Starting up

Good morning. Wednesday here by my calender, the 26th of January.

We are getting socked in again this morning, another 10 inches on top of the 2 feet over the weekend. Kids had school yesterday, but are out again today....

I am all caught up on my auction work, I have to check the web sites but I am waiting for people to do the data entry.

Listening to a good book. I am almost done with the new John Grisham, Back to the corrupt lawyer thing he does well. I will look for a new book today. So another day at home with the kiddos....

PS little man left his snow stuff at school, might have to give him older boy's stuff and give older boy MY snow pants!

later  to all the chickies, hope you are having a good week

Good morning, L144S. I have been watching the TV shots of the snow you East Coasters have and am very impressed! We have had some snow but mainly have siffered from very very low temps. It was -27F overnight so I am loading the woodstove very often and freezinbg my tush off doing it! can I borrow your snow pants, please? :)

Hersh seems to be getting back to normal after her operation. She has another week before the stitches come out but is still having gentle play periods with Lucy and being her usual affectionate and cuddly self. I must admit I was very worried about her when she seemed groggy for so long after the operation.

You chicks won't believe this but I am finally exercising! Granted it's only for 5 minute periods on the treadmill but still it's something. Between that and the knee exercises from the physiotherapist, I intend to be in great walking and gardening shape by spring! Remember you read it here first!

Today is Lug The Garbage To The Road Day as well as HUMP day so I'd better bundle up and get out there. When it's this cold, I try to make only one outdoor trip per day.

Hugs to all.

Thanks for starting us up this week, L. Been a very busy week and I just haven't had the energy to do it.

Man, Ruth, you had me shivering just READING about those temps! Glad that your fur baby is feeling better.

L - Great news about being caught up on the auction work. Hope the kids have fun in the snow.

Hi, Dottie - how is the audit going?

Hello to Meowna. You sound like you have a lot on the ball even if you do carry around a very full plate. I'm impressed with you...

Hi, Sue - How is your week going?

*waves* to everyone else that lurks here.

I cut my right index finger pretty bad on Saturday evening cutting french bread for the boys. I probably should have gotten a few stitches in it but I was doing the 'ol "it's not really that bad" routine. It finally stopped seeping thru the bandaid TUESDAY! Now I'm going to have to deal with a side-split nail and try not to catch it on something and rip if off 'til it grows out enough. *sigh* It's always something....

And if I don't start my period by Friday, I'm not responsible for my actions. I'm just sayin'.

Ok - everyone have a very nice hump evening. No, not like that, unless ya want to.

hya all-
we are off-line at work right now and it's really cramping my style! I miss it more than usual since it's hard to use the one at home as well.

Kel- I know the cut you mean! I did it to myself cutting a lime a few years ago and still have a little white line on the side of my finger, that went into the nail... it did heal without stitches, but I kept it taped well for a long time.

L- we just got 2 more inches when you got the 10, plus it was warm for part of yesterday so there was some melting on the street and sidewalks that helped. But it's back down to 7 degrees this morning!

Ruth, I know 7 degrees doesn't mean anything to you! And you're such a jock, that you probably don't feel the cold anyway! My DH says there's a sign in some guy-gym some where that says "no cursing, no spitting, no quitting" Do you want me to needle point it for you to hang over the treadmill?

hi L, I'm looking for the Grisham next. I'm listening to "Reading Lolita in Tehran," great but long...

Audit going well...my individual specialist survey is over, and went very well. The rest of the hospital continues til Friday, but I am relaxing a bit.

No other real news...counting down to take MIL home in Feb...thinking of going to Florida for a week the first week of March...and many fantasy's about home improvement plans for after we get our tax refund!

AND big news- I have lost 2 more lbs! I am very pleased, as it happened without really meaning it. I think from ALOT of snow shoveling this weekend, combined with switching to soup for lunch at work. I am snacking but keeping them low fat when they are carby, like pretzels. I am down 5.5 lbs. from Jan 1.

enough. time to get out the door!
have a great one,
dottie

just time for a quickie hello- came by to see what's happening. I guess you're all frozen up (except Kel) like we are here, 5 degrees overnight last night. It's not that bad cause it's so dry and not windy. But my furnace runs and runs! What will the oil bill be this year?

continuing on my soup and yogurt diet. This was born out of convenience and has taken hold. A sugar free dannon in the morning with plain oatmeal or cottage cheese around 10. Then 1/2 can soup of my choice at lunch, and I finish the can in the aftenoon when I'm hungry. I guess I've just been too busy to graze...

that's it, gotta run
have a good one,

Um.....it's -27F here this morning and we are out of firewood. Anychick want to bundle up and go out to the barn for me? I'll pay big bucks and even give you one of my dogs. They are cold and they have fur coats! Hmmmm - maybe I can wear my mink and fur hat to go out there.
Off to the doc for my annual this morning and going to ask for a heated speculum! ;)
Happy TGIF!

01-29-2005, 07:25 AM
-27 is that celsius?

ok, you win! but our 5f is making my furnace work! that trip to the barn for wood sounds mighty inviting, but maybe I'll wait til AUGUST!

nothing new here. I have been struggling with a toothache and hope the dentist can see me today- I am taking more Advil than one should...you know you're in trouble when you WANT to go to the dentist!

Other than that, just some cooking and a run to the store. I want to start getting the taxes ready, pay some bills on-line, and maybe schedule plane tickets for Florida at the end of the month.

dull, but dull is nice sometimes, you know?

monday morning...hi on my way out the door...

I have to post to make myself accountable for having a good week, food-wise. the weekend eating was a little heavy on the carbs, but I am going back into a more balanced mode that has been working for the last few weeks. Yogurt, soup, cheese, and triscuits during the day, with a protein and a veg for dinner. there. I said it. I'm ready to go!

have a good one,

Morning to you Dotti and all to lurk and post,

Little man has no school so we have a few errands to run and a little fun planned for the day. DH took older boy to school so I have time for a cup of coffee before I get dressed and do a little bit of work.

Life is good, but cold, I am not loving winter although I WOULD go to the barn for you Ruthie if I lived closer because I know you would do it for me....
Have a good day chickies, come on in and chat.

tuesday morning-just having my coffee before getting into the shower and out the door. Hi, L- I'm getting tired of the cold as well. Time for a southern vacation! I have friends who go to baseball spring training in FL and I am going down for a little break at the end of Feb...can't wait to get someplace warm and get into the pool.

not much new...finishing a few last MD appointments for MIL, then she goes home in a couple of weeks. She is antsy to get going, but I don't feel she can drive or do laundry, but we will take her home anyhow, and then go down to fill in with the chores as needed. It'll be nice to have my house back! She's just as eager to get to her own apartment, but she's been talking about being lonely there. I think she'll miss living with us, but wants her independence and to have her own things around her.

that's it...today is yogurt, beef barley soup, cheese, and then chicken and spinach for dinner. Didn't do great yesterday, OD'd a bit on Cheeze-itz, can't wait for them to be GONE!

have a good one,
dottie

Hi!

Dottie - That is wonderful that your MIL will be recovered enough to be in her own home soon. Yes, she will probably miss you guys but she has also probably been missing her home as much as you have been missing yours. lol

Ruth - Goodness! I hope you guys get a bit of a warm-up up there! You are doing great with your weight loss and treadmill work. I've just GOT to get into a routine and start jumping on mine daily.

L - I'm with you on missing warmer weather. The last couple days we've FINALLY had some sunshine and it has been a wonderful mood-lifter but I do wish those temp would move up. (I know, I know - it doesn't really get 'cold' in Cali. compared to the rest of the country but it's cold to us!)

I'm going to do something daring and ask a guy out for coffee today - wish me luck. (no, no, no - I'm not going to just grab some guy off the street. I've been talking with this one for a while now.)

Have a great day all! My boys have baseball tryouts starting today - I'm excited!

Kel

Just checking in. It's finally "warmed" up to above 0F - practically balmy! I know I've been whining about the weather but it definitely is justified. Thanks Henry Ford for putting heated seats in my Focus!

Dottie, Florida sounds great. I am sure you will really need the break after the past few months. I can imagine you and MIL will be glad when things get back to normal although she will be lonely.

L144S, thanks for the offer to go to the barn for me! I wish! We are running out of firewood. Would you like to come up and split and stack some for us?

Kel, I'm glad to hear you aren't just grabbing guys off the street although it IS a thought. Have a good coffee time with your friend.

Meowna, has the snow melted yet?

I just tried to do the floor exercises for my knee and failed miserably! I hurt when I lie on the floor even with the mat. I think I'll need to get a foam pad or something and maybe do it on the couch in the bathroom. Yes, I have a very large bathroom with a built-in couch. Small house but big bathroom!

I'm off to pick up the newspaper and the mail and them may try to get some of the snow off the back deck. February 1st brings us one month closer to spring which usually doesn't show here until the end of March but who knows?

Have a good Tuesday.

hello chickies,
Good to see you.

I have been busy sitting on my butt doing auction work. I HAVE to find the time to exercise again. I miss it, I am just having the winter blues and having trouble motivating.

Dottie,
Good news! I hope it all goes smoothly.
Kel! Do tell who is the lucky gent to be spending time with OUR kel?

Ruth, carring wood is one thing chopping and splitting is pushing friendship just a little too far. Don't you have a bunch of "lads" up there in the great white north that you can BUY the wood already split from?

off to get the kiddos to bed. Little man is a little bit under the weather....

Good evening.

Well, I'm kinda in freakout mode since I haven't really dated since I was, like, 15 years old. I fully intended to ask the nice baseball dad out for coffee, in a casual, friendly way but he beat me to it and asked me out on a date. So I'm a bit befuddled and feeling very awkward this evening - I can't believe I'm feeling this kind of stuff at 45.

I'll comment to everyone in the morning when I, possibly, will be feeling a bit more 'together'.

Sorry to disappoint but the date hasn't happened yet! He has 3 boys that he shares custody of and this is his week 'on' so it probably won't happen until next week, or maybe on Sunday? He called me at noon today just to see how my day was going and if I was dealing with things ok - lol, so sweet.

Oops - just hope from boys' baseball practice and I've gotta whip something up for dinner. Chat at ya later!

Hey Ruth that sure was cold weather wan't it?? i can sure sympathize with your cold trip in the snow for the wood. My car(DD2's) would not start and I was trying to call home to get DD to come get me with MY car, and well SH thought I was just harrassing Kate as I kept calling back every time the answering machine would pick up so he hung up on me 3 times. so I had to walk home the mile to and from work (back the next day) it was not untill after I got back to owrk that I saw the temp - 18 (F) BUT again I was very angry and well i guess you can say that the sidewalks cleared with every step of any snow that had accumulated!! my anger was so great that you could have seen the red beacon for many miles!!!

So you ask how am I??? Don't. I now am starting with a cold HHHMMM I wonder why. that walk did me no help but neiter did tucking about 20 hours of over time above and beyone the 50+ that I usually put in. It is lighteneing up a bit. and I am happy for that. the sickies are trickeling back into work slowly but surely.

Kel let us know when the date is going to happen. We can all gather round and help pick the outfit and put on make up for you. I feel like a kid with a friends date!!!

friday morning-
just flying by to check on ya all- Sue, think how many calories you burned! (if you could burn calories just from being mad!) But the mile walk in cold weather was probably worth a lb. or so!

not much new here, quiet at work this week and I'm getting some down time to read. I am catching up on the 10th and 11th Lemony Snicket books, I was falling behind DN and must get caught up! they're fun at least.

boring day, no plans for the weekend either. must think of something, maybe a movie. Oh, right, superbowl. Yawn  haha

off to work we go-

Dotti, with you on the superbowl. I too will be at the movies...what? I don't know yet.

A strange week here. Older boy 11 as it turns out (whole day in the hospital and lots of test) passed 3 kidney stones! I can't get into too much detail, but it was not a fun 4 hours.

Little man has a double ear infection to top that. I am off to veg infront of the tv and catch up pn last nights telly.

be well,

Hi, Robin, how're you doing?

It's a beautiful morning here, cold but bright and sunshiney! I just feel like cleaning! (NOT)
I do feel like cooking however, and am going to make some chili, and maybe a pie for DH. I've been so focused on work for the last month, it's nice to just think about home stuff. Maybe I'll start to paint the trim in the guest room!

Nothing else planned, just going to read and relax and do my chores!

have a good one,

week is starting off with a bag here. what is new with that???

I am loaded up with stuff.

L I can sympathise with that poor child My SH almost passed out with stones so I can imangine what that child was like and how much fun to help him over that crissis.

Is today the superbowl?? I do not watch Baseball  so I do not care. Too much real life stuff to deal with that sports is not my idea of fun enjoyment. Time to make another pot of coffee. the one I made at 4 am is gone. Danny (DOG) again has decided that he wants to go and run at that time. I l\ive in the city and SH lets him run and I do not so he wines for about an hour until he realizes that I am not going to let him run. Besides while i was walking him the cops were pulling in the drive to check the business next to me to do it's nightly drive by. So I have been up at 3-4 am every lday for the past week between work and the dog!!!!!

Well if any body want some coffee come and get it!!

02-06-2005, 01:07 PM
coffee for me, Sue. I am up at that hour often, too- but it was nice to sleep in til 7 yesterday and today! I am making chili for dinner tonight for our NOT-Superbowl party. Well, that is just dinner for the 3 of us, but it will freeze well to take for MIL's freezer when we take her home next SATURDAY>
Did I mention that we are taking MIL home in 6 MORE DAYS? Less than a week? Saturday!!!
I am so mean.
But, she wants to get home as much as we want her home. she can't wait to be able to sleep all day and eat trash without me hovering and suggesting healthy nutritious snacks and meals. She can't really do much for herself, but will live on soup and ritz crackers. People survive on worse I suppose.

Well, I'm headed over DS for a little Scrabble with DN. She is into playing games, and we are enjoying this phase alot!

have a good weekend all-

Unfortunately I have auction meeting today but that is par for the corse. I wish I could show you what I am working on, but it is a little to close to home for the internet.

Hi!

Home for a few minutes before I have to go get boys from practice (and see my favorite baseball dad!)

L - So sorry you had that emergency with you boys last week. How scary! Glad to hear they are both doing better. Boy, would I love to get that lazer Hair removal -

Dottie - I doing the count down with ya! Yeah! You get your house back!

Hi, Ruth - hope you guys are melted down a bit up there. I wish you warmer weather and plenty of wood right on the porch!

Well, my Sunday date was very nice (actually, it was MAGICAL but you all done want to hear me swoon) and we will probably do another date this week sometime. He is a very nice man and it taking things very slow. I tell ya, having a new man in your life sure does kick start the motivation for weight loss (among other things *wink*), I have lost 4 lbs. in the last week & 1/2 without even trying. Seems I'm just keyed up and/or nervous all the time and can't eat much (so nice not to be doing the 'I'm bored' eating).

Big fluffy clouds with brillant sunshine here today - a bit nippy but the looks of it make up for that.

Have a great day all! (I know I am! lol)

swooning with you, Kel! Yum. boys can be nice sometimes, can't they? tell more!

yes, counting down...DH, who has been a rock thru this, is falling apart in this last week with MIL...it's like he's been holding it in for 6 months, and now he just can't take her anymore, he is constantly annoyed with her and doesn't want to spend any time with her. Last night he made me promise we wouldn't delay the drive for weather- He can't go another week! So blizzards or hurricanes, we're doing the drive on Saturday! LOL, he is too funny.

L, is the laser permanent? A friend of mine said go do electrolysis it's worth it and more permanent. did you consider electr.? I really want to do this, too. (under the chin getting white bristles, isn't that wierd?) Wish we could see the auction stuff, I know your work really hard on it.

things are Ok here-I didn't plan food well for yesterday, so finished up the day with snickers! BAD :nono:

so, today:
b-yogurt, 1/2 bagel
l-beef barley soup
s-triscuits with cottage cheese
d-very small bowl of chili
no desert or maybe an apple.

not too low carb, but it's now I've been eating lately.

Dotti,
lase is premenent and more so than electrolosis. 5 treatments should do it. BUT you may not be canidate. The hair has to be dark in order for the laser to be attracted to it. I wouls compare the 2. Usually the plastic surgeon offices are the best place to source out the laser.

I am doing it because I have some skin problems and my surgeon recomended it. Unfortunately it is gastly expencive. 3 treatments down and I can say for sure it is working

Busy day today, tomorrow too and another snow storm brewing....

Hi girls just checking in and catching up!

dottiejon
02-10-2005, 07:48 AM
Hi sue, hi L,

thanks for the laser info...I have heard that it is super expensive- I was thinking of doing it as my treat for taking care of MIL for the last 6 months. I will have to check it out.

Yesterday was awful. Started out with dentist appt to finish up a root canal-he did a check up and exrays and found another cavaity that needs attention, so I have about 4 more visits in the next couple months. Ate an Egg McMuffin afterwards. Home to work on our taxes...Ate Dunkin Donuts afterwards. Then to get my haircut and manicure...I was so upset with the haircut that I left without the manicure! But made time for a TACO SALAD! This was supposed to be a nice pleasant day off...then waited for the furnace guy who stayed almost 2 hours cleaning the furnace. I shouldn't complain, it needed service, but i was due to meet DS for dinner and was late...but made up for it by DRINKING A MARTINI AND EATING PASTA AND CHEESECAKE! I feel so crappy today I could cry. I even made vegetable soup while I was home in the afternoon, but didn't eat any.

Well, there is vegetable soup for lunch today. And an apple, and some cottage cheese. I will drink water and just hide my ugly head in my office until my hair grows in. when you are fat, you can't afford a bad haircut. And the stylist didn't get it; it's very stylish and kind of feather-y around my chin, but there are bangs in my eyes and I hate it!

there. just little miseries. nothing life or death.
but I still feel cranky today...better fill up my coffee cup and get moving! the eating can be improved today. the hair I have to live with for a while. the dentist must be faced. can I run away?

hope your day is better!~

Awww, giving you a big hug, Dottie. Try not to focus on the icky stuff - try to focus on the fact that you are going to be able to be ALONE in your own home very, very soon! Yah!

The mother of one of my bestest friends growing up (lived accross the street - have known her since we were 3) passed away and the funeral is today. She was 84. Karyn sounded on the phone last night like she was dealing as well as can be expected. It will be nice to see some old friends at the service today. They are having an after reception but timewise I don't know if I can attend. I will need to be at the ball field to pick up the boys are 5-5:30.

Then later this evening, my new 'friend' is going to take me for coffee and a nice walk in the park. Can't wait. We are trying to do things, find venues, where we are free to just talk, talk, talk. It is really fun getting to know someone special.

Gotta run - can't just throw on jeans and put the hair up in a ponytail (we have a 'casual dress' office) today since I will be leaving for the funeral from work early afternoon, so I need to primp a bit more this a.m.

I AM THRILLED> I am reorganzing things a bit back to normal and planning a nice dinner for DH and I for tonight. happy happy happy. and I'm going to spend the whole day on the computer.

I have some cleaning to do also, and a quick run to the grocery store. I have a load of wash in, and did 2 last night, so I'm mostly done. Just going to stay home and enjoy the silence of my empty rooms!

Hey Kel, tell us more about him! I think we have to screen him and see if he's good enough for you- Is it going well? Is he cute? All the talking is a good sign I think! Hope you're having fun.

yeah, where is Ruth? and a few others, I might add!

have a good Sunday,

You guilted me to get in here, Dottie. I have been reading but just don't have time to post. That darn South ***** Forum is really hopping.

All is well. I'm anxiously waiting Spring but appreciating the longer daylight. Working to get the frassing knee back in shape. Dogs are fine and Hersh is all recovered from her operation. Harry is about the same but showing a few signs of life - like bringing in some wood and shovelling off the deck! Ran out of firewood but had some delivered yesterday and a crew will be here after Church to stack it. I love my friends and neighbours!

Happy Valentine's Day to you all.

Morning all!

I'm not sure if anyone posts on Sundays but this is my last day off of work till Wednesday, so I thought I'd pop in and say hello :)

This week went really well for me, even though I didn't start my exercise regiment till mid-week. I have a four-day circuit training program that the owner of my local gym made up for me, and because of a certain 'aunt' that came to visit last Sunday, I just didn't feel up to starting it till She left ;)

That being said, my 'warm ups' have developed into a full half hour workout even before I do my circuit training, and I'm rather dismayed to find that it's getting easier... so I have to change it up a little... so while I am somewhat dismayed, I'm also very happy that I can run 2.25 miles on the Precor without feeling like I'm going to fall on my face upon disembarking said elliptical machine! LOL!

Eating is getting easier too... I haven't really had a real 'sweet' (my known downfall) all week... a mouthful of chocolate pound cake that my daughter left on her plate last night, and that's about it! I've taken to making a menu for the two week period in between paycheques, so making dinner every night just got easier. Tonight it's homemade meatloaf, steamed broccoli and cheddar mashed potatoes (which I LOVE but won't eat tonight cuz I'm just not in the mood).

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their weekend!

Welcome, Rae, glad to have you join us. You are doing great with your eating, exercise and GUNG-HO attitude. Keep up the good work! Tell us a bit about yourself - we are all about 'life support' here, not just diet support.

Ruthie - Got a giggle about the 'South *****' comment! I've heard your make reference to the cattiness over there before - I'm sorry they make you have to actually moderate. That is wonderful news that Harry is showing a few signs of life - I know how much you miss him. You are a good friend/neighbor/community member so that is why people help you out. Karma! Give the girls a hug.

Dottie! 'Welcome home'! lol I can tell how much you are relieved to have your house back. But I want you to know that you are my hero - that was a very loving, selfless thing you did taking her into your home and caring for her when she needed you. You are 'good people'!

Hey, L - how is your winter cleaning going? I agree it makes more sense to do the major overhauls in winter - once that warm spring weather comes along, who wants to be stuck inside?

My talking/walking date the other evening was very nice. We are really getting to know each other. We do talk everyday at the ball field but there are a few other parents around and we are attempting to keep the blooming relationship lowkey so as not to embarrass our sons. (no one has said anything, at least not to me, but I'm sure these other parents know 'something' is up) So far the only snafu going into this is that he has 3 teenage sons that he has at his house every other week, his mother and disabled sister are moving in with him for a couple weeks before he relocates them to Washington, and I have the boys home with me all the time too - so we are really challanged trying to carve out some time for just us. We make due with the ballfield visits and frequent phone calls back and forth. I'm thinking that the 1 hour park walk date will be a common thing - which is fine with me. I don't want my boys to feel like I'm gone all the time either. John and I both agree that even tho our children come first, we do deserve some fun and time for us.

Well, I'm going to work on tax info gathering today - ick (it's like the 'Shoemaker's children go barefoot'. I hate to take care of my own stuff! lol)

Have a wonderful Sunday all -

Kel

Happy Sunday, DH took the kids and the house is just me ant d th girls for a little bit. I am getting new carpet upstairs, it is 20 years old and just isn't working any more. The quest room which was the baby room eons ago is getting new carpet too. They will move the furniture but not the stuff so winter cleaning is almost done.

My SIL (friend from college) married to DH brother called to say they are getting the big "D". As much as I don't like him i know that she has nagged him into every big thing in life, house, kids, cars, bigger house and it has finally crumbled. They have to put the new house on the market and she is going to look for a smaller house. I am not sure she can really aford it. Life is going to be very lean for a while. We will have to see how it all plays out. We have offered to take the kids if they need it but we can't choose a side other than the kids. I have to say that once they get through the next year, I know that this is the best thing for them.

Ruthie, good to see you
Dotti, a little celebration is a good thing. it means you did a good job.
kel, i hope this works out for you,
Rae, HELLO!
-Off for a little quiet time, I have to go through last years auction for my school in Deerfield and see what I can put together for a live auction and what they expect to get again this year and what I can package. i must say I am loving auction work and the company that I bought software from, offered me a job this week!

tuesday monring-
L, it sounds like all is well in the auction world! how is the new carpet?

Kel, all the talking is neat- i'd be nervous "going public" in a school/local setting where your kids and his and everyone elso sees- and keeping low-keyed will give you more privacy with Iyour feelings. DH and I met at work, and kept our dating secret for months; I was glad cause I always felt if it didn't turn out, I wouldn't have a million people watching! We have always kept our relationship out of work- we don't drive together, or see each other in the course of the day(we DO talk on the phone though!) Hope you are having fun with the getting to know you and I like you stage...

Rae, you are doing great and I love the 2 week menu idea. I don't do exact menu's, but I do keep track of what's in the freezer and I plan something nice for saturdays and sundays. Your exercise sounds like it's going great too (an area I am not good with)

Nice to see you Ruth- does the dr have you doing exercises for the knee? What a pain- you are too active to need this problem! hope you're staying warm, and glad Harry can help out- it's probably good for him to "tote and carry" as well-for the exercise and to be participating! ( my DS uses this word when she is yelling at her DH for not helping out with the house or chores- "you have to participate!") Nice euphemism for "get your as# in gear!

that's it for me...enjoying my solitude, enjoying dinner alone with DH, getting the house back to normal...

have a good one,
dottie

b-yogurt and an orange
l-vegetable soup and cheese and triscuits
d-meatloaf maybe with a veg... I have some coleslaw leftover

Morning Dotti,
DH took the kids to school this am and I am still in my jammies at 7:30. I have to take a shower and I am working a little later today.

Not much going on otherwise, short school week, carpet in tomorrow, and I would like to take the kids to see a movie on Friday. Looks like a warm day today, in the 50's and then the cold is coming back!

hi L, I am taking the DN to see Racing Stripes tonight. my DS and BIL are going out to dinner for his birthday. Hope you have fun as well!

Not much new... just coasting at work this week, it's nice to sit back a bit and do just the regular stuff- no audits on the horizon for a change.

eating isn't great this last few days...i had to finish the ice cream from MIL, but that is gone now, thank goodness.
b-sf yogurt, banana
l-beef barley soup
s-triscuits and cheddar
d-chicken and spinach

NO DESSERT FOR ME! Will be at the movies, so a diet coke will be my treat.

Happy Friday! Yah!

Been a crazy wet, wild week. Boys have had the week off (school district just decided to throw in a week off in February. Why? Who knows - I suspect this is why school started on the unheard of date of August 11th!) but still had baseball practice (at odd times, of course) and it has been raining on and off all week so we were never sure if practice was 'on' or 'off'. Then, to make things even more confusing, I had my hair appt. to highlight/cut my semi-long hair (4 hours) on Wednesday, Cody got his braces put on yesterday and he has an eye doc appt today! I've been dashing in work for a few hours and then dashing out again.

There is supposed to be a varsity (so only Bry, not Cody will be playing - of course, Cody will probably have practice scheduled and I will have to try to figure our how to be in two places at one time again) baseball tourney Saturday-Monday but don't know how many games they will get in between rain storms.

We are going to go see the new Keanu movie Cosintine (sp) this evening - teens go for the scary stuff!

John has had a crazy week at his house too - with house guests, his boys home from school, and being sick. Needless to say we haven't been on any dates - we met at the park for a 45 minute talk on Tuesday evening but besides phone calls that was it. Maybe it will rain all weekend, baseball will be cancelled, he will get well and we can have some fun together! I'm wishing for that!

My weight is still down the 6/7 lbs. (yippee!) but I do notice that if I get disappointed, I will want to munch on something - not a good pattern but its nice to become aware of it so I can head it off.

Happy new carpet, L! How exciting! I would love to have new carpet!

Enjoy your laidback day, Dottie, I hope to have some of those next week.

Have a good day all -

Kel

Happy friday to you too!

Carpet looks good. It always does when it is fresh. No movie today but ther is always monday. Idid get out to run a few much needed errands. We are going into town tomorrow to see the "little prince" Opera with the kids and my Aunt. I did a big no no. In the mall I thought how great it would be to get a quick wash and blow dry for tomorrow, (my hair is long and i Don't wah it everyday) anyway it was so out od shape i let her cut it! not quite what I would have gotten at my regular place but....lesson learned!

i finished all of my auction stuff this morning so I am good for the weekend.

Dottie, I hope you enjoy the movie and the diet coke..lol
kel, I hate the funky weeks with practices at odd times. Makes it hard to do anything else and when you figure out the 2 places at once, please share, I need that trick up my sleve.
Ruth I know you are posting elsewhere, but it is getting hard to share. We have really dwindlled.

Any word from Peach Pit about how she is making out after surgery?

-off to find my family and get off the computer.

"Eat the toad first!" I have a friend who always says this, she means if you have an unpleasant task this day do it first, get it out of the way. I have a major toad to eat this morning but thought I'd pop in at least once this week and say Hi!

By the way, the chicks on South Beach are not catty with each other, although we did have one person throw a hissy fit over some implied criticism! There is the usual whining and a ton of newbies so I'm pretty busy in there. I've also had a few extra MOD duties this week.

I need to go check my trapline. Did I mention I have MICE in my car! :yikes: They got into the Food Bank cereals on the weekend and tackled the dog biscuits on Wednesday. Little buggers! I think they consider my car a moveable feast. I'm hoping they are living in the barn and just getting in my car for meals. If they discover the heated seats, we are doomed!

Gotta go and tackle my toad!

lol! I can picture mice lounging in Ruthie's car with the heated seats cranked up munching on dog biscuits!

I like the toad saying, it's just that there is a whole crapload of 'toads' here so I don't know which one to start eating first.

Sorry if I misunderstood the goings-on over at SB. I guess it was your last reference to the board as the 'South *****'. You're a good Mod, Ruth, and I bet you are helping many people there.

I agree with you, L, I miss Peachie too - I haven't seen hid nor hair of her over at WLS in quite some time.

Ok - I better go get my hair dried. Let the insanity known as 'the weekend' begin! (but I am excited that I'll be having another date with Blue-eyed John today! *grinning like a 15 year old here*)

hi Ruth, kel, L...and lurkers and old friends-

I got quite a picture too,Kel- the mice laying back with their feet up on the dashboard and a bowl of kibble on their bellies like popcorn.

It's just a quiet Saturday here, the first one since MIL is gone. We're puttering around and I'm moving some furniture and shelving that got changed. I have chicken thighs out for dinner and may make DH some oatmeal cookies! It's that kind of a day.

Ooooo...date night, behave your self Kel, don't catch his cold! If you are complaining next week, we will know why! :nono:

that's it for me. Just hanging out and doing nothing!
