Default Eat to Live

Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum, and new to veganism. I was wondering if any of you guys had read Eat to Live by Joel Fuhrman, if so what are your thoughts? It is rather strict, this is my first week, but so far so good. I'm trying this out for health reasons, and hopefully to lose about 15 pounds. Thanks for any advice you can give on becoming vegan.

I would love to hear more about this book. Have you finished reading it yet?

I'm not sure I could eliminate all animal products from my diet though. I love my cheese, and occasionally eggs. I've tried several soy cheeses but haven't found one I like. Have you?

Several years ago, actually many years ago! I tried to eliminate cheese from my diet and I always missed it too much. I use soy milk and love the taste of that, I don't like the taste of cow's milk at all.

Hi

Just wondering how you got on with Eat To Live? I actually read it about the same time you did and tried it out but found it too hard. I picked it up again this week and am determined to get it right. Am two days in and so far so good, am feeling very very saintly

BTW I am not going vegan but will only be having eggs and cheese twice a week at the most and not in the initial six weeks.

I'm curious about this, too. This plan has many fans on another forum I frequent. Will be lurking here... please keep updating!

First week down, 3.5lb gone. Not bad considering I only have about 10 to lose in total . First two/three days were really tough from the salt perspective especially (I am a total salt addict) but am getting the hang of it now and from day five it was pretty easy. Am going to do the 100% plan for three weeks ala The Rave Diet and then start adding little things like smoked tofu and ready made soups (mainly fresh ingredients but they have stock with salt and oil) so won't have a lot of those they'll fall into my 10% anything. :

HI you guys, I actually didn't end up following the plan when I originally posted, but have decided to start today. lori how did it go for you? Are you still following the program? Gypsy can you PM me with the name of the other forum? I'd be interested in checking out what other people's experiences are thanks.

Didn't last on it. I think I was too strict for me. Trying to do too much at once - am now forgetting about the salt and comdiments thing and focusing on the rest. I'm following a sort of mcdougall-fuhrman plan. Its actually more like a super-strict McDougall than a Fuhrman though I am keeping on board a lot of the info from Eat To Live and making sure I get my 'beans and greens' every single day. But the rest of it is more mcdougall's maximum weight loss plan. Basically very very low fat (no nuts/seeds/avo/oils other than 1tbsp of flax) and no refined carbs at all - am filling up on stuff I forgot about like brown rice, unhulled barley, wheat kernels, millet, quinoa and of course fruit and veg. So far so good. When I reach my goal I'd like to start swaying it more in the direction of Fuhrman by cutting down some of the whole grains in favour of avocado/olives/nuts.
