Lily, welcome back. You have been missed (I think more than anybody else has when they were MIA). Sorry about your sister, but glad to have you back. Fill us in on all that has gone on while you were gone. Hope you reach goal this week. It looks like I will never get there.

Lily... so happy to have you back.... and helping out Slavika... :D.. I guess you know she has been complaining about starting the thread. The rest of us have been promising to "help out".
Hope your sister is on the road to recovery. Good luck at WI... Looking forward to congratulating you on goal weight. :)
Geri.. You WILL get to goal weight too. Just don't give up. :nono:
Peggy.. Just reading about Max made me fall for him too. I just love animals, especially dogs. So glad you hear you took him in and saved his life.
Maria.. I can't get to see your DD homepage. I tried last night and again today. :?: No, I never heard of Johnny O'Keefe. I like watching Australian and British films, so I thought that maybe the name would be familiar to me.
Ann... I wish all of us could get together for a Tea Time too... :D... I know we would have a lot of laughs and have a lot in common.
Slavika.. Looked all over for you today when we did the rounds of the supermarkets. I got my hair cut this morning, so I am feeling great! Yesterday my Mom bought 3 new things for summer, and today 2 of them have to go back... YIKES...

Hubby is outside getting the lawn mower ready for the summer, so I am going to go outside and enjoy the rest of the afternoon. See you guys later.

I just quickly popped in and will be back later.
Good to see Lily back. I am not surprised you have decided not to go thru all the posts, we do like to chat :D:D

Trudy here is the address again of my daughters home page
http://www.mystical-alchemy.freeservers.com

This time I have cut and pasted, I may have inadvertantly left out a 'dot' or something. The page is definetly up and running.
Will and try and come back later

Hi Maria.. thanks for sending the site.. it is really a nice one. :) Lexie & Joe are a cute couple, and definitely look in  with each other. The boys were "cute", but my interests lay in the smarties background  ...gads I am old. Oprah said that she meditates for 1 hr each day. That is something I would like to learn how to do. It is supposed to be a great way to reduce stress. Have you ever tried it?

"talk to you later"....

Hi Everybody

Lily it's so wonderful to have you back, those "slackers" on this board promised to help me...by starting new threads.....but did they NO LOL :D
Now that Lily has been accounted for we have to find Schoolgirl/Lela . Yoo Hoo Lela where are you? :?:
Maria I checked out your daughter's page, what a nice couple her and her boyfriend make. :)

I went to the doctor's today because I had a tiny little "mole" thingme growing high up on my cheek, sort of next to my hairline. He said it wasn't one to worry about, but he will remove it for me. I made and appt at the end of May to have that done. He said he could burn it or cut it out.....I asked which was better he suggested I have burned off. He said it would leave a tiny little white mark there but that would be it. Have any of you gals had to have little things like that removed. I wonder why they even grow in the first place. I guess it could be the sun and I am in the sun quite a bit.

Tomorrow I am finally going to see my friend that I usually see on Wednesdays. I haven't seen her for a couple of weeks now and I miss her. It is her birthday on Saturday so I will give her, her gift tomorrow. I bought her a little ceramic flower shop by a company called "Blue Sky"/Clayworks. It come's with a little ceramic base the you sit a "tea lite" on, then put the little "flower shop" on top of it. When you light the candle the light shows through the windows and door of the little shop. I also got her a figurine of a lady wearing a big hat with flowers on it, the same as the one hanging from a basket on the flower shop. She gave me a "Blue Sky"/Clayworks piece last Christmas called the "Stargazer". When she gave it to me she said she liked it so much she wasn't sure I would ever get it. LOL. :) I really like it too.
Lily I am sure you will reach your goal but let us know on Sat. Geri when the time is right you will reach your goal too. If I don't quit eating so much I will never get back to goal. Geez.
Trudy what are your plans for tomorrow? We get the grandchildren around 5 o'clock tomorrow and have them until around Sunday at lunch.

Hi Everybody

I thought you gals might like to see the ceramic Flower Cottage I got for my friend and also the "Stargazer Cottage" she got for me. The artist is a Canadian, Heather Goldminc. Go to:
www.rockhousestore.bigstep.com
click on catalog
Next: click on collectibles Clayworks by Heather Goldminc
Both the "Stargazer" and the "Flower Cottage" are shown but not the figurine got for her.
They are probably in a lot of the Gift/Collectible shops in the places you live. :)

Ok for sure now, I am going to bed. Night all.

somebody is going to have to teach me how to put those cute little pictures on my posts. You will also have to teach me how to put something cute under my name and how to change senior member to something more fun.

Slavika go for the burning off. It is easier and heals nicer. It is also psychologically easier to take. I think they use a laser now. It is real fast. If possible have it done by a dermatologist. That is because they are so practiced that they do a neater job. A general practioner is okay, but a dermatologist would be my first choice. It is any easy procedure. I have had to have lots of things burned off. Also, make sure you always wear a sunscreen, especially on your face. A lot of moisturizers and make-ups have a sunscreen in them.

it just great that Slavika can direct us to a site and share her clay figurines gifts. They are really nice.
Also I am glad you went to see about your mole 'thingo', one cannot be too careful.

Trudy I have tried meditation but not as seriously as my daughter. i don't know if you read her meditation experience on her home page but it was very full on, like 10 days without talking and no food after lunch. The food she did have was vegetarian. Mind you I am sure it would not have done me any harm.
She practices her meditation most days for as short as 10 minutes or as long as 1 hour. She said when she finally 'got' it, it felt just great.
I am with you, I skipped the 'cute boys' page :D:D:D

Well never a boring moment here, today I went to the Sydney Supreme Court.
I have always been fascinated by the law (loved rumpole of the bailey, you may have seen on tv) and on passing the supreme court this morning I asked the security guard if I could have a look. He directed me to the criminal court where a case was being heard. I felt a little nervous and spoke to a woman who was standing just outside the court. I asked her what the case was and she said it was about someone who received a life sentence 13 years ago and is now requesting a set sentence. She looked quite strange, I asked if she had been in the court and she said yes but that she had to leave to be sick. She then told me it was her brother who was in court. I felt really awful, she said just go in and can you let me know if he is still in the witness box. Well I went in and there was this young man (he is now 32) who has been in protective custody for 13 years because he raped and murdered a young girl whilst out with his mates and drunk. He admitted to the crime and has undergone all sorts of rehabilitation programs and now wants a definite date that he may be released.
It was very interesting in so far that I really felt sorry for the criminal, he seemed genuinely sorry for his actions and was very keen to be given the chance to make amends. I also felt for his sister, who was still outside the court. The parents of the victim were also in court, needless to say how I felt for them, how would one ever cope. At the start I was quite excited to see the court proceedings in action but in the end I felt quite sad. I would like to go again but perhaps not when such a horrendous crime is being heard.
On a much lighter note, I also went to a fantastic art exhibition. We have a competition each year, the Archibald Prize and many portraits of famous people are submitted. The exhibition of course never comes to little ol' Adelaide so it was a good opportunity to see it here.
I also asked in a shop about my scales and the girl more or less said that digital scales are just not that reliable. Mind you I have no inclination to step on the scales just at the moment ;) As the scales were quite expensive, I thought I would find their website and sent them an email expressing my disappointment in their product, who knows they may take pity on me and send me a new scale ;)
Sorry I went on a bit.
Have a great weekend
Cheers
MAria

Geri: You will get there. Dont give up. How is the new program going did I miss something?

Trudy: I have heard that about meditation to. My Brother use to do that all the time and he said it was wonderful. I could just never get into it at that time. Might be different now for me tho. Older and wiser that I am :)

Slavika: I'll help you out not to worry! We will just have to pull the whip out on the slackers. Funny cuz usually everyone wants to be the first to start the new thread. That present you bought your friend sounds adorable! She is gonna love it! Oh wow thanks for the link! These are adorable! Im gonna buy my sister one, she will love it! Good thing you got the mole thing checked out to. I would go for the burn it off to.

Karen: Hi! good to see you to!

Maria: That case would of been hard to sit through. I have been to a couple of cases before and I do find them very interesting. But something like that I dont know how I could handle it.

Geri: You need to go find some pictures you want to use. Save them to your computer in a folder somewhere you can find easily. Then when you are done typing the message you can click at the bottom where it says attach file and then locate the image you want to use. Double click on it and it will bring it in to the box.

As for changing the name:
Go into your profile. Click on the edit profile. Scroll down til you see Custom USer Text and thats where you can put in what you want for your title.
This is also where you can put in your signature line. You can use the smily's in the signature line but no other images can be used there.
Make sure you save the changes!

Hello
Glad Lily is back and her sister is doing better. I got an email from
her
with a few ideas to make this work (thank you) so here is another
attempt at
a longer note. (it didn't work so Lily, please send on when you have
time!)

The vacation was wonderful. The paddlewheel was fun. It was actually
built
in 1995 but looks one hundred year old. No phones or email but that
was the
point! I loved the South. It was beautiful and the Mississippi is
huge. We
toured plantations and battlefield and spent the last two days in New
Orleans. My mom was a bit frail but the trip adjusted to fit her. It
would
be a different trip with DH. Food was great and I am glad I have this
week
before I weigh in. ;)

Am back to work and it is very intense as usual but I am already
planning
June in Las Vegas (weekend) and July in Hawaii (need tips from Lily
and all
of you who have visited) It will be our 25th anniversary. We were
last
there 10 years ago celebrating my in-laws 50th. They are both gone
now. It
all happens so quickly this going up and aging stuff.

I just went and posted this using IE with no problem. Call your ISP. I think something on that end is holding it up. Have you posted else where? like other boards?

Your trip sounded wonderful! Would love to go there someday.
Slavika------ I will handle Cal and Hawaii, no problem....

Margot. I will just go along with you and DH and show you all the great spots. I know its your anniversary and all but I really think you need a tour guide. I am the one to fill that job!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Everybody
I'm just waiting for my friend so I thought I would take a peek and see what's going on here.
Margot I also believe you should have someone to show you around Hawaii, after all it has been 10 yrs. If you can only take one Tour Guide, ALAS I guess Lily will have to stay behind, and I will have to go with you. LOL :D She just wants to find Tom Selleck and doesn't really have"YOUR" interests at heart.
Thanks all, for your input about my little mole thingme, actually I remembered this morning what he called it. He said, if it was allowed to grow bigger it would be a "tag", and that I really didn't want that on my face.
Right now it is tiny.
Those little ceramic pieces are very cute, much nicer then they show in the pictures on the net. Those are US prices so we have to pay extra.....$1.50 to your dollar but they are still worth it. A couple of shops here sell them. :)
Maria I guess going into Court and listening, is much much different then just watching it on TV. Remember last summer when DH and I witnessed the drunk driver going off the road and through the huge ditch, smashing his truck on the other side. Well he's claiming "somebody" forced him off the road........not true. DH has to go to court on May 22nd to testify to what he saw, and there was certainly no other vehicle involved. Our grandson said, he would like to go too....we'll see.
Ok, I better run.
Lily I don't have Tom but here's Kyle for you.

You Crazy Ladies! - Don't you understand how it works? Slavika, you and Lily know that Margot and DH would much rather have a tour guide who was "fresh" and excited about the trip, than you ladies who are jaded and tired with Hawaii. Margot - I promise I could bring a whole new fresh approach to Hawaii. I am sure too that Tom would remember me. I wrote him a fan letter back in 1982.

I am a little behind in our discussions so I will try to catch up. I have a husband who has selective hearing to the nth degree. Our children are just like him. One time when our oldest was about 10, I conducted a little experiement. He was in his bed waaay down the hall. (This was after a harrowing day in which he did nothing the first time I asked.) I whispered, "Joel, you want a cookie?" A little voice came back to me, also in a whisper, "What kind you got?" He definitely could hear an invitation to a cookie.

About hair, I have been unwillingly bald twice in my life. My hair has returned so much nicer than it was before. I have such an appreciation of hair--I don't have bad hair days, but oh how I agree that long hair makes someone over 40 look older. It has taken me 2 years now, but I have hair that is all the same length and it is as short as it can be and be all the same length. I had a wig with this hairstyle and loved it so much I vowed to try to duplicate it. Of course, I couldn't, but this is the modified wig version.

Oh no not you to! Trying to take my job away from me. I knew Slavika would and maybe Trudy might try. But now You??? ALAS Just shows I will really have to bribe Margot now!

:D :D :D

I see Skinny Cows and Bakers Cookies be hand delivered to Margots door. Dozens of them. Shes not far from me you know.....

Thanks for Kyle Slavika. He happy back at his home.

Trudy
04-27-2001, 08:17 PM
Lily & Slavika... you gals simmer down, Glenda is right, you've been to Hawaii already, if Margot takes anyone is shoud be one who has never been, like me! :D
Glenda my Sis-In-Law has lost her hair a couple of times due to Chemo, she said that her hair is wonderful now. She always had fine limp hair, and now it is thick and has a lot of body. I guess you gals deserve it after what you had been through. :)
Margot your trip down the Mississippi sounds just wonderful. I think I would like that. You have a busy June & July lined up too. Does your Mom live alone.. I can't remember whether or not you mentioned that before.
Geri We all needed help to get our titles changed and little pictures up. Another reason to keep Lily around.. .. she know everything.
Maria You sure do keep yourself busy. Is your DH tied up a lot with work? I was called for jury duty once. I had to appear at the court and went through jury selection for 5 upcoming trials, but no one chose me.. I was quite peeved when I had to appear but really ticked when not one lawyer wanted me to sit in the jury box.
I read your DD's meditation experience. I am not sure I could go without talking for 10 days, or without lunch :nono: .. but I don't think the vegetarian thing would bother me. I just don't know how they can clear their minds either. I can't even do that when I go to bed, I just keep thinking about everything.
Slavika.. you are having a busy day today. What did you and your friend do... lunch? Right now I assume the Grandkids are over for their weekend sleepover
I loved that Stargazer ceramic, it looked beautiful when you had the candle lit. I have a couple of "spots" I would like removed too. I think we are all paying for all the years of being "sun worshipers".. I used to love sun bathing.

I worked out this morning, and ran around the house cleaning it this afternoon (it was a mess  ) and then took Mom back to the Mall to return and get price adjustments on the clothes she bought. Luckily for her everything went on sale and she saved $64.00 today.
She is happy~~ I am pooped!

Have a great evening all....

Seeing Hawaii has been visited before what about good ol' Aussie??????
With the Australian dollar the way it is, you will find it VERY economical to visit us. :)
Slavika I understand what you are saying, it is one thing to read in the papers or see on TV about a particular crime, different to actually sit in on the courtcase.

Trudy dh works very long hours, usually leaves about 7.30 am and does not return till 7 pm so other than watching my nails grow there is not a lot to do for me. We quite often go out to dinner with work colleagues of dh so even cooking is something I don't do every night. I know I mustn't complain and on the whole I feel very fortunate to be in this position but I HAVE to do things to make life interesting for me.
The contact I have with you guys is very important to me, it is nice to have interaction with 'gals' (as Slavika calls us :)) my own age and of similar outlook. It is good to share our experiences and learn from one and other. Mind you even though we are in different parts of the world, we all seem to have similar problems like 'deaf' husbands etc. etc. and we all worry abour our children.

We went to an electronics exhibition today, just unbelievable what is available in cameras, dvd players and all sorts of other little gadgets.
After that we had dinner and just had a very enjoyable day.
We also went to a street festival about 30 mins walk from where we are. On the way there I discovered all these factory outlets that sell women's fashion.
Guess where I will be heading next week :D
Tomorrow dh has to do some work at 'home' so we will be having a quite day, resting up for hitting the shops on Monday :D
Cheers for now
Maria

Wow, you miss a day here and you miss a lot. I definitely think that Glenda and I should both go with Margot to Hawaii. We can still bribe her too even though we don't live as close to her as you do Lily. ButMaria has just discovered some factory outlets and Australia sounds good too. I went to some yard sales today and got some great treasures. A brand new Brita water pitcher with a travel one for $3. A set of 3 crockery bowls that were new for $5. Slavika I love the ceramic pieces. They are so cute. I paint things like that on wood but I love the clay. That is something I would like to try. The artist is very talented. Speaking of spots do you all get those brown freckly age spots on your hands and arms? Yesterday I fought with the ivy that is going crazy in my yard. I pulled a lot of it out and was I sore. Have a good weekend. I'll be your tour director Peggy

Well Guys I did it finally. I made goal today!!!!!!! I was under by 2 even. So now I only have 3 more to get to me personnel goal. But Im gonna maintain until lifetime just to make sure I can do that! Only took me 10,000 years but I did it!

Trudy: Ok Ok Ok Go! Im gonna go visit Maria. She has Mel...

Maria: Actually me and DH really want to go to Australia. We have been talking about it for some time. Hopfully it will be in the cards for us to go in a few more years.

Hi Everybody
We had our grandbabies over for the weekend so that kept us on our toes. :) One of the things we did, was to take them to see "Pokemon 3". They enjoyed it, but it's not something any right minded adult would enjoy.
This afternoon, my daughter-in-law's dance classes had their dance recital. One of the numbers her little kids did was to "Hey Good Lookin" by Hank Williams. The little girls wore cowgirl outfits and were just as sweet as could be. Another group danced to "Alley Cat" and the third to "Conga". It's a fairly large kid's dance school, around 200 children and there was 20 different routines. My Princess also takes dance but not from her Mother, and not from that school. She takes lesson's from the same lady who taught HER Mother. The teacher is getting older now, but she is still very good.
Poor Margot I bet she's sorry she told us that her and her husband were thinking of going to Hawaii. It's really not very "NICE" of you gals to be bugging Margot like that, and trying to bribe her with things like "Skinny Cows", ( I won't mention any names) when even as we "speak" I could provide her and DH with some "WONDERFUL" Canadian Back Bacon. (not a bribe you understand) merely a little "gift". LOL :D
Trudy you and I are the only Canadian's on the board, so don't even think about it. :nono:
Well now, I'm happy that's all settled. Have a lovely evening everybody. Geez, only going on 7:00 and I don't have any points left. :(

My goodness-Only two days and it seems I've missed at least a month. I'll settle the Hawaii question. I just finished a very successful Lu'au, learned lots of Hawaiian words, have never been to Hawaii, and could also furnish a lot of Florida oranges..Maybe all the names will have to go in a hat and Margo can draw the winner!:spin:

Slavika: you were the hit of the Lu'au, with your punch recipes and the Tropicolada cake. Everyone loved the punch both recipes. The Orange Pineapple one and the Lu'au punch. I made each recipe 6 times and there was none left. "mahala" Hope I got that right!
We served 175, and all went well. Our entertainment was great fun. Besides the Honey Bun, we had four 'gentlemen Hula dancers' do the hukielau (spelling?) needless to say, with the grass skirts, hairy chests, and bras' stuffed with ballons, they brought the 'house down.':dizzy:

Lily: Congratulations on goal:D It's a great feeling. I'm now with Slavika, working on getting back to goal. At my WI on Sat I'm over again. I'm afraid I'm suffering from the yoyo syndrome:mad:

Margot: Glad ou had such a great time on thr 'River'. It is quite a sight. Did you walk on Bourbon Street and take in the great music? You said you visited some old plantations. Did you get to Oak Alley? What a beautiful place. When we were there we took a driving tour, on our own and visited several, but O A was my favorite. We ate there and had crayfish.good but spicy!!

Maria: I love outlet stores. Great bargains. I also loved Rumpole. That and Lovejoy two of my favorite t.v. shows. You sound like you are having a wonderful time.

Glenda: Did your new hair come back curly? I have a friend who went through the same experience, and she had always had straight hair. Now it is curly, and she loves it.

Peggy: What other kinds of artistic things do you do? Have you ever done quilling? I enjoy that, making little gift cards, and Christmas ornaments. But I can't work on anthing else until I finish the QUILT.

Karen: Any advice for the yoyo syndrome? Other than austerity. I really know, that this past couple of weeks I haven't had time to exercise, and haven't had my daily ration of water. that is a :nono:

Trudy: You got back to goal and are staying there. What do you advise?

I'm glad to be back and enjoy chatting with yuall. (just a little southern lingo) 'See' you tomorrow Ann

P.S. Slavika_ I forgot to say I have had a lot of experience with those little 'skin tags' In many spots. Some 'zapped' with the liquid nitrogen, and a couple were 'cut' off. My DH has had a lot of problems, since he spent much time on ships bridges in the tropics, and had lots of sun on his face. So just take care of them as they come, before they develop into some thing BIG! Ann

Ann Yes, I think it's best to have any little "thingme's" looked at by a doctor. I'm very lucky that this is the first time I have had anything like this and fortunately it's not a "bad" spot but I still don't want it. :)
By the way you are more then welcome. It sounds like the luau was a great hit and that everybody had a very good time. Wish I could have been there. You got the spelling of "thank you" in Hawiian almost right, it's
"mahalo", and you pronouce it "ma- ha- lo". M and H in Hawiian are pronouced pretty much the same way as they are in English........... and that's pretty much the extent of my Hawiian. LOL.
Good night.
