Good morning. I'll just start us up and pop back later. The Girls are hollering and I know I forgot to load up the woodstove last night :( so I need to leap into action! I swear they hear me log on and then decide it's time to get up! It's a good thing I love them!

01-10-2005, 08:08 AM
Good morning, Chicklets~~ :coffee:

For whatever reason, Pester Ann decided she needed to sleep plastered up against me the whole night. So, I'm now feeling just a tad achy in the back from mimicing a mummy for 8 hours straight.

Had fun at Distaff Day. Sat with my buddies, Sandy and Sharon. We've made plans for a spring retreat up at Sharon's house in the mountains. It's on the Historic register and was used as a hospital during the Civil War. We've teased her about it being haunted and have tried to look for bloodstains on the hardwood floors. :D She raises Jacob sheep. Four horns and white with brown spots. Very odd looking sheep. :dizzy:

Tried to weigh this morning, but the battery in the scale died. Is that an omen???

Okay, gotta go get lunch together (leftover spinach and cauliflower, chicken, yogurt and some avocado on ww bread)

All you chickies have a great day on the Beach!

01-10-2005, 08:19 AM
Ruth... Get in out of the cold! lol Dogs and kids I think they are on the same wave length sometimes. Mommy Mommy Mommy! lol

Mamacita...Sounds like you had a good time. Y'all are a hoot lookin for blood stains! Well you should be able to sniff 'em out if anybody could! teehee

To you chicadees yet to peck in Hello!

Nothing much on the agenda today. Still have some things I need to get delivered. Other than that still takin it easy cause I'm still sickly feeling. Well I have to get lunch checks written and chittlin's off to school! Have a great day all!

Morning chicks a quick one for me too. I am waiting for my brother to call, I have to deliver news. I just got a phone call from my mom that my Aunt passed away this morning. Be right back the phone call.

01-10-2005, 08:56 AM
What a great day this is going to be. ( have to give me some kind of get up and go and I woke up this morning) Heehee.
GB's already here, little one down for morning nap, 4 yr old is playing with her polly pockets. Need to run some errands while DH is home to babysit. Going to gym tonight after allergy appt. Got to do breathing test again :(. Seems asthma not doing good with cold weather, and not getting any better. Just found out about the asthma and dust allergy in Aug. So, now I know whan attacks happen. Always thought it was the weight. Have had symptoms all my life and was told to lose weight. Even as a child, they said I was just out of shape. Funny how it can take some 45 years to find an illness. I sure feel better after getting on medication tho.
Time to get myself in gear and start the washer and dryer.
Everyone have a good day.

01-10-2005, 09:05 AM
morning all,
quick one as I have a lot to do today. I go pick up DH ashes. I am keeping them at home with me.
Ruth I know how you feel about your girls. I have Lucy cat (she is as mean as a pit bull) the grand kids are scared to death of her, they know she bites, and I wouldn't trade her for a million. She was so great with Ken.
Well I was going to say "girls" it has been a while since I was in touch, and guys? check back later,
love taz

01-10-2005, 09:17 AM
Back. The Girls are pottied and fed and are loafing on the couch in the back room where the woodstove is crackling away. They look darn cozy and comfy and I'd love to join them. However, I did Dick all (Jane all?) yesterday so can't goof off again today.

Mamacita, you knew I'd have to Google Jacob's sheep. Four horns and very pretty looking critters.

Little Chick, I am so sorry to hear of your Aunt's passing. This has certainly been a difficult year for your family.

Chipper, I had asthma for 56 years before they finally diagnosed it! So dumb! It's nice to know what it is and how to deal with it. Very cold air really bothers me too.

Bamie, I hope you feel better soon. This has been hanging on too long! You said "chittlin's off to school" - chittlins and greens? You cooking for the school these days. Just kidding!

Tazcat, it's nice to see you posting at such a sad time. Hang in there and hang out with us. At the moment we have just girls here although ImNotSanta does pop in from time to time.

Me: Applesauce to process this morning. It cooked all night in the crockpot - a great idea. Then I have a bunch of veggies to chop up and freeze to add to the next batch of dogfood. Hersh and I will go back to the vet today for another blood sample. I sure hope she can get enough this time! I am supposed to go to a Volunteer Appreciation pot luck in town tonight but think I'll beg off. It looks like snow is on the way and it's not worth a half hour drive at night for a frassing pot luck! I have to go to town tomorrow for the dentist and that'll be enough driving.

Right now I need to supervise Harry's bath so had better move my butt!

Have a moanless Monday, OK?

01-10-2005, 09:43 AM
LittleChick, I'm sorry to hear about your aunt, you are sure having a sad start to your new year. Let's hope things start looking brighter for you and your family.

Tazcat, How are you doing, it's good to see you checking in.

Mamacita, I wish I had a battery run scale so it would die on me, that way I'd quit weighing myself so often! That sounds like a lot of fun, planning your spring retreat.

Ruth, You're smart to stay in tonight. There would probably be a lot of foods you can't eat at the potluck anyway.

Bamie, Have you seen a doctor, it HAS been hanging on for some time, now.

Chipper, I don't get my GB's til 9:30 today! How old are yours? Mine are 3 1/2 and 17 months. They sure keep me busy, but we have a lot of fun.

I want to get some errands done before I get too busy, and I have to go to the bank, too, so I'll check in later.

01-10-2005, 09:55 AM
GB's are both girls ages 1 & 4. They do keep you busy. I found that my patience isn't what it use to be with my own 2. But, better that their mom & dad. My DH was Navy so he wasn't around much with my 2 growing up. He retired when they were 16 & 14. So, he is enjoying these 2 around. He gets so excited. He missed out on so much. Mine come at 6:45. Eat breakfast, little one goes down until 9:30, snack, then lunch at 12 then nap at 1/1:30. They sleep until mom gets here at 3:45. So, quite afternoons.

Bonjour ladies,

I opened up 3FC today and saw a new photo and book review on the home page, The Fat Fallacy - the French Diet secrets to permanent weight loss, then on the Today show they had the author of French Women Don't Get Fat and a quick discussion of her ideas, and I just got back from Paris yesterday. I wonder if someone is trying to tell me something? Drink red wine, eat good cheese? I've already got that covered - LOL!

On the way home I rode with two friends and the woman said seeing my weight loss has inspired her to recommit to the SBD. She already has the book but never really adopted the lifestyle changes. I'll be seeing her again in a month and we can compare notes, and losses. She said she has a good family recipe for cauliflower but it is not written down. I asked her "get around to it" and email it right on over, please.

While I was there I looked in a couple of supermarkets for Laughing Cow Light, but only found the regular. The light must be an American thing. I did see a light version of another cheese wheel, but all the wedges were plain, not with herbs, and I can get that here.

My ISP seems to be acting up today and I keep getting bumped of the site so I better run. Around this time of day now that North America is waking up being online always slows down a little. Maybe I'll be able to catch up on all these posts.

Au revoir for now.

Hi Everyone!

Sounds like everyone is pecking along today. This is just a quick one to say hi! Unfortunately I have a bunch to do today. Stay OP!

Hey chicks I am back again. Just kinda of board today. which is kinda funny because I have lots I could be doing. My girlfriend is going to stop by hopefully with tea. I have a wicked headache, but today is day 4 so I am thinking that it is the detox. ( why did I just not stay OP, then this would not have happened.) I never learn from my mistakes on the eating thing. I am pleased with myself because even with all the upset and going to my sisters yesterday I stayed OP, yeah for me. Today I am drinking even more water again another yeah for me.

a broad abroad- How nice that you have inspried someone back to a healty WOE. good for you. I am with you on the laughing cow we can only get the regular here and I believe that it is just plain. I am hoping they will bring in more types.

chipper- have fun with your gb, my mom has way more patience with my girls than she did with us. Amazing how she will let them get away with things we were not allowed to do.

cottagebythesea- Thank you for your thoughts and your are right we have had our fill in the last few months. All though is was probably a blessing she was very frail and in a wheel chair and has been for the last few years. She has Ostro and you could not even hug her for fear you would break her. Take care and have a good day.

Ruth- Thanks to you as well, we have not even told my sister yet she has enough to deal with right now. Her poor FIL won't even go to the funeral as he is so distraught, and her hubby is an only child so it is just the two of them doing it all. Have a great day. Don't drive tonight if you really don't have too, it is also much easier to stay OP when you don't have to go to a food function.

Taz- thinking about you and sending you {{hugs}} take care sweetie.

Bamiegurl- hope you are feeling better soon. Take care.

Mama- your retreat sounds like fun. Although I would not go if I thought it was haunted, that spokes me right out. I am a huge chicken sh*t.

To the rest of the chicks poping in have a great OP day.

Hey Anchor we were posting at the same time. Have a great day chick.

01-10-2005, 11:00 AM
Just a quick check in from me today. I hope everyone has a good day!

Holy smokes! 14 posts by 10 AM! We rock!

01-10-2005, 11:52 AM
Morning, gals! What a lot of activity!

Little Chick - I'm sorry to hear about your aunt. That is great that you are staying OP in spite of it. :grouphug:

I've got a busy day at work today so I can't reply to everyone. I'm down on my weight again this morning. If I stay down, I'll update my signature (but TOM should visit today so who knows). I loaded up on the veggies this weekend and that really seems to help. DH did manage to fix our home computer. Apparently we got infected by a virus. We did a full scan on Friday night right just before Norton came out with the new signature file and then got infected on Saturday. It messed up the trusted root certificates. Luckily Microsoft had a knowlegebase article on how to fix it.

01-10-2005, 01:52 PM
Hoo-whee--I'm down to 194 from the 197 I started the month with. The good news is I got a year-long pass to the Desert Botanical Gardens, which means I can start walking/jogging through there as often as I like! The bad news is I'm visiting my parents for a few days starting on Thursday, and Mom just might make some of her fabulous home-cooking. I was doing so well, too, especially after the Tragedy at the Winter Festival of Pie! Why must Filipino food be so unhealthy? Okay--I promise to go light on the white rice.

Hope you are all well!

01-10-2005, 01:59 PM
Hi... I'm tardy as usual... just a quick hello, as I've got oodles to do.

DH and I went and signed up at the J up the street so that I can start swimming my laps again! It's been raining awful and they're warning T-showers so no pool today... got a friend comming over to help with house work and I've got plenty to do with study for my state boards.

Been more OP than not, but still don't feel like I'm a "good girl".

01-10-2005, 02:08 PM
Just floating by this morning (literally)!

The rain hasn't stopped all weekend. I haven't seen this much rain in a long time. It's been coming down in a steady stream with no signs of tapering off. Tons of roads are closed around here due to flooding. This morning, my whole room lit up with the brightest bunch of lightning I've ever seen! Then came the thunder that scared my poor kitties. They snuggled up even closer to me than they already were. Poor little kitties! The rain kept me indoors most of the weekend. DH and I spent Saturday doing a major cleaning of the house. Yesterday we went down to the sports bar to watch the Vikings tromp the Packers (WOOOOOOOOOO!!!!)! DH and I are HUGE Viking fans! They only have to win 2 more to go to the Super Bowl!!!! :crossed:

I got a wonderful surprise this morning as the scale told me I was 6.4 pounds down from last week! WOOHOO!!! :dancer: Now I just have to keep it going! I have an event to attend tomorrow night for wedding professionals that will be catered so I hope there will be things there OP! I'm going to try my hardest! I am determined this month to reach my challenge goal which I'm already on my way to. I know the weight loss slows down the second week (especially because it's TOM today :p ).

Taz & Little Chick-I'm sorry for your losses.

Everyone else-I hope you have a great day! I'm off to get something accomplished for the day! ;)

01-10-2005, 02:09 PM
hey gals I shared this website with my WL buddy from another group and she is stoked! Day 2 for me and Im doing okay. Will post those ingredients but it will be pretty obvious if Im looking on the side of my lunch and typing it in. I think "they" will know Im not working... so I need to do it around lunchtime, k? Also, I did a perusal and everything on there is pretty obvious with a few "unknown" ingredients! So I will post when I can!

01-10-2005, 03:42 PM
Well Hello ladies!

Of course I write a long nice post for everyone and the board freezes up on me. Was anyone else having a hard time with the board.

now is the shorter version:

Ruth... you are so excellent getting back to everyone so I thought I'd give you a personal hello. Thanks for the support last week, it was great!

CJ - 6.4 pounds!!!! That's awesome!!! Was this your first week? Are you on Phase one?

Okay, for me... this was a HARD couple days. I need some encouragement big time.

This weekend was tough. Really tough. It was my first week of South beach. The first 3 days were fine. Not hungry… didn’t really feel deprived. But Saturday was like torture. Does the torture go away? I wanted bread, I wanted pasta, I wanted muffins and cookies.

Saturday night I dreamt I went out to dinner, and my dinner came with mashed potatoes and garlic bread. So I just ate the meat off my plate and I was fine. Then, all of a sudden all these desserts appear. An enormous cake and a plate piled high with cookies. Then the waiter brings out a bowl of whipped cream piled about 2 feet high. I woke up wanting sweets.

So I got on the recipe thread and found the peanut butter cookie recipe. It was great and really helped, although I ate 6 cookies in one day…

Does it get better? Does it get easier? Even now, I want to eat all the carbs I see. I never crave donuts and all of a sudden I can’t get donuts out of my head.

FI weighed in this morning. It's been one week... he lost 8 POUNDS!!!! I'm still on WW, so I'm going to my normal weigh in tomorrow. I'm hoping for at least 3 pounds since it's the first week on SBD.

01-10-2005, 03:46 PM
I've been missing in action, not only did I fall off the beach, but I fell off the planet! :(

Anyway, I've had a few days off and I've been able to do some strict phase 1 days, so now I feel "worthy" to post. :nono:

Anyway, we got a nice snowstorm over the weekend and have enjoyed a few nice days at home.

It's great to read everyone's post, you are inspiring to me!

01-10-2005, 04:43 PM
RNMOM-Glad you got yourself back on the beach! You can do it!

Tilley-Yes, I'm on P1 and it was my first week after the holidays. The first week is always a good size weight loss for me since most of it is water weight. Hopefully you'll have that kind of a result! Your dream is a scary one and one we've probably all had. Hopefully your cravings will go away. They will usually go away if you just stick with matter how bad you want that donut. Try to go for a walk or do some type of exercise to get your mind off food. Also make sure you're drinking plenty of water. Sometimes thirst can be mistaken for hunger. If you find yourself having another big craving, try to picture yourself in your wedding dress and how damn good you'll look if you just stick with it. With all the people coming from out of town plus having your fiance waiting for you at the end of the aisle, don't you want to look your best? You can do it! :) :) :) :)

01-10-2005, 04:54 PM
CJ!!! You rock... I think you've given me even more motivation... heading to the gym! Thanks babe!

01-10-2005, 05:01 PM
Tilley - It really does get easier. You get a larger collection of recipes that you like. You get to where this type of eating is familiar. If anyone had told me that I could crave vegetables, I would have said they were crazy but I do. You do need to give it some time though. You do not have very much to lose and so it may take longer to come off.

I finally have some time to pop in to say a quick hello. It has been a wild day at work, but most of that stems from the cold weather that we have and all the problems that go along with that. We also have the new students starting back to school today...

I have finally succumbed to the horrors of Christmas past... I did not too badly over Christmas and recovered well, but this past weekend was awful. Ate too many off program foods, etc. and was up 5 pounds this morning. I can't believe that you can gain 5 pounds in 2 days, then spend 6 months trying to lose it. :( Oh well, it was back to Phase 1 this morning, and I have one *$@*$#@% of a sugar withdrawal headache today. And, I know, it was all the sweets that I got into over Christmas. Soooo, this is the first day of Phase 1.

We had a busy weekend. We arranged to rent our condo in Calgary, had to do a final cleaning on it, move out our personal stuff, etc. Reminds me that I hate moving.

Hope everyone is staying OP and take care. Ta ta for now.

01-10-2005, 07:49 PM

Just popping in to say goodnight. I had another OP day and drank 2 liters of water. This is 4 days in a row for me.... YAHOO. I have to do some more cooking/baking for the reception on Wed I think I will make some deviled eggs, and take a cheese tray and maybe some veggies that way I know there will be something OP to eat. My family are huge eaters in times of sadness..... I remember being at the palor when my dear grandmother passed and my Aunt ordering KFC and us eating it in the upstairs family room. I often wonder why I could not come from a family that couldn't eat in times of sadness and sorrow. Good night dearest chicks.

01-10-2005, 09:22 PM
Just popping in late

1st day on the new job and no PC or email or cubicle or anything yet!

Official one week weigh-in this morn - 6 lbs down!! Bub bye Christmas weight!

Hopefully I will be able to logon in the am again real soon.

01-11-2005, 12:30 AM
Hi everyone! I am having a small problem! I am home all alone, bored (my boyfriend is working nights this week), and when I get bored I am so tempted to just eat! I want to snack on everything! What do you all do when you feel the urge to eat EVERYTHING IN THE HOUSE?!?!

01-11-2005, 03:24 AM
My honest advice? Leave! No kidding--if you can't get the temptations out of the house, then go for a walk or the library or take a class somewhere--willpower is strong, but if you can just avoid temptation, then I'd vote for that. If you're stuck at home, then find healthy snacks and drink a lot of water to try and fill you up. I wish I could offer more advice! Good luck--I'm sure you'll be fine. =)
