WW Clubs and Groups - Thursday Chatters Continued for the New Year

I figured it was taking some a long time to get to the thread. Six pages is a lot!!!!!
For anyone new to this site----we follow WW and mostly weigh-in on Thursdays. However, anyone is more than welcome. Come join in the conversations.
I'm ready for Spring----emotionally, that is. I have some work to do before getting into my "Spring wardrobe." I put that in quotes because I really don't have a wardrobe, per se. I've heard that green will be the in color this year.

Everyone have a good OP day. I'm off to the treadmill.

Thanks for starting us off on a new thread, Tina. I like green, just don't have much in that color. Guess I'll have to get something.

Tammy, I can just see you typing with pencils. Maybe you can dictate your message to Tim and he can type :D I'll be thinking about you on Thursday.

Well guess I better go get ready to get my hair colored and trimmed. Certainly don't want to not look presentable when I walk in. :) I've had a good week OP so I hope I see some progress on the scale this week.

Oh, man, most of my clothes are pink and purple from last year. But I don't want to shop until I lose more. I did get my hair cut and colored last week, but I haven't decided if I like it yet or not... for a hundred bucks, you'd think I'd know right away. I'm not really getting ready for spring, I'm getting ready for hubby to come home from iraq next month -- hooray.

Good luck and lots of positive vibes to everyone trying to meet their goals for this week.

Oh Freeda,
I know you're excited about your husband getting home. How long has he been in Iraq and where is he?
I hope your haircut and all are "acceptable" to you. We always take a chance when we get it done.

5 months, 2 weeks, 6 days. lol. But who's counting... We're not supposed to talk about where they are, though.

I sent him a pic, he said the hair was good, but he wouldn't ever say anything bad about it. He's a doll.

He'll come home for a few days, but then he moves into the barracks in IL. We bought our house for after he retires, so we'll be living separately until 2006. No biggie though, it's only a 3 hr drive and he has lots of leave saved up.

Freeda,
Let me start by saying a BIG THANK YOU to your husband for protecting our country. And to you for living that lifestyle. I know it's hard being separated from him. I grew up in San Antonio and was around military bases my entire life. My hat is off to you, your husband and all of those in the Armed Forces.

I have been off plan since Friday, but I started over again today. I just find it so hard to eat out at restaurants because I am so picky. So hopefully I will see a loss on Friday. I worked out a bit yesterday, and got my nails done. Tomorrow I am going to get my hair done, trimmed up and some perdy highlights. What really motivates me is seeing someone at the size I want to be, and just by looking at the cute skinny clothes. I may have gained most my weight in 3 months, but I know I can't lose it in that short time.

Hopefully my stomach will shrink soon so I can feel full on less food, that will really help.

Tina
01-18-2005, 05:58 PM
I know the motivation of looking at those cute skinny clothes.
When I reached Lifetime (eons ago :) ), I went to the store and tried on a slinky, black evening dress. I didn't buy it. I didn't, and still don't, have any use for one. But, it was wonderful just slipping it on.
Maybe I should set my goal of slipping one on again.

Good luck to everyone, staying OP this week.

Tammy

I can just see me typing with a pencil in my mouth! I can't dictate all of this private information to Tim! He might learn too much (or he might think that I'm crazy!!).

Hey! I got my hair trimmed and colored after school today. Sara told me that if I needed to go somewhere where I needed to look nice to call and she'd wash and curl my hair. She said not to let Bob and Tim come at me with the curling iron.

Freeda, SALUTE to you and hubby!!!

Tina, how cool with the slinky dress! I'll just try on my silky long johns. lol

01-18-2005, 10:14 PM
Hi,

Tammy, I'm laughing at your post. I can just picture you with a pencil. Then Tim learning way too much :)

I got my hair colored today. It always feels so much better.

Well, I blew it today. Didn't make it to exercise and then my food was horrible and went way over on my points. Luckily I just started a new week yesterday so I had all of my flex points. I'll just have to be good the rest of the week.

Tina, is it warming up down there? It's suppose to here tomorrow. I'm so ready for spring too. When I get thin I'm buy me a slinky black dress even if I just wear it here at home.

And, Tammy--we will all be thinking about you tomorrow when you have your surgery. I just know things will work out fine.

Tammy
01-19-2005, 08:35 PM
Thanks! I can't wait to have it over with. It has to help having it done because the pain is just getting worse each day. Couldn't have anything to do with grading papers could it? lol

I don't know when I'll be on here and able to type messages. I may have to do it with 1 finger. That will drive me crazy!!! (crazier.)

Hi,

Hope everyone had a good day. I had a great surprize when I looked up and noticed a car pulling in the driveway and it was a former student (he is now 22) and his grandmother. It was great seeing them.

Tammy, you will be in my prayers tomorrow. Wish I was there to help you out.
Tina, it was great weather here today. Was it there?
Meagan, 1/2 pound is a good loss. It will come off.

I'm anxious to weigh tomorrow and see how I've done. I've been working hard and hope to see some progress and then I'll put up a thingy :)

Good luck weighing in.

Tammy,
On the third day, you ar going to wish you didn't have it done!! You will really hurt on that day and then you will start feeling better. Just keep taking your pain meds.
I've learned this from all of my surgeries.

Well I did good today. Dinner was great, I learned a great tool for eating with the family who isn't dieting. For dinner I had fried catfish, homemade macaroni and cheese, broccoli with cheddar cheese sauce, and apple sauce. The thing is, I had only a tiny bit of the bad stuff. But it was enough to satisfy me. Anyways, I really do not expect to lose weight tomorrow morning, but who knows what will happen. All I know is no matter what happens I have to keep on going and start over, try harder, and don't starve myself from the things I crave.

Tina
01-20-2005, 08:24 PM
Hi Everyone,
Meagan, you sound like you have things under control. I like your eating pattern. You are right---we are not supposed to starve. In fact, we can eat everything, just so it is in our point range.

Is anyone following the Core Plan? I tried it when it first came out. I do much better with counting points. I think I can be in control better.

Hopefully Tammy had successful surgery today and is resting without pain.

Good luck to everyone.

Hey, Tammy----I've tried twice sending you an e-mail but it comes back to me. I wonder if your server is down. I tried Wednesday and last night. Hmmm.....
It's a beautiful day here. The temp was up to 77 yesterday. However, another cool front is on its way to get us.

Hi all! Surgery went well. the doctor said that my hand was worse than he expected. Might take longer for recovery. Bob and Tim have been great. Bob even took off work to stay home and pamper me. lol I like that. This is taking forever to type! I had notes from the principal and the superintendent this morning on e-mail! I was surprised. No, I think the word was shocked.

By the way, I just noticed that I had some PM. I am not totally with it.

Do you know that it is hard to open a diet pepsi with one hand?

Tina
01-21-2005, 03:13 PM
Tammy, it's so good to hear from you. You sound great!!!!! No, I don't know how hard it is to open that Pepsi but can just imagine. Hey, you have Bob to open your Pepsis today. :):):)
Take it easy.
Oh, that Is amazing that your principal e-mailed you. Wow, will wonders never cease.
Tina

Tammy
01-21-2005, 06:22 PM
LOL Bob was shocked about the principal's message also.

My SIL called to tell me some info. There was a board meeting last night about school finances. Suddenly we are in $ trouble. Shouldn't someone have seen this coming? The board said they will be cutting 5 positions. That isn't just teaching positions. I know one of our 4th grade teachers is retiring, so that's one. They mentioned doing a dual bus route to cut back on buses and drivers, so that could be 1 or 2 more positions. I think I'll be safe with 28 years of teaching. They hired our Athletic Director last year for a starting salary of $63,000. That didn't include his coaching pay for basketball. I have 28 years and a Master's degree. I've been in the same school system all 28 years, and I don't make near what that AD was hired for in his first year in our school. I say get rid of him, and hire me for that position!!lol

Hey Tammy,
You sound GREAT! I know you are glad that it's behind you now. Wow, I can't believe the principal and the superindendent wrote you. I agree with you on the Athletic Director! They make a lot of $ and it never seems to make it down to the teachers.

Enjoy Bob's pampering.

Howdy,
I got together with some of my friends from school last night. It was a lot of fun. However, tonight I have a challenge. We are going to dinner with a couple at our favorite Italian restaurant. I'm not a big Italian eater and normally get pasta with shrimp in a butter/garlic sauce. Now what am I going to get???? Any suggestions???? Red sauce doesn't really agree with my stomach.

It's Saturday! It's a beautiful, warm day so far. A cold front is coming. :o
Sis, you've been quiet lately. What's going on in your part of the country? Are you snowed in? I see where it's been chilly up your way.
Tina2, where are you girl?
Maureen, you've been way too quiet.
Tammy, I hope you aren't hurting too much this morning.....the day after.
Susan, I have a suggestion for your meal. When we go to Olive Garden, I always get a chicken dish that has green & red peppers, mushrooms and stuff like that. Maybe you could find something similar.

I just made the best key lime pie. It's WW.
I've got to run for now but will post the recipe for anyone who might not have it.
Tina

Tammy
01-22-2005, 08:57 PM
I am definitely enjoying the pampering. Bob broiled a chicken breast for me for supper. He had to cut it up for me. How embarrassing!
My fingers and hand have not been numb since I came out of surgery. Do you know how long it has been since I haven't had numbness? Seems like forever! Bob reminded me of a vacation we took a few years ago when my right hand kept going numb. Maybe that was the beginning of the problems way back then.

Mimi, I can't count the number of little naps that I've taken the past couple of days. I'll be sitting and reading, the next thing I know I'm waking up! Kramer enjoys the naps too! lol

I'm hungry for Italian now. Or key lime pie. I guess I'll have some popcorn, but it sure won't be the same.

Hi,
I ended up having a seafood combo pasta. It had scallops, shrimp and mussels on top of the pasta. It was yummy. Don't think I did too bad, I left a lot of the pasta in my bowl.

Tammy, it sounds like you are doing well. I'm so glad you don't have numbness. It's only going to get better from here.

Tina, did it get cold down there? It made it down to 23 this morning. I looked as I went out to feed animals. Too cold!!!

Tammy; my fingers have been going numb for years. I probably would have had to have surgery long ago if I had stayed working at the lab. I take it easy when at the keyboard too, always use a wrist rest. hopefully I will put it off indefinately. Keep napping.
Susan that seafood sounds great. I am going out to a steak house on Wed. Wish me luck.
Tina; mmmm lime pie or any pie for that matter I even love mincemeat.
Chix; The important thing is to hang in with the program even if you get off the path for a day or too you can always jump back on. Thats one of the reasons that the WW program works so well it leaves some wiggle room for those cravings. Let us know how the weekend went.
Freeda; How did your weekend go? I always found them to be the hardest, too much time around the kitchen.

Hi Ya'll,
hope everyone had a good day. It's been a little emotional here. I don't know if I told you about the photo shoot that one of the NICU nurses is doing for the March of Dimes..... and she is naming the project after Seamus. Anyway.... we went and did our photo of our hands holding some of Seamus' things. As I pulled out his blankets I felt like I had been hit in the stomach. I noticed Pat was a little irriatble until we got there and were on the way home. Neither of us said anything but I think it was hard on both of us. It kicks off March 7 in Austin.

Tina, I'll have to tell you when it comes to Houston.
Mimi, I know I've said it before, you are such an inspiration with your weight loss journey!
Tammy, what did you get to eat today?
Chix, Mimi is right, hang in there. I get frustrated when I do't see the progress I think I should be making. I'm not doing that this time.

Stay warm!

Susan

Tammy
01-24-2005, 07:02 AM
Susan, you did tell us about the photo shoot. When I started reading your message just now, I know that I felt a punch in my stomach, and I never knew precious Seamus. It's just that I know how much doing this hurts you and Pat, but it is for a good thing. God bless both of you.

Ate alot of leftovers on Sunday. Yes, I still had to have Bob cut some of my food. lol

I don't have to keep my hand elevated anymore, so that makes things a bit more comfortable. I'm up to make sure Tim got up, then I'm heading back to bed. Ahh, what a nice feeling that brings!!!!

auntie
01-24-2005, 04:51 PM

I met with my Emmaus Share group last night for supper. Trish cut my food up for me. lol She said she is used to it. She has 3 children, plus 2 foster children, AND she babysits! Brave woman.

I overdid it yesterday. I wrote some checks which was too much activity for the hand. Need to slack off today. I'm good at slacking!!

In the Avon book, it says you can get a 2-week pass for Curves if you spend $10 on Avon. I might do it just to see IF I can do it anymore with the fibromyalgia. Won't try it until after my hand is healed though.

Hope everyone has a great Tuesday! I think it's Tuesday.

Tina
01-25-2005, 09:29 AM
Happy Tuesday! I'm a lazy person today, already! I got up early (6:45 a.m.) to feed our cat. He was hungry and since he's lost some weight lately, I will feed him whenever. Anyway, I got my breakfast, took it back to bed, and here I am finally out of bed.
Tammy, it sounds great that you are out and about. But, you don't need to overdo. Check writing can be hazardous to your health. :)
Do try going to Curves again. I'll bet there is some exercise you can do there.
How is everybody??????

Go to user CP at the top left corner.
Go to edit(create) signature when you get to that page you will see a box to paste your thingy in.
Make sure you save your signature.

Oh wow, I made a post earlier and it never showed up. I wonder where they all go ? :)

I haven't done my thingy yet either. Acutally, I'm afraid that if I do it then I won't lose anything. Silly thinking isn't it? I weigh in tomorrow so I'll know and make it then. I promise.

I went to Curves today. I've been working so hard there that I'm soaked when I'm done. I've worked up to 45 killer crunches too. I better see some inches gone too when I get measured.

Mimi, you'd love Curves. I'll see if I can find out if the pictures will be posted on the website.
Tammy, you are doing great getting out and about. Take it easy.
Tina, how was your lazy morning? Aren't they great!

I'm going tomorrow to have lunch with one of my friends tomorrow. Then next Friday, I'm going to San Antonio for a week. It's my mom's 70th birthday so I'm going to stay the week.

Good luck with everyone's weigh in.

I will try to go to Curves with the coupon from Avon when I receive it. I should be all healed by then, right?

Mimi, I tried to follow your directions. We'll see what happens. If not, I'll be sending you directions to get to my house. And I agree with Susan about Curves. I really enjoyed it when I was going. I quit going after Bob had his car accident, and financially we just didn't think we could swing it.

Tammy, I agree your traceker does look great.

I'm anxious to go home, I haven't been down there since the week before Thanksgiving. My brother and I are going down a week from Friday. I'll be there for Seamus' 7 month birthday, so I'll have my mom do the balloon release with me. It's really a tender moment for me and it will be nice for my mom to share it with me.

I'm sorry about those cramps. No fun there!
I'm definitely going to the meeting tomorrow. I haven't been since before the holidays and need to start back. I eat so healthily and still don't lose--well, except for those egg rolls last night. :o I'm tired of this. {gripe, gripe, gripe}

I worked all weekend but I will get the stuff and try to make it next weekend. It will be a challenge finding the crust. I may have to make my own.
Mike starts cooking tomorrow at school and the first thing they learn is rolls. I just love rolls so I hope he doesn't want to try those at home. I better save all of my "wild" points.

It's funny, I was starting to type when I got the notice you had posted. :) Great minds! Well, I'm down another 3 pounds..... wonder if it will stay off once I start eating again. I did drink lots of real sprite so I know I had more points than I thought. Hopefully it will stay off!

I've been asked to sub when I come back from San Antonio in a deaf ed class. I'm actually excited about it. I think they wanted me this week but I said I wasn't feeling good and I was out of town next week. Pretty good when I don't even have my application filled out. Guess I better go get it and get it completed. Even though I hate to sub, I know if I want to go back to deaf ed, I'll have to do it to get my foot in the door.
