Good Morning Everyone..well actually good afternoon here in sunny Brisbane!

I thought I would get us started today.. I am feeling quite motivated and I just wanted to share it with you all. I thought that I would go back onto phase 2 after my trip but I have had far too many carb cravings over the last few days - so I will start phase 1 tomorrow! I wil do it for as long as I am comfortable...

Well i seem to be settling back into home little one and I are having a few small skirmishes which are absolutely natural but frustrating non the less. It i pretty hot here in Brisbane 34 degrees celcius (i'm not sure hoe that translates into farenheit)... I started trying to get the garden back in order yesterday, so i will keeo that up today.

Hope you are all having a great day,

Hi Marianna. 34C translates to too darn hot here in Canada and also in the States! So strange to hear you are starting into summer and we are dreading winter weather.
It's 9:48 PM here in Eastern Canada and I will sleep well knowing that the Thursday Daily is started. Thanks for doing it.

Good Afternoon, Morning, Middle-of-the-night to everyone.

Its funny to open the SB forum and see the thread already started!! Right now, Thursday, its 7:15pm in Brisbane, and 10:15am in Germany, and anywhere from midnight to the crack of dawn in North America. (if anyone is curious its all here:

Its a cold 5C/41F, gray, dreary day here. Nothing out of the ordinary for December - LOL. By the way, 34C is a toasty 93F. We'll just have to live vicariously through Bostonchick and Artemis to get us through the winter doldrums.

We're having a potluck lunch at work today and I'm not expecting much of anything OP so I'm taking some snacks in case I need them later.

How do you eat your oats? Can anyone recommend something for me to put in my morning oatmeal? I really like it with raisins but we all know they fall into the 'limited-rarely' category.

Wishing you all an OP day.

I like my oats with grated apple on top and a shake of ground cinnamon..thats when its cold enough to eat them :) and I also like toasted almonds!

morning is 6:27 am here made myself get out of bed with dh this morning have many things on my todo list today. dd and I started christmas decorating last night and I would like to get some cleaning and finish decorating today and then I really need to get things in order so I can start my christmas candies for my wee ones. I also am going to make music and picture cd's for them. I am going to try to put a dent in some shopping between now and monday and then maybe I won't feel so paniced.
As for OP I am thinking that is not going to happen til after the holidays when I settle down with the working thing. Well I must get going and accomplish something before I get the girls up for school. I will try to pop back in later this morning. Have a great day.

Good morning, Chickies~~ :coffee:

I thought I was hallucinating when I saw there was not only a Thursday thread but that there were already 4 posts! :dizzy:

Had another STAT call last night before I even left the lab. Got stupid and grabbed a fast food hamburger as my supper. My body repaid me for my stupidity though, not as a weight gain, but as in "Tummyache From Hades That Kept Me From Sleeping." Arrgh! But I think I've finally learned my lesson. My body just can't tolerate that greasy, junk-carb laden garbage that passes for "food".

Tonight, Dh and I are headed to the Painted Potter to make a some Christmas presents. He said he'd have dinner ready, but I think I'd better call him early on today and suggest we do a dinner salad or something that my poor tummy would like better than say, a fried egg sandwich.

Oh, Abroad, I'm another one who adores raisins in my oats, but since they're limited, I do maple extract, cinnamon and Splenda. If I'm feeling really decadent, a splash of condensed skim milk.

Mariana, what's growing in your garden? Now that winter's here in the US, it's time to start getting the ground ready for next year's garden. In the south, you're practically "unAmerican" if you don't plant a garden! I'll have a whole winter's worth of bunnybeans and this fall's leaves for compost, too! :)

Okay, off to the shower....then off to the gym to work off that hamburger that's sitting like a five pound dumbell in my stomach.

Hope all you Chicks have a great day on the Beach.

Good Morning Ellis! We were posting at the same time. It takes me forever due to 5 million (yes million) hahaha interuptions! Now that my kids are older they are not so hey when are we getting the tree up!

12-02-2004, 08:48 AM
Morning chickies

Another nice grey dismal day here in lovely Toronto. At least it's not raining like yesterday - it started to snow big fluffy flakes as I was walking into work this morning - why are they only lovely if you are looking out at them from a nice warm room with a mug of something in your hand?

Still haven't found my Christmas spirit - maybe I'll find it this weekend after I do some cleaning, I will put up a few decorations. We always do a fresh tree and so don't get it until the weekend before Christmas. I think I'll make paper snowflakes with my DS to hang on the front door.

I have parent-teacher interview tonight - DS got his report card yesterday - I want to ask her why my 7yr old who has been talking in full sentences (constantly!) since the age of 2 got a C+ in oral communications.

I can't get my head wrapped around the new grading system here - a B is now equivelent to what used to be an A.
B means meets provincial standards, A means exceeds provincial standards.
DS did quite well with 5 As, 3 Bs, and 4 Cs (in Music, Art & Drama - because he is TOO enthusiastic! - and the one in Oral communications :?: ) He is in grade 2 btw.

I made my taco-salsa chicken breasts again last night and forgot the cheese - but it was still good - I have a feeling this is going to be a staple for me.

Ok I think I have yammered on long enough - can't put off work indefinitely :D

Have a good one all :coffee:

Running late again! This retirement stuff is stressful!

Jane comes to sit with Harry at 11 so I can take off to town. I have a huge shopping list - most of it is food for the Christmas baskets we are sending out in the Village. There is an even bigger need this year than before - so sad!

We had frassing SNOW yesterday but it hasn't stayed, thank God! I don't mind winter coats, hats and mitts but I sure hate the hassle of boots! One winter I managed to get by with just clogs and my duckie boots but that was an exception!

Have a super day, chickies. It's nice to see so many people posting.

12-02-2004, 09:01 AM
Now that my kids are older they are not so hey when... Bamie, I just LOVE the way you talk.

I'm going to slip into a coma if I don't get some coffee soon...

12-02-2004, 09:05 AM
Whadda ya mean it hasn't stayed!?!? It's all over the ruddy ground!!!

12-02-2004, 09:15 AM
Hahahaha! Not here it isn't. Compared to you, I'm in the banana belt! Get some more coffee and don't be kwabby!

12-02-2004, 10:00 AM
 Ellis, did you get your coffee yet? ;)

Oy, 14 posts at 8:30 is too much for me! :faint:

Today I have to work on my paper and get a ton of real work done too. I was exhausted last night...just off my feet! Fell asleep as soon as I got home, dear DH made dinner, woke me up to eat, and I went back to bed as soon as we finished and I had fed and watered the pets. I was just so tired! :( Hopefully I can get my paper done today at work. It's not due yet, but I have to finish it by tonight if I want my prof. to look it over and give me her thoughts. I'm trying not to stress too hard about it. There's just so much on my plate! LC, your list looks like mine! I love Christmas, but I hate the rushing around. I'm looking forward to this being my last Christmas in school! It'll be so nice next year to be able to just focus on Christmas and nothing else!

We aren't getting a tree this year as there just wasn't enough time with our trip to Europe. I'm really going to miss it!!! We are doing our annual Christmas party, though, and it'll be the night before we leave for CA for the holidays...I'm a nut! ;) This weekend, I need to do last minute shopping, wrapping and shipping, if possible, and work on my last paper for both classes. Oy!

Hope everyone has a great day and that the frassing snow melts, at least on the sidewalks and streets! Wouldn't it be great if all the walks and streets were heated and so the snow and ice melted there, but stayed pretty on the rooftops and lawns? :D

12-02-2004, 10:16 AM
Maybe next Christmas you'll have a baby, Laurie! :D (wishful thinking on my part. I always want everyone to suffer with me)
I hope you get everything done, hon. :grouphug: Good luck with the paper!

Little Chick, you're scaring me. I feel that I need to rush out right now and get some Christmas shopping done...

12-02-2004, 10:32 AM
Don't let her scare ya Ellis I have not boght the first thing! I ain't skeered! lol

12-02-2004, 10:36 AM
I fell asleep last night getting Brian to bed and got up at 10:30 to go to my bed and my pager was going off! Oh, well, at least I didn't work past midnight. :)

Brian and I are going to be in the Holiday Parade this Saturday with our Cub Scout pack. I started crocheting scarfs last night for us to wear. We are dressing as snowmen and I really wanted us to have matching scarfs. I guess I need to pick up some more green yarn on the way home though. I found a really neat pattern on the internet that has granny squares at the ends of the scarf to add some color. I'm on vacation tomorrow so hopefully I will have time to finish them. The parade is Saturday at 9am.

Hey, Kim, my son is 7 and in the second grade too! His teacher has been complaining about his handwriting. And they are going to start learning cursive script after Christmas. That should be interesting!

12-02-2004, 10:52 AM
Too late, Bamie. I'm just getting my coat on and heading out the door.

Barb, your son will be fine. :grouphug: We thought our (now 8 year old in grade 3) son would NEVER learn to read/write, but it suddenly "kicked in" this summer. Even his cursive writing looks GREAT!!
Funny... when our kids are very small, we think they're genius material. Then when they start going to school, we realize they're not quite as smart as we thought.

Just a quick hello. I have been among the missing for some time as I haave been recovering from some major surgery. Every day I feel better and stronger and am trying to walk more each day. And to do a few more little tasks, that I can do without reaching, pushing, pulling or lifting. My Dh is getting a taste of the life of a housewife, and i don't think he likes it very much. My two daughters were here with us , each one for two weeks and now we sure do miss all the pampering and TLC.
I don't imaagine that we will have much in the way of Christmas decorations. Since DH is also battling anemia in a big way, neither of us are too energetic. I do check in and read now and again, and have to report that even without trying, I have lost 15.lbs. This is not a good way to lose it tho'. Glad that I had it to lose. I know some people if they lost 15lbs they would blow away in a minute in the wind.

Hi to all of you, new and old gals on the board. Will check in now and again. Lizzie

Wow I'm checking in really late today!

I got interupted 5 times trying to read all the posts on this thread! Darn students making me work while I'm trying to goof off.

I went Santa shopping this am. Ran all over town looking for the terrein twister (sp?) Must be the hot toys for boys in this town. I bought the last on at Toys R Us. That was after the first 3 stores were sold out. I spent too much so I had to call the X and ask if he was chipping in for Santa this year or if he was going to have Santa come to his house also! Works everytime!

I've got all my goodies planned for Chicago this weekend. Celery & Laughing Cow, Pistachios, Cheese sticks, salads. Now I have to start packing the clothes!

Just going to stop in for a minute. It's lunch time here and I normally go to the track. Today I changed, got halfway there, then realized that I had a meeting coming up, so didn't have time. Daaah!!! Soooo, I'm posting instead.

I was sorely off off off waaaaayyyy off program last night. DH and I went to the dinner theatre and I just oinked my way around the buffet - three times. :D Sooooo, today it is down to business, lose the extra little weight and then work on my December plan.

We were also offered tickets to see the Nutcracker Suite last night. :( Darn it. The person who offered the tickets is trying to get a few more, so I am keeping my fingers crossed on that one.

Tonight is light the city for Christmas night, so we are planning to take the puppy for the evening and go hang out there. I haven't found her jacket yet, so will have some quick searching to do when I get home. It is always a fun evening...sleigh rides, fireworks, people milling about, entertainment, free drinks (like coffee and hot cocoa, not the other :D ) and snacks. I will stay away from the food stuff, but I'm sure DH will indulge.

Anyway, gotta run. My afternoon is filled with meetings that overlap, so I am now on the run. Have a great evening everyone... tata
