Good morning, Chickies~~ :coffee:

I'm actually sitting here drinking sf hot cocoa this morning. It's cold out and it sounded yummy. :D

Didn't get on the computer much this weekend. Gave my poor eyes a break. Vision is almost back to normal. At least I won't be a menace on the road going to and from work   Not that blind I would be any worse than 99% of the drivers here in Atlanta.

Weight-wise, I'm actually up a pound :o Didn't eat wonderfully well this weekend, and it seems that I've become sodium sensitive, which I've never been, so now, I must watch very carefully how much salt things contain. Ugh! What a PITA. I think this is water weight. So, today I will be a very, very good little Beach Chick and have a big salad with olive oil and vinegar for lunch.

Ok, time to get ready for work.

You chicks have a great day on the Beach!

I was worried about your eyes over the weekend. Glad to hear they are better. :dizzy:

Hello Chickies, good morning.

I managed to stay on-plan over the weekend even though DH brought non-OP stuff into my line of sight! I looked the other way, but did catch my neck craning a few times - LOL. I made the mock potato salad with cauliflower and kept that around for a 'munchie.' It worked out pretty well since its tastes good either warm or cold and kept me from straying. Tonight I'm going to make some red pepper soup.

Mamacita - that sf hot cocoa sounds good right about now. yu,m

Have a great OP day, and stay focused.

Good Morning!
Glad to hear your eyes are doin better Mamacita! Hopefully it will be an uneventful week and no stress! Yea I know the chances are slim to none but a girl can dream! teehee
Good Morning Sandbeachgirl! I hope you have a good day.
Me... Well a guy is coming to look at our dishwasher that keeps spitting water out everywhere. I am hoping he say's he needs to be replaced! It is old and does not work worth a flip. We have a homeowners warranty with the house so it is covered but it is only for what we already have which is the cheapest one. The lady said they do options for options I told her we only have 1 and that is to turn it on! haha I will ask the guy about paying for an upgrade and hope they carry one I want. Looking forward to another great week on the beach. My Mom is so funny now when we were shopping Sat. she was telling the dressing room clerk all about SBD and how much weight I had lost and how much she had lost in just a short time and on and on. It was so funny hearing her brag on this WOE! But I was so glad to hear how excited she is about it. Well I better go I can't believe how long I have been goin on and on. I forgot it's monday which is check day! Check on y'all chicks later. Have a good day all!

11-08-2004, 08:32 AM
Good Morning Abroad! You posted while I was writing a book! haha Glad you stayed away from evil! haha

11-08-2004, 08:44 AM
Good Monday morning, Beachies! I've already eated a vegetable - V8 with breakfast - and have my knee support on ready to walk down for the newspaper with Miss Lucy.

Gail comes this morning and most of the tidying is done. I'm sure she'll concentrate on the kitchen floor this morning as the way the painters cleaned up will not meet her high standards!

I'm smack dab in the middle of rehearsal horror show week so don't worry if I'm not around much. I still don't know my lines but AM getting better - slowly. The male lead still has to have script in hand! Oy!

I'm hoping to get some more bulbs planted today. Wish me luck!

Have a good day!

Good morning all

Official 1 week weigh-in this morn - 6 lbs down -
Not bad - I didn't cheat at all - unless you count the one macaroni I ate while testing for doneness (was making DS KD) I completely forgot - oh well it was only one.

Was going to incorporate exercise into my week by way of my recumbent bike each morning - I actually got up 10 mins early this morning - got on the bike only to realize that the battery is dead - I can still do the bike but the timer/KM/cal counter doesn't work - I did a few mins anyway and will have to change the battery tonight.

Made a batch of taco soup for my lunches this week - and quiche muffins for breakfasts. Cut and bagged up all my veggies too.

I'm doing pretty good with this WOE. No cravings really (and I still have a housefull of halloween chocolate), but I do catch myself sometimes reaching for things out of habit - giving DS crackers etc.. and starting to grab one or ten for myself - but other than the macaroni - I have caught myself each time - Whew :)

I have been doing well with the water too - up to about 80 ozs per day - I have to make myself stop drinking at about 7pm though - as I have been getting up 3-4 times each night to pee and feel REALLY tired in the morning.

And to all you ladies - thanks so much for being here so early in the morning - it really does help to have someone else in the same boat to talk to - DH just nodding and saying "uh huh" is not really motivating

Morning all,

Not much going on here. Looking forward to my trip on Thursday. Bamie, we bought a new dishwasher yesterday. It's being delivered a week from today, since I'll be home. It cost a fortune but I'm hoping we'll have better luck. The one that come with our house is a piece of junk.

Been OP over the weekend. Slipped into Phase 1.5 yesterday. I'm thinking of doing a full blown Phase 1 once I'm back. I'm going to wait and see what the scale says when I get back.

Have a great day everyone!

Good morning, girls!

Mamacita... I'm so glad you're doing better... I was so worried about you! :grouphug:

Must run... I'm heading off to see my psychiatrist.
Have a wonderful day... love and hugs to all...

Under a palm tree... Ours is junk as well. I'm looking to spend about 500 on one. My other one was a maytag top of the line and I want another one! DH has pulled things from this one that were not clean and agrees with gettin another one like we had. Big shocker there cause he hates to spend! teehee! I hope this one works out for you!
Good Morning Ellis!

Morning all!

Sorry I missed everyone this weekend! I managed to stay pretty much OP but I did have some red wine :hat: on Saturday night and I brought my own munchies (pistachios) so i would stay OP but I'm sure I ate too many. I had a steak salad for dinner with oil and vinegar.

I picked up the Japanese noodles and I'm going to try them with spagetti sauce tonight! I'll keep everyone posted. It lists 3 carbs and 2 of them are fiber. Hope they taste good. They look like angel hair pasta.

Hope everyone has an OP kind of day!

Hi everyone,

It has gotten cold here in NYC. It is a nice change.

I have not lost weight but today the belt is one notch tighter. I am still loosing inches but not weight. Ugh. I got up 45 minutes early today and did yoga. I feel great. Sunday I ran the park loop (3.4 miles) in 39 min and 45 sec. This is such an improvemnt for me. My next goal is under 35 minutes.

11-08-2004, 10:25 AM
Good monring all! Well, i was encouraged to learn (when I finally got up the nerve to get on the scale) I was only up one pound from the record-long trip to las Vegas -- woo hoo! I did workout twice while I was there, and all of the walking must have helped. So, I went to Curves on Sat. and I am packed to go again at lunch.

Hope everyone has a great OP day!!!!

:) lauren

I'm back from my camping trip. I had a wonderful time! I was cold on Friday night (probably upper 30's) but it warmed into the 80's on Saturday and wasn't too bad on Saturday night (maybe mid 40's). I did pretty good on eating during the trip although I ate more WW tortillas than normal. Had lots of veggies to snack on and OP food for meals. I did eat Triscuits which are higher in salt than I usually get and I didn't drink as much water as normal. I also had two bites of cobbler and we stopped for Mexican on the drive home. I was doing good until the Mexican food. Oh, well, I am up 1 1/2 this morning but I'm sure some of it is water. I've got a great set of meals planned for this week so I'm sure I'll lose it soon.

I did get lots of hiking in. Brian and I would get up early as the sun was just coming up and go exploring the trails. I took pictures of the sun coming up over the lake too. I also ended up teaching several sessions of volleyball. I haven't played in years but I am still a strong server. Then parents had to participate in the sack races and the egg toss. At least our egg broke on the ground rather than all over me! We got to visit with lots of friends and had a pretty relaxed weekend. Only bad part was that my face and neck are badly sunburned. By the time I remembered sunscreen it was too late. :(

Barb.. Sounds like you and DS had a good time! I'm sure you could tell a big difference in your weight loss with those kinds of activities. You are doin great and I'm sure it is water weight as well. Just traveling makes me retain. You are an inspiration! I bet your son is very proud of you!
Goldie...Glad to have ya back! We've missed you!
CAC... I'm with you on no pounds but things are looser! I'll take it any way I can get it! haha
Anchor... Your doin great! Let us know about them there noodles! (A lil real southern talk fur ya!) haha

Bamie - I'm embarrased to admit this but we spent $550 for the dishwasher plus another 100 for the 5 year warranty.

Lauren- We share the same anniversary except I was married in 98.

Barb way to go on the trip. Sounds like you had a great time. I bet you're just retaining water from the mexican food.

11-08-2004, 01:54 PM
Hey don't be embarrased be proud cause you probably have the cleanest dishes around! hahaha No new one here! Repair man says it is the drain line not the dishwasher! UGH! I was hoping! So we are still saving and will probably get one in Jan. after Christmas. But DH does not believe in buyin the warranties! I always did when I was single but now if he don't want to fine if it breaks he'll fix it or buy a new one! (again) haha Although I have to admit I was surprised when we bought our new van last year that he did get the 100,000 mi. warranty! We had an electric seat go out on the one before and it cost 500 hundred bucks just for the motor and this has the electric doors so he wanted everything covered this time! teehee!

Good morning everyone :coffee:

We just put in a new dishwasher this year and I love it. A Maytag. We replaced a Bosch which I never was happy with, it must have been a lemon because I talked to several people who love theirs. Next for us is a gas range.

Got back from Vegas last Tues. night, spent a couple of days catching up on bookwork at the restaurant, then came down with the flu that everyone around here has had, on Sat. my uncle passed away so now this week will be traveling again for his funeral. He had lung cancer so this was not unexpected, I am just glad he passed away before it got too painful for him.

My son who has been staying with us (and his wife and two children) bought a manufactured home and it was supposed to be delivered while we were gone but got totalled on the trip here. Now they are back at square one because it was a really good deal on a used one and since the pad and fence has already been done they have to find one close to the same size so he has been really stressed. I told him not to worry about it it will happen. BUT...looks like my house will be full for the holidays rather than emptier.

I am back on Phase I (day 3) as I didn't make the best choices I could have in Vegas. Not that they didn't have the right foods I just didn't make the right choices. Then I thought about whether I want to do this WOL or not. It certainly is in my greatest good to do this and I feel great when I am doing it so why does the bad food sound so good when it calls my name. I know the cravings will get better in a day or two but it is tough. The detox should be enough to keep us on the straight and narrow girls.

And :blah: :blah: :blah: she goes.

Good morning everyone. It is really getting hard to get in here early enough to post with the first ones up. However, I am up. I should remember to get in here when I am lying awake in bed in the middle of the night. Last night it was 1:30 when I woke up and couldn't get back to sleep until it was really time to get up. I hate those days and they seem to be all too often right now.

Mama - Glad to hear that your eyes are better. Did you get to the doctor to 'see' about them? Have a good day at work. You will lose that pound quickly by staying OP. Take care.

A broad - Glad to hear that you were able to stay OP even with the tempting things that DH had this weekend. WTG. It will get easier to refuse...the more you tell yourself that you feel better without, the easier is becomes. Your ploy to keep OP foods handy for times like that is wise. That way, you don't feel deprived because you are not snacking. Keep it up.

Bamiegurl - WTG on the diet. It is great to hear people who are excited about the program. I think the more excited about this WOE you are, the more committment you develop to stick with it. WTG for you both. I love Maytag products. We have almost everything from that company. The machines are so easy to fix for do-it-youselfers and the Maytag shop here in the city is really good at telling people how to fix their own. Of course, they usually get the parts sales, but even if they don't, they are so helpful.

Ruth - Stick with the program. You can do it. Thinking of you this week with the final, stressful rehearsals yet to come. Take care of yourself and don't let it get too much of you.

Bups - WTG on the eating program. You are doing so well. It will take a while for you to get out of the habit of reaching for things that you are so accustomed to eating. But, since you are not craving anything, the habit will soon disappear. The water will really help in keeping everything working well. Keep up the great work.

Palm - Glad to see you popping in again. Hope the dishwasher works wonders. I am so dependent on one, I don't know what I would do if I didn't have it...OK, I know the dishes would be piled up until we didn't have anything more to eat on.

Ellis - Hi. Hope everything is going well. Have a good day.

Anchor - WTG with staying OP. Don't worry about eating too many snacks. I always look at it from the perspective that it could be much worse - you could have consumed off program snacks. A few too many OP snacks may halt the weight loss a bit, but it won't interfere with your blood chemistry. Keep it up.

cac - Don't worry about the weight loss. You know in the big scheme of things that you are losing, but probably adding some weight with the muscle that you are developing. You inspire me - running is something that I just don't have the endurance to do, but admire those who do. WTG.

Lauren - One pound is nothing. You did a great job in a very difficult environment. You even got the exercise in. WTG, gitl. You will have that extra pound off in no time. By th way, I finally went out and bought a small scale that I can take with me when we travel. DH thinks I'm crazy, but....

Me - I had a really busy and hectic weekend. We did get the windows finished in the master bedroom (isn't it funny that I take some credit for what DH did :D ). Oh well, that's part of married - 50/50. I am still trying to clean out the junk that DS and his girlfriend have left in their wake. I am slowly gathering it up and placing it in one part of the house so that I can get my own domain in order.

We are also dealing with settling stuff in our condo in Calgary. We will need to go there this weekend again and finalize some things before renting it out. That should be the end of that problem, except to have someone else pay for the thing before we retire. ;)

Went to church yesterday and, it seems, the sermon was written just for me. We have been doing a series on the Fruits of the Spirit. Well yesterday was on self control. Yeah, I know, it is a problem for all of us, but after reading the section on Phase 3, I was wondering how I would control myself when Phase 3 really gives you free reign to eat what you would like. I know you are supposed to continue to make good choices, but I was just wondering how I would control myself with the ability to make good choices.

Anyway, I thought the action plan that was given would be good for all of us to take a look at and applies to weight loss as much as anything. I have paraphrased parts to be applicable.

1. Admit the problem.
2. Find out about the problem.
3. Surround yourself with friends that can support you.
4. Avoid the things that tempt you.
5. Welcome gracious correction.
6. Practice good habits.

As I considered the action plan, I knew that it is something that I need to keep in mind as I continue with this eating plan. Although I have prepared myself mentally to realize that this is the way that I eat now, I was having some moments of fear that I would lapse.

Hope everyone has a great day. Stay OP.

11-08-2004, 04:14 PM
Ugh >.< I had nothing at work to eat and no cash, so my friend offered to get something for me. All they had was sandwiches, gyros and pasta. So I chose some chicken parmesan with pasta. Had just a bit of the noodles, and only half the chicken. I feel completely sick now, and my stomach is gurgling non-stop. Could it be my body revolting from the crappy carbs? Or what? I wanna go back in time and change my mind please!

Weekend was okay - Lots of yardwork.

This weeks goal. Get back to the gym you lazy slacker!

11-08-2004, 04:15 PM
Bunna... So sorry for your loss. Even when it is expected I know it can be difficult. Be safe traveling. Real bummer about your DS's new home. Just may be one of those Blessings in disguise!
Sweet Tooth... That is so good! The 6 step program! teehee Oh don't worry I take credit for DH's stuff all the time as he does with me also! When we lived in Tn. we redid our kitchen and I wanted a shelf on the back wall and for it to come up both walls about 8-10 inches. He was on and on about how dumb it would look and what was I thinkin (he has no vision!) but against his better judgement he would do it for me! (oh thank you) Then after it was done and looked so good and everyone talked about how it just really brought it together it was yea WE thought that would look real good in here! I told him I didn't have a mouse in my pocket where did he get we from! haha So take all the credit you want I don't mind! hahaha The house we just sold had all Maytag appliances in it. That's why I want another one of their dishwashers cause I know I like them. Boy I have had some long posts today! I have been really bored today. My knee is actin up so I have been takin it easy.

11-08-2004, 04:17 PM
lilwolfe.. We were postin at the same time. If only we could go back and change our minds! Yes it could be the food especially if they use MSG in it! Feel better soon!

I cheated.

Not a huge huge huge cheat. But a big cheat. I threw a suprise party on Saturday and I was good all day and planned to be good at the party but I wasn't. I ate less than I normally would but more than I should have.

Sunday, I cheated some more with leftover REAL Coke and some bread. Then, today I had a slice of carrot cake. I know I'm going out to dinner tonight so I should have been better. :(

I haven't gotten on the scale yet. Sigh.

hey everyone!

It is sooooooo cold....but i LOVE it....This is my favorite time of the year....Just finished watching an episode of friends....i love that is going well....i'm still searching for that one good job though.....As far losing weight....well i gained 2lbs but i'm working on that....(i think i had one too many nuts and not enough veggies) So I'm being strict on myself again and have put a rubber band around my wrist so that everytime i reach for something i shouldn't i snap the rubber seems to manager at work tries to tempt me with stuff...which isn't very nice....but i have will are you ladies doing? I hope you're all doing well!! Keep up the great work you guys!!!

I confess, today is my birthday and I cheated at dinner. I had 4 bites of a chocolate thunder down under at the Outback. It was so good. I didn't plan it which I'm not exactly happy about but I'm not feeling terribly guilty either. I'm also trying to avoid nuts and caffeine totally and I have two diet cokes today. I'm counting this as my wildcard. My counselor thinks I should allow myself the option of one per week. I don't think I'd go as far as a dessert like this but maybe a serving of nuts or no sugar added ice cream or something like that. Anyway I wanted to share. Normally I'd have eaten the whole darn dessert. I'm glad I didn't and even happier than I had no desire to eat more.

Hope you're all having a great night!

11-08-2004, 11:07 PM
Happy Birthday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well be proud of yourself for stopin after 4 bites! You could have ate the whole thing! As I like to say just "Stay In It!" teehee
