I finally got R to scan this for me. Great memories of a wonderful friend!
For those who didn't know Rich, some of us met him in the chat room many years ago. He has since passed away, but remains in our hearts!

Here is something interesting for everybody:
About 10 calories per pound of body weight is needed for basal metabolism (for me 400lbs x 10 calories = 4000 calories for basal metabolism). Above the basal metabolism, a sedentary requires 30% above the basal caloric need for activity (50% for average activity level, 70-80% for very active). I figured 20% for me (always hedging on the side of honesty, and if I do better, so be it).
So 4000 x 20%=800 calories for activity.
4000 + 800 = 4800 calories per day needed to MAINTAIN my weight.
Following? Good. Here we go!
A pound of fat contains 3500 calories. To lose l Ib a week I need to decrease my weekly caloric intake by 3500 calories or 500 a day
(3500/7days). So If I need 4800 calories per day to maintain,
I need:
4800 - 500 = 4300 to lose a lb a week (86 WW points) , or
4800 - 1000 = 3800 to lose 2 1bs a week (76 WW points), or
4800 - 1500 = 3300 to lose 3 lbs a week (66 WW points), or
4800 - 4500 = 300 to lose 9 lbs a week (ok, so I would faint doing this...this is just for jokes).
Remember...this is using 20% of my calories for activity. If I double my activity (this would entail actually getting up and changing the TV channel by hand.. .LOL) I would use the following numbers:
4000 x 40% = 1600 calories for activity(still below the avg. person)
4000 + 1600 = 5600 calories...HEY thats more calories...more calories = more food...I like where this is going...
5600 - 500 = 5100 to lose l Ib a week (102 WW points...Holy mackeral!)
5600 - 4200 = 1400 to lose 8.4 lbs a week(28 WW points...hey that’s what I'm supposed to do).
