but stuff happens!

Hi L, Ruth.
L - wow, that was a tiny baby. Hope everyone is well.
I go over to WLS and check up on some of our gals often but I haven't seen Peachie over there in a while. (of course, just cuz I said that and haven't checked all week she is probably wildly posting over there now)
We barely got the ball game finished yesterday when it started raining buckets. Rained all night and looks threatening today. I know we need the water but I'm really looking forward to dry/warm days.
Ok - better jet and finish getting ready for work. Have a good day all.

I got back from Florida last night, yuk-snow on the ground! L, DH said we got about 8 inches, but it seems to have melted off a bit.
Hi to everyone- I actually was able to get online at the hotel, but didn't have my log-in password, so I couldn''t post. I am happy at the solution you found to the "daily" and agree that a "monthly" would be too depressing! And it can be more active here some weeks than others.
I will try to be here daily- to work on the 1.5 lbs I gained! I think it is all Cheetos and wine, and should dissapear on it's own...but I want to give it a BIG PUSH! So I will actually do a bit of dieting this week and see if I can't loose 2 lbs. Anybody else have a weight loss goal?
Florida was OK, but not great weather until(of course) the last day- went to the beach for an hour and to the Riverwalk for lunch, but then it was time to leave. I have a problem with the tenant in the house there, and that's why I went.
well, I have to hit the showers, I'll certainly promise to keep up my part and post regularly...
Here's a chick-check from the WLS forum. We're plenty quiet over there too, unfortunately.
Kel - Are you close to San Francisco? If so, what's the weather generally like in early April? I'm heading there for a couple of days and have a feeling it will be cold ( I want you to tell me otherwise of course)! My daughter's softball games start that same week in April and I have a feeling there will be a couple of snow games. I don't know if rain or snow is worse - both suck!
Dottie - Did you get any baseball games in while you were in FLA? My wonderful (albeit rated last in the whole league going into this season) played their first pre-season game yesterday and actually won. Those will have to be savored this year as they're probably few and far between.
Hi Ruth - I thought of you the other day while I was watching the Westminster show on TV. The Porties are just too cute!
That's all folks,
Chickadee

03-03-2005, 11:11 PM
hi chickadee- well, I tried to get some baseball in, but got rained out! I met my friend and her family up in Pt. St. Lucie where the Met's have spring training. both the practice session and game were cancelled, so we just hung out and watched videos and ate pizza! disappointing, heh?
nice to see ya around-
we're not too strictly low carb and just trying to eat healthy- so stick around and join in if you're up to some support and chatter!
SF in April, hmmm, it might be kinda foggy or raining but SF is actually more mild than Sacramento (we are about 1 hour 45 min. up and over from SF) and the lows are in the high 40s/low 50s with the highs being 50s/60s. It not really too bad. I had the impression that SF was cold/foggy/yucky most of the time but with Melis there now I keep track of the weather more and it really isn't too bad. Have fun - SF is a great city - Melissa just LOVES it there! (You will see her college -Academy of Art- signs ALL over the city as they are the largest land owner in SF.)
Did you get in some relaxing time anyway, Dottie, even if the weather was not stellar? Glad to have ya back.
*waves* Hi, Ruth! Hi, L! And any lurkers!
So I'm starting to get really nervous and kinda panicy at this point. This is the DUM-DUM-DUM-DUM going away weekend coming up. I excited/giggley/scared/etc. But I know it will be just fine. I'm a big girl and I don't have to do anything I don't want to - and there has been no pressure put on me by John so it's all good. (....but I'm still nervous)

Dottie, too bad about the Fl weather. My friend Lorraine is just back this week and said the same.
Kel, of course you are a big girl and of course you are scared/excited/whatever. I bet you will have a great and relaxing time.
L144S, are you dug out yet? Is the pacifier a movie or a therapist? Can you tell how out of it I am?
I'm off to see Jack, my PCP, this morning as I am sick to death of hurting and complaining because of this knee. Something has to be done so I am going to ask for a referral to an orthopaedic surgeon. I refuse to go around being *****y all the time because I hurt. I rattle from all the Advil and Tylenol I take and am starting to worry about what it may be doing to my stomach. Jack is a real sweetie so I expect something to come out of our appointment.
I'm off to the tubby! have a good day.

good morning!
It's sunday morning and I'm up early- I guess just a lot of little things rattling around in my brain that kept me from sleeping later. But nothing big, just chores, cooking, getting the laundry finished for next week. I will head over to Sears to order a new refrigerator- that will be fun. The one that was in this house when we bought it is 19 years old and still running, but the compressor runs constantly and the seals are shot. I wanted a new energy-efficent one and I'll put the old one in the garage for party use.
Other than that, everything is OK. We got our taxes done before I went away, so that's out of the way. Just waiting for the weather to improve so I can think about some gardening! Well, I can THINK about it...and maybe that's as much fun as DOING something- and easier on the back and knees!
How are your knees, Ruth...what did dr say?
Kel, you're off enjoying your weekend away- hope it's great- we're thinking of you-
L, I never liked Vin Diesel, but he is very cute with a baby in his arms! Is that some sort of genetic thing to feel attracted to men with caregiver skills? I thought we were supposed to want them out hunting for meat. Well maybe it's the combination of testosterone and protectiveness...whatever, he looks adorable in the previews!
Happy Sunday Dottie and any others to come.
Off to NH thisafternoon for a little gathering. Bringing the kids and the husband. Bought the plant to bring with me and waiting on the kids to return form shool.
I have to find a carpet cleaner. my bed room has gotten so bad with the geriatric pooches. it stinks and ude to be beautiful!
Dottie, I have to get on theat taxes thing. DH keeps all of the paper work but the accountant harasses ME!
it is on the list for tonight.
Off to do a little make-up so i don't scare anyone today, have a cup of coffee with DH before the kids get back and then off for the day.....

BooHoo! We have a blizzard today! Yesterday I shovelled off the back deck thinking I might have coffee out there (in my coat) this morning. i think I'll be doing it again very soon!
Jack gave me a prescription for Celebrex which has worked wonderfully well! I was even able to kneel down in Church this morning! I have a referral to an orthopaedic surgeon but no date as yet. At any rate, having the Celebrex has made a huge difference. I didn't realize how much constant pain could wear you down and make you *****y!
We are going to cozy in around the woodstove today, read the papers, pet dogs and dream of spring. I do need to bring in some more wood but am hoping the storm will abate a bit so I can do that. I really need a 15 year old kid for about a half hour every day - that'd be long enough to get the chores done!
The lads who tap the trees in my sugar bush were hoping to start today but the weather does not look favourable for at least another week. They are just itching to get making the syrup crop as they use the $$$ for seed money. It'll come eventually.
Have a good weekend, chickies.

Good evening,
Glad to hear you are feeling better Ruth, it is amazing when you do feel better when you relize how bad you were feeling before especially when it has been a long hall.
Life is good, auction ducjks seem to be in a row and looking good.
Older boy is off for a 3 day field trip with school on Wed and I think he is excited!
little man is going to bed earlier and seems to be less "fragile" about life.
My new niece is doing well and home, although they have to wake her every 3 hours to feed her. I really don't miss those days!
I am waiting for spring, and can't wait to go on vacation on the 19th.

Hi Sue, hang in there. Good to hear that you are taking some 'you' time by going to the gym.
Hope you are feeling better and it isn't blizzarding there again, Ruth.
Hi to Dottie and L.
Well, the 'overnight' didn't 'over'. His family drama that he has been dealing with the last couple weeks has him stressed out and he just didn't feel it was fair to me (or us) to take things to the next level when he is in minor freakout mode due to stress. He was very sweet about it all and he did take me out for a very nice dinner and evening and pleaded with me to be patient with him, that he knows how special I am, really wants me to hang in there with him. He said all the right things so sincerely that even tho I was disappointed I couldn't be pissed about it all.
I gotta fold some laundry this morning so I better take off - have a great day, everyone.

hey all-
I was on jury duty today and got chosen for a jury for next week. Drat! I sort of liked sitting around with a book for the whole day though! It was dull but nice not to have to go to work. especially since the roads here were very icy from a storm last night. Nothing else going on, dull week.
Hi Sue- nice to have you dropping in- it's never quiet in your life, I know- but it's nice to see you popping in from time to ttime- how're the kids?
L- vacation the 19th? I'm ready to leave again, ok? LETS GO, this winter has been endless-
Kel- he sounds very special and considerate of you. We like that in a man! Maybe he's right to get his issues settled a bit...hope things are going good between you. Are you having fun still?
Ruth- keep warm! how's the knee doing. Glad the celebrex is helping.I'ts time for winter to be done already! Want to go on vacation with L and me? I guess her kids and DH will be there, but we'd really have fun, wouldn't we?
Not much going on...it's a quiet month for us...DM on vacation, DS is going in 2 weeks, no big plans. Just waiting for spring to come. It's freezing windy and icy here, so it's hard to imagine!
Dieting OK today and yesterday...made a nice turkey veg soup that I've had for a few meals and snacks. It hold me pretty well and helps avoid the cookies etc. I guess that's it, nothing else happening! Maybe I'll have a cup of tea and clean up the kitchen early, and go to bed right after American Idol tonight. A nice long sleep-yum.
have a good night-

Quick pop in and a confession. We were completely iced in eysterday and I was going stir crazy! We did get to the Library late this morning but then went to lunch at the Long Horn. I sinned – major! Ron the Chef wanted me to try his latest creation – a chicken pot pie in puff pastry! I had it and it was absolutely delicious! Oy! I had salad instead of fries but still consider it a major deviation.
And how did I handle the guilt? I had a two hour nap and skipped treadmill. I think I am very immature!
So a very, very light supper tonight – maybe tomato soup?
Boy oh boy it was good!
Just had to post to confess. I’ll not even look at the scale in the morning!
