Good Morning All !! :coffee:
Hope everyone had a good weekend! Thought I'd get us started weighing this morning.
--As for me, well, I was hoping to be in ONEderlad this morning, but that last pesky pound is hanging on for dear life. I weighed in at 200, for a loss of 1 pound this week. I really need to kick things up a notch this week! I feel like if I can finally get over that hump, I'll be inspired to work really hard to keep going. I'll be there by next Monday if it kills me! :dizzy:

How did you all do??

Down 2 to 229. Not bad, but I was hoping for more, as I was a full two pounds lighter yesterday (?). Ahh, the mysteries of water weight.

Hello, everyone! First of all, congratulations to both Amy Jo and Jennifer on your losses -- the only thing I can safely predict about any loss is that I wish it had been more! :lol: I think you're both doing SO well, and the key is that you're both steadily progressing towards your goals. Seriously, great jobs, you guys!

As for me, well that's another story altogether. I'd let my calories slip a little too high upwards, thinking that with all my exercise it would be ok, but you know, that was just not the case! I was showing minimal losses (like a pound a week -- something, but not what it could have been if I'd been putting in full effort.) so I was down to 216, just a pound away from my mini-goal. THEN I went away for a 3-day weekend and, despite great intentions to remain almost entirely on plan, I did just exactly the opposite and went OFF! I'm not going to burst into full-blown Food Porn (capital F, capital P) here, but suffice to say I made the off-plan choice most of the time :o . After that :devil: free-for-all, I returned to the numbers 2 - 2 - 1 screaming up at me from the scale. I'm sure a lot of it is water, but surely some of it is actual fat gain. Sigh. So I'm back in the saddle BIGTIME once again....I'm sending myself to On-Plan Bootcamp for 2 weeks. Nothing off-plan for 2 weeks. And exercise to the NELIE-degree! :lol: (Respectful nod to Nelie here. ;) ) I know that with some concerted effort, I'll be back to 216 in no time, and then I'll progress from there. I keep trying to tell myself all the stuff I'd say to any of you in this position, but beating myself up aside, it's still just going to boil down to just knuckling under and looking on the bright side.

So I'll pray to your scale God if you'll pray to mine, ok? ;) Here's to everyone having a great week. :)

I wouldn't worry about the weekend weight gain, Sarah. As you said, most of its water weight that'll be shed in no time after getting back to business. There's a lot of truth to the "quickly gained, quickly lost" saying. ;)

Whoa Nelie! 5lbs. is a very satisfying loss - you're well on your way to your new Christmas goal. Amy-Jo..you're so close to both "onederland" and 50lb. total loss, I bet you can taste it (umm, poor choice of words?) How exciting that you're likely to be at both by this time next week! Jennifer, 2lbs. is a significant amount (think about 2lbs. of butter) and it must give you a psychological boost to have dropped below the 230s and be in a new "decade". :)

I'm not counting my 3lb. loss this week because its not due to diligent dieting or excessive exercise - I simply can't eat. Dental weenie I may be, but I had to phone the oral surgeon this morning and request, nay BEG, for my appointment to be moved up (its to the point where I'm sneaking my darling's prescription painkillers). The kindly dr. has agreed to fit me in at 8 a.m. tomorrow morning (I think the sobbing helped). :(

You all are doing great. Keep up the good work. Sarah I know it's hard not to beat yourself up but hey this kind of stuff happens so just get back at it. I have had two gains during my journey this time but I have still lost lots more. So look at the over all picture and just keep on going.

I lost 3 lbs! That's huge for me! Lately I'm lucky to lose one pound in a week. I am so excited!

Amy Jo - great job! You will definitely be in ONEderland next week! Congrats on the losses Jennifer and Nelie. Sarah - Don't worry about the weekend weight. It will come off in no time. Hang in there Jillegal. I hope you feel better soon. Keep up the good work everyone!

I'm down 2 so that's 202! I'm getting so excited about ONEDERLAND!!! Amy Jo, I'm right behind you - lead me to the promised land (sorry just getting over excited.) This week I'm eating out three times so I'm being as carefull as I can and stepping up on the exercise front. LETS DO THIS! LETS CROSS THE LINE!!!!!

OK I could not wait to weigh myself I had to check my progress. I am back down to 358 and I still have almost 2 full weeks to make my goal of 350 by Oct 31st. So I have wiped out my recent gain and am back in gear to continue. I am still only going to record my weight once a month so nothing is official until next week when I weigh in. I was going to weigh on Wednesday because we are going to a party on Thursday but I think I should stay on plan for the party. I need to learn how to do that better. So I will weigh for October on the 29th.

I'm back...I was gone for a bit again. I haven't been following a plan again but I stepped on the scale this morning and showed a 3 lb loss from last week so here are my new totals:

Wow! You guys are doing terriffic! I am so proud!! And Sarah, my friend it is A-OK. Remember my vacation?? 6 lb gain?? EEEK... It came right off the next week and so will yours. I believe that mixing up or switching things around is good to keep the body guessing. That's what I say. Thats also what I said after I ate a strawberry cheesecake blizzard tonight too!! (I was actually still within my calories for the day believe it or not!). I'll not do that again for awhile. I feel like crap when I go too far of the beaten path!

I didn't weigh in. I wasn't near a scale.. Well, I was but I forgot to weigh myself. I am in such a tizzy at this point trying to get everything together for this upcoming weekned.. I feel great though and my first 2 abs have appeared! WOW! I still have a way to go but I'm telling you the smallest things these days!!

Congratulations to all of you. Amy Jo, Nelie, Jennifer, Lori and you miss Annie Rose... it's all that "physical" activity with the new guy isn't it!! hee hee

Jill-- 3 lbs is great you big weenie!! lol I hope your procedure goes as smooth as possible for you!! You'll be great!!

Sarah, yeppers, it is A-OK and I know you already know that. Just reiterating it to you as you have done to me through the many times I have gone off the beaten path.

Congrats everyone! You are all doing so great :) So I was feeling a little down this morning (3.5 hours of sleep between 2 9 hour shifts.. ick), so I decided to get on my scale.. I figured since i had such a crappy weigh in on Friday I might as well depress myself some more! Well I am down 1 pound since Friday, but thats not my official weigh in. Oct 31st is arriving soon, and I still have 6 pounds to go to get to my mini goal... 6 pounds in 2 weeks seems extreme for me.. but I'm back to cutting out bread/pasta/wheat again (health reasons, not weight loss, thats just a nice perk!).. so anything is possible!

I said I wasn't going to weigh in until Halloween.. but the scale kept looking at me :lol:. I'm down to 294, however, I'm not really counting anything until 10/31.

Actually, I'm rather disappointed.. I figured I'd be down a bit more than 4 pounds in 3 weeks. I don't really see any difference in my clothes or anything either. I don't expect to make my Halloween goal. I'm still pushing along, but getting discouraged. I don't know what more I can do.

My cals are around 1200 a day, I track everything I eat, exercise when I can, and I have been great about sticking to plan, even when I have been craving heavily. I'm also drinking a minimum of 67 oz. of water a day, usually more. Seems my body is fighting me as hard as it can. :(

Any ideas for a "jump start" to get the scale moving?

Hi Heather.. nice to meet you!
It looks like you are just starting out.. great! This is just my opinion.. but I would up your calories. Your body may not want to let go of the fat - it may think you are starving yourself. If you can - write a typical menu of what you *used* to eat before starting your diet - then figure out the calories you used to intake. If you are anything like me, you were probably eating almost double the calories that you are now.
I have read (and believe) that if you cut out 3500 calories out of your diet per week (only 500 per day) you will lose 1 lb a week (more when you first start - because of the excess water) If you exercise you cut out even less.

Good Luck to you - don't be disaapointed.. this is very much a journey. I know it sucks when you want to see results TODAY! (if I do good one day on my diet I ask - am I done yet? :lol: ) You might not see results in your clothes until you've lost about 10 -15 lbs - depending how tight they were to start.

You are doing great!!!! Just give yourself a bit of slack ;)

Hey Heather! Are you doing South Beach? Because I'm wondering about your protein intake if you are only having 1200 calories a day, maybe try eating some almonds, and I always take calcium which seems to help me a bit. 1200 seems a tiny bit low if you are doing SBD, and I agree with Dana, maybe up your calories a bit. If you are having too little your body goes into starvation mode.. etc.. Keep up the good work though! I know I lasted about 48 hours with cutting out coffee, sugar AND wheat, it hurt too much hehe. Congrats :)

Thanks for your responses. I'm scared to do it, but I will try to up my calories. Off the top of my head, I'd say I probably used to eat close to 3000 cals a day.. a lot of that was soda. Fitday claims (at sedendary) I burn about 2500 cals a day.

It's going to be hard to up the calories. I find most of the time I don't even want to eat anymore.. unless I see something I used to love :lol:. I do take in a good amount of protein considering my portions (they aren't big). I think I'll try increasing my snacks to mini-meals and see what happens.

Heather, I'm really sorry you're having a disappointing start. Sounds like you're making some important behavioral changes, though, that are sure to improve your health over the longterm as long as you stick with them. I know you use Fitday, but how do you identify your quantities? Do you measure? Is there any way any extra or hidden calories could be sneaking in anywhere? I agree that 1200 calories over the LONGTERM at this point in your loss is too low a level; however, it seems to me that you would have lost a bit more over the 4 weeks if your calories were truly at that level, provided there's no medical condition of which you're unaware. Hi Sarah,

I don't usually measure, I tend to have a good eye for quantity after years of cooking, so, I would guess I could be off maybe 200 cals a day in either direction at the absolute most. I did consume some extra protien tonight for a few more cals.

As for medical conditions.. I have high bp (weight related) and take a pill for it. I also have pcos, though, thankfully I've been blessed with very few symptoms of it over the years. Maybe this is making it come off slower? I'm not really sure.

I'm thinking the whole "golden opportunity" theory is true and it's just going to take me longer to get my body going again.

I *do* have to take my statement back about clothes not fitting differently. I haven't noticed any difference in my pants (maybe because I wear them like second skin :lol:), and I've always worn my tops huge.. but tonight it was freezing out and I couldn't find my fleece jacket. Hubby pulled out a suede coat I got on clearance last spring and said "well wear this one".. I couldn't fit into it when I bought it (at 280 pounds), and tonight it fits, comfortably. So, I must be losing inches up top and I just don't see it. I really need to get a soft measuring tape.

well, i went home for a four day weekend and you know the drill. no food porn discussed here, but WOW WAS I BAD. plus, no gym there, so no working out.
I think I'm cough226nowcough but on top of my horrendous food choices, its that lovely TOM so I'm hoping to be back down to something resembling the low 220s by next week.
if only i could drag my lard behind to the gym now, but it's been a long day.

congrats this weekend, everyone. Sarah, don't worry about that water weight. it'll be gone in no time.

Heather - PCOS could definitely be why you are losing weight slowly.. from what I understand people with it have a really hard time losing weight. I once thought I had it, but.. I have no idea anymore! Definitely increase your protein intake, which will help out a lot, and have some almonds :) (do I say that too much?) Take some measurements.. it'll help you judge better. I say this, but I haven't measured in a LONG time.. do as I say, not as I do! ;) Keep up the good work, that PCOS might be a pain in the rear, especially with the weight loss thing. Are you on the pill? Because that has been heard to help people lose weight with PCOS...

Dana - I'm sure a lot of your weight is water weight.. so once you get back on track it'll all come off :) I love trips home, I think it's worth the extra weight... mmm.. my grandma's cooking...

1st of all congrats to all on their losses! My internet has been very unstable so I haven't been able to get online and get inspired. I know I haven't been my best. You know I knew you guys helpped me to stay inspired but I never knew how much til I wasn't able to get online. I'm hoping things will be back to normal soon. Til then I'm not going to weight myself. I'm going to try my best to stay on plan.
Sarah - I know that you can achieve your goal and don't let this setback bother you in the least. Soon you'll be back 100+% and the fat will be melting off.

The only pill I can take because of my bp is the "mini-pill".. progestin based, rather than estrogen. Makes me horrid to live with and sick all the time.. so, that's not an option :( . I won't do that to poor DH again lol.

I guess I'm just going to have to keep playing around with my food and be patient until I discover what works best for me. Until then, as long as it keeps going down.. even if it's terribly slow.. at least it's going down. We'll see what happens for Halloween, maybe I'll get a whooosh.

i'm down 1 pound even this week. i just can't do the once a month thing. the scale yells at me each time i pass it. i was so hoping to hit the 20 pound mark this week but there is always next week!

Im finding I can't do the once a month thing either. Since I weighed on Monday this week and since they say the scales are 5 lbs heavy at work. Next week I'm going to my doctors office on friday and I hope to be able to weigh on a regular scale again.

Happy to report a small gain of only...... drum roll.... 1.5 lbs in 4 weeks!!!

Also... VERY happy to report that today we had our ultra sound and we are having a BOY!!

Ok guys I had to walk to the back of the plant tonight so of course I had to weigh while I was back there. I'm down 5 more lbs from Monday. Now when I weighed Monday I had drank all my water so I'm sure I was lower than 358 on Monday. Anyway I am so happy. Next week I should be able to weigh on the doctors scale. I'm only 3 lbs away from 350 which is what doctors scales go up to.
