Morning Ruth, just made my pot of tea :coffee: Nothing like a little caffeine to get you jump started in the morning. We are a chatty bunch. I wonder what we would sound like if we were all in one room together.

I don't have much planned for today other than to get my music ready and work on dance routines, need to get the little dancers working on their rountines for the dance show in may.

Well off to listen to some music be back soon.

Morning all;
No much to do today. Therpist appt. this afternoon. Treadmill after that.
Joined ladies choice last night. I had been on a free week trial. Went well. I really enjoy working on the machines. It's funny, went with the lady across the street. She looks like she could lose about 30-40 pounds. Way smaller than me. Around the same age. Here I am needing to lose over 100 and I am in BETTER shape that she is. She pooped out on the treadmill after 15 mins. couldn't lift the weights. We do 12 reps x's 2. She just made it through the first set of 12. Made me feel good, but, showed not all big people are out of shape. DH said I always knew you were in good shape, just need to lose some weight. He says he can out do the young guys at work, lifting boxes, running routes. He is a courier. And he's 50. I always feel so good after a workout. Ate dinner real late last night and scale was up 1/2 pound. Thank goodness that is only on Mondays when I eat real late.
Well, off to find something to do. I am sure is something to clean around this house.
Check back later.

01-11-2005, 09:13 AM
running out the door... Bamie, get to the doctor, and get better soon, sweetie! :grouphug:

Love and hugs for all of you... hope to get back later...

Hi Chickies!

Well I am stuck at home again today. I finally got my medicine for my eye after waiting since Saturday. I can't believe it took Walgreens that long to find some. I am hoping I can return to work tomorrow. I just cannot rationalize trying to work if there is a possibility of passing this on to one of the kids. It would be bad enough if I only taught "regular" classrooms, but I teach 5 special needs classes as well and those kids have enough to deal with. They certainly don't need a viral eye infection on top of it!

I guess I will try to read another book today and maybe get the laundry done. I got on the scale this morning and was happy to see a few more pounds gone. :cheer:

I hope everyone has a wonderful day on the beach! :)

01-11-2005, 09:49 AM
Good Morning Everyone. This is my first 'daily' post.

I am off to take DS to school in this ice! I can't believe they're having school today! UGH! Then off to the grocery store right after. Baby has decided he does NOT want baby food and will only eat certain things right now. He's only 11mos! He's so picky already. I am a bit sore from the workout yesterday..but, i'll survive. It wasn't really 'that' much, I just haven't done much of anything in months.

Happy Birthday Barb! I hope you have a great day!

Hope you get something to make you feel better Bama.

Have a FANTASTIC day ladies!

01-11-2005, 10:02 AM
Wow, I've been trying to catch up on all yesterday's posts, this place was really hopping! Nothing much happening here today. I'm going to experiment with a pizza recipe later. I'm going to make the crust with lean ground turkey breast and spices, then fill it with tomatoes mixed with ricotta, mozzarella, and lots of diced up veggies. Sort of like a deep dish pizza. Sounds good in theory, we'll see if it works. Have a good OP day, everyone!

01-11-2005, 10:15 AM
Holy cow, I come in at 9am and there are a ton of posts!!

GUESS WHAT!!!! I weighed in today. It's my first week on SBD and Phase one. I was down.... DRUMROLLL..... 6.7 pounds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks girls for the support.

It was hard, but really worth it. I also went to the gym 5 times for an hour of cardio each time.

RUTH... morning. I've never been a coffee person, but this week I was. It was something I could have that could give me a rich flavor. So go get that coffee. And by the way, thanks so much for being so helpful this week. You really helped me a great deal.

Little Chick... are you a dance teacher? How fun!

Mamacita... good morning to you! And thanks for the support this week.

Bamie... I hope you feel better. I think I already told you, but I'm from the Mississippi Gulf Coast... where in AL are you?

Chipper... I know what you mean. Even when I was 220, I was in much better shpae than my 135 pound roommate. She had never gone to a gym in her life.

Ellis - Good Morning

Nally - I hope your eye gets better soon!

Amber - good morning... and excellent on the work out... anything is a great start.

Cottage... MMMmm. That sounds good. How to you make a crust out of ground meat?? I'm intrigued... definately share how it turns out!

Okay girls.... have a great day. be back later.

01-11-2005, 10:46 AM
Thanks for such great birthday greetings! I am off work today but I don't have anything special planned really. I treated myself for breakfast by having a vegetable filled egg (garden style Eggbeaters) on two slices of whole wheat toast. For dinner I am making Pacific Seafood chowder. It uses three small red potatoes which I normally wouldn't have but seems like a good birthday treat. Then I am fixing strawberry pie (sugarfree, crustless with just a little cornstarch). I'm sure these little treats will add up but much less than if I went out to eat or fixed my usual chocolate cake with chocolate frosting.

Oh, I'm heading up to the gym in a bit to try out a couple of exercise classes. While I've gone to the gym for years, I've never tried the classes. I might as well take advantage of having the time today. I'm sure once I go I will feel more comfortable going again.

Tilley - That is a great loss! Congratulations!
cottage - The recipe sounds good. Let us know how it turns out.
amb_lyn - Drive careful! The workout soreness will go away quickly.
Nally - Hope you eye feels better soon. It does sound like a valid concern about not spreading it to the kids - especially the special needs ones. I am certain the parents appreciate that.
chipper - Congratulations on the exercise! I hope you continue to enjoy it.
Bamie - Hope you feel better.

01-11-2005, 11:16 AM
Lisa... I am in Huntsville which is North Alabama.

I am off to the doctor!

01-11-2005, 11:46 AM
Not much going on here, trying to get the energy to move my rear end a bit today. I've already cleaned the kitchen and done 3 loads of laundry.....neverending................ :( Very gray day, expected to get a couple of inches of snow. Decided not to take any classes at the university this semester, I didn't need the stress right now and I want to get back to focusing on me not grades.

Lots of new faces around, cool!

Ruth, hope the caffiene jolted you. You have more energy than I do when you haven't had your coffee. ;)

Little chick, does the dancing help burn calories? Do you work up a sweat? Sounds like a lot of fun. You should try to post a clip of your little dancers?

Mama, you say there is nothing exciting to report, but I highly doubt that, your life is always exciting!!! Needles, blood, bosses..........sounds like a real CSI story to me. :D

Bamigurl, hope you get feeling better, we're sure seeing a lot of the gooey gombo around these parts too.

chipper, way to be in shape. There's muscle in there and cardiovascular health, I know people that have ideal weight (where the scales are concerned) and are so unfit that they can't do a flight of stairs.

Ellis, "out the door" ?????????? hope you have a good dayyyyyyyyyyyyy.

Nalaminu, yep, eye infections are extrememly contagious. One of my co workers in the ER had pink eye and he got to stay home for 3 days while it cleared up.

amblyn, 11 months old? Do you have any teenagers yet? (evil laughing)
Take some motrin for the sore muscles and head back to the gym today! Tomorrow will be better....

Cottagebythesea, post the pizza recipe and let us know how it goes. I might try that when I see phase 2-land again.

Tilley, congrats on the first week loss! :bravo: It's so motivating to win at this losing game!

Barb, happybirthdaytoyou, happybirthdaytoyou, happybirthdaydearBARRRRRBBBBBBBBB (singing slightly off key) HAPPY birthday to youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu. Enjoy yourself today! :gift:

01-11-2005, 12:13 PM
Morning all.

I am having a crappy day all around -- I couldn't eat breakfast as I had no fat free milk for the only thing in my cupboard -- cereal. Came rushing into work and forgot my lunch. I only have $9 in my account until next Friday and not much food in the fridge. Wanted to spend the $9 on lettuce and other such good stuff but now I don't know.

Do I forgo eating until dinenr tonight? Or spend at least $5 of something SB friendly?

Life is just kicking my @ss lately. Will try catching up with you all later. I have a budget to work on and coffee (free) to drink!

01-11-2005, 12:23 PM

You HAVE to eat something... go get yourself a lunch. Borrow $20 from a roommate, boyfriend, parent or sibling to get you through until next week... but you HAVE to eat something!!

BARB!!!! Happy Birthday and thanks for your kind words yesterday. I do hope it gets easier... but losing 6.6 pounds was quite motivating and may make it all seem worth it!

01-11-2005, 12:33 PM
Good Morning Everyone!
It's been a lonnnggggg time since I was here, but it's nice to see a lot of people I remember from last year.
I am sadly starting the SBD (again) at the same time I started last year...and unfortunately, at the same weight...wahhhhh! :(
After losing over 20 lbs last year (and keeping it off until this past fall, I might add!), I have slid back up to my original starting weight. I was doing fine until I found out last August that I had cervical cancer (found very early, thank goodness)...I had surgery at the end of August and am doing well and feeling fine now, but, naturally, at a time like that, one turns to the comfort foods! How could I resist Mom's chicken pot pie and mac & cheese??? And we all KNOW how peanut M&M's cure everything!
I will find out in February if I am free & clear of the cancer (going 2/14 for my check-up)...I feel really good and am confident that I am going to be fine and now am ready to get back on track with my diet! And I KNOW fro experience that this is the place to be for support!
I just started week 2 (lost 4 lbs week 1! yay!) and holding strong.
I am dieting with my NEW (yes NEW) DBF....I actually met him while going thru all my ickiness this summer and we are having the most wonderful time! He adores my children (and they adore him, too!) and he is just the sweetest, kindest, most nurturing man on the face of the planet! He has lost 130 lbs in the last year (after finding he was diabetic he went low-carb immediately & is doing well) he's very supportive of the SBD and is doing phase one with me! He's lost 5 lbs this week, which is nice for him as he has been steadily losing just one pound a week for almost a he's enjoying the jump start! He's now at 310 (6' tall)...with a goal of 250.
I am sadly back at 160 (5'5") with a goal (again) of 138.
It's nice to see you all & I look forward to the funny chats & support!

a broad abroad

Hello chickies,

Just checking in. Wow! This thread and all of the current SB threads are moving at the speed of lightening. I can hardly keep up - LOL.

Have an OP day, all.

01-11-2005, 01:31 PM
Jan, It's so good to see you back! We saved your spot don't worry! I'm glad everything seems to have worked out with your health. Prayers for the 14th checkup next month. We're here for ya! Congrats on your new man girlfriend! lol

Me... I went to the doc and I have Broncitis (sp?) and a sinus infection. So I got a shot in both sides and a 5 day pack of antibiotics so I should be feeling like myself again soon! Yesterday was my first official day back OP because I have been so sick and not really eating but it is gonna be hard until I feel better because I still don't feel like eating much. I'm off to my new friend the couch! teehee

01-11-2005, 01:33 PM
Rnmom, what part of id are you from? My dh is from bonners ferry/moyie springs way up north. Beautiful country up there.

01-11-2005, 02:22 PM
Hey Gals, stoppin to see what's going on... done pretty good and drinking tons of water. not feeling so good this morning but I don't thinks it's new diet related. :?: Anyway, feeling better and it passed... gluck today!

01-11-2005, 03:19 PM
Hi everyone, I just finished watching my soaps, and I'm about to go workout. I was disappointed in myself last week because I only ended up exercising about 3 days when my goal was to do 5 days. But I guess 3 days was better than the usual...which was zero!

I was feeling a tad down and discouraged last night. I just have this body image problem. Even though I've lost lbs and inches sometimes my head just likes to still look at how far I have to go instead of what I've already accomplished. It's more of a patience issue than anything I guess. I went to the support board and wrote down some of the things members said to some other discouraged dieters. I try to read them when I feel down. It seems to help. But I've done really good this week so far. So I'm just going to think about today, and what I have to do to make today a successful day. I hope the rest of you have successful days too.

01-11-2005, 03:37 PM
Checkin' in late today!

I had to wait for the appraiser to come do his thing this morning so we can continue with the refinance of the house. He tried to cancel on me due to the rain but, I pleaded my case (hello...doesn't he know that I had to run around and clean every bit of my house last night?) and he came out anyway. There's no rain today anyway! :rain: It's nice to see the sun shining after all that nasty rain. :sunny: The big mudslide in La Conchita that's all over the news is about 15 minutes away from me. It's sad to think there are still people buried under the mud. You think they would've learned their lesson 10 years ago when the first mudslide took out the town. It's definitely not a place I'd want to live.

I'm hoping that everything will work out well for me tonight. I have to go to a mixer of wedding professionals in the area that's being catered. I'm going to try my darndest to be OP! :hungry:

I got a call from my mom this morning about her cat. She's been on the blood pressure medication for about a week now and finally, it looks as though her vision is restoring. Her pupils are smaller and she seemed to follow Mom as she walked across the room. So that's good news. Then I got more feline medical news when my sister called. She thought her cat was constipated. It yowled all night last night and his stomach was hard. She took it to the vet where she found out that he has some kind of blockage and has to stay at the vet for 3 days with a catheter. So if it's not a problem with one feline around here, it's another. :(

Barb-I just wanted to wish you a very happy birthday!!!! :hb: You've done so well that those potatoes will be a nice treat! I sometimes find that if I add in something that is not OP, it will kickstart even more weight loss.

To the ailing chicks-I hope you get better soon!

To the chicks who lost weight-YOU ROCK! Tilley, I knew you could do it! Just keep on it! It will be worth it come April! :bravo:

To the freezing chickies-Try to stay warm and off those nasty, icy roads! :flame:

To the warmer chicks-Enjoy the nice weather! :flow1:

Everyone else-Have a great day! Try to stay OP! :goodluck:

01-11-2005, 03:42 PM
I forgot to mention to all of you to watch the show Dude Room tomorrow on the Discovery Channel. The show features my sister and her husband who is a huge Nebraska Cornhuskers fan. It's on at 3:00 pm on the West Coast so check your listings wherever you are. I plan on taping it since I won't be home. If they didn't edit it out, I make a brief appearance when I bring my nephew in for the big reveal of the room. With the way TV works, I'm not sure if they'll put me in or not. I'll remind you again tomorrow but by the time I post, it's much later to a lot of you chickies!

01-11-2005, 04:18 PM
Just got back from a little exercise outside.....risking life and limb to do so. It's safer to walk and run in the road than on the sidewalk. Lazy people here don't shovel too well. gggrrrrrrr...

Had taco bake for lunch, it feels so sinful to eat that! Tonight will be a salad and some kind of protein....I'm getting sick of chicken.

Jenne, sorry you are having such a rough time right now, hopefully you can find something SB friendly. Having gotten serious about the eating again, I forget at how much time I spend in the store buying fresh stuff.

cheesequeen, I understand about the body image thing. I see pictures of this last fall when all the family was home and I still can't believe that's me. 53 pounds is huge, but I still had a camera phobia. I didn't see myself become heavy, I didn't see myself becoming leaner. It still surprises me when someone says something (even after the 15 holiday pounds)

chipper, I'm from southeast Idaho, about an hour away from Jackson Hole and 2 hours from West Yellowstone. Beautiful country on this end of the state as well.

January, I've missed you. Welcome. Sorry for the stress you've had this past several months. Makes me feel bad for the whining I've done. My fingers are crossed for your appt. next month.

Bamigurl, I wish I could have been there for the shots.......... take that zpak and get some rest. You'll feel so much better by tomorrow you won't believe it!

Well, off to act busy..................have a great day!

01-11-2005, 04:19 PM
Awesome Kiss! Too bad I don't have the Discovery Channel! I love to watch that channel.

Hunny~Glad you're over whatever it was you had. Nice & quick.

Jenn~Yes, you have to eat. You'll be sick if you don't!!

Jan~ Wishing you luck & prayers on 2/14!! So glad you are back!

01-11-2005, 05:07 PM
Cheesequeen... I promise, you are going to get to goal before you know it. Think of you this summer all thin!!! When I started it was almost as if I would never get there. 86.6 pounds later..... it took a long time, but I'd do it again in a second. I still have 14.6 to go.... and I'm excited to get it off.

CJ - Hey girl. Refi huh? My FI is a mortgage broker. :) As for the mixer... I'm sending you SBD vibes... think diet coke, chicken satay, shrimp cocktail, beef skewers (if they have those)... they may have more SBD-friendly foods than you think!

01-11-2005, 05:31 PM
How long did it take you to lose 86 pounds?

anchor weight
01-11-2005, 08:22 PM
Hi all!

Wow this is a busy place. Sorry I haven't been in today. I've been real busy with a combo of work/fundraisers for the soup kitchen/working at the nursing home. Running non-stop. I've got students spread out all over town and I'm running from Hospital to another, one campus to another and one nursing home to another.

Tomorrow I weigh in and I'm hoping for a kind scale. I noticed this weekend that the portions I have been eating lately have been too big. When I worked this weekend I had to pack a lunchbox. I put in a small salad, hard boiled egg, 2 mini V-8's and laughing cow with celery. I began to realize that I've been suffering from "portion creep" and that is something that I need to watch carefully. I can eat a LOT! Even though everything was OP it was still too much. So Sat/Sun/Mon/Tues I've been real careful about portions and we'll see if that helps. If not a great improvement I'll have to cut out the shakes. When I read the label it wasn't very encouraging. I hate to make a big mess in the morning but I LOVE shakes in the morning. We'll see what happens tomorrow.

Oh and by the way - I kind of had a date on Sun evening. :flame: He's an old boyfriend and it gave me a chance to work on my dating skills since I'm 17 years rusty! Boy am I glad I met you guys and I've lost 30 pounds since September. He said I looked great. That made me feel good. Thanks all!

01-11-2005, 09:02 PM
Quick check in, again!
Tilley, Congrats on your big weight loss!
Jan, Sorry to hear about your stressful year, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you, too!
Bamie, I'm glad you finally got yourself to the DR. Now take care of yourself.
RNMoM, The pizza thing is a Phase 1, (I hope!). I'll post the recipe ASAP.
I gotta go now and catch the finale of BIGGEST LOSER, then, of course, The Amazing Race. I'll try to post after that if I'm still awake!

01-11-2005, 09:26 PM
Hey Everyone!
I'm pretty new to these daily chats, but I'm gonna try to keep up! Yesterday was my first day of phase 1, (I had to restart) I have done great, but then again, it's only been two days! I walked a mile yesterday, it wasn't much but was something and I'm just about to go to the gym. I have a free membership to my college's gym, I have been in college for three years now, and sadly have only used the gym maybe 10 times tops! I am definitely ging to start taking advantage of it! And the worst part iss up until now I even lived on campus and I still didn't use it!

Looks like you all are doing great! Hopefully I can report some big weight losses soon! Have a great evening everyone! I'm off to the gym!

01-11-2005, 09:54 PM
Congrats on the date anchor!! I bet the compliment made your whole month! That's some nice encouragement if nothing else! I hope you have a great time!

Stephie..I am right there with you. I started Phase One again yesterday as well. So far so good. Any amount of exercise is good in my opinion. I also did a mile yesterday as well as some sit-ups. Same for tonight, hoping to get in 50 sit-ups tonight after my walk. Welcome to the board!

01-11-2005, 11:17 PM
amb lyn

Thanks for the welcome! Sounds like we are both off to a good start let's keep it that way! :)

01-12-2005, 12:13 AM
Ok, I did NOT make my 50 sit-ups. I was dying after 20 as I had just gotten done walking on the treadmill.. I did end up pushing them to do 30. But now, I'm feeling sick. UGH! I was drinking while I was on the treadmill & I do have another fresh glass of water, but, ugh! I don't feel so well.

01-12-2005, 12:51 AM
Hey, at least you did 30. Like you said...any amount of exercise is good! I did 30 minutes running/walking on the treadmill, and did weights for another 30 minutes. I wanted to do some crunches when I got back but I was EXHAUSTED! I drank 1 liter of water today too so, i'm pretty satisfied with how I did today. Good luck tomorrow!! Hope your feeling better and keep up the good work!!! :)

01-12-2005, 12:56 AM
WTG Stephie! If I can keep this up daily.. I think things will be just fine..and allow myself a day or two a week I don't do my usual routine.. I work part time for a restaurant so I run run run the whole time I'm there.. That should count right? And I am a nurse so I run for 8-12hrs..that counts too right? LOL We dont' really have a gym per-se around here...but we have a community center that has weights, treadmills, etc..I guess I need to get a new key for the place..I have a treadmill at home that I have dusted off. HA HA I've had it for 3years now..Um, barely used a year...IN ALL ..That's so bad. Oh well, getting lots of use now.

01-12-2005, 01:53 AM
Oh wow, it sounds like you have two jobs that require quite a bit of movement! That's great! Me on the other hand, I am a full time college student, So I sit in a desk for hours everyday, and I have a part time job sitting at a desk on a computer. Not much activity there. I think it is good to allow a day or two a week where you can take a break from the work out routine. At least that's what I am gonig to do. I don't want to get so tired of exercising. Today I enjoyed it and want to keep it that way!
