MichelleRae: Michelle sahm to Taylor 8-25-01 & Teagan 10-13-03 Married 2 years to Zhaun. Plan I'm following is a combined WW and South Beach Diet.
Spryng: 24 y.o. married 6 years. Kids- Ava 4, Bubba (aka Joseph) 3 & Tanner 1. Currently on ww, hit goal in April.
Mompen: Penny 24 y.o. Happily Married & SAHM Momma to three active boys, Hunter 5, Nicholas 4 & Andrew 19 mo. Taking what I learned from WW & South Beach is my way of life.
Sydsmom: Kristin SAHM to Sydney 09-27-01, married almost 2 years to wonderful dh Began Weight watchers mid-July
Cindi: Mom to 6 boys & 1 mean girl. Plan.. No diet for me! Portion control, exercise & lots of water (most days).

Gretchen: wife to Matt, Mom to Sean (15) and Jeremy (11). Just starting out with no diet plan except reduced calorie. I'm also a Curves lady!
Roxy: married (21yrs) 4 boys, and 6 girls, have to get serious after last baby. Doing the low-carb thing, drinking lots of water & more exercise.

Well, I better get my day started. I am finally down to about 4 loads of laundry, then I'm not touching it til I have a full load (maybe a day or two)! :rolleyes: I have a lunch date today with my dd and Andrew's scout leader. They are real buddies and she spoils Abby beyond belief, so today it's my turn. Their birthdays were only 3 days (Jan 8th & 11th), apart so I promised to take them to lunch. Things have been crazy for all of us so we're just now getting to it. Abby got to pick where we go and she wants Chinese, but I know I can be good there. Yesterday I said to heck with it and had a free day. I hadn't really had a totally free day since I started almost 6 months ago so I feel I deserved it. I have been having such bad salty craving, so I satisfied those yesterday and am back on the wagon today!

Hello ladies...good morning!!! I feel sooo much better!! The horrible pain is gone. It's a little sore from the cut but I am fine, Thank God and thank you ladies for all your prayers!!! Today I'm not going to the gym because I want to give my tooth time to heal a bit. I will be exercising from home though and getting my exercise in. I am bummed that I can't go to the gym but I'll be back there before I know it....

Mel~ Have fun at the gym!! I am soo jealous..lol. You're doing great. I truly believe that you inspire alot of us on this board including me. Before you know it you'll be in the 180's!!! YAY!!

hey gals quick one for me! :) Thanks to those of you that commented on helping m choose a plan. I think that I am going to read a little on each one, and am leaning towards SBD. Jilly I would love to be your sbd buddy, if that is the plan that I think will work the best! I am going to take stock of EVERYTHING in the house this week and get rid of it as fast as possible and start over with the right kind of recipes that I need to lose weight! Sinus pressure kept me up all night so I am going to nap a little before dd gets back here after pre-school ! I work again tonight, so I probably won't be back here. :( Have a great day ladies! :) Love to you all! :grouphug:

Kristin~ I just read your post from yesterday. I hope you feel better soon. I will be praying for your grandma too. As far as the 2 plans go. I've done the South Beach Diet and it works great. I really liked it. The only downfall for me was I love my pasta. I just recently started reading Dr. Phil's book. I've lost alot of weight before but I was never able to keep it off. I am mainly reading his book so I can maintain my weight loss once I reach my goal. I know of people who have used his plan and said it really works. Those are both great choices... YOU CAN DO IT!!!!! I've missed you! I've never told you either thank you for the Christmas card. I put it in my scrapbook..Sydney is Gorgeous. Have a great OP day.

Jeniqua - I'm so glad you're feeling better. Take it easy today. How do you like Dr. Phil's book so far? I thought it was great; I read it awhile ago.
I think Jeremy has an ear infection, so I'm taking him to the doctor today at 2:30. The boys are out of school again this Thurs and Fri due to teacher in-service days, so they won't be in school much this week since they were out yesterday. Sean was so funny - he got up this morning and thought there was no school again. Sorry to disappoint! LOL!
It's been hard for me to stay OP this weekend and yesterday, but I'm back on track today. I didn't really do anything terrible, but I went to Starbucks on Saturday and had most of a caramel macchiato (sp?). I tried to make up for it later in the day, but I don't know how well I did. Today is a new day, though, right?
I applied for my "dream job" yesterday, which is working for our local SPCA as an Adoption Counselor. I really, really, really want this job!!! We got our dog, Heidi, from them and they do great things. So, everyone, keep your fingers crossed that I hear back from them soon. Ok, I'll check back later tonight.

Jeniqua-Glad you got some relief from the tooth. Hopefully it heals fast. So your little one has a fever today? Darn this time of year. I've lucked out, mine haven't caught too many bugs so far.
Kristin-I bought the SBD book the other day. I'm thinking about trying that out too. Everyone seems to be having great luck with it. I also have diet cd that has a ton of recipes for SB, Atkins, and other low-carb recipes. My cousin has pcos and she is pre-diabetic. Her doctor told her to try the South Beach diet. He wants her to get her weight down instead of putting her on more meds. If doctor's are willing to recommend it, it can't be all bad.
Gretchen-Sounds like a great job opportunity! I hope you get it. I love animals, but I get attached to easy. I always wanted to be a vet when I was growing up until I saw a cat who was seriously hurt and didn't think I could handle seeing an animal in pain, even if it was too help them. An adoption counselor sounds like a dream job to me. Of course, I'd be adopting all the dogs and cats out to myself. :D
Deana-Laundry...the endless problem! I have a ton to do. While we were painting last week, it was the last thing on my mind. Now I'm back up to Mount Washmore AGAIN! Have fun with your lunch date! My SIL takes my little girl out for "dates" once a month or so and that's what they go for...Chinese food. It makes Kayla feel really special and she loves spending time with her Aunt Robbie. Her names Robin, but we call her Robbie or Obbie, or Obba Shoes...(I know, we're strange!)
Michelle-I got my Gazelle going last night. I LOVE IT! My legs felt like jello for a while after I got done. I can feel it working. I read mixed reviews on it too but I think it'll be fine for me, esp. since it's easy on my joints.
Penny-We are watching you! You make sure you get your buns to the gym later... :lol:
Morning Melissa-Let see-you've probably already put in an 1 1/2 of exercise and are Energizer Bunnying the way through the rest of the day. Am I right?

Good morning everyone.
It is so nice here today. In the 60's, but it'll go back to 30's and 40's on Thursday. I am opening my windows and airing out my house from the sickies. Not much really going on here. I am getting ready to go work out. I have been taking my dinner to school with me at night. I am tired of these other girls saying, "Oh, I need to lose weight," but then they eat out every single night. Not only am I saving money, but I am eating healthy(ier) most of the time. Any way, have a great day. one of these days I will get personal. Love ya all!

Hey there ladies! It was warm here yesterday. Close to 60! I loved it, it was sunny and everything. Was a nice change after all the cold, thick fog we had been having the past few days. Remember when I told you all I was going to go tanning yesterday? Well I did and made sure I only went for 15 minutes and I got sooooooooooooo burned!!! I was supposed to take pics for the MLW site but I'm too embarrassed now!! lol If it didn't hurt so bad it would be funny! Anyway I hope I don't peel because what would the point of tanning be if it peeled all off? So today is no gym but I'll do the challenge here at home. Since my schedule is kind of crazy I have decided to just go Monday, Wednesday, Friday. I think that will work well and still give me time to get homework and such done.
For anyone contemplating the SBD I actually really like it. After the first few days the cravings I used to have for bad carbs and sugar are gone and I can get satisfied with what I am allowed. It's nice. I also found a great recipe for deep dish pizza on the 3fc site here under SBD phase 1 entrees and made it last night and it was soooooooooooooooooooo good! I mean there was no bread involved but the way you make it, it really tastes like pizza. I encourage anyone to try it whether you are on SBD or not.
Jeniqua I am so glad you got your tooth fixed! Did the dentist send you to the ER? Or did you just go there yourself? Either way I'm glad it's fixed and you can finally have some relief! I hope you got some rest tonight. Take care of that little boy today!

Hi Deana! Laundry is never ending here so I don't even try to do ALL of it. I just do some when I can and try to keep it in the hampers instead of overflowing onto the floor! lol That's about as good as I can do at this point in time. Hope you get all of yours done though.

Kristin, sorry, I didn't post about your diet. I think SB would be good. OH BTW, I know you have started drinking diet soda. A trainer, healthy lifestyle coach is coming to talk at my local group and he says diet soda can make you gain weight, so beware.
Deana, have fun at lunch with the kids! I bet it'l be nice. Watch that salt. It did me in the other day. The scale said 199 this morning. Grrrrrrrrr. I hate TOM and salt. TOM is due in about 1 1/2 weeks. I just wish I would get it over with.
Chris, laundry is a killer. I don't mind so much doing it, but it's endless. And socks,,....where do they go? Kids never seem to have any. I have a bag of single socks, just waiting to find its mate...lol.....Yes, you are right. I am back for a total of hmmmm LM see....challange was 10 minutes and 35 cardio and 25 weights and stretching. so that's 1 hour and 10 minutes... I had had enough. How's the gazelle?
Ricci, enjoy the nice weather. Hope it doesn't get too cold for ya. I agree though, open those windows and air out the germs. That's what I do every warm day we get. Which isn't much! Was only 10degrees when I took dd to school this a.m.
OK gals, like I said above. I did 1 hour of exercise and 10minute run challange. I can't believe how much better my running is getting. It's now a real challange to try to get to 10minutes straight. I did 5 minutes walked for 2 and ran 5 again. Five minutes straight running 5mph was huge for me. Anyway, bbl...have a good one all.

Kristin- first of all, I'm so sorry to hear of your DGM! I hope that you will be healthy soon, you've had a rough fall/winter season haven't you! Hope you feel better! Also, SBD sounds really good to me! Your first two weeks are like Atkins, those are tough because of the reduction of carbs, however, You will find that you will feel so great after that time. Cravings will be down and you will have so much energy. The best place to find out more is here at 3fc! I'd go down the forum lurk and ask questions! These gals are living it and have lots of great advice! Don't forget to read the book!!

Here's the deep dish Pizza recipe, tell me if you make it and what you think!
Preheat oven to 350*, and spray a 10" pie plate with Pam.
1lb xlean ground turkeybreast or ground beef
1 egg, beaten
1/4 cup finely chopped onion
1/4 tsp. garlic powder
1/4 tsp. basil
1/4 cup shredded parmesan
Pat into bottom and up sides of pie plate. Bake about 20 minutes.
In medium bowl mix together-
1 cup ricotta
1/2 cup shredded mozzarella
1/2 cup jarred spagetti sauce (I use Cento brand)
1-2 Tbsp. pesto
Spoon into the hamburger crust and top with chopped veggies of your choice. I used red peppers, mushrooms, onions and black olives. Sprinkle with a little mozzarella. Bake another 20-25 minutes til bubbly. Let cool about 10 minutes before serving. Mangia!

Quickie from me, I am on my lunch break!
6 crying babies, spit up and...well, you all know - what a glorious job!!! It's really tough trying to work and be a good mom! At the moment I really have no choice, though. DH went to work today, we'll see how that goes, I don't think he is ready, but he had to try. He's stubborn and won't listen to me anyway. MEN!!! LOL!! My ds went to school and told his teacher he couldn't do homeowrk because he had to help his sick dad get around!!!!!!! He's not having a good week so far, he's in big trouble!! Makes me wonder if he's acting out because of all the changes in our lives lately. Makes me feel like I should be home more. Anyway...I keep venting, but you all feel free to just ignore my rantings!! LOL!!
I have eaten pretty well this week so far, but I WANT CHOCOLATE! a milkshake would be good too. OOOPS sorry! I am having a weak moment! But I haven't given in so far.

Hey Ladies I just got back from the doctor and I've lost 8 lbs since they saw me on Dec. 28th. She was pretty proud of me, I told her about my gazelle and the BLC and she was just ecstatic. She's thinking of getting a gazelle too. Bad news is that I think I passed out this morning, I got up to let the dogs out and I got really dizzy and started sweating, like it was pouring off of me literally and so I got a drink of water and sat down on the chair in the kitchen and next I knew I was on the floor. I was fine after a few minutes, I asked the doc if my bp was okay and she said yes so I explained the situation to her and she says it really sounds like I had low blood sugar I told her that would make sense since I hadn't eaten since 6pm the night before. She told me to eat first thing when I wake up now. Also I was informed that I need to have my pap repeated :( every 3 months for the next year! :( apparently after you have a cold knife cervical conization you have to be monitored pretty closely and when they did my pap they didn't get up into my cervix far enough :( So that was a bit unpleasant to hear.
Jilly that pizza sounds good!! I think I'll make that tomorrow!
Mel way to go on the exercise! I have a lot of school work to do so i'm not planning any but I did already do 10 minutes on the gazelle at 6mph so for me that's running lol.
Okay I really need to get to work on my homework so I'll bbl when I'm done!

Roxy-Per your rave review of the Village, I rented it last night. Talk about a twist in there huh? I'm not going to tell anybody what it's about. I don't want to ruin it. My ex Dh said another good one to watch is Cellular. Another psychological thriller. I love those kind of shows.
Michelle-My blood sugar gets really low sometimes too but not low enough to make me pass out...Kind of scary. Sorry to hear you have to get your paps done every 3 months. I had the LEEP procedure on mine and I had to go in every 6 months for almost 2 years. Mine was high-grade carcinoma-in-situ too. That scared the crap out of me. I found out at the beginning of my pregnancy with Nicole. I had to wait for 10 months until they could do the surgery. I was on egg shells for a long time. Congrats on the weight loss too. What meds did they put you on for your thyroid? My dh is on levoxyl 125 mcg (i think that's it) and they still can't get his thyroid hormone at a decent level. His weight went down initially but now he's back to being tired and run down. I bet they'll up his meds again. BTW-I love having the jello legs. Those gazelle's are awesome.
Cindi-I don't know how you do it. I could not handle 6 crying babies. I'd have a migraine... :) Hang in there! Kids react to change differently than we do. YOur son maybe getting in trouble just because he doesn't know what else to do or how to handle his emotions.
Jill-That pizza sounds awesome. I'm trying to find foods to cook that the whole family will eat and then I won't have to be a short order cook. I am seriously thinking about SBD. Then me, you and Kristin could work the kinks out of our weight loss together.
Mel-I'm really liking my gazelle. My legs muscles are even a little sore from yesterday. A feeling I could definitely get used to. Its a good ache. I still have to do my challenge but have glided on the gazelle for 15 min. so far today. It's fun, and quiet...I can watch tv and still get some exercise in.
Darn it! I've procrastinated enough. Back to the laundry problem at hand. Check back later.

How many calories do you it in a day?
A: 1400-1700 per day.
There is a figure that you can do to figure out what you should eat in order to lose X amount of pounds per week. I will find it and post the site that has it. Maybe this will help some stay on track. This would be no matter what kind of diet you are on.

I eat between 1500 and 1700 a day. Sometimes I go more... Depends on how hungry I am or how much exercise I've done.

Chris, I am now on Armour Thyroid 2 grain a day Armour is dessicated pig thyroid and a lot of physicians are hesitant to prescribe it but we changed mine after I complained that I have too many pills to take and hardly ever remembered to take my afternoon dose of cytomel (T3) so I was taking 75 mcg of synthroid in the morning along with 25mcg of cytomel and my weight pills and then another 25 mcg dose of cytomel in the afternoon. The advantage to Armour is that it has both t3 and t4 in it and since being on it I feel a lot better than when I was just on the seperate synthetics. I still get tired a lot but I've actually felt much better physically and my endurance has gotten better as well. They found my carcinoma in sutu (stage 3) when I was pregnant too I had one small biopsy while being pregnant then another after I had her. On top of everything else I had going on lol.
Mel you're right I should eat more, I also need to eat a little later at night. I didn't know what was going on this morning but it freaked me out a bit.
Chris I'm glad you like the gazelle! My calves were killing me but I just pushed through the pain and they finally don't hurt so bad lol.

OK all, here is a link to find out how many calories for MAINTANENCE. Enter the info and it will give you a number for maintanence. Subtract 500 from that number for steady slow weight loss. I did light activity and heavy to see the difference. I based my food on the light activity to lose a bit more in a week. LMK what your numbers come out like.

Michelle-There is a gal on the depression thread who takes that armour thyroid medicine too. So does her son. I'm just waiting to see what they do with Kelly. I know he has an appt. soon to check those growths that are on his thyroid. It worries me but he says he's not scared at all. I was a Stage IV. They did a coloscopy on my when I was 16 weeks along and he left me alone until I was 8 wks post-partum. It's all good now though. My last pap was negative again so he says he doesn't want to see me for a year. Fine by me....

Chris I know who you are talking about Cathy? Shes a great lady! Love her! I had a goiter on my thyroid which had to be removed with part of my thyroid, my goiter caused me to be hyperthyroid.

Okay omg you've got to be kidding me! It said 2220.4 calories per day, that's a lot to maintain!! so if I cut 500 calories I could consume 1700 calories per day! Wow, I dunno that's a lot for me. I really don't have that kind of appetite. Any input?

Get this...If I subtract the 500 calories...I need to consume 1660-2300 calories a day to lose. I guess that's doable for me. I'm usually around 1500-1700.
I wonder if we could get enough people together to do teams for the challenge? I got a suggestion.....Please, no more sit ups... ;)

Jill - the recipe sounds really yummy - I'll have to give it a try. You must be fair-skinned like I am. I could never do tanning because I'd burn up. Ouch!
Melissa - you exercise maven! Way to go with your exercise routine! I eat about 1400-1600 cals per day, which is less than the chart said to lose weight. Well, this is what feels good for now, I could always tweak it later.
Roxy - Yes, I talked to my husband. He had no clue (yeah, right) that he was tempting me.
Cindi - 6 crying babies? And you wonder why you are craving chocolate?
Michelle - OMG, that is so scary with the fainting. I have had blood sugar ups and downs my whole adult life and it is very scary. I hope you do what you have to do so that doesn't happen again.

Hi Jeniqua, Kristin, and everyone else.
I took the boys out to Cheeburger Cheeburger tonight (Matt worked late) and had a salad with fat-free dressing with grilled chicken. It was really good! I'm sure it wasn't totally low-calorie since I had some cheese, a few black olives, and the chicken itself, but it was the best thing on the menu.
Well, I've got Bible study tomorrow, then Curves, so I'll talk to everyone in the afternoon.

Just wanted to pop in and say that I calculated my calories and I need to consume 1386 to lose weight. I haven't been counting them at all so I have no idea. I'm losing though so I am guessing I am in that range. I suggestion for those of you that said you can eat more calories according to the website, I would eat more if I were you and just make sure they were vegetables, lean protein, whole foods etc. that way your body knows it's getting enough, you feel full and your body can start letting go of the excess. Just my opinion, well and that of a lot of books I have read! lol Probably something you all know anyway but I still like to share since that is the way I finally got a bulk of my weight off a few years back. Anyway speaking of eating, I need to go make dinner. I'll be back later to get personal. TTYL

Jill you are absolutely right. It's ok to get those calories as long as they are good foods. sometimes when you arent getting enough, you dont' lose either. As I know all to well.

I just got home, getting hubby's bookwork done for errands tomorrow and off to an early bed for me...
I am not sure why I am so fatigued lately... I am thinking maybe the added exercise ... I dunno...
I'll calculate my cal's tomorrow and QOTD: I have never counted my cals so I have no idea...lol
I am thinking of those who are going through hard times right now... (hugs)

I did get a migraine today from all the crying. I got a new baby and he missed his mommy. Poor guy!! I got him quiet about the time his mom got back!! He's a doll...I love the challenging ones the best!
Michelle...all those paps!! yuck!! But what's the alternative? It's worth it to know everything is okay.

I sure am glad you all are here. I am having some difficulty with emotional eating, so I keep coming back so you can keep me on track. I have been off plan for so long, and I know it's because I eat with stress. I also know I need to take my thyroid meds, but the thyroid condition keeps me from remembering to take it!! Isn't that special?? Does anyone else have a brain disorder that keeps their body from ever feeling full or is it just me? Seems I can eat quite alot and it never seems to satisfy me. I have to eat well, I haven't got what it takes to do much exercise these days, but I want to!!!!
I am sorry girls, but my throat hurts alot now!!!Just started about an hour ago and is getting worse rapidly. Just what I needed this week. WOnder if it'll get me a day off...I doubt it!!!

I did that weight maintenance thing, for all four settings. For sedentary, I would need to eat 2363.75 a day to maintain. For heavey activity, 3215.7. That's between 1800 and 2700 a day to lose. Hmmm. That seems like a lot. If I can manage to get rid of the soda altogether, I would be taking in a lot less calories a day, just with that one little change. That is going to be my short term goal. In two weeks, I my goal is to drink no more soda.
As far as food, I don't really know where all the calories come from, I don't eat as much as I used to, but I couldn't tell you what I have had to eat in the past 3 days, if you held a gun to my head. So, for the next two weeks, while I am working on giving up soda, I am just going to write down everything that I eat. Then take a look at what I have been eating. Brutal honesty here, everything, chocolate, everything!
Hey, I do have a question, has anyone tried that Brummel & Brown yogurt spread? I've been using that instead of butter and it's supposed to healthier than butter.

Hey ladies. I had a really OP dinner but forgot the faux mashed potatoes (made out of cauliflower) and left the table still hungry and wondering what I could eat. I'm a bad night snacker anyway so I was looking over the SBD thread on here and found a recipe for chocolate peanut butter cookies and am baking them right now. I'll let you know how they turn out and post the recipe if they were any good. Anyway busy school day for me and I still have homework so I am going to keep this short, if that's possible lol!
Tabitha my bil just cut out soda and lost like 15 pounds in 2 weeks! I know it's slower for women but just think of that alone!! I know you can do it!!

Mel thanks for that site, it was cool. It's good to have some sort of gauge in my mind so that I don't go too overboard since SBD doesnt limit calories, just certain foods, you can still go overboard though especially if you are vertically challenged like me! lol
Michelle scary about the passing out! I'm glad you are ok though. Try to eat more often during the day. I know I have told you this before but I am just a worry wart sometimes! Sorry about the paps but better safe then sorry right?
