Good morning. I'm back to very early awakening. Of course a two hour nap yesterday afternoon probably caused that. I guess I'll just live with it.
I really have nothing to say so I'll just start us up and go make the coffee and hug my Hershey. After a shot of caffeine, I'll be able to chat.

Good morning, Chicks~~:coffee:
Not quite awake yet. Can't do caffeine, so I'll go grab my shower. I should be able to form a coherent sentence after that.
Back in a bit
**I'm back. DD just announced that she's dropped 2.5 pounds since she started Phase I on Tuesday morning. :)
Saturday, DD and I are headed up to the mountains for the fall shearing at a friend's farm. Should be lots of fun.
Not much else going on.
Hope everyone has a great day on the Beach!

Morning lovely ladies! :coffee:
Wow It has been some week! I am totally off of plan and I have blown it! I was down to one lb shy of 180 and then my airman came home..after that I just got kicked off the wagon! The night he got home we went to chiles for dinner well since he was paying and only had a larger bills I decided that I would leave tip I had some smaller bills, I get my wallet out of my purse and get out the money and start talking to the waiter and Derek, and my mind flopped and I forgot to put it back in my purse so the next day I go to pay for a gift and my wallets not their! So I call up to the place they were total jerks, and have been under tons of stress trying to cancel and replace credit cards, checks, and debit cards, and licence you name it. Other then my misfortune I had a great time with my soldier but like always bittersweet when he has to leave again...
So here I am back to phase one for a fresh new start. I was wondering is tomato soup allowed on phase one?
Ruth-Your doggie is sooo cute! :)
Mamacita- I can relate! :dizzy: :coffee: :D
To the rest of you ladies to come I hope you all have a great OP day! Remember tomorrow is FRIDAY!!!! The weekend can't come soon enough for me !

Morning Chickies,
Gosh, Airman's Angel (sweet!) I hope whoever found your wallet has second thoughts and returns it, without running up your cards! Hope you get it all straitened out.
Ruth, Hershey is so adorable, I know you are going to be at a loss while she's away. How's Lucy and her puppies doing?
Mamacita, hope your coffee is better than mine this morn! I tried out my expresso maker and YUK! Tastes nothing like Starbucks - I'll have to pick up a cup when I'm out later.
Still going strong staying OP this week. Following the plan in the book is making it a lot simpler for me. My mom and dad went back to Phase 1 this week, too, after being in the Midwest for 2 weeks, I'll have to stop in and see how they're doing. The scale shows I'm down 1 1/2 lbs. since Monday.
We are having some unbelievably gorgeous weather lately! I've been spending as much time as I can outside. Jake's allergies are really bothering him, though. On today's plan, I have to go grocery shopping this morning, and I want to get some ice pansies planted in the front garden. The "plan" calls for grilled steak for supper, but I'm substituting flounder instead.
Thought for today - - Twinkies is filing for bankruptcy!

Good morning!
Hope everyone has a great day at the beach! I had to substitute one dinner for another last night because of DS football game! But the second dinner was OP so I feel ok. Sleeping the best sleep ever since Monday. Feeling a little lethargic but I imagine that should pass. Got to get walking or exercising though! Maybe that will help with the lethargic feelings.
The cookies lost the battle when I threw them in the trash last night. Why DS hasn't ate them I don't know but they couldn't stay. Cookies are a weakness for me.
Have a great day everyone!!!

Ruth, I can actually see Hershey's eyes!!
I'm glad you had a nap yesterday... I'm sure it was much needed.
Mamacita, congratulations to your daughter! :hat:
Sheep shearing is fun to watch, isn't it? :) There's a place right in the middle of Ottawa called "The Experimental Farm". http://www.friendsofthefarm.ca/ They have lovely gardens and farm animals and stuff. We're able to see the shearing done there.
I really love seeing the sheep dog trials. Those little dogs are so smart.
Angel, sorry about your wallet episode, but glad you had a good time with your honey!
Cottage, are you serious about Twinkies!? Bizarre. Next thing you know, it'll be Krispy Kreme. (that name makes me heave)
Did I detect a note of sarcasm in your voice when you asked me the other day if I'm going to become a gourmet cook? :lol3:
Stay OP, hon! You're doing great!!
Anchor, the lethargy will pass. You may get a headache, too... hang in there!!
I'm having lunch with a girl friend today, then going to the theatre this evening with some friends. My kingdom for a week alone.
Not to complain about the weather or anything (although it's what we Canadians do best), but two days ago the furnace was running, and today I'm running around opening windows to let some heat out of the house!

Oh anchor I can relate to the cookies laying around! The ones DD made Sunday were taunting me until finally DH ate them all Tues. I can't figure out what took him so long! lol Usually if there are cookies in the house he will eat them all right away. Temptation that's what it was but I didn't give in!lol
Ruth ... She looks so sweet! Yea the nap probably did it for ya!
Mama.... Wake Up!!!!!! teehee That is me in the morning. I may be up but don't engage me!
Airman's Angel.... You tell him I said thank you for serving our country and defending my freedom! I'll keep you 2 in my prayers! I also pray you either recover your stuff or that there is no cc expenses you get stuck with! Great job gettin back in it with all this goin on.
cottage... Way to work it girl! We are havin awesome weather here as well. This time last week we were all batten down for Ivan! Thank goodness he is gone and we are safe. But oh the aftermath of those who were not as fortunate! (lot's of prayers for them)
Ellis... Sounds like a fun day planned!
To all the chicks to come have a great OP day! Let's all decide now to not be blown off the beach by the weekend! I got a lot done in my livingroom yesterday. It is starting to look like we live here! I must say I do love the stone fireplace with the harth! I love sitting by the fire without having to sit on the floor! I'm off to the doc today still tryin to get my knee better from my accident last year. Hoping to start exercising one day if they could ever get it to stop hurting long enough! lol Take care all!

Back and that feels better. I am definitely a caffeine addict and feel flat without it.
I'm with you on the dumb weather, Ellis. Do I put away the summer stuff or leave it out a while? It's actually sort of muggy this morning. I want REAL fall after such a psuedo summer!
Airman's Angel, it sounds to me that someone got a really big tip. :( What peckerheads! Tomato soup may or may not be allowed, depending on the ingredients. The Guide says it's "good" but watch out for cornstarch in it.
Mamacita, congrats to your DD! Hey, are you going to take pics when you go to the shearing party? Do you just watch or participate?
Cottage, thanks for the reminder re the ice pansies. I will see if I can get some when I'm in town this afternoon. My Naked Ladies (fall crocus) are in bloom right now but I need more colour.
Anchor, good work tossing your cookies, so to speak. Cookies are my weakness and our darn local market has started turning out wonderful oatmeal ones. So far I've resisted although they sure smell good when I go in there for the paper.
Bamiegirl, it sounds like we have twin knees. So fast to screw up and so long to heal! The fireplace and hearth sound wonderful for fall days.
I'm feeling a little "off" these days. The sleep patterns are still screwed up and I don't have my usual zip. However, today is my "relief" day when Jane comes to stay with Harry. Rather than shop for four hours, I am going to the Gananoque Casino for lunch with a friend and then will play the slots for a while. It should be relaxing - and I can sit down! We have a rehearsal tonight with blocking so I need to have my damned knee functioning well, not tired from doing the Wally World Walk.
I'm off for a low cal Avon Vanilla Cream bubble bath and then will do a bit of a tidy before I get organized for my time off. Have a great Beach Day, Chickies.

Good morning all--Day 3 was fine for me eating-wise, and although I know it's water weight, or just coincidence, not fat, I'm down 2.5lbs since I started. :)
Invited to a dinner party this weekend--any tips for staying OP while not offending the hostess? It's a girls-only evening too, which makes it harder (men never notice what you do or don't eat, but women usually do, I think). Any good excuses for picking at dessert, or for not drinking?
Thanks!

Angel - Check out our recipe section. Under Soup - Phase 1 there is a tomato soup recipe. I haven't tried it but tomato soup is easy to make. Canned MAY be okay in Phase 2 depending on the ingredients but I would leave it alone in Phase 1 unless you are absolutely sure that all of the ingredients are on the Phase 1 allowed list.
I got stuck at work late yesterday and didn't get to exercise. Then I got home and had to have a long discussion with Brian about why he slugged a kid in music class! He was so well behaved last year but this year he is having a few problems. Tonight is a Pack Committee meeting so my evening is shot. At least the weekend is almost here (although I have to work Saturday morning and Saturday night).

Morning girls.
I feel a bit groggy today and am rubbing my eyes, but for the most part feel very rested. I'm ready for this bloody week to be over!!!! Today, tomorrow, and Saturday are all I have left. Then I have Sunday and Monday off.
Volleyball was horrible last night. I tore up my knees again. We were missing Jay and Eric from the team, so replaced them with Donte and Sean. Sean was good, Donte was not so good. Lost all 3 games. :( Oh well, we're still 12-3.
Well, better get ready for work again. Arrrgghhh. I wanna stay hoooommmeee. Today's usually my day off. Have a good one ladies.

Yeah Buckie!!!!! Way to go
Belly Dancer you are a stronger person than I am. I just turned down an invite for a Friday PM birthday party for a lady who is gourmet cook. I'm strong but not that strong. Good Luck!
Bamie girl - I love cookies.:cookie: Whenever I see something that tempts me I think to myself - if I was skinney and could eat anything in the world would I eat that? The answer is usually no. Of course I would be eating other bad things but that is besides the point  However, when I asked myself that question about the cookies on the counter the answer was yes. So they just had to go!!!!! Of course DS asked for a cookie this morning for am snack at school and I had to spill the beans about dumping them.
I better get showered up and head to school! Have a great day everyone!

At work today, waiting for a car accident to come in so I thought I'd sit at the puter and say hi.
Survived day 3 of phase 1, whew! Now if I can get through today and tomorrow at work.............(fingers crossed) I can't go into the cafeteria or I'll crumble (I love their sugar cookies). Bought a ton of treats yesterday for the kid's lunches. Stuff I hate. Well, except the tootsie rolls. Anyway I'm not feeling the sugar craving like I was two days ago. Trying to decide how long to stay on phase 1 this time. I'll weigh in on Saturday and decide. I really do miss apples. I bought some Fuji that are so huge.
Anyway, I hope the caffiene helps you out Ruth! Give the babies a love.
Ellis, send some heat my way. I had a fire in the fireplace last night, I've also taken to putting a heating pad in bed with me to warm my tootsies at night (hubby has been in Minnesota all week and he's like a furnace) Oh did you say the word Krispie Kreme???? I love those things!
Mama, hope you have a good day at work!
Bellydancer-Way to go on day 3! I'm neck and neck with ya!

Barb-you need some calgon! How old are the kids?
Hi, RNMOM! I have one son who is seven. He's in the second grade and by far the youngest in his class. He seems to be having problems because his friend from last year is playing with a different boy this year and they don't want to play with him. He's feeling rejected.
Of course, the problem in music class yesterday started with an argument over where the boys were supposed to line up to sing a song (do you notice the girls lined up without an argument :) ). Brian lost the argument and punched the last kid in the line (who happens to be my den leader's kid - I'm her assistant). Then at recess he found a pair of dirty socks someone had left and was throwing them at the boys who wouldn't play with him. I'm just not sure what to do but we did talk to him last night about ways to handle his anger without touching someone (or throwing socks at them).

Good morning ladies. Hope everone is doing well and staying out of trouble (Ruth!, Ellis!)!!!!
Mamacita - Congrats to DD. She is doing so well on the program if she has already dropped 2 pounds and only started. Tell her to keep up the great work... Have fun in the mountains this weekend. DH and I will try to get to Banff this weekend to do a bit of hiking and stuff. I depends on how the house hunting goes in Calgary tomorrow, though, but we should be able to make it there for at least half a day.
Angel - I feel so bad for you about your wallet. I deal with that kind of stuff all the time in my job and there is nothing worse than someone not returning a wallet that they find. It is too bad that you didn't have the restaurant check the washroom garbages...quite often people will empty a wallet/purse in the bathroom, take what they want and throw the rest away. Usually, you can at least recover ID and stuff that is really hard to replace. The thief (especially in that kind of setting) will take only the money and maybe credit cards (but even leave these most of the time). If it was only a short time ago, you may be able to have them check, yet.
cottage - WTG, girl. So glad that you are able to stay OP. I think we all need to figure out the easiest and best way to manage the program. I find it easiest to know what I can and cannot eat, then work around that. However, my DS's girlfriend is starting the program on Monday and she very much likes to have everything spelled out for her. What is easiest and still OP is best. :D
Anchor - I'm pround of you for throwing the cookies away. I have the same problem with my DH. He buys cookies, eats most of them, then puts the last dozen or so in a baggie and leaves them on the counter - where they sit foooorrrr days. If I don't stick them in his lunch bag, he just doesn't get to eating the last few. But I have figured out that, if I throw them in his lunch, he will take them and put in the coffee room at work, so not all is lost, I guess.
Ellis - Have a good time at lunch. Does the girlfriend have kids??? Out west, we are having great weather, too. But we generally have bad weather for a couple of weeks at the beginning of Sept., then it turns nice - an indian summer. I gauge that on family birthdays - my birthday is Sept 14 and the weather was crappy, today is DH's birthday and the weather is beautiful. It happens that way every darn year...
Bamie - Good luck at the dr. today. Those kinds of injuries are really difficult to manage...hope you are able to start with some kind of exercise soon. Take care.
Ruth - Have a great day off, you deserve some time off after the exciting week you have had. Good luck tonight with the rehearsal tonight. How did the rehearsal go on Sunday?
Heidi - Have a great day. Don't do too much painting though. What are you painting?
Bellydancer - WTG. Great loss. I know that dinner parties are usually difficult to manage, but here is the way that I handle them. Whether buffet style of boarding house style, just fill your plate with OP foods. However, don't make it look conspicuous that you are not eating something by leaving an empty space on your plate. If anyone notices - in my experience, they usually don't pay much attention - then just say something like you don't feel like that today (the truth because you don't feel like it because it is not OP), or your plate is full and you well see later (the truth, your plate is full and you will be happy to look at it later). For desserts, I generally just explain that I am full (which I am because I don't save room for desserts out). One other thing that I read once (never tried this, though) was about the Queen. I read that, with all the dinner invitations, etc. that she has, she rarely eats meals, but noone ever notices. The people who do notice, watch her play with her food, cuts it, moves it from one side of the plate to the other, puts it on her fork, lifts it up, puts it down...never actually goes into the mouth. That may be another plan if you are really stuck. At any rate, go to enjoy yourself and don't go with the attitude that it will be difficult - you know what you can eat, and what you cannot eat and follow those principles. You can do it.
Barb - Sorry to hear the Bryan is having problems at school this year. Sending you good wishes and hoping that it is a phase through which he is going and that it will pass quickly. Take care of youself and DS. Have a good weekend.
Weezle - Too bad about the games, however, the bright side is that you were out exercising. Look after those knees, though. You will need them for the rest of your life. What does the dr. say about them...or have you been?
Buckie - Welcome to SBD. WTG on the weight loss. You have only another few days of the strict phase, then it will be onto something a little more flexible. WTG.
Me - Well for me, this week has not been all that great, other than the weight loss. It is that TOM and I have lost half a pound. For me that is terrific...I usually gain 4 or 5 at the beginning, then drop that weight plus another couple toward the end. However, this time, I have lost the half at the beginning. I'm excited to find out what will happen by the end. Hopefully, it will be a greater loss.
This is Friday for me...we leave for Calgary tonight. We are staying in a hotel where they provide a Continental breakfast with the hotel room. This usually consists of pastries, muffins, cereals and fruit, but nothing really OP. I don't enjoy cereals and that kind of thing well enough to use my carb allortment for the day at breakfast. So, this time, I have come up with my own plan - why I didn't think of this before just amazes me. :dizzy: Anyway, I made the muffin recipe that Barb posted earlier this week and will take my own muffins and butter, I have a bottle of V8 juice and will take a half dozen eggs. The hotel has a microwave in the breakfast area, so I will take my own breakfast. That way, DH can eat and dash to work and we won't have to find another restaurant to eat at so early in the morning. Such a simple solution... I can manage the rest of the meals in a restaurant, but breakfast has always been the problem meal.
The hotel also has a large pool and I can get my exercise in the pool and also do my power walking on the pool deck...so that's covered, too. Just gotta remember to take the gym bag with me.
Hope everyone has a great weekend. We will be leaving tonight...we thought we would get away after work, but I have to go home first since we are having our garage door replaced today. Have to go home to check on the job before we leave. Take care everyone and stay OP. You can do it.

Morning ladies! :coffee: (we need one of these smilies with an iced latte in hand) :)
RNMom - I adore Fuji apples...not to tempt you....but aren't they the greatest for everything? :)
Buckie - Welcome!
Ellis - DF's super rich aunt owns stock in one company....yup, you guessed it. Krispy Kreme. She's loaded to say the least. And I doubt they will ever go out of business with people like my DF around! Plus, no matter how many of us gals there are trying to improve our health, there are many more of those who have given up and donate daily to the Krispy Kreme fund. They make me want to puke as well. :)
Ruth - I envy you...bubble baths in the AM.... :) ...Who has the time? :dizzy:
Airman's Angel - I can remember that bittersweet feeling. Have you ever been to the Common Threads messageboard? If not, you should really join. PM me and I'll send you a link. If you're already a member, tell the ladies Adiafaith says hello. :)
To the ladies I missed, sorry and good morning. Running a little behind. Bry and I are dealing with a poster collection this morning. Some are worth more, like the Kiss ones from when they were a garage band, but some are just not worth my time.....frustrating. I'll try to stop in later.

Good morning chicks!
Welcome buckie. Congratulations on your success! Keep it up.
I am doing very badly this month after a good start. :( I have had a strategic planning meeting on tourism (with a catered lunch) and my dh's birthday. Plus, we drove to MIlwaukee to see our daughter and that means dinner at Panera Bread, my favorite. But the real problem is that I am very good at making up excuses and have trouble with my sweet tooth. Oh, well, I' m OP today and hope to stick to it until the tourist season is over, which is the beginning of November.
Hope everyone has a good day. I'm doing prep for bed and breakfast guests, which includes cooking, laundry and cleaning. We have a full inn this weekend.
Thank you all for your inspiration. I couldn't do it without your support.

Hello Chickies,
Hope this Thursday finds you all well. Fall is definitely here in western Europe. It's been cold, grey and rainy the last three days, but the pumpkins are everywhere. At least there is some color to these dreary days, but this really puts a damper on my walking routine.
Airmans Angel - sorry to hear about the wallet. Fingers crossed that you will get a call froma good samaritan.
Ruth - your furkid is a cutie pie
Mamacita - I was driving down the road (through farmland) yesterday coming home and a man standing on the side of the road caught my eye. He was wearing a hat, long coat and holding a staff and I thought "Gee, he looks like a shepherd" and when I got closer only then did I notice a flock of sheep all around him!!
Bamiegirl - the fireplace sounds GREAT. My house is c-o-l-d and its not even winter yet. YIKES!
Barb0522 - sorry to hear about your son's acting up. I know its a serious issue but the sound of 'dirty sock throwing' does sound kinda funny...
Sweet Tooth - Great Plan! Way to be creative and come up with a plan to make your hotel stay OP. We can all do this, as the saying goes, "where there's a will, there's a way."
AdiaFaith - I love hearing about your Ebay stuff and experiences. I work in a consignment store so I can relate!
Speaking of work, two days ago an older gentleman came by to drop something off and asked me if I was pregnant. (I am not) I had been feeling pretty good lately having just recently reached the 20 pound lost mark and this was a real bummer. I tried to make him feel better by blaming it on the shirt. It was a ladies blouse, light blue button up with 3/4 sleeves and a small flower print all over. Its the kind you can wear tucked or untucked (I had it untucked) I told the other girls at work about it and now we joke about burning that shirt. I told my friend (who lost 65 lbs the SB way) about it too and she said "well, that is a matronly shirt." I believe that shirt will be going in my next batch of consignments - HA HA.
Yesterday, though, was better. I ran into someone I met 6 months ago and only saw a few times back then. Not only did she remember me, but also asked if I had lost weight, so that makes up for the day before.
To all those I missed, keep up the good work. You can do it.

Sweet tooth, thank you so much for the suggestions about being gracious but OP at the dinner party--especially the anecdote about the Queen! :) I'm sure you're right that people are noticing what I eat a lot less than I think they are. I'm just so focused on it that I think everyone else is!
Broad Abroad, the same thing (being asked if I was pregnant) has happened to me when I was wearing this one empire-waist dress I have. I was standing in line for a dressing room at the Gap, and making conversation with the saleslady who was supervising the dressing rooms--she said, with a big smile, "So, how far along are you?" I had no idea what she meant at first--then I got it and I was so horrified and embarrassed that I mumbled something about having forgotten something and fled the store. Of course, it was HER who should have been embarrassed--don't all grownups know that YOU SHOULD NEVER ASK SOMEONE IF SHE'S PREGNANT?!?!?!?

Weezle - Too bad about the games, however, the bright side is that you were out exercising. Look after those knees, though. You will need them for the rest of your life. What does the dr. say about them...or have you been?
Yeah, I really shouldn't bang them up like I do. I've had bad knees since volleyball in high school, years ago. Patellar bursitis in both, tendonitis, dislocated my right kneecap when I was 16, big ol' calcium deposit on the outside of my left kneecap from whacking the same place on the floor time after time. I spent more time at Sports Care of Illinois than I did on the court, it felt like sometimes. They heal, though, right?
