Good Tuesday Morning Ladies... I thought I would begin a New Thread since Sheila is so very busy these days ;)

I have wonderful news about my DF ~ he is doing well and on the mend. His infection did not get to his bone as they feared and he is now on very strong meds and is recovering. I am so relieved and so is my mother. She got really frightened at the thought that he may lose toes or even a foot. I think it frightened my father enough to keep an eye on his feet (checking them morning and night) and staying off of the wounded one. He paints and stands for hours --- now that he's retired that is his day. He has breakfast and then walks his T-Mill for 2 miles and then begins his day in his gallery. He is having a hard time resting the leg / foot because he wants to be downstairs painting and that's hard to do while sitting with your leg at least hip high. He'll need to get a special stool.

Here is a picture of one of my father's paintings:

He sells them for $300 - $700.00 depending on the size of the painting & whether or not you buy it framed. He just does it by word of mouth & a little Art Gallery sign by the front drive of their home. He takes pictures of scenes in Maine to paint or uses pictures from Calendars and such - it began by just finding something to occupy his time and now he sells one or two a month - not too bad, 'eh. Yes, I am proud of my father and of my mother. They have given me good reason to be... I am glad that he is on the mend.

I am most GRATEFUL to all of you for your thoughts and your prayers!

Nothing much going on in my corner of the world right now --- I just spent the day yesterday trying to install my new card program my parents got me for my birthday coming up (they are always early). It won't install and so now I have to call their tech support at 10:30 this morning to see if they can talk me through... bummer. I never had problems before I got this new Epson Photo Printer/Scanner. Now it interfere's with new Install's for my Hallmark Card Shop --- frustrating.

Here is a pic of me with the program my folks got me:

Joe & I had a wonderful day on Friday (1-21) together!!! Wonderful!! It was SUNNY :sunny: all day - COLD, but so clear and sunny! I could take days like that all everyday during winter. We went to the Craft Ctr. and I spent the money I got from Santa :smug: and the gift money from my parents there! But I sure had fun doing it --- we were in that store for three hours (!) - Joe spent most of the time in the candle making sections reading up on making candles (a new interest I think) - where I was in the scrapbooking and card embellishment sections. I love that store and it showed up in my bill at the end too. Then we went to lunch together and then off to Costco to spend a little there, but most of that was paper products we needed and alike. We got home at around 5ish and then began our chilling out together for the weekend with a pizza and a movie. We haven't spent a whole weekend together like that in a long time - it was so nice! I know, I know... you would think that we do spend it together all the time, but we are usually WITH someone.. it was nice just being "together".

I made a chicken dinner on Saturday (a 6 lb. bird with fruit stuffing of apples and raisins using chicken broth) that I think was absolutely wonderful, if I do say so myself ~ Joe hummmmed through it the whole time :T And then yesterday I made homemade chicken soup from the bones and the neck --- another yummy meal :T We watched 5 movies this weekend! "5" ! We haven't watched that many in a weekend in a long time... it felt nice spending time together and catching up on a snowy weekend. We saw *The Bourne Supremacy* with Matt Damon, a good action movie (a sequel to *The Bourne Identity*) & *Without a Paddle* cute, funny - Joe really liked it, I thought it was just okay & *Paparazzi* by Mel Gibson it was okay... predictable & *Hildago* A story about a man that entered endurance races in the early 1900's with his horse (Really Good! & a true story!) & *The Last Samurai* with Tom Cruise also a very good historic movie about the separation in Japan --- Traditions VS Western ways... the battle scenes were a bit hard to stomach, but a really good movie. It snowed 14" on Saturday while we were home taking in movies & watching the temps drop to 4* and winds blow. What a nice feeling knowing we didn't have to be anywhere :smug: Today we are in the 20's :smug: and climbing up toward the freezing mark - yeah.

There ya go gals! Our weekend and then some :o more then you wanted to know... I am sure :D

Angel, LOVE that new smile!!!! And NO!!!! You didn't frighten anyone away... silly gal ;) I actually have saved some of the pictures you posted earlier and think that these teeth fit you better - I didn't know that you had dentures before to pay any attention to them. You always had a beautiful smile, but now it is new and improved :D ;) Your dentist did well by you... You are a beautiful lady Charlotte :bubbles:

Diane, I do hope that you are feeling better by now. My girlfriend became ill very fast on Thursday and was ill all weekend. It is sure going around!! Feel better sweetie! :grouphug:

Sheila, Whoa... would we love to have temps in the 60's!!! I don't blame you one bit for wanting to be outdoors :) Sounds like you have been working your tail off --- I knew you would be. Just think of the weight you are working off :D :faint:

I asked earlier about "WHEN" you be moving... do you have a moving date? I found myself laughing so hard reading about your adventures with those foam coolers :lol3: Something you will not miss... getting more foam containers... I am sure! Awwwe, I sure do wish I was close enough to lend a helping hand in cleaning your DF's place --- I would be there in a flash you know :goodvibes

Bluet, I totally FORGOT about the mystery movie!!! Joe was home and we rented a movie that night... bummer
:( I totally forgot... I wonder if they are repeating it, sometimes they do. I am gonna go search the Hallmark Channel Website and see.

How are you doing?!? :?: We haven't heard from you much at all and now I am beginning to worry about your well-being. Did you fare up okay last week at work? Is the boss back yet?

Gloria, How was your weekend? Any big adventures with your brother & his wife? Hope you are having a good visit :)

Well, you gals have a great day now... stay in touch :)
Much Love,

Hi Gals! I just finished this *Getting to Know You* Survey on another thread and thought it would be fun to do here as well --- wanna give it a go?

*1 IF YOU COULD BUILD YOUR HOUSE ANYWHERE, WHERE WOULD THAT BE ~ I have always love the sound of the Ocean, but living near water hasn't been such a good thing lately :o So that being said... I think that I would live in Alice Spring, Australia... lots of animals and plenty of sunshine :) Can you tell that I have already thought this one through ;)

*2 FAVORITE ARTICLE OF CLOTHING ~ My jammies... without a doubt! Oh... and old jeans too :goodvibes

*3 LAST CD BOUGHT~ Celine Dion's Anne Gettes *Miracle* CD ~ just Beautiful :cloud9:

*4 WHAT TIME DO I WAKE UP IN THE MORNING ~ I too wake up all hours of the night - I don't sleep as soundly as I would like, but as far as wake-up times - around 5:30 every morning... even weekends.

*5 FAVORITE KITCHEN APPLIANCE ~ My New Slow Cooker that I got from Joe this Christmas :)

*6 I YOU COULD PLAY AN INSTRUMENT WHAT WOULD IT BE ~ The piano & the guitar... there's nothing like gathering around a bon fire with friends and a guitar player.

*7 WHAT IS MY FAVORITE COLOR ~ I have many favorites... Buttercup Yellow, Rose Pink, Lavender, Sky blue and Aqua Green just to start with.

*8 PREFER SUV, CAR OR TRUCK ~ I have always liked "truck-like" vehicles... Large pick-ups & SUV's... great for Australia :D

*9 DO I BELIEVE IN THE AFTERLIFE ~ Sure DO! Jesus Christ our Savior! The best *Afterlife* anyone could ever want!! To live in harmony with all people and animals alike... heaven for sure :smug: I agree with Wilma -- I also look forward to never worrying about pain or be concerned about weight again ;)

*10 FAVORITE CHILDREN'S BOOK ~ Children's book? Don't know that it is, but my favorite childhood book (which I still have with leaves all pressed in it!) is *National Geographic's Animal Wildlife*. I got it for Christmas when I was about 10 from my mother --- I have always had a love for animals.

*11 FAVORITE SEASON ~ I have always enjoyed the Spring (late Spring, to early Summer) and the Autumn, my favorite of the two being Autumn.

*12 IF I HAD A SUPERPOWER WHAT WOULD IT BE ~ It would be to bring all peoples the knowledge of Jesus Christ and His Salvation... to die knowing that I have done all I could to teach as many as I am able to of the Salvation of Jesus Christ would be an awesome honor. My heart aches with the thought that *love-ones* and *friends* will die not ever knowing Him.

*13 WHAT IS YOUR TATTOO IF YOU HAVE ONE ~ None, not a one... do freckles count?

*14 CAN YOU JUGGLE ~ Yup - Bill's! Nuff said... :o

*15 WHO WOULD I GO BACK AND TALK TO IN THE PAST ~ I have two... First, it would be the daughter I never knew, whom I carried for 9 months and never got to see her or to know her - what a honor it would be to have that opportunity. Second, I would go back and spend more time with my mom's mother - my grandmother... I miss her very much! And often feel that I never hugged her or chatted with her enough...

*16 FAVORITE DAY ~ I love Sunday's & Vacation Day's with Joe!

Oh, I love Pooh! Thanks for starting a new thread, SunnyD.

I'm so glad that your Dad is going okay! I bet everyone in your family breathed a sigh of relief. I know I did. :) What does he have to do to prevent another problem like that? That painting is absolutely beautiful. I see where you get your creative talent.

Hey, if you would have purchased an HP printer, you wouldn't be having any of those problems, I'm sure. Okay, I'm biased since DH works for HP. Keep us in food--buy HP! We had a Hallmark card program and really loved it. My DD borrowed it one time and I haven't seen it since. We got another knock-off program, and haven't installed it yet. Guess I don't make as many cards as I used to. Sounds like you had a wonderful Friday, and the chicken dinner on Saturday is making my mouth water. But the snow, oh, the snow! You guys are really getting hit hard. Snow definitely has some redeeming qualities, however, if you get to stay inside and snuggle with your sweetie, and not feel guilty watching movies all day. Throw a little popcorn and some hot chocolate with peppermint schnapps, and I'd be set.

So I was going to hire someone to just clean my floors and wash the windows, but she gave us a flat rate for cleaning the whole house that I just couldn't refuse. All this moving and work has really increased my pain so I'm going to be lazy and let her do everything. I did touch up paint work today (after cleaning windows all morning, which she'll do again on Monday--the cats will have gotten to them by then anyway), which was strenuous enough, along with caulking and pruning. Also got a quote on replacing two windows (eek--the cost!), and am getting another two tomorrow plus having the handyman come by with an estimate on doing some stuff.

Where is everybody? Hope you're all healthy and happy!

I'll give this thing a shot, SunnyD:

1. In a village near the ocean with mountains nearby and a river yet close enough to an urban area with museums, shops, etc. In the Pacific Northwest

2. An old sweatshirt that's way too big.

3. Chris Botti (gift for my DH)--he's a jazz trumpet player

4. I seem to wake up a lot from 3:00 am on, but I don't get up until 7:30 am.

5. George Foreman Grill

6. Piano

7. blue-green

8. car, preferably electric, but bigger than most electric cars because my DH is 6'3" and my son is 6'5"

9. Yes.

10. Stuff by Judy Blume. I loved reading the Berenstain Bears books to my kids.

11. spring and autumn for me, too.

12. To make people get along and not kill or hurt each other

13. No, never have, never will

14. Nope

15. I would like to meet my grandfathers if only to ask what the heck was wrong with them

16. Friday

17. my car trunk contains bags of stuff for the Goodwill, and an Omaha Steak box (naturally!)

18. I detest sushi, and never eat hamburgers anymore, but if I had to eat one or the other, it would be a hamburger

19. 1970s

20. Christmas, although Easter was a close second when we lived in Oregon

21. my friend Neoma

22. iris

23. Oh, there are so many! I guess it would be this chicken dish from Cooking Light (can't remember the name), garlic mashed potatoes, fresh green beans, artichokes, lemon meringue pie followed by, but not with, a scoop of chocolate peanut butter ice cream.

01-26-2005, 11:05 AM

Good morning, friends.
SunnyD...beautiful pics! Thanks for the compliments. I suppose you all think I'm silly carrying on about my dentures. My teeth were always so ugly & crooked, when I was growing up. When I had pictures made, I smiled with my mouth closed. It was a problem that haunted me through my dating years pretty bad. So, when I finally got up the nerve, around 15 yrs ago to go to Same Day Dentures & have all my uppers pulled & get my new teeth, I was so thrilled! I went with a friend, & we stayed in a motel that night, because I had to go back the next morning to get stitches removed. We laughed & had fun & I kept staring in the mirror at my new "self"! Now, I love to smile, & show my teeth! :D
I'm so glad your DF is doing well. I've been praying for him. That's something diabetics have to continually worry about. DH's mom has it, & my step-dad had a lot of trouble with his feet, before he passed away. It didn't have anything to do with his passing though, other than being a diabetic did go against him.
Oh Sunny...hope you don't have as many problems with your Epson printer as a friend of mine. :o I keep having to go to their house & help them get it to going. I agree with Sheila....can't beat HP! ;) Are you sure it's compatible with your computer? It might work for simple printing, only.

Hi Sheila....bless your heart....I'll be so glad when you're settled & enjoying your new home. You need to take a good, long rest when all is done. I'm glad you hired someone to do the cleaning for you. How is your DF doing? Hope he's not giving you any grief. I'm praying he will be sooooo happy & content!

Ok...gonna try the Survey:

1.Where I'd build a house: Right here where we're at! :D We like it better than anywhere we've been, or can think of. Just would like to get it built!

2.Favorite article of clothing:Pajamas! I get into them every evening when I get home! When I went to Texas with Connie this summer, she said I had more pajamas than anyone she'd ever seen! Well...I wear them a lot, so I want to look cute in them when DH comes home! ;)

3.Last CD bought:I've never bought a CD. I have to buy so many soundtracks to sing by....& my Protege I practice with doesn't have a CD player on it.

4.What time do I wake up:There's lots of nights I don't even go to bed, or wake up at 2 or 3, so I don't have to wake up. But, if I happen to sleep, the normal time is 6:30am.

5.Favorite kitchen appliance:My large toaster oven. (If I just HAVE to cook!! :( )

6.Instrument:Piano. I can cord just fairly. I would love to be able to play it correctly. I have an electric Suzuki that just sits & wonders if it's ever going to be played. :?:

7.Favorite color:Royal Blue

8.Prefer SUV, car, or truck:Car...mostly because it's hard for me to get in or out of anything else.

9.Do I believe in the After Life:Of course....I have a beautiful "Vision of Heaven"!

10.Favorite children's book:Cinderella....I'm a romantic. ;)

11.Favorite season:Spring.

12.If I had a superpower:You both had great answers, & I agree. My next answer would be to take away all pain & suffering of the sick.

13. Do I have tattoos:Not unless surgical SCARS count! :^:

14.Can you juggle:Nope! I can't even seem to juggle the bills, SunnyD! :dizzy:

15.Who would I go back & talk to in the past:My 2 grandfathers that I never knew. Most of all, my dad. I miss him soooooo much.

16.Favorite Day:Saturday.

17.What is in the trunk of my car:A picture frame.

18.Sushi or Hamburer:Cheeseburger!

19.Favorite era of time:70's.

20.Favorite holidays:Mother's Day & Father's Day. I like giving our parents extra attention. I also enjoy getting a little extra attention from my kids. ;)

21.Favorite person in my life:I tried my best to think of just one, but, couldn't. So, I'll say the favorite person in my life has to be my Lord & Savior!

22.Favorite flower:Buttercup. DH has always brought me bouquets that he picks. When we were dating, he started the tradition. He'd stop the car, & run out into the field to gather buttercups for me to have, until our next date. Now, when they start blooming, he keeps me fresh bouquets until they've gone away. My next soundtrack has a pic of me holding buttercups! :D

23.My favorite meal:There's a restaurant we go to every Sunday, after church...O'Bryan's Steakhouse. I love their salad bar (which is what I usually get.) But, their steak & potatoes, or steamed veggies are delicious! Everything they have is good! Why did you do this to me??? Now....I'm hungry!! :o

I enjoyed reading the others, hope everyone does it! Hi to everyone!!

01-26-2005, 12:56 PM

Hi Sheila & Angel,

:cp: I DID IT!!!! :cp:

I got the Hallmark Card Studio to Install!! I called the Hallmark number in their booklet and the tech there talked me through a <back door> into the Install :D I am so happy and the Card Studio does more then the past ones I have gotten --- Ladies I have 8 Hallmark Card Studio Programs! :smug: And I enjoy them all!

I loved reading your survey's... thanks for taking the time to fill them out :) I am printing them up to save ;) In one of my answers I used *Wilma's* name --- she's from the other thread I go to and I forgot to remove it, I just did a copy and paste - hope it didn't bother you gals :o :dizzy:

Hi Sheila, Ohhh I have lots of POOH I can use ;)

Thank~you so much for the compliment about me and my families talents... there is allot of talent in my family. You should see some of the paintings my brother has done. But he is so messed up on drugs that he has dropped all of that - my heart feels so sad for him when I think of him & all he has let go of because of those drugs :( (too long of a story to tell right now). Such a waste!!! My baby brother sings and plays the piano beautifully! And also is into wood-working. My sister loves to sew and I have gotten into crafts of all kinds - mostly making cards for family and friends.

My dad is to check his feet twice a day... morning & evening and he is to rest every hour bringing his legs above his hips and he doesn't do it! It isn't easy especially when you are involved in something and don't want to stop (I do the same thing - get it from HIM!). But he has to! My mom is a retired nurse and tests his blood sugar everyday, so he fine there - he just has to care for his feet better. The reason being the blood flow is further from the heart there and it's usually the first place to have problems.

I think you were very wise in hiring someone to clean the whole place. To be honest with you I think if I had to move today I would to the same thing!! It is totally worth the $$!! Good for you!

As for the Photo Printer - I DO agree with you HP is the best!! But my Joe bought this for me as a Christmas Gift and I didn't want to discourage him by not giving this one a try. Everything else I have is HP --- don't know why he bought me an EPSON. Well, I do know that EPSON was putting out allot of good prices just before Christmas, that may have grabbed his eye a the time. It's all working now :) Yeahhhhh! :)

Angel, I could totally understand your feelings now that you shared with us about your smile... too bad you had to go and have them all pulled when now they do veneers! You did what you knew at the time and it looks great on you now ;) And I don't think you are being silly at all --- that is just an expression I use sometimes :grouphug:

Thank~you so much for keeping my DF in your *prayers*, Angel, I was so concerned about him! My mom wrote to me yesterday and told me that he has really improved and is even back to telling jokes again and being his devilish  self :) Your pryers were heard! Again, I thank you so much...

I Love your graphic!!!! I saved it too :D It's so adorable with the kitty and mice

Hello Bonnie, Where are you?????!!!!!????? :?: I so miss you not being around lately and am beginning to worry :sorry: about you!!! Please stop in soon! :grouphug:

Hi Diane, is everyone getting all better now??? You doing okay... miss hearing frm you too!

Hi Gloria! Hope you are having a good visit with your family...

Gotta be going --- wanna go play with my new Card Program :D

*God Bless*

Have you gals heard about Johnny Carson's death? I have been watching all the specials they have been running about him and the shows. They are saying that the sales of the DvD's of his shows have rocketed to #1 in sales since his death. I remember seeing them at the wholesale club when I was Christmas shopping... his shows were funny. I taped Jay Leno's show the other night - it was a good show honoring Carson.

He'll be missed :(
an ERA to never be seen again

01-26-2005, 07:22 PM
Hello strangers, I have been absent so long and sure have missed all of you. We have all been so sick around here this last week but am feeling much better and regaining some strength again. We went and bought groceries this morning first time I have been out in a week and it sure felt good to get out of this house. Now I have to get busy tomorrow and get some cleaning done, I have just let things go.

Sunny so glad to hear DF is doing better, I know what a relief it is for you. His painting is beautiful, such a talent. It sounds like you and Hubby had some memorable times this last week end. Wasn't it nice to just relax and watch it snow?

Hi Sheila glad you got someone to clean for you, that is such hard work.

Candlelady, so happy to see you back! I'm glad you're feeling much better, and are able to get out and about a bit. Don't overdo with the cleaning or you may end up back in bed! My Dad won prizes for his roses, Candlelady. He had hundreds in the backyard. In its heydey, his backyard rose garden was the talk of the neighborhood, and he used to drop by with roses for neighbors.

Charlotte, you weren't carrying on about your dentures at all. Having a beautiful smile is something to be proud of, especially if you had problems with your teeth when you were younger. Smiles make people feel good. I sure wish my teeth were whiter. One of these days I'm going to bleach my teeth. Do you ever watch Extreme Makeover? Those people look 100% different after they've gotten their teeth fixed, and they're always so happy. What a sweet DH you have, Charlotte! I love the buttercup story.

I'm enjoying the surveys, too, SunnyD. Thanks for posting that. I hope 5 Dogs and Bluet come back soon and answer, too. I'm glad you got your card program working. And it's good to know that you buy HP products. :) That's sad about your brother. A talent wasted is always sad. I hope this scare has helped your Dad see that he needs to do what the doctor says. If he's like most people, he'll do it for a while, but then forget. My DH only does his back exercises when his back is hurting, instead of doing them all the time so that his back won't hurt.

Today I signed the paperwork to sell my ancestral home. Okay, it's only been in the family since 1957, but my family is the only one that ever lived here. After signing, I got a little bit misty, which surprised me. The realtor decided to have the broker's open house on February 1 so I had to change my dog's dental appointment so that he's gone all day that day. He barks insanely when we have visitors. The cats have to go to a kennel for the first week, which is when most of the prospective buyers look at the place. It's easier for me to put the dog in a travel crate and stick him in the back of the car when we leave while someone is looking at the house. He likes to go for rides, unlike the cats who run at the sight of the cages.

Did I mention that the camellias are in bloom here? So are some of the flowering cherries and the heather is in bloom, too. All my bulbs are about two inches out of the ground already. If the house sells, I won't see them, but I'm looking forward to planting more in my new home. Thinking about it, I've left tons of flowers every place I've lived since our first home. In Colorado I used to buy expensive test iris (my favorite flower), and I would have dug them up when we moved, but it was January and the ground was frozen solid.

I'm weighing in tomorrow because I want to go to a water aerobics class on Friday, my usual weigh-in day. My pants feel looser so hopefully the scale will go down. We have a funeral to attend (my BIL) on Saturday, which is our normal water aerobics day.

Here's hoping everyone has a great Thursday!

01-27-2005, 12:10 AM
Good Evening,

It looks like you have all been very busy here at FatChicks. :) I have been overwehlmed at work, I finally started to see some light at the end of the tunnel near the end of today. When I would get home from work, I was just too tired to do much of anything, but eat supper and watch a little TV and go to bed.

Sheila, is it normal for all of those flowers to be so far along in January. What will happen if you have a cold spell? All our stuff is frozen under several feet of snow. All of our computers and printers are HP's, except our fax machine is a Cannon. As I have said before HP is an excellent product. DH repairs HP and Cannon for a living.

Sunny, I love Pooh too. Always have, it is not beneath me to watch a Winnie The Pooh video from time to time with the grandkids. Pooh just makes me feel good. Please forgive me ladies, if I don't do the survey, I don't have the energy for it right now. :( Sorry.

Charlotte, you are looking lovely as always. One of these days your house is going to be all done. Hang in there.

Diane, happy to hear you are feeling better. Sheila is right "don't over do."

Take care ladies and have a good Thursday.

01-27-2005, 05:27 PM

Bluet, it's so good to see you :smug: I am so sorry that you are not feeling like yourself these days, I will keep you in my *prayers* that you feel better real soon! All you need is a good dose of SUNSHINE!! It has made all the difference in the world to me and my boys today :D It's suppose to be sunny like this for a couple day - cold, but sunny... I'll take it! :flow1: Would you like me to send a some your way? :flow1:

You should see all the *Winnie the Pooh* VHS tapes I have :^: I think it's soooo cool that you watch them too :smug: I love  Pooh! There's a new movie out too --- I think it's called *Whose Heffalump* looks cute :)

I do hope that you will take the survey later on in the weekend, Bonnie... I printed the ones here to keep :) I'd love to add yours too ;)

Hi Sheila, Yes, it is sad about my brother - I think of him all the time and pray even more. He has had allot to overcome in life, but I wish that he knew that he isn't alone. I have written him so many times to let him know I am here --- he doesn't have a phone :( When he's ready, he knows I am here.

Are you going to take any of those rose bushes with you when you make the move? That would be so hard for me to leave behind. Although, it will add to the sale of your home. What is the year of your home?? So you have been there since 1957! You have been there as long as I am old :D did you realize that? I could totally understand you getting misty - I would be crying my eyes out too. Change is good, but not always easy. Did you know that this is the best time of year for selling a home? I hope it doesn't take long for you... with those gardens you should have no problems.

How did your weigh-in go?? Bet you did well!

 Hello's to Charlotte, Diane & Gloria! Come and post soon --- I don't like it when it gets too quiet here :twirly:

Guess what I spent the day doing today ladies? Believe it or not --- (drum roll, please  ) I have finally taken down all our Christmas decorations :D We enjoyed the lights and decorations so much during this gloomy winter weather neither of us wanted them down. But today for some reason - maybe the sunshine - I decided it was time to take them down. I haven't gotten them all put away yet, will finish that tomorrow. It's nice to have everything back to normal again.

Have a good one gals!! :flow1:

Sunny, thank you for praying and worrying over me. I'll be fine I promise.
I love Pooh!!!!! I knew you were up to something, you were being way to quite. ;)

Girls, I am not going to be home this evening. We have an Appreciation Banquet for Dh's work place. We have to travel and I know we will get back late. Therefore, I will be too tired to post.

See you on Friday....There is this new show on on Friday called Numbers with Rob Morrow, I always liked him on Northern Exposure. I don't know if it cuts into Hallmark MM or not, will have to check. More Mystery Stuff.

Have a good evening.

01-27-2005, 10:17 PM
Hey, Bluet, good to see you back. Dang that work cutting into your online time! So is DH getting appreciated and, more importantly, what did you get to eat? :D I think Numbers looks interesting, too. I still haven't watched the last mystery I taped. Now that packing stuff has calmed down, I think I'll do that. Tomorrow I'll let you know how gory (or not) CSI was, assuming it's a new one. Not sure what's going to happen if we get a cold spell, although a cold spell around here would be in the 30s.

SunnyD, over the weekend I was wondering whether you had taken down the Christmas decorations, but I forgot to ask. I noticed that there are still people in my 'hood with outside Christmas lights still up and turned on. Actually, it's kind of nice. Are the boys going to miss them? Well, about the roses, I dug all but a couple out when we moved in. They were just too hard to take care of, and I found most of them good homes with people from the rose society my Dad formed many years ago. He hasn't been active in years, but I put an ad in their newsletter and got calls from people. I gave some to my cousin, too, and she has been winning prizes at the county fair with them.

Well, the weigh-in was a bust. Only 1/4 lb. lost. It's strange, though, because the leader (who didn't weigh me) happened to mention that she lost 3 lbs. last week, then had a great week, but only lost 1/4 lb. this week. She said that she's learned that it's the body leveling things out. Hopefully I'll have a better loss next week. The funny thing is that my pants seem a lot looser than they did last week.

After weigh-in, I went to see my Dad and dropped off his mail. It's still not being forwarded. He'd lost all his doctor's appointment cards so I told him that I would call all his doctors and get his appointments straightened out. I was happy to do that because he'd been putting off making an eye doctor appt. so I made it for him. The area around his eyes is swollen and red, and his eyes weep a lot. He's also got cataracts. When I left, he said, "Thanks for stopping by, Steph." Steph is my sister. I was really quite bummed when he said that. I think it's because I no longer see him every day, although my sister has only seen him twice since 1996 so I don't know why her name came up.

5 Dogs, hope you're having loads of fun! Candlelady, you better not have had a relapse. And, Charlotte, hope you're doing okay. Have a great Friday, everyone!

01-28-2005, 06:44 AM

Good Morning gals...
There was nothing on TV last night, bummer --- usually Thursday nights are my fav. but just about everything was in repeats :( I watched a little bit of that wedding show, but it didn't keep my interest. I did enjoy *ER* last night - always a good show - intense! I have not seen that new show you all mentioned *Numbers*. My sister told me about it too, but haven't watched... it's gotten to where I have so many unwatched taped shows and no time to sit and watch them :dizzy:

Sheila, I am sorry that the scale didn't show more weight-loss, but I bet that the next visit YOU WILL see some loss. The body is so complex --- I bet you are holding water from being so tired. Your next visit will be a better one - if you feel as if you have lost I bet you have! Just hang in there!! :df:

I bet your DF is just acting normal for having the health issues he has, Sheila. What the mind does is difficult to grasp sometimes. It has to be so hard to accept when they don't remember who you are... I am :sorry: sorry. You are a good daughter :bubbles: without a doubt! Good to hear that you got all his appointments made for him, now he can have his eyes examined.

Speaking of eyes... I have to make an appointment for Joe & I too. We both feel that our eyes are changing - what a pain!

As for my decorations ~ you know what I did?! :o I got everything taken down and thought I got it all... walked all through the house and felt all proud of myself for not forgetting anything this time and then my hubby comes home last night and tells me that the front door is still decorated  Woops  Guess I'll take that down today... no biggie, I haven't put anything away yet, it's all stacked in the spare-room right now. I want to go get some new bins to store everything in. We still have all the outside stuff up, but haven't turned them on since the 15th of Jan. It's just too snowy and cold out to fuss with taking it all down right now - haveta wait for some warmer temps or I'll have a popcycle-hubby :D

Yep!!! I think that the boys will miss the TREE! They always slept under it by the heater, especially our little Domino!! He was all over me yesterday as I took it all down - rubbing all over my legs as if to say "I am beggin' you not to take my tree away" I feel so bad, but I cannot have a tree up all year just for my kitties --- what would the neighbors think  ;)

*Have a GREAT FRIDAY Gals!*
Where is everyone!?!?
*God Bless*

01-28-2005, 01:18 PM

Good Friday morning friends,

I'm sorry I've gotten so far behind. I've been doing research on my test results. Just hope it isn't what I found......not happy with it. I go to getting nervous & doing research before a visit with a specialist.

I HAVE read all the posts! your appointment to see how your eyes have progressed with the problem you had with them? Wish you luck, girl.
Well, I know someone who is later than you with Christmas decorations! The meteorologist at the TV station & his wife! They have a very large, artificial tree, all decorated. They never take it down.....just move it to a back room until the next Christmas! You know, I don't think I would have told anyone that, if I was them. :D Glad you're having fun with your new program.

Sheila...hey, 1/4 lb is that much off! Besides, it sounds like you lost in inches! I know it's good to see the numbers go down, but it's also good to see the clothes loosen up. Speaking of loose clothes.......I don't think mine has loosened any this week. :^:

Hi Bluet....still got snow? We're going to get a lot of rain this weekend. They talked about ice, but doubt if that's going to happen. It's warmed up a little. Stop working so hard!
Thanks for the encouragement on the house. I know it will happen one day. ;)

Hello candlelady...My friend, Connie, & I went to Dallas & another place past there, almost in Oklahoma. Connie was invited to sing at a couple of places, & I tagged along....took pics, interviews, etc. We had lots of fun. My DH has an aunt that lives in Telephone Texas. Do you know where that's at?

Hi to everyone....gotta go to work. Have a great day!

01-28-2005, 03:18 PM
Hi Gals,

I was just checking out what happened to Gloria / 5dogs since she hasn't been back (I get concerned) and I found that she joined another thread - just wanted you all to know so you wouldn't worry ;) I just can't help but search people out if they are missing long... just to be sure they are okay. I wonder why people just drop out? Aren't we nice enough? :^: I belong to other threads too, but I just don't leave... That's okay... I won't just leave - you are stuck with me :D I think you gals are the best!

Hi Agnel, You gotta be careful with that researching, you may get overwhelmed with the info offered. I hope you don't have to worry about anything you found on the net. How are you today?

Yes, it will be a follow-up from my last eye appointment & an overall check of my vision... but I'm not concerned, it didn't grow at all my last check-up 7 months ago. Joe is due for an exam too...

Too funny about the TV station couple leaving up their tree all year --- can't say that I blame them though. If I had a big house to store things in I just may have done the same thing! :smug:

I took a picture of my humble Angel shelf... I was dusting and thought - Charlotte would like to see these ;) Hope you like...

*Hope that everyone else is having a good day!*
Love you gals!

01-28-2005, 11:07 PM
A good Friday to everyone!

SunnyD, I was disappointed to see that CSI was an old one (another maggot extravaganza). Tonight's the new mystery on Hallmark--gotta tape it again. Ah, the poor kitties! We took our cats' favorite place away, too, but the box lid we left on the floor seems to be a hit. One of my cats must be feeling a bit unsettled by all the packing and cleaning. Yesterday he was bugging my DH all day to sit in his lap. Usually he sits in my DH's lap after dinner, but he was almost frantic to get in his lap. Needs to feel a bit more secure, I think. Look at all those angels--how cool! Oh, and I think we're a great group of people! :D

Charlotte, that's pretty funny about the people at work and their Christmas tree. Wonder how often they have to dust it, though?? My DH has always wanted two dishwashers--one for the clean dishes and one for the dirty dishes. Would save on cupboard space. :) So when is your appointment? How is your thumb doing? Telephone, Texas? Would love to know the story behind that one!

Today we had our fireplace painted. It looks great--should have had it done a long time ago. Also had the door painted on our master bathroom (it's only a 1/2 bath). We'd taken it off when we moved in because we had two dressers that wouldn't fit if the door was on. My DH had put it in the storage area and put stuff on top of it, and it got pretty beaten up. We also took some food to the food bank, and they were really grateful. I guess donations are down this time of year. I was a little astonished because the stuff we gave them was kind of weird (like pepper jelly, hot sauce, Sudden Salad, risotto), except for the Campbell's soup.

My son just sent me an e-mail, and he made the Dean's List last semester. He works full time, goes to school full time, and has joint custody of his daughter so making the Dean's List is even more impressive. We're really proud of him.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend! Bluet, have a relaxing weekend, okay?

01-30-2005, 11:21 PM
Did everyone have a good weekend? Guess what I did? You guessed it--it involved packing and cleaning. Well, I also attended a memorial service and did some shopping, too.

The memorial service made me realize how much I didn't know my BIL and how much I don't know my sister. Do you guys think it would be weird if I wrote to her when I move? I'm thinking about going to visit her before we leave. I don't like the fact that she's family and I don't really know her. She had two of her four siblings from her Mom's side there (she grew up with them), and I remembered their names from when I was little. I had a really good time talking to her only brother. In fact, I feel I know more about him than I do about her. I learned a lot about my BIL at the service. Just wish it had come earlier. :(

We bought some flowers to plant in pots to spruce up the front of the house. Tomorrow I'll buy some fresh flowers for the inside. The broker's open house is Tuesday. We're going to be eating microwave meals from now until the house sells or until we move, whichever comes first. I don't want to have to keep cleaning the kitchen. We decided today that we're going to move over the three-day weekend. I don't want my DH to have to take vacation because we're saving vacation for next year's trip to Hawaii and, hopefully, Alaska.

Hope you all have a great Monday (if that's possible)! Will you kill me if I tell you that I have crocus blooming?

02-01-2005, 09:05 AM

Good morning, friends.

Hope all are having a good week. I'm just not feeling well, these days. For one thing, my Remicade appt got messed up & I'm having to go 2 wks overdue.....not good. I'm waiting for Monday. (7th) My neck & shoulders are hurting a lot & my thumb is in a mess, again, from circulation being cut off. I can't turn my head much...not just from pain, but just won't turn! Going to get that cervical collar today I was told to wear. Maybe it'll help. In my researching, I found Cervical Radiculopathy with RA is very complicated & dangerous. Also, it'll keep happening. I DON'T think I like the future. Sorry for whining....maybe, after Monday, I'll feel better about everything.

Sheila...I think it would be a good thing for you to write your sister. The hardest, & loneliest times are coming up for her. Any contacts will help her, I'm sure. Try not to look back on the past....just what can be done for the future. If it's something you want to do, then, I'd say to go by your feelings. They're usually right.
I wish I was good with plants. I know you're going to have your new place looking beautiful. We want pics!
Congratulations on your son making the Dean's list! That IS something to be proud of. Especially with all he's doing.

SunnyD...That was a beautiful picture of your angel shelf. Thank you...I really enjoyed it. I also liked the picture your dad painted. How is he doing now? How did you & Joe do at the eye appt?
I'm sorry about your brother. I've/we've been in that situation with our son. Until he's ready for help, there's little you can do, but what you already are doing. Maybe, someday, you'll get a call, as we did, & he'll be ready for help.
I don't like the fact that our son got divorced, of course....but, he's been drug free for a year (next month) & has gained weight & works out at the gym. He has joint custody of his two little girls. He's still living us, so we have all of them every other week. Everyone seems happier, even the girls.

Bonnie...Did you enjoy your trip? I do hope you're feeling better, now. Hugs & prayers going your way! Are you still keeping grands on the weekends? You must be a wonderful grandmother.

Candlelady...Hope all is well with you.

Hello & hugs to everyone. I just's 7am, & I'm still up alone! Better get off of here & wake up my 2 work men, & two school girls!

02-02-2005, 12:13 AM
Hello, ladies!

Where are you all? I refuse to let anyone else leave so you all just better get back here. :)

This morning I typed a post while sitting at a Starbucks down on Alki Beach, looking at the beautiful blue Sound under a hazy blue sky, with the cityscape in the background. Quite lovely. But I lost the darn post. I'm using a laptop (right now I'm typing this while lying on my bed) and I'm not that experienced with the keys. We had to be out of our house from 8:30 to 2:00 so we were gone most of the day.

Tonight we had to leave about 5:30 pm because our realtor was showing the house. The wife wanted to make an offer tonight, but the husband wanted to see it during the day, which I think is reasonable. We must have had 75 realtors leave their cards during the broker's open house. Not much inventory, I guess. So we'll see what happens tomorrow.

When I went to give my Dad his mail, he asked if we were leaving soon. I asked if he was trying to get rid of us, and he said he thought we wanted to get rid of me. I mentioned something about him not wanting to come with us, and he said, "You never asked." So I asked, and it turns out if we could find an assisted living place in Corvallis, he'd move. I couldn't believe it. I asked him three times if he was serious. That would solve everything if he'd move. I'm so excited! Cross your fingers he remembers our discussion!

Charlotte, I'm so sorry about all the pain you're experiencing. I wish you didn't have to endure a single moment of this. It must be awfully scary to read all that stuff on the internet. Hopefully you're checking out the best case scenarios, too! I'm glad that you have your faith to see you through these hard times. And you have us to help you through, too. Know that I'm praying hard for you.

Well, I'm exhausted. Keeping the house clean, and being unable to lie down during the day has taken it's toll. We have to be out of here by 7:20 am tomorrow. Have a good Wednesday and think sunny thoughts. Spring is almost here (actually it's pretty much here where I live)!

02-02-2005, 12:29 AM
Good Evening Ladies,

I haven't been here since last Thursday, shame on me. :-( Really having a problem shaking the gloomies. Sorry, girls and thank you for your patience with me.

DH's company is in Appleton about an hours drive from here, but he works the Lakeshore area where we live. The country club where the banquet was held was beautiful, the food was excellent. I turned down a good white or red wine and dessert. Dessert was a chocolate swirl on a dessert plate with a chocolate mousse in a flaky pie crust with whipped cream placed on top. The main course was salmon and a small piece of beef that was absolutely delicious, green beans and a rice dish that had cherries in it. I can't tell you the last time I had such a good tasting meal. DH did not take any accolades this year (which by the way is just fine with him, he says) (he is rather shy when it comes to special attention). He was happy to see his friends and co-workers take honors. We had a nice time and we were home by 11:30 p.m. but for some reason I did not go to bed until 1:00 a.m. I couldn't believe I did that, especially since I had to work the next day.

Well, Sheila the move seems to be going along quite smoothly. Good for you !! and good for you for calling in extra help :) If I were you Shiela, I would spend some time getting to know your sister more. Life is so short and, if I could do things over Shiela, one of the things I would make sure I did better is to get along with my siblings and DH's siblings better than when I was younger. I don't know why we wait until we are so old to discover how much we need one another. Well, we aren't soooo old, but I think you know what I mean. There you go again talking about that darn cat wanting to sit on your DH's lap, well you know what I told you last time. :) How wonderful for your son and how proud you must be for your son making the Dean's list.

Charlotte, I am so sorry that you don't feel well. I just wish there was some way we could fix this for you. I pray for you a lot Charlotte. I try to be a good grandmother Charlotte, but I get tired easier than I used to. They think we can just keep up at their pace all the time, bless their hearts. Did that ice storm have much impact on Alabama Charlotte? Ice storms are the worse, even worse than snow storms. Most of our snow has melted again, the temps have been in the mid 30 range so far this week. I think we are experiencing our January thaw in February. We are going to get too spoiled with the mild temps and then all of a sudden it will get cold again.

Sunny, we don't talk diet and have little plans for weight loss, and motivators for excercise, and things like that, I think that is what Gloria was looking for. We are good people, just not as exciting as some other forums. I hope Gloria is really happy at her new thread. We are good supportive friends though and that is what is important to me. I did watch the Mystery Movie Friday night and it was pretty good. It is on at the same time as Numbers, so I didn't get to watch Numbers. I missed watching Idol tonight. I went after work to get a hair cut and then did a little shopping and got home too late to see more than just the very end. Don't tell Sheila and Charlotte shhhhh, but I don't undecorate my two little trees every year either, I just put them in the storage room until the following Christmas. The only time I undecorate them is if I change their theme. :-) Bet you never thought you would get a confession like that out of me huh? Now that Charlotte and I are back, we are wondering "where is Sunny?" oh where oh where can she be?

Diane, hope you and family are feeling better, and that we hear from you soon.

P.S. Sheila, yes I probably would kill you if you told us the crocus are blooming, but then on the other hand I like you way too much to cause you any harm. But, can you imagine how long it will be before a crocus blooms in Wisconsin this spring. :(

Have a good Wednesday everyone, half the week is almost over again.

02-02-2005, 10:49 PM
Hi, all!

Do you think you have SAD because of all the winter weather, Bluet? Do you take vitamin D? It's supposed to help with that, along with special lights. We sent my cousin one of those lights because her therapist recommended it. You are so incredibly commited to no sugar or booze--you're my hero! I really need to require more of myself and just say no. You are one party animal, Bluet. On a work night, no less.

Aha! Now we all know Bluet's dirty little secret. Maybe we should have a true confessions day. Let's see, well, sometimes I brush my teeth while going to the bathroom. I believe in multi-tasking, you know. :) Okay, so I won't mention the crocus or any of the other lovely flowers starting to bloom here in the 60 degree weather under blue skies. Don't worry, though, we're going to get our share of rain and gloomy days soon enough.

Well, on the market yesterday and sold today. We accepted a full-price offer on the house this afternoon. And I asked my Dad today if he was really serious because I got on the phone and talked with facilities in Corvallis. He said semi-serious so I said either you're serious or you're not. He said serious (as long as the price is right, of course!) so I'm going to look at places while I'm there this weekend.

I've caught the Thursday bug from you, Bluet. I kept thinking, oh, boy, CSI is on tonight and ER, but then I remember it's only Wednesday.

Hope everyone (where is everyone?) has a wonderful Thursday!

02-03-2005, 09:53 AM
Hi Gals,

Just a quick note right now to let you know that all is just fine with me --- I just have allot to get done by the end of this week and by the time I have a moment at night I am so tired I cannot focus :dizzy:

Thanks Bluet for checking up on me ;)

Sheila, how do you do it???? Packing up a house and still have time to post? I give you allot of credit! :smug:

Angel, I knew you would like to see my humble collection ;)

Diane, we miss you! :(

I will post more the first chance I get, okay.

Love you gals!!

02-03-2005, 09:25 PM

Glad you're doing okay, SunnyD. What's going on with you this week? I'll have to go back and see if I missed something. Writing is relaxing for me. I used to work as a writer (ha--you wouldn't know it with all my typos and bad grammar!), and I wrote for newspapers, brochures, and stuff like that, so writing is an outlet for me.

Charlotte, I meant to add that I'm happy your son is doing so well. I bet you and your DH are very proud of him. Does he have plans to get his own place soon? That would probably be a mixed blessing. Nice to get your place back to yourselves, yet I bet it's fun having the girls every other week.

So we were home today when my DH spotted a woman in the backyard wandering around. Then she walked through the side yard and met what we assume was her husband in the front yard. We're pretty sure it was the parents of one of the homebuyers (the wife is Korean, and the couple in our yard were older Koreans). We were a bit creeped out by the whole thing and called our realtor. If they would like to stop by, they can call first, or wait until we're not here or something. But to just wander around, looking in our windows, well, it was a bit much. When I lived in Boise, our crazy neighbor almost didn't sell her house because the buyers drove by her house slowly the day before closing. The crazy neighbor was livid, and almost called off the sale. Can you imagine if the buyers' relatives wandered around her yard? She would have called the police or worse.

Yeah, Thursday! Don't fall asleep early tonight, SunnyD. :) Have a great Friday, everyone!

02-04-2005, 12:15 AM
Good Evening,

Sheila how cool that Dad is going to move to Covallis too. He needs to have you near by as much as you need to have him near by. At least for your sanity's sake. Hey Sheila when you move to Corvallis are your taking us with you too? I certainly hope so. ;) Goodness your house sold really fast, houses stay on the market a long time around here. You couldn't resist, could you? You had to be smucky about your wonderful blue sky and your lovely spring flowers all in bloom and your 60 degree temps didn't you? Well, that's ok, because I am not one bit jealous, I simply love our cloudy days and our 30 degree temps and our dirty snow piles, just couldn't live without them. I had to miss the beginning of CSI tonight and the end. So I don't know why the ladies were buried in tar and how they were found in the first place, and I didn't find out who dunnit either. I was kinda hoping the husband was the quilty one. He came off as a real sleeze. I am concerned for Jorja Fox, did she get fired or not tonight? I really should get a sun box. They aren't as expensive as they used to be when they first came on the market. I take vitamins, but perhaps I dont take enough of vitamin D.

Charlotte, tomorrows your station day, hope you feel well enough to go. :)
Have a good weekend.

Sunny whatever you are doing, don't work too hard. Take time to smell the roses babe. I am not telling you anymore secrets, Sheila and Charlotte listen in. ;)

02-04-2005, 10:56 AM

Yes,'s FRIDAY!! I think of you every weekend, knowing you're finally off work for a couple of days. I really don't have the energy to go to the station today, but going anyway. If I stay home, I'll just lay around & feel worse. Darn this RA. The cervical collar is helping my neck quite a bit. Thank you so much for your prayers. I've been through so many surgeries in my life, that I get nervous when a Dr mentions it. Maybe I can stop whining a little. :^:
We didn't get any of the ice storm in this area, just lots of cold rain. In places surrounging us, & Tennessee, they had ice. I still would like snow, just one time this winter.
I came across this last night, and thought of you, Bluet.......

SunnyD....good to hear from you. Glad you're ok. We miss you when you're gone.

Sheila...I'm glad your house sold so fast. I know that took some stress off. Also, glad your dad is moving with you, especially if that's what you're hoping for. I wonder, though, if he gets to disliking the assisted living place there, will he start wanting to move back in with you?
I'm afraid I'm guilty of being one of those "peeping toms" of empty houses. I don't know about Corvaliss, but here, if we're interested in a place, we look around to make sure we want to call about it. Also, there's usually a name & phone # on the front door for contacts, so that makes it virtually impossible to not look through the windows, unless there are shades drawn. And I AM jealous of your beautiful weather! We're suppose to have a nice week end, weather wise.
To answer your question...we would LOVE for DS to get his own place. Not any mention of it, yet. DH is going to have a talk with him next month. It will be a year. He will have to start helping on the bills, if he wants to stay here. We just can't keep paying for everything ourselves. He helps a little sometimes. But, all of our bills have doubled & tripled in the past year. Don't mean to be harsh, but we're poor folks. :^:

Hello to everyone.......TGIF "THANK GOD IT'S FRIDAY!" & "THANK GOD I'M FORGIVEN!"

Hi Gals... I wonder if will I ever catch up :dizzy: :faint: I didn't think I was gone that long :p :o :D

I have been sooo very busy... I just had so much to get done this week - and all at once!! Have you ever begun one project to find yourself up to your neck in another... it's like a Domino effect :dizzy: It all began with us buying storage bins on Monday for all my Decorations... Joe had the day off for our dental appointments & we went shopping afterwards. Tuesday I began cleaning things up to store them and then went into another project and into another and I had to get it done so things would be in my hallway or in my living-room... I am still not finished, but got enough done for the moment to give it a week or two of rest before I begin again. I also had a deadline today to e-mail everyone with the music lists - I am in charge of selecting music for the musicians at our church for each month and I was way behind in getting started. But I did get it finished and even got it done for next month too! So now I am all set till the end of March :D What a relief! :^:

Joe & I also got our taxes done last night too - so I was brain dead by 9pm. We mailed that off this morning - nice to know we'll be getting a bit back this year :smug: Oh... and I had to make a couple cards too... a friend is moving and another is ill. That took me a bit of time to do too... I enjoy embellishing them.

I still haven't paid my bill's this week! :p I usually do that each Thursday, but with so much to get done this week I have neglected *us*. Maybe I will squeak in a couple hours tomorrow... we'll see. We are going out to dinner with our friends tomorrow evening to celebrate my 48th birthday together... we always have the best time out with them!! Don't know where we are going yet - it's my pick as to the restaurant we go to, but I can't decide. My birthday is actually on Tuesday and my hubby is going to take off that day too :smug: Don't know what we'll do yet, but we always have a good time.

Thanks Bluet!! You are too kind ;) Now I have everyone's survey from here :goodvibes I liked what you said about protecting all children from the bad in this world - I so wish that too! It's a shame that a wish cannot make it so, huh.

You made me  with the secret telling --- you are too funny Bonnie! I so wish that you didn't have to work anymore... it sure does a number on you. I too think of you each weekend and how relieved you much feel each Friday evening :goodvibes

You are right... we don't talk diet too much and I too enjoy that!!! I do it enough on the other threads I belong to. It's wonderful coming here just to chat :goodvibes :flow2:

I missed the last two Hallmark Mysteries :( --- I hope they repeat them, so I can catch them again. So many shows to watch. I ended up taping allot of them because I had a hard time staying awake! I like that new show *Numb3rs* --- it's really good, but it's up against another show I watch, so on goes my VCR! It's a good thing that I have the days to catch up in watching them :p and being they are recorded I don't have to sit through the commercials.

You turned down that dessert :o Goodness gracious, you deserve a big ole pat-on-the-back girl!!! I don't know that I could have done that... I would have still had a bite or two I think. :cp: Good for you!!!! :cp: And the meal sounded delish :T Made my mouth water reading your post

I have heard of those SAD lamps and they do help people that go through the winter blues ~ maybe you ought to give it a go for next winter Bluet? I think I am gonna... I had mentioned it to my mother just two weeks ago (before all this sun we are having now) that i might get one for next winter. It is just too hard getting through Oct. to April with hardly any sunshine... makes me bonkers.

Funny Sheila, you mentioned that too --- stay awake for the Thursday line up!! I have two small VCR's and believe me I had them both going, cuz I was not able to stay awake!! All really good shows - didn't you think so :D

Nope, you didn't miss anything in my posts ;) I didn't post about all I had to do this week because I didn't know I was gonna be doing it till I was doing it. Did I just make any sense  I just thought I could keep up with it all and couldn't... something had to give and unfortunately it was posting on the forum. I am :sorry:

I bet that your kitties are really feeling the move!!! Cats are so sensitive to changes. My *Tang* kitty (now passed on) did not do well with changes - he would become very ill whenever something changed his routine. I will say a prayer that your furry kids stay well, Sheila.

Oh... you were asking about dusting a Christmas Tree that stays up - I got to talking with some friends about the topic and they leave theirs up too! They said that they just put a king size sheet over it to keep it dust free and put it in the basement and then come Christmas they are all set. I cannot believe how many people leave them up.

:sunny: You mentioned Spring!!!! :flow1: It's almost here I can just feel it :goodvibes  I CAN'T WAIT!!!! It has been sunny here 6 days now and it even went up to 50* today  And it's suppose to be sunny all weekend too - I'll take it :flow1: And you should see the birds at our feeders - what an awesome sound!

Sheila, I would have called the realtor too!!! What were they thinking that they could just wonder over and peek into your windows?! It's hard enough to be going through all you do as it is. Whatever came of it --- has your home sold yet? I think I missed something somewhere in your posts in trying to catch up quickly :dizzy: When are you making the move? Is your DF adjusting okay? That would be so cool if your DF could move closer to you and you could visit :)

I think it would be great to reconnect with your sister again, Sheila --- life is just so very short... go for it!!! Wanna bet she misses you too ;)

Angel, my father is doing very well - thank you for asking. I just got a note from my mother this morning telling me that his sores are taking their time, but healing nicely... praise GOD!

Nope... we haven't made eye appointments yet - will soon. We both really need to go. I am so very sorry to hear that you aren't feeling very well again... darn it all anyway! You DO know that I keep you in my constant prayers :angel: I know how hard it is to live with chronic pain... whine away, sweetie!!!!! Whine away, that's what we are here for :^: {{{Hugs}}}

Thank you so much for your concerns over my brother, I am sure you totally know how hard it is. I know... he must be ready for change for change to happen. I am here when he is and he knows it too.

Okay, enough of my bantering, it seems like I have written a book :o I will catch you all again when I can, okay. We have a very FULL weekend this weekend - what with a Super Bowl this Sunday... anyone having friends over to watch the game? We'll have our buds over with their kids --- it'll be fun!

Have a *GREAT WEEKEND* ladies, whatever you do :D

 Hi Gals,

Ohhh so quiet here today - hope I didn't frighten you all away with my last post :o ;) Maybe it's because everyone is out enjoying their sunny day :D I know we sure are! In fact, just as soon as I finish with this post we are heading out again. We just got home from breakfast out & grocery shopping & I have the beef in the slow cooker with bar-b-q sauce for tomorrow's game. Then when we get home @ around 5:00 today we'll be heading out for dinner with our friends. It's such a beautiful day!! 53* and the clearest blue sky! Just Beautiful.

Hope this note finds you all well
having a great day :bubbles:

Okay... where is everyone :?: !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

02-07-2005, 10:33 PM

Uuggh, by dose is all tuffed ub! :( Just got on to say I'll post later when I feel better. I can't remember when I last had a cold. It's yucky. . .

02-07-2005, 10:40 PM

Aweee Sheila, I thought something had to be wrong - it's just not like you to go so long without writing. I sure do hope you feel better real soon. I bet that you got yourself all run down from packing and selling and such... I sure do miss everyone! I thought I said something to offend someone --- I was just going back into my post to reread it :o

You just take care of yourself and know that you will be in my thoughts and prayers, okay :grouphug:

Hello Everyone,

Of course you didn't say anything wrong Sunny. :)

We were gone for the weekend and came home Monday morning. We went to Stevens Point to visit DD, SIL and Grandbaby.

Monday morning I developed a sore shoulder and a stiff neck. DH had the same thing last week, so we think it is a virus. Feel pretty lousy, but am at work today.

Will check in this evening, talk to you all later. Sheila, I thought mabe you were experiencing computer problems with your laptop. Sorry to hear you are not feeling well. Charlotte is also probably not feeling par either, due to it is time for fer treatment.

02-08-2005, 11:47 AM

 Hi Bonnie, I am so glad to hear that you went away for the weekend, bet it felt good, well... till you became ill that is. Did you have a good time?

Joe has taken the day off today for my 48th birthday :^: And just as soon as I finish here we are heading for the day out - don't know what we are doing yet, but we always have a good time together :) Tonight we will meet our friends for dinner at our fav. family restaurant and then come back here to have a little cake :T Joe bought me the prettiest little cake! It's so tiny... enough for 4 - 6 people ~ Love it!! I will get a picture later and post it tomorrow, okay.

You take care now and feel better, Bonnie :grouphug: :goodvibes

Hope you are feeling a little better today, Sheila :^:
Thinking of you Angel, hope this finds you doing okay.
Diane, will we see you again? I hope :crossed:

{{{Hugs}}} for everyone!

02-08-2005, 05:41 PM
SunnyD, so is today your birthday or was it yesterday? Either way, by the time you read this, I hope you had a fantastic birthday! :hb: Sounds like you have a fun time planned, and I look forward to seeing the pretty cake. Your SuperBowl barbecue stuff sounds way too good. I'm a sucker for a good barbecue.

Bluet, how is the grandbaby? And how is your daughter doing?

Yeah, I think that I just let my guard down and the germs crept in. The house came through okay in the inspection, although there's stuff to fix, of course. The buyers have until tomorrow to tell us what they want us to do, and then we respond.

We rented an apartment when we were in Corvallis. It's a 2 bedroom townhouse, and the only place that would take 4 pets. I'm not sure where we're going to put the catboxes, but we'll figure something out. We also looked at houses. We decided we're spoiled because we live in a remodeled home with high beamed ceilings and lots of light. Everything looked so cramped and dark. We figure, though, that once we've lived in an apartment for a few months, the places we look at will seem better. I'm in no hurry to buy a house--want to get one that we really fall in love with. My Dad has reneged on moving so we'll see what happens after we leave. We found him a nice place to go if he changes his mind.

Have a good Wednesday, ladies! I'm certainly tired of feeling all congested and achy and tired. :(

02-08-2005, 11:23 PM
Good Evening,

Happy Birthday Sunny. Bet you had a wonderful day. Wow, no one has ever taken the day off for my birthday, not even me. ;) That is really special that Joe took the day off to spend with you. :) You will have to tell us what you got for your birthday.

Sheila, hope you are feeling better by this evening. Our daughter is fine, she is back to work 4 1/2 days a week. She found a good babysitter. A friends Mother, who babysits for Adam. Adam still take zantax and still sleeps in his car seat sitting up in the middle of his crib, but he is doing much better. He has become a chubby happy little boy. Sorry your Dad changed his mind about Corvallis. I just know you will find the house of your dreams there in Corvallis. :)

Charlotte, hope you were able to get your treatment and you are feeling better. Really worried about your thumb. Praying as usual.

Have a good Wednesday ladies.

02-09-2005, 01:13 PM
 Hi Beautiful Ladies,

Well, it was a pretty laid back -NICE- day for us yesterday :) It began with a phone call of birthday wishes from my parents... it's always nice to hear from them :D Then we did some running around from place to place, we needed to get the E-check done on the jeep, what a pain (we passed this time :) ) & then renewed the License Tags. Then... we went shopping at *Bath & Body Works* (love that shop) where Joe bought me a candle, bath gel & lotion for my birthday... he wanted me to choose which one I wanted because there were so many new scents to choose from when he went to get me something on his own... I enjoyed them all! But the one I chose was *Creme Brulee* ("oh my goodness" yummy!!). There was also *Angel Food Cake* (yummy!), *Lemon Meringue* & *Chocolate Fondue*. These are not desserts ;) Well... I guess they could be, depends on how you look at it  :o  Then we went to a Vitamin Shoppe & Target to do a little shopping, I didn't feel like going to a movie yesterday, just wanted to get out with Joe. After his morning nap he said he felt so much better.

When we got home at around 4:00... Joe's sister, Annie, called me and sang *Happy Birthday* to me (sweet!) and then we chatted for about 40 minutes about our diets... she just got back from a month long vacation and is feeling really plump (she said that, not me ;) ) --- she is a tiny little thing too. Being today is the beginning of Lent we both thought it would be a great beginning to the cleansing process from all the junk 'we' have eaten in the last two to three weeks. I am so glad  I really do need to get back "on program" again before I am out of control! I eat way too many bad foods (nibbles here and there) when I am feeling good / healthy and then it all catches up with me. I sure do have a food hangover from last night ( "where's the truck that hit me!" ), but it was FUN! I'm getting ahead of myself... after me & Annie chatted, Joe & I left for dinner at one of our fav. restaurants... we met our friends, Mike & Peggy, there and had a great dinner! I had... "Oh my goodness" ,great tasting :T Chicken Marsala with Portabella Mushrooms (my mouth is watering as I am thinking of it again!). I even got a FREE slice of Birthday Cake afterwards ( just took a bite or two - I saved most of it for the freezer ). Then we came back here and had some decaf coffee and more cake (oink! oink!). This morning I felt like caca, poopy, crapola... (my spell check wants to fix these words - *LoL* ), but I had a super time!! But while I felt this way this morning I wrapped everything up and threw it in the spare-room freezer. Not to be touched till after Easter now... if then. I am going on a *NO SUGAR* fast for the 6 weeks of Lent and am going to try to eat more fruit and veggies instead, in hopes that it becomes a great habit by then. I thawed out some shrimp to snack on today (YUM!) & fish for dinner tonight. I am looking forward to it & feeling better again! I'm not sick like before (yeah) just feeling crummy from all the sugars :faint:

:flow1: Hi Bonnie, I got allot of nice things... ;) The pink sweater in the picture below is from my friends daughter, Lisa, & my friends, Mike & Peggy, got me a really nice black blouse and Joe got me the bath things I mentioned above & a cake, not to mention he took the day off :) My folks got me the Hallmark Card program a few weeks ago (they are always early) & my sister sent me a gift card for Michael's Craft Center & 3 ref. magnets in the shape of kitties to put pictures of my boys into :D It was a very good day :sunny: I do feel *very special* & *spoiled* with my Joe and wish it were this way for all married couples. He says to me often... that I had such a rough start to life - he is going to make sure I have the best ending ;) He has done well by me and I am truly blessed :bubbles:

Here is a picture of me with the cake Joe bought me :D
Isn't the cake pretty? He did good :smug:

How are YOU feeling today Sheila?

Hope that everyone is having a good day today!

02-09-2005, 08:34 PM

SunnyD! Glad you had a good day. I thought of you today, just haven't felt good since my treatment, Monday. Went too long waiting for it.

Sheila! It's bad to be sick just as you're trying to get settled in. I'm sure your dad will change his mind, when he goes to missing you....& he will.

Bluet.....I wish you enjoyed your job as much as I enjoy going to the station. I had to miss today, though. Just couldn't make it.
My Rhuemy told me the tests showed 5 out of 7 disks in my neck are putting pressure on my spinal cord. C3,C4,C5,C6, & C7. I suppose my thumb has good reason to be messed up from bad circulation! I sure dread what's coming ahead. have a plate at the C5-C7 disks, so it must have messed up, too.

Well, girls....still don't feel too great. Going to lay back down.
Have a good evening.

02-09-2005, 10:09 PM
Charlotte, so good to hear from you. Love the great graphics, too! Especially the crabby sleep lady. We all know how she feels, right? So what does the rheumatologist recommend, or is he leaving that up to the surgeon? When you had surgery the first time, I imagine you thought it would last a lifetime. It's the pits that bad things are happening. Hopefully your treatment will kick in soon and you'll feel a bit better.

SunnyD, what a beautiful cake for a beautiful lady! Your Joe has excellent taste in both cakes and wives. :) Sounds like you had a wonderful day. I love Bath and Body Works. I spend way too much money in there, and now have little dribs and drabs of lotion. Maybe I should combine them all and make a new scent? Cake, cake, and more cake--yum!

Bluet, the poor kid still has reflux--that's too bad. Has he started any solid food yet? I wonder when it's going to stop, and he can stretch out in his crib. Hey, I've been wanting to ask you more about giving up sugar. Did you just stop cold turkey, do you use Splenda or anything sweet, did you have any "withdrawal," and why did you decide to give up sugar? Does it get easier as time passes, or do you feel deprived at all? Tell me everything!

So I was dreading hearing how much it was going to cost to fix the problems that cropped up on the home inspection, but, to my relief, it's going to cost under $1,000. The realtor is contributing $600 of her commission. Since she got the higher commission because she brought the buyer and seller, she can afford it. :) So it looks like a go, and I'm scheduled to sign papers next Wednesday. Now I have to start packing again. Bleah!

I know what your SIL means about "feeling plump," although I'm not, nor will I ever be, tiny. :D I've been eating horribly again (the stress and feeling unwell) and the jeans I put on today feel tight. While I know I'm not going to gain back 82 lbs. in just a few weeks, I can do some serious damage if I don't take control. I wish we were all moved, everything settled, and I was back in my exercise and eating routine. If wishes were horses, beggars would ride, and Sheila would be skinny. . .

Have a great Thursday everyone! Hopefully a new CSI this week. (I'm writing this on Wednesday evening and figure nobody will see it until Thursday--I do know today is Wednesday!)

Hello Everyone,

It is so nice to see all of us back again, even though most of us don't feel well.

Sunny, sounds like you had a very very nice birthday. Lots of gifts and lots of attention, just what a special little lady like you should have. You look lovely in your new pink sweater.

Charlotte, get some rest, and feel better, then hop on back here and tell us exactly what is going on with you. Sorry you had to miss the station, I know you love going there.

Well, here is my story:

Two years ago I was a mess, I was twenty pounds over weight, depressed and moody. I was at the library looking for the final answer in dieting when I came across a book called "Potato Not Prozac" by Kathleen Des Maisons, I thought well, "what kind of hoky crapp is this"? Because I was desperate to lose weight I took the PNP book by Kathleen along with several other diet books. Well, I never read the other books, I started reading PNP and got so caught up in the theory of being sugar sensitive, and the biochemistry of the body, and wanting to feel better, that I started following her steps. The first time around I went too fast, but the second time I went slower with all the steps and eventually detoxed from sugar. I do not eat any white flour, I have three meals a day with the appropriate amount of protein and vegetables ( Kathleen calls them browns) I take the recommended vitamins. No cafeine, no sugar, no sugar substitues (because they make you crave sugar) and no alcohol. If I stray from the diet and slip in some whites (white flour) I become depressed and start feeling crappy. Sometimes I realize it and sometimes I don't. This time I picked up on it and took some on line class that Kathleen is holding right now. The next class I plan to take is on depression. You can go to Kathleen's web site and look around if you like. You girls are very open minded and I think you would like the journaling part that is necessary and I know you would like the structure of the 7 steps and the support of the ladies at the web site which is I learned about 3fatchicks at RR, that is how I met you girls. There you go Sheila, that is how I have kept 20 pounds off for two years, do not struggle with weight and have been booze free for two years too.

Now you know all my true confessions, decorated Christmas trees and Radiant Recovery. ;)

02-10-2005, 02:02 PM

I am still fighting a terrible hang-over headache... I just caved and took a migraine pill, so it'll be gone before I finish this letter to you. I hate taking them, but it works! I wait till I cannot take the pain any longer to take it - even though I know I shouldn't.

Today we are getting snow - pretty - (huge snow flakes), but I don't think we'll get allot. We are having problems here with ice dams causing floods in our area too... it's really bad! It's not hitting Joe & I directly, but it's all around us.

I have lots to be done, just haven't done it yet. I did run the vacuum yesterday and got the house cleaned up, but I have so much to get done in this office and I find that all I accomplish is "shutting the door" so I don't have to look at it

I had a frustrating day the other day with the computer, downloaded the New Norton Anti-Virus 2005 program and it changed allot of settings to protect me from bugs and virus' --- it's a great program, but frustrating... thank goodness I got it all sorted out. Some days I have such *Love / Hate* feelings about this computer!

Bonnie, thanks for the site... I will give it a look-see later on today. I totally agree with what you have written and do that too... when I am not OFF-PROGRAM for parties and alike :p I want to follow it all the time, but sometimes it can be very difficult when going out with friends and family - I just do my best. But I can say without a doubt that I feel so much better when I stay away from sugars. I do use a sugar sub. though - Splenda - don't know what I'd do without it, cuz I like my teas with a little (1/2 pket). I look forward to checking out the site later...

I am so sorry to hear that your grandbaby is still having health problems... I didn't see your answer to Sheila's question... Is he on solid foods?

New shows tonight! At 8:00 is a repeat *CSI-Vegas*; 9:00 is a NEW *CSI-Vegas* & then 10:00 is a NEW *ER* & *Without a Trace*. Did you see that they moved *Wickedly Perfect* to Saturday nights? I couldn't find it! And then stumbled upon it again last week... I still think I may have missed the end  I don't watch allot of TV on the weekends...

Thanks Sheila, :smug: I am so glad to hear that you didn't have to pay the whole $1,000.00! :o I bet that you will be so relieved when you have settled into your new place.

Sheila, speaking for myself... the only withdrawal I feel when I get off sugar is the hang-over withdrawal that usually last me about 2 - 3 days... otherwise I feel GREAT when I am totally off and do not crave it at all when I get enough protein into my diet. I don't eat allot of protein, but it's important to get enough so you don't become anemic. I must admit to you all that I still do have a small piece of my Dark Chocolate each day after my dinner... I just cannot give that up :dizzy: When I say one piece it is less then 1/4 ounce - just enough to say "yum" :T and put a smile on my face :)

While I know I'm not going to gain back 82 lbs. in just a few weeks, I can do some serious damage if I don't take control. I wish we were all moved, everything settled, and I was back in my exercise and eating routine. If wishes were horses, beggars would ride, and Sheila would be skinny. . . Meeeeeeeeee Toooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!! Yesterday while I was putting away all those sugary foods I took a bite of one piece as I was doing it and then immediately spit it out! I wanted to prove to myself that I can do it! And I did! This is day two and as of right now - meds working :D - I feel pretty good. I will feel great tomorrow :^:

How is your cold??? Better??? I will keep you in my prayers that you handle the stress better, okay ;) We don't want you to get sick again ;)

Angel, Great Graphics!!!! Thank-you for the birthday wishes :goodvibes

I am so so so sorry to hear that you are still really ill... do you think that your back will ever heal or is it a part of your illness :( I think that the TV station helps you take your mind off of your poor health... I have heard the saying that "when you hurt but do for others, you forget about yourself & your pain". That's why going to the station is a good thing for you ;)
*Thinking of YOU!*

Okay... I really must be getting some work done here today - I have tons to get done!

*Have a Great Day!*

02-10-2005, 08:29 PM
Bluet, thanks for sharing about radiant recovery. I checked out the web site a bit, liked what I saw, and I think I'll see if the book is at the library. Hey, there must be some secrets still lurking, waiting to be shared. Speaking of secrets, when we were at my friends' house, the guy friend told a story to us about his childhood that his wife of almost 50 years had never heard. I thought that was pretty cool that there were things they didn't know about each other even after almost 50 years. Keeps the magic alive.

SunnyD, my DH was just mentioning that he thought the weather back there was probably causing ice dam problems. We've never lived anywhere that we've had that problem, but I've read about it. And I've watched House Detective on HGTV. :) Glad you got rid of your "hangover." Where did you get those love/hate computer graphics? They're so right on. Good for you for spitting out the candy. I'm proud to say that no sugar has passed these lips today.

Guess what? A car drove up into my driveway and out hopped a Korean couple who started to wander around my yard. I went out and asked if I could help them, and they said no, they were just going to wander around. I said that the house was sold, and they said that their daughter had bought it so now I knew it was her parents. I gently said that the house still belonged to us, and if they wanted to call and make an appointment to come by, I'd be happy to show them around. They got in the car and left and I called the realtor, who was appalled. She called the daughter's husband and told him that if the parents wanted to look at the place, he should call her and she would show them around. So hopefully they'll stay away until we leave.

Not much happening today, although I got a few boxes packed. I did the 2 mile Walk Away the Pounds tape and also took my dog for a walk so I finally got some exercise. That felt good. The cold is almost gone, but I've got a lingering blah feeling. I think it's probably the stress of everything. Can't remember if I said that I have an appointment with the disability doctor on Saturday morning. I found out the guy isn't even a neurologist so I'm betting he doesn't know anything about what I have. If that's the case, he probably won't recommend disability no matter what, and I'll have to hire an attorney. From what I understand, people with rare medical problems have a hard time getting disability so I'm prepared to appeal, but I'm still hoping.

Looking forward to being a couch potato tonight and watching some good TV. Have a good Friday, everyone!

02-11-2005, 12:05 AM

I am so proud of you Sunny and Sheila. No sugar today. If you need sugar, it is best to eat it with your meal, this way you will have less of a BE spike, and you won't have such a strong craving for sugar later. Going cold turkey with the sugar is really hard to do and is best if you baby step off of the stuff, then you are most likely to be successful staying off the stuff. :)

CSI was interesting, but I figured the Mother had done it as soon as I saw her in her fluffy pink coat. The bear thing I could have done without. I don't understand hunting. :?: I probably won't be able to watch Mystery Movie tomorrow night. Grandson from Green Bay is coming to stay over night Friday and Saturday. His older brothers are in a basketball tournament in Two Rivers, about seven miles away from here. The teams and their parents are staying in a motel near there. "Basketball Tournaments" hallelujah, can Spring be far behind?

Next Thursday Survivor is on again. Yea, can't wait. Here we go bickering and fighting every Thursday night again. :D I have completely lost interest in Wickedly Perfect. I have really gotten into American Idol though. It is so interesting to see those kids interacting with one another. And of course some of them are incredibly talented and then on the other hand some of them are not.

Adam is not on solid foods yet. We are hoping he will grow out of the reflux by 6 months. One can always hope. right?

Glad you are feeling better Sheila, good job on the excercise. Sunny hope you headache is better. Hope you are feeling better too Charlotte.

Bye for now......Bonnie

I'm back sure did miss all of you. I have been in the hospital several days with symptoms of a heart problems but had all the necessary test including a cardiac cath and all is good with the heart. :D I have suffered shortness of breath and minor chest pain for about 6 wks. now so today I go to primary Dr. to see what some of the other test showed. I was a smoker for 30 yrs., just quit 4 yrs. ago so naturally I am worried about the lungs. :(

Happy belated birthday Sunny sounded like you had a good one.

Sheila hope you are feeling better and congrats on selling the house.

Charlotte hope you are feeling better too.

Bluet hi and thanks for sending that website, I have been overdosing with sugar since I have been puny. :(

I don't have much time now to write need to go hop in shower and get ready to go to Dr. this morning. I will holler at you all later, have a great day!!

02-11-2005, 10:30 AM

Good Morning Diane, How good it is to see you back... I thought you may be of the many that stop in and then leave us :( I am glad to see you back :), but am so very sorry to hear of your health problems! WooHoo - it isn't your heart! Will you be having further testing done on your lungs? :cp: Good for you in quitting when you did! I will hold you in prayers as you are going to your Dr's again today

It's so good to see you --- don't stay away too long, okay :grouphug:

:thanks: Bonnie :smug: 2 full days gone by with NO SUGAR now :D And the headache has left me  & I am feeling much better today :flow1: Maybe now I can get some things done here today. I have so much to get done in this office and have been coming in to post & then shutting the door, so I don't have to look at the mess & the bill's that have to be taken care of :dizzy: especially with the headache I had :stars:

*CSI-Vegas* I had her pegged too! Right away... I don't think that the CSI shows hide "who dune it" so much (I figure them out too fast) --- their focus on the program seems to be "how it happened" and showing you all the gory details :p  Me too! I cannot wait for *Survivor* to begin again! Bonnie, do you watch *The Amazing Race*? Well, Rob and Amber from Survivor will be in it when it begins again the first week in March... they are racing for a Million dollars again - together this time. I cannot wait to watch them! :dancer:

Hi Sheila, *ER* was very good too! It will be interesting to see what happens with Carrie & her mother :chin:

I got those computer graphics (all of them) from my IncrediMail program (it's the program I use for my e-mail vrs. using Outlook - I love it!)... it's what comes with it. I know that they are called Emoticons (something like that) and that you can get them downloaded onto your computer at their site, but I get them with my IncrediMail. I just saved & uploaded them into my photobucket to use in here... glad you enjoyed them.

Did those parents come back again?!? Strange! Sometimes I wonder what goes through peoples minds... :chin: Glad that you called the realtor and got it taken care of this time. Bet you just cannot wait for this to be all said and done! :cheer:

:cp: Good for you getting in your walking along with the move... I am glad you are feeling better, but hope that those blahs leave you soon. I bet you are right and the stress is rearing it's ugly head - I can totally understand you feeling like that, I would be stressed :yikes: too! I think you are doing rather well! The exercise will be a great stress relief for you.

I'll be thinking of you with prayers on Saturday when you go to that Dr... I really do hope that it all goes the way you want and you won't have to get your attorney :df: :genie:

Okay Angel, YOU have been gone long enough now! Time to get your little hiney back here and let us all know how you are doing ;) :^: Bet you are outdoors basking in the :sunny: Sunshine that we ARE NOT getting & you are! Snow and more snow... want some of ours? We got a good 5 inches yesterday, not too much really, but it's cold! 17* this morning. My folks in Maine are getting hammered! They are at around 13 inches where they live and it's still snowing there. Better them then us :D Okay --- come back now, WE MISS YOU! :grouphug: Seriously... I hope you feel better real soon :bubbles:

Okay... time for me to quit stalling and get to the days work.
Have a super wonderful weekend if I don't get back here :flow1:
Later gals...

02-11-2005, 10:51 AM

Good morning everyone. It's Friday, already. I suppose it came around slowly to you all, but, remember, I slept most of the week. ;) Bluet.....know you're happy....TGIF!
I feel pretty good this morning, other than very stiff. Whatever happened to soft tissues in the body?!

Candlelady....I've been wondering about you. So sorry you've been in the hospital with your heart acting up. Hope this Dr visit helps you. Must be scarey to have heart problems. Keep us informed. You're important to us.

Bluet...I didn't know you had such a problem with sweets. I wonder if it would help me. Sweets is my main dieting problem. In fact, if I didn't crave sweets, I wouldn't get overweight most of the time. You must have some kind of will power, girl! I may try it, when I know I'm dedicated to sticking to it. Although I've lost 9 lbs so far, this time, I'm still eating my doughnut & coffee each morning. :^: It sounds like your little grandbaby is coming along well. Just a little patience. Have to remember he's premature, so very delicate. It won't be long until he's up & getting into everything, making everyone run after him. :D

Sheila...How rude those people were! I know what I told you about looking at houses around here.....but there is a limit. Especially if someone is still living in the house. I'd never look around at a place that's still occupied!
Yes, I thought that first surgery was good for life. At least for C5-C7 disks. I'll always have back trouble with OA from the car wreck in '83. But, have been able to keep the pain tolerable with prescription meds. This time, I don't know if it's from OA or RA, so don't know how it will be done. Rheumy only had the test run, so Neurologist (Tuesday) will make the decision to go to surgeon, or not. I pretty much know I'll be going, though. Just don't know how extensive the surgery will be. I'm praying so hard the RA isn't involved. If so, my future could look pretty dim.
I can tell you, Sheila, it's a planned thing with disability. You will probably have to get an attorney. It's just an automatic thing. And it's automatic to be turned down the first time. Don't give up.

SunnyD....I do hope your headache is better.
Spitting that candy out! Such cute smilies! I wish we could get at least one good snow before winter is over. All we can get is very cold wind. Miserable! Glad you had a good birthday. Thanks for the Valentine card.
Connie, (my friend & manager at the TV station) has a birthday on Valentine's Day. She is one of those people that is so hard to buy for! Not picky....we just never know what to get her. She collects lighthouses, but her house & our office is full of everything with lighthouses (& angels) to where there's no more room. I gave up getting something for her to wear. Nothing I buy fits right. I've given gift cards, until I'm embarrassed. So, here I am, the last minute, & still haven't thought of anything! HELP!!!!

Gotta go get ready for work. Glad to get back into the routine, at least for now. You're right, SunnyD, it makes me feel better, & I forget my health for awhile.

02-11-2005, 11:02 AM
Hi SunnyD....we posted at the same time! Glad your headache is better, & you're doing so good with your sugar.

Yes, we're getting sunshine....but COLD wind! And, yes, I want some of your snow!!

And for you hiney isn't LITTLE!!

Have a great day!

02-11-2005, 09:16 PM
Yippee--Charlotte and Candlelady are back!! Oh, my goodness, Candlelady, what's going on with you? How scary for you and your family. Glad to know it's not your heart, and definitely praying that it's not anything bad. I had pleurisy once with those same symptoms so I'm hoping it's something as simple as that. Good for you for quitting smoking, by the way. How are the grandkids? Having to run around after the little one and having shortness of breath must not have been too much fun.

You know the worst thing about last night's CSI in my opinion, Bluet? The scenes of the rhino being shot in the canned hunt. I couldn't look at that. I thought maybe the husband and the mother--didn't see the horny bar guy as really being involved so that was a surprise. I always like the interplay between characters, and the great bits of forensic information you can pick up. Great trivia for cocktail parties! (Okay, I've never been to a cocktail party in my life, but I've seen 'em on TV :) )

So how much accumulated snow do you have, SunnyD? Does it snow, then melt, or pile up? Brrrr, 17 degrees! So did you get your office work done today? Hey, we had the realtor and a handyman over today to look at the work that needs to be done before closing (the stuff the home inspector wanted fixed). The handyman had a 4 year old girl with him, and my realtor said the cats went up to say hello, and she petted them, but then, because little kids are so active, the cats got scared and hid. They are really friendly kitties, but they just not used to kids, I guess. I'd never thought about kids being any different, but it's true they move faster and more often. I found my poor calico kitty behind the furnace after the little girl left, and my other two appeared from who knows where. It's amazing where cats will hide when they feel threatened.

Charlotte, hopefully you got a good restful sleep. Hey, maybe we all should give the anti-sugar thing a try. Once I'm settled in Corvallis, I'd like to give it a shot. We can update each other on how we're doing. You mentioned doughnut, and my mouth started watering so I know I have a problem! :) Oh, I was already turned down once, and this time I've gotten a lot farther in the process than last time. An organization for people with this disorder has a booklet that gives tips on the kind of information that should be obtained. I got letters from doctors, friends, coworkers, etc. and sent in brochures detailing the disorder. Plus I'm over 50 this time, and I think the older you are, the better (so to speak). I'm optimistic, but ready to hire an attorney if need be. Hey, we're all praying hard that the RA isn't involved, too, Charlotte.

Went to water aerobics today for the first time in over a week. We'll go again Monday and Wednesday and after that our membership is through. It's kind of sad, but hopefully the new health club will be just as good. Besides packing a box or two, I spent the day trying to deal with Dad's financial stuff. He lost a settlement statement that he needs for his taxes, and I need to transfer some stock for him. I was in the process of transferring some stock of my mother's that he never transferred when I discovered she only had one share, worth $4.16 today, and it's not worth the trouble to transfer it. That's probably why my Dad never did it in 1996, but he's since forgotten why so he asked me to deal with it. Then I had to go to the bank and deal with power of attorney issues. Plus, after turning in three changes of address, the post office still isn't forwarding my Dad's mail. That doesn't bode well for our change of address next week, does it?

Have a great weekend everyone!

Good Evening,

Wouldn't that be so cool if we all followed Radiant Recovery and we could compare notes and figure out what triggers our Beta Endorphines, therefore we could chemically figure out what makes us gain weight and we could stop the roller coaster and we could all eat the right things to gain radiance? Well, we could sure give it a try. I know I have not reached radiant yet, even though I have reached the seventh step and detoxed from sugar. Sometimes I think I have not eaten enough protein for my weight, for the day or eaten enough browns. I still have that depression albatrose hanging around my neck. We should wait until Sheila gets settled in Corvallis, if we want to try to do this together, it is too difficult to try this program when you are making big changes in your life. But if you wanted to start slowly you can start by eating breakfast every day with the appropriate amount of protein for you body weight every morning within an hour of waking and your feet hitting the floor. Having the appropriate amount of protein with your meal helps to stablize your blood sugar because protein is a very "slow" food and it creates a state of amino acids in your body. Most sugar-sensitive people on the program are eating about 5 ounces of protein like beef, fish or chicken at each meal. Good grief I could go on for hours about this program. Please excuse me, after years of trying everything to take weight off and keep it off, this is the only program that has worked for me. But, I was and still am a big chocoholic and sweet lover. Perhaps you girls are not. Towards the end, before I found Radiant Recovery, I didn't care if I had a regular nourishing meal or not......My supper every evening was consisting of sugar and more sugar and then a glass of wine and chocolate after that. Oh no, more true confessions......How come I am the only one confessing around here? :D The book that I have practically worn out and read from cover to cover many times is "The Sugar Addict's Totals Recovery Program "by Kathleen DesMaisons, Ph.D. she calls that book SARP.

I just have one more thing to say,........ well Sheila brought it up.....cocktail parties. I have never been to one in my life either, but a thousand years ago when I was a stay at home Mom, I used to watch soap operas and I was always fascinated with their parties. One of the things that fascinated me was how those women were so attractively made up and dressed and they just drove around to each other's houses and show up for a 5 minute stay and not really say anything of meaning and give each other knowing looks. But, most of all was at Christmas time, who the heck looks that good and has that time on their hands to do all that visiting right before Christmas? ;)
If I have to go visit someone, it is always a big deal and takes me forever to get ready. What on earth this has to do with a cocktail party is beyond me, but Sheila made me think of it.

Sheila good luck tomorrow with your disability project. Diane it is so nice to see you back with us. Sorry you don't feel well right now, hope it was good news at the doctors. Sunny, we did not get the snow, Jeeze what a blessing. Have fun on your weekend. Oh, by the way speaking of little hineys, I hope you got yours back in that office and got it cleaned up today, or you will not be able to go out and play with Joe this weekend. ;) Charlotte, you keep asking for that snow, but we all know you really don't need it girl. So happy to see you posting like your old self again. Still sending those prayers your way.

Good night all........Bonnie

02-12-2005, 02:16 PM
Good afternoon girls hope each of you are having a good Saturday. We went to Grandsons basketball game early this morning throughly enjoyed watching those little ones run around playing basketball.

Just wanted to report findings from Dr., the diagnosis is emphazyma. I am still in disbelief I think, hard to imagine going from good health to feeling like this. I am on 3 inhalers and Dr. said they would help alot, so hopefully they will. I plan on having one more test which I requested to completely rule out lung cancer since my Sister passed away with it. I am hoping they can get that done this week.

Sending hugs and prayers to you Charlotte, hope all goes well with you.

Here are some hugs for the rest of you girls........ :grouphug:

Been a busy morning so think I will go lie down for awhile, I will check back later.

02-12-2005, 04:53 PM
I had to pop on and post a birthday greeting on another 3FC forum so I thought I'd check in here.

Dang, Diane, I was hoping it wasn't emphazema (I know I spelled that incorrectly). My half-sister has that also. Since you already quit smoking, and they have you on medication, I hope you'll be feeling better soon and that you can maintain your health. And it doesn't sound like you have to be on oxygen at all so that's good. I'm glad you got out to your grandson's basketball game. I loved watching my kids play sports. My DD was really into sports, and we spent lots of hours at basketball games, soccer games, swim meets, and track meets. She quit playing basketball after her freshman year, but continued the other three sports.

Bluet, I once read a study about soap operas (I'm a big All My Children fan now that I'm no longer working) that said that despite all the backstabbing, drinking (everyone pours a drink when under stress), and sex, the soaps show a lot of strong emotional ties and supportive families. Uh-huh, when they're not stealing their sister's husbands, or sleeping with their brother's wives, etc. I'm forever amused at how little they have to work to maintain those lifestyles.

Hey, I'm really looking forward to reading the books and learning more about the sugar stuff. I'm psyched now.

The disability doctor was actually quite nice, and, when I asked if he'd ever seen anyone with my disorder, he said no, but he'd studied it in med school so at least he'd heard of it. I was worried he was going to hurt me by manipulating my head, but he was very gentle and didn't want me to move out of my comfort zone. The one thing he said that disturbed me was when he asked if I knew I had a slight heart murmur. What the heck? No. So I'm going to make an appt. with my regular doc to see what she says. Since I had all that stuff with the cardiologist last year, if I do have a heart murmur, it started recently. Anyway, he said he'll file the report within two weeks.

Rainy here--great Seattle weather. Have a great Sunday, ladies!

02-12-2005, 07:33 PM

Hello everyone.....

Well, I got Connie's birthday present taken care of. She mentioned yesterday that she needed to get her nails done. I took her today to eat at Ruby Tuesday's.......then to get our nails done! Great idea, & we had a terrific time! I must have had fun, 'cause I sure am tired. Of course, there's a little surprise party for her at the TV Station Monday, which is her birthday. This was just from me & DH.

Thanks for all the well wishes & prayers. I'm feeling better about everything. I think I was kinda depressed from needing....then getting my treatment. It has an effect on me like that. Still concerned, but ready to face whatever I have to. sorry you have Emphysema (spelling?). I hope you're able to keep it under control without too much trouble. I've only known one person who had it, & didn't know him very well. I do know it's a serious condition, though. My prayers are with you. If you need us, we're here for you. sounds like you may have a good chance getting your disability this time. Sorry about the heart murmur. Be sure you DO get it checked out.

Bluet...I really want to do that with all of you, but...............what about my morning doughnut & coffee???????You wouldn't take that from me, would you???????????PPPPLLLLLLLLLEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAASSSSSSS eEEE!!!!Tell me I can have my doughnut & coffee. :coffee: :D
Wouldn't it be nice if life was as simple as a Soap Opera makes it look?! :D What gets me is how fast the children grow up! One day can last a month, yet, a child is in school within a few weeks. :dizzy: I watched one where a new baby had been brought home from the hospital. When visitors came to the house, it was sitting in a high chair! Amazing how they grow. And, oh.........I try to look as nice as I can around the house, but those women are ALWAYS dressed...ready to go out the door, if needed. :p

Hi SunnyD........everyone have a good weekend.

John 13:34-35
"A new commandment I give unto you, that ye love one another; even as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another."

Love you gals,

Charlotte, what a great present for your friend! How was the surprise party? I'm glad you're more optimistic. Had to laugh about the babies on soap operas comments. It is amusing to see them as toddlers, then they disappear and come back a few years later as teenagers.

We had snow on Valentine's Day! Didn't stick, but it was kind of fun while it lasted. Yesterday we drove back from my half-sister's house and got caught in a big hail storm. Weird spring weather. We had a 40 minute ferry ride to get to the other side of the Sound, then about a 40 min. drive to her house, which is on the water. Her son was there visiting her over the weekend. We had a really nice talk, and stayed later than we had planned. Would have stayed longer, but we had to make the 2:50 ferry to get back home by 4:00 pm. Hate to keep the dog crated for longer than 6 hours, and my son was meeting us at home so he could pick up the loveseat and the rest of the chairs. We now have only two bar stools to sit at the counter and eat. Oh, it was kind of interesting on the ferry ride back because we had two coast guard boat escorts with machine guns mounted on the bow. The ferry staff said they were just practicing homeland security manuvers. It was a bit disconcerting actually.

SunnyD, my poor kitties are so upset. The furniture is disappearing, strange people are coming to the house making lots of noise (the handyman), and things are just in a big turmoil. Plus they're going to have to go back to the kennel on Friday for just one night. Then a four hour or more car ride. Actually, it's not that great for us either because we get four hours of whining from the dog and howling from the cats.

Did everyone have a good Valentine's Day?

02-14-2005, 11:20 PM

Diane, I am so sorry to hear about the emphazyma, this makes me really sad.

Sunny, were you out all day with your sweetheart?

Charlotte, nice idea for Connie's birthday. Yeah, how did the surprise party go? Was she surprised?

Sheila, I had no idea that cats and dogs would make such a fuss because you are moving. They don't like car rides either? I thought most cats and dogs liked to ride in the car. It is really nice you got to spend some time with your half-sister. So you are almost upon your big move. Loads of luck with the move.

We had a relatively quite weekend. Had little grandson from Green Bay all weekend. Attended oldest grandson's basketball game. Did some washing, and got ready to go back to work today...Boring stuff. Last night it was raining, which turned to ice which turned to slush, which made for a big mess this morning for the drive to work.

Idol is on tomorrow night and Survivor returns on Thursday. So now if I can keep my Wednesdays and Thursdays straight everything should be ok. Tonight I watched 3/4 of a Rock Hudson and Doris Day movie. Rock and Doris are such a hoot. Another confession, when I was in my teens, I always wanted to be Doris Day. Stop laughing that's not nice you guys.

Have a good Tuesday........Bonnie

02-15-2005, 08:18 AM

Good morning everyone! I've been up since 3:30 am! Woke up & couldn't go back to sleep.
I hope you all had a great Valentine's day! My sweetie sent me a beautiful bouquet of roses & daisies. :D Ain't he sweeeeeeeeet!! I bought Welch's bubbly (non-alcohol) & chocolates & we watched a movie together last night.

Yes, Connie was pleasantly surprised. She received gifts all day. Well deserved, too. She works very hard & has to stay close to the station most of the time....we never know when it'll go off the air, for some technical reason. She & Bro. Jones live in a mobile home in the yard of the station.
I found the perfect ecard to send her. I'm always teasing her on our evening program (news, weather, sports, etc.) about her being older than I am. She's only 4 months older, but I really stress it. Anyway, I sent her an ecard that told her I was glad I wasn't as old as she was! :D I couldn't believe it was so easy to find! She put it on the air for all to see. We brought all the presents & balloons out with us on the program so all could see what she got. It was fun.

Sheila...I'm glad you spent time with your sister. I'm sure she enjoyed your company. I hope she's doing ok. I'm sure it was a little scarey about the homeland maneuvers! Did I tell you all about a group from Iraq hacking into our TV Website last week? It was so scarey. I got a call on Saturday from Connie to bring the site up. It covered the whole screen. A message from a group, talking terrible, & threatening, etc., saying they would interfere everytime we tried to rebuild it. Connie reported it to the authorities, & it was true that someone from there had hacked into it. They left it, though, soon, to not be traced any farther. We have it back, now. I took the address out of my signature last week because of that. I didn't want any of you to see it. Hopefully, it won't happen again. What a strange feeling we had! :o We don't have any of our financial information on it, & are very glad. I wonder about businesses, though, that do. We wondered if they went into it because of it being a christian site, or just happen to randomly hack into it.

Hi Bluet...still petting those grands, I see. I don't think it sounded like a boring weekend, at all.
   Doris Day, huh??  .....sorry. No, really, I always liked her, also. Never thought about being her, though. I had blonde hair, but that's as far as it went. All I did when I was a teen is listen to songs like "Roses are Red" by Bobby Vinton. I was a romantic. :^:

Well, DH just got up, so I need to go. I go to the Neurologist today. I figure all that will happen this trip is to be sent for more tests. We'll see.

Hello to all of you, & have a good day.

02-15-2005, 11:06 PM
Ooh, Bluet, I love Rock Hudson and Doris Day movies, second only to James Garner and Doris Day movies. Did you know that Doris Day is a major animal lover and has a foundation? My rescue group got a grant from her foundation to help fund our spay/neuter work. I'm betting that's not why you wanted to be Doris Day, though. :) She was awfully cute and perky with that blonde hair. Did you see that one where she was lost on a deserted island, and came back just as her husband (James Garner) was about to get married? I can't remember the name of it, but I saw it not all that long ago.

I would much rather have your weekend than my rushing around going here, there, and everywhere plus packing, packing, packing. Looks like you and Diane both spent time at kids' sporting events this weekend.

Charlotte, how spooky about the TV station website. Sounds like your DH went all out for Valentine's Day--how nice! Did you watch a chick flick? Hopefully a nice romantic comedy on V-Day. How was your trip to the neurologist? I'm hoping for some good news.

A busy day of appointments. I had a massage at 10:30 am, followed by a haircut (the wife of the massage therapist--they work out of their home), then to the P.O. and bank. Lots of phone calls to make when I got home. My son kind of screwed up our moving plans because he misplaced his driver's license, but we worked it out. Unfortunately, my DH has to drive my son back to Seattle, then come back down to Corvallis in one day. Got the newspapers started down there, scheduled the heating oil to be measured, and got some of the other utilities turned off here and turned on there. Then I went to the doctor at 2:15 pm where I learned that I don't have a heart murmur. My doctor said only a really good cardiologist or a new doctor out of residency could hear a heart murmur where one didn't exist several months ago. The disability doctor looked about my son's age, so we're thinking that he didn't hear correctly. I was pretty sure that was the case, but glad that my own doctor confirmed that. I had that cardiology workup less than a year ago, with the cardiologist who convinced me with her behavior that if ever I were to have another chest pain, I should keep it to myself.

It was an absolutely gorgeous day here, although cold and a bit windy. Snow covered mountains, deep blue sound, and gorgeous blue sky. The sunset was so lovely that we had to go to the beach for dinner (fish and chips, of course) just so we could sit inside and watch the sunset. Then we'd look the other way and see the lights of the downtown buildings and the Space Needle. I have to say that Seattle is the most beautiful metropolitan area I've ever seen. Don't want to live here, but I can enjoy the scenery while I'm still here.

Hope everyone has a wonderful Wednesday! Diane and SunnyD, hope you had a nice V-Day.

02-16-2005, 12:07 AM
Good Evening,

Yes, I prefer James Garner with Doris Day over Rock Hudson. I have just about all of her movies on video. I have a book about her too, written by her son, that my Mom found at a rummage sale. I have seen the one about the island several times. I love that movie. I get such a kick how Doris, Garner and Hudson suffer such atrocities from one another. Yes I know Doris was a huge animal lover. In fact she had that ranch out there in the west some place for all her animals. They show a clip of it on one of my movie videos of her. I never could have pulled off the blonde hair though. I wasn't the blonde in the family, my sister next to me was. All the teenage boys were nuts over my sister.

Charlotte, I just remembered something you had said in one of your posts about not asking you to give up your morning donut and coffee. I would never ask you to give up your donut and coffee. :) That would have to come from you wanting to give it up by following the steps. :) Some people never do all seven steps and some people never give up their sugar or their caffiene. I wonder too what your neurologist had to say today. Certainly hope it is good news. That sure is spooky about the stations website. Hopefully they won't be back and hopefully it was just some prankster kids trying to see what they could get away with.

Goodness, Sheila, you are just about outta there aren't you? I have always heard Seattle is a gorgeous place. And the weather can be so fine too. So how are your dog and cats doing today? They are going to be really confused when they get to Corvallis. Glad to hear you don't have a heart murmur. Just what you needed, something else to worry about.

Sunny, where are you young lady? Are you still working on that office? How's your weather been? After the slush, snow, ice mess we got colder temperatures, so now where ever we walk outside it goes crunch, crunch, crunch. My goodness, I need Spring! This is the first year that I have watched Idol from the beginning. Man, they sure put those kids through the ringer. My little blonde country girl is still in the competion, singing her little heart out. I don't like that chick that was so hard on that little Asian girl last week, I definately will not be cheering for her. So there, I said it, got that off my chest. More Idol tomorrow night and then, and then, SURVIVOR and CSI on Thursday.

Diane, we are missing you again. Please let us know how you are doing.

Well, 10:00 gotta get to bed. Accountant is coming tomorrow, Oh yea. :p

Take care all........Bonnie

Good afternoon my dear friends hope all is well with you.

I am feeling pretty good, I went to Curve's this morning for the first time in 7 wks. and did the workout just fine. :D Thanks for all your kind words.

Charlotte how scary for you all, hard to believe that people are able to do that. What did you hear from the Dr.?

Sheila wow you are one busy woman, glad to hear you don't have a heart murmur. What did that Dr. mean by keeping chest pain to yourself?

Sunny how are you?

Bluet I desperately need to get rid of sugar and caffeine out of my life, I think I may try it. I have got to get rid of some lbs., have really gained quite abit since Christmas and alot of stress eating. :(

Time for me to go fix some supper, hope everyone had a great day.

Luv ya all, Diane

02-16-2005, 08:41 PM
Good evening (well, almost here) to you all! Where's our SunnyD? Did her office swallow her up?

Bluet, how was the accountant's visit? Does he (or she) come every month to check up on things? Hope the OB's staying out of your way. The cats are acting rather loony and knocking stuff over, too. They just can't resist a box. Plus we've given away their prime napping areas (two loveseats we gave to my son), and they're definitely not happy about that. They hate riding in cars, mostly because that means going to the kennel or vet. The dog likes to go in the car, but he gets so excited that he whines the whole time he's riding.

Candlelady, we're definitely going to give the sugarless thing a try once I get settled, although Charlotte doesn't have to give up her morning doughnut. Wonder if they make sugar-free doughnuts? Yum, wouldn't that taste good--not! Oh, the doctor didn't tell me not to mention chest pain, but she was so horrible to me after I told her I was experiencing chest pain that I complained about her. My GP said yesterday that the cardiologist can be "flippant" (her words) when it turns out the patient doesn't have heart disease. I say celebrate that fact, not humiliate the patient. I'm right there with you on the stress eating. For me, eating is self-medication during times of stress. And I'm experiencing a high level of stress right now--and tight jeans. :( Glad you're back at Curves!

Our last day at water aerobics. We plan to find a place in Corvallis where we can go. We've gotten into a good routine here that we want to continue. I plan to go to a Weight Watchers meeting the first week I'm there. I think I'll start anew with a clean weigh-in book, but I'll keep my old books so that I can prove I really did lose 100 lbs (or 90+, depending on where I end up). I just read that Oprah weighs 163 at 5'6" and she's looking so good on TV. I was going to try to get to 161, which would be 100 lbs. lost, but if I can look as good as she does weighing 165 or so (I'm 5'9"), I'd be very happy. I would like to wear a single digit size at least once in my adult life.

Another gorgeous day, and all the cherry trees are in bloom. Spring is really here in this part of the country. My forsythia (oh, no, it's not mine anymore!) is turning yellow and there are a bunch of white flowers out in the backyard, too. I don't think the daffodils will bloom before we leave, but it won't be too long.

Hope all you wonderful ladies have a great evening, and a wonderful Thursday!

02-16-2005, 09:20 PM

Hi everybody...
Well, the beautiful spring-like weather is over again, for a few days. It's getting cold.

Sheila...I'm so glad you don't have a heart murmur. It's good you went & had it checked might have worried about it a lot. I know I would. Are you moved completely, yet? I know you'll be glad when it's over.

Hi Bluet...glad I don't have to give up my doughnut & coffee. :D Maybe if I start giving up other sugars, it'll help me want to give that up, also. I just love sweets so much! I always have.

Hi Candlelady....Glad you're feeling better. Take care of yourself.

SunnyD...Where are you?

Well, I went to the Dr yesterday. He ran some tests in the office. He said my thumb problems are definitely from my neck. The circulation is being cut off. In fact, it's that way on the whole right side of my body. That side was weaker in the tests, also. He's very concerned about that, & put me on Trental to try to help with the blood flow, until all testing is done. Next, he confirmed that 5 disks in a row are in trouble. He first wants to rule out RA in the spine. I knew that would be a large concern. I go next Wednesday for MRI's on my neck to find out how bad the disks are, & the Radiologist will be able to tell him if RA is involved. Then, I go back to him the following Monday. (23rd) I told him that I had been researching it, so I knew how serious it could be. He said after 20 yrs of being my Neurologist, he knew that I had been. :^: He wanted to know why my Rheumatologist had told me so much about the results of my test. I told him that I ask about it, so he was obligated to give me the results & answer my questions. He just smiled, & nodded his head. I have to keep wearing this stupid cervical careful with my movements, etc. & wait & see. I didn't ask, but believe the danger of the blood not circulating right, & weakness on one side is danger of a stroke. Isn't life wonderful!!!!!!!! It'll be ok. I've been in tight situations before.

Gotta go, girls. Love you all. Have a good evening!

02-17-2005, 12:08 AM

OHHHHHHHHH {{{{{Charlotte}}}}} that doesn't sound good at all. I wish it were better news. You will be fine though, there is stength in prayer. :) Yes, you have the right idea Charlotte, you get really solid on all seven steps one at a time and starting cutting back on sugar and eventually you will lose the desire for sugar. Substitue sugar isn't allowed, because it spikes you and crates a craving for sugar, so does caffeine. But you baby step through the whole process and only move when your body tells you you are ready for the next step. One gets really connected to oneself and gets good at sensing what ones body needs. I read something interesting in SARP the other night. Most people with arthritis cannot tolerate wheat, it aggravates the arthritis symptoms. White flour is out, we have to only eat healthy whole grain bread. I wonder what we will come up with for your brown Charlotte. If we ask Kathleen, (the books author) she will help us.

There is a thread on the RR website, where you can go for support and ask questions and people on the program for a long time will help you work through any food or mood problems you are experiencing. I used to go there a lot, and found good support when I was a newbie. Sometimes Kathleen chimes in and helps with the problems, you can tell it is her because she has a potato symbol after her name. :)

Yes, Sheila, the accountant comes every month and checks up on things, and that dang general ledger better be right or he goes off the deep end. He got delayed at another firm in town and is coming back on Monday, so I will be seeing him on Monday. Actually he is a very nice likeable person. :) OB is as obnoxious as ever. I try not to think of him. :p And avoid him like the bubonic plague. You have a good plan for your health when you move, it is always good to have a plan. ;) You will do well in RR, since you are an excercise nut. Excercise is lacking in my program. Actually they call it movement. Just so happy for you Sheila, that spring has arrived in are such a brat to keep rubbing it in. :D Just kidding, I really am happy for you all the time.

Hey Diane, Curves....thats pretty darn good. So glad you are feeling better then. You didn't tell us what was for supper. Something good I'll bet. ;)

Ok, Sunny time to get on back here, you know we are worried about you. :?:

Well, it is 10:00 again, funny how fast that rolls around. Survivor Thursday tomorrow, suppose to be interesting, they are put on an island without anything but the clothes they are wearing. I can see there are going to be some pretty owly people with that one. Sounds pretty darn inconvient to me. ;)

Bye for now...Bonnie

02-17-2005, 08:45 PM
Good evening everyone,

I am so sorry to concern you all --- I haven't been well. I just wrote to Bonnie and then thought I would take a moment and stop by myself. I have been very ill with my gut - it all caught up to me after my birthday (I guess I cannot spurge at all). I have been good since then, but I still got sick. I have been on rice protein drinks the last 3 days and will stay on till I feel better. I told Bonnie that today was my first really good day. I will try to stop in tomorrow to catch up with each of you, okay. It sure doesn't take long to fall behind. Thank you for not forgetting about me ;) It's nice to be missed... I feel a little weepy & over-sensitive when I am ill like this.

I did get my office all cleaned before I got sick :D

Hope all is going well for everyone...
Thinking of you everyday & miss you!!
*God Bless*
Love you gals!

02-17-2005, 09:50 PM

Just a short note to say hi to everyone, and I'll be back next week to read up and post. Am shutting off the computer and packing everything up so we can be out of here tomorrow.

02-17-2005, 10:57 PM

Well Bluet...tomorrow's finally Friday for you. ;) I sure do wish you liked your job better. I've got to where I dread Monday, because you've got to go back to work. :^: Gee......I need a life! :dizzy: No, really...I do think about you. It's suppose to rain here all week end. I hope the sun shines for you. :D
I'm going to start researching the kinds of foods I need to eat that help with RA, & the ones to avoid. So when we start the program, I'll be more educated on it.
The Remicade has kicked in & I'm feeling a lot better. My neck hurts a lot, though, especially when I take the stupid collar off.

SunnyD...So sorry you've been sick. I had a feeling that you were. Get better soon.

Sheila...looking forward to your next post....from your new home!!

Talk to all of you tomorrow. Have a good evening.

02-17-2005, 11:55 PM
Oh darn, now where is Diane? Everyones here but Diane. Well little Texas Star hope you are feeling ok tonight. :)

Charlotte that is a good idea to check on what would be good for your RA food wise. You will be a step ahead when you all start. You can substitue wheat with brown rice pasta, Wasa crackers or oatmeal. The potato plays a large part in the RR plan, and the potato is also a trigger for people with arthritis, so we will have to watch that and find a sub for the potato if it bothers your arthritis. My job has it ups and downs, just like most jobs, but I have to say the management in this place is unique. Thank you for your concern, you are a real Sweetheart Charlotte. I am so glad you are feeling better, we always miss you when the Remicade starts wearing off.

Sunny, thank you for the personal email, I was getting worried that you weren't going to answer my pm. I thought perhaps something happened back home and you had to travel there. I have been meaning to tell you Sunny, since I got steady on the RR program, I have rid myself of IBS. I think it was getting rid of the sugary stuff and I used to drink a lot of diet Pepsi. Now that I eat three meals a day with two planned snacks of protein and whole grain bread and a vegetable the IBS is pretty much gone. :) Get better soon, we miss your posts!!

Sheila, well you probably won't post until next week, just the same I wish you all the best in your move ( I bet it is really exciting in a way) Looking forward to hearing how life is in Covallis.

Have a wonderful Friday everyone...........Love....Bonnie

02-18-2005, 11:05 AM Good Morning Gals,

First off... I want to send my BEST WISHES out to Sheila as she makes her move... I am so very sorry I wasn't here during this last week. I missed so much :( Sheila, Would you send us your NEW ADDRESS in a PM when you get a moment & are back up on the computer?? I have something I wanted to send to you ;) I too look forward to hearing from you after you are into your new home :D

Sheila, (In case you can read, but cannot post) As for the snow here... most times it melts and then snows again, but lately it's been pretty cold and the snowing has been rather light, nothing has melted lately. It looks really pretty today :) Sunshine and snow all stuck to the trees --- really pretty. I too am so very happy to hear that your Dr. did not find a murmur! :cp:

Your poor furry babies!!! It will take time, but they will adjust to your move. I will say a prayer that all your furry babies that they will adjust to their new home without too many problems. It is so very hard on them because they don't understand that kind of change & then the 'stress' makes them ill... animals like routine. *Prayers* for you, your hubby, your DF and all of your furry kids as you make this big move!

Not much to tell from my corner of the world... pretty much have been on the sofa or in bed the last few days. I did get my office cleaned and I got several cards made for all the February Birthday's & Anniversaries before I got real sick. When I start to spasm like I do - there's not much "sitting" for me... I have to lay on my side with a heating pad on my tummy to calm it down. I am feeling so much better today and as each day passes.

OHHHHHHHHHHHHH... ... I almost forgot!!! :o
 Our Valentine's Day!!
Joe came home with a dozen beautiful yellow roses and a DvD of the movie *The Notebook* (starring James Garner) for my gift. What a Beautiful *Love Story* ladies!!! I love, love, love James Garner!!! I wonder if he's really as caring as he is in his movies?? I enjoyed him in *Ya Ya Sisterhood* too - another great movie (that I got as a gift from Joe)! Have any of you seen the movie *The Notebook*? It's sad, but at the same time leaves you with this "ain't LOVE Beautiful* feeling. I highly recommend the movie to rent or buy... you will watch it again and again!! So, to say the least, Joe & I had a beautiful Valentine's Day together :goodvibes

Hi Bonnie, You are too funny!!!! I still watch those Rock Hudson & Doris Day films!!!! So you are not alone there... And my sister-in-law always loved Doris Day --- she loves to sing with her because her voice was lower --- me too :D

As for that program *Radiant Recovery* you have mentioned sounds better and better to me everyday! I have gotten through the detox stage now I think... it's been a week this past Wednesday that I have been off sugar. Today I will have my rice protein drinks again and then we'll have our fish dinner tonight. I have been feeling so much better since I have been on them and so I think I will stay on the drinks till I lose the pounds I put back on in my splurging in the last two months. You see, I don't think it was just my birthday splurge that got me ill --- I think that it was an accumulation since December! And it just catches up with me. I will have to do more reading on the program you have mentioned and maybe by the time Sheila settles in to her new home we can all give it a try? In the meantime... I think I am well on my way...

What did you think of the way they changed *Survivor*?? I thought they made it very interesting!!! Didn't you?!? Voting off 3 people right off the bat like that... I was glad to see Wanda the singer get voted off, she was rather annoying... nice person I am sure, but annoying.

And *CSI-Vegas* Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwweeeeeeeeeeeeeee :p !!! The whole concept of that show was rather sick, wasn't it? I didn't even know that fantasies like that existed and I think I could have gone my whole life without knowing that :dizzy: Why do I watch it? Cuz it's a good show! Like Sheila --- I too like the interaction between the characters and the way they find out the answers. Even next week looks like they will be getting into allot of the "Vegas" lives - gross! I just may have to rethink my watching it if they continue with this line of stories... :chin: The rhino & elephant story in last weeks show bothered me allot!!!! I adore animals and hate to see any form of cruelty!! I recorded my other shows & haven't seen them yet... just couldn't stay awake past 10:00 last night.

*American Idol* My little country girl pick is still in the last 24 and the *Clay* look-alike blonde spiked hair guy with glasses is too. I will get their names when I see it again next week. This is my favortie part when the good singers a remaining and you get to hear them by themselves.

Hi Angel, Thanks for the prayers You always make me SMILE :D --- I love your sense of humor! Loved the hiney on the bike ;) Cute!

As for your friend, Connie... what a super gift idea!!!! I have never gotten my nails done - never! What a treat that had to be for her! You did real good!!! :cp: I love trying to think of different ways to give gifts too... it is very easy to get caught up in giving *Gift Cards* isn't it. Although, with all the teens I still give $$ or GC's - it's safer :^: And her party sounded wonderful too --- so glad that it all went so well and that she had such a good time.

:o Iraq Hackers!!!! :o You are not kidding!!!! So glad that you don't have them on there any longer, but how scary!!

I was wondering if you just might not ache so much if you did stop eating those doughnuts in the morning... there is so much sugar and fat in those and I am sure that they add to your pain. I know that it adds to mine! That's why I wanted to mention it to you... it may be something to think about giving up for the benefit of your health, find something a bit better for you in the mornings with your cup of coffee ;) Just a thought... I sure do not want to offend you, but I do care (very much) and know that those buggers are so not good for your arteries :o much less anything else in your body. I honestly cannot remember the last time I had a doughnut, although... I have longed to take a huge bite into a custard one (did I really say that?! ) Do you know that there has been many studies prooving that sugar has caused allot of people health problems. It depletes the body of oxygen and that's why after you have something with sugar in it you will feel it in the parts of the body you hurt the most and feel sleepy. That's what happens to me anyway. Not that sugar - per say - is bad for you, I think it's the abuse of it that is... again, everything in balance. Balance? What's that? :dz: All done :soap: I think I went off like I have because I have just gone through so much myself... so please, don't be offended by what I had to say --- I think I just spent all this time reminding myself of why I need to watch while I wrote this to you :p ;)

Well, you still want some snow??? I'd be glad to send some your way! We got another 6 inches here where we live in the last 2 days. And we went from 60* on Tuesday to 18* this morning!! We get our hopes up for nice Springlike weather and then 'Mother Nature' goes nah nah... it's still Winter... remember!?

I totally know what you mean with being a bit "sad" after a bout of being ill --- I felt that way too! Pain really works on your moods, doesn't it!?! I am so sorry that your thumb does have to do with your spine... how long do you have to wear that collar??? What a pain in the neck :o did I really say that... sorry :sorry: I do hope that you are doing better today... I know that you will never be totally without pain, but you do have good days and bad ---- I hope that this is a *Good Day* for you :goodvibes

Hi Diane, I am so sorry to find out that you are so ill with that darn disease, emphysema!! What will the Dr's do for you to help??? Will you be okay??!!?? I really don't know much about the disease...

As for the weight-gain since Christmas, me too! I gained 7 lbs and have lost 3.5 of them, but cannot seem to get the last few off again. I would help allot if I would get back into my walking again on a regular basis! :dizzy: I did well when I walked regularly. Hope you do well too. *Prayers*

Well, I guess I will sign off for now... I have a few more cards to finish up before Sunday. So many birthday's this month :)

Love you gals!

02-19-2005, 06:58 AM
Good Sat. Morning girls, hope you have an exciting week end planned. I don't have much going on here except tomorrow is my 53rd. birthday so the kids are coming over and we are going out to breakfast which will be nice.

Sunny interesting thing you wrote about the sugar which I didn't know that it depletes oxygen and makes you pain worse. I have been consuming massive amounts of sugar lately so today I am going to try to ween myself off. I have such a bad hip and leg that hurt all the time am anxious to observe and see if it will help. I also need all my oxygen I can get. I am so glad you are feeling better, I have exercised three times this week and did pretty good and felt so much better mentally. This mental thing getting used to having a disease is hard but I am trying hard also.

Hi Charlotte bless your heart you are going through so much and I want you to know I am praying for you.

Sheila I know you won't read this until you get there but I am wishing you alot of strength and energy during your move. I hate to move such a big job, but it is the only time I get rid of alot of clutter.

Bonnie you are so sweet calling me a little :D Texas star, wish that little was true. I know you are glad it is the week end and I hope you have a great one.

Love you girls have a wonderful day....Diane

02-19-2005, 08:43 AM
Good Morning Diane,

about the sugar... just try to do it with one small difference a day, okay. Otherwise it may be too overwhelming for you to do. Not only does sugar deplete you of oxygen, but it causes inflamation. That's also why it makes you ache more. Try to eat natural sugars from fruit (especially apples) when you get a craving and it will help you to get through the sugar withdrawals. Exercise is also a great way to make changes and you are doing very well in that catagory... give yourself a pat-on-the-back there :smug: Keep up the good work, Diane and your 53rd year will be a much healthier one, you'll see ;)

As for tomorrow...

♪♪ TO YOU... TO YOU... DEAR Diane... TO YOUuuuuuuuu! ♪♪

I hope you have a *WONDERFUL DAY* tomorrow!
The Bestest year ahead! Loves,

hi everyone.
i think i might be new to this thread. if i'm not that's fine by me. hope this finds all of you doing well this week. i lost 4 lbs this last week. that was one of my hightlights. my husband took me to see "million dollor baby". it's a good movie. funny, thoughtful and sad. the actors are all great. i don' know how eastwood produces, directs and acts all at the same time. the man has a gift. brought me carnations. they are one of my favorite flowere. these were courgeous. yellow with red around the edges.
sunny i'm with you on CSI. i was just telling my husband the other night when we were watching it. that is starting to get really wacked out in some of there stuff lately. i didn't even watch it last week. the first few minutes of the start were enough for me. i've watched since it began. but i will find something else if this keeps up. i've watched the survivor since the second one. got hooked and have enjoyed for the most part. well everyone have a good weekend. stay true to yourself. treat yourselves well.
kind regards,

Good Evening,

First of all I want to wish Diane a very Happy Birthday. Sorry, I am a little late, but I wish all the best just the same. I hope you enjoyed your day and your daughter's cake that she made for you. :)

Then, I would like to welcome Mary to our group. I hope you like us and decide to stay, we will always be here to support you in your weight loss plan or any other way that your need our cyber help. Congratulations on losing another 4 pounds.

I am sorry I was gone all weekend, I was really busy. Friday night I decided that "I" would do something about the dirty carpet in the front office at work and stayed until 8:30 cleaning with a product call Host and a machine driven brush. The dirt was really giving me a dickens of a time, so after about the third or fourth time of going over the carpet, I decided to go home and try again on Saturday. I was exhausted when I got home Friday evening. Saturday morning I went back to work and cleaned the carpet again. There were still some dirt stains in the walk areas so I put some of the compound down in the walk ways rushed home showered and changed and drove to Green Bay to watch oldest Grandson play in a basketball tournament. I had grandaughter that lives next door with me. After the tournament we drove home, and grandaughter decided she wanted to play at Grandma's house for awhile. Then around four o'clock I took her home and went back to work and cleaned the floor for the last time. The carpet looks better, than before, but still could look better yet. On Sunday we had a big snowstorm, but I was on to be sacristan and DH was chairman of the snowshoveling committe for church, so off we go to church at 6:30 a.m. DH to snow shovel and me to get everything ready for 8:00. Then I had to wait around for the 10:00 service because the snowstorm outside was relentless and the guys had to keep the sidewalks shoveled. We were able to go home around 10:30, DH and I had some breakfast read the paper and then took a nap. I stayed in for the rest of the day and let the snow storm do it's thing outside. DH had to go back to church and help shovel the sidewalks around church one more time. This morning the roads were trecherous again for driving to work. So that was my fantastic weekend.

Diane, I envy the fact that you could sit outside in 70 degree weather, I just can't stand winters anymore.

Sunny, did you watch Idol tonight. The boys were really playing it safe, weren't they? A little disappointing I think. Do you call in and vote? I hope the girls are braver tomorrow night. I can't even talk about last week's CSI. That was the most absolute revolting CSI to date. You are right, one could go their whole lifetime and not even have to see that show or know about it. According to the previews, I don't think I am going to be too keen on this weeks show either. Did you happen to get all this snow that we got too? It was heavy wet stuff too, not that light fluffy stuff.

Charlotte, how are you feeling? Was your weekend busy too? Is everything ok with the station's website?

Sheila, hope you are going to be back soon. Hope your new apartment is getting settled and isn't overwhelming you. We miss you. :)

Have a great Tuesday Bonnie

Hello Everybody,

I'm new here. This site feels a bit awkward to me. I don't even know if I'm doing this right. I'm 52, and have well over100 lbs. to lose. I'm hoping to find other ladies over 50 to communicate with. I love these young girls, but the issues of losing weight change over 40, and especially over 50. Don't you think? It used to be for looks. Now it's a serious health issue. Plus, during menopause, it just doesn't come off that easy anymore. So, I hope that I'm on the right thread. If I'm not, could you please redirect me. Thanks.

02-22-2005, 09:10 AM

Sorry I'm late welcoming you. I've enjoyed reading your posts. You're doing well with your weight loss, & hope you'll stay with us.

You're absolutely at the right place! You don't even have to be over 50 (SunnyD isn't), but, you're IS harder to lose & maintain as we get older. Stay with us, here. We all encourage each other in weight loss, & well as life's ups & downs!
I'm 55, have twin daughters (36) another daughter (31) & a son (25) & 11 grands! A wonderful husband, who puts up with a lot from me. I've been on SS Disability since I was 36 due to an auto accident that messed up my back. I have severe Osteo Arthritis. Then, 2 1/2 yrs ago I was diagnosed with severe Rheumatoid Arthritis. I try to keep my weight down, mostly to help with health issues, but it would be nice to look as well as I can, also. :D I do volunteer work 3 days a week at a local Christian TV Station, as the for the evening news, weather, etc., host of program "Spotlight on Churches", & my own program "Vision of Heaven", where I do a little singing. This helps me to get out of the house, & not lay around so much. I enjoy it tremendously....+ it keeps me from wanting to gain too much weight! :dizzy: I also go to "Assisted Living" to sing with my BIL. I used to do more, until this darn RA got me down. The main goal is to stay as active as helps others & myself also. Drink LOTS of water!!

Hi Bluet....yes, so far, everything is normal with the station's website. Maybe it was just kids from Iraq that hacked into it. Sure was scarey to see that on the screen, though. :(
Well, your weekend of fighting the snow just, almost, made me not want to see any! I don't think I'm going to. Still seeing a lot of rain, though. DH has got the decking on the roof, now. He's got to get the paper & shingles on. His work has picked up, so he's having to bring in a little money. Really needed around here, so roof's gotta wait. Cleaning carpet!! Then, the ARE a busy lady!
I did have a busy weekend, but not the way you did. DH's aunt passed away, so we were going back & forth to the viewing & funeral. They live 1 1/2 hrs drive (Huntsville), so everything took time. DH's dad has Alziemer's, & she was his sister, so we had to watch him closely. So sad.

Hi SunnyD...glad you're feeling better. I think Valentine's Day & Birthday's (Connie's, here) took a toll on a lot of stomach's. I know you really suffer, because of my twin daughters being like that. They just won't watch their diet, though. Except for soft drinks....they've cut them out. Helps a little. Sounds like you had a very nice VD!
You asked about the cervical collar. For now, I'm wearing it to keep my neck stabilized until surgery. I'm having to go through testing, & it's taking some time. I go Wednesday (tomorrow) to get MRI's done. Neurologist is hoping this will rule out RA in the spine. With 5 discs in my neck involved, I don't need to make it any worse. Also, with the circulation being as bad as it is. I was so surprised when he tested me & found my whole right side was effected....blood flow, weakness, etc. He took pics of my thumb. I wanted to ask him why he did that, but thought he might think it a dumb question. (I am blonde. ) I go back to him Monday.
You did not offend me about the sugar. I know you care. It'll take a lot more than doughnuts to interfere with our friendship.....although I may fight you for a doughnut!! I know I don't need sugar...but I've had the problem all my life. Even when I was skinny......yes, I used to weigh 98 lbs....underweight....can you believe that!! Anyway, I've ALWAYS had issues with sweets. When I was in the 3rd grade, my Dr took me off of all sweets for a solid year! I remember, I was going to a little country school....& the stuents took up for me & I received large grocery bags full of chips, nuts, etc that I could have for snacks, other than sweets. I'll never forget what they did! Anyway, if I'm able to conquer my problem with you girls, it will be a real accomplishment. I don't know why I'm that way...but, I crave it.

Sheila....get moved....we're waiting on you! :)

Everyone have a good Tuesday!

Hello from sunny Corvallis!

Two new people--welcome! I think we're an incredibly cool group of supportive people, and we hope you'll stick around. I, too, had 100 lbs. to lose, and managed to get off 82 of it until the holidays hit. Got back to work and, like SunnyD, shed about half of my 7 lb. gain. However, this moving thing always causes me to self-medicate with food (I looked back at the last three times I've moved and each time the minute we found out we were moving, I started to eat uncontrollably--it's pathetic :( ), and I'm sad to say, I had to buy a new pair of pants in a bigger size. I'm bummed, but determined to get to my goal of 100 lbs. lost this year. We're planning on giving reducing/eliminating sugar a shot because we've all been impressed with Bluet's results and good health. In fact, thinking about it, she's the healthiest darn person on this thread, and I want to be just like her!

SunnyD, hope you're feeling a whole lot better now and are able to get up and around. I've read a little about IBS and have heard that you really, really have to watch what you eat or all heck breaks loose. Yeah, I could have lived my whole life without knowing about that particular weird fantasy life. Haven't seen the previews for this week's show, but will have to check it out before I watch. Sometimes I flip to Extreme Makeover because it's such a happy show with people transforming their lives and feeling better about themselves.

Will you all forgive me if I don't respond to everyone's post? I'm tired, and the setup for the laptop is uncomfortable. After fussing around with who was going to drive the truck and how to work getting my son back to Seattle, we ended up with my DH driving the truck, and my DS driving me and all the pets in his truck. It was definitely a comfortable ride, except for the meowing and whining. Okay, and my son's driving was a bit much for me, but we made it all in one piece.

I realized we went from a 2400 s.f. house in Boise to a 1300 s.f. house in Seattle, and now we're in a 790 s.f. apartment. Now that's downsizing! The major problem was where to put the cat boxes! The first night we were there, we had to put the cats in the second bedroom (which will be my DH's office) because my son had to sleep on the couch. The cats would have been all over him all night if we hadn't shut them up. About 5:00 am, I was awakened by a noise that I thougth was the cats banging on the door a little bit. I eventually went back to sleep, but heard the noise again about 6:00 am. After getting up an hour later, I went to feed and let the cats out and saw that they had dug up about a 50 cent sized piece of carpet from around the door. Aargh! We're there 24 hours and they've managed to destroy the place! Then my dog was on a barking jag and we realized we couldn't go anyplace without taking him because he'd disturb the neighbors. Apartment living definitely is not for me.

But the good news is that we put an offer down on a house. We should know by 6:00 pm tonight. Cross your fingers for us.

Oh, Charlotte, I had to laugh when you asked SunnyD if she had a good VD. When I was growing up, VD meant something other than Valentine's Day!

02-22-2005, 09:12 PM
Oh Sheila!! You made me blush! :o I know what VD meant, also :^: I didn't even think of that! We won't tell SunnyD, she's probably too young to know what we're talking about, so maybe I didn't embarrass her. ;)

WOW.....that apartment is about 1/3 the size of your original house. I know it must be rough We don't like apartments either. We stayed in one for 6 months after the housefire. We didn't have any pets, there. Just came home each day to feed the horses. We could hear everything going on around us, & knew they could hear us. Hated it! I always dreaded the widowed lady next to us coming home in the evening. Her TV was WAYYYY too loud! :^: I do hope you get the house you want.

Just found out that our SIL's dad got back from Iraq yesterday!!! Hopefully, this will help our SIL. He's had a rough time, since he got back, last year. Our soldiers have been through a lot.

Hope everyone has a good evening.

02-23-2005, 08:31 AM

Goodness Gracious!!! Is that Sheila??!! I am so glad to see you back! :cp: :dancer:

I haven't read the posts yet since I was last here on the 19th! I cannot believe I have been gone for 3 days :o I wasn't getting any e-mails, so I didn't realize that anyone had been posting!! I wonder why I wasn't getting my e-mails :( They must just stop coming if you don't stop by...

Okay... I'm gonna go read your posts, so I can catch up with you all :D

02-23-2005, 10:21 AM

Good Morning Everyone!!!

Hi Sheila!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :flow2: I am so glad to see you back already! :D
I really missed you and so did everyone else here!

Have you heard anything on your offer on that house??? :crossed:

You'll get that weight off again Sheila... stress really does a number on you. Once you get settled you'll be fine. I am so glad to hear you have :sunny: Sunshine (I only wish!!!)

I am sorry to say that I am still not feeling up-to-par, Sheila :( But I am giving it a good go! I have been on Rice Protein Drinks for the last week with the exception of going out on Monday (which set me back again). I haven't budged in weight-loss and I really think that it has to do with the fact that I haven't walked! :nono: It's been weeks! I haven't even posted on the walking thread I began because I have not kept it up --- I just feel so tired and the spasms get worse after I walk the T-Mill. I so hope that this book I am reading (that I mentioned to Angel) will help me. He gives you a 3 day program of cleaning to follow, but I have to go shopping. First I am going to check it all out on the net and get an idea of $$$$ :o I am afraid that I won't be able to pay for half of the stuff he mentions in the books. Allot of natural, organic foods... very costly!

How are your furry kids doing??? Just remember... if you are feeling stress, so are they. They pick up from you as well as their own stresses... they will act out. I will say a prayer that you will be able to handle them till you get into your new home and that you don't lose any of them. Especially with your Cats --- they will try to go back to their home when you let them out. I will say a prayer that they stay close to you, whatever you have to do. As long as you are around they should be okay... just give them allot of hugs :smug:

Hi Angel, VD... You two are too funny!!! Oh... I am not that young :lol3: I know what VD is :o ;) Love you gals!!!!

I was feeling better... then I went out with our friends on Monday (Presidents Day)... I got sick all over again! That's why I haven't been on the computer in 3 days... trying to get better. I haven't walked in weeks, because of the extreme tiredness I feel. I HATE feeling this tired... I don't mean sleepy (I wish) I mean exhausted, as if I ran a marathon or something. This gut is really taking a toll on me. I got this book that I have been reading titled *Patient, Heal Thyself* The guy that wrote the book was so very ill in comparison to me and he got better... so I am going to give some of his ideas a try. There are allot of similarities to Bonnie's program (if I recall correctly - *Radiant Health*)... all I know is that I want to be healthy enough to try anything. His book is very "in depth" to go into here (I am overwhelmed by it all right now), but I will let you and the other gals know how it goes "when" I begin to go on it. He is very extreme, but I am going to try to figure out what I havta do to get my energy back. I feel like sleeping all the time lately.

Oh... I am so glad I didn't offend you ;) I must admit... I did have some dark chocolate covered pistachio's at the movies on Monday :sorry: SOOOoooooo I am not gonna brag about staying off sugars, I just try my best! I forgot :dz: when my girlfriend offered them to me and grabbed me a handful without thinking... oh well. I just began again the next day, I didn't have that much.

Charlotte, please come back soon and let us all know how your MRI went today, okay. *Prayers*

*Welcome* MissMuffet,
yes... you are on the correct thread :) It's very nice to meet you :flow1: I am not yet 50 (as Angel mentioned ;) ) but have been warmly welcomed here. I just turned 48, but have many health issues, so it's great to be able to come to these gals for advice and encouragement. You will love it here!

Hi Bonnie, Whew!!! :faint: I am exhausted just reading your post!!! No wonder you were gone for a bit --- you were up to your ears in carpet! :p Reading your post reminds me that I have to get mine done soon. We have our own machine, so that makes it nice. With the cats we really needed to buy our own machine, got us a Bissell Upright... nice. I try to get ours done every Spring and Fall. Do you get paid for doing their cleaning at work? Did they notice that you did it?!?

Sounds like your granddaughter really enjoys her grandmother ;)

As for the snow... we got hit too! Joe got called out to work on Sunday (he had to go :( ) and about 20 minutes after he got home the storm really hit. Not allot of snow, but allot of wind and blowing snow - making it very hard to see where you are going. I was very happy to have him home & safe.

YES! I saw *American Idol* and agree with you and the judges very much! I really enjoyed that one guy Bo Bice... but then I thought they were all pretty good. I think that their songs were all what are considered "safe songs", like the judges said, and most were... I also enjoyed Anthony Fedorov (the trake kid - blonde with glasses) & I thought the Jazz guy (the last guy) I think his name was Mario Vazquez was pretty good too... it's gonna be real tough!!! The girls were easier for me to pick... I LOVE that country girl!! Her name is Carrie Underwood --- I think she will make it into the final 2 (I hope!) If not... I think that someone will pick her up, she is just too good! The other gal I really enjoyed is that last one who sang, her name is Aloha Mischeaux. The other gal I am watching, but didn't like her song last night is the 16 year old, Mikalah Gordon... she's usually pretty good, but I didn't like her choice of song last night. I hope (in a way) she doesn't make it "just yet", she is so young to go into that business. It really changes them...

Hi Diane, I am so glad to read that you had such a nice birthday celebration... you so deserve it!

75*!!! What I wouldn't do to have some warmer temps and sunshine here again :flow1: You enjoy!! We have been getting really 'yucky' weather here... 30* and snowy. Over the weekend we got snow (about 4 inches) and then it went to rain... talk about a mess! Then it got cold again and snowed. So to say the least we had a few accidents here during the morning commutes to work.

*Welcome back, Mary*, So glad to see you have joined us again... you were here some time ago, but you were still learning how to get around the threads. You must be getting this stuff down now? Able to find your way around better :) good for you :D

:cp: :cheer: WooHoo for you getting down another 4 lbs! :cp: :cheer:
My weight hasn't moved at all :( Still haven't been feeling very well lately.

I haven't seen *Million Dollar Baby* yet, sounds good! Joe was off on Monday and so were our best buds, Mike & Peggy... so we all spent the day out together. We went to breakfast, went shopping and then caught a movie *Hitch* with Will Smith (a really cute movie!) and then we all went to an early dinner out. We had a real good time... but I pay such a price.

Yeah... all the CSI shows are great, but they have been getting a little gross these days :p

*Survivor* was so good! Too bad you missed it... but you can catch up real easy with this Thursdays show. They always recap the previous show :)

Time for me to get my day going... even though I don't feel like doing anything - I have lots to be done! Lent is a very busy time of year...

Love you gals!!
Please keep me in your prayers as I look into what to do to better my health. The one prgram I found (& mentioned to you all months ago) has helped, but it hasn't healed me... I want to be well and am hoping that this guy has some answers for me :crossed:

I always hold you close in my *prayers*

PS>>> I was just getting ready to sign off here, when I got a call from my hubby... he is taking this Friday off from work. A Dear lady friend from our church, Sherry, such a beautiful, gentle lady with such talent in playing classic piano (she played for us many years) and always with a smile --- died yesterday of cancer  She has been ill for such a long time. Joe will be leading the choir for her funeral service on Friday @ 1:00... so very sad

*Life is just so precious*

Good Morning,

Welcome Msmuffet, anything new feels awkward, but your post looked just fine to me. I hope you stay around for awhile to give us a try. You will find a lot of compasionate loving support here. :)

Mary, are you still around, if so check in with us. Just jump right in and join our conversations about important things and not so important things. :coffee:

I tried getting onto the internet last night and was not able to. Very frustrating. Ran a virus check on my computer, nothing showed up, so I hope it was just something with the server. (I am at work, talking about my computer at home.)

All Right!!!!! Sheila is back..........Sheila, please, please tell us that the home you put a bid on is the victorian of your dreams...please, please , please. Apartment dwelling is the pits, we did that the first year we were married. UGH!

Hey, Sunny, three days away from the thread is a no, no. ;) Aw shucks, I do it all the time too. :o Miss you when you are not around though.

Charlotte, thank goodness SIL's Dad is back, things have to turn around for the better for SIL soon. After what he has done for our country, it is not fair that he should have to struggle. :(

Now that Sheila is back, I think the first thing everyone should do is either go to the library, or go to thr RR site, or a bookstore and pick up a copy of the book Potatoes Not Prozac by Kathleen Des Maisons. Provided you want to try the no sugar, healthy eating way. Reading the first several chapters of this book will help you understand the theory of body chemistry and starting step one of the program which is to have breakfast within the first hour of rising, and have in that breakfast enough protein and carbohydrates for your body weight. Now the next thing you might tell me is, I don't eat breakfast, don't even like breakfast. :) Well, this is absolutely nothing new to me kids, I hated breakfast, breakfast made me ill, but now I never, ever miss breakfast no matter what. You will find in Kathleen's books recipes for protein shakes, a lot of people drink those. I am not a shake person, I have cottage cheese with Bob's Red Mill Oatmeal raw. The oatmeal has 5 different whole grains and flaxseed which contains omega 3. I just mix the cottage cheese and oatmeal together and that is my breakfast fast and easy. ;) Better than an ole' doughnut, don't you think Charlotte? :D I am no means an expert or am try to convince you I am an expert. All I know is I feel better when I am steady on the program and I was eventually able to lose twenty pounds and keep it off for two years now. As we read the books together and work the program together, and consult the RR website we will all learn more about healthy eating.

Gotta get back to work. Yea!!! Sheila is back!!!!....Love ya guys....Bonnie

02-24-2005, 07:15 AM

Good Morning Bonnie, Well... from what you wrote about a good breakfast I am starting off the day okay. I usually have a Rice Protein Drink or I'll make Cream of Rice Hot Cereal with Oatmeal mixed in it for my first meal of the day... I also take flaxseed Oil 3 times a day... :) and try to eat within 30 minutes of getting up. I didn't bookmark the site :sorry: would you mind leaving it again?

Well, I must make this short this morning...
Joe will be leaving for work soon and I must get his lunch made.

*Have A Good Day! :sunny:*
(Where is everyone :?: )

02-24-2005, 01:36 PM
Hi, y'all!

Charlotte, that's wonderful news about your SIL's Dad. We've been lucky with noise because I haven't heard a darn thing from either side. Hopefully they can't hear when I shout "No!" at my cats who are enjoying clawing the carpet and furniture. :( So when is your appointment??

Bluet, no, not the house of my dreams, but liveable and comfortable nonetheless. I could have had the house of my dreams, but it wouldn't have been in the town of my dreams so I chose the town over the house. Last night we went to the library to get cards and I tried to get the Potatoes Not Prozac book, but it was on the "hold shelf." I put a second hold on it so I'm not sure when I'll get it. Doughnut vs. raw oatmeal and cottage cheese?? Hhmm. Of course, I haven't had a doughnut in years, but cottage cheese and oatmeal?? How about an egg white omelet with fat free cheese? That's what I had this morning.

Now, SunnyD, your breakfast sounds pretty good. What is a rice protein shake, though? You know, I think it's going to be hard for me to give up Splenda. I'm going to have to wean myself off a couple of things that I enjoy that contain Splenda. More snow where you are? Well, snow shoveling is good exercise, right? Will you get mad if I tell you it was 70 degrees here yesterday? That was a record high for the day. It was actually 72 degrees over at the coast, which is amazing. There was a photo of a guy sunbathing on the sand.

Well, we got the house! The realtor called around 10:00 am and gave us the news. The home inspection is scheduled for Monday. It's got a shake roof with some moss growing on it so I know that's going to be something we want fixed. We're trying to think about where we want the cat boxes. Our cats are strictly inside kitties so the cat box question is critical. At our last two houses, we had laundry rooms, which were perfect, but this house has the washer/dryer hookup in a closet-type arrangement. It does have a garage, however, so we're thinking of putting in a cat door to the garage, and hoping they'll learn to use it. Our first set of cats would actually go to the garage door and ask to be let out. The only problem was inevitably someone would come home and open the garage and the cat would run out.

Finally got a decent night's sleep last night. Too much stress, worry, and car noise. One of our friend's here had a cancer scare, but found out Tuesday it's not cancer--yippee! Tuesday was a good day because he found that out, and we found out about our house.

Tomorrow we're going to check out water aerobics at a nearby health club. Hope the instructor is good. Instructors always make a difference. I went back to Weight Watchers (which I don't think is incompatible with the Radiant Recovery so I'll be ready to go as soon as I get that book!) yesterday. Not the best leader so I'm going to shop around. Having a good leader is as important as having a good aerobics instructor.

Have a great day everyone! I'll be vegging out in front of the TV tonight. :)

Good Afternoon,

Here's the never have to give up sugar or splenda, if you choose not to. I chose to, and it is fine with me. You must remember to have your sugar with one of your three meals, thats all, don't have sugar alone. If you do eat sugar alone you will spike yourself and crave more sugar to get that beta endorphine high. ( Self medicating with sugar) :) What you ladies had for breakfast is just fine, as long as you have enough protein for your body weight. To determine what enough protein is divide you weight by 6 and you will get the total amount of grams of protein that you should have at each meal. So say for instance you weigh 150 pounds, divide 150 x 6 which equals 25 grams of protein at each meal, about the size of your fist. Along with that protein you should have a complex carb, I eat Natural Ovens Bread, 5 Grain Oatmeal, baked potato with the skin on. Right now that is all you have to do, have breakfast within one hour of your feet hitting the floor each morning and get your blood sugar stabilized, to cut down on cravings and grazing. Have that breakfast everyday until it becomes so solid you would never think of starting your day without it. At that point, step 2 is journaling what you eat, when you eat and your feelings. By doing the journaling you will be able to define how you feel when you don't get enough protein, when you have allowed your beta endorphines to spike, so that eventually you will be able to read your body and know when you are not on track. But, right now all you need to do is concentrate on breakfast with enough protein and complex carbs. If you can't get (PNP) Potatoes Not Prozac, try to get (SARP) The Sugar Addicts Total Recovery Program by Kathleen Des Maisons. is the web site.

Sheila you sound so upbeat, that is so fantastic. I really do like raw oatmeal and cottage cheese every morning. It is a no-brainer breakfast, I don't have to think about it. I am truly a sugar senstitive person (a SS) I am always in a hurry, need to get it done kind a gal. I am glad you got your house. I see another move coming. :)

Sunny, Carrie Underwood is my favorite for Idol. I was very disappointed for the kids that were voted off last night, especially those two darling little All American boys. :) what was the nation thinking? Looking forward to Survivor tonight. Thank goodness that annoying singing woman was voted off, she proboably is a sweetheart, but jeeze, the singing, the singing would have driven me nuts. I did not understand why no one picked the blonde guy, he must have really offended someone. I had hear a rumor that CSI focuses on a group of over weight woman and a skinny man in Las Vegas and that Katherin and Warrick start a love affair. :( I hope you are feeling better today. Hopefully radiant recovery will be of help to you.

Charlotte, I am just waiting for you to answer Sunny and Sheila's questions about your health. If you want that doughnut every morning have it with enough protein for your body weight. :D

Computer at home is still not working right. :?:

Gotta go back to work guys, really ran over my lunch break this time.

Yeah! It's Thursday!

02-24-2005, 11:16 PM

Hi everybody,
Please forgive me for not posting to everyone. I'm soooooo tired!

I went for my MRI's yesterday, & had a copy of the report faxed to my house. Well, I'm really hoping for the best, but I suspicion that they don't send the patient the whole report.
What it DID say is that C7-T1 disc is bulging heavily & there are several osteophytes in the spine. (these are bone spurs from Osteo Arthritis) That is just about all it said.

I posted on a site that is about Neurological problems & copied the whole report, asking for an interpretation. I also told what the EMG showed, & what my Neurologist said. I got a few responses that it didn't look like a complete report.

So, I suppose I wait until Monday to find out anything for real. I already knew I had at least one bulging disc & bone spurs. Oh well.........

I'll try to post more tomorrow.......just so tired. I haven't had any energy the last couple of days. Hope the Remicade isn't wearing off, I don't go back until March 21.

Feel better, SunnyD; Bluet, hope your pc is fixed soon; Sheila...glad you got your house & some rest!

Love all of you.

Lord, My soul is ripped with riot
incited by my wicked diet.
"We Are What We Eat," said a wise old man!
and, Lord, if that's true, I'm a garbage can.

I want to rise on Judgment Day, that's plain!
but at my present weight, I'll need a crane.
So grant me strength, that I may not fall
into the clutches of cholesterol.

May my flesh with carrot-curls be dated,
that my soul may be poly unsaturated
And show me the light, that I may bear witness
to the President's Council on Physical Fitness.

And at oleomargarine I'll never mutter,
for the road to **** is spread with butter.
And cream is cursed; and cake is awful;
and Satan is hiding in every waffle.

Mephistopheles lurks in provolone;
the Devil is in each slice of baloney,
Beelzebub is a chocolate drop,
and Lucifer is a lollipop.

Give me this day my daily slice
but, cut it thin and toast it twice.
I beg upon my dimpled knees,
deliver me from jujubes.

And when my days of trial are done,
and my war with malted milk is won,
Let me stand with Heavenly throng,
In a shining robe--size 30 long.

I can do it Lord, If You'll show to me,
the virtues of lettuce and celery.
If You'll teach me the evil of mayonnaise,
of pasta a la Milannaise
potatoes a la Lyonnaise
and crisp-fried chicken from the South.

Lord, if you love me, shut my mouth.

I saw this this morning and thought you gals
would enjoy the chuckle too

Hi Sheila,
on getting your home!!! :cp:

I am so happy for you, your hubby and your furry kids :D I forgot that your furry kids were all indoor pets ( :cp: ) I totally believe in keeping your pets inside, where they are safe... be careful about the garage for the litter-boxes... my sister has lost many a cat via the door being left open :o

Glad to hear that you got a good nights rest! Nothing like it :smug: And you really need it with all you have been busy with lately! Moss? Looks neat, but it's not so good on a roof... hope you won't have to spend much to have it removed. Will you have to get a new roof? Or can you pressure wash it off? Come back soon and let us know if you found a good place for exercise, a good instructor DOES make all the difference ~ *Luck!* :)

You watch *ER* don't you? It was really good - I thought! You? I really liked the way that they drew in the two areas (the War & the ER) and showing you that there wasn't much of a difference in what they did... and that soon the couple will see one another again :) Great shows!

To answer your question: I went to the *Vitamin Shoppe* some time ago and got this Rice Protein Powder... all vegan. It's made from Brown Rice and it seems to agree with me. It doesn't have as high of protein as the Whey protein powders, but I cannot have whey, so this works for me. But according to Jorden (mentioned in my note to Bonnie) he says that goat protein is better --- higher in nutrients and proteins... it's called *Goatein* I haven't tried it yet, so I cannot tell you how it is. I do like the Rice Protein Powders... they come in Berry, Vanilla & Chocolate. I'll look for the *Goatein* when I shop this weekend...

70*!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nooooo, not mad at all... just green with envy!!!! :lucky: I wish we had 60*! I'd settle for 50*! It's 18* here this morning! We have a bit of snow still (aprox 3 inches) but at least the sun is shinning :smug: I'll take the sunshine :sunny:

Hi Angel, I am so glad that you stopped by even though you aren't feeling well... I loved your SPRING animations!!! I cannot wait for Spring to get here! Today we have sunshine - how appropriate for our dear friend and her funeral today... she brought so much sunshine into everyone's life.

I think that the worse part after a test is the waiting!!!! I just want you to know, Charlotte... that we ALL really care for you and all that you have to go through ~ please believe that when I say I am praying that *I am!*

*God Bless you Charlotte*
I love you too!

Hi Bonnie, Another good *Survivor* show! I wasn't surprised at all at who got voted off... she was so ready to go home! You could see it in her behavior and so did her tribe. Sorry... I haven't learned their names yet, but the tattoo girl impressed me... she a tough gal :) I like her allot, just don't agree with all the tattoo's or piercing's, but when you look past them she is adorable. She reminds me of the lab girl in the Tuesday night show *NCIS* - I really thinks she's cute too.

*CSI-Vegas* was really good too... not as bad as I thought. I felt so sorry for the girl who killed the guy :sorry: A sad story-line to say the least. It sure did begin gory though, didn't it, Bonnie? Seeing inside that guys dead body right off the start! :o Ewe!

I taped *W/O a Trace* haven't seen it yet...

As for diet & exercise: I am so excited about us all working together :dancer: Thanks so much for all your help!!!! I have my Elliptical and my T-Mill here as well as my Walking DvD's (Walking Away the Pounds), so all I have to do is get to feeling well again and just use them. Everytime I go to use the machines at first I feel great; then the spasms begin again... so I really must take care of my insides before I can concentrate on the exercise. And from what I have read in my book - the diet he puts you on to add all the good enzymes into your intestines again will help you to drop weight too :D Because then the body will function as it should. According to Jorden S. Rubin (the writer of *The Maker's Diet* too) most people with my health problem DO have a very difficult time losing weight (that made me feel validated!) So my next step is to get to the *Vitamin Shoppe* and to this place called *The Mustard Seed* and go by my foods and supplements... hopefully tonight & tomorrow I will go. I am also going to check and see if I can get any of the books from Kathleen Des Maisons & use her info too --- it really sounds like they are in agreement of what to do. Jorden doesn't believe in using Splenda either, he says to use unfiltered honey... but I still use it, I just use less of it now. He said the process used is very unhealthy for the gut :o

Hi Diane!

Hi MissMuffet!

good morning ladies,
life is going good. staying on the water, small baby steps in the walking, went off healthy eating a couple of times. would you please pray for my daughter, she had to go to the ER. her primary Dr. sent her there for a spinal tap thinking she had meningitis. her symptoms were headache for 3 days, sore thorat, elevated white count, tired and stiff neck. praise the Lord she didn't have to have the spinal tap. they did some blood work and tests and didn't think she had meningitis. is she didn't feel better by monday she was to go back to her primary. which she had to do. her throat is still sore. her tonsils are still swollen and pusie she is also still tired. when she was there there was some confusion between her last vist, the ER, and then this visit. she had more blood drawn to check for mono this time. she got a call at work today that every thing has come back fine. so she is very frustrated. because she still feels so crummy. she has used up all of her sick days and its only feb. so she is concerned about that. she's sick and tired of feeling sick and tired. her name is laura. she's my baby at 26. i love her whole big bunches. i hate to see my kids struggle. i know what it's like feeling that way. also pray for my mother. i have to take her in march 3rd for a day surgery. she has surgery at 7:30 AM. i will need to stay with her for a few days. she doesn't have a computer. so i will be gone. pray i stick with good food choices.

i want to say thanks to those of you that welcomed me. it means alot to know that you are being heard.

i have done what i set out to do today. that was scrub floors and was rugs. i have 13 rugs to was. i only have 4 more to go. hip-hip horay. i always get excited when i met my goalsl. how about you. i have alot of floors to mop also. i am thankfur that we do have some wall to wall in some areas. i don't think my back could take much more.

Hi, ladies!

Okay, Bluet, I'll check into the Sugar Addicts book. Do you eat the same breakfast every day, by the way? I got some FF cottage cheese and plan to see how that tastes so that I can have that as a protein along with my oatmeal or shredded wheat. Except for eggs, which I can't eat a lot of (unless it's the white), I'm never sure what to do for protein in the morning. What's going on with your computer at home? Do you think it's a virus? Oh, you'll be happy to note that it's now overcast and a bit chilly here. The weather can sure turn fast.

SunnyD, I laughed like crazy at that comic. Love the dieter's prayer, too. Thanks for the house graphic. Love that house! Doesn't look at all like mine, but that's okay. Moss is a problem in Oregon and Washington, especially on a shake roof. It occurs mostly on the north side, especially when the roof is under a tree. There's a treatment for it. I plan to ask the seller to pay for the first treatment, and clean the tree litter out of the gutters. There are a couple of large ash trees in the back that are spewing litter all over the roof. Nothing that can't be fixed, but I want the buyer to fix it first! I did like ER a lot. Now we're going to have to suffer through weeks of reruns before we see how it all turns out. (Just had a phone call on the cell phone. It was my DH calling from downstairs because he was too lazy to come up the stairs and tell me he was taking the dog out. Hee hee!) I like to watch Without a Trace when ER is a rerun. I totally understood how the woman who killed the man felt, and why she would cop to murder rather than tell what happened. I liked Grissom saying that his ideal partner would be someone who wouldn't judge him.

Charlotte, we're all still hoping for the best, too. Are you dreading Monday or eager to find out once and for all? I hope that you can have a good weekend and won't dwell on the results too much.

Mary, glad things are going well for you except for your poor DD. I hope the docs can find out soon what's going on with her. Also thinking about your Mom, too. Hey, plan ahead for the food choices, or take some stuff with you. Hope you got all your rugs done. I often like to make a list of stuff I have to do just so I can cross it off--makes me feel like I've accomplished something.

So where is Diane? I hope she's doing okay.

Last night our friends had us over for wine and snacks (no snacks for me, but I did have wine). I think they were trying to "set us up." They'd invited another couple, although only the wife showed up. She was very nice, but very busy because she and her DH had opened a new UPS franchise and are working six days a week. Today we checked out a water aerobics class. I enjoyed it, but kept getting toe cramps. Gotta get more calcium or something. After that, I met another friend at a crafts store where they were exhibiting some quilts. I love looking at quilts, and wish I could make one. My friend said she would go with me to take a class. Then we had coffee afterwards.

This weekend my stepdaughter is coming down. She's always lived so far away from us, and now she's the closest kid so it will be fun doing stuff with her. We're going to my DH's friend's house for lunch on Sunday. I realized today that we've known all these people for over 30 years. It's been a long time since we've lived near them, but it's nice picking up where we left off. Also plan to check out the church. I'm going to see if I can sit through a service (it's the physical part of sitting, I'm worried about, not the actual sermon! :) ).

Have a great weekend everyone!

02-27-2005, 11:31 AM

Hi Sheila, As for the home graphic: Oh well... I tried  ;) Goodness... ... Ash Tree's I have seen the mess that they can make! They are beautiful tree's but they poop all over the place :dizzy: Will you be taking them down?

So glad you enjoyed the giggles I posted Sheila ;) Anything to make yours and the other gals day brighter :goodvibes

Reruns: I saw that too :( bummer... I hate this way of TV programs... I want the old way back! When you use to get all new shows till Spring and then reruns during the Summer with all new shows in the Fall. Now they are changing it up so much and moving them around that you go bonkers trying to keep up :faint:

I had to change my routine up for breakfast with this program for the first three days (a cleansing period he calls it). You shudda seen what I had to drink this morning :p Yuuucckkkk!! :p You know I have to be desperate to be trying all these green drinks :faint:

Did you find a church? :crossed: Hope you are having a blast with your SD this weekend! Did you go anywhere special? Shop till you dropped or just stayed in and chatted over a cup 'o tea? :bubbles:

Hi Mary (craftymom), Prayers for your DD, Laura... so sorry to hear that she is doing so poorly and so young too. What did they find out at the ER?? Will she be okay? And Prayers for your DM too!

So how far has your hubby gotten on building your gazebo? As for your unusually warm weather... I'd take it in a heartbeat & so would my hubby. He comes home everyday lately complaining about the lack of sunshine and the cold here. Your gardens sound so lovely... I cannot wait to see our flowers come up this Spring. I can't wait for Spring!

Were you able to get all your rugs washed? ;)

HI Angel, Keeping you in my prayers and thoughts for good news on Monday {{{Hugs}}}

Okay Diane... where you BE???? :?: ?????

I wasn't able to go to church this morning... I really miss going!!! :(
I'm still homebound with these new drinks (need that bathroom :o - I know - :o too much information :sorry: ). But according to the book my body should adjust in 3 to 7 days :crossed:

*Wishing everyone a Blessed Sunday!*

02-27-2005, 06:31 PM
Welcome Mary and Miss Muffet so glad to have you join in with us.

I have been MIA for a few days :( , but I have some good news to report....I don't have Emphysema. I went to the Pulmonary Dr. Wed. and he got the reports of the PFT from hospital and it stated I had Asthma and Bronchitus, which both are caused from smoking also but not as bad as the Emphysema. :) I in turn went to the Dr. that informed me that I had emphysema and her response was " I dont know where I got that you had Emphysema." I think I will be finding me another Dr. I have lost all faith in the medical profession at this moment.

If I dont get on track with my eating I am headed for some major problems, I did manage to go to Curves 5 times last week which helps, but this stress eating has got to stop.

So glad you got moved Sheila and already have a house, that is great. Hug for you.

Charlotte hope you are feeling better, sending big hugs.

Sunny sending a big hug to you too.

I am so far behind on reading the post I know I have missed something. Hopefully for the first time in a month I can get back to some sort of normal around here.

Have a wonderful night, are you going to watch the Academy Awards?

02-27-2005, 09:10 PM
Oh, Diane, I'm SO happy about your news! Bronchitis you can easily recover from, and asthma you can manage. I bet you're so relieved! Yeah, get yourself a new doctor soon. Had you seen that doctor before? Good for you for going to Curves so many times last week. I can totally relate to the stress eating because I've been doing a lot of it. Last week I said no more so on Wednesday I went back on plan. Yup, I plan to watch the Academy Awards, but I always mute the sound during the speeches and many times during the "comedy" stuff unless it's Billy Crystal who is by far the best host. Too bad he's not doing it again this year. I imagine it's quite a bit of work.

Hope the cleansing stuff works well, SunnyD, and soon so that you can leave the house. You know, I can't even drink Gatorade because it's weirdly colored. I was so happy to be able to take a pill to prepare for a colonscopy instead of drinking the stuff to clean you out. Hhmm, the church service. Well, all I can say is that we decided to give it a couple more times. SD hasn't shown up yet. :(

How was everyone's weekend? In the paper on Friday, I saw a little blurb about a swing band playing at a local venue and I noticed that the person to call was Mel Garcia. I did a doubletake because a guy named Mel Garcia introduced me to my future DH. My DH ended up calling the number just to see if it was the same Mel Garcia, and it was! Isn't that funny? We're going to go see his band play next Friday. We spent Saturday getting paint, carpet and vinyl samples to take over to the new house tomorrow. Today we had lunch with an old friend of DH's who turns out to live right around the corner from our new house. After eating (no pie or breadsticks for me--big on salad, light on spaghetti), we walked over to the new house and walked around it. On the sidewalk only!! No way do we want to do what the parents of our buyers did to us, even though the house is empty.

Charlotte, I'll be thinking of you tomorrow and hoping for good news. Please let us know as soon as you can. I'm praying so hard for you!!

Hope you all had a great weekend! It rained a little this morning, but then it was pretty sunny. We took the dog for a long walk on a nearby bikepath. It's fun exploring all the new places to walk.

02-28-2005, 10:03 PM

Hi everybody,'s been a long day. I still don't know what to think about my situation. The Neurologist pointed out 3 or 4 bulges, & several bone spurs....but, isn't sending me to a surgeon. He wanted me to show the film to my Rheumatologist. I don't like the feeling I get about this. I asked him if he was keeping something from me. He sat back in his chair & asked how long we had known each other! (about 23yrs!) I told him I trusted him to be honest with me, but I just didn't think he was telling me everything. He said "Let me give you an example...if you needed to know about football, you wouldn't go to a baseball coach to learn." He said he knew little about RA, so he wanted my RA Dr to look at the report & films & decide what was needed. That he would work with him in any way needed. So, I left there, not knowing any more than I already did. I don't go for Remicade until the 21st of March. Three weeks of worrying. :(

Hi Mary....I'm praying for your daughter, Laura, & for your mom. Take care of yourself. COOL to find your friend!! I know you & DH are excited about seeing him again! This move sounds like it was meant to be. :D Did you like what you saw of the house? I'm excited for you & will be glad when you're settled. Thanks for the prayers.

SunnyD...hope you're feeling better, now. Bless your heart. You go through a lot. I do hope this cleansing works for you.

Well....Mondays are long & I'm tired. I'll talk to you all later. Hi to everyone.

02-28-2005, 11:48 PM
Oh, Charlotte, how dang frustrating for you! Can you get an earlier appointment with the rheumatologist so that you can get some answers sooner than three weeks? Or is that because you have to travel so far to get to see him? Boy, I'm actually feeling pretty ticked off about this, and if I'm feeling like this, I can imagine what you're feeling! Hope you get some good sleep tonight and try like heck not to stress about everything. I know--easier said that done.

So where is everyone? SunnyD, I hope things are going well with the cleansing.

We had the home inspection today. Just a couple of things that I hope the seller will agree to fix. The roof needs cleaning, a moss treatment, and at least one shake replaced. There are a couple of vents that need gasket repairs, too. That's all. And we discovered that there is a hardwood floor in the entry, dining room, and hall. It could be in the kitchen, but we won't know until we pull up the carpet. I brought the carpet and vinyl samples to see how they looked and we plan to replace the carpeting in the bathrooms and kitchen with vinyl, and replace the master bedroom carpet just because it's got weird marks on it. I looked at the main bathroom wallpaper and I can live with it so we'll just keep it. We are going to have to strip the kitchen wallpaper and the wallpaper in the master bathroom plus the borders in the master and guest room. There's also one wall with wallpaper in what will be the office. I was going to paint the kitchen cabinets, but decided that I could live with the cabinets the way they are if I lighten up the floor with the vinyl and keep the kitchen window uncovered. That's good because that's a heck of a lot of painting to do. There's a bank of hanging cabinets that block the family room from the kitchen, and I want to replace those with a shorter bank of cheap cabinets so that there's a two-cabinet space chunk of space so I can see through to the family room. Hhmm, does that make sense?

Going to the apt. complex laundry facility is the pits, although good exercise. I did a load of towels and ended up walking back and forth four times, which means up and down the stairs four times.

Oops! We have one office chair, and my DH needs it so gotta go. Have a good evening, everyone, and a great Tuesday!

03-01-2005, 08:41 PM

Hi Sheila...Yes, it's very frustrating about the Dr visit. Sometimes I think it's not a good idea to become friends with your Dr. I think it makes them hold back telling everything. I AM thinking about making an earlier appt. with my rheumy....just don't really know what to do.
Sounds like you've got a lot of work planned for your house! I'm surprised to hear of anyone still using vinyl. Here, most people are into hardwood & ceramic tile. My DH does floor covering, & it's just about all he does, now. He's glad of it, because he hates laying vinyl. :^: Of course, you can have what you want, it's just unusual to hear about it. The carpet is just about to go out, too, here, although I'd love the feel of carpet beneath my bare feet! I think people are thinking of the upkeep. The kind of hardwood they put down is very easy to keep up, & the ceramic tile requires very little care. You'll have to post us some pictures of everything!

Hello Bluet, SunnyD, Mary, Diane......

03-02-2005, 12:36 PM
Oh where, oh where did all our members go? How about a quick post to let us know you're all okay? Just one line, or even the word "okay."

Charlotte, I think you should make an earlier appointment with your rheumatologist, but that's just my opinion. Is it better to spend three weeks worrying about the worst or finally know what's going on no matter what? It's such a dilemma. Both choices are stressful, which I'm sure isn't doing your health any good either. I sure hope it's springtime where you are because you definitely need a pick-me-up, and for me that's looking at beautiful spring flowers. Hang in there, Charlotte. I think about you all the time.

About the floor coverings, I would love to have ceramic tile or hardwood, but the vinyl is kind of a cheap stopgap until we figure out what to do. At some point, we'll remodel the kitchen for sure so I don't want to spend too much money on it. Same for the bathrooms. All I know is that when I had a carpeted bathroom (leftover by the previous owners), we had several toilet overflows--yuck!! So the easiest solution is to get vinyl on those floors by the time we move in.

Yesterday I went to a volunteer orientation for the local humane society. It was weird being on the other end of an orientation because I used to be a volunteer coordinator for a humane society, doing all the training. I couldn't help but compare. And, of course, my orientations were better!

Got my weigh-in this morning so I'd best be getting ready for it since I'm sitting here in my PJs. Have a great day everyone!

03-02-2005, 02:28 PM

Good Afternoon ladies!

I am so very sorry to worry you Sheila... :sorry: I didn't mean too, I just have been so very tired...

I am doing better NOW (!) that I have completed the 3 days of cleansing and am so very glad that is all finished!!! I stayed home (doing that allot these days :( ) and close to the bathroom if you know what I mean :o I am exhausted!! The green stuff I have to drink in the mornings is just horrid tasting, I am gonna finish the product I bought and then re-think getting more. I'd rather eat fresh veggies 5 times a day! But now I begin to follow the *40 Day Makers Diet* (very similar to *The South Beach Diet* with 3 phases)... he teaches you to make better choices on a daily basis, in that it becomes a life-style change... also very similar to the program that Bonnie has done successfully. My goal is just to feel better again (with energy & no pain) and I am still in pain (in my lower left side - Diverticulitus (sp?) and the spasms in my colon & the pain drains me of energy). I reread some areas of the book and it seems that I am not taking enough enzymes to help me digest the fats I am using (like the Flaxseed Oil and Coconut Oils I cook with), so I am increasing the dose of the enzymes today. I will give this three weeks and then call this new Dr. that my SIL gave me, for my physical (I don't care for the Dr. I have now for this problem). So that's what is happening right now... I still feel so very tired and seem to always want to sleep, but then our weather isn't helping any. We got another foot of snow in the last two days! You should see it out our window right now... the snow flakes are huge! So pretty when you get to look out like me, but not so pretty for those having to drive in it --- allot of accidents!

Bonnie, Where are you these days? Are you not feeling well either :?: Are you getting allot of snow too!!?? My folks got OVER a foot of snow too (they live in Maine).

Sheila, I did get out for a few hours on Saturday :) with Joe to go shopping for the foods and vitamins I needed to start with, but haven't left the house since. I really need to stay close to home right now. I was exhausted just going out for that bit of time on Saturday, but it felt good getting out.

So your SD never made it over for your visit?? I am so sorry... you were so looking forward to it. Did she call you??

How cool  that the Mel Garcia was the same person!!! And that your DH's friend is so close... it was meant for you to be where you are - that's for sure! It's a small world, isn't it Sheila ;)

It sure does sound like you have allot of work to do in your new home... a real fixer-upper - no? Well, one good thing is that when you do finally move in that you will move into a home that you will be very happy with :D I sure give you all allot of credit for living in the apartment and the very small space, nevermind lugging your laundry :p
I do hope that you get Wonderful News at your weigh-in today! :crossed:

Angel, I am so glad to hear that you don't have to go to a surgeon for your neck, but it still doesn't sound good, at all... to wait for 3 weeks... what a bummer! I guess this is a time that you will have to put into the Lord's hands (always easier said then done, I know). I have a prayer from the book I am reading right now (every morning) that may help you. Allow me to share it with you...

*A Morning Prayer for Healing*
Father God, I thank you for creating me in Your image.
I praise You that I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
I confess that You are the God that heals, my Great Physician.
I ask You to heal my body from the top of my head to the soles
of my feet. I pray that You would regenerate every bone, joint,
tendon, ligament, tissue, organ, and cell of my body. This is the
day that the Lord has made; I will rejoice and be glad in it.

It's a great prayer for all those needing healing, don't you think so?

Isa. 55:11 tells us to trust God's promises... {{{Hugs}}}

Diane, I am so pleased to hear the you don't have what the Dr. said and that you will get better soon! I will continue to keep you close in prayer that you get all better!!! Note the prayer I gave to Angel... ;)

Nope, I didn't watch the Awards... I watched some old movies on Satellite that night, everything else was a repeat. Did you watch?

Oh... ... I did get in 1. 65 miles today between the T-Mill and my Elliptical :D :cp: I haven't walked in ages! It really felt pretty good, but now I think I am gonna go take a 30 minute nap and then run the vacuum and get some laundry caught up before my Joe gets home. Also, my mom called me and spoke with me for about an hour yesterday, I was thrilled to say the least --- what a pick-me-up :D :) I was beaming all day... she doesn't call often, but she is very concerned about me... and wanted to give me some advice (good advice too ;) ).

03-03-2005, 10:13 AM

Good Morning Gals!

I just wanted to give you an update... we got a bit over 18" of snow in the last two days and it's now only 8* here this morning! Burrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, is all I havta say! At least the sun is shinning :D And I am doing much better today. Sill not well, but I didn't expect to get better over night... I have been ill for way too long and according to this book I have it could take up to 3 months for the intestine to rebuild and heal. I just have to stay with the program. Maybe I will lose some more weight too! :flow1:

So what did you all (who watch) think of *American Idol*? last night. I thought that doing it in 30 minutes & without the suspense (pain for the kids) was a whole lot better! The producers really got allot of flack for what they did last week! I was so upset to see Judd go too. I hope we can get him voted back on. I voted for him to come back... we'll see. I was really sorry to see Aloha Mischeau go too! She was good and it was a big mistake to vote her off! I think that Janay Castine should have gone last night! What a mistake that was... What are your thoughts? Who do you favor? Here is the LINK to the contestants~> so you can check them out for yourself. I went there to see if I could bring Aloha back, but it looks like Celena Rae will get that vote right now, oh well.

Well, I must get my day started and get caught up with the laundry that i never did yesterday! And I have bill's to pay today too :o Yuck :p

Hope this finds everyone doing well today... come back soon. I'm with Sheila, it's a bummer when any of us is missing.
Sheila?! Bluet!? Angel!? Diane!? Mary!?
Where are you ;)

03-03-2005, 10:07 PM
Looks like it's just you and me, SunnyD. I like your little Irish dancer. My DD was an Irish dancer and had the outfit and the shoes and went to dance competitions (the outfit, shoes, and competitions have names that I don't remember). Those costumes can be pretty elaborate because most of them have a lot of embroidery on them.

Are you feeling less tired today, SunnyD? Hopefully it was just an effect of the cleansing, and not an anemia problem or anything. Did I ever tell you that someone I know got disability because of her IBS? It's hard to work when you have to run to the bathroom so often. When are you guys going to have spring back there? I'm afraid I'd be a basket case by now with all that snow. Living in Colorado was tough for me because spring didn't arrive until May, and then summer came in June followed by winter. Kind of skipped over my two favorite seasons.

The seller agreed to the repairs so we're a go on the house. We had been prepared to walk away if he didn't, and actually had put ourselves in the frame of mind not to be disappointed if he didn't agree, but he signed off on everything. It's not a fixer upper so to speak, but we want to update some stuff. I don't like carpet in the bathroom, and kitchen, and I hate juniper bushes so those will go. It's great construction, and well cared for, but just needs some cosmetic stuff that I'm willing to do because I like the neighborhood, the floor plan, and the size of the yard.

Went to water aerobics today at one of the two pools in town. My friend goes to this class and afterwards we went to coffee with her cousin who was visiting, and two other women from the class. We talked for about 1.5 hours. When I was in my 20s and she was in her 40s (she's 18 years older than me), we used to talk for hours and hours. One time we talked for almost 8 hours on the phone even though we lived in the same town. I used to spend afternoons over at her house, and she'd bring out raw chocolate chip cookie dough and two spoons. Ah, the days! Anyway, after that I did laundry, which entails running up and down the stairs many times and down to the laundry room. I think that's what help me lose 8 lbs. last week. That and I started eating better. I imagine my loss next week, if I have one, will be a lot less.

Hope everyone is doing okay. I wonder if Bluet is having computer problems. She'll have to talk to you about Idol, SunnyD, because I don't watch it. I watched part of Oprah yesterday, though, and heard a 12 year old kid from Hawaii who had a wonderful voice. He'll be the next Josh Groban or Barry Manilow if his voice doesn't change too much.

03-04-2005, 10:56 AM

Good Morning everyone,'s too quiet around here, lately. I know, I'm included....just been lazy. No real excuse. I'm getting really concerned about Bluet, though. I hope it's her computer with problems, & not her. Bluet.....we miss you!

Good news with the house, Sheila. :D It'll be fun fixing it up the way you want it....even if it's temporary.

on the weightloss! 8 lbs....WOW!! We have a new water aerobics that has just opened up in our town. We can use it for that, or go certain days just to play in the water to help with RA, OA, etc. I wish I could afford it. I had a friend to ask me to go with her, but had to turn her down. Shoot!

SunnyD...hope you're doing a lot better now!

Maybe when the cleansing is over, it'll all be worth it....I sure hope so. I'm praying for you.

Well, I couldn't sleep last night, so I'm dragging this morning. up on computer til 3 am, then stayed awake until around 4 am. DH wanted me to go back to bed after he & DS left for, I must look terrible. :^: Gotta go put myself together & go smile all day until I get back home. TGIF!!!!! It IS a beautiful day!

03-04-2005, 05:49 PM

 Hi there Sheila & Angel!

I hope this finds you both having a great day...

It is for me :smug: :sunny: I am doing so much better as each day goes by - it's amazing! Joe bought me that Jack LaLane juicer yesterday... he got it for $89.00!!! What a great buy! My girlfriend, Peggy, bought it at the wholesale club for $130.00... I am so happy right now! And I have already made Joe & I carrot & apple juice to go with our breakfast this morning... it was really yummy!!!! Sweet tasting! Taste much better then the store bought stuff I bought :p I saved the pulp to add the extra fiber to our muffins and my breakfast drinks. I just froze it. And now that I have the juicer I don't have to drink that green stuff any longer from the book - yeah!!!! I will make my own and make it sweet with an apple. Now I just have to get my strength built back up again, it's been so long since I have felt like exercising. The T-Mill has made my back muscles very tender the last few days (yes, I walked again today, but not very far). At least now when I go to that new Dr. I will go there for my physical and allow her to do a COMPLETE physical on me (unlike the last Dr.) and I won't be so afraid of her examining me (because of pain). I have had very little pain two mornings and it's been great! I have been in pain for so long!!! What a wonderful feeling! :flow1:

Great *Survivor* last night!! I enjoyed that water rally they did - tough!!! Such clever games they come up with! But I would have voted off the blonde girl and not the guy with the bum ankle (cannot remember names yet). It will be interesting to see what happens next... Bummer that the other shows were repeats - again!

Sheila, I thought you would like the little Irish Dancer ;) I too enjoy the Irish Dancers... that's cool that your DD danced... those outfits are wonderfully made! I cannot take my eyes off their feet when they dance - they are all so adorable, even the older kids!

I think it's wonderful that you got an agreement from the seller to do the repairs... :cp: you have enough to cover once you move in.

:flow2: And that is awesome that you lost 8 lbs!!! Good for you! :flow2: I only wish!! I am so trying :) And it sounds like you had a great time at your water aerobics class... I am so happy for you :cloud9: I must say though... it is very different to read your posts and not hear about your father's daily antics ;) I am sure you don't miss them though... Have you heard from him lately? How's he doing?

Yes, I am feeling much better! :smug: Thank you! :^: I am still not up-to-par yet (he states in his book that it could take up to 3 months), but I'll take what I feel today :) I have felt so badly for over 2 years on and off now. No... you didn't tell me, but I could see why your friend couldn't work! It is exhausting :o But now I am only having to go in the mornings and it's great! Everything seems to be responding so well to the routine of the supplements and the diet (so far - I'm only on day #6). I still have a bloated belly, but he says that will go down in time... it's just the body adjusting to all the fiber I am taking. It will just take a bit of patience on my part and I could use some practice in that area of my life, if you know what I mean ;) I am very much a *Type A* kinda gal.

As for our weather... we had some sunshine today - that was nice! But we are in for more snow this evening and over the weekend. I don't think it will be much, but I am so ready for Spring! I don't think that we'll get to see Spring till mid to late April, but if it came sooner... I wouldn't mind at all! :D

I DO think that Bluet is having computer problems :( I hope she comes back real soon!!! I sure miss her! I sent her an e-card and she hasn't opened it, so I know she is having problems. I wonder why she hasn't written us from work? Just to let us know she's okay :?: I too am very Worried! :(

Hi Angel, Thank you for your prayers :grouphug: You know it means allot to me. Did you see the prayer I left for you?

I just loved your bunny graphic! But I am not quite into Spring or Easter just yet... just too much SNOW on the ground here :o (a good 19"!) I am so sorry to hear that you are still having a hard time sleeping... have you tired Sleepytime Tea before bed? That may help... or maybe a warm glass of milk? I have heard that helps you to relax.

Get some sleep girl!!

Well, I have put off finishing up my bill's all day long! :p Time for me to go and do so... Have a great weekend gals!! We are going out tomorrow morning with our friends for breakfast (it's been 2 weeks since we got together last!), but I will not be eating out, I'm just going for the company and bringing my tea with me ;) I am not ready for restaurant food just yet, but am dying for the company of our friends. It's wonderful that they know and understand and I don't feel any pressure. I will eat before we meet them.

*God Bless*

My DH just told me today is 3/4/5 (as in March 4, 2005). Okay, enough with the numerology.

Hi, Charlotte and SunnyD! Whew--I'm glad that spring has sprung in at least one other place, but sorry you're still getting all that darn snow, SunnyD. Any little crocuses or snowdrops poking their heads above the snow? Given the accumulation, probably not. That bouquet graphic makes me want to go buy a bouquet of spring flowers. I suppose I shouldn't pick the ones at the apartment. :)

That's too bad you can't go to the water aerobics class, Charlotte. I've heard that warm water is really good for people with OA, and most health places have easy movement classes for people with OA. If it's good for OA, is it good for RA, too? I was reading something in the paper about children getting juvenile RA. Many go into remission, though, thankfully. So I've got another one for your sleep problem. After eating a turkey dinner followed by the glass of warm milk, take some valerian root tablets. I used to take those when I was pregnant and had the neuro disorder I have now for the first time (the disorder disappeared for 13 years, then came back). My DH takes valerian root when he can't sleep. Not sure how it interacts with other medication. I've heard you need to watch some herbal remedies taken with certain drugs, but not sure how you find out what herbs.

What a bargain on your juicer, SunnyD! I'm glad you're enjoying it, and that's great how you're adding fiber to your diet. When I read that you were going out, I thought, oh,no, but then read further. I think you're smart to just have tea. That's nice that you have friends who are so understanding.

Speaking of my Dad, my realtor in Seattle called and told me that my Dad had called her. She said she knew it was my Dad because she listened to her voice mail and heard someone say, "Oh, crap!" and hang up. That's my father's first reaction to getting voice mail. Then he calls back and leaves a message. He told her that he has another piece of property he wants her to sell. Ack!! That's the property I'm working on to get the title clear before we can put it on the market. I'm trying not to get frustrated about his forgetfulness because I know he's not doing it on purpose. But, still, I am frustrated so I might as well admit it. I told the realtor to call him back and remind him that I'm working on the getting the quiet title so that it can be put back on the market.

The poor buyers of the Seattle house (a teacher who is giving birth in April and her husband) got kind of screwed with their loan. The company back East didn't fund it in time today so I wouldn't let the escrow company record the title until it's funded, which is normal procedure. So the poor couple is sitting with their belongings on a truck. I did say they could put the stuff in the house, and I wouldn't charge them rent. Luckily, her parents live nearby so they can stay with them. Got my mail forwarding fixed, too, I hope. The carrier was on vacation, but returned today and took all the mail out of the box that the sub had left in even though we'd turned in change of address forms.

Supposed to be kind of a drizzly weekend here, but then sunny and up to 70 degrees by midweek. I have all my warm weather clothes in storage because March isn't usually this warm.

Have a good one, everyone! Hope Bluet and Diane are back soon. I bet OB makes it difficult for Bluet to post at work, don't you think?

Good Saturday morning, I didn't realize I had been gone for so long. I have been so busy with little Grandson lately he is to turn 3 this month and he keeps me hopping. All is going pretty good from down here in Texas, weather is rainy and that does seem to affect my breathing problem alot.

Sunny glad to hear you are feeling some better. I hope getting out today lifts your spirits some, enjoy time with your friends. I loved that prayer it is perfect.

Charlotte take care of yourself. I do hope you are feeling some better.

Sheila sounds like you have got settled in and how exciting about meeting back up with your friend. I wish we had water aerobics here, I have done them yrs. ago and loved it.

I dont know what is on my agenda today, may just stay in and enjoy the peace and quiet which we don't get much of around here. It is starting to wear on my nerves taking care of the grandkids. I have a 14yr. old smart mouth that comes after school and bless his heart he back talks more than any child I have ever seen.
What has happened to todays kids? My kids would have never talked to me like he talks to his Mother!! Not enough discipline at an early age is my accessment. He nearly drives us crazy plus he aggervates his little brother all the time. I dont know how my daughter is going to handle 3 of them, the new baby will be here in 3 months and it is definitely going to be a challenge for all of us. I have been thinking about going back to work hate to do that to daughter but I have got to look out for my sanity also. The only problem is if I did get a job I have a dream come true trip planned with some friends in
Oct. and I dont want to jeopardize it for a job right now. I may hang in here until next Spring, the baby will be older and wont be so hard sending her to daycare to make this decision. :)

Have a wonderful Saturday and I won't stay away so long I promise. ;)

Hi Girls!
Thought I'd stop in and say hey!

Charlotte, so sorry you're having so many health problems, Prayers going up for you from Minnesota.
How are you doing on getting the house done? I bet you'll be so happy when it's done, if it isn't already.

Hi Bonnie. Has your weather been as nice there as it's been here the last few days? Spring is just around the corner, you know.

Sunny, I see from skimming over the posts in this thread that you're as busy with your Joe as ever.
I'm going to have to check out those books you all have been talking about.
Maybe they'll help me.

Sheila, I see you have moved and are going to be moving again.
How is Dad? I bet you miss him and he misses you. Does he have his own place, or is he in an assissted living place?
How is your granddaughter?
Congrats to all on weight losses. Sounds like you had a whopper of a loss recently, Sheila.

I took my granddaughter shopping the other day and I was just about out of my creams and lotions, so we spent some time at Bath and Body Works and I stocked up again. We smelled too strong when we left there. had to try a dab on new skin each time we picked up a new tube or bottle.

Hello to the new girls!

Well, everyone take care. I need to get to bed and get some sleep.
