South Beach Diet - Weighin today and somewhat disappointed

Today is day 8 for me and my official weigh in. I lost 1.7 lbs and am somewhat disappointed. At home the scales showed a 4 lb loss. I have been following the program to a T, with the exception of day 3 & 4 of when I had 2tbl of reduced peanut butter. I'm continuing on with the program, because I know it works.

Patty, Some things for you. The reduced peanut butter you had--was it natural peanut butter? If it was reduced fat Jiffy or other brands, it has sugar and will totally mess with your weight loss. If it was, you'll need to start Phase 1 from when you stopped eating it, since you need to get that sugar out of your body.

You are allowed to have nuts everyday, even in Phase 1. You can have ONE of the following:
30 pistachios
20 peanuts
15 almonds
15 cashews
15 hazelnuts
2 Tbsp of natural peanut butter (ingredients=peanuts and salt and nothing else)


That said, I know it can be frustrating at first, but a slow progress down is better than a fast loss...it gives your body time to adjust and reduces the chance of your losing it back. 2 pounds a week is safe weightloss, and you are around that much...so celebrate! :cheer:

Regarding scales, go with the one you started on. Eventually it all works out...if your home scale is 2 pounds lower, you would have weighed 2 pounds lower when you started...the weight you lost is the same, but the number might be different on different scales because they are calibrated differently. So go with the one you started on, because that will really tell you how much you lost. I know the feeling though...the one at a program I had at work was 7 pounds less than my scale at home...I was very tempted to take it home with me! :lol:

Try to compare your weight not only on the same scale but also at the same time of day. I only use one scale but I normally vary about 5 pounds during the day based on how much I eat, drink, what I wear etc. My "official" weight is first thing in the morning before my shower.

thanks for the advise.
I was eating both the pistachos and the peanut butter, And I was weighing in at home in the nude and then when I weight in at work, it was with clothes on and after I had had breafast and water.

Once again thanks for the advise and support.

If you must weigh at work, do it with no stock in the WI! That's what I do the ladies here weigh every thursday... It can very so much for me from clothes to snack to water. :p Your doing fine, keep chugging at it and make sure your gettin 4.5 cups of veggies a day. and lots of lots of water!! (got to flush your fat out somehow) :)

Hi One day,Congrats:cheer: on your 1.7 weight loss. You really can't go by the scale alone take your measurements,you might have lost inches. I only go by my scale(waist high doctors scale) my doctors scale has a 3+ lb difference than mine ,but their scale hasn't been balance in some time ,since they moved to there new location.
