good morning gang!

sunny - wow! already got your 2 miles in today! :cp: that's great!

I feel good about getting in 36 miles for January, considering how crazy busy :dizzy: I've been with year end stuff. Even tho it doesn't look like things are gonna slow down any this month I will try to get in 40 miles in February.

:tread:

If I get any of those miles in today, I will post them later.

I'm proud of all of our gang for the exercise they did last month! :cheer:

Hope everyone has a great day, a great week and a great month!

Congrats Sunny, for starting this month off with a bang! That's the way to do it, girly! :) Keep it up! :) I really loved what you wrote about February being the month of loving ourselves. That is key in this whole journey. At least it is for me.

Cathy, you did phenom last month! I'm so very proud of you for getting out there and walking away those pounds! Good on ya, lady! :) I have no doubt in my mind that you'll reach your Febraury goal of 40miles!

The rest of you ladies, I hope you all reach your goal this month and that you are happier and healthier because of it!

As for me, I'm setting my goals at 25 miles and 8lbs lost. I should be able to get a few miles in today as it's bright and beautiful outside (YEAH!). I'll post later how many I actually manage to get in. :)

Anyways girls, I have to go get DD outta the tubby now, so I best be off. Take care of yourselves and have a wonderful day! Best of luck to all of you!

Hi Cathy & Mel  Always great to see you both!

Yeah Cathy... I got an early start to my day today... I had so much to get done and still haven't finished. And I knew that if I didn't walk in the morning I wouldn't - I was right ;) I am tired :faint:

Thanks Mel, How are you & your family doing? Were you guys ill with the flu? If so I do hope that you all are feeling better. You & Cathy have set some great goals... I don't know yet what I want to set. I think I will set one after I see how this week goes.

 *Welcome Sherri* Sure you are welcome to join in... this thread is for anyone who wants to set a personal goal and see how well you can stick with it - not being competitive with anyone but yourself and supportive of those on the thread. I look at it like a group of gals who go out daily together for that very important walk of the day :D

Good to see you all!

Hi Ladies,
Well I added up my miles for January and I walked 52 miles. So I suppassed my goal of 45 miles for the month. I think I will set my goal for Feb. at 50 miles. I got up this morning and did my 2 mile Walk Strong video and then came home from school and walked 2 miles outside before going to my TOPS meeting. I lost another 1/4 pound. So I am still in Onderland. That is my fear that I will gain my weight back and be over 200 pounds again. But I will just keep walking and doing my workouts at Curves and hope that I don't get to be over 200 again. LOL Well I better go and get ready for bed. Wednesday is my long day at school. Talk to you all later.

You gals are awesome! :cheer:

I'm hoping to really get out there this month. Its going to be 60 degrees here this weekend! :flow2: I can't even believe it. We had a scare of possible ice yesterday (didn't happen) and then to go up to 60! Wow. So I'm gonna get out there and rack up some miles. I'm hoping to finally buy the Leslie Sansome DVD's too. I saw the 2 pack deluxe set for $20 so I'll probably get that soon. Sounds like you're doing good. I hope I can do 1/2 as well this month. Congratulations on all your hard work! :high:

I just started walking on jan 19th, and last month I walked about 21 miles in a week. This month my goal is to walk 60 miles (fitday tracks this for you! www.fitday.com) I love the walk away the lbs video, I have express, super challenge 4 mile walk. So far I can do 2 miles, am hoping to get to 4 by the end of the month...plus I usually walk outside as well as do the video... next month I'm buying an eliptical, I'm so excited!!!

Yesterday evening I did the 2 mile walk and some weight training. I plan on walking again, but use the 3 mile one. I was thinking about what my walking goal will be for this month. I think I'll start out at 35 miles and see what happens.

I hope everyone's day is starting out great!

Hi all,
I can't remember if I posted on the January thread or not but I've been reading for a while. I'm working on getting my walking mileage up again in the New Year. The main thing for me is planning my day so that I can take the train to work and walk back to the train station in the PM after work. I did it a few times in January but things were so crazy that I didn't get back to my regular schedule of at least 3 times a week.

I'm also registered for the Idita-walk which is a charity thing where you track your minutes Feb 1- Mar 20 and get up to at least 1049 minutes (the same as the number of miles in the Iditarod race) and will be working on that. It works out to 20 or so minutes every day, or more reasonably 30 minutes most days of the week.

First off, a BIG welcome to the newbies! I look forward to hearing of all your glorious successes during your weightloss journey! :)

Secondly, it sure sounds like everyone is off to a great start this month! Good on ya, ladies! Keep it up! Let's all meet our February goals! :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:

As for me, I managed to get 4.25 miles in today! The weather is fantastic... 8C, not bad for the first week of February! :) Actually, I'm quite impressed since it was only a couple weeks ago that I was whining that it hit -27C! So yes, I'm definitely tickled pink with all this sunny weather!

Getting back OP as far as eating is concerned... last weekend did me in and the scale showed it! So time to get serious again and keep my eyes on the prize! 124 HERE I COME!

Everything else is good... DH is suffering from a nasty cold, men can be such babies! ;) Ah well, he should be right as rain in no time. Hopefully, anyway.

Well ladies, best of luck today! Stay happy and healthy and take extra special care of yourselves!

Hellooooooooo!

Well...had a doctor appointment today. The bad news is my blood pressure is still up. Gotta try to eat better and monitor my bp at home for a few weeks. Then if it is still up the doc will put me on some lo-dose pill.

The good news is that somehow i managed to lose 7 pounds! Go figure!

Saw some new names in the mix---glad to meet ya!

Sunny has us all started off with some serious motivation and jumped right on in with her 2 mile mark! You go girl!

i will be signing off shortly and will do my Walkblaster before i hit the sack!

Later, deb

I wish I had more time to post to each of you, but I have so much to still do before tomorrow and so little time... :dizzy:

For exercise: I have been lifting boxes and hauling things around in doing an early Spring clean-up in my home for the last two days from 9am till around 7:30pm taking about a 40min. break all day --- does that count for anything ;)

And I have gotten in another 2 miles today,
but hope to do a bit more next week :D

My goodness Sunny, all that lifting and hauling and moving. Heck yeah, that counts for A LOT! And with only a 40min break from 9-7:30... wowzers, you must be plum exhausted! Well, WTG! I'm sure you'll see some results from all that work! Keep it up, girly! :)

Lottie, WTG, getting 8mi in already! That's phenom! You'll be at your anniversary goal in no time! :)

Cathie, your consistency blows me away. Seriously. Every day you're here with miles to log! Now that's dedication! I'm really very proud of you, lady! You're doing awesome! :)

As for me, I'm going to aim to get 3mi in today. The sun is trying really hard to come out, and I really want to get out and enjoy this weather! I was quite angry at our friend the groundhog, 6 more weeks of winter... BAH! That really doesn't make Melissa a very happy camper at all.

Anyway, eating has been back OP... and I'm getting all my water in (plus some) so hopefully the scale will show better numbers the next time I hop on. We shall see.

Well, ladies, I hope you all have a wonderful day! Keep happy and healthy and take care of yourselves! Best of luck today! :)

Good morning ladies! I hope you're all off to a wonderful start this morning! :)

Wow, Lottie another 2mi yesterday! GOOD FOR YOU! :D You're doing fabulously!

As for me, I'm aiming for 5mi this morning. This month, I've seemed to taken a real liking to walking again. Last summer, I was walking 4mi 5-6x a week... but then I just lost all my determination... all my oomph. But now that I'm only 19lbs shy of my ultimate goal, I'm really wanting to kick things into HIGH gear.

I'm hoping to be down in the 141-range for tomorrow's WI. I've kinda hung around at 143 for awhile now, and would really LOVE to see the scale move in the right direction. I guess we'll see tomorrow, won't we?

Anyway girls, I should take off. But please have a happy and healthy day... take care of yourselves and keep up the GREAT work!

Hi Gals,

Hi Cathy & Mel, glad to know that cleaning counts, cuz I have been quite busy! I just had so much to get done this week - and all at once... have you ever begun one project to find yourself up to your neck in another. It is like a Domino effect :dizzy: I also had a deadline today to e-mail everyone with the music lists - I am in charge of selecting music for the musicians at our church for each month and I was way behind in getting started. But I did get it finished and even got it done for next month too! So now I am all set till the end of March :D What a relief! :^:

Joe & I also got our taxes done last night too - so I was brain dead by 9pm. We mailed that off this morning - nice to know we'll be getting a bit back this year :smug: Oh... and I had to make a couple cards too... a friend is moving and another is ill. That took me a bit of time to do too... I enjoy embellishing them.

I still haven't paid my bill's this week! :p I usually do that each Thursday, but with so much to get done this week I have neglected *us*. Maybe I will squeak in a couple hours tomorrow... we'll see. We are going out to dinner with our friends tomorrow evening to celebrate my 48th birthday together... we always have the best time out with them!! My birthday is actually on Tuesday and my hubby is going to take off that day too :smug: Don't know what we'll do yet, but we always have a good time.

Cathy, I am with Mel... you are such an inspiration for me too! I so wanted to get in another mile or two today, but just plum ran out of energy. I know I will do better next week now that I have all of this finished.

Mel, I am exhausted! But it's a good tired - I have gotten so much done. And I can tell you one thing... I have slept like a baby the last few nights, right through the night too! I usually wake up at around 3:30/4am but not these last few days!! I struggled to get out of bed!

:bravo: Mel... to be so close to your goal!!! :cp: You are doing a wonderful job getting back on track. I have found it to be quite a struggle since Christmas :p :^: :p I am keeping up with exercise, but need to get back to my food program again before I become ill again. I have been feeling so well these days, don't want to mess that up again.

Lottie, you are doing wonderful too!! :cp: Very impressive!! I wish I had half your energy ;)

Enough of my bantering... I will catch you all on Monday, okay. We have a very FULL weekend this weekend - what with a Super Bowl this Sunday... anyone having friends over to watch the game? We'll have our buds over with their kids --- it'll be fun!

Have a *GREAT WEEKEND* whatever you do Gals!!!! :D

Hi you all! Glad to see you are all on track! That keeps me going. ;-)

I have been staying a little above 10,000 steps a day. If any of you count steps too, go to www.americaonthemove.org and sign up. It's neat. After 3 days of logging steps, it sets you a daily goal. Also, you get to choose a virtual trail to walk. Mine is the Lewis and Clark trail. It's fun. I'm with the group walking.about.com. At about.com. Anyway, it makes me even more determined bc I want to surpass my goal every day. So far I have for every day this month. I also measured myself and I'm only 1/2 in away from my valentine's goal. I hit my waist and hip. 1 inch off! Yay! But my chest is still .5 away from it... only lost .5 there. One more week!

I'll come back when I have more time! This week has been so busy.

Hey ladies, sounds like you're all kickin' some tail this month! WOOP WOOP! :D I don't doubt for a second that we'll all reach our February goals! WTG girls! Keep it up, you're all doing fabulously! :D

As for me, I managed to get another 4mi in over the last couple days. While the weather has been nice, it's been darn cold outside. BRRR! Today, it's all sun-shiny and such... but we're sitting at 0 C. Man alive. That just doesn't movitate me to get outdoors, I tell you. Meh.

Nothing doing on the scale-front. WI went ok... I didn't gain... didn't lose. So we'll see. Hopefully we'll get moving again. If not, it's back eating cantaloupe and lean proteins for a couple of days as per my program.

Anyways girls, I should be off. House to clean. Daughter to get dressed. Lots to get done. Take care of yourselves and I hope you all have a happy and healthy day! Best wishes to you all! :)

Hey Gals,

I'm back on Take-Off (a 2-day quick weightloss program), but instead of cantaloupe, I spent the $30 and purchased the juice from LA Wtlss. We'll see if that kicks things into gear again. When I did the cantaloupe a few weeks ago, I saw minimal change, so hopefully the juice will work better for me. I'm really wanting to get out of the 140's!

I know my weightloss has been fairly steady, but with the amt. I paid for my program, I REALLY need to be at goal by April 1st. And being stuck at a plateau for too long will cost me an additional $11 per week. Meh. So I gotta get things moving again.

The next two days will be a little difficult with very little food (2 protein bars, 6oz lean protein and 2 servings of vegetables - 8 glasses of water and 4 glasses of the Take-Off juice), but I'm sure it'll be worth it when I WI on Thursday evening. Oh, and I take my measurements this Saturday... as of week 8, I had lost 7 inches total. Not bad. I'm hoping to be closer to the 10 inch mark this weekend! Guess we'll see.

Anyways ladies, I'll check back in with each of you later today. Take care of yourselves and I hope you all have a happy and healthy day! Best wishes!

I *Thank-You*
ALL for the wonderful Birthday wishes!!
How very thoughtful and kind of you :D
It has made my day feel complete :smug:

It was a pretty laid back -NICE- day for my hubby & I yesterday :) It began with a phone call of birthday wishes from my parents... it's always nice to hear from them :D Then we did some running around from place to place, we went shopping at *Bath & Body Works* (love that shop) where Joe bought me a candle, body wash & lotion for my birthday... he wanted me to choose which one I wanted because there were so many new scents to choose from when he went to get me something on his own... I enjoyed them all! But the one I chose was *Creme Brulee* ("oh my goodness" yummy!!). There was also *Angel Food Cake* (yummy!), *Lemon Meringue* & *Chocolate Fondue*.

Joe & I left for dinner at one of our fav. restaurants... we met our friends, Mike & Peggy, there and had a great dinner! I had... "Oh my goodness" - great tasting :T Chicken Marsala with Portabella Mushrooms, a special treat (my mouth is watering as I am thinking of it again!). I even got a FREE slice of Birthday Cake afterwards ( just took a bite or two - and then I saved most of it for the freezer ). Then we came back here and had some decaf coffee and more cake (oink! :ink: oink!). This morning I felt like I had the worst food hang-over... but I had a super time!! While I felt this way this morning I wrapped everything up and threw it in the spare-room freezer. Not to be touched till after Easter now... if then. I am going on a *NO SUGAR* fast for the 6 weeks of Lent and am going to try to eat more fruit and veggies instead, in hopes that it becomes a great habit by then. I thawed out some shrimp to snack on today (YUM!) & fish for our dinner tonight. I am looking forward to it & feeling better again! I'm not sick like before (yeah) just feeling crummy from all the sugars I ate and am not use to :faint: I did get in 2 miles today and it really helped me feel better too.

Here is a picture of me with the cake Joe bought me :D
Isn't the cake pretty? He did good :smug:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v242/SunnyD57/Home%20Pictures/MyCake.jpg

Thank-you again for your thoughtfulness everyone!

Just thought that this was a great weigh-in graphic for how I feel on the morning weigh-ins :D

*~*~*

Good morning Nikki, You should be so proud of yourself in getting in 33 miles already!!! :cp:

:bravo: girl!

But, you should really only weigh yourself once a week --- I weigh-in every Tuesday morning after going potty, but before I have eaten. It seems to be more accurate. I know some gals that only weigh-in once a month because the body can fluctuate so much. 2 to 3 times a DAY is way too much... you will only set yourself up for disappointment and frustration. You naturally gain fluids through the day and you will also have a bit of swelling in the muscles after a workout. Please try to weigh-in once a week if you can and just go by how great you feel ;)

*God Bless*

Awwww, sorry I missed your birthday Sunny. Sounds like it was a great day for you. :D Let me know how your sugar fast goes. I'm trying to get back to that myself. I feel so horrible when I eat too much sugar, just wish I could remember that yucky feeling as I'm stuffing it in my mouth! hahaha

I forgot to check in this week. I managed to do 1-1/2 miles on Tuesday at the indoor track. Really enjoyed it. My ankle was a little sore though after so I took yesterday off. Supposed to do aerobics tonight. We'll see. I have my first UTI and I really don't feel too pleasant. I hope I feel better by the weekend because I have BIG plans with my sweetie for V-day :o   Haha I think I made the plans as much for me as I did for him. We're going to the restaurant at the reunion tower (If you've seen photos of the Dallas skyline its the big lighted ball) and we're staying at the hotel right nearby. I can't wait! :D Hopefully I'll have a photo or two to share Monday. Later all - Amy

Good mornin' all! :) I hope you're all off to a great start this a.m.!

Sorry I didn't get a chance to get back on yesterday to post to each of you individually, I had a job interview and spent the majority of the day prepping for that. I should find out either way tomorrow... so I'll let you all know how it goes.

Sunny, glad to hear you had such a wonderful birthday! And yes, that's a lovely cake that your Joe picked up for you! Lucky gal! :) Good on you for going on a sugar-fast for Lent! Do let us know how it goes. :)

Amy, yes UTI's certainly aren't a walk-in-the-park! I do hope you're right as rain for your weekend plans with your Valentine! :) Good job getting those couple miles in on Tuesday... keep up the fantastic work!

Nikki, I agree with Sunny, weighing yourself 2-3 times a day will drive you bonkers. Especially when the recommended daily intake of water can weigh up to 4lbs. I know you're wanting to keep an eye on gain/loss, but it would definitely be more accurate if you only hopped on the scale once a week. Now that being said, I have to WI three times a week (as per my program) and quite honestly, even that drives me crazy. Even when I'm up as little as 0.4, I find I get stressed out, whereas if I was allowed to only WI once a week, I could focus more on the loss than any little gain. Good luck with it girl, and let us know how it goes. In the meantime, congrats on your fabulous effort... 33mi is crazy-awesome! Bravo!

Lottie, you're kickin' some tail as well... nearly 35mi is KILLLER! You'll be at goal in no time! :)

Cathy, as always, you're doing fabulously! I really applaud your consistency... just awesome, girly! :) Keep it up!

As for me, it's day two of Take-Off and I'm hoping to see some decent results at WI tonight. I would LOVE to get out of the 140's, I feel like I've been stuck here forever even though it's only been since the beginning of January. *Sigh* I know it's a process and it will take some time and GOAL isn't too far out of reach, I guess I just get frustrated sometimes.

Anyways gals, I best be off. So much to get done today... meh. Take care of yourselves and have a happy and healthy day! :) Best wishes.

Hi all,
I'm up to 315 minutes this month, so that's good. I may or may not walk to the train this afternoon after work depending on when I get done, which would get me up to 345 ish.

Just wanted to pop my head in and say, for those of you who remember me, that I'm not lost and I haven't forgotten how to walk! ;)

I'm a month and a half into 6 months of high-dose chemo for Hodgkins Disease -- a form of Lymphoma, cancer of the lymph nodes. It's pretty rare -- like 7,600 new diagnoses in the US annually -- but apparently I'm a special girl, so it picked me! Well it picked the wrong girl....I'm on a mission from gahhhd, as Dan Ackroyd says! I'm approaching it the same way I did losing weight: methodically, with a positive mindset, and hope in my heart.

I've finally gotten back to walking. The biggest thing with the chemo is the fatigue -- the meds control most of nausea so far, thank heaven -- so it's been tough getting myself going. But here's my exercise for this week, since starting back on Tuesday:

Tuesday 2/8: 2 mile WATP
Wednesday 2/9: 2 mile WATP

Today's Thursday, and I had my chemo treatment today, which takes a lot out of me. They seem to be getting harder. So no exercise for me today, and I'm playing tomorrow and the next couple of days by ear, but then I'll be back on my feet again, getting some miles in. I'm thinking that even if I'm feeling just too knackered or light-headed, I'll try to bike instead. I don't want to overdo it, but I do want to keep up the regular exercise, as it will help with increasing my energy levels and also help me to avoid further weight gain from the steroid I'm on to ward off the nausea.

It's weird celebrating completing the 2-mile walk -- I couldn't even use the 6 lb. weights I used to. The 4-mile Challenge was my favorite, and I was doing stepping and weight training (lifting as heavy as I could) and also biking with high intensity intervals, going 8 miles in 20 minutes and also doing steady rate for an hour and a half sometimes. But you've got to crawl before you can run, right? I did it before, and I'll do it again. I know now that I can do anything to which I set my mind, and while I've got a lot on my plate right now, I am loved and supported by the best partner in the world, I have a great doc, nice nurses and wonderful friends (online and off,) great insurance, and loving pets to hold and love. I'm set up for success. That said, I'm thinking a few prayer from you guys wouldn't hurt! I'm Stage IIIB, and if you know anything about cancer, that's not the best.....but my prognosis is good, and most people who go through my regimen do well. 66% of them live more than 15 years, so I'm trying to find that encouraging.

Sounds like you're all doing really, really well -- go, Go, GO!!!

Special hug for Sunny, who came and found me over at the 100 lb. forum, where I posted some pics and they have a an absolutely amazing ongoing support thread for me.

Take care everyone! I'm not a real Arnold fan, so try not to think of him when I say, "I'll be back." ;)

First and foremost, thank you Sarah for letting us all know how you're keeping. We've been thinking about you and wishing you all the VERY best! I'm so happy to hear that you have such a positive outlook on things, that you're taking things day-by-day and not pushing yourself too hard. Please check in whenever you can, let us know how things are going, and remember we're all praying for you! :)

---

As for me, the scale didn't budge lastnight. Blargh. I'm going to stick to eating OP the next five to seven days to maximize Take Off and see what results that brings.

I'm hideously exhausted today, DD decided it was time to get up at 1:30am (not even an hour after I actually fell asleep)... with more energy than I've seen in a long time. What the.....? I dunno. I'm just tuckered right out. Hopefully she'll go down for a nap at some point today so I can too. We'll see.

Anyway, I best be off. I hope you all have a happy and healthy day! Take care of yourselves!

Hi ya'll! You are all doing so well! I've been so busy this week, sorry I haven't written! But I'm still here, rooting for all of us! :cheer:

Destined, do yourself a favor and throw that scale in the trash! I'm serious.. I don't own one. I know some of you have plans that require it, but I haven't weighed since the 3rd week of Jan. I will probably weigh in March sometime. I know I've lost though. I just bought a new top and new jeans in size 18. Yay! But I won't buy many things til I'm at goal, maybe one outfit per size. If you can't throw it away, hide it and be committed to once a week (or like me once a month or less). :D

Amy, have fun and post pics! ;)

Mel, I'd hate myself if I weighed once a week, much less 3 times! Wow.. I'd be crazy-psycho. I can't stand walking/jogging 45 mins most days a week, and eating very low fat and then seeing the scale go up! LOL. It did when I had the TOM, 4 lbs up! But then back down. Too much disappointment. You are stronger than me. I want to only see it when it has gone dowwwwwwn.

LK, You are doing greeeeat!!

Sarah, I'm praying for you. Nice to meet you! Hang in there!

Cathyyyyy, you get up early too? I do sometimes, but I did it before more. I should do it again. I do exercise in the morning but I don't get up extra early. I should tho.

Sunny! Hugs! Glad u had a nice Bday!

Miles so far.... 68. I haven't been under 10,000 steps a day at all this month!! That's about 5 miles for me. Today I did 16007 steps, about 8 miles. Had lots to do! ;)

Take care y'all!! Have a great week!!

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY LADIES!

---

Well the weekend was disasterous in terms of eating. Really over-indulged... and hadn't even planned on it. Quite dissapointed with myself, really. :( Today, I'm just trying to get back OP. Really going to work hard at that this week... eating only stuff I'm allowed to eat. We'll see how that goes.

Walked 4mi yesterday on the indoor track and did it in just shy of an hour, and today I managed another 3mi, this time outside. I have decided to aim for 15 miles this week alone, which shouldn't be too hard if I stay motivated.

Nothing too exciting going on for Valentine's Day, DH has to work until 5pm and then has to work on my cousin's truck. I will be making us dinner though... probably won't eat until 8:30 or so, after Meleigha is in bed. It's nice just having some adult-alone time, you know?

You all sound like you're kickin' some butt... walkin' all those miles! FAB-U-LOUS! That's killer, ladies! Keep it up!

---

Lottie, you're doing amazing, girl! I'm truly impressed! :) Good on ya for treating yourself to a nice relaxing hot bath, you certainly earned it!

Selina, yeah, I don't particularly like weighing in three times a week, but don't really have a choice since it's how they monitor my progress (I'm on LA Wtlss). I'm thinking that I might just face away from the scale so I don't know when I'm up or down... but rather I can tell by how my clothes are fitting. Oh, speaking of which, congrats on the purchase of your new size 18 jeans! I bet you're just tickled pink, hey?! That's great work... and all those miles, wowzahs! Crazy-awesome! Keep it up!

Cathy, how'd your day of house-cleaning go? It's such a great way of getting in exercise... kill two birds with one stone, hey?! Indeed! Well, keep up the phenom work, lady!

And to all the rest of you, I hope you're all doing well! Keep on truckin' ladies! We're half way through February... and so close to reaching our monthly goals!

I should be off, but I hope you all have a lovely Valentine's Day! Take care of yourselves! Best wishes!

hey gang!

I took the day off from work yesterday to spend with hubby! We had a great day together!

So basically - I took the day off from everything - exercise, counting calories, food journal - everything.

I hope to get some exercise in during lunch today and will post it when I do.

Did anyone happen to see Oprah yesterday? I taped it and watched it late last night. It was a show about how she lost the weight. I knew it was bec she had literally been exercising her buns off - but the 4 people on her staff that committed to her and Bob Greene's program for 12 weeks exercised like crazy - 8 times a week - and they exercised HARD when they exercised - ate nothing white (potatoes, rice, bread) and ate nothing after 7:30 at night - no matter what - and drank water water water! After all of that, one girl lost 12 lbs in 12 weeks - most people would have a fit losing that small amount of weight after all that hard work (but I certainly could relate to a small loss) - dang 12 lbs in 12 weeks would be a world record for me! The heaviest guy did lose 30 lbs, but of course, he had more to lose. They really worked hard!

anybody else see it?

hope everybody has a great day!

hugs,
cathy

Well, I finally broke down and got a membership at our local rec centre. Actually we bought a year family membership so DH can hit the weight room, DD can get used to the pool and I can use the cardio equipment.

Ontop of working out for an hour and a half on the bike, treadmill, stair-climber and eliptical, we headed out for a 4mi walk yesterday afternoon. It felt great to get all that exercise in! I've decided to hit the gym three times a week focussed on cardio for the first month or two, then from there I'll start to tone up.

Anyways ladies, I hope you're all keeping happy and healthy! Keep up all the excellent work! You're all doing fabulously! Take care of yourselves and best wishes!

Hey.. any ideas on a cheap way to work out on machines at a place that has a place for kids to be? I want to go work out from noon to 2pm every day when most of the kids are at school. I have looked at some regular gyms and they are too costly for me right now. I know some churches, community centers and parks have workout rooms...

Hi gals! How are ya? I'm still sick. :( Sinus stuff turning into a cold or something. I did manage to get another mile in last night. My boyfriend is actually getting interested in walking with me so we did laps at the mall last night. He even got a headphone splitter for his mp3 player so we can listen together while we walk. :D Yes, we did get a lot of stares. haha But who cares. We're getting fit together! I'm going to try to weigh in on my dads scale tonight. My scale at home must be lying to me cause it says I'm down to 182. I would love to believe it, but I'm going to get a 2nd opinion. ;) Later gals!

OH, Selina-I would say either a community center or the YMCA. The community center is probably pretty cheap. My YMCA membership is $35 a month. Usually a $60 joining fee but sometimes they have 1/2 price specials. I tried a community center here once. I don't know if its different than most. It was $12 for the card for a year, then you pay monthly for the services you want. They had a package for the indoor track, weight room and aerobics for like $15 a month. Can't hurt to check some out. Good luck :D

Thanks Amy! I will check on those for sure! Hope you feel better soon. :)

Ok, I'm at 128.5 miles for the month. I am doing 15,000 steps a day for the rest of Feb. Plus trying for two days a week of 20,000 steps. I got in my two days at 20,000+ this week, plus since the 18th I've hit over my 15,000. I usually have to walk at least an extra hour, so with all the kids here, I have to go in circles around them if they play outside or I jog/walk in place when we are indoors. You really have to get creative! LOL. :dizzy:

We can do this! :cheer: Have a great week! Hugsssss!!!!

I finally got a pedometer, so I can join in now!!! I walked six miles today, and went for a one hour swim. It's half a mile to the pool, and half a mile home, and it snowed today!! There is something quite surreal about walking in the snow to have a swim!

The rest of the walking was done whilst shopping. I had a near accident with my swimsuit, I've lost a dress size, so had to get a brand new one! I managed to get a sports bra to fit me today, miracle of miracles, I can now bra shop in a standard store instead of the fat chicks shop (Evans in the UK), which doesn't do proper sports bras.

I think I'll be up to 815 minutes for the month by the end of the day today, unless I suddenly get inspired. Since that's just counting intentional walking and not the usual running around, I think that's pretty good. For some reason I find the minutes more fun to track than using the pedometer like I used to. Odd, I know.

Congrats to everyone whether or not you met your Feb. goals for sticking to it!

Good for you Selina! I think your whole family will enjoy the Y. I love the elliptical machines. It took me a while to get used to them, how to get it moving and all. And at first I could only do it for 10 minutes before I passed out. hahaha :D But once you get past that first 10 minutes its a lot of fun. You really get a full body workout since most of them use your arms too. Every leg muscle and your butt all get worked out. Good luck!

I managed to do just a quick 1/2 mile yesterday with the dogs. It was cold and they weren't really motivated to walk. haha But we tried. I didn't do much for the month but as the weather gets warmer I know I'll be outside walkin my tail off :D Later gals!
