Good morning! It's still dark outside so I can't tell if it's still snowing but I did hear the plough go by! :( It sure is winter out there.

I need to get an early start this morning because it's garbage pickup and I have to put together a huge bag of antique meat from the freezer. (It'll kill The Girls to see me throw out MEAT!:yikes: ) I'm off to physio for 9:30, will drop in at the Clinic with Hersh to see the clients who miss her and get the mail and paper. I hope to be back here by 11 because Margo is coming for lunch and should be here by then. I'm looking forward to visiting with her without the chaos of the rest of the crew!

So that's the plan. What's happening at your place?

Morning Ruth;
Sounds like you have a busy morning. Careful in that snow. Enjoy your lunch.
Me; just have to make some phone calls, didn't make the date with gym, so going to at least go and get on the treadmill today. First day yesterday was good OP. Doing the Dave Ramsey as a couple of people on here suggested. Going to finanical planner tomorrow, and waiting for book to arrive to learn what to do. Aren't sure what the first step is or how to go about beginning. Just gathering all the balances together.
Well, off to get ready for GD's. Have to get breakfast ready. Will cruise by later.

Good Morning everyone!

Hope everyone slept well last night. I know I did, out like a light! And I did wake up to the snow plow as well, ugh. But at least the sun is poking his head out, melting everything.
I hope everyone has a good day. Tonight is the full moon...never know what your day or evening will bring!

Hey! It's sunny but frassing freezing out there. I did the garbage move and came in to another hot coffee. Lucy came in and sat in front of me with a paw in the air asking me to hold it to warm it up. When my Girls get cold, it's cold!

Have a super day, Chickies.

Good Morning everyone. It snowed all day yesterday and I saw a car in the ditch lying on its roof. Today the sun is trying to shine through the haze so some of it is melting. I am SO ready for Spring!!

DH is doing Atkins right now so last night he made a pot of gulasch soup and put it in the slow cooker so he could take it to work with him this morning. The house smells tasty and the dog has permanently camped out in the kitchen, hoping, wishing, begging. I tasted some and its good, but too fatty so I will be sticking with my homemade chicken soup and Brussels sprouts for today.

Today will be housework, pilates and later on TV my weekly show, You Are What You Eat. Have a good on-plan day.

Just popping back in before I jet. I can't believe Bush did that but I'm sure it's true. How awfully undignified!

Most of us are under snow so we are counting on The Southern Chicks to convince us that SPRING is really coming! :encore:

Hey All,

Popping in for a quick check in.

Ruth ~ I feel obligated to tell you that spring really IS coming. My flower bed in the backyard has tulips, crocus, lillies, daffodils and hyacinth in it. Also Aster and one really BIG thingie in the middle that I can't remember the name of right this minute  . Anyway, EVERYTHING is poking through my pine straw. I really hope it doesn't get cold again. I know they'll probably be alright if I cover them, but I just wish it would get warm and STAY that way. We are 45 degrees one day and 70 the next here in N.C. lately. I guess that's why everyone is sick around here. :headache:

Kellie ~ Don't you love it when the MEN lose something ;) Have fun with MIL today

Chipper ~ Good Luck

Broad ~ Have a great day

Luna ~ Full moon huh? I think I'll stay in tonite

THIS SOUTHERN CHICK HOPES IT STAYS SUNNY AND WARM ON YOUR FACES TODAY.

HAVE A GREAT DAY :grouphug: :goodvibes :dancer: :flow2: :flow1:  :cb:

I deleted the link from my original post because the writer of the piece is a satirist so I wasn't sure if it was true or not, but as you said he probably really did do it. I'll see if they write about it in the European news.

For anyone interested anyway, here is the link:

Yes Ruth it's getting spring time from this southern chick. My bulbs are popping up and some are flowering already. It was 80* yesterday, today 75* once the fog lifts. But, then back to the mid 50's. The birds are just a talking away. Really need to get the mower in for it's spring check up and ready to go. Hope this weekend is nice to get some yard work done.

Good Morning Ladies!

Quick check in for me then i'm off to back to bed. I did NOT sleep well last night. Have a TON of housework to do today! UGH! Anyway, will weigh-in here in a few minutes. If all is good, i'll come back and post it..if not, then i won't. LOL

I read that Bush article, I don't think it's true. I did get this off that site though... Andy Borowitz is the author of The Borowitz Report, and the winner of the National Press Club's humor award. I think it's just a humor article. JMO though.

Have a great OP Day!! Oh, btw, those of you with snow this morning...CAN KEEP IT!! :)

I would say it is definitely edging toward Spring. The daffodils are up. Two days ago it was in the 80's but we had thunderstorms all last night. However a cold front is coming through so we will be down to the 40's, I think by tomorrow for our highs. It makes it fun trying to figure out whether to put my son in a coat or a t shirt!

The banquet last night was a lot of fun. The hamburgers were lean so I had one with my WW bun. They provided lots of tomatoes, dill pickles and lettuce and I had already put some ketchup (with Splenda) on my bun. I brought devilled eggs and red pepper strips. I ended up having to share my SF banana cream pudding with Brian since he loves it so. I was satisfied and was able to avoid the potato chips, Cheetos, and tortilla chips as well as the cake and ice cream.

Hi everyone,
I'm still around and still on plan, but I don't seem to be losing like I think I should in phase 1. Can someone answer a few questions for me? How many soy nuts are we allowed in a day and do they count as your bean serving. Also, what do you all normally eat in a day. I may be eating too much food. I eat hard boiled eggs, cottage cheese, cheese, lunch meat, salad, veggies, beef, chicken, fish, jello, pistachios. Of course, I don't eat all of this in a day but this is my food items. So, if someone can tell me what they have for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks, I sure would appreciate it. I lost the 4 pounds in like two days and my weight has been going up and down a few pounds ever since. Thanks.... :dizzy:

Wow, Ruth, busy morning! :faint: I hope it's a good one. :D I know what you mean about the meat...our dog always seems to think that the trash is far too delicious to throw out! She also lets us know that we don't wash our recyclables out well enough...she digs them out of the can and licks them perfectly clean. Have a great lunch with Margo...what's on the menu?

Chipper, have fun on the treadmill. Have you tried books on tape like Ruth's doing? I love working out to one of those... Good for you on getting your finances in order! :cp: Have fun with the GD!

You are Bamie-the-taxi today, huh? :D I hope you can at least pick up a nice decaf/skim latte with SF syrup or something on your way to make it more fun. :D I just got the new John Mayer CD and it definitely makes getting into the car more enjoyable.

Ooh, full moon, Sherry! My old therapist was sure that the full moon did something to people...she always had more appointments around that time full of people who were having weird things happening to them. Interesting! :chin: Hope we have a good day in spite of the moon and snow!

Abroad, love the image of your dog wishing and begging. ;) The chicken soup actually sounds tastier than goulash, but I made a really good german pot roast the other day that you and DH might like. I'll have to post the recipe. I have pilates tonight too...it's so much fun and so relaxing!

Rayneysmom, you sweetheart...can I come by your garden? :smug: Unfortunately, spring won't be here for at least another month or two, if not three or four. :( I love spring and really miss it!

Chipper, thanks for reminding me that with spring comes yardwork and mowing and more...I think I'll stick with winter for now. There's too much to do inside the house to add outside the house too! :o

Morning, Ellis! :grouphug: How are things today?

Amb_lyn, darn! I just sent some snow your way last night... Oh well.... Have a good sleep girl! :grouphug:

Me:
The wonky scale has me at 217.5 today. Blech! :tied: I did have a second serving of fruit yesterday and more of that darned popcorn (I threw the bag out before I consumed it all) and I know I'm building muscle, but still. :p No extra fruit and no popcorn today!!! :jig:

The sun is shining, and that's a major plus. I'm working on getting my meds right, and that's a plus too. And no work tomorrow and Friday, though I do have a 30 page paper to write. Still, there's time to do it, and that's great. I have a ton of work to do at work for next week's events, but it'll happen. I definitely feel better today. :D

We're having chicken and asparagus with mustard sauce tonight. I'm having lunch with a friend to review her resume today, so I'll have a taco salad in the cafeteria. No chips, please, but extra beans. :T

Have a great day, chickies! :sunny:

Barb and Karen, we posted at the same time!

Barb, I'm so glad the dinner went well! :grouphug: You really plan for success!

Karen, if you search around, you'll find many, many menus posted in the forum. You do want to be aware of portion size. There is not a limit on beans or soy nuts, but they do have calories, so you don't want to over do. That said, with only ten pounds to lose, you are going to lose veeerrrrryyyyy slowly. The closer you get to goal, the harder it is the shed pounds. So be patient, and think of this as a change for life, not a diet. Also, you need to increase your veggie intake. You're trying to get 4.5 cups of veggies in a day...and you want to try to have them with every meal and every snack if you can. Good luck! :grouphug:

Morning every chick,
Chipper, you are thinking of your mower, I am about to dress up and go start the snow blower. :D We have a ton of snow, I am kind of glad as it gives me another go at the snow blower :?:
Well I am going for another tanning session today if I get myself blowed out. and drop some papers off at the insurance place. Then I think I will get the paper off of the bathroom and my bed room so I can start painting them.
I think I have to make a list of what has to be done so I can have something to work by :o
All for now, Love Tazcat
Weighing in today :)

Morning all!

I flipped on the ice at the car dealership this morning. So I'm going to start throwing sand at those of you who are blessed enough to have flowers popping up!!!!! I'm so sick of snow and ice. If I was one of those people who sue over everything - I could be driving a brand new car soon. But I'm not. I just got everything working smoothly with the neck and I take a digger on some black ice. Now my wrist, neck, and lower back (that's a new one) hurt. :(

Ruth - You need to get little booties for the girls when it's so cold.

Chipper - way to go on the Dave Ramsey thing. He can sound like a pompous a** sometimes on the radio but his views on money are right on. It can be confusing in the beginning but hang in there because it gets better every month. If you have access to a radio be sure to listen to him you learn a lot just listening. I have three things left on my debt snowball (all big ticket stuff) I started a college fund for my son and a retirement account for myself. These are all big steps for me. I've never been good with my own money. I can run a business for other people and manage their money but I can't manage my own money well - until now. It's about time I got it under control. Especially since I'll probably be single for the rest of my life  With a bad back.

Everyone else

My DM (who does Atkins) tried these hard shell taco shells last night. 3 carbs per shell. They were pretty good. It was nice to have a taco again. I'll try and get the name brand.

It's a bit of a crock when you have a really good eating day, and then you step on the scales the next morning only to discover that you've gained three pounds.

Ruth, enjoy lunch with Margo! I hope your cold is gone, hon. :grouphug:
It's not too cold here. -19C. We're expecting snow... it's quite overcast. Oh, yippee.

Chipper, have a lovely time with your GDs. :)
CRAP! You're getting your mower out!? I hate you!! :lol3:

Bamie, last year I rescued my DH eight times when he locked his keys in his car. I should be thankful... it's one of his few faults.

Sherry, isn't it a gift when you get a good nights sleep!? I took an anti-anxiety pill last night just before I put my head on the pillow, and it knocked me out very nicely. I haven't had a good sleep in WEEKS, and I feel so much better this morning.

A broad, I love brussel sprouts! Hated them as a kid, but I really appreciate their slight "bitterness" now.

Amber, I hope you get a good sleep, hon. :grouphug:

Barb, the banquet sounded good! I still can't get over how much weight you've lost... it's wonderful!! :hat:

Karen, why don't you post a typical day for us, and we'll see what's wrong...

Laurie, I'm glad you're starting to feel better. :grouphug: Me, too. :)

Taz, you must be getting really good with that snowblower!

Oh, crap, Amy... I'm so sorry about your fall. :( Have a good soak in salt water when you get home, hon. :grouphug:

Patty, I hope you get lots accomplished today!!

I'm blessedly alone today, and am feeling good enough to do a little painting in the kitchen.
A dear friend dropped over last night with a birthday card and two of her parents old lighters. They are so cool! :smoking: Ruth and Laurie, I have a lighter collection, in case you come across any interesting ones. hint hint.

Hello again,
My 10 pound ticker is just my first goal. I have 40 pounds to lose... :^:
Ok, here goes..I eat all day long instead of meals and snacks. I start with boiled eggs, cottage cheese or yogurt then have string cheese and lunch meat slices with slices of cheese and sometimes a salad, then I have pistachios, and for dinner some kind of meat, chicken, fish or seafood with beans and veggies. Then have jello and a fudgecicle. But if I still get hungry with all that I just eat more of those things.

02-23-2005, 11:29 AM
Okay, Karen... MORE VEGGIES!!! I'm not big on vegetables, so I try to get some in at breakfast to "get them over with"... an omelet filled with mushrooms, red peppers, onions, tomatoes, etc.
You could also keep a bunch of cut up veggies in the fridge and have them with a healthy dip...
I'm sure the girls will have other ideas for you...

Taz, I'm so proud of how you take charge in your life! :grouphug:

Amy, so very sorry about the fall! I slipped yesterday and ended up doing a T-stand in the slush because I didn't want any on my pants! My shoulder and arm hurt now. I hope the pain goes away soon! Be gentle with yourself. :grouphug:

Ellis, I'm so sorry about that stupid scale. You and I need to kick ours to the curb and just have a good, healthy day in spite of it! :high: So glad you are feeling better...me too. :D

Karen, you really need to stick to meals. Plan out your days and stick to them. Eating all day long is going to make it really hard to cut calories, and cutting calories is at the heart of every successful diet change. You also need to have way more veggies and reduce some of the protein you are eating or you'll have protein overload problems. Try cooked eggs in an omelet with cheese and veggies. Eat celery with laughing cow, red peppers with hummus, three bean salad (homemade with sweetener instead of sugar), or other things with veggies for your snacks. If you have a salad, load up on veggies with good nutritional value like spinach, rather than lettuces, which are low in nutritional value. Add lots of broccoli, cauliflower, tomatoes, peppers, mushrooms, zucchini, cabbage, etc. No carrots in Phase 1, but when you get to Phase 2, add those in. You can do this!

Good Morning!

Thanks for the vote of honey spice for my cabinets yesterday! As I try to tell DH...women are always right and they rule the world!

Hunny-Aren't chocolate fountains wonderful? I have to do everything I can to avoid them at weddings and bridal shows!!! I have a show this Sunday where they serve tons of food and cake (not to mention the strawberry flavored Hershey kisses I have on my table) and will try my darndest to stay OP. Thanks for giving me the extra bit of confidence in Kraft Maid!

Ruth-FRASS, FRASS, FRASS!!! It is a great word! Sounds really cold in your part of the world today! I definitely know about old meat in the freezer except I don't think I have any from that far back! My freezer burns everything even on the lowest setting so I try to use up meat as quickly as I can. I do have a few things that I can't tell what they are so I know they must be old! It's raining cats and dogs here lately but spring must be coming. My Birds of Paradise are blooming like crazy!

Chipper-If you cancel your date with GYM too much, he's going to get really sad! :( Try to get that exercise in, girl!!! :tread:

Bamie-Leave it to DH to lose his car key! I'd hate if DH did that since he gets up around 4:00 every morning. I had to bring him once when his truck was stolen and I hated every minute of it! The things we do for the ones we love.... ;)

Sherry-I wish I could sleep all night! I have to take OTC sleeping aids to get to sleep lately!

A Broad-I'm ready for spring here too. It's been pouring down rain since last week. We're going to have a slight break and then another storm next week. :rain: Good job sticking OP!!! DH is not on anything at my house (and doesn't need to be). It makes it hard when he's eating those mint and chip ice cream sandwiches every night!

Kelly-I hope you have a great day!

Ellis-Good Morning! Glad to hear your kitchen is coming together! It sounds beautiful! :) Sorry to hear about the weight gain! I hate when the scale says more than you were even though you've been so good! I think there's something seriously wrong with scales some days! Maybe it's the full moon???

Amber-Sounds like you had a rough night! Get some sleep!!!

Barb-Congrats on skipping that bad food last night! :cheer: You truly are an inspiration!

Karen-Definitely be patient and keep at it! That's what I keep telling myself since I slowed WAY down! Add in more exercise if you can!

Laurie-Those darn scales!!! I'm getting ready to throw mine out the window. Mine hasn't budged in the longest time but I'm losing inches. Just remember that muscle weighs more than fat and keep at it! It will pay off! Good luck with the paper!

Taz-Good luck with the weigh in! I just started tanning this past Monday. I've got to get some color by April or I'm going to be a lobster in Laughlin! I'm starting back slow again since it's been a few months and am going again tonight.

Anchor-You poor girl! I hope you feel better soon! I'd love to know the name of the taco shells. When I did Atkins, I loved the La Tiara brand shells. They apparently went out of business which I don't understand since they were sooooooo good!

Patty-Good Morning!

Me-Well, I have one more cabinet guy coming tonight. Then I'll take all 3 of the quotes and decide which one I'm going to go with. We are definitely going with the maple honey spice. I have the coutertop guy coming on Friday to give us a bid for the granite. I think we are FINALLY getting the wall removed tomorrow! The contractor has been really busy lately and since he's not making anything on the job, it's been a bit of a wait until he can spare the guys. My fingers are crossed that it finally gets done :crossed: !

Not much else is going on. I've been getting calls from brides left and right trying to book for their weddings! July is going to be a killer month for me! I finally had to cut it off so I can at least have one weekend to myself! People have been hiring us lately without even meeting us! We do have 3 appointments on Saturday to sign contracts. It's going to be exhausting! WHEW!

That's about it for me for now!

Talk to y'all soon!!!

Was going to do alot of things around the house, and had to send hubby out to do the shopping as I really hurt my BACK. I can't sit or stand long. I have no idea how it happened. I didn't exercise yesterday,so I can't blame that.

Crap! Today was not a fun day! The physio chick gave me the news that my knee will never get better without an operation and it's not bad enough yet to have one! And then Margo called to tell me her DH and both kids were sick so she didn't come for lunch. So I spent the afternoon pouting and getting the Fair packages ready for delivery tomorrow. (I could have delivered them this afternoon but sulking slows me down!)
I'm grumpy so I'll go the the private cabana for a while! :(

Ok back for a couple of minutes. DD left her cleats here so I had to come back get them then take the girls to the high school! Atleast this time she realized before I got all the way out to the high school!

Amy...Are you sure you are OK? I hope you went to the doc! I have learned all to well that you may not be as ok as you think after an accident. It will be 2 years May and I am still getting treatment for injuries I thought would pass in a few weeks.

Oh for you snow chicks spring is in the air! I have flowers poppin up everywhere! I need to learn how to poat a pic. If someone will tell me I will post a springy pic from the yard! teehee! Oh did I mention it's 60* here! lol But.... the high tomorrow is 48*! Should have known DH is takin off cause I am havin that knee injection and he has about 50 million other things he wants to get done and it will be (to use Ruth's word) Frassin cold! lol
No time to post to all! Sorry chicks... but I hope you all have a great evenin. I need to get a few things done before DH gets home cause we have that soccer parent meeting tonight. Hopefully they will have some answers on what they are gonna do about our stuff we ordered. The boy who collected the money says it got stolen. hello! Says it was locked in his safe in his room and his safe was stolen. The lady who is doin our stuff has cashed our check but says her agreement is with the school and until she gets the rest of the money nobody gets the stuff! It has been the biggest mess I have ever seen! Hopefully there will be an answer to it all tonight! I want my hoodie dang it! lol Check y'all later!

Ruth, sweetie, I'm so sorry! :grouphug: Know that the doctors don't always know what they're talking about. I'd get a second opinion on that one and demand that they help you figure out how to healthfully manage the pain. Good Afternoon Chicks!

Sounds like most everyone is having some cool weather! It is a warm 72 degrees here in Redding, CA. and it is just beautiful. I wish you all could be as fortunate.

Did great yesterday with eating properly, but then my boyfriend talked me into having a beer with him. Oh well, today is a new day. I was way too tired to wake up and go to the Gym this morning, but I am definitely going to go after work.

Hope you all have a great and successful day!
