South Beach Diet - Tues. Chick Chat 2/22/05View Full Version : Tues. Chick Chat 2/22/05 Bamiegurl 02-22-2005, 07:45 AM Good morning everyone! I'm gettin us started and off to get :coffee: ! Kids are back to school today! :D lol I'll be back! chipper15173 02-22-2005, 07:50 AM Morining Bamie; I just got the call that I don't have the GD's today, but, am on call. SIL has an upset tummy. Hoping he isn't coming down with that flu. So, pretty much free day today. Going to the bank, GYM and I have an appt. this morning. I missed him all of last week. I joined WW last night. So, today is my fresh start day. Time to get dressed for the gym, and eat some breakfast. Have a good day to all chicks waking up and joining in. Bamiegurl 02-22-2005, 07:54 AM Chipper...You go girl! You sound like you have a new Attitude this morning for sure! Enjoy your free day! Ruthxxx 02-22-2005, 09:08 AM Hi there, EarlyChicks! We got another dump of snow last night and it made a huge drift at the bottom of the steps down from the deck. Lucy did her usual headlong run down the steps this morning and ended up sort of swimming to get out of the drift. Too funny! Bamie, another busy day in BamieLand? No flies on you as they say in Delta! Chipper, enjoy your date with GYM. I am meeting Tread later this morning. WW works well with SBD, doesn't it? Hersh and I are off to Holly The Fur Stylist in a few minutes. Then I have to empty out ashes and start up the woodstove. It's going to be another cuddle in day although I will have to do some shovelling. :( I have a Church service at 7:30 tonight so it'll be an early dinner. Happy Tuesday, Bamie and Chipper and Chicks to peck in. New chicks, please join us in this daily thread. Don't be shy - we sure aren't! tlcstar 02-22-2005, 09:24 AM Good Morning All! :coffee: :coffee: I feel for everyone dealing with snow and bad weather, I'm used to the New England winters, but am really enjoying this more mild winter in the Midwest! I haven't experienced that instinctual need to hibernate, which is a good thing!! I was super productive yesterday getting both my taxes done and eyebrows waxed between classes. :smug: And, I've been keeping my dates with Gym! I babysit this am for the 17-MONTH-old, not years!!! Although I have seen Desperate Housewives....that could be interesting :o !! I take him swimming on Tuesdays which he loves, and again I consider it exercise for me too! Hope everyone has a great day! Peace- 2BFIT1 02-22-2005, 09:32 AM tlcstar~~Congrats on you and GYM. I need to date him, too  Ellis~~How are the meds going?? Ruth~Dogs in the snow must be fun to watch!! Stay warm. Bamie~~How's the kitchen leak?? Did you get that horrible thunderstorm last night, too?? I hope it didn't cause any damage. Chipper~~Good luck in WW!!!! Me~~Doctor appt, Home Depot shopping and kitchen work (again). I was not OP last week and gained back 3 pounds :p Bamiegurl 02-22-2005, 09:48 AM A quick peck in as I'm headin to the shower. Still waitin on the roofer! Ruth.. I bet that was so funny to watch her in the snow drift! TLC...Have fun with the lil one. They are so cute at that age! Sil...We mainly had storms all day yesterday by lastnight it had started clearin up. I thought we were gonna lose a tree or two a time or two. DS got out with the dog and played in the mud! Sometimes he acts 5 instead of 15. But I am glad he is secure enough within himself to still act like a kid! I had a date with my bike lastnight! woohoo! lol But oh the pain in my knee durin and after! Toughen up sissy gurl! Still have a ton of cleanin to do but man does that floor look good! DH saw a table for sale on the way home yesterday in the front yard of some peeps who just sold their house. It is very similar to the one we have only smaller and round where ours is oblong. So we bought it for 25 bucks to put in the bfast nook and it fits much better than ours did. Which ours is now sittin in the livingroom. Gotta figure out what I will do with it! lol Thank goodness I have a huge livingroom! lol Ok I'm to get ready for my day. amb_lyn 02-22-2005, 10:17 AM Good morning ladies~ Been MIA since last week. Had those nasty wisdom teeth pulled, has a bit of a problem that day and the day after. Boy, was I extremely ill!! Almost all better today though! YAY!! Have not eaten well OP the past 2days. Noodles in my soup that dh made and last night I had a pancake (homemade) for dinner. I'm still having problems eating some things. I'm craving a big chicken salad!! I am going to try it today, see how it goes. I need to make a date with gym as well, but my time..sigh..i HAVE to make a date with him this week!! I will shoot for tonight. Let's see if I can keep it. Ok, off to do a few things. Have a Great OP Day everyone!! anchor weight 02-22-2005, 10:43 AM Morning Chickies! Everyone sounds so chipper this am! I'm in a pretty good mood myself. The Chiropracter said I could start exercising again! Yeah! I'll tell you that sugar I had prior to TOM really REALLY messed me up. The hormonal implications of sugar/TOM and my body just don't do well. My head is finally starting to feel better today! The depression I felt in the last week was overwhelming. Sugar really is the first drug we become addicted to. Bami - Yes I think waiting a year or so would be good to begin dating. I think I had this feeling that I would never ever date again for the rest of my life because no one would find this old 40 year old attractive. Now that I know that isn't true - I'm more comfortable waiting awhile. DS is creating phone envy where ever he goes. But the downside to it is that the only reason he has a phone is because his DM & DF are no longer married. (and his dad is kind of stupid  but we don't tell him that part.) Can't wait to see your kitchen floor! Take pictures. Ruth - Still snowing here too! I love how dogs get all frisky in the snow. Chipper - you go! Pass some energy this way. Tlcstar - good luck with the baby! That is a great age. Laurie - I like that you do different things to exercise. I was getting a little bored before I hurt my neck and had to stop. Now I will try and mix things up a little like you do. Amblyn - I was worried about you! I doubt you gained any weight. I couldn't eat when I had my teeth pulled. Just too yucky! Make sure you follow the directions from the oral surgen - you don't want an infection or dry rot (or whatever they call that dry tooth thingie) DS crashed on his face in gym class yesterday and popped a bracket off his braces. He cut his mouth all up and has a black and blue nose. Poor little dude! Braces are tough. I have parent/teacher conferences tonight so we'll see how he is adjusting to his new school. Last conference was great and his report card was great so I'm hoping for a good report. Take care! tazcat 02-22-2005, 11:36 AM Good morning to you all. It seems like I have been MIA for ever. I have been so busy, I bought my moms house and it really needs a lot of work. Lucy cat and I moved into it Feb. 8th., she is finally adjusting to the move, she slept in her own bed last night. I have been painting and putting floor down. Last night I put molding around the new floor, well it isn't perfect but close enough :D It is really fun to pick out colours for the rooms, but not so much fun putting the colors on. :?: I bought a new truck last week, (now I can move my own junk ;) ) and I put my first big ding in the tail gate on Sunday, it's only a truck :o .I backed into a tree, the tree is missing some bark but it is OK. You all soud like you are doing OK. As for weight I have lost 8# since started SBD, I don't have time to really work on it as I am very busy with the move. I am glad to have something to take my mind off of losing mom and Ken. I really do miss them. Any way I will go for now, be good It is snowing here, I have a tanning session this afternoon, so Love Tazcat Rayneysmom 02-22-2005, 02:08 PM Hello All Been busier than a one armed wallpaper hanger in a duplex  Haven't had time to post. We are bidding 6 jobs on the 24th so - my days are WIDE open so far this week. I am getting my exercise running up and down the hall. Sounds like everyone is having a good day. Hope it stays that way. Try to check in later Love ya'll kissyjoy 02-22-2005, 02:45 PM Hi Chicks!!! Been missing for a few days. This weekend was good except for the fact that I ate like a :ink: ! This was the first weekend since the beginning of January that I ate off plan the whole weekend. I've had a small cheat meal here and there but I totally blew it! I was so frustrated that the scale hasn't moved (even though I've been losing inches) that I ate everything! I had every intention of staying OP and started out that way. Then we started getting busy and I ended up having Arby's. From there it went to Mexican food, then pancakes for breakfast the next morning. OY!!! I'm back OP this week though. We got the quote for the cabinets on Saturday. I couldn't believe what it was...$18,000 :yikes: and that wasn't even installed! Now I could maybe see this if it was a huge kitchen but it's not! We eventually got it down to around $8700 but have decided to get another quote from another place that carry the same line of cabinets. I have to meet them at home today so they can measure. DH is going to go over the design with them on Friday morning. Then we'll make a decision. We need to get this figured out so the cabinets can get in the process of being made! I hate living out of crates that are stacked in the garage. It's a PITA when it comes to finding a can or something I need to cook with! I think we're going with a maple cabinet in honey spice color. Here's the link to the door http://www.kraftmaid.com/doorsfinishes/index.cfm?navigationid=312X0&doorstyleid=56. The honey spice looks dark in the picture but it's really not. DH is going for the natural so we'll see who wins! Sunday I stayed in and watched the race! Jeff Gordon is my guy so I was totally happy he won. DH and my stepdad are going to the races at the CA Speedway this weekend. Our family owns a collision repair shop and work with DuPont paints. The sales rep got them tickets to the DuPont luxury skybox on Saturday and good seats on Sunday. I'm so  that I can't go!!!! I have 2 bride appts. on Saturday and a bridal show on Sunday. I guess I have to do what brings in some $$$$. I have my fun week coming up in April anyway so I guess I won't complain.....much. Yesterday the computers were down in the office so I couldn't post. I hate when I can't check my mail! What did we ever do before the internet??? Ruth...I wanted to let you know that I found myself saying FRASSING over the weekend. I can't remember what I even said it about but I immediately thought of you! :) I've got to go get some work done. I've been catching up on all the posts over the weekend and yesterday and not getting much done. I'll try to get back later! Have a great day! Barb0522 02-22-2005, 02:46 PM I just realized I never posted in the Daily yet. Busy day. I'm still sore from the workout but it is a little better. Tonight is the banquet with the non-SB food: hamburgers, chips, ice cream, and cake. I've got my WW buns, sliced raw veggies, hard boiled eggs and SF banana cream pudding. Hopefully I can resist the bad stuff without being too obvious. Taz - Good to see you posting. :grouphug: Bamiegurl 02-22-2005, 03:11 PM Kissjoy... I like the honey spice. I didn't think he looked dark at all. Oh those wild w-ends! lol I am back OP myself. How lucky they get to go to the races! Barb...Stay strong! lol I gotta jet work to do. ChinaRose75 02-22-2005, 03:34 PM This is my first post on the daily chat, so I thought I'd just jump right in! Today is day 5 for me of phase 1. I have lost 2 pounds, but probably would have lost more had I not had low blood sugar one day and ate the only thing I could find in my car (Nutri-grain bars). I now have my car stocked with peanuts in case this happens again! I also have been pretty proud of myself. I have been making it to the YMCA every day and have worked out for at least 1/2 hour. Amber: I have much sympathy for you. I had my wisdom teeth pulled last month, and got two dry sockets and thought I was going to die! A month later, and my mouth still hasn't totally healed. lunawytch 02-22-2005, 03:38 PM I just wanted to say hi! I'm Sherry and I'm new to SBD and well I wont actually be starting until Monday but I just wanted to pop in and introduce myself. It will take me a while to get to know everyone and I'll have fun trying! It's a icky day here in Maine. It snowed last night and today it is melting and the ice is sliding off the roof and making big crashing sounds that is scaring the crap outta me!! Catchs me off guard every time :-) Anyway, hope everyone has a nice day Sherry Ruthxxx 02-22-2005, 03:45 PM Of course you can jump right in, China Rose! Are you diabetic? If so, peanuts are a good remedy for low BGL but you might also consider roasted soy nuts or chick peas. Good work at getting to the Y so often. Barb, good luck at the feeding frenzy tonight. Be strong! it's good that you are going prepared. Amy-Lyn, sorry you are having such a time with those teeth - or rather without those teeth! Kissyjoy, I think I like your choice best too. Tell your DH it's your kitchen so you should decide - unless he does the cooking. Isn't FRASS a great word? Gotta run and get the dog food made before the Girls decide to tear me limb to limb for their supper - thighs first, please! :yikes: beach bum 02-22-2005, 03:52 PM Hi Gals:) China BIG CONGRATS ON YOUR 2 LB WEIGHT LOSS:cheer: Your doing great. Sherry Where in Maine do you live. We vacation in Bar Harber. I live in Cape Cod and we had snow also. Yikes :yikes: can't wait until is Spring. You like the SB ,its very flexible with only one restriction : Enriched flour products. have a nice day Hugs :) BB lunawytch 02-22-2005, 04:00 PM Hi! BB- I live in Brunswick now, but I grew up in Machias (about an hour away) and went to Bar Harbor all the time. Very pretty there. I still go there in the summer at least once just to walk around and check out things. Hubby and I plan on going hiking/camping there next summer...if summer ever comes! ha ha :-) Sherry 2ndChance 02-22-2005, 05:30 PM HI to EVERYONE Well the workday for me is almost over and I can smell that Taco Bake we're hav'n for dinner...............:hungry: :hungry: OOOOhhhh I just realized! DUH today is the 22nd....EXACTLY eight MONTHS til RETIREMENT!!!! :cp: I might just add a few more blocks to our walk tonight to celebrate!!! (My hubby :( won't be too happy with that since he's been OUTSIDE in the cold, going up and down a ladder all day!) After the walk I think it time to try baking again.....muffins for breakfast! BYE...Patty ChinaRose75 02-22-2005, 05:43 PM Thanks for the support Ruth and Beach Bum. Ruth: No, I am not diabetic. I occasionally get low blood sugar. It only happens to me every couple of months. Admittedly, I go without eating sometimes for too long. tazcat 02-22-2005, 06:18 PM Love the cupboards.............. sweet tooth 02-22-2005, 07:12 PM Hi everyone. I finally have a few minutes to post here. We have had a chaotic couple of weeks and it doesn't promise to get any better. We will get through, though. AND back to work today after the three day long weekend... Bamie - Congrats on the exercise. Keep working at it, it will get easier and better. You must take some pics of the floor. It is worth the work that you put in to it. WTG. About the extra table... You wouldn't like my answer, considering I am the worst packrat going. We have a 3500 sq ft house and still can't park cars in the garage and have one bedroom stuff with extra things. Good luck, though. Chipper - I'm getting in a bit late, but hoping that you enjoyed your free day. Take care. tlc - You make me envious. I have been trying to get the motivation to do taxes for the past 2 weeks...I just can't figure out why I can't get them done. A few years ago, DH went to China for a month at tax filing time. The day he left, I took a day off work to drive him to the airport. I went home after and did his taxes, filed them via the telephone (6700 refund), got the check and spent it before he got home. Come to think of it, he's going away again this week... How was the babysitting? I just thought it would be cool to babysit a 17 year old. DH keeps saying that he wants to adopt a 17 year old girl, so, what the heck! 2BFit - Take care of yourself. The weight gain and unhealthy eating aren't worth it. you can do this. Make sure that you don't get too busy and forget about eating properly. That can happen waaaaay too easily. Laurie - Do you get the time off during break? We had reading break last week, but we have to work, still. Can bowl down the hallways it is so quiet. Some of our students are still on break this week, so it isn't quite as busy as it could be. Take care of yourself during your exercising. You don't want to get hurt doing those body beautiful exercises...just get beautiful. Amber - Good to hear that you are on the mend with the teeth. I had mine done last June and found it difficult to open my mouth for a couple of months. I also experienced numbness on my jaw, teeth and tongue that took a long time to clear up. I have been lucky because the dentist said that the numbness could have been permanent. Anchor - Hope the teacher-parent conference goes well. There are always concerns with children who are going to a new school. Hope everything goes well. kissjoy - My vote is for the honey maple. I'm not much of a fan of the natural wood ones. We wanted new cabinets a few years ago, but couldn't afford the price of them - as you well know. DH stripped the old ones, removed the dark stain and redid them the honey walnut color. I am so much happier with them now. tascat - Sounds like you are busy with renos and moving. Take care and keep posting with us to let us know how you are doing. Barb - Two words for you today...BE GOOD!!! ChinaRose - WTG on the 2 lb. loss. You can do this. Remember the first 2 weeks are the hardest and you are managing well on it. Keep it up. BTW - Welcome to our group. Sherry - Welcome to the beach. We will be looking forward to your progress. Good luck. 2ndChance - Congrats on the upcoming retirement. I'm wishing on retirement, too, but have about 6 years left... However, if things don't go well, it just might be less. Like your ideas of a walk to celebrate. I need to do more of that these days. Me - Well the past 2 weeks haven't been the greatest. DM has a recurrence of breast cancer and we received a call this weekend that we had lost a nephew to diabetes. After I hung up the phone, I was just thinking to myself that these things come in threes and I wonder what the third it... Just then the phone rang and we found out that one of DH's aunts passed away Sunday morning, as well. Trying to get to funerals across the country this week is putting us in a real quandry. Our nephew lives in Toronto and the aunt lives in Calgary. DH is planning to go to Toronto to the funeral there, and I will go to the aunt's funeral in Calgary. That way, I have more control over getting home if something happens to my mom. I will need to pick up DH's parents (90 and 92), and drive them to the funeral. We will get through, though and hopefully without too much stress. I was in a panic Sunday morning after we found out the news, trying to get in touch with our daughter. The last thing that I wanted was for her to find out about her cousin at church, or from her boss. Fortunately, they had gone away for the weekend, so there was not concern. We had an extra day off this weekend, too. Our dog couldn't believe that there were 3 Saturdays in a row to play. This morning she went from couch to couch while we were getting ready for work. She couldn't keep her head up...didn't even want her toast for breakfast. She was glad to be kenneled for the day to catch up on the sleep. Hope everyone has a great evening. Take care. HunnyBee 02-22-2005, 07:16 PM Quick chime in for me! Went to bridal expo... have you ever seen a chocolate fountain? Well I had some OFF Program stuff at the EXPO one piece of angel food cake in the fountain and one mint other than that I did good! I don't feel good about wi tomorrow. Ugh. I never do.. Cant remember the last time I worked out... Anyway, ((hugs to ya'll)) Kissy Joy-- My Sister and Her Dad work for Kraft maid!! As you can imagine I have seen my share of cabinets LOL>> they are good quality tho! I m so happy to meet the Newbies! Welcome and I love the Beach too! :coffee: vBulletin® v3.6.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
