Are we not supposed to have it? I bought Healthy Choice sugar-free fudge bars last night but I think they have aspartame for some reason rather than splenda. Does it make a difference?
:dizzy: Sorry ladies, but there are just so many things to remember!!

Aspartame is fine as long as you are one of the people who can use it without getting headaches. I use Splenda more because you can cook with it whereas Nutrasweet (Aspartame) breaks down when it is heated. I still love my Diet Cokes with Aspartame. Both are on the list of approved sweeteners.

You can use any of the sugar substitutes in moderation, which ever one you like best.

This would be a great thing to pool knowledge on, though--what are some Splenda-containing substitutes for major aspartame-containing products?
Too much aspartame (NutraSweet) makes my ears ring, but Splenda seems to agree with me fine, so I really prefer to have Splenda.
For Diet Coke: Diet Rite Cola as well as the Walgreen's drugstore own-label diet soda (I prefer the taste of the latter) uses Splenda.
I'm stumped on SF Jello and Crystal Light though--I couldn't do without either of them--when will they hurry up and change to Splenda? Fruit-2-0 (a fruit-flavored bottled water) uses Splenda and it's great--but not cost-effective compared to Crystal Light.

Have you tried making your own versions of the jello and Crystal Light? I use the Kool-Aid packets and add my own Splenda and they're good. The lemonade flavor and pink lemonade are good, as well as the fruit punch.
Same thing with the jello. Get the box of Knox gelatine (4 envelopes inside) and use the unsweetened Kool-Aid packets and Splenda to create your own. Give it a try!!!

When I was doing Atkins and being strict (ah the good old days  ) I had a week were I was away on my own, no one else to cook for, no distractions or junk food and really OP all 7 days and NO WEIGHT LOSS :?: . Ultimately, I came to the conclusion it was related to Aspartame (which Dr. Atkins alludes to in his books). I was somewhere hot and the tap water "tasted funny" so I was drinking a gallon :fr: of Crystal Light a day.
Since then, I use splenda where possible and limit myself to one aspartame a day (like my beloved diet vanilla coke).

Broad Abroad--Thanks!! I didn't even realize you could buy unsweetened Kool-Aid. That's a great idea. I've been making my own chocolate-flavored "jell-o" with gelatin and Nestle diet hot cocoa mix (which uses sucralose), but I can still kind of taste the gelatin through the delicate flavor of the cocoa--so the strong flavor of Kool-Aid will be much better!! Thanks!!
kfs--have you had the vanilla Diet Pepsi? I like it even better than vanilla Diet Coke--it's more vanilla-y, I think.
Can you tell that I'm a FIEND for sweet things? Sweet tooth the size of Texas...before I switched to artificial sweeteners I had to have a cavity filled almost every time I went to the dentist. :o :o So Splenda is good for my teeth as well as my thighs.... :D

I couldn't live with out my diet coke. I know I should cut back but it just helps me with the sweet cravings. I've always been a big drinker. I drink about 4 cans of diet coke a day, plus my huge bottle of water. I lost 40 lbs before I got pregnant and I was drinking diet coke the whole time.!!!
