Morning chicks I figured since I was up and out of bed at 6:20 this morning that I would start us off. I can't go back to bed this morning which has been my ususal thing on Mondays as I have too much to do: I can't believe christmas is coming next month and I have not really started any shopping with the exception of the girls main gifts. How about you chicks are you all done your shopping? I am going to try to be beach friendly this year usually I cook and bake for a month and then end up with tons of stuff left. So I am only going to do the girls favorites and then the rest beach friendly.

I am going to go and put in a load of laundry and get the girls out of bed and start some housework and I will be back......

Good Morning

Hope everyone had a good weekend. Mine was pretty good but I had a couple of non-OP foods, however, nothing too bad. The scale is only up .5lb so I feel OK about it.

I cooked the marinated London Broil from the book on Sat. noon, hoping to have some lunch and leftovers for a couple of more meals. Well, DH decided that he wanted to join me for lunch and the next thing I knew there were NO leftovers. BAH. That, and the fact that he ususally prefers the more 'flavorful' (fatty) cuts of meat. I guess when someone else has done all the preparation anything is good. Next time I'll marinate it in veggies and then he'll stay away - Hahaha.

Well, I guess I'd better go and try to be productive today. So what's on your plan for this week????

Good morning, Chicks~~ :coffee:

Little Chick, are you in a different time zone than us here in the EST? It's not even 6:15 yet, here.

I've been up about 45 mins. Got some eggs boiled. Will have some broccoli and boiled eggs for lunch today. Oatmeal for breakfast. It's freezing out. Literally. Had our first freeze last night. Brought all the tropical plants in last evening.

Over the weekend, I decided to switch around my meals. I seem to do better if I eat a lighter evening meal, so I'm having a protein shake around 6:00 pm, rather than dinner. Sounds weird, I know, but I just hate waking up all swollen from the sodium in regular foods. I can drink water during the day to flush the sodium out of my tissues this way, too. :D

Ok, time for my shower. I'll try and pop back in a bit.

Good morning!

Little Chick, I'm glad to see you posting. I read about the storm and the ower outages and wondered if you were affected. Nope, I've not even thought about Christmas shopping but must as I need to mail my DD's stuff to Nanaimo.

Broad Abroad, I love flank steak. You reminded me that I have one in the freezer that I must get out and plop in a marinade.

Mamacita, yes, Little Chick is an hour earlier than us. That's why she's so perky in the mornings. A protein shake for dinner sounds just right but I doubt that I could convince DH of that!

By 8, I need to have my car to the dealership on a heated seat recall :( . I will switch to a loaner and take Harry for bloodwork for 8:45. Then we'll go out for breakfast. I hope to get Hershey back today but have been unable to get in touch with Morna. I suspect her Dad is checking out and she may be at the hospital.

It's going to be sunny and a bit warmer for the next few days so there is a chance that those bulbs will get put in. Sarah is giving me an afternoon, maybe two, and I hope to get that done and the leaves raked. It's time to move my SAD light to the kitchen table so I can start my days with light therapy.

Gotta go as we need to be outta here in an hour and it takes poor Harry that long to wake up, have his bath and dress. I'll check in later.

Good morning, Ruth and Abroad, have just a few minutes to peek back in while I wait for my hair to towel dry.

Abroad, I love London Broil...good lean cut of beef that goes a long way in this house.

Little Chick, to answer your question, yes and no on the Christmas shopping. The kids are getting $$$ for Hawaii this year. (They leave the day after Thanksgiving). 24yoDD and I went in halvsies and bought dh a personal DVD player and the extended family is getting handmade stuff like hats and scarves, which is why I've been in such a froth lately. Too much to do and not enough time to do it.

Ruth, I would dearly love to have one of those OTT lights. One of those things I need, but won't buy for myself. :( Crazy isn't it? If Morna's dad is checking out, I hope it's peaceful and she's okay with it. Losing a parent is never easy.

Well, must run...gotta put my knitting stuff in a bag to take to work and pack my lunch. Bye~~~

Hope everyone has a great day on the Beach!

Good morning all,

I had a great social weekend. Including yesterday having the running group over for homemade waffles and quiche. After running 4.5 miles I allowed myself a waffle. Then realxed and had my bookgrop over. During the heated discussion I had a littel too much wine. This made getting up this morning a little hard. Hence no yoga before work. I will work out at lunch today.

I just finished reading "Seeds of Deception". I am only going to eat organic non processed foods until Genetic Engineered foods are test more. What a book. I would recommend it to anyone.

Hope everyone has a nice week.

I am trying to eat healthy and exercise 3 -4 x's a week. Fitting it in to my life seems to be easier lately maybe exercise is becoming a routine which would be wonderful. I do enjoy the stress relief. Well have a great day!!!!!!!!!!

Mornin' Chicks. I'm draggin in! Up one pound and shocked that it is only one. lol Busy day today I have to ride up to my MIL to help her pick out some new curtains for her guest room. She lives high on the mountain! lol It's a nice ride so I will try to relax and enjoy the journey! lol She and I are goin shopping tomorrow and she hopes to get them.
Little Chick I have not even thought about it yet! Both kids want money so I guess DH is giving it to them. DS wants to buy himself a prepaid cell phone. I cannot believe all the kids that have cell phones now!
Good morning Mama it's a new day! I want DH to take me to Hawaii for our ann. in 3 years. I figure it will take that long to save enough money cause it will not be a cheap vacation and I will not be on a budget! LOL
Ruth... Don't ya just hate recalls! I have one on my van but DH will not make time to follow me down and drop it off. They don't do loaners they give you a courtesy ride which I took once! The guy almost hit a gas truck head on and that was all for me and their rides!
A Broad... DH does not really care for meat but he always eats it! He will say I don't really like it and I'm like well then don't eat it cause I do like it! He wares me out!
Ok I gotta get goin. I'll check on y'all chickies later on!

Hey cac and cacmsc We posted at the same time. Good morning and have a great day!

11-15-2004, 09:01 AM
Good morning ladies.

Little Chick - I actually started my xmas shopping on Saturday - got a couple DVDs for DS - money is tight this year and I only have one kid - so hopefully shopping won't take that long :)

Today is official 2 weeks weigh-in - I am down 8 lbs - I am going to do one more week of Phase 1 then on to phase 1.5.

I made Pork parmasan last night - think Veal Parmasan without the veal or breading - thinly sliced pork loin, no sugar sauce and lowfat cheese and DS & DH loved it - we used the extra sauce over spaghetti squash.

Didn't drink nearly enough water over the weekend - gotta work on that.

Off to start drinking my water now.

Have a good day all.

Good Morning Everyone,

Its a sweltering 37 this morning in Northern NY (least its above freezing). My christmas shopping is almost done I am the early shopper I start with the after christmas sales to see what I can pick up for the next year, I love shopping but I hate to be rushed. The weekend was great but long with the kids off of school thursday and friday. Have a great day everyone off for diaper duty and the curious weigh in!!

Good morning Beach Babes
I'm still sleepy and only on my first cup of coffee but I wanted to chk in to say hi. I worked all weekend, so nothing exciting to report (unless you count the the patient that was threatening suicide or the confused man who had a plate of food on the floor for his dog ~who was not in the hospital with him). Are we SURE it wasn't a full moon ???

Today will be spent running errands to either pay for or pick out things for the new kitchen. I'm checking out this dishwasher that is actually divided into 2 drawers and each drawer runs independent of each other. So cool to not have to bend over to load the thing!!

I ate well over the weekend and the scale moved another 2 pounds down :cp: Still need to work on the water thing.

Hope everybody has a wonderful and productive day

Good Morning All

Well we are up and runndin. Already took DD1 to Kindergarten now getting DD2 to eat breakfast and changed before she has MDO. Then I am off and running. Have a Dr Appt then back to school to help the teacher with her stuff. Hoping to get to a couple of returns that I have been putting off. It is a dreary day here, cool and drizzel. Not a good day to be in and out of the car. Oh well such is the life of a SAHM. Hope you all have an OP day.

11-15-2004, 10:11 AM
Kim~~Congrats on your weight loss during phase 1 :cp: Keep up the progress.

11-15-2004, 10:36 AM
Morning all.

I am sick. I'll be leaving work as soon as my boss gives me back my report to update and hand in. But knowing her, that won't be until after lunch. UGH!

I didn't make it to the gym, and won't go today. There goes my starting off on the right foot!!!

Being sick is the pits.

Have a very, very WELL Monday!

Morning Chickies

No scale movement for me this am not sure if it was the way stacked up yesterday or all the pistachios last week. Yesterday I had breakfast late - after working out. Then didn't eat again until 6 pm - I had a bowl of chili and salad and then some ricotta with cocoa powder. Definitely not enough water, yesterday either. I had to go two hours up north to retrieve DS from my X's cabin. Deer season for rifles starts this am and that is no place for a little boy to be.

I'll do better this this week on the diet.

Little chick - I'm almost done except for DS. He is 7 and I think he may be on the edge of not believing in Santa so he didn't do a list until last night. Everyone else is done.

A Broad - London Broil yummy! No wonder DH was poking around. I ate chili and pea soup this weekend.

Mama - I'm with ya on the late eating thing. I ate too late last night and I'm pretty sure that screwed up my weigh in this am.

Cac and Cacmsc - I thought you guys were the same. :dizzy: I must not be the brightest bulb this Monday morning.

Bami - you just go everywhere! Your family must be really tight. I hope you drive a car that gets good gas mileage!

Everyone else! I have to go get a cup of green tea! Have a great beach day!

Morning, Chickies!

LC, it sounds like you have some great plans in place for the holidays! I have almost no shopping done, although I did get my Christmas cards yesterday...much earlier than I normally would have, because we'll be out of town for a while. I'm hoping to get most of our gifts in Europe to make them unique and special. If not, I'll be doing some scrambling to get gifts ready in time! Are you in Nova Scotia or PEI or such (time change)?

A broad, DH and I have a love hate relationship with leftovers! He eats a lot of the things I want and leaves a lot of the things I shouldn't have! I really need to institute some sort of post-it note system or something! I only eat starch once a day, so starchy leftovers are all his, which I think he's finally figured out. Hope the steak was good, at least!

Mama, I don't think that's weird! Many other cultures eat that way. In Mexico, we had a big breakfast, a huge lunch with four courses, and a tiny dinner, if anything. I felt healthier there than I ever had (before I started SBD!).

Ruth, you have butt warmers! :hyper: Those are so fun! Sorry about the recall, they have to keep the car for very long? Hope the loaner is nice! Enjoy breakfast out, hope DH's doctor visit goes well. How's your knee?

cac, sounds like a great weekend! Did you make WW waffles? DH made them two weeks ago and though they were pretty dense, they were really good! :T

cacmsc: welcome to another New Yorker!

Bamie, enjoy the time with your MIL...sounds fun! :D

Kim, the pork sounds delicious! :T Congrats on the weight loss!!! :hat:

rugrats, no fair! It was 26 degrees down here in the finger guys are supposed to get the cold weather! ;) Brrrrr.....

Sil, it's so good to see you!!! :D Are you a doctor? Didn't realize you worked with patients. That dishwasher sounds wonderful! And congrats on the 2 pounds! :hat:

SKHerb, I know...but your day sounds dreamy! :cloud9: I cannot wait to be a SAHM! :D Enjoy and hope the doctor's visit goes well and isn't for anything serious! :crossed:

Oy! I had a very unhealthy weekend as to my actions, not my food. I stayed up so late each night, struggling to finish my homework. I'm trying to get a ton done before we leave for Europe...only have two weeks left in the term once we get back, and I don't want to have to rush to get everything done then. I'm just exhausted, and I think I'm fighting off a cold.

With DH out of town all weekend, I had double duty with pets and just needed a nap! So I didn't get my yoga/pilates done (and I love that! :( ) and I didn't go to the gym this morning. :nono: I can't go to jazzercise tonight because I have a workshop to present with a student from our office. Then I have a writing assessment at home with my case study. Hopefully after that I can work on writing up the assessment I did yesterday with my other case study so I can turn that in before I leave on Thursday.

I'm just trying to be as gentle as I can with my body because I sure as heck don't want to be sick in Europe!!! :p But I hate not exercising, especially when I know I'll get very little exercise on the vacation. We're staying in budget hotels, so no gym. Lots of walking, but no weights. Oh well.. :( I'm definitely starting to get excited about the trip, though!

We're having sliced flank steak sandwiches for dinner tonight. Should be really good! I forgot to weigh in this's odd when I do that. Maybe tomorrow will be better? I've been bouncing around in between 230 and 232 for the last two weeks with no movement. Either Europe is going to make this a great month for weight loss, or a really bad one. :o I'm hoping it's the former! :crossed:

Hope everyone has a great day! :sunny:

11-15-2004, 11:49 AM
Morning, everyone! Work has been busy so this is my first chance to post. I've been steady for the last three days after losing 2 1/2 pounds this month. That is fine with me. TOM should start today so I'll be happy to make it through without gaining. I did make it to the gym yesterday but probably won't today.

Eating was good this weekend. Last night I made meatloaf (phase 2) and tried a recipe that I got off of Food Network. I blanched fresh brussel sprouts (cut in half) while cooking some turkey bacon (they used panchetta) and a little garlic. Then I added the brussel sprouts to the bacon and sauted them for a few minutes and then added some chicken broth and let them finish cooking. DH said they were much better than frozen brussel sprouts so I imagine I'll make them again. I just need to remember to put an X in the stem of the large sprouts so the stems cook. If anyone is interested, I'll post the recipe.

Tonight I am making Peking Pasta (WW spaghetti over chicken that's been marinated with ginger and other tasty stuff - I use SF maple syrup and artificial brown sugar instead of the honey called for originally) and I'm going to try a ginger flavored asparagus dish that I got out of the cookbook. I was able to get some nice looking fresh asparagus so I figured I'd try it. I've got lots of yummy stuff planned this week. I guess the cool weather makes me more in the mood to cook.

Jenn - Welcome back! Sorry you don't feel good. Maybe some chicken soup with WW noodles would help?

Good morning everyone!

Its a cool, damp morning here. I am on my 1st cup of coffee...trying to wake up a little more :tired: . I spent the whole weekend at home with DH, just being lazy. I hope we get out more next weekend. I am more social than he is. We do have a large age gap, so that could make a difference, too. He's 15 years older than me. I packed us both a healthy South Beach breakfast and lunch to take to work. Hard boiled eggs, turkey bacon and for lunch leftover baked chicken with veggies. He says he feels better after a week. His tummy does look smaller! :cheer: Have a wonderful day everyone! :balloons:

Hi ladies! I know I haven't been around lately, but I am baaaack! :) DH and I are starting over with Phase 1 today, and I am hoping to jump-start this weight loss!! I have not gained but I am not losing either.

So, I wanted to check in and say hi -- I hope everyone is doing well!!!

:) Lauren

OK, work was the pits all weekend and we had a potluck dinner yesterday. Let me just say I was very bad. In fact, after redoing phase 1 and doing well, I feel off the wagon for the past two weeks after redoing phase 1. What an idiot!
The holidays are around the corner and that's a time of weight gain for me, I'm a little scared that I'm going to blow all the hard work I've done since January. So, no more bad business for me. I will enjoy Thanksgiving dinner and I will enjoy Christmas Eve dinner. I will NOT ruin my success of the last year!

Unfortunately I'll "fix" my signature to reflect how bad I've been. I also am going to turn back into a scale ho.....ho ho ho! I've been away from it for two weeks and for me I need to weigh everyday. I rationalize way too easy.

Anyway, I need to be better.

For those of you who have their shopping done, will you do mine for me?????

Good to "see" you Jenne, get feeling better.

Hershey is home. All's right with my world now. Back to alleged "normal" which will now include two walks a day!

Hi everyone. I'm back. It has been a hectic weekend. We went to check out the apartment that we bought and spent the weekend there...on an air mattress.

We will be renting it out in Feb. or March, so we don't want to cart too much furniture there that will need to be moved home...first, though, it goes up 5 flights of stairs, then has to be carted down 5 flights of stairs. Hmmmm, wonder if that can be counted for exercise?

We took our dog with us this weekend - we presently live on an acreage, so living in an apartment has been quite a change for her. At the beginning of the weekend, she whined and cried when we left. We even heard her barking when we were outside on the street. By the end of the weekend, she was fine being left by herself and was even pulling us on a walk around the block every time she needed to go out - somehow she needed to go out very frequently which included 5 flights of stairs down, a walk around the block and 5 flights of stairs up. When we do finally move in, we can be promised a lot of exercise to go with it.

On the food note, I did very poorly. But, I am not sorry. We went out for Greek food on Friday night and ate everything that I wanted. Then yesterday, had a birthday party for DM. Yup - had potatoes AND cake. Well, I am up 3.2 pounds today, but will be down again by the end of the week following Phase 1. It was worth every bite. ;)

Hope everyone has a great day. Talk to all soon.
