Carb Counters - Tuesday Chat 1/11
01-11-2005, 09:04 AM
UGH...isn't it Friday yet? I'm so tired. And once again, I'm sick of being tired!! The oldest DD is going to school. Hopefully she decides to walk better than she is now :lol3: Nothing wrong w/her, she's just trying to keep the pad in place. Oh man, the memory THAT all brings back!!! Scale hasn't moved, but I'm sure that's cuz of the exercise and all.
How often should I be doing the step program? Is every day too much? Or was that only for weight lifting? I remember something about every other day to let the muscle "mend"....and I'm guessing the step program isn't muscle building in that respect.
PS. Paula--your student will be in my thoughts and prayers!
01-11-2005, 09:41 AM
Brenda: I have never had any kids never mind a daughter but are tampons out of the question? She may be more comfortable using those :dunno: I don't know if there is such a thing as too much exercise. I think you are doing great. And I saw the picture of your hair color and LOOK HOW THIN YOUR FACE HAS GOTTEN!
Well back to work today....had the test done at the hospital yesterday and they confirmed the IBS. DUH!!!!! I told them that but who am I? I don't have the initials MD after my name....why listen to me. So instead I had to go through a painful procedure (THAT I SHOULD HAVE BEEN KNOCKED OUT FOR!)....apparently they didn't give me enough stuff! I am pissed to say the least. And the nurse in the OR did not help make me feel any better. I could hear the tone in her voice. BIZATCH!
So.....anyway....here is my other delema. All the info on IBS says a low fat diet may help. I may have to go back to doing low carb with low fat....I don't want to do South Beach.....I may just adapt my own low carb diet. I will not leave here so don't worry...as long as you will still all have me I will stick with you. I am going to put some numbers into FitDay today and see what will work the best. I call the doctor back in 7 days and I will check with him then on the diet.
Oh, I am so mad about that pain!!!!!!!!!! Never should have happened...no one I know that has ever had a colonoscopy has felt anything!!!!!! GGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Good Morning Ladies
Urgh I was feeling yucky yesterday so just didi some resting, my tummy was all messed up. I didi good last week right up until the DS's party and I broke down and ate, then I am sure that is what messed up my tummy. But I am not too worried about the mess up this weekend, just jump right back on the horse and get back to my 2 weeks of induction.
Jane- that sucks!!! I hope you feel better soon. No young gals can't use tampons, they can get toxic shock syndrome.
B- Hope you get some rest soon and I totally remember all those feeling about TOM whan I was young and thinking how embarassing it all was....I started TOM when I was 9 yrs old!!! YIKES!
01-11-2005, 11:31 AM
Good Morning !
Again another fly by. Sorry :(
Just know I am thinking about you all
Just a quickie..... Toxic shock is brough on by not changing the tampon enough, not by using it correctly... Please correct me if I'm wrong? But a friend of ours used to work for playex and when the toxic thing first came out, I remember him saying that studies showed it happened b/c women left them in to long.
01-11-2005, 11:41 AM
TG: But I thought you couldn't get toxic shock if you changed it often enough? Boy I know nothing :dizzy:

Good Morning Ladies
Thanks so much for everyones kind words, thoughts and prayers. Yesterday is done and overwith....time to get the rest of things in order. My house for one!!
Brenda~Im NOT looking forward to the day there are 2 women in my house with pms!! Neither is my husband!! My daughter is 8, and hopefully she will take after me and wait until she is 13 before tom arrives!
Jane~Im so sorry about the pain!! Your right, no one should have to feel a thing when that is being done. My dad for some strange reason doesnt want the drugs, dh on the other hand wants to be knocked out cold!
Im off to get my house tidied, then maybe a walk to the market to pick up a few ingredients to try a new lc recipe I found. If it turns out, I'll share!
Have a good one
01-11-2005, 12:19 PM
Yes but they say that teenies should not use them because they don't change them enough, and it is not safe. They are not reliable enought to remember. That is what the Tampon Co. said when we called about my 12 yr old niece.
01-11-2005, 12:22 PM
I hated pads!
01-11-2005, 12:31 PM
God, why is it morning? :coffee:
First of all, has Lisa had that baby yet?
Second, Paula, you and your student are in my thoughts. I hope all goes well.
Brenda - Yes, you can exercise too much! You should give yourself at least one day a week off. 3-5 days a week of exercise are just fine. ;) Also, it's good to switch up what you're doing because our bodies become very efficient at NOT burning as much calories if you're just doing the same thing over and over. LMAO at the pad thing! That's hysterical!
Jane - I'm sorry to hear about the IBS. I wonder what low fat has to do with making it better? You'd think that appropriate and consistent intake of fiber and water would be more likely. Hmmmmmmmmm. And don't you dare leave!!!!
TG - Hope you get feeling better. And that's not quite right about TSS. Anyone that has an appropriate place for a tampon can use one during TOM. It won't damage the hymen and it's not likely to cause TSS. TSS is caused by the cotton fibers if they get caught in the body too long. So using one 'dry' or wearing one for too long used result in TSS. Nowadays, you'll notice that there's usually a fine mesh-like covering on tampons. That does wonders for reducing the risk. Age has nothing to do with it. ;)
Leenie - I miss you!!!!!!!!!!!!
Robin - Glad things are going better!
Has anyone seen Rachel? I'm wondering how she's doing on that water goal of hers.
So much for not drinking coffee! I'm back on it. :coffee: I was so exhausted yesterday that I was sound asleep by 8:30. DH had gone out with some friends since it was his night off. All was well and good until about 11:30 when the f***wit comes in with his friends!!!! The dogs are barking and I wake up and holler for him. I let him know that I was not at all happy and he said that they were just gonna have a quick beer and that his friends would be gone in 15 minutes. 45 minutes later, I had had enough of lying there awake and made it abundantly clear that he had 10 seconds to clear them out before I went postal. I didn't get back to sleep until 1:00 am! So, he's paying for it today. I already woke him up this morning when I got up and had him take the dogs out and make me some coffee - not fun when one is hung over  I've also made it perfectly clear that if he's really sorry for being a dumb ***, that I expect make-up presents :s:
Have a great day everyone!
01-11-2005, 12:38 PM
Good Morning Ladies
Brenda: Sorry that DD is having to go through that. Sometimes it sucks to be a woman!
Jane: Hope that you are feeling better soon. That's awful that you had to be in pain. They should have gave you something stronger to knock you out!
TG: Hope that you are feeling better today! I rested a lot too yesterday! How did the DS's birthday party go? Bet it was a lot of fun!
Leenie:  How's things going at work?
Robin: I'm going to be cleaning today also! May even take a walk too. I have been trying to walk this baby out  Hope your recipe turns out great!
Well, as you can all see, I am still here  I think this baby has decided to be like her daddy....STUBBORN!!!! The contractions come and go, but never get close enough together for me to head to the hospital. DH says it will be today (but he says that everyday) He's working about 45 mins away today and says that he feels like I will go into labor and he will have to fly home. Usually he's only about 10 mins away! Ya never know! I go back to the Dr on Thurs and she said last week if I had no baby by then that we would discuss inducing me the first of next week. The baby is getting big and she says if we wait too long I won't be able to have it without a c-section, and I definately don't want that! So hopefully I'll be a mommy by next week! Well, off to do a little cleaning and maybe take a nap! (ok no maybe about it...definately taking a nap) Hope everyone has a great OP day and I'll check back in a little later!
01-11-2005, 12:38 PM
Star: :lol3: I am cracking up here........I can see me doing the same thing to my DH. How is Pacco doing by the way?
RobinH: Oh I think they "thought" they had me knocked out but SURPRISE! I'm telling you...I have all I can do but call the doctor and ask why that was allowed to happen. I won't be as mad about it in 7 days when I call back :p
Have fun tidying up!
Leenie: You need to quit that job so you can spend time with us!
01-11-2005, 12:41 PM
Lisa: Jump up and down! Maybe that will help. Thinking of you.
01-11-2005, 12:42 PM
Star: You snuck in while I was writting my novel! Shame on your DH for waking you up! Glad that you returned that favor this morning  Can't wait to hear what make-up presents you get! Hope the coffee makes you more awake today! Have a great day!
01-11-2005, 12:44 PM
Lisa - I was a month and 9 days overdue. Hope your little one isn't as stubborn as me! :s:
Jane - Paco's doing good. So far he's being really wonderful and not licking or chewing at the stitches so I haven't made him wear that sad little cone yet. I'm sure that when it starts healing up more and itching, I'll have to put it on. It's so pathetic, it's adorable
01-11-2005, 12:46 PM
Thanks Jane. I may be trying that earlier. But the neighbors will think that an earthquake has hit  I'll try anything once...well anything but castor oil. Everyone has told me to drink that.... No way in H**L I am trying that  Maybe I should go next door to SIL's and jump on the trampoline... now that would be a sight
01-11-2005, 12:49 PM
Star: Watch your mouth girl....a month and 9 days!! Oh heck no!!!!! I can't imagine being that over due. You were stubborn  Your mom must have been MISERABLE!! Glad Paco is doing better. Those cone things are pitiful looking yet adorable. We've never had to use one, but DH's cousin's dog had surgery and he had to wear one. He looked so pathetic, but it was funny looking also!
01-11-2005, 01:03 PM
Hey Lisa - I'm told that sex can induce labor ;) ;)
01-11-2005, 01:38 PM
Lisa~It does!! and if you have a rocking chair, sit in it and rock away....it helps with the baby's head pushing on the cervix and thining and stretching it out nicely for you. Doctor & nurses told me it was wonderful for this, but most women in labour cant sit and rock. That seemed to be the only thing I could do. I had an intense need to rock, they had to go raid the nursery for a rocking chair for me.
Good Luck to you.....Ive been thinking about you
01-11-2005, 01:44 PM
Wow what a contraversy the whole Tampons for teenies post is......sorry ladies just quoting the Tampax Co. when we called about my 12 yr old niece using them. Anywho if it was my kid and there was any chance in the world of getting sick or not...just use the pads! She will earn to deal with it. :)
01-11-2005, 01:47 PM
Lisa, OH gal your day will come and then you will think, OMG why did I want this to come so soon!!! well at least until you get the epidural!!! ahahahahahaha After the epidural you will love the epidural doctor so much you will consider leaving your husband for him!! ahahahahaha :) I said that to my epidural dr and he says he gets those propositions all day long!! hahahahaha He/ Or She will be your best friend!
01-11-2005, 02:18 PM
LOL - The name of the Dr. that gave me my epidural was Dr. Love. And he was CUTE!!!!
I'm aware that the tampon companies say that. It's a CYA situation. The don't want to get sued. I've asked several OB-GYN's and what I said came from them. So I guess it's a personal choice and a matter of the individual's ability to remember it. ;)
01-11-2005, 03:03 PM
Thanks for all the advice ladies!
Star: We tried that last night and I am stil here ;)
01-11-2005, 03:30 PM
Hey, gals! Doing a quick fly-by today. I was in a meeting all morning, and now I've got tons of work to do. Hope you are all having a great day!
Jane: I have IBS/Crohn's, and the doctor never mentioned a low-fat diet for me. He just suggested avoiding foods that "triggered" the condition. For me, it's soda, tomatoes, citrus -- basically anything acidic. Of course, not that it keeps me from having those things -- they are all my favorites! DH has sternly warned me not to complain about it if I'm not going to listen to the doctor! :o
01-11-2005, 04:42 PM
Jane: Sounds like you've had the same experience my mom has with that. She wasn't supposed to feel a thing either..but did. Sorry you had to go through that. And you bet you better stick w/us!!! There's no if, ands or butts. And also, DD doesn't want to attempt tampons yet. We had that discussion yesterday. Maybe after today she'll have changed her mind. We have "low absorption" tampons that should be ok for her. I never used a tampon til I was married---my mom never talked to me about any of this stuff or bought tampons. Can you believe "back then" I never used to swim when I had TOM? lol
TG: Ok. We're back on sinc again. I messed up and you messed up. Let's kick this induction in gear and not mess up again. Ya with me on that one?
Leenie: *in her best Shaggy voice* Leenie where are you?? You're wroking too hard!!
Robin: You have a great outlook! Such a positive person--you're inspiring!!! We have 2 daughters  So pity my poor DH! lol. Oldest DD will be 13 in July so she's pretty much on track. Youngest is close behind at 10 years old.
Star: Ohhh....I miss those days. The make-up presents!! Now I'm lucky if I get an "I'm sorry." Then again...it's been ages since he's screwed up :lol3: I don't exercise on the weekends so guess I'm ok on that front--I'll have to get different exercise options to vary it. Does it have to be different exercises or can I get different Step exercises?
Lisa: My Lord woman haven't you had that baby yet?? I thought for sure you'd have had her by now. Have Dh drive you over railroad tracks. I did a lot of walking. Sounds like you're getting a lot of advise :)
Jina: Of course you wouldn't listen to the doctor. After all...do they listen to us  Hope things are going well for you and sorry to hear you're so busy.
Ya know, I don't know why I bother stepping on the scale. With the exercise I FEEL skinnier (now if only my body cooperated with the way I feel :lol3: ) so what does it matter what the scale says? And I no longer have such stress and aches in my neck and back. Now if only the clothes would get more loose I'd be a happy camper all the way around. Decided I want my inner thighs and belly to be flatter and then I'll be satisfied. Attainable goals, right?
01-11-2005, 04:54 PM
Hi Gang . I am just flying by.. but I wanted you all to know I a here and still OP! I found out today that I no longer have the whole job I had before (Which is FINE by ME!) I will only be working 12-24 hours a month now! WOO HOO!
I hav brownies in 2 hours so I have to fly.. but I wanted to check in!
01-11-2005, 04:56 PM
Oh my......this is what happens when one doesn't check in all afternoon!
Boy you guys have been busy chatting!
Brenda: I can tell you.....I will definitely make sure that the next time I am COMPLETELY knocked out. I don't care what they say!
Hope DD is ok.
jdoggmartin: You have IBS with Chron's!!!! Oh I am so sorry...and here I am complaining. I am going to talk to the doc...he didn't mention the low fat diet, that info came from the papers that the hospital gave me yesterday. My gastro knows that I am doing Atkins and he didn't think it was a big deal...but that was before he believed me when I told him it was just IBS
Lisa: OK forgive me but I am trying to picture a 9 month pregnant lady having sex :lol3:
The logistics must be something!
Star: I had a dog that had to wear the lamp shade once. She was so cute. I unfortunately had to have one of her eyes removed....long story....and when she came home she had the lamp shade on her head. I took her for a walk and she wasn't used to it yet so when she tried to get up on the sidewalk the hood got stuck and it came up and smacked her on the chin. I couldn't stop laughing.....she just kept on walking. Dogs are too funny.
TG: Oh we love contraversy! Spices things up around here.
FINALLY GOT MY ASTHMA DOC TO GIVE ME AN ANTIBIOTIC!!!! YEAH!!!!!!!!! Now maybe I will start feeling better......aaaaaaahhhhhhhhh
01-11-2005, 04:58 PM
Hi Karen! Glad you are happy about work. I wish I could work those kinds of hours.
01-11-2005, 05:37 PM
Lisa - You'll have to try harder. No pun intended *snort*. Bow-chicka-bow-bow!!!!
Brenda - Yes, do something different. You have to teach your body to move different ways. That's why fantastic athletes can still struggle when learning something new - like pilates. Our bodies should be well rounded internally, not externally ;)
Jane - I must remember not to drink water while reading your posts. I almost shot it right out my nose! :lol3:
01-11-2005, 05:40 PM
Jane you crack me up!!! ahahahahaha
Cherry is wearing the E-Collar after her surgery she had on her eyes on Friday, I will have to pst a picture!! ahahahaha
Our little Toy Poodle Jean Michel had his teeth cleaned yesterday and had to have 5 teeth extracted that were rotten, poor guy feels like poop today!!!
SP I missed something what happened to Paco?
01-11-2005, 05:40 PM
Well I mean come on!! Someone had to say it!
01-11-2005, 05:42 PM
Oh my mom's pup (she is a Carin)...she has no front teeth. They had to pull them. I call her a little hillbilly.
01-11-2005, 05:46 PM
I was expecting it from Star not you!!! ahahahahahaha :) Just kidding
01-11-2005, 05:48 PM
All his front teeth in between the K9's are pretty much gone, he is the toothless wonder.
B- Yes for sure you and me induction together starting today!!! 2 weeks straight! Let's go!
01-11-2005, 05:55 PM
I love to make my mom's dog growl...I squeeze her tummy and she growls....no teeth! Cracks me up!
01-11-2005, 06:10 PM
My mom's dog does that too, she is a chihuahua she thinks she is sooo tough! My poodle only growls when you try to move him from a good spot on the bed! ahahahaha:)
01-11-2005, 06:27 PM
LOL - My dogs 'grumble' when you move them and they don't approve.
TG - The Paco saga is posted on yesterday's thread. It was very traumatic for me. ;)
01-11-2005, 11:35 PM
SP Glad the little guy is OK, that is alot of stitches for a little guy!!
