Default Tuesday Chat 11/30

Last day of November!! Where did it go? Well, my car goes in to get fixed today. I'm praying it doesn't cost a ton to get fixed. The scale has gone down nicely and 1 more pound and I'll actually weigh what it says for my siggie THEN I can work on getting more off for Christmas. Once again had to explain why I can't eat what I like on weekends to my mom. Think she'll ever "get it"?? Other than that, the headache is still here and I'm hoping that it'll go away in a couple days. Carb-free headaches are the pits, eh?

Good morning Brenda.

Well my orthopedic surgeon called in some medication for my bursitis! WOOHOO I feel like a new woman! I don't know what the heck this stuff is but I don't care!!!! I can move my arm without pain. I slept great last night! I could go on and on and on........I have to do PT as well but I may hold off for a couple of weeks.

Turkey leftovers last night! It was so good.....DH insisted on making hot turkey sandwiches with gravy and stuffing. *sigh* I have to admit....they were awesome! The good news is is that the stuffing is GONE! No more potato, no more sweet potato, no stuffing or cranberry.

Hope I can stay as OP as possible today That's all a girl can do.

Jane: What the devil did the doc prescribe for you? I sure could use that! I started with bursitis then it went to "frozen". I could barely move my arm at all. And we won't mention pain. I went through therapy, it went back to normal (no pain and movement was good)...but now it's starting to ache again. So any suggestions would be good!! And yes,,,,,staying as OP as possible is a good thing Always do your best!

Brenda: The stuff he prescribed is called Diclofenac Sodium. It is an anti-inflamitory I guess. A little stomach upset I can tell but I should take it with food......I think the brand name is Voltaren or something like that. I'm telling you my shoulder hasn't felt this good since the last cortisone shot and this is a lot less painful to take!

Good Morning Ladies!

Brenda: Congrats on the loss! Hope that you get your car fixed without having to spend a lot! I hope your headache gets better. The only time I had headache with Atkins is when I would go without caffeine. Those were the worst. After a couple of those headaches, I just started drinking the diet sodas. They never seemed to stall me or anything, and I didn't have the headaches from caffeine withdrawals. Hope you feel better soon!

Jane: Glad that your shoulder is feeling better! Isn't it amazing what the right medicine can do! Have a great OP day!

Nothing much new here! SOSDD! Still didnt' sleep very well last night. Was up 3 different times. But that is better than the previous 2 nights where I was up most of the nights. I haven't had any more contractions, so I guess this baby decided she wants to wait a ittle while. That's fine by me. My last day at work is Dec 17th. Would like to be able to get all the Christmas shopping done and the house in order by then where I can relax. DH got the computer moved to the new room and the nursery almost finished over the weekend! Also got the guest room ready for my grandma. She's coming down when the baby's born to stay for a little while. So little by little we are getting every thing ready! Just wish I had enough energy to get every thing done quicker Well, guess I better run and grab some breakfast and get ready for work! Hope you all have a great day and I'll check in later this afternoon!

Lisa

Brenda: I feel you on the headaches. I've got a monster one right now, too. It makes me wonder why I ever go off-plan.

Jane: Yippee! I'm glad you're feeling so good with your new medicine.

Lisa: Hope you're able to get some sleep soon! I'm getting very excited about this baby's arrival.

TG: Today is my real deal, too. I tried and did pretty well yesterday, but today is the day!

Well, after a Thursday-Sunday pigfest, I definitely need to get back on track and get serious with Atkins. Thank goodness I've been maintaining, but I still want to lose 30 pounds! I'm really going to buckle down between now and Christmas. I've got to or it could get really ugly!

Well, I got back to walking yesterday after taking a long hiatus for my back and then for being lazy. It felt so good to exercise. I've got to keep that up.

I've been in such a good mood since the house is decorated for Christmas -- I love it! What a great time of year! There's nothing like hearing Elvis sing "Blue Christmas." Now, I've just got to do some shopping!

Hope y'all have a great day!

Take care,
Jina

Well, I was in a whirlwind the last two or three weeks, just couldn't get here to post. I was better at getting to the gym though and was only so so on the food. For some reason now that I am in Advent, I am better able to focus on following Atkins more closely.

BRENDA - Sorry about those headaches, I have been having them when I am not on Atkins fully. Some people will never get "it'. My brother is one of them. I just don't get into it and eat what I want. Good luck to you.

LISA - Take it easy, relax, have fun. Glad to hear the contractions have stopped. Hard to have contractions and decorate a tree.

I want to get to 180 by Christmas and this is doeable if I stay focused and am prepared when I go somewhere. Fortunately my really good friends know I am on Atkins and so they make sure I have appropriate foods and my nonfriends who are selling the this one little bit can't hurt aren't really there for me.

Here at the office by myself this week, but wanted to check in and check up on everyone.

Jane: I've tried that stuff and it didn't work for my shoulder. Then again, neither did the THREE cortisone shots I had. They wanted to keep sticking me but told them if THREE didn't work they weren't getting another crack at it. I haven't been to a specialist since '02 I think. Glad they're working for you!

Lisa: You're not supposed to have energy..you're pregnant And when you've given birth you're supposed to be tired because you have a baby....and when they get older....well you get the picture Glad things are straightening up for you

TG: Do Tylenol or Advil work for your headache? They're sure not touching mine. I'm glad I didn't give up caffeine while trying to get past this carb-headache! How're you doing OP today?

Jina: You took the words right out of my head. WHY do I go off program when I KNOW I'm going to be paying for it in the end (in more ways than one). I haven't even begun to decorate and you're all done? I did go pricing fake trees and there's a nice one for $30 I imagine it'll end up staying in the store if my DH has a thing to say about it.

Marie: Hope things warm up for you soon. You might want to re-think the term "cold" until you've been to Wisconsin

Liza: Glad things are going well for you. Sounds like you've got a great support group in your friends

Well, another day (so far) OP and I feel ok. Headache is slowly disappearing but I'm tired. I remember this feeling. Not sure why I'm tired now but wasn't when I ate all that carb crap. Been taking vitamins so that can't be it. And I sleep ok (at least for now) so that's not it. Mystery again!!!

Brenda: I had two shots and didn't want to bother with the 3rd because the 2nd one only lasted about a week and the pain was back. This stuff seems to be working great....I mean I can't do everything but I sure don't feel as much pain as before....I will take it!

I envy you Jane!! I was told I HAD to have the 3rd shot or they wouldn't bother seeing me again. Little did I know THAT doc was retiring anyway!!! None of them really worked for me. All they did was create more pain!! I would actually get sick after each shot. The only relief I've had was when I went to PT and was able to move my arm again. It lasted for over a year..but now it's starting to ache again. Just hoping it doesn't get as bad as it had been. Ever heard of "frozen shoulder"?? Not fun!

Something I read that I need to keep remembering:
Treat treats as treats, no matter what the carb count, says the report. Don't eat five low-carb chocolate bars in a single sitting. You wouldn't eat five regular chocolate bars at one time -- or, at least, you shouldn't if weight loss is your goal!
