CRAP! I just wrote a big post, and the ruddy thing disappeared!

Anyhow, I was awake at 3:30, tossed and turned for an hour, and finally said, "screw it", and got up.

And I had this great idea (thanks to Bunna's woes) of adding Phase III sections to the recipe threads. So that when we're stressed, or going through some other heinous time (Thanksgiving, Christmas, birthdays, funerals, menopause, etc), all we have to do is temporarily go on Phase III before hurtling back into Phase I! I think I must be a freakin' genius. :lol3: Why didn't we think of this before!?

I'm going to PM poor, overworked Suzanne right now. :D
Right after I get myself a coffee... :coffee:

Good morning, Chickies~~ :coffee:

Basically another post and run called to volunteer at the free clinic last night and they were slammed with labs...when we finally finished around 9:45, I walked into the flippin' storm of the century!! My speed topped out at 25 mph on the drive home. when I turned into our subdivision, I drove on pure instinct b/c I couldn't even see the road.

Ellis, I love the idea of having phase III recipes for emergencies. You are a GENIUS!!!

Ok, off to dry the mop on my head, and eat some breakfast before I haul buns to the gym.

Morning ladies

Another MIA day yesterday - I have been sitting at this job for something like 7 weeks now doing almost nothing! (but hey I am being paid) and then whammo - piles of work drop on my desk - and you got it - all due tomorrow!!

Not a lot else planned for me. I am trying to figure out how to get Santa to bring me a treadmill for Christmas - anyone have any ideas?

So happy Friday to all and have a good OP weekend. :coffee:

Good morning Y'all! Nothing much happenin here today. Not until this afternoon atleast and then it's run run run!

Ellis... I always knew you had it in ya! teehee P-3 Has such a nice ring to it! Someday I'll move there to stay!

Mama.... Oh the rain has been aweful! I think it has passed for now! OH NO! Nix that I just looked at Weatherbug and more rain is headed this way this afternoon!

I'm tired of the rain...Especially since I have to drive to Cullman this afternoon to take DD to meet her Aunt. Maybe it will go somewhere else! haha Yea like that will happen! Well I'm off for now! Have a good day all!

Good Morning everyone,

This cold weather has zapped all my motivation. I don't want to do anything except try to stay warm. I shouldn't complain though, we're still above freezing, around 40F during the day.

DH just called and asked what I was doing and I said 'roasting nuts' - which I really am - and he said well I'm glad I'm at work - haha (budadadummmm; cymbols clash)

A Phase III section sounds good because I guess I can say I've been doing that lately, but I'm ready to refocus.

chat with ya later.

Good morning from the drizzling Ontario cultural wilderness.

Rob did a super job putting up my garlands, ribbons and lights yesterday and they sure looked pretty this morning. They are on a dusk to dawn timer and are still on right now! It must be a really dark day.

I braved Wal-Mart Toy department yesterday and got the last toy I needed. Of course, when I got home there was a message from Sears saying my Pop Up Pirate was in! It goes back! Considering I'd forgotten my list (duh!), it was a very satisfying shop. I even bought myself a Santa gift - a skill saw! I'll need to get lessons from Ellis on how to use it - very carefully, I assume. It's electric, not steam. I'm a Luddite usually but my rotator cuff can't stand hand sawing for too long.

Today I plan a long bath and hair washing/conditioning session and a short trip to the Library unless we get freezing rain. Ah, December in Canada! Such bliss! NOT!

Join me in a coffee and sing me Christmas carols while I loaf in the tub!

Good morning, Everyone! I am SO glad it is Friday! It's been a long few weeks with end of the year stuff going on here at work. I work for 2 busy attorneys who feel the need to "touch every file" before year end to make sure they get their billable hours in. ugh. that is all i have to say about that. ugh. LOL

On a bright note, I lost another pound and am in the 20's! I'm really excited about that! 229 and faaaaaalling! I just wish it would fall in huge clumps as I walk down the hall or something... lol... I know, I know, patience is a virtue, right? That's okay... a pound is a pound is a pound... I'll take it!

I hope you are all having great days! My best friend is coming from out of town tomorrow for the weekend and my hubby is out of town, so it should be fun!

12-10-2004, 10:11 AM
Bamie, send the rain up here, and we'll send you the snow that should be arriving here any time now.

:yikes: Mamacita, PLEASE drive carefully, hon! :grouphug:

Ruth, you are going to LOVE that skill saw!! You'll never saw by hand again. Just don't do what my friend Jim did. He went through the tip of his thumb, severed a tendon, and was in a cast for eight weeks.

I'm clearing out the front hall. My daughter has 14 pairs of shoes/boots on the floor. And those are the ones not in her room or the back hall! At her age, I had one pair of runners, and a pair of boots.

12-10-2004, 10:13 AM
Aileen, have fun with your friend this weekend!!

Good morning all from sunny Bermuda 75 degrees and loving it, sorry to rub it in I will be back in Boston for christmas in a week and a half and freezing my butt off. Very slow progress this week I have been OP, but may be eating a little too much cheese because the scale is not moving. I have had high blood pressure for several months and have tried unsuccessfully to lower it on my own through diet and exercise and it just isn't happening so I have finally bitten the bullet and will seeing my doctor today. I think she will start me on a diruetic today and we'll see if that works first. I really thought I would control it myself and I'm kind of frustrated to not be able to... :( Oh well, maybe once I keep going it will go down and I can get off the medication. I am a social worker in a hospital here and have recently sent a couple of young people off the island for angiograms and it scares me so I guess I'll try to "get fixed". If anyone has any experience with this please share. Anyway not a lot of shopping done yet but will start this weekend. I am making homemade sausage rolls this evening with a friend... Yum but oh the temptation... I will stay away, I guess it's better than cookies. Have a great day and be the best that you can be today..... ;)

Colleen - I have far too much experience with fighting high blood pressure. Mine had crept up through the years as my weight crept up and my doctor eventually put me on an ACE inhibitor. When that wasn't enough, the dosage was doubled and then a beta blocker was added. Eventually a diuretic was added. The most recent research I have read does suggest using a diuretic as the first try but my doc is reluctant to use diuretics because the heat can get so intense here in the Dallas area during the summer. Make sure you talk to your doctor about ways to prevent problems with that since you are also in a very warm area.

On a more positive note, as I have lost weight on SBD, I am off the diuretic and then off the beta blocker. My pressure is normal and I have hopes of reducing the dosage of ACE inhibitor and eventually getting off of it when I got back in January.

Me - I will be so glad when today is over. Half of my team is on vacation today including my team leader and manager. That means I get to be the team leader as well as do much of the work. I'm crossing my fingers it will be quiet. I only have to work on Sunday morning for a little bit so hopefully it won't be a bad weekend.

morning chicks.... for the next 5 minutes anyway. I did my baking yesterday not all of it but a chunk I only had one mmmm maybe two small brownies. I manged to finsh my photo show for my wee ones I just have to figure out how to set it to music and fix the timing a bit I am hoping it will be ready to burn by sunday. The weather here is dismal and gray they are calling for another storm of snow then freezing rain and then rain tomorrow. We did not get to much last week so we will see what happends. I hope it does not come til after 10 which is when I get off work and I hope that it is bad enough to cancel dance class tomorrow but clear up in time for the dance show which is at 2 and 7. That is not too much to ask for is it. Well I have to go I have a sink full of dishes and a couch for of laundry to fold. My work is never done. Have a great day chicks.

12-10-2004, 12:10 PM
Hope everyone is having a great day! :D

I'm so glad it's Friday! I need some sleep! I've promised myself that I can sleep in until 10:00 tomorrow. :D

I got my send away packages wrapped last night and will take them to the post office at lunch today. Hope I don't get stuck in a super long line!

We're eating dinner in the fancy restaurant on campus. It's nice because we can eat in a lovely candlelt room with great food for free! One of the few perks of my job. ;) I'm looking forward to spending some quality time with my wonderful DH. After all that time together in Europe, I've missed him! Tomorrow and Sunday will be spent cleaning, decorating, finishing my wrapping, and most of all, doing homework. We have a party at the neighbors tomorrow night (I'm wearing a sexy low cut red sweater with one of my new bras from Vicki's...DH loved the sweater when I tried it on, and this is the first time I'm wearing it. :flame: ), and church on Sunday. I'll do shopping for our party on Sunday and do a bunch of cooking after work next week to get ready.

Ellis, love the Phase 3 idea!!! I have a couple of possible recipes that I'm making for our party...I'll add them in when I get a minute.

Have a great day, chickies!

Good Noonish!

Guess who wore his cowboy boots for color day at school today? Yup that's right - DS wore them for color day (non-uniform) day. He was very excited.

I had to take DS to the orthodontist this morning and it kind of went like this - :^: - then like this :faint: and then this - :yikes: and now I'm kind of like this :( Yup - one man looking into my DS's mouth can do all of that in 30 minutes or less.

I made it through my busy day yesterday and stayed pretty much OP - I had a piece of Prime Rib for dinner with salad and shrimp cocktail. I know that Prime Rib is too fatty for the diet but I really wanted it so I broke down. I have my company Christmas party tonight and it is a seafood buffet. I think it will be another fatty night. Then DM made sure to order wine with dinner that I don't like  what is up with that? I'll have to bring a brown paper bag with MY KIND OF WINE and make her proud  - just kidding. I'll have to kick up the workouts next week to burn off the extra calories.

Hope you guys have an OP weekend!

Hi Laurie!

12-10-2004, 12:37 PM
Good morning everyone...good FRIDAY morning. WOOHOO!!!

Spent last night still installing hardwood flooring and we are just about halfway finished the bedroom. We have another 250 square feet to finish, so that should be done tomorrow sometime. Can't wait to start to get the mess cleaned up, but I am stubbon and not wanting to start until the full mess has been created.

ellis - Your idea of Phase III during stressful times is great, but I am confused about any special recipes for Phase III. When I read the book on Phase III, it basically just says to eat what you want around the healthy parameters laid out in the other phases. If your weight goes up, then cut back to Phase 1 for a bit to keep it under control. For me, I found that eating at the Phase 2 level was a state at which I maintain weight, so that is basically the program that I am following right now, with some Phase 1 days thrown in here and there and a few OP treats on special occasions. Sooooo, I can't be of much help when it comes to the Phase III thing. :D

Mama - How are your roads today. I would rather have the snow that we have than the freezing rains. Our weather warmed a bit yesterday (up to minus10 or so) and the roads became quite slick. On the way home, we passed a 5 car pile-up - just driving too fast in rush hour. Take care driving today.

Kim - I have been the same with work. Sat for months with almost nothing to do, then, whammo, everything hit this week. It seems the bosses want to clear their desks before Christmas - I am not impressed with the idea that it goes from their desk to mine before Christmas, though. About the treadmill...try taking a picture of a treadmill and putting it in his lunch (if he takes one), pockets, post on the fridge, etc. and leave many hints about the treadmill. If you can find a picture that has something Christmas attached, then all the better...he might actually relate the time of year with the object (don't count on that, though  ). If that doesn't work, then wait 6 months until all the people who bought/received them for Christmas are finished with them ;) and start looking in thrift shops or second hand stores. Good deals to be had there.

Bamiegurl - My offer still stands. Send me your rain and I will send you mine. It's on the hard solid side, though.

A Broad - We are hoping to have the temps up to freezing by this afternoon. It was substantially warmer this morning than it has been all week, but it is still -10. 40F looks good to me right now, but it didn't look that great when we went down to that temp in the fall. Stay warm and have a great weekend.

Ruth - So nice that you were able to get the lights and garland up. I can't get DH to put lights up any more. A few years ago he was painting the trim on the house and fell off a ladder from the second story...I was looking out the window at the time and saw him whiz by the window. He fell on a concrete apron on his back. He was fortunate in that he only compressed a couple of vertabrae. The doctors at the hospital said that a fall that far usually has more disastrous results. A few of weeks after that, one of the fellows at work fell off a ladder putting up his Christmas lights and died. It just didn't seem to be that important to decortae the outside anymore. We put up a bit of garlad and some lights around the doors and around the deck, but that is all I will let him do anymore. On the lighter side, the kids still tease him about his 'Homemade Drop of Doom.'

TubaMom - Yes, be patient. You have already come down and each pound counts. Before you really realize, you will be down huge amounts and wonder how that happened so fast. Just keep working at it. Have a great weekend with your friend, but remember to eat healthy.

Bostonchick - I didn't hear the temp in Bermuda and no :nono: I am not jealous, not jealous, not jealous. I was having some minor blood pressure problems this past fall and seem to be able to control is I exercise and do some deep breathing exercises. I guess mine is more through anxiety than anything, so the weightloss doesn't seem to help. Do check with your doctor, though, heart problems in young people is increasing so doing something about it early is the best. Hope you have a great Christmas and enjoy Boston...especially the weather.

Barb - Things never slow down for you. Try to have a quiet weekend and not too much work. Don't get caught working all day Sunday, either. Take care.

Me - I'm pooped and glad it is Friday. However, today was official weigh-in and I have lost .2 pounds so far this month...without even trying. That actually worked out to about 3 or 4 pounds so far this month since my pigging out incident last week. I am hoping to lose another couple of pounds before Christmas. If I overindulge at Christmas, the recovery afterwards won't seem so formidable.

Tomorrow is bath day for the puppies and Christmas pictures for them. This year we got them pet Santa hats for their pics. I just need to dig their Christmas tree out of storage and get the dog bones tied on it.

I just had a meeting with a technician from one of our parking vendors. We just purchased a bunch of new parking machines from this company. They placed three machines as a trial for a year and we ended up buying them and a few more - based on increased revenues, decreased maintenance, etc. Well, since they installed the machines in the middle of November, we have had nothing but trouble. The guy is new to the company and came into town yesterday morning (they don't have a technician here), was supposed to fix the machine and be back home (3 hour drive) by noon. He spent from 8 am until 7:45 pm fixing machines in -20 weather. And he still can't get one of them working. He had to stay in town overnight...without a razor, change of clothes, nothing. They are flying another tech in from Vancouver this morning, bringing a third in from Calgary to get these things fixed.

I asked him this morning if he was still interested in the job. I guess that wasn't funny.

We don't have much planned for the weekend...pick up a hide-a-bed that I bought, pick up and deliver a fridge that DS bought, plus try to get some more of their junk out of my house and in to theirs, finish installing the hardwood flooring, bath puppies and get their Christmas pics taken, sing in the cantata at church on Sunday, go to an open house at one of DH's staff member's homes, dinner at DS's on Sunday....and if time permits clean up the mess from the construction. Guess the laundry will have to wait. :yikes: You will be thankful that you don't have to be around me next week. ;)

Hope everyone has a super weekend. AND stay OP. You will be better at Christmas for it. Take care.

Ellis... I'll take the snow gladly since we never get any down here!
Sweet Tooth... You can keep your rain! teehee I don't want no part of that!

Beachgal... I long for a romantic evening with DH! Both kids will be gone this weekend so I suggested a date night to a place I have been wanting to go and his reply was... well I'll just have to see what is goin on! Hello! There could be a lot goin on if ya play your cards right but so far you ain't even got the deck out! He said he planned on us goin out.... out in the yard and raking leaves! Yea he's a regular comedian! hahaha! Have a good w-end all! Don't work to hard everyone the weekend is supposed to be for relaxing!

Hi Ladies! I got mixed up with this thread and the jeans so here is the brief update
Drumroll Please!!!! I lose 6 pounds!!! i also decided to add fiber one in b/c i've been wacky for carbs. Wednesday Night Dh bought me a pair of earrings just because
So I'm more than halfway to my december goal!!!!!
I'll respond to everyone later b/c i need to whip up some lunch
but RUTH! I want a skill saw!

12-10-2004, 03:15 PM
Okay, here is my plan to get out of that funk.

I will post here everyday in December and get to know you all. I will at a minimum follow Plan III through the New Year then pick a date to do PI over for the entire two weeks and get myself up and going. I will return to the gym for at least three sessions a week throughout December beginning on Monday. I will start treating myself with respect and kindness. I will set some reasonable goals.

Love the cowboy boots. Of course, I didn't jot down notes so don't remember who said what now. I thought it was the orthodontists bill that made us go :yikes:

I work all weekend long days so am off to work. Everybody have a wonderful weekend and you that are getting snow enjoy it, we get a little snow once every few years. Rain rain rain rain rain and the rivers are risin'.

12-10-2004, 03:51 PM
Quickie... the new recipe sections aren't up yet, but we're working on it.
Peggy, I just want to add a few "out-of-the-ordinary" recipes to make Phase III look like it's decadent or something. :lol3: Yes, Phase III is just an extension of Phases I and II, but it's nice to see something concrete. If you know what I mean. ;)

It's snowing. I'm sure it's very pretty, but if I slip and fall because of the ice beneath the snow, you'll all hear the yells.

12-10-2004, 03:59 PM
Both kids will be gone this weekend so I suggested a date night to a place I have been wanting to go and his reply was... well I'll just have to see what is goin on! Hello! There could be a lot goin on if ya play your cards right but so far you ain't even got the deck out!

:lol3:   :lol3:

Bamie, you kill me!!! ;) Maybe we chicks should get dolled up and go out to places where the men appreciate our looks! ;)

Men can be so blind sometimes! I think you should drop a couple of hints about how the men at work (store, gas station, etc.) keep staring at you. Might give him the idea to take a real look at you!

12-10-2004, 04:01 PM
It's freezing rain here, Ellis. There have been several sirens going through the village - just like the BIG CITY! I imagine there will be many accidents tonight. I am definitely staying inside with heat, Scotch and two cuddly dogs for comfort.

12-10-2004, 04:04 PM
Bunna, great plan! I think you're going to do fantastic, and I love the part about respecting and loving yourself. That's the most important part! :grouphug:

KO, :bravo: :cp:  :high: You are doing great!

Ellis and Peggy...I might be nuts, but there do appear to be a couple of Phase III recipes in the SBD Cookbook that show ingredients not allowed in Phase II like Phyllo dough. I can't wait to have that! Of course, you want to use PAM or some such spray and not butter between the layers, but it'll be a lot of fun to use! I'm making little tartlets from phyllo with feta and sundried tomato filling for our party. I'm also making these cheesy southwest pockets from phyllo. I'll try to post both recipes. At this point, phyllo sounds VERY decadent! ;)

12-10-2004, 07:18 PM
Bamie, if it's any help, I'll be in Huntsville this wanna meet for coffee? You can hint at a mysterious "date" and see if that shakes him up a bit! Men! Sometimes, as dense as they are, it really makes you wonder how they've managed to increase the gene pool all these generations...

Bunna, good plan!! With all the holiday temptations, you have to have a good defense in place.

KO, 6 POUNDS!!! Way to go, girl!! :bravo:

Anchor, I have the cutest picture of dh when he was about 2, wearing his dad's cowboy boots. They were so big and he was so little, all you could see was his body sprouting out of the boots!

Beachgal, hope your romantic dinner is perfect in EVERY way!

Everyone else, Hello!! Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

I'm off to Huntsville at the fannycrack of dawn to pick up Auntie Sally and for a brief visit with Uncle Justin and the cousins. The storms of last night passed but more blew through this afternoon. Not too terrible, and I even saw a pretty rainbow! :)

Okay... gotta go finish feeding the dragon (doing laundry), then rustling up some grub for the gang.

See all you Chicks on Monday!

12-10-2004, 08:19 PM
Dawg Mama I should have caught you before you left! hahaahaha Oh he's so goofey he probably wouldn't even care! Well thanks for tryin to help me out though! Have fun in the Rocket City!

Laurie... Maybe I'll tell him I had all these men lookin over at me drivin DD to Cullman tonight! Like they could have seen me whizzin by at 80! I'll leave that part out! haha
