Hope all had a good weekend ... we had a fun visit with our son and DIL ... right now it is S-N-O-W-I-N-G! We have just a couple inches on the ground but it is still coming down. It really does look pretty. Our place is in the middle of the woods surrounded by trees trees and trees and it is so beautiful when it snows.
Well .. I hope we have a "chatty" week here ... Looking for Slyvia, Sharon and our other new members - Connie and Shaun - where did you go?
I'll check in later ... have to get dressed and we have a few "chores" to go take care of.

I thought I would sneak in early this morning and be the BRAT of the week. However, it looks like you are the BIGGEST BRAT of all, CJ. :(
This weekend was great. We finally had a chance to take DS (and my mom) out for their birthday dinners. They share the same birthday... My mom is in the first stages of dimentia, so I had been calling her all week to make sure that she knew that we were going to take her for dinner. I double checked on Saturday morning, to remind her, and she mentioned that someone had already called to ask her out that evening. :D Yes, it was me, so we set it up all over again. Then in the afternoon, she called to tell me that she wasn't feeling well, so wouldn't be coming. Sooooo, at 6:30 (the time we arranged to pick her up), she called to find out if we were coming yet. :D It is really sweet, but difficult to watch a parent age. My dad died when we were young and she was so strong and independent. Now is a different story when she needs the care a nurturing of a child.
Anyway, through the birthday weekend and, yes, I had a piiece of birthday cake, I only gained .4 pounds. That is remarkable, since I usually gain a couple on the weekends even when I am faithful to my eating program. It will be off by tonight - especially after what I am planning to eat today and the exercised I have planned.
Hopefully will hear from the specialist by tomorrow about the results of my biopsy. I have resigned myself to think that the results will be good and that I won't be rushing into anything major before Christmas.
We are trying to get our master bedroom renovated before Christmas. We are presently sleeping in one of our guest rooms - double bed and harder than heck - so it has not been completely pleasant. Although, it is next to the kitchen... :devil:
Hope everyone is having a great day and continues through the week. Congrats on the winnings CJ. I simply do not have the luck that you do. I have never won anything, let alone with the consistancy that you win. Hope you are well this week and enjoy the snow. It will be here for a while yet.

I am so glad a new week is here... did not get off to a good start last week...
but this is a new week and come **** or high water I am going to get through this week writing everything down.
My husband was out of town this weekend and when he came home he said he won a basket draw. Turned out to be a Weight Watchers basket full of their things.. measuring spoons, cookbooks, journal bag, ww bars, ww candy, and even 3 work out videos..
Now that is devine intervention. It got my motivation right back on track.
So.. going to keep at it.
How is everyone else doing with losing? What kind of plans ( diet) are you all following..
Care to share again your successes, how long you have been at it, what motivates you etc...
Could really use the inspiration right now..

You can do this...the WW basket proves that you should. Keep motivated, the weight will come off.
For me - I am on South Beach Diet. It isn't a low carb diet like Atkins, but I guess you could consider it a good carb diet. When I went for a medical last spring, the doctor suggested that I cut carbs and sugar from my diet and 'see what happens.' When I researched the low carb diets the three best recommended were Atkins, the Zone and South Beach Diet. I preferred the SBD because I felt it had more info on fats and carbs that I wanted to incorporate into my eating plan. By the way, when I went back to the dr. last September, he was amazed at the weight that I had lost and wanted to know how I had done it.
I was on WW about 3 years ago and found that, when I reached the weight that I am right now, I was constantly hungry. I found that I became obsessed with food to the point that I couldn't wait until meal/snack times. The other thing that I found cumbersome was writing everything down, realizing that I was out of points, then chastising myself for being so dumb...and missing a meal because I didn't have any point left.
This program is more suited to my lifestyle because I don't want to be logging everything I eat. I just know with this program what I can and can't eat, and have to take care with how it is prepared. I haven't experienced the same hunger as before, so it has been good to eat this way.
However, I also really feel that people should adopt the eating plan that suits them. I am not a big starch fan to start with, except for pasta. So, for me, it has not been a difficult transition. For others, who love their bread/potatoes/pasta/rice, etc., it is much more difficult. I just need to watch my fat and sugar intake. This is getting easier everyday.
How long have you been on WW? Do you find the support of the meetings good? Keep in touch.

Thanks for sharing Sweet Tooth, I tried atkins but found it hard.
I like ww because it lets me keep all the foods I usually have.
My problem is I have always eaten really healty...just too much.
WW helps me control the portions.
looking forward to today. Last night went to bed early to avoid the ketchen... reading a really good book.. Sue Townsend.. British author.. called " Number 10".
She was the Adrian Mole lady, but I didn't like that series.. I love her other works.. Rebuilding Coventry and The Queen and I.
really funny work.
She takes high up people and puts them in a commoner's life...
this latest is where the Prime Minister dresses in drag and goes out to find out what a commoner's life is like.
Well got to run.. have a counselling session waiting... If only I could help myself as I do others... I am trying.

Hello everyone, I want to thank CJ for the invite to your group. I haven't read alot of your messages yet so don't have alot to say, just that I 'm in a rut and need out. This last week has been great though, alot of exercising, and the eating is going well too. It will be nice to get to know you all, and help as much as I can. I will try to get my bio on the bio page. Will check in tomorrow.

I too am new, but that's all a part of getting help, reaching out.
I can relate to being in a rut. I was looking at my food journal and realize that the 50 page book has fits and starts going back to last november. This is telling me something... I have been a full year falling off and on the wagon...
I was feeling a bit bad about this and then I started thinking, while I have not been consistant with my diet... I have been consistant with my continued attempts at losing.
The positive side.
I am taking it one day at a time... I can't focus too much on the long term, Christmas eating etc. I find I get a little anxious that I will not be able to resist... Now I am thinking just one day at a time is all I have to get through.
and I got through yesterday....
It is really good to have this site to check in with.. I feel like it is giving me a much needed boost. Last night I was going to the kitchen, considering a snack and I thought of writing here today...
I thought.. no.. I am going to report that I kept my focus and it worked.
So keep writing... I a determined to lose this weight and I would love for you guys to succeed with me.

Hi ya all ... getting ready to get in the hot tub and thought I would come in and post first ...
WELCOME! ... glad you decided to come check us out .. hope you'll be happy here ... we are glad to have you aboard! I too know all about being in a rut ... I am slowly getting myself out of one too.
I tried WW at one time a few year back and it just didn't work for me ... I am currently trying to get myself back on my low-carb program .. not SB and not really Atkins ... kind of a mix between I guess. I was real strict with it last summer and did real well ... then went off it and boy, it is so hard to get back so disiplined once you go off. Like you, I'm taking it one day at a time and each day seems to get a little bit better ... one of these days (very soon I hope) I will actually go a full day OP! Almost made it today but broke down and at a cookie! Tomorrow is a new day! You seem to be doing good so keep up the good work! I like what you said about being consistant with the continued attempts at losing ... one of these days we will succeed!
Stay with us .. we need your inspiration! So sad to hear about your mother .. I know that must be hard for you. I hope you finally got to go for dinner tho!
Tomorrow nite we have been invited to a private re-opening dinner at the restaurant our daughter works at ... they had a fire couple months ago and they are finally re-opening for business Friday morning. But I had to go and buy a new pair of shoes to wear with my outfit cuz I have all my dressy shoes/boots packed and I forgot to bring them up here when we were downstate so all these beautiful shoes I have are all at the house downstate. I don't think velvet pants will look good with gym shoes or clogs ... so grrrrrrrrrr .... had to buy new ones! Every shoe I liked I couldn't find in my size - but finally, I found a pair I liked and found my size but I sure had to "dig" to find them so I'm set to go now.
I almost made it thru the whole day without bad carbs but surcombed to a oatmeal/raisin cookie (big one) ... oh well ... tomorrow is another day!
Well ... I'm off for a soak in the hot tub! Talk to ya tomorrow!

I have been doing so great this week on staying op and exercising. My plan is kind of like yours cj. I too have done Atkins and Sugar Busters. I am doing my own thing with both plans put into one. I love my fruit, so I will have an apple or orange or whatever when I first get up, then some eggs or oatmeal, club salad for lunch w/ff italian, and for supper it's meat, yam or brown rice & veggie. If I get the munchies, I have fresh veggie s w/ ranch. or a piece of fruit. It really seems to be working well. Just hope to keep at it. It will be easier now, I quit my job yesterday, I was a working kitchen manager. Around every fattening and deep fried thing imaginable. It was to easy to grab one french frie or onion ring. So i'll have more time to post here. I will have to go job searching soon. Well enough about me, hope you are having an op day...

I have been under the weather this week, which means less exercise but I am trying to drink a lot of water. No school for me or my kids today, but they were both helpful with a big de-cluttering project and then we ran a bunch of errands together.
I am in a pretty good groove with exercise and have found several aerobics/strength classes that I like at the Y. I generally can fit one in, do a quick shower and be at work on time (I start teaching around 11 a.m.)
WW has been a great program for me, mostly because my meeting leader is excellent. I personally like the tracking because it helps me realize how important portion control is, and keep a handle on exactly what I am eating. I am 2 pounds away from Lifetime status. My goal is to get there by the end of this month.

I was off yesterday and still haven't set up my computer at home ( will be one year Dec since I moved). I have to tackle it soon, I don't know why I hate setting up techy stuff...
CJ... I like your motto " tomorrow is another day" and that way we keep our hopes for being slim ever present.

It is excellent that you identified your work as a major contributor to your setbacks with eating... oftentimes when we change one aspect of our lives ( dieting) it causes us to see how other things in our lives are also contributing to the problem...

Well, had a great day yesterday at home. Drank the water and stayed to my points. I am finding it helpful to write down the night before for the next day...kinda keeps me to the list. I know this is strick but I need to get more disiplined with the weight loss right now.
My clothes are starting to loosen up a bit but still haven't weighed. Will wait until Monday.
I don't know about anyone else, but I hate the scales. I had an unhealthy obsession with weighing myself everyday, and this would set my mood for the entire day.
When I moved I left the scales in the boxes in storage and now only weigh myself at the wellness room at work once a week.
Last night I made a large pot of veggie soup and bottled it in 1 quart bottles so now I have some on hand for quick lunches and times I feel hungry.
I must say, I haven't been feeling the hunger too much...must be the first week back high... this time I am not going to lose it.
Good to have all of you to write to, it really feels like I did when I attended my meetings...

I agree about frequent weighing being a problem. In fact, it's something I find kind of short-sighted at WW--I have improved my overall health, increased my exercise, improved some eating habits but all that gets assessed is the number on the scale. Yes, if all those things are in line I should be losing/maintaining, but we all know that isn't always how it works!
What is working very well for me right now: eating a much larger lunch at work that I used to (generally a Trader Joe's frozen entree, worth about 7-8 points, includes a veg. serving). After school, I am not hungry at all and can easily last until dinner.
I'd be interested to know which WW boards on 3FC you like. I checked out a couple, couldn't find ones that resonated with me. Your recommendation might help.

Good Morning Everyone;
Not sure of the rules with new posts and stuff... will continue on with this one...
I am eager this morning to let everyone know I lost 4lbs last week...
I am excited not as much about the weight loss as I am about being back on the level.
I always feel more in control when I am eating right and paying attention.
I am finding that writing here is helping me a lot. I had two birthday celebrations over the weekend and I managed to stay on track.
Well this is a new week and I need the help to keep focused. I know, I sound like the cheerleader but we need to keep motivated.
I was thinking this weekend, rather than thinking about losing 71 pounds, I will break it into months. I need to lose 6 pounds a month. As long as I lose that much each month, I will reach my goal by my next birthday.
I gave myself the birthday gift of losing the weight.
I must sound like I am flying off ... but I feel good and am looking forward to this next week and the weight I hope to lose.
I looked at the WW sites and found the recipe sites good, they also have a weekly weigh in site.
