A half serving of cereal with skim milk, or a slice of wheat bread with 2 teaspoons of reduced fat peanut butter and a half teaspoon of honey and I wash it down with 1/2 a cup of skim milk - it is the next best thing to a peanut butter cookie!

yogurts
oranges
apples
grapefruits
string cheese
a bagel
and this week's lifesaver: cinnamon granola bars :D
I just made a small salad for dinner:
1 small avocado, chunked
1/2 pink grapefruit, peeled & sectioned & chunked
Mix & sprinkle with cracked pepper. YUMMMMMM

yeah, I need to get some string cheese.
so far I've been making veggie salads with a whole mix of different veggies and some low fat dressing and a little parm. it's good finger food when i need to munch!
One thing i found i liked is an apple cut off the core and sliced to look like apple sticks with some lemon juice on them.
what about pretzels? too many carbs for everyone?

by the way, how do you all feel about things like granola bars (is one brand better than another?), and rice cakes?

I absolutely LOVE the Quakers' "Quakes" (little rice cake *scoops*) that come in Ranch, Cheddar and Caramel Corn. My favorite is the Ranch.......... I LOVE the crunch. Great alone, with soup, with cheese, with a salad! (I don't count carbs, I count healthy calories......:) )

Nature Valley cinnamon granola bars rock my socks. :D
I can do carbs, pretzels are a go-to food from the vending machine if I forget to pack anything.
Ooh, trail mix is good, too. Raisins, peanuts & sunflower kernels.

OOOOh, I just got the Nature Valley peanut butter granola bars, and I love them! I always used to get the chewy ones, but these rule!Aren't they awesome??? Nice & crunchy. Not too happy with the sugars/fiber ratio, but I will just have to be patient enough for Kashi to make their own granola bars.
Kashi instant oatmeal packets are awesome for a quick snack at work, so are the little tins of fruit packed in it's own juice or unsweetened applesauce.

i love
hard boiled egg whites
sugar free jello with fruit and some fat free cool whip
clementines
bananas ( my midmorning snack everyday)
chips and salsa. i make my own salsa that i put on everything. i make it so spicy that if i'm eating it with chips i can only eat a little anyway. i get those fat free tostitos. this is a special treat because cornchips on large quantities don't digest well with me.
nice, expensive chocolate. green and blacks organic chocolate comes in big bars with 30 pieces on chocolate. 20 cal a piece. i get the dark or the maya gold and treat myself to a piece every now and then. the sugar contenet is lower than that of heavily processed chocolates so i don't have sugar cravings.
mashed rutabagas. i keep a container in the fridge at all times. when i get a craving for some kind of salty comfort food i get them out. 1/2 cup has 50 cal and half of you daily recomended intake of potasium.

Kashi is making their own granola bars now. yeah! They are yummy too. I don't see them on their website though. I picked up the box at my local health food chain so maybe you can find them near you. They had 3 different flavors and the one I have has almonds and I think dried cranberries plus the grains. Only 110 calories...don't remember the other info. They are different than the Go-Lean Bars. I'll try to remember to come back when I'm home and post more details from the packaging.

PegOH I would love it if you could!! I can't eat their GoLean bars very often (too much protein), but would love it if they had a low sugar, high fiber, high taste granola bar. With cinnamon. :D I'm not too picky or anything, am I?

Okay, I just found the next best thing to Nutter Butters. Yay!!!!!!
The Nature's Valley peanut butter granola bars rule the roost! I tried the cinnamon and oat, but peanut butter kicks all their butts!
I was REALLY missing peanut butter.

I would love to see more info on granola bars from Kashi too!! Like NMmamma, my granola bar of choice right now is also Nature's Valley peanut butter granola bars. I've tried the other flavors but these are definitely the best! Some of my other fav snacks are:
3/4 c. sliced strawberries with equal, 2 tbsp. ff coolwhip and 2 tbsp. go lean crunch cereal. Even got my DD hooked on this one, it's so good!
Blue Bunny lite 85 yogurt (black cherry, YUM!). I freeze it and it's like eating ice cream!
snack sized bags of ff popcorn. I like the kettle corn b/c it has more flavor than the ff butter flavor.
cheese Quakes, but I may have to try those caramel ones, they sound good!
I also love to freeze small to medium sized bananas. I take one out a few minutes before I'm ready to eat it so I can cut the peel off easily. Then I slice it up and eat it with a fork, very yummy!! Plus, freezing them keeps them from going bad too quicky.
That's all I can think of right now b/c these are the ones I have most often. When I find something I like I tend to stick with it for a long time.

I allow myself to eat as many baby carrots and celery as I want in a day. I love crunchy food so these both keep me happy.
I like to have a banana before I work out. It's also an easy food to travel with so I can just stick it into my purse.
I love raspberries or blackberries but I'll usually mix those into my lunch with either yogurt or cottage cheese.
Once in a while I get the light microwavable popcorn. It's tough because the bags are just too big for one person. I'll either wind up throwing a lot of it out or eating it all. :o
Love, love, love grapes. Again with the crunch, but I love a grape that has a good snap to it when you bite into it. Soft grapes arne't my thing. :smug:
I usually have a box of corn pops in my fridge. I rarely have a whole bowl with milk but I like to have a handful or two after dinner for a little treat of sweetness as my last food for the day.

Some ideas that I do are:
Yoplait FF yogurt with 1/2cup of kashi go lean cereal.
Chocolate protien powder, 1/2 cup of grape nuts, and about 1/8 cup of water (stir these ingredients together, and its a chocolatey treat)
Handful of honey teddy grahams,
orange tic tacs,
Fat free, carb select Hot Chocolate with fat free cool whip,
1/2 cup of garbanzo beans,
Frozen mixed fruit with tbsp of cool whip,
handful of mixed nuts,
WASA crackers and low fat spread,
Healthy choice reduced fat, sugar free ice cream,
Avid bars ( i buy them at GNC)

A cup of soy milk or ff/sf yogurt, a little splenda, and some half frozen berries, add the berries slowly to the blender that has the milk in it, until thick like a milkshake. Really does taste like a milkshake, only way better for you. Good to eat before a workout (under 200).
A few olives, an ounce of really good cheddar, and some high-fiber melba toast (under 200).
Oatmeal with a little brown sugar (oatmeal is one of the best things for steadying your blood sugar levels; I can coast for a long time on a bowl of it).
An ounce of dark chocolate!!! Or a cup of vanilla soy milk plus 2 T quality cocoa powder, heated - high in protein, calcium and fiber, and under 150 calories. (and actually quite filling).

Candy canes have just 50 calories! And you can savour them over time if you like to suck on them.
Any snack around 50 cals is great. I also stick with SOURCE yogurt (50 cals) or applesauce (51 cals).

I've posted this in other places, but here goes:
My fave lo-cal snack (when I'm not lo-carbing, which I've been doing lately) is Eggo waffles. They only have 100 calories each and if you get a flavored one, like chocolate chip, you don't even need syrup. Just toast it, grab and go. I used to eat two of them on my way to work for a good carry-along breakfast. I think they'd make a good snack food, too, though.

Wasa crackers are awesome! I at least have 2 boxes in my cupboard at all times. I know this may sound weird but I crush mine up sometimes and put them in my yogurt. Oddly enough, it reminds me of cereal. LOL
-mini bags of 99% fat free kettle corn
-FF pringles
-Blue Bunny lite yogurt
-no sugar added fruit in a cup
-no sugar added apple/cherry pie filling
-kraft/jello no sugar added jello pudding
More to come...
