I started my Christmas shopping this week-end! I am in the spirit like I never have been before--don't know WHAT is wrong with me! I think it's because marriage is eminent (I'm gonna have my "own" little family to shop for!)
At Target I hit the $1 rack and got a TON of great stuff. I got 4 cookbooks for each of my sisters, my sis-in-law and soon-to-be sis-in-law. I also got several $1 DVD's for my mom and dad--I'm gonna get them a DVD player for Christmas and they'll need something to watch!
I got mom a ton of lotion/spray from Victoria's Secret. She'll wind up getting that before Christmas.
I went to Hobby Lobby and they had just put a bunch of yarn on clearence! I got $80-worth!!!!! Dang, now I've GOT to knit something!
I lost 2 more pounds--yea!
Hope you all are doing well!

Cheryl your the shopper of the week. Those are great deals. Congratulations on the weight losted.
Gayle are you all tired out and can't post today.
Sherry I am glad that you see that you can make a magical christmas without money. Christmas is love.
The angels started to fight today. It started snowing about an hour ago. Fluffy lafge flakes are coming down. Looks like christmas.
Hope that you are all having a good day.
11-22-2004, 05:33 PM
Hello??????? Heck...Where is everyone?????? I bet you're getting the turkey ready!
Cheryl....I'm so jealous that you and others have already started the Christmas shopping!! WTG on another 2 lbs! :cp: You go girl!!!!!!!!!
Here's a Thanksgiving poem for all.....
:hun:May your stuffing be tasty
May your turkey be plump,
May your potatoes and gravy
have nary a lump.
May your yams be delicious
and your pies take the prize,
and may your Thanksgiving dinner
stay off your thighs! :hun:
11-22-2004, 05:36 PM
Dee....We were posting at the same time! I bet the snow looks beautiful with your house all decorated too!! Oh my gosh I wish I were there to see it. I love snow!!!!!!!!! :)
11-22-2004, 07:25 PM
Dee: I almost wish there were snow here. Maybe then I would get in the Christmas spirit. Ba humbug...
I haven't bought the first present yet... Oh my... I am like you Sherry. Not much cash at all and I can't figure out how to deal with it, so I haven't been doing any thing. What a cop out huh??
Sherry: Your Christmas sounds absolutely wonderful to me.. Just being together is all you need to have a great Christmas. I loved your poem. Sounds just about right!!
Cheryl: WTG on the 2 lb loss.... Keep it up girl!! WTG on the shopping too. Your definately a bargain queen.
I go to the arthritis Dr. in the morning. I sure hope she can help me, but I don't know what is left for me to try. We shall see.
Guess what. I am thinking about trading in my car for a van. What kind of vehicles do you gals own?
11-22-2004, 11:39 PM
Carol, I drive a 1993 Mercury Cougar, gets me where I need to go. Steve drives a 2004 Venture van through the company he works for. Good luck!!!!
Sorry I haven't posted...still trying to recover from the past week. The craft show bordered between ok and crappy, I'm offically hanging up my hat as a craft show groupie. Sales use to be great, but now everyone can just get on the internet and order stuff. I made enough to pay my booth space, expenses and had enough left over to help with Christmas, like I said, not fantastic, but the money will help out.
It was kinda funny though...I could of sold skin care products! I had three ladies (at separate times) comment about my skin. One lady even asked if I sold products. Weird, huh??? Ramona, the BE must be doing something!
I am about 1/2 way done with Christmas shopping. It is really hard here because both girls have birthdays between Thanksgiving and Christmas. I have been trying to buy here and there or if I find something and don't have enough moola, I put it on lay-away. I haven't started shopping for Steve yet. Did we just decide to do a card exchange here???
Cheryl, you are my kind of shopper! I love bargains!!! WOW! A dollar sale at Target? YOU GO GIRL! What do you like to knit? GREAT JOB ON THE WEIGHT LOSS!
Dee, you keep those silly angels there playing in the snow! We have snow predicted for tonight...so far it's clear and I REALLY hope it stays that way! Have I told you, I can't stand snow???? It's cold, wet and cold...I will take sunshine anyday!
Sher, any news about Drew's legs yet?
I may not be posting daily until after Thanksgiving, I have alot going on, plus I'm not in the best of moods, I hate to bring you guys down too.
11-23-2004, 06:06 PM
Gayle if you look before thanksgiving you get to posting. We are here for you. I need you. You are my support when I am down and I am getting scared about this surgery. If I post when I am down you can too. We all said the same to Sherry. What's up? It wasn't long ago that Shelley was having some problems. Carol is dealing with a lot of pain from her arthritis. Debbie has a healing hubby. We all have problems, your friends are here for you if you want to share. You know my email addie too. I wish that your sales would have been higher at the craft sale. Don't be discouraged with your work. You are very creative and do awesome work.
Carol I am glad that you are seeing a specialist. I hope that there is something else that can be done. I will ship you all the snow that we get. Problem is now it rainned first and we have ice underneath. Time for you to get shopping. There are lots of ways to deal with christmas even when you don't have a lot of cash. Maybe everyone could suggest a few ideas to help the ones out struggling.
Sherry I am glad that you posted. I am like Gayle, I really don't care for the snow. We are garenteed to get snow so the longer that it doesn't come the better. Cute poem. What are Drew's results?
Cheryl go Cheryl go! You weight is just spiraling down. That is wonderful.
11-23-2004, 07:02 PM
Dee-When is your surgery? Please know that I am here for you if you need any help.
Gayle-I know you must be very busy. I'm sure that the only reason you didn't sell everything was because nobody was. So many people are last minute shoppers. I wish you had a show closer to Christmas or after Thanksgiving. Your things are so lovely and you have such talent.

I'm ok girls, just down in the dumps... thank you for your well wishes and complements about my painting. Almost everyone that came into my booth made a comment about my art work, saying how gorgeous it was...then they turned around and walked out! Oh well, I guess now I truly understand the expression of a starving artist!
Here is a recipe if you guys want it:
Bread dough ornaments
4 cup flour
1 cup salt
1.5 cup hot water
2t. vegetable oil
The oil makes the dough easier to work with. Cut out shapes just like making sugar cookies. Bake 200* for ???? (until hard) or I also read where you could microwave for 2 minutes on a safe plate. Seal with Primer, then paint or decorate. When completed, seal with a clear varnish on all sides. I'm thinking I may make personalized ornaments for Allison's kindergarten class.

Received this from Ramona:
Gayle, please tell everyone I'm sorry for not posting. I took a nasty fall on some wet tile and busted my knee cap and hurt my back again. I'm crawling back in bed now, but wanted to touch base.
Ramona, please make a speedy recovery! Let us know if there is anything we can do. LOVE YOU!!!!
11-24-2004, 10:43 AM
Gayle did Ramona really bust her knee cap or just hurt it? Poor thing, I hope that she has a speedy recovery. I liked your gift list. Good ideas. Do you think maybe your paintings are to good for a craft show and that you might be going after the wrong market? Do you have a local art gallery close by?
Shelley I have my back surgery on monday Dec 6th, less than 2 weeks. Thank you for being there. Las Vegas will be a good distraction from me thinking of my surgery. I am terrified to go under the knife again. We leave for Vegas friday afternoon.
The weather is cool out but now that we have snow that is staying it puts me at risk because it rainned first and it is very slippery. My girlfriend called and said there is no way that she is going to let me walk this morning. She is on her way down right now for coffee.
Hope that you all have a Merry day.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING DEAR FRIENDS!!!!!!
I am thankful for the wonderful blessing of having all of you as people I hold dear to my heart. Wishing each of you a blessed day!!!!
We had our second snow of the season last night. My kind of snow both times...by mid-morning it was gone! YIPPEEE!!!
Doni, so happy to hear you are "spunky" and holding up for yourself. Please don't let Brian or anyone else drag you down, you are more important then you realize.
I understand the money issue. Kids don't care what kind of decorations you have, maybe Catigan (sp?) could even make some?
Dee, I copied and pasted what Ramona sent me so I'm not sure how serious it is.
I did write here back, wished her a speedy recovery and told her to get some much needed rest.
11-25-2004, 06:47 AM

I won't be posting many more times before my surgery, I will try to post after we get home and a few times before monday which is surgery day.
Enjoy your weekend with your families.
Love you all.
11-26-2004, 02:01 PM
Dee, have a great time with Larry in Vegas!!! Play the slots for me!!! LOL! If I would of thought of it sooner, I was going to get your motel phone number & room number, then maybe by chance, I could of caught you in your room and been able to chat for a few minutes. Calls here within the states are alot cheaper then trying to call you in Canada. HAVE FUN, STAY SAFE & LOVE YOU!
11-26-2004, 02:38 PM
Hey Gayle you might get your wish. Just checking in and I seen your post. The hotel we are staying at is Imperial Palace and the # is ***-***-***. Don't know what room we will be staying in but it will be under Larry's name. And of course you know our last name. Time difference too so if you get a chance consider that. Best time to call would be later in the evening. Surprise me if you get a chance. lol
11-26-2004, 05:23 PM
Gayle (or anyone else who wants it)......I took the number out of Dee's post for privacy reasons. If you haven't already wrote it down, please email me & I will send you the number. Okey dokey???
**Be back later to post!!
11-27-2004, 06:24 AM
Sherry-You are so on top of things! You are the best moderator out there in cyberland!
Okay, I've run 2 days 10 miles, I still have today to go. Went and attacked the mall after running. What a mob! It took quite awhile to find a parking place, then the lines in the stores were incredible. I ended up finally making a couple of purchases, but I have only cover 1.5 nights of Hanukkah for the girls. I still have 6.5 to go!
11-27-2004, 10:17 AM
Made my goal of running 10 miles, 3 days in a row!! Now if I could only not eat, I'd be doing great!
11-27-2004, 10:18 AM
Dee, have a wonderful trip and win LOTS of money!
I'm moving around pretty well today. The swelling has gone down some in my knee and the cap is not cracked like we thought, so that is good! My left arm is pretty well black and my right boob(eek!) is black as well. I had some packages in my hand and my umbrella and I fell on top of those which caused a lot of bruising. I'm getting around with a cane but I think I will be able to chunk it by the first of the week.
Sherry, did you ever get the results of Drew's tests????
Okay, I'm going to submit this before the power goes off again. We've had storms all morning!
Have a good weekend everyone!
11-27-2004, 04:02 PM
Ramona-I'm glad that you are able to hobble around.
Gayle-Did you get to call Dee?? I hope she is having a great time.
Carol-Thanks for the card. You are so thoughtful.
11-27-2004, 06:00 PM
Shelley, I haven't been able to call Dee yet... of course, we all know she is a party animal, so she probably won't be in the room anyways!
GREAT JOB MEETING YOUR GOAL! YOU ARE AWESOME! Are you still going to run for charity? I noticed the other day walmart.com had .97 cent shipping on some items, could you find some stuff there for the girls?
Ramona, I hope you heal quickly, sounds like you had a pretty nasty fall. Did you guys go out to eat for Thanksgiving?
11-28-2004, 08:30 AM

Hello....I have been so busy everyday we've been off! Decorated my In-laws house, my house, cleaned..etc.
Quick update on Drew.....(Got to get ready for church)
Only half the hip bone has died. Therefore they won't do a hip replacement until it all dies. He is starting physical therapy twice a week to strengthen the part that is alive. Hopefully this will help him walk & not be in as much pain.
I told Mom by the time Wayne & Drew get through physical therapy, I'll be in another type of therapy!!!
Ramona.....You've been in my prayers!!! Bless your heart!!!!
Love to all......

11-29-2004, 08:12 PM
Thanks everyone for the birthday wishes. Rick flew out this morning for San Antonio to meet Ben and then they are driving to Montana. He doesn't know when he will be back. He might stay for most of December. So I spent my birthday by myself missing my mom and kids so much that my heart hurts. That just makes all of you even that much more special. You are my family today. Thanks for always being there for me.
11-30-2004, 05:57 AM
Ramona-Why are they staying in Montana? Is Ben stationed there? Is there anyway that you can go and see them for a few days. I'm sure it wouldn't hurt for you to take a couple of days off from work.
11-30-2004, 10:13 AM
Shelly, Ben is stationed in Montana. He has been in San Antonio at Kennel Master school and is driving back. Rick is driving back with him. I don't get any vacation days until I've worked for a year, which will be in January. Ben is coming home on leave in January and Rick said he may just stay and come back with him then. Needless to say, I'm not very happy right now.
11-30-2004, 04:45 PM
Ramona, I know the holidays will be sad for you this year. This will be the first year without your mom and the boys will be away...even when you think there is no way...someone does care about you...I'm one of the many that do!!!! How is your father coping with the holidays?
Sorry I've been away...I'm not in the best of spirits, this seems to be a rough time of year for alot of people. Steve left Monday in the middle of a snowstorm, if he can make it back, he will be home late on Wednesday. Since Monday AM we have 6-8 inches of the glorious white stuff...NOT! I have snow drifts everywhere! The wind blew yesterday, I can't get through my drive. We ended up taking Allison to school in Liz's car today, I need to go see if I can get mine out of the garage out back and make it to the street. If I can get to the street and to the highway, then I'm in fine shape.
Today is Elizabeth's 20th birthday! Man, I'm old!!!!! Since her dad is out of town, I told her Allison and I would take her to Applebee's tonight for dinner.
Wishing everyone a great day!
11-30-2004, 05:50 PM
HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY RAMONA!!!
12-01-2004, 08:28 AM
My dear, dear Gayle,
Thank you so much for the wonderful suprise I found in my mail this morning! I had to work very late last night and just got around to going through the mail this morning. You are SOOOOOOO SWEET!!!!! You are a wonderful friend....you all are! You've made my day so much brighter.
12-02-2004, 07:26 AM
