My husband and I have been on Phase 1 for 4 weeks and are going to slowly transition to Phase 2. I have a few questions about the best whole grains to add.

Which is the best choice/brand dry cereal?
Are we better off choosing a whole wheat pasta or one of the low carb ones (like Mullers or Dreamfields which seem to have even more fiber)?
Same with bread, better off with whole grain low carb or just a regular whole grain?

Thank you.

Jodi

As far as "low carb" breads and pasta are concerned, I think the slight increased fiber is not worth the extra bucks you pay for the special things. Whole grain pasta and 100% whole grain bread is fine.

Dry cereals are limited to All Bran, Al Bran with extra fiber and Fiber One/First. Hot cereals can be buckwheat groats, old fashioned oatmeal or wheat bran.

Do the transition slowly and see how it goes.

I use the Uncle Sam cereal and love it. I'm pretty sure it is mentioned in the SBD book. I sprinkle a little Splenda on it and sometimes add some fruit.

Yeah, Uncle Sam is allowed.
