My friend Jean said this this morning as we discussed how hard it is to stay on programme. It really hit home to me and I thought I'd share. Jean would not mind.
Why can't I think of my SIL so close to dying from her cancer now and realize what a blessing it is to be healthy and able to plan my meals, walk my walks and enjoy the world.......and just put up with the little bit of discomfort from the cutting back a bit? I cannot turn the feeling bad about her situation into an excuse to eat more......that cannot happen!
How very true! No excuses.

Ruth, how poignant and true! A big hug for dear Jean...this must be a hard time for her. :grouphug:

But you're right. When we don't really want to be OP, we find lots of valid excuses. When we do, we don't let anything become an excuse. It's a different viewpoint. And knowing that you might lose a leg (diabetes) or die (high blood pressure) isn't impetus enough, as odd as that may be. If taking a bite of a (insert favorte food here) would make our leg fall off instantly, we might avoid it. But because it's a slow process, we kid ourselves into thinking that one more day won't hurt.

In the end, we have to truly be ready to stay OP or we won't. End of story. But it's a hard thing to do, and a long road to get there. I'm just glad we have each other to encourage one another on this journey. :D

(anyone up for singing Cumbaya? )

In your sig.

Ruth, you make me feel better about my "stress amnesia", as my darling therapist calls it. (aka I wouldn't know where my head was if it wasn't screwed on! :dizzy: )

Gotcha! No wonder skinny monitor didn't show up when I did a search!
I mean to replace my old PC monitor with one of those skinny ones - down to $399 from $900.
I'm glad I make you feel better!

Ruth you are funny! So you want a flat screen huh? They are nice. Mine is a reg size monitor but has a flat screen on it but I would love to have one of the skinny ones myself. Oh and about 24" at that! lol

Ah! Cool! What a fun (and appropriate) reward! Will you hang it on the wall or go crazy and put it on the ceiling above the couch? ;)

Those flat screens seem like a lot of fun. We still have my big 18" TV from college.

We have a flat computer monitor on one computer at work, and we all fight over it! Mine is so big it takes up half the desk!
