Does it Work? - One a Day Weight SmartView Full Version : One a Day Weight Smart mrs_streams 01-02-2005, 01:47 PM I've been taking this, and it feels like it's working, anyone else? ANy bad or really good experiences with this? Talisman 01-02-2005, 06:40 PM It seems to give me an energy boost, but it's hard to tell whether it's helping with the actual weight loss or if that's just due to the lifestyle change. :) MrsJim 01-02-2005, 08:23 PM I don't think they'll HURT you, but I also think that they're not really going to help you all that much with your weight loss, at least no more than taking a regular multivitamin would. I myself have bought the One A Day Weight Smart vitamins - I usually buy the One A Day Women's Multi, but once Safeway had all the One A Days on sale so I figured I might as well try the Weight Smart ones, which are usually priced a tad higher than the One a Day Women's. I didn't feel anything different - didn't expect to though, even though there is caffiene powder in Weight Smart, per the One A Day website. So I don't think they'll HURT you to take them - of course you'll have to ask your doc to verify that statement. It's just a multi with some caffiene added. almostheaven 01-02-2005, 10:12 PM I switched to them from regular One-a-Day about 5 or 6 months ago, and I can't tell the least bit of difference. sugarholic 01-08-2005, 08:21 PM I recently asked my doc about them and she said they can't hurt cause green tea is the active ingredient and has been proven to speed up the metabolism. One thing I noticed though, if you're one of those people that can't take medicine on an empty stomach, make sure you eat before taking this pill. It makes me throw up if I'm not full first, but so did my prenatals so don't count that against the vitamin. tinagailh 01-09-2005, 12:02 PM Hi, I have never had a problem taking medicine on an empty stomach until I took One A Day Weight Smart. It happened 2 or 3 times. My husband thought I was pregnant. LOL. It did remind me of morning sickness. almostheaven 01-09-2005, 12:49 PM Well I'm soooo glad to read the latest here. I've been wondering why I get nauseous some mornings while I'm trying to fix breakfast. Note to self: Take vitamins AFTER eating. :D mrs_streams 01-09-2005, 01:19 PM Thanks Ladies. I to have the upset tummy after taking these. I've found that even if I take them after I eat, I still feel sick. I started to eat half of my breakfast take the vit and then finish eating. It helps alot and haven't felt sick since doing it this way. :) Jibbelle 01-09-2005, 01:32 PM I cant sleep when I take those things. I have no idea what is in it, but it makes me VERY awake! lawshark 01-10-2005, 04:25 PM I've been on the Jenny Craig plan since July of this year. I started taking the One-A-Day Weight Smarts about a month ago when my weight loss started slowing down. It didn't seem to make any difference but I needed to do a multi-vitamin anyway so I'll keep taking them until the bottle is all gone. They do make me very nauseous if I take them on an empty or half-empty stomach - but a lot of vitamins react that way with me. I always take it with lunch or dinner since those are my heavier meals. KandiceS 01-10-2005, 05:10 PM I had been taking the one a day womens since 1996 through last week. and then I switched to One a day carb smart- not the same thing as weight smart I know, but close. I didn't notice a difference at all. but again- Carb smart and Weight Smart aren't the same I know. jazzbo848 01-10-2005, 09:05 PM i was reading in the one a day thread where some people were made nauseous (sp) by the vitamin pills or threw them up. i read somewhere that the fillers in adult vitamins cause this reaction in some people. there are liquid vitamins for adults and you can use children's chewables (but i can't remember how many of those for adults)....... now if someone could just tell me of a pill that tracks down missing braincells........... cheryl LAnneCarrington 01-10-2005, 11:42 PM Funny thing is, the nutritionist that my weight loss surgeon referred me to for my initial consultation (insurance thing, you know) recommended these among the OTC multivitamins. I've never had any problem with them being I always took vitamins right before I'd eaten something or after I'd eaten; therefore, I never was nauseated. But I do feel better, even though I wish to attribute that to the lifestyle change ;) Vanessa_40 01-12-2005, 02:14 PM Hi.. I've been taking them for about a week..i like them..i always take my pill after breakfast just in case... Vanessa ~*FleurDeLyes*~ 01-13-2005, 12:57 PM I swtiched to them from one a day for women too. I was a little worried about a weight loss vitamin because I can't stand that weird buzzy feeling from caffine (I don't drink coffee or anything) so I looked for somthing that looked like it would contain the least. So far, no harm done! I don't think it's a miracle drug,(no such thing) but it can't hurt. Christalynn 01-13-2005, 01:08 PM I tried the Weight Smart for three days and got sick to my stomach and I was taking them with food. I don't know why I can't take them sugarholic 01-14-2005, 02:23 PM I took the advice of eating a little before the pill, then a little after and that seemed to work. I thought I was full before I took it, then I got to the point where I was fighting myself to keep from throwing up. I hurried up and ate something and then I was fine. Has anyone noticed you seem to use the bathroom a little more often or have the runs? That is a side effect of green tea so don't be alarmed if so. Your body tends to adjust. ~*FleurDeLyes*~ 01-14-2005, 02:43 PM Thanks for mentioning that sugarholic, I noticed that and thought I was getting the flu :P Go figure! Fleur Catgirl67 01-19-2005, 12:26 PM I wasn't very impressed with them. I think if you take a multi-vitiman and drink green tea, you will have the same effect. If you want to boost your metabolism, exercise, and eating regular meals will do it. Do not drink coffee or any beverage containing caffeine while taking these! It can be very dangerous! I did the first day, and I felt horrible. My heart raced, I talked so much that my co-workers were getting annoyed, and I thought my bowels were going to explode! sugarholic 01-19-2005, 07:36 PM I don't get any kind of energy from them at all, I actually wish that I did. I took one earlier and dozed off an hour later. Maybe my body has just adjusted to them now. I don't have the bathroom problem or the nausea with them anymore either. That's a good thing. jkbunch 02-06-2005, 01:55 AM I asked my pharmacist about the weight smart pills and she said since it had green tea or any herbal supplemant it could really affect your birth control pills and anti-depressent pills. Unfortunatley I am on both so I thought I better not take the chance. I can't be pregnant nor depressed right now...I need to lose this weight..hehe :coffee: . MsMochalicous 02-22-2005, 11:58 AM I just happen to come across this thread and good thing too because I was going to ask about it. I too have these pills and would throw up every time! It sucked lol..but now I take them at night, I have to or ill get sick. It doesnt keep me up, thank goodness! Angel's_Dust 02-24-2005, 03:17 PM I started on them a few days ago and I got sick in the mornings but I was fine when I ate something. I didn't even realize it was the pills until I read this post. Yesterday I got a major energy boost. In the morning I did the SIS: Ramp It Up, in the afternoon I did some extra weight lifting and in the evening I ran on my treadmill for 30 mins!!! I never had that kind of energy before. Pills don't upset my stomach so I was surprised these did. I also noticed I had to go to the bathroom a few times a day! Not to sound like a commercial but I also lost a lb. but that's probably from the the exercising. MrsJim 02-26-2005, 05:39 PM Well...as a rule you're not supposed to take vitamins on an empty stomach anyway - whether they are "Weight Smart" or generic multivitamins, you should *ALWAYS* take them with food. As far as the BCPs...I know that there are herbals like St. Johns Wort that could reduce the effectiveness of them, but I've never heard of green tea being detrimental to birth control... apriltx 02-28-2005, 03:11 PM Thanks for the info everyone, I will probably stick with my regular multi's. StarAngel2528 03-04-2005, 03:33 PM I couldn't feel a difference in taking One a day but my fiance says he can tell.. He said it feels like he gets more energy with them... just make sure you eat when you take them or you get really sick. Ruthxxx 03-04-2005, 04:40 PM I took them for a week and found I was feeling nauseous and had a slight case of the runs - the green tea, I guess. I stopped taking them and have no problems with my regular multi-vitamin which I ALWAYS take with food. I guess they work for some of us and not for others. Pseudobrilliance 04-01-2005, 03:26 AM What happens if you take vitamins without food in your stomach? I mean, I usually take them when I'm brushing my teeth and then I go downstairs and have breakfast, so its close, but I have a hard time remembering them if they are in the kitchen. almostheaven 04-01-2005, 10:06 AM Taking them without food is generally why you might get sick. I switched to a whole food vitamen from Advanced Nutrition. They'll run a little more than the off the shelf stuff you can buy in any store, but I can take them whenever and have never gotten sick. They also have a lot more to them than a regular multivitamin...more nutrients. Beautiful_Inside 04-01-2005, 09:49 PM I personally got sick also.. I took them for a few days and noticed each time that Id get sick with them.. I tried eatting before.. And also tried afterwards.. My Husband looked at the label and pointed out what it was.. Its the extra vitamin that they advertise that's in it because my regular vitamin, doesnt make me sick and it doesnt have that extra.. But most people think this is a diet pill and its not.. Its just supposed to help you with your metabolism and to control your weight.. FrugalChick 04-02-2005, 07:27 PM I take the regular Once A Day (generic form). I've noticed a difference in my nails..but not much else. Mudlucious 04-02-2005, 10:53 PM I have no problems with the weight smart vitamins; but I have noticed since I started taking them I get nauseated if I eat enough to become full. This is a side effect I am willing to deal with since it helps me eat smaller portions than I used to. sweetmaria 04-03-2005, 06:20 PM I've taken One A Day Weight Smart religiously for the past month and I've noticed that it makes me nauseated on an empty stomach......but I think that's true of all vitamins. And like FrugalChick, my nails have gotten very strong and long. Also, I'm getting the the opposite effect of some of you when it comes to BM's. Mine are nowhere near as frequent. Maybe 3x a week. HappyBunny 04-04-2005, 10:27 AM Thank you so much for this thread. I have been feeling ill in the mornings and even threw up once before work. I thought it might be the vitamins, and seeing your posts certainly makes me feel better. I think taking them with lunch or a late breakfast may be the answer for me. Thanks! slimcharm 04-05-2005, 10:48 AM I just have to say this about Weightsmart vitamins..if you go to their website they are NOT selling it as a weightloss pill. They are selling it as a pill to help give you nutrients to support your weightloss..In other words NO it wont help you lose weight, but it will ensure you are getting the vitamins you need as you lose weight. The greentea it contains is not even the amount the studies recommend..(not that the studies are accurate). Go see their website and you will see what I mean. Its not a magic pill its a vitamin. konstine 04-18-2005, 08:06 PM Hey, I've tried these bad boys and they definitely make my stomach feel a bit off. If I take it on an empty stomach, I feel like I'm going to get a refund on my last meal  But when I take them after a meal, they usually do ok. I don't think they make a metabolic difference, or at leastl ike..not enough of one to rely on. But they are good vitamins. ms_dreamy 11-29-2005, 11:11 AM i have been taking one a day weight smart and they dont make me feel sick but i eat breakfast every morning before taking them and they seem to be helping a little bit with me not feeling so hungry before lunch. i have lost 2 lbs. in 2 weeks but i do exercise i walk 30mins about 2 miles 5 - 6 days a week. vBulletin® v3.6.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
