I can't believe it's October already! It even feels like it, cooler in the mornings, and a little overcast today. But the Halloween decorations are coming out in force!
Let's have a good week!

Not much new here, just a quiet Sunday-a couple of loads of wash to finish up, and a quick grocery shopping. I have boneless skinless chicken thighs for dinner- I bake them with a bread crumb and romano cheese topping, not many carbs. Then broccoli and sweet potato(MIL and I split one).
Last night we watched "On the Waterfront" which I have never seen. It was good- it was fun seeing some thing so old(1954) that was still a good story. we got it out of the library, so it was nice not to have to pay Blockbuster 4 or 5 dollars for one. I ended up getting DH his own library card for his birthday- he usually borrows mine and we are always passing it back and forth. He likes to take out books on tape and movies, now he can do it on his own. simple pleasures!
Food going reasonably well- I am super-stressed- and thought I'd be eating like a pig, but I've been keeping some "ok" foods around. Not really low carb, but yogurt, a crab dip with triscuits, cheese. I have to have something to snack on- but am eating small meals. I lost 3 lbs. total!
Kel, thanks for your suggestions about dealing with MIL here- you hit it right on the head-to find things I want to do OUT of the house. I am a homebody though, and miss just puttering around alone in my quiet house. but for now, I need to have some "away" time!
enough. time to move the wash along...
have a good one-

Hello! Been a week :o
Vegas was fun! I walked and walked and walked! It is so decieving how big all of the buildings are. DH did not do too well in the golf touney, but none the less we had fun together and it was great to be away from the kidletts. I did the coolest thing there. I went to a place that does indoor sky diving! It is a wind tunnel made with a turbo jet engine. It was amazing and I would do it again in a heartbeat, but I wouldn't skydive!

I am trying to be careful with food and make sure i do SOMTHING everyday. The last few days I have been able to go for a walk. The weather has been so noce and wonderful to get the fresh air.
Anyway enough about me. I have read. I hope that Hershey has her pups soon if not already, kel, I hope you get a second to smell the roses, and dottie, that might be a good thing for you too...get out and smell the roses :)

monday morning- up early and getting ready to leave for work...very sad hearing about Christopher Reeve's death. He was just 52, what a loss.
I am planning a good week- I have beentrying to get a painter to come paint the bathroom we renovated this summer, but he hasn't called back. It is a small job that I had planned to do myself, and I've decided to take Wednesday off and do it. I really want that out of the way. I am tired of looking at unfinished drywall! I am also having dinner with a friend on Friday night, that's something to look forward to.
Today will be busy, but I went in to the office on Saturday for a while, and got a lot of cleaning/organizing done, so I feel less overwhelmed. And food-wise, I am encouraged by the scale and plan to keep the momemtum going.
That's it for me...welcome back,L. That wind tunnel thing sounds scary, I'll look at the website later. I'll bet the walking gave you your workout at least! I've always thought Vegas would be a fun trip-
Hi Ruth, Kel, Leenie, others,
LINDA BC< WHERE ARE YOU!
everyone else, have a great day,

Morning Dottie...I hope it is a slow day ate work.
We have a long weekend so no school today. I am planning another walk today but we slept late so I need a little breakfast before I go out.
The colors on the trees are so nice, the reds and oranges are popping against the green and I fing it breathtaking every year.
The fair is still in town so I think we will see what the traffic looks like today before we go out. Getting out is not the problem but getting back in can be.
I was sad to to hear about Chris Reeve. I use to watch him ride his horse here at some of the big events. I remember being in my car hearing about the accsdent. He was a hard worker that never gave up. I need a little of that...ya know?
So good morning to the reat of the chicks, kel, Leen,Ruth, meowna,Linda BC, Debk....come post, say hello, let us know what you are up to and how you are doing...

Hi, ladies - Happy Monday!
Finally getting to feel like fall here - we had a bit of rain Saturday morning even.
Nothing much to report here. Kinda quiet weekend - we didn't get to the movies as Bry had a game friday night and then he went to the corn maze with his best friend Saturday afternoon/evening. Cody and I were going to go see Ladder 49 but lazed out instead. We may catch a movie after school this week as next weekend is full with Melis coming home for my birthday, ball games Saturday, lunch with my mom Sunday.
Sounds like you had a great time in Vegas, L! And, Dottie, glad you sound a bit better now. I do understand about liking to putter around in your own house - maybe you could have hubby take MIL out for a meal or something and just have the house to yourself for a couple hours once in a while?
Ok - better hit the showers. Semi holiday and not many people in be in the office so I'm taking advantage and moving slow this a.m. Have a great day all!

Happy Monday!
lots to look forward to this week!
Tomorrow is my second diet class and weigh in- so we'll see how the last week has been- I've been a good girl every day, no cheating
my mom flies down on Thursday (from Maine to visit me in NC) for the weekend. I live about an hour away from the Lowes speedway so that's where we'll be Saturday night. My fiance and his son are going with us too and everyone's VERY excited. watching races for a long time but never been to one in person.
sounds silly- but Chris found out what was wrong with our refrigerator- it had been leaking and accumulating down in the Crisper drawers and we had to clean it out every week, so I'm looking forward to going home tonight and having the refrigerator fixed (or a new one- which we've been talking about too, before we didn't know what the problem was)
AND... I broke 200 today! 199- 44 more to go!
Have a great week everyone!!

Welcome to ONEderland, Candice. L144S, you are certainly a braver woman than I am! LindaBC, put down that grandbaby and come in for a visit! Dottie, I sometimes give up on finding a workman and end up doing it myself. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't! Kel, you sound busy and happy surrounded by your chicks.
Well, I'm a grand***** again: Hershey has her six puppies on Friday morning with me as midwife! They are gorgeous and brings the total pups in Morna's house to 12! Lucy's pups are three weeks old today and adorable. They've had their eyes open for over a week and are toddling around exploring the puppy room. Lucy is doing a super SAHM act for her first litter. Hersh, of course, is a pro!
Sorry I've not been posting in here much. South Beach is keeping me busy and I'm also journalling which is time consuming. I'll try to do better.
It's a gorgeous blue, gold and red day here so I am going to take a dogless walk down for the paper and then cut back some more perennials. I have hundreds of bulbs to plant as well so had better get it in gear!
I hope everyone gets a chance to enjoy the gorgeous fall weather!

hey all-
I am posting from work, having a little quiet time to sit and think about what to do next! It is beautiful, cool and crisp...a walk sounds good, Ruth!
Hi Kandice, nice to "meet" you- where in maine is your mom from? I have a very close friend in Kennebunk, I spend a couple of weekends a year there-love it. Good luck on Curves- I've seen the lc plan, looks good! it's great that you have the food and the exercise thing working at the same time! That is not the case for me, I'm never a good exerciser, and the dieting is on and off. But I am a real low carb devotee, whatever the plan...it is what always feels best for me.
Yesterday was a tough day, TWO trips to the grocery store after work, MIL (who doesn't eat well) "felt like" having a hot dog. Well, that means rolls, Oscar Meyer franks,, Frenches mustard and sauerkraut. I only eat Hebrew National hotdogs, I have 4 kinds of mustard in the house, NOT YELLOW mustard which is all she wants, and have no hot dog rolls. And while I'm there, will I get some Cambells beans? Then I have to add certain things to the beans, "do we have any horseradish?" "Put some yellow mustard in them."
I am going to kill her before this is over. They will find her body in a Wonder hot dog roll bag covered with Frenches yellow mustard. Steamed in sauerkraut. can I fit DH's body in there too?
Plus, of course the painter called back after 10 days, but can't work the day I need him- but I am trying to schedule him anyway. I was going to do the small job- the bathroom- but there is a lot of priming, the ceiling -that is hard for me, and another room. I don't have the time for so much. so, we'll see.
That's it...eating pretty good if you forget about the ice cream(it was an emergency and I thought it was a better choice than scotch) But more carbs!
Ok, trying to keep my sense of humor.
have a good one!

I'm originally from Maine too (my parents and all my fam is still there) we are from Lewiston. My mom lives in Sabattus (real close). Southern Maine.
In Nov 2003 my company asked me if I would transfer to their NC location- never been out of the state to live (went to college in Maine) so I came down and loved it and met my FI down here too! :)
Hope to talk to you again!

Morning, A cool start to the day, but we should get up to 70 today. I have been good about exercise and working on the food thing. With kids around I have too many snacks with too many calories. i did find some low carb tortilla that have 11 grams of fiber and am trying to use them as a substitue.
I am working on few projects. When people find out that you can do things the calls come flying in! I had a call from a woman that wanted me to do a 300 page booklett. I turned it down. It is out of the relm of what I do from my home computer, also I think it would take too much time and I am not equiped to do something that big.
Anyway, I took the kids for pictures last night. The school pictures were SO bad! I like what we got instead. So the day goes on. I have to sign my taxes today and get them out, run a quick errand and hit the eliptical and while the kids are at karate I will go for a walk in town. I find I don't have to walk fast (short legs) but if I can put in a few miles the fresh air helps me sleep better.
So have a good day chickie friends in whatever the day brings...

Another gorgeous red, blue and gold day! Sarah came for three hours this morning and my front perennial beds are now ready for winter - just need to rake the leaves onto them if the leaves ever fall.
Can't linger as I have a 1/2 hour script to write this afternoon. I am meeting the actor who's doing it with me at 8 AM tomorrow so I'm under a deadline as usual. I am such a procrastinator!
I hope you are all having a super autumn day!

a quick good morning while I get the coffee into me! We're over the hump!(thursday) Things are OK here, I painted yesterday...not done, but I'll get to the rest this weekend. I also scheduled a guy to measure for stairs- our main stairs are unbelievably creaky and look awful... they were covered with carpet before we bought the house, and I want to replace them. This will be fun, I am really looking forward to this project...
How' d the writing go, Ruth? That sounds like fun. You've been being a busy bee-sure you don't want to come to NY and give me a little free yard advice? Or LindaBC? You're the other landscaper in the bunch!
Hey L, aren't those tortilla's good? I haven't had them in a while, I like them heated in a dry frying pan and cheese melted on them and a little salsa, for a quesadilla. You've been good with your walking!
Hi Kandace, how'd your weigh-in go? And I guess you're getting your mom today. Have fun. Keep us posted!
Hi to everyone else- have a great day-

weigh in on tuesday night went good- 200 lbs (up from the 199 I said, but it's ok) lost 5 lbs in 1 week- I'm happy with that. Staying on Phase 1 for another week, since I want to lose more than 20 lbs. body fat % 33.8% down from 34.7 the week before. so really 3.5 lbs body fat lost. every lb helps!
More and more people have been asking me what I'm going to do about my wedding dress. I bought my dress 2 weeks after we got engaged because that was the one I had always been dreaming about and it looks wonderful! I bought it in a size 16- that fit me then... just tell them over and over- I'll get it altered! I need to anyways.
seems like a lot more people, I've noticed, try to hold you back when you're doing something you're really proud of.

meant to add- this weekend is going to be my first real challenge- eating out. My mom comes in tonight and loves to eat (but she walks/ runs 5 miles a day too) she was bigger than me all my life- size 24-26 and the highest I've been in size 18. She started walking 3 years ago and lost a bunch of weight at first but has kept it off now- she's probably a size 10-12 now. But she still loves to eat and cook (she cooks at our house when she visits too) and if she doesn't cook- we go out to eat... going to be a challenge- I haven't been out to eat since I started... think of me!!

Hello, we are moved and back online, woo hoo. The move was a messy one and I am so glad it is done. I still have stuff in storage, will have to downsize again. LOL (chit collector). My weight is going down again. My ulcer is active and aggrivating as hell, easier to eat small meals right now, anything with spice is out of the question. Little man is settling in well. I have his play equipment in the yard, so it feels like home. He is talking soo much lately, it amazes me. Did anyone else watch "Come Back Jack"?? It is a wonderful movie about a boy with Autism, I see my son in Jack. It was hard to watch the family go through everything I have already done, but the rewards at the end brought more tears, it is sooo worth everyday of struggle to hear him say "I love you Mommy", I am still waiting to hear those words from my guy, but he is talking, he is requesting things and starting to express intrests in the world around him. As my bf left for work this morning Jared, hollers out behind him, "have fun, be a good boy"! LOL He repeats alot of what is said to him..........or what he hears which is not always what I need him to say to the Occupational therapist (she dropped her pen, he said "oh chit"! Anyways life is on an even keel again. I made a pot of soup, so I must be feeling better. It was hard to go through all my things and get rid of so much I had carried around for years, but it was also liberating drop some of the baggage. I feel lighter in spirit! Does that make sense?? :dizzy:
Hope you all have a wonderful day and lovely weekend.

Happy Saturday. my only morning to sleep in and it was wonderful to wake up to full sunshine and a crisp fall day. I am going to go foar a walk today. I have gone everyday for the last 2 weeks and I can feel the difference. I have to say i am not a speedy walker but I do try to put in the distance.
I have just finished listening to a great book although I would do the abridged version if you have the choice. Skinny Dip by Carl Hiaasen. It was histerical and I would recomend it. I like to listen while i walk....
Meona, glad the move went well and that you are setteling in. There really is something to be sed for purging clutter!

Hey y'all what's going on?
saturday, and I was up early, went to the office for a couple of hours with DH; we both got some work done. Back home and off to grocery shop, and a dept. store walk thru with DS...looking for a new pocketbook. I liked something that was $135, a bit steep for an everyday bag that takes a lot of wear and tear.
MIL is sleeping, and has been feeling sick for a couple of days. Boy, the lesson here is live as healthy as you can- eat your protein, take your calcium, keep your muscle tone up. She was in terrible shape before chemo started, all she ate was junk and she sits in a recliner and watches tv and reads, during chemo she has no strength, no reserves to call on to keep her going. So, walk, eat your meat and veggies!
I will join you in your walks, L- I am headed out right now! I wrote down the audio book you mentioned, I'll look for it soon. Right now I am listening to Bill Bryson "A Walk in the Woods," a travel narrative about hiking the Appalacian Trail from Georgia to Maine. Very funny, but with enough information, history, and good story-telling to keep me interested...
That's it, I guess. Went to dinner at Outback last night with a girlfriend- that was nice, a lovely martini and grilled salmon. yum... Tonight I am making striped bass with a pesto topping, baked sweet potatoes and garlic bread for the DH and MIL, they love it. Tomorrow DH and will finish up some painting in the bathroom and put up some hooks and shelves in a closet. I am keeping VERY busy, it has been good for me!
Also bought myself Origins Ginger Creme Bath bubbles...oohhh very nice!
be good chickies,
dottie
oops...came back to say welcome back, Meowna- glad you're up and running. I love getting rid of junk too, it's great.
also loved your little guy story, "oh, chit" LOL!

Hello everyone!
Welcome to the new posters - so nice to have you join us!
Quick flybye as I need to jump in the shower and take off to the baseball game tonight. Melis came in town for my birthday this weekend but *sad* she has a huge mid-term charcoal drawing she needs to finish so she will be staying home this evening.
Darn it - I didn't even get to sleep in this a.m. because my Tahoe was waaay overdue for an oil change and I needed to get to the shop early if I was going to get it back in a decent time (love it when they ask "can you leave it all day?" umm, nooo. No other drivers here....) Nice surprise that they had it done in 40 minutes!
So everyone have a nice weekend! I will be spending the evening watching my 15 year old place baseball - can't imagine a nicer way to spend my 45th birthday!
